HIGHLY recommend! Upon arriving the place was very clean. They were very quick to get a sat down. We immediately got our drinks, i’d say within a minute of arriving. They came over every three minutes to ask if we were ready, we took about 15 minutes to look over the menu though. Everything was amazing. I had the angel roll in the volcano roll, but the angel roll was definitely my favorite! As soon as my glass was empty they were quick to ask if I needed a refill. Over food only took about three minutes to be made and sent out. Every person was very kind, it helped us in a timely matter. I would highly recommend you try this place. They also serve beer! 10/10 on friendliness, 10/10 on cleanliness and 10/10 for amazing food! Absolutely worth it

The odd star of our sushi stop was the Vegetable Roll. Larger than most rolls. It was almost a mini salad wrapped up. The rest tasted reasonably fresh and were well presented. It was a rainy wet day but the miso soup seemed especially good. When we commented on it to the server, she said they like their current paste. Good service for lunch. Comfortable place to dine.

One of my favorite sushi places in Boise. Eating here never disappoints. I like my sushi with a bit of spice. We usually eat the Island Roll which is my favorite. Also a Salmon skin cucumber roll. We recently had Hamachi Sashimi which was so delicious with yellowtail and serranos and a drop of spice in ponzu sauce. On the weekends this place is packed. My go to spot. Seating for about 55 people.

I came here while on a work trip and I can certainly recommend this place for my sushi lovers! I’m not surprised by their high ratings from my experience. When we arrived, we were quickly attended by someone with no wait time! Our waitress was so kind and very attentive. She was able to quickly take our order and within 7 minutes we got all of our food. My colleagues ordered teriyaki chicken and a chicken ramen bowl and I ordered a lot of sushi. It was very impressive speeds, especially for sushi. I was also very impressed with the display of the food! They made it look just like they advertise it. They were great to check in on us frequently for refills and taking any trash we had. The establishment was very clean and comfortable to be in. It is a smaller place but it didn’t bother us. I don’t know if it’s very accommodating for large groups, but for us, a group of four, it was great! I will definitely be coming back here and recommending others here too!

The sushi here was really good and the ramen was fantastic! The only thing I didn't like about the sushi is that there wasn't enough! The service was average but the food was beyond average. Overall I would definitely eat here again!

Okay, so one thing about me traveling is I look for country fried steaks, steaks and sushi. I'm looking for that restaurant away from home. Island Sushi and Ramen, is more about "Ramen and Chinese food" then about "sushi". Their sushi menu only had about 1 1/2 sections, and most were versions of California Rolls. Overall 4 out of 5 stars, quality of food was good, but I just wish they would have more of a selection of sushi rolls. I selected two rolls off their "special rolls". The 'Spicy Seaside' (very tasty) and the 'Ocean Roll' (nasty). Win some you lose some, that's why I write these reviews, so people know. 2 rolls and an app over $50, not worth it in my opinion.

This is a great sushi place! The service was some of the best I've had. They even modified my roll because I can't have shrimp. I tried squid for the first time. It was actually really good. I'll post a picture of it. Great hidden gem well worth a try.

This place is in such a different location and you might miss it if you don't look for it carefully. The service is amazing, so friendly and double check what you ordered. The food is full of flavor and the best I've ever had when it comes to Ramen. Quiet and quaint. Highly recommend this mom and pop restaurant to everyone!

The food was ok. Really good sushi. The fried cheese cake was not good. Waited almost 30 mins for it. It came out as a fried tempura cheese cake. Not good. The people there are really nice.

Don't let the outside appearance of this place turn you off. The staff was extremely warm, welcoming, and very on top of it. The prices are very reasonable and the sashimi and sushi was delicious and expertly prepared. Would absolutely recommend and look forward to coming back on my next trip to Boise.

My boyfriend and I absolutely love this place! The staff is incredibly friendly and welcoming. Our food is consistently so good in quality and taste, we’ve become regulars and find ourselves here almost every week on our day off. The staff even remembers what we like when we dine there and I cannot express how much that resonates with guests over all but especially my boyfriend and I who have each been in the industry for 8 years. We love this place so much and can’t wait to come in tomorrow for our weekly lunch date. :)

We made a reservation and got seated exactly on time! They were extremely busy but they still made an effort to make the service outstanding. The food was some of the best I've had. Thai tea was DELICIOUS. Good prices. Highly recommend as it is a new favorite.

Excellent service & so far the best sushi we’ve had in Boise. A lot of people recommend the Island Roll but honestly the Boise Roll was our favorite! My 10 yr old nephew loved his teriyaki chicken and rice and my 3 year old actually liked our Ocean roll, and her ramen noodles. Good options for the whole family. Reasonable prices too!

Eat This, Not That selected this place for best sushi in Idaho earlier this year. They're right. Sushi is small, dainty, flavor-packed & bite-sized, as sushi should be. Ramen is also on point. They offer a good ramen combo deal (back of menu), so you can have your miso, spicy miso or tonkotsu chashu (pork) ramen & favorite side too, like California roll. Add hamachi roll & wash it down with hot green tea & ice cool water. Good deal. Go after 8 p.m. to avoid crowds or do pick up drive thru.

Food was delicious! Service was extremely fast and kind. I ordered Harumaki and the Angel Roll..so yummy. My fiance ordered chicken fried rice and the Sweet Potato Roll. My fiance has a pretty intense gluten allergy and didn't let our server know ahead of time, so once we got our food, I saw that the sweet potato in his roll was battered and fried, which we weren't expecting, on top of that my fiance didn't ask for fried rice without soy sauce, which was our fault and we should have asked about this when we ordered. However, I asked our waitress about the sweet potato to verify and she immediately offered to have both dishes made again, no gluten added to them, free of charge..which was extremely kind. We felt bad for having them make it again, but will certainly remember how quick and kind the staff were to accommodate us. Thank you to our server and the kitchen for the delicious food and kind, high quality service. We will be back!

Just needed something fresh and kid friendly and ordered two Philadelphia rolls for delivery. My kids gave it two thumbs up. We also ordered the kids box A teriyaki chicken. Unfortunately, we didn’t really like this one. Chicken tasted dry and almost cafeteria food quality. Next time I’d stick with just ordering fresh sushi rolls. Five stars still because the sushi was great and the customer service was nice.

This place is excellent. We stopped in while purchasing a vehicle down the road and it did more than hit the spot. One of the best side salads I've ever had. The dressing was out of this world delicious. I was nearly licking the bowl after I ate it. Ramen was to die for. The staff were friendly, clean, safe and professional. If you get the chance and you are in the area, do yourself a favor and get some of this amazing food.

To be fair, we didn’t order sushi and maybe that’s what they’re known for. But…the restaurant very dirty and run down. We paid extra for fried rice and it tasted good, but it had almost clumps of salt in it, so kinda briny. Miso soup was blah. Tempura was good but they gave us very little dipping sauce. We left feeling like we had too much grease!

Do yourself a favor and just go! This place is fantastic! Came on a Friday night and put our name down on the long list and we’re still seated promptly. The sushi is top notch (we got the Boise roll). We love spicy ramen and this ramen was no disappointment! Prices are reasonable, wonderful service, lovely and homey atmosphere.

Maybe it was because we came after the dinner rush (3:00pm), the ramen noodles were mushy like they sat for too long and the broth was lukewarm. The staff was nice, the restaurant was nice, and the location is desirable. Might need to try again when it's freshly made.

This place has some of the best sushi in Boise, and great prices! Everything is fresh, and their lunch specials are cheap and delicious. They also have a large menu with lots of other options, so there's something for everyone, not just sushi. I highly recommend this restaurant.

First time visiting, I was heartened that they were open at 6pm on a Sunday night. After calling, they confirmed they were open with a pleasant attitude on the phone. As we arrived, we noticed how busy they were considering it was a rainy Sunday evening. We easily found a parking place, and meandered inside. Once inside, it was a cozy little place and to our surprise, just about every table was full! We found a spot near the door and were seated immediately. The waitress came over to take our drink order, and brought us some nice ice water with a lemon slice in clean glasses. After that, I was able to order my favorite Japanese beer, and when I asked for a glass, I was pleasantly surprised it was chilled. My brother and I ordered ramen, with the Tonkatsu broth. He has the island version, I had chicken. It wasn't a very long wait before our ramen arrived, and it looked very appetizing. The broth was yummy, it was warm but not too hot, and the noodles and meat was cooked and seasoned well. Scallions, a soft-boiled egg, seaweed, and sprouts rounded out our meal. It was very hearty and everything tasted great. I am so glad we found this place, it continued to be busy and packed the entire time we were there, with people arriving and leaving and picking up take out orders. I can see why they got the great reviews they did, the service and food were excellent. Overall a great experience, we will be returning for both take out and dine-in! Service: polite, responsive, and on top of everything Food: Double shrimp roll was absolutely perfect! King crab avocado hand roll was very good as well. Fresh and good flavor. Really enjoy the options to order. My favorite is their spicy tuna roll. I expected the pork belly ramen to have a little more fat on the meat. My only wish is they would use a kosher salt for their edamame versus what appears to be table salt. Kosher salt on their edamame would definitely put that over the top.

Ordered the Spicy Miso Chashu ramen and it was delicious! My wife enjoyed the beef fried rice. The food was very good. The service was great. We will definitely be back! Give this place a try.

Ordered for pick up and I got stuck in traffic. I panicked because I would arrive a few minutes after closing. The restaurant called me to make sure I was still coming for my order and I let them know what was going on and they made sure I still got my pickup order even a few minutes after it was closed. This was my first experience trying the food here and it was delicious, and the restaurant went above and beyond to provide excellent service.

The mark of a good sushi restaurant is if its plain fish and rice can hold its own. I am cautious whenever any restaurants features too many “spicy”-this or “spicy”-that menu items, as strong and sweet sauces may cover up the fact that the fish would never stand on its own merit. In this regard, Island Sushi needs no culinary trickery. My personal test involves selecting traditional styles such as Nigiri (fish over rice) and Temaki (cone style) are wonderfully tasty and fresh. And in such minimalism, Island Sushi succeeds significantly where others do not. Another treat they serve is Tonkotsu (Pork) Ramen, which I request thinly cut. This is an always reliable, always heartwarming dish. They provide Togarashi, which is Japanese chili pepper – which you can add for “heat” which compliments the flavor and is a welcomed addition, especially during winter. The staff are always warm and courteous and the service has always been exceptional.

Really great service, nice people. Thai teas are huge!!!!! And delicious! Ordered a ramen to share, it was pretty large. Great flavor. Came with a salad which was fabulous. Ordered a mixed poké appetizer which was amazing with the sauce it came in. Lastly we had a rainbow roll which also was tasty.

Fantastic sushi! Great place for sushi, wonderful selections to choose from. Friendly staff, wonderful restaurant, decor is very nice. Smaller restaurant, but seating is comfortable for everyone. They have high chairs and booster seats for little ones. They make the sushi in front of the restaurant so you can watch.

Embarrassed to say I’ve never tried authentic ramen, but I would say based on my watching of food videos (lol) that this was spot on! So unbelievably delicious. We had the shrimp ramen with the tonkostu soup base, catapillar roll, and the shumai appetizer. Yum!!! We will be back! Service was efficient and very friendly! 10/10!

I have tried a good amount of sushi places and this Sushi Ramen place is one of the better ones I tried the catapillar roll which I've tried before and I tried the boise roll and it is definitely one of my top favorites now the only thing I would say about this place is they need to expand you know a place is real good when you have multiple groups waiting for a table might wanna see if u can reserve a table I'll definitely be going back

This quaint little sushi bar reminds me of one I frequented when I lived a few states away. The people here are warm, kind and cordial, they sincerely want you to have a wonderful experience here and it shows. The miso soup is run of the mill, if you've had it at one bar you've had it here. Squid salad was delectable and fresh, albeit slightly chewy. I ordered the Spicy roll and Boise roll. Both were made to order, and all of the ingredients tasted freshly prepared and cut. There was an abundance of cilantro in the boise roll, perhaps a little less would help it be less overpowering. All in all, good price for good company and good food. I'd definitely eat here again.

Some of the best sushi and ramen Boise has to offer. The staff are incredibly nice and attentive, and will make sure you enjoy your time. I have had a few of the sushi rolls and highly reccomend the deep fried selection. The chashu tonkotsu ramen is to die for and the fried rice is better than any other place in Boise hands down. I tried the chicken ramen and teriyaki chicken on my most recent visit and they had an odd overpowering flavor of toasted sesame oil. The waitress was extremely apologetic and took up the feedback with the chef and took it off my bill. Always great customer service, food, and atmosphere. I will be back again soon.

Me and friends wanted to have some ramen after a snowy day and were pleasantly surprised by the sashimi and ramen served at Island sushi and ramen. The yellowtail sashimi was really fresh. The tonkotsu ramen was especially flavorful and delicious. The chashu meat was cooked to perfection and goes really well with the ramen. Paired with some of the sake available in house, you got a nice warm meal to satisfy the soul on a cold day.

Maybe it was just a busy dinner rush! The ramen was fresh, rich and a large portion for the price. My friend has sushi which was also very tasty. The Thai tea is a must here!

Amazing Pho, sushi, and stir fried noodles. The Pho and noodles are out of this world, amazing! Staff are very attentive and kind. Portions are good. Uodate: They have gotten so busy that you usually have to wait for a table so be smart and get on their wait list. It's worth the wait either way. Delicious and very reasonably priced sushi. The sushi was delicious and arranged on the plate in a very pleasing way. The miso soup is honestly some of the best I've had from around here. Service was great, every time my wife got low on tea it was refilled right away without us having to ask. The waitress was very attentive and the sushi chef definitely knows what he is doing. Japanese food in a strip center. Easy to navigate to - its right on Fairview av. The food is quite good so five stars. Areas of improvement in my opinion even though I gave 5 stars: I believe the teriyaki could be better if it were grilled -.with a tiny more soy sauce in the teriyaki sauce . The rolled sushi was as good as anywhere but I didn't try the sashimi. Miso soup was great - it's hard to screw up Miso. The house salad was cute with a peanut vinegar type dressing.

I had the Island roll, a special roll that was very delicately put together, all of the flavors were complimentary with paper thin slices of lemon, lime, and jalapeño, and all put together with excellent presentation. The taste was incredibly good. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. The restaurant is very small so some of their supplies were stacked in the dining area, but honestly the food was worth it. My companions had a regular roll and a bowl of ramen, both enjoyed their meal as well.

We had such a great time. It was Monday night and yet there were a few customers. Our server, Taryn, was very intuitive and helpful. She took fantastic care of us! The sushi chef and other server were also nice. I hope this place does well (notoriously bad location) because it is the best. The Sushi tasted fresh on a Monday!

My husband ordered the shrimp tempura meal and I had the spicy ramen. As you can see from the pictures, their food presentation gets two thumbs up. He said his meal was amazing in taste and proportions. Now, I LOVE good, Japanese ramen (I lived in Japan for a year and had the most delicious ramen while there) and was excited to try Island Sushi and Ramen's version. I'm sorry to say that I was disappointed because whatever base ramen flavor there was, the spice added to make it spicy hot (I'm guessing Sriracha) was a bit much and overwhelmed the flavor. That said, I plan to go back and try the non-spicy ramen. I give this restaurant five stars, even with my less-than-stellar first visit, because the people whom had served us were amazing, the restaurant is super clean, and I am looking forward to trying everything else on their menu. A good friend of mine said that their sushi is to die for. Another of the Japanese cuisine which is a favorite of mine. So, I highly recommend them (just not the spicy ramen). 😉

I’m not a big sushi person, so for a restaurant to offer noodles, rice, teriyaki, hibachi and ramen in addition to a full sushi bar was a great compromise for large groups. Poke bowl lunch special was fantastic! Service was ok, Sushi chef's were fast & presentation was fun. The restaurant was freezing, I really wished I'd had a sweatshirt of some sort. The most courteous and thoughtful staff experience I've ever had. They were able to meet all of my change requests for kid box meals and were even able to discern that we were vegetarian by what we ordered. This led to them bringing out vegetarian specific sauces and of course offering vegetarian food items. The sweet potato sushi was exceptionally delicious. We will be back for sure.

We decided to try out Island Sushi And Ramen as we’ve been on the hunt for good Ramen since moving to Boise 1.5 years ago. We started with the Typhoon pepper which quite tasty! Service was prompt and friendly, which was refreshing. We each got the ramen meal which came with salad, ramen, and a side. I got the chashu ramen with a California roll as a side. The California roll was quite good. And my friend’s Boise Roll looked delicious. So I’d say their sushi is good. Unfortunately my ramen was mediocre, at best. It did not have as much flavor as chashu should, I ended up having to add some soy sauce to it. Also the chashu was not a nice crispy well cooked peice of pork belly, but more like peices of pork chop or tenderloin. I’d go back for the sushi, but the whole reason I went was for the ramen, and that was a no go.

Everyone that works here is super friendly and attentive! The menu is easy to pick from and everything that we ordered was delicious! We ordered the Maki Combo B and a Philadelphia Hand Roll. I would recommend those Maki Combos! Such a great deal! I'd recommend this place anytime!

This place is always busy but if you have to wait, it's totally worth it! The dynamite roll, the crunchy roll, or the princess roll is definitely the play for sushi! It is so good!! One of my top go-to places in Boise/Meridian. The differentiator is the ramen noodles. It’s nice to get tonkotsu pork bone broth that takes hours for the goodness and flavor to create a deeply satisfying experience. I request the pork to be sliced thin as I prefer the texture that way, and opted out of the boiled egg. At the end, the soup is a wonderful treat to finish up. I add the red pepper powder to add heat, and the ramen and broth are taken to a next level!

Island Sushi and Ramen did not disappoint this evening! They were amazing! After looking up Sushi restaurants in the area and seeing how many positive reviews, they lived up to the hype. It's a small restaurant feel with an extremely friendly group of staff. They were polite, helpful, and accommodating. What really shined was their food. We tried some rolls and two piece sushi. The sushi tasted and looked very fresh. The rolls were beautiful and had great flavor. It was pretty busy, had to wait about 30 mins to get a seat, but it was also Mother's day. I'd highly recommend you give them a try, as I know we will be coming back!

We love the miso soup and salad as sides. Our favorites are - signature and dinner sushi rolls, poke bowl, yaki soba noodles, katsu, warm sake basically everything 😂❤️ we love the vibe of this place. I recommend it to everyone who wants to have a relaxing night. Try to call them first and get a reservation on Fridays as there is waiting list.

Today was the first day I ate here and let me tell you it was so freaking tasty!! I got the spicy miso seafood ramen. I got medium spicy and it was the perfect level of spice. The vegetable stir fry was also delicious. I could not stop saying out loud how freaking good that food was on the way home. This was my 1st time here so I wanted to get a bunch of stuff a try. Ordered the Gyoza, Chashu Miso Ramen, King Roll, and a side of fried rice. Gyoza: You can tell they're made from scratch and they are really delicious. Chashu Miso Ramen: It's a mix of their Tonkatsu and Miso. Like nothing I'd ever tried but super addicting. Can't wait to try their Tonkatsu too! King Roll: The roll itself is amazing with three different types of fish. The only think I would change was the red sauce drizzled on top. Its was like a creamy vinegar sauce. Next time I'd still order that roll because it was delicious, just ask to hold the sauce. Fried Rice: The fried rice is a must have, and a really good price. Best I've had here in town. Edit: Accidentally let this in my drafts, but went back again last weekend. Tried the spicy seaside roll which was delicious, and had to do fried rice again. I just realized they have yakisoba, so I'm hoping to give that a try this week too since the other ramen place in town has amazing yakisoba Edit 2: Tried the yakisoba tonight; it was good, but I still prefer ramen house. These were missing that smoky, wok charred flavor that really makes the dish for me. But I'd definitely still recommend everything else I've tried there.

This place has lovely sushi rolls. It's the primary reason we visit though the other items on the menu are also good. Something they offer that few others I've seen do is a ramen bowl. They have a hot tea and a Thai tea, my go to drinks for Asian cuisine of most varieties. Today we were waiting on the last member of our group to join us and my only complaint was that they never checked on us or refilled our drinks while we were waiting for that person to arrive. Once our group was together the service was great. The food was delicious and we had a good time.

They simply weren’t prepared to have a full restaurant. That’s understandable, but they shouldn’t have taken our names and had us wait for 35 mins before they told us that they were out of fish. They should have said that when we put our names on the waiting list.

I can not say enough nice things about this place. The owners, Rachel and Ming, are warm and welcoming. Ming's sushi is to die for. It's the only place in the valley you can get conservatively priced sashimi that tastes fresh and vibrant. The ramen is sizably portioned out and the broth has a deep, rich flavor to it. For the pricing, the portions are extremely generous and you won't leave hungry. 10/10, I go here often.

Finally gave this place a try and we were not disappointed. We have been used to eating ayce sushi most recently and honestly for the amount of food we ordered at Island sushi, the price was comparable to ayce and we left with full belies. We showed up around 5 and we were quickly seated and received our food in a decent time after ordering. By the time we were leaving the crowd was starting to show up. Fish was fresh and had great fat quality. The salmon skin salad was absolutely amazing. I'm excited to plan our next visit so we can enjoy some ramen. If you haven't yet tried this place, you must.

Fantastic all around! For starters we ordered edamame and it came out steaming(like it should), and shrimp tempura which was very good too. For sushi I recomend trying the Island roll, the very thin slice of lemon or lime was a great twist, refreshing and delicious. The yellowstone and angel rolls were also very good. Most importantly the fish was fresh. We are from california, we eat sushi a lot and even enjoy eating fresh fish I've caught raw. You can tell the team cares about quality. And even though the staff was masked up, they didnt treat us like lepers, they were friendly and very helpful. We will be coming back here.

The sushi was pretty good grade, and for the most part seemed well sloced, except I definitely had to crunch through a little scale on my mackerel. I didn't mind it much since it was still very fresh and tasty, but I know it probably would've bothered others. And their ramen looked fairly good- my stepbrother ordered it. He said the broth was very tasty, but the noodles don't seem to be homemade. Overall, a great place if you're looking for an everyday Japanese meal, especially for lunch specials.

Not only is the ramen divine and the sushi fresh, but the people who work there are so KIND! It is always one of the absolute best dining experiences. They are also working hard to keep their dining safe through COVID. Cannot recommend them enough! My favs: chashu ramen with tonkotsu broth (add a little sriracha for even more flavor), fried rice, smoked salmon nigiri. I rarely deviate from this but everything I’ve tasted is fantastic.

I have only ordered from this restaurant once. I got the chicken teriyaki and tempura vegetables. It was really delicious - I loved the onions that had been simmered in teriyaki sauce that came with the chicken teriyaki. The tempura vegetables were also excellent even after being delivered. Randomly tried this place one time and haven't stopped coming back. Not only is the service the friendliest of nearly any restaurant we've been to in Boise, the food is phenomenal. I'm not that familiar with Japanese ramen compared to Korean ramen, but the time I had it, it was really good (had the miso veggie). Our absolute favorite is their lunch sushi special, 3 rolls with a salad and miso. And the quality for the price is astounding, some expensive rolls I've gotten at other restautants don't have as much fish as these have with such minimal rice. Their best lunch roll is actually the sweet potato in my opinion. This is one of those restaurants I wish I could rate higher than 5 stars.

Just had lunch today. Ordered two bowls of Ramen, one tonkatsu with chashu pork, and another tonkatsu with vegetables. The tonkatsu broth was flavorful, and perfectly seasoned. This place is such an undiscovered gem. The prices are extremely reasonable, especially considering how filling the food is. The ramen is absalutly the best I've ever had. Not just you're instant ramen or microwave, no this is slow cooked tonkotsu broth or miso for the vegetarians and vegan crowd. The noodles are cooked to tender perfection. With a nice scoop of green onions and sweet corn and been sprouts. Absalutly amazing. This restaurant is something I will always make a point to visit whenever I'm in town.

Appetizers and salad should not take so long and come out with the entrees, and sushi items ordered together shouldn't come out a long time apart, and almost an hour after the first items come out is too long to still be waiting for part of the initial order.

It's so good my boyfriend and I actually came back *the next day* to try more. Their ramen is so amazing, and so flavorful. He got kimchi ramen and loved it because it was very spicy. Mine was more filling and rich. The noodles were perfect, the flavor just... Wow. Our server Hannah was super sweet and very attentive. The first time we went, we got salmon teriyaki. It was the freshest most perfect salmon I've had in Idaho. He got fried rice, which was also the best I've tried. He also got vegetable hibachi and enjoyed it very much. Altogether a fabulous experience. The server told us they find the freshest fish--we even saw a huge delivery when we were there. I can only imagine how good their sushi must be!

Don't be afraid to spice it up, my wife wasn't a huge fan of the miso mix but loved mine. the eggs are cooked perfectly not hard boiled but a little gooeyness to the yolk meat was great. My son took me here for mother's day. 1st visit & we had the boise, the prince & the yellowstone rolls. the yellowstone was hands down the best of the three & will absolutely get it again. i like the prince. the lemon juice was an interesting addition that worked for me. my son did not like it. the boise was the first time i liked eel on a roll, but not a preference for next time. it seemed to have a bit much going on. my son said his drink tasted bad, but couldn't tell me what was going on with it, he had a sprite. the staff was very friendly & willing to provide service. i do hope they will have a happy hour or an all you can eat sushi option at some point. just can't find that in boise. the restaurant is clean inside, but has sake boxes stored out on the floor behind an end booth. i get it's a smallish location,but that just seemed unorganized to me. over all a good experience. food & service good. didn't give me a wow factor, but will return soon.

Update: This is now my favorite Japanese restaurant in town. The proprietors are super friendly and the food is fantastic. Regarding the aforementioned sake debacle, as I understand it, the machine just had to be flushed since it was brand new. So no big deal, just an opening week glitch. I haven't retried the ramen but I've been in twice for sushi and it's very good. The ingredients are fresh and there is just the perfect amount of rice - not too much nor too little. This place is definitely a keeper. Old review: I live near this restaurant and, after the passing of Siam Orchid, my late favorite Thai restaurant formerly in the same location, I was pleased to see a ramen shop going in. Boise isn't exactly a ramen Mecca and I've been less than impressed with the previous sole option, Ramen Sho, so their opening has been awaited with much anticipation. My wife and I dined in late Monday evening. I ordered the chashu ramen combination with tonkatsu broth and a California roll; my wife ordered the spicy miso ramen and an order of hot sake. The sake came first with a complimentary calamari salad. The salad was the standard prepackaged fare you can buy at the Asian grocery stores, neither good nor bad. The sake tasted off, slightly like pork broth. It was also decidedly weak. Either they got a bad batch or it's cheap sake, so I wasn't a fan. Our entrees soon came and were presented very nicely. The California roll, usually more of a filler food for me, was fantastic. They used crab stick instead of the awful mayonnaise crab salad so many restaurants now use. The ramen had both high and low points. The chashu was wonderful. Opposed to the few razor thin slices of tasteless, chewy meat I've received at Ramen Sho, it was tender, flavorful, and abundant. Also, unlike Ramen Sho, the hard-boiled egg was perfectly done, not over-boiled. The broth, though, was a bit disappointing. It needed salt, admittedly a personal preference, but even after salting it up to where I like it, I found it lacked the richness of a good tonkatsu broth. It was a bit thin and lacking in flavor. They also didn't have shichimi togarashi, a ramen shop staple. The ramen wasn't bad, it was just okay. Overall, the impression was good considering it was their third day of business. I'd say three stars for an established business, four for a brand new one. The menu offerings are expansive but, as far as sushi goes, nothing you can't find in the valley. Considering the quality of the California roll, the lowest of all rolls, I'll definitely try their sushi in the near future. The ramen is good but has potential for greatness. I'd suggest a "build your own" ramen selection and more topping options - wood ear mushroom, fermented bamboo, black garlic oil, and even butter, to name a few ideas.

I visited this place to get a taste of their ramen. There are a number of Asian restaurants in the Meridian (though this place is technically in Boise) area, though I don't know a lot that serves ramen. My ramen was served with a California Maki and I thought it was one of the better value-for-money deals I got from any Asian restaurant in this area. The serving size of the California Maki was surprisingly good and the serving size of the ramen was decent. Easily worth the price I paid. The ramen's noodles is of good quality, and the cut of belly meat was really good in terms of fat/meat ratio. The broth was on the less salty side but I easily remedied it by adding soy sauce. It easily blended well with the soup. I haven't been to Japan and I'm not sure if a ramen soup is intended to be not that salty (I was actually expecting it to be as salty as your stereotypical Asian instant noodles) or this just an Americanized way of presenting ramen. Not that this is a big issue for me, but anyway, my waitress was very accommodating. I forgot to ask her name. I wish I did, but she's the friendliest one I had so far (of any Asian restaurant I've availed in this area). The interior of this place looks good. It's sort of brightly painted, giving you an sense of space and coziness. It does not try to be pretentiously upscale, which is good if that's your sort of thing. The pricing on the menu is probably the best value I've encountered so far in this category of restaurants.

Everything is good here! If you like Ramen and spicy food, get the Chashu Ramen with medium/very spicy Tonkotsu broth. Their sushi is excellent as well! My favorites are the Angel roll, Prince roll, Spicy Hot roll and the Crispy roll.

This place reminds you of the warmth of the Japanese (when you first arrived at their establishment, most of them start saying hello, welcoming you to the establishment, except they're saying in English. 😊) Throughout the stay, the warmth greetings, waitress checking in on us, it feels very welcoming without being intrusive. I had tasted a more authentic ramen in another state, but the pork belly ramen, that is a generous portion of pork belly, and very well cooked. Soft boiled eggs are perfectly done, and the tonkatsu broth was a good simmerred broth. [The miso based soup was a bit more flavourful, saltier?] Served in perfect temperature, not boiling hot. I am quite impressed with the ramen. Price of dishes are very reasonable.

Fantastic sushi and even BETTER RAMEN! I've heard some friends complaining that they put a sprinkling of corn in the soup. I personally like it. The grilled chicken and Island ramens are a definite yes. I hope they'll add shōyu and karē ramen at some point.

This place has DELICIOUS ramen and even TASTIER gyoza (potstickers). We did a pick-up order and everything went mostly great. In the online order, I had requested no Bean sprouts on the Island Ramen because I'm allergic, and my partner got a chicken ramen with no special instructions. When we pick it up, I see on the receipt that the Island Ramen has no Bean sprouts, but when we get it back and open it up, there's Bean sprouts in the Island Ramen but no Bean sprouts in the Chicken Ramen. I double checked the receipt again to make sure it wasn't an error on my end, but alas, the receipt said no Bean sprouts in the Island Ramen. They had removed the bean sprouts from the wrong Ramen Bowl. I had to spend ten minutes painstakingly picking out the bean sprouts... While my allergy to Bean sprouts isn't severe or life threatening, it's still very uncomfortable to eat them and I wish they had paid more attention to that special instruction...
