Best fried fish we’ve had in ages! Highly recommend! Mango salsa and Cole slaw were awesome too! Mary was working her tail off but still took the time to chat with us and show us pictures of Glacier National Park! Stop by if you’re in the area!

I've wanted to try out this place for a while when visiting Billings but unfortunately never got around to it. I say unfortunately because I should have gone years ago. Fish and chips here is top notch and the best I've had in years. As someone who was born and raised in the UK, I like to think I know a good fish and chip shop. Mary could tell we were newbies when we arrived and steered us to the menus above the counter. We both ordered the catch of the day, haddock and chips. The portion size was large and delicious, well worth $12.50. We will definitely be back again.

You have to eat here if you are passing through. Mary was a freak host running the whole thing and the food was delicious!!!!!!!! I had the fish tacos and was not expecting such huge chunks of delicious flakey meat and the mango salsa was amazing addition on top. My wife got the fried clam strips and the fresh cut fries and everything is made to order battered and cooked fresh! Definitely will be stopping by again

A serving of ultra-crispy battered fish big enough to use in hand to hand combat. Odd location, but that's where the good stuff usually is. Fries were a bit under-fried, but cooked through and perfectly edible. Mary was quite friendly.

The headliner is Fish-N-Chips. And boy, howdy are they good! Half a pound of deep fried delight, with a massive pile of soft-on-the-inside, crsipy-on-the-outside, massive goodness. And the home-made tartar sauce was phenomenal. Brilliant food. 2 of us very happily split a single order. Highly recommended! The only possible downside I can think of is that the side of (delicious) coleslaw could have been bigger.

I travel all over the country for work and always seek out the local joints in my quest for the greatest fish and chips. For a long time a certain place in Ballard, Seattle held the title as the best I've had...but no longer. It pains me to know I may never surpass the bar set by Crazy Mary's. Seriously. Go here. We LOVE Mary, and her fish too! We have eaten here numerous times. The best was our son's 18th birthday he wanted Crazy Mary's, it was just as restaurants were open for the pandemic and we were excited to see she was still going strong. Once we mentioned his birthday she ran to the back and brought out fried oreos and a personalized Happy Birthday tune and a bit of a dance! She was happily surprised that he requested her food for his birthday dinner. The oreos were the BEST!

Mary is a firecracker for sure. You can quickly tell that she cares about the quality of her food and her customer's experience. Ordered a cup of New England Clam Chowder the Fried Fish and Chips. The chowder was tasty and full of pieces of clam and potatoes. But the star was definitely the Fish and Chips. Hands-down the best battered and fried fish I'd ever had. You definitely have to try it as a dine in meal first. Mary has it down to a science -4 mins for her to fry it up. Serving it fresh. The batter was crunchy, seasoned well, and just the perfect thickness. If you're not a fan of tartar sauce, give hers a shot. She makes it in house and it pairs perfectly with the fried fish with a squeeze or two of lemon juice. Coleslaw, also made in house, was a great side dish to all the fried goodness. I was lucky and there wasn't a wait when I stopped in on a late Friday afternoon. But even if there was a wait, it would have definitely been worth it. Bonus: she even gave me tips on places to avoid or checkout in the area!

Mary is one of my favorite humans on the planet. Not only does she make the absolute best fish in town she's one of the most real people you will ever meet. Every single time I'm in Billings I make it a point to stop here and eat. Her food is always very fresh. She makes every order fresh as you order it. Makes her own batter and all. Its all absolutely amazing. I've never had bad food here. Disclaimer: If you're sensitive and feel like every server is there only to serve you and if your glass isn't filled to the brim every time you take a sip do not eat here. Mary will be the first to tell you she's not one for customer service. She's there to tell you crazy stories, give you amazing life advice and cook you up the best meal of your life, not dote on you. The food is my favorite but I go more to visit Mary than anything. I always leave laughing and smiling, even on my worst of days and that is what puts this little hole in the wall on the top of my favorite places in town!

I can personally confirm Mary is crazy. CRAZY GOOD at making amazing fish and chips! Possibly the best I have ever had! The dine in area is way too small for this place, just 3 tables, so you will most likely have to get it to go. Well worth the effort to get there. VERY TASTY!

The food was great (fish and chips)... and Mary is a great person. She puts love into both the food and the time spent there. I honestly wish there were more places and more people like this. Passing thru, we loved the food and Mary. I had the deep fried catfish home fries and delicious slaw, my wife the sautéed haddock. A little bit hard to find because Google maps has it all wrong, but they will get you close. Use your brain after that. She's on 6th Ave North. Crazy Mary is a character and a sweetheart. If you don't love her and her food you probably like chain food and rude servers. Great experience, thanks Mary, I'll hold the door open for my wife from now on, lol.

Homemade fries, beer battered Haddock fried literally perfect, and inexplicably good fried meatloaf but you don't come for any of that, it's Mary herself you come for. She's super friendly and has a firecracker attitude that brings the entire atmosphere of her restaurant up 10 points. If you like good food and a good time, go here!

The fish and chips are excellent. The portion sizes are very large and a very good price for the size. The inside of the restaurant is quite small, but my wife and I have never felt cramped. We ate on their patio today, shielded from the sun by a tree. It was very nice. Crazy Mary lives up to her name, friendly and sassy. Good service. We definitely recommend it as a site to eat at in Billings.

I have been telling everybody about this place after I had her fish and chips. It really is AMAZING. I have been dreaming about it. Wish her place was somewhere close to me. I would go at least once a week. Her fish was HUGE. Very thick and long. Very juicy and crisp. She makes her own batter. It was very super fast service. I was on a run, so I had to do take out. She had everything packed for me. I read some articles that were posted at the restaurant while u waited for my food she's an amazing lady, did some great deeds. Her place is not only great to eat at, but for sure great place to support. When you're in billings Montana, for sure to visit her and have her yummy fish and chips for me!! Makes me hungry just thinking about it!!

Just tried this place for the first time today...... amazing food, I got the fish and chips and it was fairly priced very worth it. My wife had the clam strips that was also amazing. The food here is simple but delicious. Also Mary is a great lady, if it's busy stay out of the way but when it slowed down she came out and talked to us and was very friendly and entertaining.

The owner doesn't pretend to be anything except Crazy Mary, a very talented cook slinging delicious fish and other seafood on the outskirts of Billings. She doesn't pretend to have time to take your orders over the phone and you'd better pay attention when it is your turn to order or you might miss one of her rapid fire questions and get the wrong thing. The food was delicious (get the waffle fries!) and this from someone who is always skeptical about seafood in Montana. The place is small and not good for small children or I would have given it 5 stars.

What an incredible experience. Crazy Mary is extremely friendly and a joy to talk to about the menu. My wife and I split the catch of the day (standard fish and chips). This will be hard for most people to believe, but I think this might be the best fish and chips in the world. I've had fish and chips in California, Florida, Boston, even Ireland and London. This was as good or better than any place I've ever had the dish.

Must stop in Billings. To begin you are greeted by Mary, who is fantastic, funny and warm. We got the fish and chips and the clam strips. Whatever batter they use on the clam strips melts in your mouth...some quality flour for sure. The fish and chips also was good. Batterwd to perfection. Comes out nice and hot. Waffle fries and delicious and so are the natural cut fries. This place is a hidden gem. Who would have thought grade A fish fry would be nestled in between chop shops and old industrial buildings. Do yourself a favor and eat here. Good service, good food, happy belly.

I had the occasion to be in Billings this week. My wife and I like to try local restaurants instead of the national chains. While searching the options, I came upon Crazy Mary's Fish and Chips. I hadn't had good fish for some time, so off we went. I walked in and ran into this talkative lady who happened to be the owner. I said , so you're crazy Mary? She said , not yet, but likely by Friday. She was so fun to talk to and really enjoys her work. I said we drove from the far side of the state and she said maybe she could open a place in Missoula. So what about the food. Haddock is her fish of choice for the half pound fish and chips. I chose crispy fried and seasoned fries. And lest you think walking in I had to wait long, it was about five minutes till I had my dinner. My wife was in search of some broccoli cheddar soup, so we got a bowl of that as well. As for the soup, my wife said it was the best cheddar broccoli soup she ever had. I don't know if it was home made, but it was great. When I opened my half pound monster, it was cooked perfectly with a tasty crust. The tartar sauce was a great compliment. I also had the Cole slaw, which was mild and the only thing I would have added to it was some celery seed. The seasoned fries were a perfect compliment to the fish. As for me, next time in Billings, I'm headed back to see Crazy Mary and fill up on her Fish and Chips. And if she comes to Missoula, I'll be first in line.

So glad we found this gem. Crazy Mary's is a place everyone should experience. Great food, best shrimp I have had in forever. Menu is small, but everything is fresh, and many things run out if you don't get there early. We sat at the counter, and visiting with Mary as she cooked is worth the trip. Just found this restaurant. OH MY GOD. The fish is amazing not fishy tasting. If I want fish n chips this will be the only place I'll order it at again. Clam chowder was amazing wanted to take some home with me it's so good. Our little boy devoured his fish. Cute little homey restaurant very laid back I love that. This looks like a little colorful hole in the wall type place, becuase it was a little off the beaten path so to speak. The service was excellent and apparently we brought in business behind us. Seems to be a one woman show in there, nonetheless she was fantastic at keeping up with the orders. She had separate fryers for food allergies, which we didn't have but she did inform us anyway. The atmosphere was great and the food even better. I got the fish tacos with the peach salsa, the fish was perfectly battered and cooked (she didn't have timers either) and the peach salsa was amazing, I wish I had more! My fiancé got the fish sandwich, it was huge and equally perfectly fried! We were full for hours.

This place is awesome. My wife called to order take out. She said she would do fish and chips for take out but strongly suggested we come there and eat them there. We did end up going in and I'm glad we did. Mary was friendly and outgoing almost like you really were family. The fish and chips is by far the best I have found in Billings. It is in the same class as my favorite fish and chip joint in Alaska. This place will definitely scratch the itch when you are in the mood for good fish.

We found this restaurant on trip advisor and decided to give it a try. What a wonderful surprise this ended up being! The restaurant is pretty small so can become full really fast as it did when we were there. The food was hot, tasty, and served in big portions. Even the hot dog was huge lol! It was all delicious and homemade. I believe it was the owner who served us and she was really nice, funny, and great with our kids. Well probably be back next time we swing through Billings!

First visit......very pleased! During 8 months of Covid and very little take out, we were so glad to try Mary's for something different. Shrimp and 1 pound of Fish n Cips were great. We loved the seasoned string fries. The one large fish was cooked perfectly, great batter with flaky meat. The Clam Chowder was also a hit. YUM-O! Crazy Mary's is the real deal, great food in a very unique setting. The dining area is really small and intimate almost like dining with your extended family. If you're looking for swanky this ain't it. But if you're looking for tasty eats this is the place. Not only is the food out of this world Mary is constant entertainment. Beware though, you better have a sense of humor if you're going to eat here, it's a whole lot of fun. I have literally tried everything on the menu and I have never been disappointed. She doesn't just offer fried fish either, she'll pan fry, poach or whatever and she loves to use garlic which for me is a good thing because I love it. The atmosphere was so welcoming, we felt right at home. The staff was so welcoming and friendly. It was like talking to old friends! Now, onto the main purpose of why we came. The food! All I can say is wow. The food there is homemade, and you can tell how much love they put into it. Competitive with F & C we had at Edinburgh Castle Pub in SF way back then. Nothing else like it in MT. HUGE portions of F and C. Only thing missing was malt vinegar - maybe we just missed it. Mary's creates such a unique ambiance. It's such a hole in the wall place that feels like you've stepped out of Billings and straight into a boardwalk seafood shop. Don't you dare order chicken, because she will literally chew you out for coming to a fish shop and ordering chicken. I've tried her fish/chips (cod) and also her scallops, paired with her homemade tartar sauce. I'll definitely be back.

So good! First time? Give it a shot, you'll be glad you did. Driving up to the place for the first time is weird. It's a hole in the wall, not much going on around it. And when you get in. It's cramp. But that's to allow more people to enjoy the food. Everything we had was delicious...fish tacos and fish and chips. Quick and awesome service too.

My wife and I loved crazy Mary and we are now both crazy bout her food too. Simple menu well done all fish is made flesh to order. I had the fish tacos two of them each had a nice sized haddock filet. Mrs had the catfish n raw fried tators. We mixed and matched sides like her baked calico beans, and rich creamy clam chowder to name a few. And fit to be tied with a glowing fullness that I'm sure showed. Crazy Mary is a trip... worth taking.

The fish was pretty good but also pretty greasy. The cottage fries were good but the regular fries were limp and greasy. The coleslaw had no flavor. The fish taco was a huge chunk of fish in a little tortilla with a side of mango salsa, nothing else. Overall we weren't impressed. The fries need to be soaked and blanch fried, then fried again for crispness. The coleslaw needs way more vinegar, salt and sugar. I'm guessing the temperature of the oil needs to be tweaked so everything comes out less greasy.

Driving to the place, you think that the GPS brought you to the wrong spot. It's in a middle of an Industrial Park. Pull my truck up and knew I was about to have an epiphany. Walk in and Mary and her husband give a warm greeting. "Sorry all we got is fish and chips, it's been a really busy day." Me being from Wisconsin and on a Friday night, that was what I was looking for. You get a huge fillet of Haddock, perfect fries, and awesome coleslaw. The best part though is the atmosphere. The place is small and everybody was talking with each other. Mary gets going, rambling on in the kitchen, joking with everyone. It was like a home cooked meal. Exactly what I needed on a long vacation.

I had the the catch of the day with a side of home cut fries, soft and warm buttery carrots, a lemon wedge, and the best tardar sauce I have ever had!! Mary is an absolute jem too. She interacts with the customers, is kind, funny, and too the point. Her menue is small, but it's large enough to accommodate for different preferences and to operate her kitchen. I had the fish sandwich and my guy had the fish and chips. The fish was done to perfection and the serving was very generous (esp the fish and chips portion). Next time we’ll share that. The “jojo fries”, which are steak cut baked potatoes, were DELISH! She has three different fryers going to separate fish, shellfish and fries. Mary is a talker which adds to the atmosphere. My only “complaint” was that it was a teeny bit hard to find, and since it’s on a one way street it meant taking a couple of extra turns. Now I know!

It is a tight little spot, nustled in an industrial area - it will take your navigation to find it unless your local. MJ and I both enjoyed a bowl of chowder and split an order of the fish and chips.
