I get that it’s a local legend and that’s great. But it’s not a 4.6 burger restaurant. All of these burgers were average. I’d suggest better salting the ground beef and maybe letting the salt season it for longer. The fries are okay, not great. I was so excited about the tots, but honestly they had a weird outhouse-like smell. Good milkshakes. That was easily the best part. Oh…and no Coca Cola products. They’ve committed the great Pepsi sin. Super nice service though.

Big Jud’s NOT Big Chud’s. Jud’s always coming through with that TOO BIG burger. When asked if I want a side with whatever burger choice I make that day, I don’t wanna sound cheap, but what’s the point? This burger is a meal on its own. Maybe if I had a couple of leprechauns I was traveling with that wanted some sides and maybe if them two smallies wanted to split a burger amongst themselves, I’d go for it. But not when I’m alone, no sir! Anyways, service is always pretty good. Burgers are always a hit. I’ve never left hungry…. Can’t imagine that’s possible unless you just had an ice cold free water (which they serve). I’d recommend sides though if you have a place to keep ‘em fresh, like the pocket of your dope cargo pants, cause you aren’t going to be able to eat em all AND a delicious TOO BIG burger. The ranch is real good and that fry sauce is the ticket. So go on an ride that ride, push that bush, smoke that dank…. Get a TOO BIG burger and stretch your stomach. Oh, and one more thing… It’s Big Jud’s NOT Big Chud’s.

Forgot to snap a picture due to my very dramatic 3 year old. Waitress was very nice and caring. Made an ice pack for my daughter and quick to take our order and bring us food. Burgers were delicious. Mother in Law and daughter enjoyed the strawberry milkshake. Not from this area, but if we visit again I would go back.

Been to the other Big Jud's a long time ago in Ashton and had fond memories. Did not live up to the memories. The food is on the bland side, not bad but not a 5 star burger. It could use a little more flavor in the meat and on the fries. Not bad but doesn't live up to the hype. If Boise had a tourist trap restaurant this would be it. Boise has a decent food scene and I would substitute this out for any other of the places we ate at over the weekend.

Bring your appetite! The portions are far above average. Everything tasted great. Definitely worth a stop when in Boise! Kira was super nice and friendly making our dining experience even better. I got the big Jud One Pounder. Will definitely come back next time I'm in Boise.

Aside from the delicious hamburgers and crispy tater tots Big Jud's makes THE BEST Scotch 'n Soda in Boise. I had my first S & S when I was 15yo working at Chow Now on Broadway and Orchard and Big Jud's is just as tasty! 🥤

Was craving a mushroom swiss and onion rings. Figured I'd try Big Juds. Not only did it hit the spot, but 1/4 through the meal I was already getting full. Huge burger! Totally worth the money, and totally hit the spot. As a matter of fact, this is the first un-prompted review I've ever posted. 5 stars definitely recommend!!🤤

Ate here yesterday (9-7-19) and got the $38 burger and fries/tots... super yummy and the service was excellent. The burger fed 3 people and half went home for leftovers.... restaurant was clean and waitress super nice. Will definitely eat here again If in the area

Great nostalgic burger joint. The French fries a very different, giant Idaho potato fries with soft potato centers. Burgers are delicious and made fresh. Dessert ice cream is very good! Nice table service, staff are friendly. Restaurant is very clean and well kept. Price is reasonable. We will definitely be visiting again.

I love how big this hamburger was. We got the big judd with fries/hash browns and also some deep fried pickles. They have some good burgers and service. Very friendly people on the inside. We were only able to eat 1/4 of the burger so we ate the rest later that night. The cups are also big. I guess they follow the saying "go big or go home" very pleased with my visit here and will be back again.

A Boise classic. Quality, mostly locally-sourced diner fare with very upbeat, friendly staff. Home of the famous 1lb cheeseburger (up to 4 lb if you think you can handle it). Both quality AND quantity.

We are new in Boise and this was our first time at Big Jud's. The service was very friendly and very good. We ordered a cheese burger and fries and a mushroom bacon burger and onion rings. The burgers were very good, perfectly cooked and on very good buns. The Idaho fries were great as were the onion rings. We also ordered vanilla and chocolate shakes that were terrific and served with enough left in the mixing container to fill a second glass. The ice cream in the shakes was great. We left stuffed and happy. We will definitely be going back for more great food and service.

Ok, first off...WOW!! The sizes are perfect and I love the fact that I ordered a large order of tots and when I got finished I still hadn't found the bottom of the barrel for the tots. I also got the privilege of hearing one of the most interesting things I've heard in a long time. A young lady was taking a friend out and she had never had fry sauce. She told her friend that was an Idaho thing.. I had to smile a bit on that one. I love the variety on the menu. Salads, chicken sandwiches, and then what everyone really comes in for, the burger list. I always order a black and bleu whenever I first visit a burger joint so I went with that. It was perfection! The cheese was melted perfectly and the burger was done with just the right mount of black on it. The only thing left besides planning my next visit here is to decide if I want one of those yummy fried Twinkies lol Big Juds! You rock! Thank you for a please evening and for filling my tummy! I will be back!!

A must visit for all burger lovers! I had a double mushroom bacon burger with avocado. All my favorites on a single burger! The 2/3 lbs of meat are locally sourced and tasty. I think it had the most bacon, mushrooms and avacodo I've ever had on a burger. That shake and burger during happy hr was $14! Check it out! Oh and they have a 2lb burger meal challenge!

Big Jud’s went downhill when they upgraded to the new building. Seems like the food is more fast food style now. When they were in the small building, the had a packed house and a line out the door. I think they were trying to solve this “issue” (I didn’t mind waiting before) so they streamlined their food service but accidentally killed the vibe that made the old place great. Although the service was ok, the food seems to have suffered.

Great burger joint... Homemade fries, lots of choices for burgers. I had the Reuben burger and my husband had the one pound burger... Both juicy and flavorful, not sure what to expect from a huge burger, but both were great! We also tried the fried pickles which were great! Totally recommend. Someone next to us had homemade shakes and they said we should try them next time!

The burgers are really good! But the best thing here was the milkshakes! My wife is a huge fan of milkshakes and quite the fan of Jud's!! My favorite is the chocolate strawberry. They only have one size, but if you eat there they give it to you old school style. And you basically get 2 for the price of one!

It was a slow day inside and was very nice to chat with my wife and have a great burger. The online orders was disruptive because we were seated next to the counter and the traffic was getting worse. We had a great experience with the malts and onion rings. I would like more options for the flavor. I will be back soon

Wow, still the best burger in Idaho! I've been going to Jud's since 1997 when they opened in what used to be a small Kodak store off of Protest Hill. It was probably 2000 when I completed the Big Jud challenge (not the double), but barely. At two-thirds of the way through, it was getting a little dicey. After returning after several years, I'm happy to report nothing has changed... It's still the best in Idaho! I highly recommend the "super burger"...

First time experiencing Big Jud’s. Blue bacon burger was so good, tots were okay but hubby’s fries were great. Server Alicia was so friendly and helpful! We’ll definitely be back.

The burger had great flavor and all of the produce was crisp and delicious. The bun was pretty dense and the fries had to be some of the best in Idaho. I wish my stomach was big enough to complete the Big Jud One Pound Challenge. Our boxing team Billings Elite Amateur Boxing will be back and eat there again on our way to victory. The staff was spectacular and helpful in every aspect.

Great experience. We had the "Man vs Food" burger. Oh WOW, we had leftovers for 2 days. I would describe it but then I would rob you of your own adventure! My grandson was able to eat half of it, my wife and I ate maybe a 1/4. It came with fries and tots also.

My experience with the Wait Staff was attentive and informative as this was my fist visit, it came off both welcoming, natural, and entertaining. The burger was good as well and the scratch made fries were the way I like them. A little greasier then the par broil then fry method but yummy just the same more of a home made skin on fry experience with Idaho Potatoes proudly served.

It's sad because my man got his Burger was great I thought my chicken sandwich was pretty good it was a chicken club so it was a breast of chicken with bacon and cheese however if they had taken a meat Miallet and pounded it a little bit the chicken would have been so much more tender. it was hard to bite through. In addition biggest problem was it was dry as dry could be. It had no mayo no nothing a dry chicken breast dry bacon, dry bun. The bun didn't even have oil on it when toasted. But there were no condiments on the side or offered with it. There was no condiments offered with the hamburger. I ordered a side of onion rings and fried pickles. That was all we received. After we got home I went back and looked at the menu and it did not offer anything and accompaniment with either of those sandwiches. I was pretty shocked at the prices and they didn't include fries or chips. I've been in this industry 41 yrs. Onion rings weren't bad but all we got was some mayo mixed with ketchup. I do same with tabasco for my kids and is way better. Tons of fried pickles went in the trash, they were awful along with sauce. But it cost me 30 some dollars plus a $9 tip oh my God I would have expected so much more

I have eaten here a couple times and both have been wonderful. The burgers are my favorite part, they are cooked to perfection. Both times I have ordered to go, but the interaction with staff has always been pleasant and they have gotten me out the door very quickly. The only thing I don't love is their fries, but that is a personal preference thing. They are cut thicker than I prefer, so next time I will go for the tots. Good eats for a fair price. You'll definitely be leaving full!!

The food is so GOOD! Definitely quality burgers & their deep fried pickles are my favorite in town 😍 But best of all the customer service is great at this location.. they are so kind and speedy. We came in an hour before close on Valentine’s Day and had to wait for a table due to limited seating with COVID, we felt bad for dining in and leaving right before they were closed but they made us feel so welcome and still gave us good service. This place was in a totally different location when I was here in 2011. it had an older building next door. And in 2013 they remodeled completely. It's a cool atmosphere inside. Food is really good. They have shakes. They are not open on Sundays and do not serve alcohol. But the food was delicious. Between my wife and I we each had a burger a small tots and a small fry. We could have gotten by with just one of those, as the smalls of the sides are rather big for two people.

Great place to get a burger to share. You know when your drink comes out in an ultra super size that the quantities will not be normal at this place. Good menu options with variety and fresh ingredients. At this location the service is great. Famous for their gigantic burgers that you can eat until you are ready to explode or save yourself and share the burger with a friend.

I've been going to Jud's for many, many years. I've always loved their burgers. However, my last visit 06/10 at about noon left me disappointed. I had my usual western burger and it was just meh. It was dry and lacking flavor. I won't write them off, as everyone is entitled to a bad day, but I was disappointed.

If you're hungry and want a filling great tasting burger with great fries, tots, onion rings and great desserts you can't beat this place especially for big eaters! From monster 2 pound, 1 pound or smaller great tasting burgers and extras, this is the place to go! Always fresh unfrozen hamburger and extras. Great milkshakes, beverages and always great service! They really took care of us today. We we're running late and needed to get in and out quickly. We phoned them with our order and when we got there, they had just set it on the table--piping hot and ready for us. Although they don't normally do this, it worked out perfectly for us, and we had no problem making our appointment on time. The food was great too.

Great burger. I knew I couldn't handle the monster burgers, so I ordered a "simple" double. It was enormous... and delicious. I can recommend the Scotch and Soda too (think vanilla Sprite). Our table also enjoyed the fish and chips, and the sweet potato waffle fries. Well done, big Jud!

I have heard a lot of people rave about this place. However, for me I don't see what the hype is. The staff was pleasant and more attentive than some other places I've been. But, the burger was good but average and I didn't care for the fries. With that said, I would still recommend you trying it as you may enjoy it more than I did.

High quality ingredients, expertly crafted, burger doesn't fall apart, onion rings are crisp, fries are crunchy and soft inside, sauces included with ample quantity. Great in house and holds quality when taken home. Price is very affordable given the quality. Solid 5/7, would go again

Underwhelming. This place could definitely use some 'updating' to have it be more identified. This place is a basic burger and fry place that is fine, but certainly underwhelming. They have two sauces, basic fry sauce, and basic ranch. With a place like this, you'd expect it to be something more, but it really isn't. It blends in with everything else, and it's rather expensive for being basic. Having sauces that are unique, and more options with burgers would definitely help this place stand out amongst the endless burger joints in Boise.

Heard about this place via the TV show love where you live. Went there to check it out. The burger I had was very good worth writing home about and a return trip. They have 1 and 2 pound burgers that my son and his wife shared and it looked as good as my normal burger. The fries are cut with skins on and are good, little beer batter and they'd be better. It's worth trying because obviously what you like is different but nothing ventured nothing gained. Drinks are huge could barely finish my root beer.

Waiter was friendly and accommodating. Portions are very large and the price is fair. Novelty/must visit for that experience type of restaurant. They had a special on that Big Jud which was a great deal. $13 for the 1lb Burger, Large Fries, and a drink! 5 stars. Must try!

Best burger in town. Our whole family can split the Big Judd meal deal. 1 lb burger, 2 huge drinks, and a large tot or fry all for 20 bucks! We like to end every meal with their yummy ice cream cones. Great service and clean facilities too. Boise and Meridian Idaho locations, but Boise is the best. I also love that they try to get all of the ingredients locally. Dang now I'm craving one of their burgers just writing this.

The hamburgers here are the best tasting burgers I've had in the United States, but the fries are strangely average. You can miss the fries on a visit, but I would highly recommend you go out of your way to try a burger here if you have not already. I know I'll be coming back soon.

Good healthy sized burgers that have a good proportion of meat to bread which is always appreciated. The fries are thick cut which is usually not my favorite but these ones are especially good for some reason. They have decent shakes that go well as a dessert but are nothing to write home about.

One of my favorite burger joints. We typically order two Big Jud's Specials and that feeds a family of five with left overs. I miss the original buns, but the new buns are okay if they are baked long enough for the crust to be flakey (otherwise they are doughy).

Place was busy had a5minute wait was seated in a clean booth. The servers were friendly took our drink orders right away then returned and took our food order. The wait time on two burgers and one order of tots was a bit long 16minutes. Pleasantly surprised o.k. the food was worth the wait. The only suggestion would be to add music for ambience was a little loud. Music would fill that space. We'll be back.

You gotta get there early, say 11:30AM for lunch if there's more than two of you. The place is small but it gets packed by the noontime. One of the few truly 'local' burger joints, Big Juds has dozens of great burgers, hand-cut fries, and my favorite: crispy & delicious tater tots. Drinks are Pepsi products, but they come in ginormous glasses. There's also an assortment of taste ice cream choices but, after eating burger/tot combo, I doubt you would have room to even consider a scoop. Great place!

This by far is my absolute favorite local hambuger joint here in Boise, Idaho. Their burgers are absolutely delicious and if theres any problem with your burger in most cases they will exchange it out for you no problem. I absolutely love their milkshakes as well, they are very thick and rich tasting, ive had both their cookies n cream shakes, as well as their huckleberry shake, Both absolutely fantastic. If i were to recommend anything, i would highly suggest the Hawaiian Burger, or if you enjoy spicey-ish food. I would also suggest the Hot Buff Burger. If your not into burgers i would also suggest their Fish & Chips Meal.

Yes my photo is on the wall or used to be but the T Shirt I actually had to buy was too small and it was a 1X. A family favorite since living in Boise. Local beef from Double R Ranch like they serve at BSU games and generally other local ingredients. We typically split a Big Jud as it has a nice thick patty and feeds a few. The flavor is real like I remember making them at home when I was a kid. They just opened a new location in meridian off of Eagle rd and overland. Negative comments on here are either used to McDonald's and don't know what a real burger should be or they're just plain crazy, cuz it's yummy. Maybe a good down home burger and real fresh cut fries isn't for everyone, dunno.

Quintessential Boise experience...I'm an Idahoan that moved to New Jersey for 10 and came back. My Philly friend visits us once a year...we take in Bogus, ceramica for the kids, something like a hot springs (Miracle Hot Springs!), but always always Big Jud's...and they never disappoint! I've never done the challenge of eating the one or two pound burger, along with a pound of fries and a huge drink in thirty minutes (photo is the one pounder challenge)...but my Philly friend did, twice, and gave up each time 20 minutes in. The avacado/bacon or bleu-cheese/bacon burgers are very good, and a decent price. The tater-tots are the golden delicious artery cloggers you'd expect...very delicious. The shakes are normally good, but sticks with berry flavors and way away from the birthday cake...diabetes in a cup...horribly horribly sweet.
