Quick bite to eat. Sushi rolls were great. Fast service in which it was appreciated. Server made sure we were well taken care of and offered refills timely. Recommend trying out this restaurant.

Where do I start. Came in hungry like a hippo, and left feeling like a Lion after a huge meal. It was so delicious 🤤. Me and my woman enjoy the food. It was a good amount of people here. The Atmosphere was 7.3/10. The service was 7.5/10. Food was a 8.2/10. I'ma give this restaurant a 7.9/10 today. Great time 👍🏿💯

We love this place. Service is friendly, everything is clean, food is so good! We've only ever done the grill and that fills us up. My husband's advice is to push the food down after each addition to get more in the bowl. I love the udon noodles. Always yummy. Kids love it. A but pricey, but everyone's happy so it's worth it.

Great place, reasonably priced. I love the food if your in to Hibachi. I always get the bowl, this is where they give u an empty bowl and u fill it with fifteenth varieties of veggies and meat of your choice seasonings and oils then they prepare it for u on the grill. It was me and my daughter 30$

It was definitely a unique experience. The restaurant has a lot of space and the deli options are really good with ingredients such as carrots, spinach, beef, chicken, calamari, sauces, spices, and more. The wait time wasn't that bad either.

Wow! The food here was amazing. The stir fry is one of the best I've ever had. They don't skimp on meat and the price is very affordable. Enough food for one serving and some to take home with you. I ordered take out this time and really enjoyed my soup and stir fry. There are other options like Sushi here. Service was great. I will be back next time I'm down near Homewood.

Good rolls and Seared Tuna with Amazing sauce. Maybe use yellow type Ginger pickle for a better taste, and A little more attention to tables' cleaning because it is kinda sticky.

This place is amazing!! I've never been to a place like this before and we loved it. We got the "build your own bowl" and you get to go to the line and choose all your ingredients like subway lol my kids couldn't finish their food for once. We highly recommend this place

At first, we were skeptical about how the bowls would taste since we were guessing which spices and sauce would mix well together, but our bowls turned out delicious! It was fun being able to choose all of the ingredients in the bowl and you can choose as much greens or meats as you’d like (must fit the cup). Service was friendly and I’ll definitely be back!

This place was awesome, you pick your starch, get in line and load up your bowl with whatever you want. Same with the seasoning so if your food is bland it’s your fault. Then hand it off and they cook it up. 1st time here so next time I’m in the area I’ll revisit.

First time here with my baby brother and we didn't know it was a buffet til two days later lol. We grab one bowl and was full lmao. The cheese puff shrimp and eggroll was a great appetizer. Will have to get that full experience next time. The food was yummmmy!!

I love a place where you can get a good bite quickly! No line, no waiting to be seated, plenty of space, and very attentive staff. It's Mongolian BBQ so I'm glad there were plenty of options but also simple instructions on how to get a tasty bowl. I've been left to my own devices at one of these before and either over or under seasoned - this one turned out great. For dinner, one bowl was $12 and endless bowls were $16. One bowl was plenty. Simple and yummy!

Everything was wonderful! The food was delicious, appealing, hot and fresh!! Giving the customer the option to choose what they want their custom bowl to be is a excellent idea! I made a bowl with Dark and White Chicken, onions, carrots, pineapple, broccoli, steak seasoning I believe, fried rice with bourbon sauce and teriyaki sauce! O M G!! 😋🤤😍 I was soooo sleepy and full halfway through!! 😪 I laid down on the seat! Packed up the leftovers and waddled out of the door! 🤣🤣 My daughter and I WILL be back!! 👍🏽

I am staying at the hotel next door to this place and decided to try it out. I WAS NOT DISAPPOINTED. I ordered pickup and EVERYTHING was UHHmazing! Everything tasted fresh and my order was ready for pickup in just 15 mins. I built my own bowl and it was a great price for how much I got. I will definitely eat here again. ** I came back and everything was freaking fabulous once again! YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE IF YOU NEVER HAVE.

First time wow really great food I enjoyed the concept of choosing the vegetables that l enjoy and then onto either fish or meats and then again choosing seasoning and what sauce you want on your lunch. 4.7/5 ⭐️ Yummy Bowl. Create Your Own Bowl. Upon entering the restaurant you are greeted with friendly and attentive staff. The restaurant is huge, with plenty of seating throughout. This is maybe my 100th time coming to this restaurant. I am not too big of a fan of hibachi type cuisine, but Yummy Bowl is not just one of the best hibachi, but one of the best restaurants in this city. If you pass by during lunch or dinner time, you would see how packed it is. For this night, it was packed, and the line was long. I have tried the sushi before and it is good sushi. They also have some good appetizers. Nothing too crazy, but good, well reasoned with the price. The real star of the show is the build your own bowl concept. You are given a little metal bowl and you are free to fill it with what you like. From beef to chicken to shrimp to all types of vegetables, you are in control. Especially with the seasonings and multiple sauce options. You can come here multiple times and change what you add in your bowl and it will be amazing, fresh, and different tasting but in the best way possible. Choose what kind of carb you would like with your protein, from rice to noodles to lo mein and even brown rice. The bowl comes and it is quite a lot of food, with the red bowl being so full you are out of breathe just looking at it. Yummy bowl is one the best restaurants in Birmingham, and it shows every night. It is almost packed whenever we come in and even with the rush, the hard working chefs seem to grill and cook away with pride and kindness when they thank you once you give them your bowl to cook. For the price, and the taste, it is a MUST TRY.

Soooo good! We go here everytime we go to Bham. The grill buffet option..ie choosing your own ingredients is unique. It's always filling and never dissappoints. This place is very consistent with food quality and taste. The price is fair, I didn't find it to be expensive and its a good value for the money.

This place was amazing!!!! We're staying at a hotel right down the street and seen this restaurant coming in. So we checked in, and decided to try it and it did not disappoint!!!! Sooooo good. You can do a buffet style and have a bowl and pick your veggies, meat, spices, and spices. They have a hugeeee choice of veggies and meat. Once you're done, you slide your bowl to the side and then they cook it for you. Then they bring it back to you and you enjoy your creation. The Chinese noodles were sooooo good!!!! You can also order sushi and appetizers as well. Definitely a good choice and definitely a great place for lunch or dinner!!!!

Because we couldn't get any service at Chilis Yummy has gained themselves many new customers. The service was great, helpful fast and attentive. The sushi was so unique but so tasty!!!! The bowls were hot and delicious. The experience is fun, you build your own bowl and they cook it on a large grill while you wait. Will definitely be back!!!

Would be a 5 star review but staff/server could do better job explaining the process for first time diners. Food was excellent, love the idea, left so full. I did the build your own bowl and went with the noodle base. Added a lot of scallops, crab, shrimp, calamari and a little broccoli. Food was delicious, I wish I would have had a little more explanation about how it worked.

Great service and great concept of food style. I love how you can choose what goes into your bowl and you can customize your own flavors. Food comes out fast and they have some of the best sushi in the birmingham area. 10/10 would recommend this place.

Wow, fresh raw poultry, beef and seafood, piled in a bowl and handed to a chef to cook with your choice of seasonings and sauces. Everything was delicious and the calamari was cooked perfectly and super tender. Fantastic experience and i will definitely go back. Thanks.

Often eat here for lunch with co-workers. Very busy place and crowded during lunchtime. They have items on menu to order or If you choose the yum yum bowl and line up to select your protein (meat or seafood) & veggies so they can cook it hibachi style. Even though they are so many people choosing the yum bowl, food does get to you quickly. I would recommend this place.

We love Yummy Bowl! We visit at least once a month, and it's a perfect go to place to meet up with friends in the city. Have not tried the regular menu, as the Mongolian BBQ is so good it's all we ever get.

Service was grade A from everyone but our waiter. It was hard to find him which made us have to seat& extra time to get our tickets&we were not offered refills nor did he explain how everything worked at the restaurant even though I told him this was our 1st time there. Also, when it was finally time for our tickets he kept messing them up & constantly forgot things we asked for like take out boxes, tops,&bags. I constantly had to get other staff help which is honestly the reason I'm still giving them 4 stars the other staff were so helpful from explaining how to get my starch, to getting additional drinks, and down getting a bag for my leftovers. If it weren't for them &the delicious food, I wouldn't go back based upon the poor service we received from our waiter. The restaurant itself is semi buffet style hibachi so you get to pick everything that goes it your bowl down to the seasonings which is really cool& then the is delivered to your table once it's done so remembering your table # is very important.

First time at Yummy Bowl and my experience was pretty good. The ingredients seemed fresh, and the service was quick and efficient. I love the concept. Just wish the fried rice was a bit better of quality.

The food here is really good! I recommend the Build Your own Bowl option for first-timers, as you can add whatever you want into the bowl and essentially create your own dish. I also recommend the Snow Crab Naruto, as it was very delicious.

You get to create your own bowl here and they cook it to order. The food is good and so is the service. My daughter had a kids size bowl and said it was the best food she had in a year. My husband had sushi, and liked it, by will try a bowl next time. We will be back. This is a good fast-casual restaurant.

First timmer! I really enjoyed my experience. The waitress was very helpful in explaining how to order and how to stack plates. I got the Baked Salmon with mounds of crab meat inside. This exceeded my expectation! I chose chicken, shrimp & sausage with fried rice as my starch. The price is VERY reasonable. I will def be back soon.

Not finna lie, this place slaps. They've got a sushi bar and a drinks bar, but that's not the main show, nonono, the headline attraction is that you fill out a card for either rice or noodles, walk down a buffet line and choose your meats, veggies, seasonings, and sauce and they cook it right there on the spot. My recent lunch here was absolutely amazing. Rich flavor, solid service. An instant favorite.

Yep......this spot is a great alternative to standard Asian fare in the area. Design your own bowls with choice of protein, vegetables, sauces and spices. Food is delivered to the table hot and flavorful. I did not try the sushi but I did see the preparation area and it looked good. Televisions are here and there is a bar area.

Build your own hibachi / stir fry bowl! Yummy bowl was actually yummy and lived up to its name. The food quality was good, and there are lots of choices for what you can put in your bowl. Good amount of food for the money. This is the Chipotle of hibachi.

And went asked a question her response was "I will when I get time" Customer service isn't her strong suit. If this is your first time here. It can definitely be a little overwhelming at first since it's not your traditional place you're use to eating at. I have to say this is probably one of my favorite places to eat in Birmingham. The atmosphere is great and the choice of picking everything out is my favorite. So much to choose from. I haven't been here for lunch, but the dinner experience was great. It took maybe 10 minutes for my food to arrive even when busy which is really good. The food is definitely plentiful if you make it right and well worth the ticket at the end. 5 out of 5 stars.

Really enjoy the creativity of Mongolian BBQ. Yummy Bowl offers a lot of options too, including separate light and dark meat chicken as well as some less common seafood choices like scallops and mussels. There's a good selection of sauces and seasonings too. Table service was a little underwhelming, but it was a full parking lot and I feel like they might have been understaffed. One last thing, the sushi platters I saw on the table across from us were beautiful!

I highly recommend Yummy Bowl. I’ve never had a single complaint. Everything is neat and clean, the ingredients are fresh, and the service is kind, fast, and attentive even when busy. I know the pressure on the cooks must be insane, but everything is always consistent and cooked amazingly. Particularly I’ve noticed the rice is always perfectly cooked, unlike some other places that might sometimes have gooey white rice or undercooked brown rice. All the cooking is always on point. I’ve also ordered delivery via doordash and it’s just as good. They very attentively noted notes I had added about seasoning and adding green onions. Everything was packaged with care and the food was still hot.

Love the concept of the bowls to order, and it was delicious. The sushi roll I tried was good, too. Didn't care for the miso soup, but we were all impressed by the food. Gratuity was added automatically, but that may have been because we were a party of six.

Tried Yummy Bowl for the first time today and do not regret it. I can't say anything about the sushi they offer(makes up most of the menu) but the build your own bowl was amazing. Definitely one of those dinning experiences where you'll be sitting there full, eyeing your plate and lying to yourself "I can handle one more bite". Just a tip for other first timers on the build a bowl. Seasoning and sauce go in the little plastic cups. Both me and my fiance spaced the signs they have all over the bar telling you this. The signs were literally right in our face too. 15/10 will be dinning there again.

Great Mongolian BBQ but they've changed the rules. You used to be able to go back and get a second plate but now you have to pay for your second time through the line. A little disappointed but I guess us larger folks were costing them too much money, LOL

Great experience! You are given a small bowl to add your meats, vegetables, sauces, and spices. You pick a carb that goes with it. It does not look to be much food, but once cooked, it will fill you up. The yum yum sauce is a good complement to the food. The sushi there is mediocre, but the bowls are definitely the way to go.

First time here and both my wife and I were impressed. The food was excellent. The only downside was the lady in front of us who took FOREVER to load up three bowls on her tray (she had two kids with her). The food items were falling all over the place because she had tried stacking as much as possible in each bowl. They were mounded up at least three inches above the rim. And then she had to get a spoon of every seasoning and several cups of different sauces. Someone needs to learn to be considerate of the line of diners behind them. Just glad we were there early when it wasn't too crowded. This isn't a reflection on the restaurant but of the clientele.

Nice place. But didn't like the fact that they already added the highest gratuity they had to the ticket. When nobody even filled up my tea glass. I feel it's up to the customer not the business as to how much tip they receive according how they do their jobs. The food was excellent though.

FIRST EVER restaurant to mess up my order, then call and ask if I wanted to come get it or a credit. Everyone else who messes up an order (everyone does eventually) usually just says “oh well”. Food is pretty decent for the price as well.

Love the Mongolian stir-fry concept. Fresh ingredients to build my own bowl. They have clear instructions posted on the walls on how to build one. And the staff brings it to you once they cook it. Also, they have decent sushi options. Great place!

Yummy Bowl has been a favorite of mine and my family for a while. I always go for making my own bowl and pick out the things that I'm in the mood for! Sometimes it's just fresh veggies and rice, sometimes it's meats and noodles. Whatever you pick, you'll be full and happy. The staff are always awesome and the big grill is just cool to watch!

We had the chicken noodles to go. The food was flavorful, had fried egg in it and the vegetables in it were cooked to soften them (unlike other similar restaurants). The wait time was decent too. The inside wearing area was decorated nicely. We wish we had the time to dine in.

I love a great Asian Market Bowl. If you enjoy making your own "Asian" dish, you'll enjoy this place. You have so many combinations, you'll never perfectly match the recipe twice. They also have a sushi bar if that is what you prefer. I personally don't like sushi so I make no claims on that part. Give it a try!!!

Only thing I didn't like was the sign at the ingredients bar that said $5 upcharge for everything in the bowl above 2 inches. Db"s says whatever you can get in the bowl is ok. But to be fair I haven't been there in about a year maybe they changed which would be disappointing.

This was our first time at Yummy Bowl, but it won't be the last! Wen was our server, and walked us through the process...Pick your rice/noodles, meat, vegetables and sauces, and then they cook it fresh. While they were cooking, we enjoyed the veggie tempura appetizer (they also have a variety of sushi rolls). The meals were great, and Wen came by periodically to check on us. Pricing was reasonable, averaging less than $20 per person all-in.

I'm taking off one star because 50% of my visits there have been met with suboptimal service. Staff with their headphones on, staff not attentive to customers needs. I Love it. Service and food was great. My husband and I have been twice. Spent about $47 for two bowls , 2 drinks and sushi. The way it's set-up is that the server will sit you, get your drink & or sushi (delicious) order, bring you a bowl and card, and you go to the food bar. The card is to pick your choice of noodles or rice and let the cooks know if you have any food allergies. Next you go to the food bar where everything is uncooked and you pick from -different veggies, -meat(chicken, beef, pork, sausage, bacon) -seafood(shrimp, scallops, crab, calamari) -white eggs. Then you choose from 6 different seasoning (two tiny spoons will do) and several sauces. Lastly you give your bowl & card to the cooks. You can either watch them cook it or go back to the table and wait until the server bring you your food to Enjoy.

As far as Mongolian bbq is concerned this place is great. Very clan restaurant! Nice atmosphere and food is pretty good. Reason I gave 4 ☆'s instead of 5 is, I've traveled to many parts of our country & have tasted many types of M.BBQ over the years. This one doesn't have as many variey of sauces to choose from & also they ask you to put sauces on side instead of being able to apply them over your food & they give you a small plastic cup to put it in & it will only fit a small amount of sauce. Not too big of a deal over all. Just different than what I'm accustomed to & have come to appreciate. Other than that, great place. Will definitely go back!!

I was inhibited to go to this venue, based on the outside. Great thing my son insisted. It is a hidden and undervalued sushi & Mongolian grill gem right off the interstate! We let the waitress now it was our first time dining there and she didn't allow the language barrier to dim our experience! You can get a "bowl" and choose your own proteins, veggies, sauces AND seasonings etc. from the vast choices then the guys at the HUGE flat top grill prepare it for you. Nothing short of cook-to-order with EXACTLY what you'd want in your "stir-fry"! Everything was delicious and quick, and I heard concurrent thoughts regarding the sushi from my dining party! There were SEVERAL students there making 'to-go bowls' packed to the seam, so this also serves as a great COVID-19 restaurant dine-at-home meal. I will certainly visit again when I return to Hoover/Birmingham!

Went there with family on March 03, 2021 Wednesday. Food was great as usual but they ignored COVID health official guidelines — “ Change restaurant and bar layouts to ensure that all customer parties remain at least 6 feet apart (e.g., marking tables/stools that are not for use).” There were 5 tables booked side by side, next to each other without social distances of 6’ including ours. That’s what surprise me for the first time. That’s the reason I have chosen to give them less ⭐️.

My first few visits were for the 'Mongolian BBQ' in which you fix up all the raw ingredients in your bowl (meat, veggies, fruit even and your seasoning and/or sauce). It's grilled and cooked up for you and put on top of your choice of starch (rice, noodles, etc). It was excellent. My last few visits have been on my lunch break and I've been craving sushi. I haven't tried a roll yet that I haven't liked. And on the lunch special, you can get 2 rolls and a soup or salad for 8.95. Not bad. The place is huge (in the old OCharley's), very clean and the staff is nice and helpful.

(Which she didnt fill out) someone else had to fill it out and rhey didnt know where i was sitting. We had to walk over there. But the food was good i put seasonings and spices on meat which another person explained i had to put in little cups not on meat because it burns when cooking, im not a chef i didnt know! But overall the food is great too many combo and options. But all turned out im not letting that waitress attend me next time and im not letting her ruin my enjoyment of there food im giving them a second chance because i saw very much potential in this place being a weekly thing for me.

Yummy Bowl is the Mongolian barbecue that I have been waiting for a long time here in the Birmingham area. This is how Mongolian barbecue should be. Lots of meat, fresh vegetables, seaonings, and sauces to chose from. Chefs stand around a large round grill cooking up your bowl with your choices. They also have beer, wine and sake. Mongolian styled Asian bowls w/ every fresh veggies , eggs and a variety of fresh meats from white/farm meat chicken to white fish and sausage! Udon noodle and steamed rice if you so choose. We chose our selections picked high in our bowls and waited.. we also order sushi!! Yummo!! The eel and spicey crawfish were voth on point!! Yep they def got.our vote and we'll be back!!
