Great place to eat here in Billings. Usually busy at lunch but always worth the wait. Staff is always friendly and probably has one of the best radio ads as the poems are great.

Service was friendly and helpful and it was very nice and tidy. It was my first time so I had to figure out what I want and I remember seeing commercials and was curious as what was in store. I choose The Nuke, it was decent I think it would have been better servided warm, but it didn't dawn on me until after I finished it.. 🤦🏾‍♀️. I spoke with one of the cashier/servers and asked if having it warmed was an option, short answer yes. I also inquired as to whether or not they were customizable another yes. Armed with my new information I'll be able to make an informed selection... 🙂

Some of their sandwiches have funky ingredients but I mean the bread is funky but it's so delicious, best sandwich place , I take all my out of state friends here so they can awe at the tube-ish Cup-like sandwiches 🥪.

This place is amazing! The customer service is impeccable. The employees definitely take pride in their jobs. I never once seen them just standing around. They were stocking the coolers and checking on customers. They are patient especially when it comes to first time orders. I am one who can't make my mind up when I go somewhere new. So, I just got a BLT with extra bacon. The BLT is my go to when I can't decide what to order. The bread is a little dry (they middle is removed); I did get some of their ranch to help moisten it up. On a side note, I do not digest bread well, it always gets stuck. I did by some of the middles for only $3. They come with a sauce of your choice. I tried the Camel Spit and that was delicious, a cucumber/dill sauce. I will be returning with my family the next time I go up to Billings.

It was incredible. My best friend took me for lunch and let me tell you they did not disappoint. I had the veggie minus the tomato. I was worried because the ranch was watery but some how it really works with these sandwiches! I'll definitely be back with everyone being so friendly and genuine happy. Plus great food who could ask for more.

When they ask if you want sauce on the side, say yes! Plenty long menu for sandwiches and the like. Went there for the first time, and ordered the Texas brisket - which was alright. Not spicy, and didn't have much tang, but it was fine. Pretty dry though, and I didn't realize it came in their bread-tube specialty sandwich thing. I needed a few instructions, which the server was happy to help out with!

First time passing through the area and stopped to give this cute, quirky little sandwich shop a try and it did not disappoint. The sandwiches are served in bread cylinders that are delicious. Definitely something for everyone on the menu here. My only lament was my hot veggie sandwich was a bit sparce on the veggies and was more like a fancy grilled cheese. It was still delicious just wish there was more of it! Even the kiddo was pleased with their pizza wheel which is essentially a small deep dish pizza. Worth a stop if you are a lover of America's most flexible food type.

Clubfoot for the win. If you haven't been here yet, stop debating and just go get one. Yes the bread shape is unique, but it's also delicious and all the toppings are fresh. The sauces are also fun and very good. 5 stars for taste and freshness alone. Extra credit for the creativity.

I got the Hot Club and I really enjoyed it. I love spicy food and with the addition of the white lightening sauce, I was extremely pleased. It was just spicy enough to feel the heat, but not destroy my taste buds before work. :P I always love coming here because the staff is very friendly, many times you will see the owner running around having fun serving locals as well, and the food is always on point!!! It's a pretty great price for an extremely unique and fresh meal. This would be great for any time of the day, but their promptness is very nice when on a quick lunch break. The beer and soda they offer are an added bonus that keeps me coming back over and over. Thank you Staggering Ox for bringing such a wonderful little place to our town! I feel like I am supporting a local business that is unique, trendy, and yummy enough to go to even a national level. Many local businesses only last so long, but this place has been around forever! I remember eating at the Staggering Ox in Helena when I was about 11 yrs old. You guys rock!!!

There's only one bad thing about this menu, every single item is 5 star good, so you never know what to choose! From sandwiches to quesadillas to just the awesome salad they serve, you truly can't get better in the Billings area, also it's loca!l You're only at a loss if you haven't had Staggering Ox! The only con I've seen the lady who owns it treat customers and her workers pretty horrid, if you can stop by when she isn't there its best. She's to egotistical and thinks she's the best, unfortunate, but it doesn't change the taste of a good sandwich only ruins eating there or wanting to order as much per year.

I had the Texas Land Grab BBQ Sandwich on Dill bread at it was amazing. I thought the dill might be overpowering but it was well balanced and complimented the sandwich nicely. We had great service from our server Trae and an overall wonderful experience as always. We love the Ox!

My first time there!!! Extremely clean!!! Including the restrooms and public coolers of bottled drinks and the public fountain drink area!!! They are at the top of their game in cleanliness, friendliness, service and quality tasteful food for a decent price!!! I HIGHLY recommend if you get to Billings Montana you try this place out!!!

Doug writes his own poems for the radio ads, and it highlights how much effort he puts into the restaurant. The food is unique and fun, which is difficult to do in a sandwich joint. Monthly menu specials make it easy to return on a regular basis. Love the same sandwich every time, divy up the sauce for a new experience. Love this place, a staple for our family.

The sandwiches sounded really good but they didn't stand up to the advertising. I had the French Dip with French bread. The bread itself had no taste as was the case with the au jous. The cheese was plentiful and was what I tasted the most. The one server I did see was nice enough. You go to the counter to order so basically all the server did was take the order and then bring it to the table. It was very quiet for eating in but there was a bit of takeout business. I don't feel the food was worth the price and I doubt I'll be returning.

I had S.O. delivered via Door Dash last night, and let me tell you, it's an experience! I had the Hoagadilla and the pizza wheels and it was just *chef kiss* so good! I'm relatively new to the area and just discovered this place, but I will be ordering again and again! Amazing food!

I like most of the sammiches I've tried. The last one wasn't what I would call their best. I had the hot foot. Not hot and all i could taste was the jalapeno cheese sauce/paste that was in the center of the sandwich. The other times that I have been to S.O.B. the sammiches have been good and I would recommend them.

Their sandwiches are always pleasing, but it seems.they have made a few changes with the dishes they use. I usually get the camel toes with a potato side, bit the larger plate seems to make the potatoes cold quite quick. Been a fan since the 90's!! From Missoula to Billings, I just won't be getting my taters.

First off the customer service was is amazing. The guy I spoke with when trying to place my online order was great. Then he called just to say they couldnt cut the club. However the jamaican jerk was far from delicious. The mango salsa tasted canned and the chicken had the frozen after taste like reheated or previously frozen like Costco kind you use for caesar salads. The jerk sauce had the right seasonings but not enough of it and def not enough heat. The bread was the best part. The ox cookie is ok. I doubt I'd spend my money here again. But also if u order something else it might be great. 🤷🏾‍♀️😫

The employees were pretty engaged in the menu and offered some great recommendations. That was good to see, because I asked quite a few questions. One thing that I learned quickly is, I was over thinking! At the end of the day it is a sandwich. I enjoyed my meal, however; I wasn't impressed with the portions. I ate my sandwich in about six bites, as a matter of fact, I was still hungry when I left and I went to the Hawaiian bbq place right up the street and got something else to eat! HAHA! Would I go back, yes. Would I call home about this place, no. A suggestion, offer different sized sandwiches if possible, those with appetites would appreciate it!

Excellent idea. Great ambience and interior. Saw the tv ad and stopped on my way out of town. I ordered the "Saddam Slammed". The reason I give it 4 and not 5 stars is it took me 4 bites to find any meat, then there was just not hardly any meat in there.

If you live in Billings, and haven't eaten here, you live a sad neglected life. I arrived at The Ox for the first time on a winter's day over a year ago. I wanted to impress the girl I was dating at the time, and it seemed like a pretty "hip" place. I ordered a Mount Saint Helens sandwich, and when it arrived I was more confused then dyslexic during the final round of the World Scrabble Championship. The vertically standing cylinder that was placed in front of me was not a sandwich. A sandwich is two slices of bread with meat and veggies in between them. "How do I eat this very non sandwich like creation?" I asked myself. I worry that my date will think that I'm not very hip if I don't figure out the conundrum of the vertical food cylinder sitting mockingly in a little bowl on the cafe table. I venture forth, taking a large bite from the cylinder's apex, and am delighted and amazed that, not only does this vertical food cylinder taste like a sandwich, it tastes like I have only dreamed a sandwich could taste. My date all but forgotten, I plunged mouth first into the sandwich that made all others seem like so much refuse by comparison. As I get to the towards the bottom of the most uniquely delicious sandwich in my life, I feel a sense of loss, for I have reached as high as a sandwich could ever take me. Then the ecstasy of the last two bites arrives. How erred was my way of thinking, believing that what was on the inside that really counts? What is on the outside makes all the difference! I immediately dumped my date and asked the most beautiful girl I knew out. She said no, but the life lesson The Ox taught me is one I'll never forget.

I hade the sorry charlie and most places like SubWay and PitaPit normaly after 10 minutes the tuna gets a weird taste but with the Stagering Ox it was good for like 20 minutes and tasted really good.

Been coming here for over 4 years! I loved this place. They brought out my husbands food with a big hair right on top. I politely sent it back, and was instantly met with attitude. I went up to the counter after a little contemplation and POLITELY asked for a refund. Not a word was said to me, a sorry, nothing. Will never be coming back. :) would give zero stars if possible.
