This was absolutely delicious Thai food. I had the panang curry with tofu and it was thick and flavorful with just enough spice and my husband really enjoyed the chicken pad Thai. We ordered for pick up and the pick up was a bit odd due to what I assume are renovations of their dining area but it was quick and courteous. This food is so good! We also had the Holland Roll and it was very good too.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND this Thai location. Their prices are reasonable based on the portions as well as the flavors you will get with each dish. My husband loves this spot and we e been her 3 times in 2 weeks. So I believe this will be our new Thai restaurant from here on out 😁

Tried a variety of dishes, all the dishes were delicious. Tofu and coconut soup was hearty. War Eagle sushi was finger licking good. Roti chanai was interesting. Chicken fried rice was tasty and filling, huge plate. The chicken larb was decent, little bit of seasoning would take it to next level. Finally the spicy tom yum noodle bowl was so rich and flavorful. Plenty of parking space, clean restroom, friendly servers, will definitely visit again to try out other dishes.

This place truly hits the spot. Went back for Girl's night and the service was great. The food was DELICIOUS. The portion size was ample and we had plenty leftover. Hands down the best Thai food in town. Highly recommended.

Service impeccable!! 🤩 Very clean This place is poppin’! Great experience from parking to leaving! Sushi view right when you walk in.Smiling, friendly faces… professional & personable. Met Ms. Bonnie again for lunch…. She always pics the best places! So, I was in a rush and ordered basic of the lunch selections… for me that’s the Hibachi Salmon 🍣 . It was served with the sesame soy sauce, some other really yummy sauce on the side, and fresh vegetables including mushrooms 🍄 carrots 🥕 zucchini onions 🧅 and broccoli 🥦 They were all fresh and chopped to bite size…. I really LOVE that part!! 😍 I chose fried rice (optional white rice), this is the very best basic side fried rice I’ve had since I’ve been here. For starters I chose ginger salad (optional coconut tofu soup) It was just some iceberg lettuce and shredded carrots with this creamy ginger dressing. So refreshing and light! I wanted more of this salad! That’s a BIG LUNCH! generous portions on the entree and less than $12. For salmon that’s great! Ms. Bonnie selected from the lunch menu and choose the duck, white rice, and the coconut tofu soup. Y’all gotta try that soup too! I’d never tried it before and it was really yummy… I’m going to get that next time and there will definitely be a next time! I’d never had duck from a Thai restaurant before but it was great! Like a dark meat chicken in this reddish orange sauce with a little tiny kick of spice to it. Fantastic! Deanra the waitress was very attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and friendly the entire time! Other servers helped to make sure we had plenty of water and bussed the table without interrupting our conversation. Idk about y’all but as a previous server myself, that’s a major pet peeve for me.

Service was excellent, our server made sure our table was well the entire meal. Their thai ice teas were mixed deliciously too. The fried rice is made differently than other thai places. I think it has more small veggies mixed in with the rice however it is not as flavorful as we expected it to be. Other items on the menu was good but the fried rice could be better.

Cahaba River Road Sunday , November 7, 2021 Greeted by Friendly Staff Establishment Clean / Customers NOT Required to Wear Face Masks No Line but had a 5 minute wait at this time. There's outdoor seating but we chose to eat inside today. This is our first visit to this restaurant and we weren't disappointed. The establishment is on the small side as far as seating goes but definitely worth the wait. Arrived/Checked In: 1:30pm Seated: 1:35pm Placed Drink Order: 1:36pm Received Drinks: 1:37pm Placed Appetizer Order: 1:40pm Received Appetizer: 1:44pm Placed Entrée Order: 1:40pm Received Entrée Order: 1:50pm Our server, Wayan, was friendly, helpful & knowledgeable about food being offered. Our appetizer was (6) Pot Stickers with Panang Curry ($8.95). Delicate vegetables, crunchy onions, and pork dumplings served with a drizzle of a curry type sauce. Delicious. We also ordered (2) Bao Buns ($9). Delicious buns loaded with tender pork belly and marinated cucumber served with an Asian hot sauce. Will definitely be ordering it again. Husband ordered the the Masaman Chicken Curry extra hot ($10.50) and he was pleasantly surprised that it came extra hot - usually it's never spicy enough for him. Tender sliced chicken and crunchy carrots in a creamy Masaman sauce topped with cashews and sliced avocado with a side of rice. Yum. This Lunch Special also came with a small cup of Coconut Soup of tofu pieces, sliced mushrooms, and scallions in a rich coconut broth with just the slightest hint of spicy heat. I ordered the Masaman Chicken Curry ($10.50) also but mine was mild. Every bite was amazing. I highly recommend this dish. Food arrived hot & delicious and drinks kept filled. This restaurant is definitely going on our return to eat again list.

Loved our first visit to Nori. Wish I'd come sooner! The coconut soup is top notch. So good. The staff were attentive and super friendly. Docking one star because their spicy noodles, while delicious, weren't at all spicy, and the prices seem a bit high. Otherwise a wonderful experience and I appreciate all the vegetarian options. We'll be back.

Excellent food and great service. Today was my first visit to Nori Thai and had a great time. My favorite was Crispy Rock Chicken, Panang Chicken and Pad Thai. Also if you are a Sushi lover, you should give this place a try.

As a Thai person, thought the food was okay. Been here twice and didn’t feel the authenticity. Got the panang chicken which gets a B+ and coconut soup gets an A. Might have to try the sushi next

Food is tasty, good serving as well, but I would prefer smaller portion and cheaper then, so that you can order many dishes like you usually do in Thailand, and share them. Dumpling could be served in a bambou bowl to keep them longer warm. Lab kai is good, soups are yummy too. Went there for Thai food, so didn't try all the japanese style dishes. Recommend this place, but would be nice if they propose a discovery menu where you can have or choose many small dishes.

All fans of Thai food likely adore Surin of Thailand restaurants in Crestline Mountain Brook and the Five Points South neighborhood of Birmingham. Many like me have been disappointed when Surin in Mountain Brook shut down temporarily for renovations. Even though it is only a temporary shutdown, it seems like forever. Surin West in Five Points South has equally delightful cuisine, however however parking in Five Points is quite a challenge. There is another Thai restaurant that is a little smaller than either of the Surin restaurants but very competitive regarding the food and service. This saving Thai Angel is Nori Thai and Sushi on 4704 Cahaba River Road in Altadena Square. Once the renovations of Surin in Mountain Brook are finished, all Thai food patrons will have a chance of fast and friendly service with a choice of three locations for classic Thai dishes like Pad Thai.

Absolutely one our favorite places in Birmingham. My husband lived in Japan for 2 years and says their potstickers remind him of his time abroad. The sushi is out of this world. I suggest the volcano roll to just about everyone. Their dishes are to die for, especially the Panaang Chicken! It's a little hot but definitely delicious. We are on first name basis with the owner at this point because we come in so much. Service is usually very fast and they are quick to make any hiccup worth your while if you're nice/patient with them. We are moving to Alaska and are going to miss this little local shop so so much!!!!

The sushi at Nori is very very good. The menu is the biggest menu you'll ever see, it's like a full edition of the New York Times. The rolls are innovative and surprising and the flavors and presentation are really way up there in quality. Very highly recommended. Also: get the tempura cheesecake because it's tempura cheesecake and it's required.

Fantastic food. I had pad thai which was up there with the best I've had, and the super crunch sushi roll which was also delicious. Portion size was fairly generous, the pad thai in particular could be shared. It's a small restaurant and not much to look at if you're honest, but the service was prompt, and it gets 5* from me purely based on the excellent food.

Very small inside but food was delicious. The service was great too. I ordered goyza and the combination fried rice. They brought out a spice tray too. The only thing different about this fried rice was that it was red looking. I was skeptical at first but the dish was amazing.

Service was excellent, we had three people making sure our glasses stayed full and we were happy with the food. My friend ordered the sushi and said it was excellent, I had spring rolls that were really good as well. Both of our entrees were a little sweeter than we were used to, our normal Thai place leans towards spicy, which I prefer, but overall a good experience.

This place was incredible! If you have any doubts about trying this place, forget them. I'm a huge fan of sushi and could not believe how delicious and fresh the rolls were at Nori. The service was amazing and everyone was incredibly friendly and willing to help. The chef came out and recognized how much we were enjoying this place and made us a speciality roll on the house! Needless to say, it's a must-try and it's a shame it took me so long to find this place.

I'm from Atlanta and had been searching for a great sushi lunch spot here in Birmingham. Nori definitely surpassed my expectations. The service was incredible and very interactive with helping you decide on a suitable order for your preferences. The sushi was fresh, creative and had flavors that complemented each other very well. I noticed this spot hasn't gained a ton of recognition when I had asked some locals about it. Many have never tried and it's a shame because this place in my opinion is better than Jinsei and Okinawa. Tip: Ask for the expanded sushi menu* Favorite: Ahi Roll

What a great surprise! I have not had Thai food like this in several years and I have tried many different restaurants in Birmingham. It was a Friday night so we had to wait about 15 minutes for a table but the service was quick and friendly. Coconut soup was amazing and the pad Thai was so good! They surprised my granddaughter with a yummy ice cream dessert too. We will DEFINITELY go back soon!

Service was quick, and I loved my sushi and wontons! I think I had the Alaska roll. Definitely will visit again. Only complaint is that the sushi roll was significantly smaller than what I usually expect -- only eight slices with a smaller circumference (most restaurants serve ten, bigger slices). It's a funky, modern, clean place with a hole in the wall vibe. I liked it!

Delicious and different Asian spot in town. We love the Chicken or Tofu Coconut Soup. Spicy and warming, good for a rainy day or for healing up. The Tonkotsu Ramen is pretty good for Birmingham, but that isn't saying much. 😆 I really enjoy the Ants Nest Caramel Cake a la Mode. Unique and fun, kinda like a pudding cake with ice cream.

Bobby was our server and he was so attentive, kind, and upbeat. He made our experience wonderful and the food was incredible!!!!!! Great food! We ordered it take out on our way through town. My wife and I both loved the food. We are definitely swinging by there again next time in Birmingham. I can't speak much about the decor or facilities as I didn't really go in except to pick up the order, but it was in a shopping center (another surprise that something this good was in a shopping center!) and it seemed quaint. Don't let the looks fool you...this place is a must go if you are craving Thai or Sushi!

Wife and I go there at least once a week. The service and staff are such that high end restaurants should come and watch how food service should be done. With that being said, never been disappointed with anything I’ve ordered. If you happen to order something that you don’t like, they will make something else for you. Wow!!! If your looking for good sushi or Thai food, then try this place. Must stop destination for out of town visitors that are looking for this type of food.

I chose this location based off of the reviews. Although I am rating this restaurant lower than most, I am not disappointed that this place was chosen. The sushi was a decent size and filling. I was stuffed off of two rolls. However, I did feel that the flavor could have been a little better. SERVICE: The staff are nice and attentive. The service was quick and I was given everything I needed. ATMOSPHERE: Small and quaint. Comfortable. Family oriented. I came with a large group and although the restaurant is small, the staff were very nice and accommodated us after a short wait. We all ordered different noodle dishes, sushi, and appetizers. There were no complaints from anyone about flavor or quality! I personally had the salmon roll, basil rolls, and pad thai. All were fresh and tasted great. The spicy coconut soup was also awesome.

This place seriously surprised me. Very good food that was served within 10 minutes of making the order and they get a 10 out of 10 for service. The waiter was beyond great! The reviews were so good we were suspicious. Then we experienced it. Amazing! We are from New Jersey and a little bit snobby about Thai food, we have so many great choices in New Jersey. Who would’ve thought that in Birmingham Alabama there would be a wonderful Thai restaurant. The food was superb the wait staff amazing, we had Putu and He couldn’t have been more attentive or personable. We had Masaman chicken and Gado Gado salad, Saki and desert. All wonderful. Nori is our favorite neighborhood sushi place!They have the best coconut soup with jumbo clean shrimp! We love their California roll with apple. Spicy tuna and smoked salmon are great! Super Crunch & Crunch Crunch Rolls are my husband favorites. The place is clean and cozy despite its location in a strip mall. The staff is always smiling & very welcoming.

my spring roll wrapper was cooked on the outside but mushy and only partially cooked inside. My larb was without spice and the cabbage toake wraps was cut too small to be effective. The spicy beef salad was good. Note that as far as I have found this is the only place still offering larb with a wedge of cabbage to make your own wraps. That is why I went there.

This is my go to Thai restaurant. I absolutely love this place. All of the employees have excellent attitudes, always super positive, curteous, well mannered, and prompt. The atmosphere is great, music is too. I have never had a problem with the food, the make it right every single time. The owner is usually there every time we go, and he always says hi, remembers our faces which is really cool. We usually go on lunch break, so we call ahead and they have our meal ready for us by the time we get there. The food and service at this place is absolutely amazing!

Having eaten at Nori’s several times now, each experience has been outstanding! My Pad Thai includes shrimp and chicken and is seasoned to perfection. There is enough leftovers for 2 lunches that are also delicious warmed up in my microwave throughout the following days. Their service is terrific! Pretty good. I would have given a 5, but there was two obnoxious kids who ruined the experience. I know you really can't say nothing about things like that no more. The food and service was great and the people there are really friendly with a good sense of humor. A unisex restroom, which is super clean.

Found this cozy restaurant when kids said they wanted sushi...and I didn't. Service was quick and constant, portions were a little larger than normal (sushi rolls were 8 pieces, instead of the normal 6 but still a good size). Thai food was tasty - spice level was just right, but kitchen accommodated requests for more or less heat. Definitely a place to revisit!

I went to Nori for the first time tonight. I had just got back from ATL and needed something quick for dinner to take home. I got to Nori 10 minutes before they closed and they were super cool about it even though they were closing. After I placed my order, I started conversing with the guy at the counter about sushi and Thai places in Birmingham. I told him I love chicken tempura rolls but I haven’t found a place here that makes it. When I was leaving, he said they specially made the roll for me (no charge) and that I could ask for it anytime even though it’s not on the menu. THIS WAS EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE!! I finally found my new sushi/Thai restaurant in Birmingham and will MOST DEFINITELY be back. The food was amazing as well!! I’ve never written a google review, but I had to after my amazing experience here. Thanks Nori!!

I had had Thai food in Black Mountain- spicy catfish. Every 2 seconds, my son asked me if I was alright. Tears were streaming down my face. Today was different. Everything was very good, and not too spicy! Dad and I both had pad thai, his with salad- he said the dressing was delicious and mine with yummy coconut soup. My spouse, who doesn't like any spice got vegetable pad see ew. She loved it! We will definitely add this place to the rotation!

Great food and great service! The people there are inviting and will help if you can't decide on what to get. On top of that the ambiance inside is amazing. Nice place to unwind and have a nice authentic tasting meal. Their Drunkard noodles and fried rice dish with chili are my favorites.

Not only was the food fantastic (I had the basil rolls, tom yum soup, and a tuna roll, all of which was fresh and delicious), but the staff was amazing. The sushi chef took time from what he was doing to take my order because their host was busy taking orders over the phone. They prepared my order promptly even though they were very busy. But the best part was when I came back in after I realized I’d forgotten to order a side of white rice. There was no way they could have known that it was for my sick daughter, but even without knowing that they gave me a side of rice (and a large one at that) on the house. This will definitely be my go to place for Thai and sushi, and I will recommend them to everyone. It’s a rare thing to find quality, affordability, and genuinely good people all in one business. This place hits all three.

I've been here several times since it opened, and every time the food has been great (between me and my friends we've had a decent selection of the Thai food and the sushi, and everyone has liked everything). My family is Thai, and they did not like the taste of the food very much (the owners are from Bali, so the food isn't traditional tasting, it's more designed towards an American palatte. I can see people unfamiliar with traditional Thai food liking it though). BUT the waitresses were EXTREMELY friendly, helpful, and kind. Nice casual atmosphere, so-so American style Thai, and great service.

This is probably the best Thai restaurant in town. Both the food and the customer service are fantastic. I had the spicy coconut soup with tofu and a tuna mango salad. The salad was a bed of shredded lettuce, topped with seaweed salad, covered with slices of mango, green apple, and tuna sashimi. All the ingredients were fresh, and it was so delicious. My partner had the Nam Tok Beef. The meat was tender and very flavorful. The mango sticky rice was the best I've ever had. We will definitely be back!

Nori is the best Thai in Birmingham by far. I recently moved from Atlanta and was desperately trying to find authentic Thai food. Surin was the only thing I could find and it was overpriced for terrible service and small portions. Nori staff are genuine and care about the food you get. After a rough day there is nothing better than Thai hot chicken masaman. Ditch Surin and go to Nori, I promise you won’t regret it.

Excellent South East Asian and Sushi. Their chef is trained in several South East Asian styles and he is truly excellent. We were visiting from California and have lived in SE Asia many years. Nori is a world class restaurant. Better than Nobu in California. Just try the jalapeno yellowtail roll. It's perfect. Indonesian food is available but only Gado Gado on the menu.
