Oh man I couldn’t wait to review this place. We were driving through and saw they had 4.5 stars so we decided to try it. So worth it! Anytime we drive through we will stop here! The food is spot on! I had the oxtail with rice and greens and corn bread. Not everyone knows how to make oxtail right well they do so tender and flavored perfect! My husband has the neck bones cabbage corn and cornbread. His necks were also tender and flavored perfect, the corn was made like mama always made and the cabbage was perfect! All of food was so good! The only hard thing is going to be continuing to drive on this road trip with that food in our bellies, we are ready for a nap now! Thank you for doing it right! Oh and the staff working there was so friendly, you felt like you have known them forever!

Its been 5 years since I've had access to their delicious options due to me moving out of state. The other week, I came down n made it my mission to enjoy their food. To sum it up, nothing has changed. From the sweet tea\lemonade mix, to the multiple plates we purchased, everything was on point! Best meal I've had from ANY restaurant in 5 years! Thank you Eagles for your consistency. There's not one high end, 5 star restaurant that can touch your recipes and that's what you'll always be my fav!

I've heard great things about this place and tried to check them out last year but decided not to because the line was literally down the block. This time I ordered on-line and that went well. They have a separate line for online orders, so I only waited about 10 min for my order. I don't think they fix the plates before you arrive, so ordering online just allows you to skip ahead. I had 2 chicken & dressing plates and a fried porkchop plate. My sides were fried corn, au gratin potatoes, black eye peas, mac & cheese, and collard greens. The chicken, corn, potatoes, and peas were pretty good. The other food - not so good. The dressing was so loaded with sage and seasonings we couldn't eat it. The mac was dry and this really weird super bright shade of orange. The collards greens had no flavor and the porkchops were tough and over seasoned. I had hoped this would be my new go-to place for soul food. Not sure if I will return and give the other menu items a try. :-(

Went on rainy Thursday late morning. Friendly staff.Ordered 2 meals online.Only two people standing ahead of me. Picked up my food and stuck it in my car to eat it at home. The down home aroma of the food almost made me pull over on the side of the road. I only had to travel 3 miles. Arrived at home rushed in the house and washed my hands and said the grace. Dug a fork into my vegetable plate of delicious butterbeans, delicious collard greens and candied yum I mean yams. Bit into the yummy cornbread and sopped the butterbean gravy! The food was so tasty ate it all up before getting a picture with my cellphone. This is some great soul food! My husband ate up his hughmongous tasty oxtails, smack your leg mac and cheese and delicious collard greens! This is that first time we ate more than we talked! We will definitely return to this soul food greatness!

This place is THE ABSOLUTE BEST SOUL FOOD RESTAURANT I'VE EVER EATEN AT!!! When I tell you these people can cook, THESE PEOPLE CAN COOK! Ok, now I rated 3 stars only because of the convenience, the hours, the prices but most of all THE HORRIFIC let me repeat that THE HORRIFIC LINE AND WAIT TIME, it's AWFUL. I wish they stayed open late for dinner, expanded and made it more convenient for their customers as far as wait times. I've been by there several times to beat and had to keep going because of the line, me and lots more people. They seem like they make good in there, but imagine how much better they'll do if they just remodeled their building and catered to their customers time. If the owner reads this, PLEASE consider expanding so we don't have to wait outside in a horrific long line and wait a long time to eat this delicious food, PLEASE.

Why doesn't this restaurant have a larger space? The food they put out is absolutely amazing!!!. I went on a Tuesday because that's the day they serve country fried steak. I consider myself a connoisseur of country fried steak. While in line, everyone was ordering oxtails or chicken wings. I was thinking I may be making a mistake. I didn't!! It was the best I have ever had! It's a brown gravy and I have come to prefer the white gravy, over time, but my goodness, this is drinking gravy! The sides were so flavorful. I'd give almost anything to buy a cookbook from this place.

Ate here today and the food was good. It give you the comfort of soul food with reasonable prices. I woild consider this a meat-eater and vegan friendly place. All dishes comes with 2 pieces of corn bread with two sides. All the main food was good but when I wanted the lemonade and a sweet potato pie it was sold out and it was only 1 pm. That is why I am giving this place a 4 instead of a 5 stars. But overall a good place for food.

Eagle's restaurant is such a great and old school place to hang out with friends and family and eat. Plus if you and your people want more entertainment they have two arcade game machines that will surely put you back in the good old days. The staff is calm and cool. The food is the best. They always make sure you get your money worth. Plus the food is so soulful if you know what I mean.

One of the best places I have been. The have a southern soulful taste without cooking the vegetables with pork! So it makes my choices expansive unlike Nikki’s West and Fife’ who has great fish. So Eagle’s 🦅 my spot! Try going during the week great place to pick your dinner up to.

Let's make this short and sweet: it's a hole-in-the-wall that sells great soul food. If you're looking for a classy setup, this is not your spot. However, if you want delicious food at a reasonable price, from a restaurant that's been in business since the 1950's, check this place out. They serve your traditional soul food choices- ox tails, fried/baked chicken, meatloaf, chitterlings, Mac and cheese, greens, fried corn, peach cobbler, Kool-Aid and more. You may want to check their website because not all selections are available everyday. On Sundays there's always a crowd, but the line moves fairly quick. The staff is very friendly, which is always a plus. -1 star because the Mac and cheese isn't right. That's a deal breaker for me.

Its extremely small for the amount of business they do and there is a wait, but most definitely worth it. The ox-tails were delicious and all the sides were home made. We certainly enjoyed the food and definitely will be coming back.

Get there before noon on sunday, if you want to spend less than an hour waiting getting served. The food is real home cooking, no matter what you get the food taste great. Weekdays are better not such a long line, some of the best home cooking around.

This was my first time eating at eagles , and I've lived in Bama my whole life, I ordered the pork chops, greens , and sweet potatoes, I thought all my food would be out of I can, but nope all fresh , no can Greens, no canned or frozen sweet potatoes and the cornbread is Not jiffy, I never eat all my food and my plate is empty also I had a piece of my sons ox tail and it was awesome, I have a long drive from trussville to north side but I will be back to try Everything....

Service and food are first rate. The Birmingham location at UPTOWN is the perfect place for a business meeting or a solo dinner. The meat is perfect and the sides are great. They also serve some of the best ice cream I've ever tasted.

Eagle's is a completely unpretentious, high-value soul food restaurant in a modest, shotgun-configured building a little ways out of downtown, just beneath the ACIP pipe factory. On a Sunday morning visit, just ahead of the after-church crowd, we lined up at the counter to order chicken, an amazing fried pork chop, and great black-eye peas, with remarkable mac and cheese, the required sweet tea, and cornbread--in all, about $9-10 per person, and a LOT of food for the money.

Best Hidden Gem in Birmingham Area to eat . I will eat lunch there at least twice a week. Soul food at its best . My favorite is Beef Tips and Rice and Mac and cheese with some greens served on Mon Wed Fri . Meatloaf is #2 . Great friendly service .

This place was a delicious find for soul food! People starting lining up before 10 am Eagle's open at 1030am. I got fried corn, yams, oxtails mac/cheese & cornbread muffins..Yes I know thats alot, lol. But honey chile it was ALL good! Its a small place is the reason I gave a 4 ☆ I had to eat in car because it was packed! Otherwise their food which was reason for my visit wss on point!

I really wanted to give this place 5 stars but my taste buds wouldn't let me. The food was just ok to me, nothing to rave about or come back for. Service was ok, not outstanding but ok. My highlight of the meal was the tea/lemonade combo. Just like grandma's? Only if your grandmother couldn't cook. I will pass, definitely not a repeat.

So I looked this restaurant up online and saw a few good reviews and decided to try it out when we got there it was packed super long line and I don't know about you but that is a good thing in the restaurant world because if it was deserted that's typically not a good sign so we stood in line for 35-45 minutes and it was worth every minute we waited I would just say get there early so you can ensure you get what you came for because folks is greedy... "including me" LOL That's my new spot when I'm in the B'ham area...
