Reviews of Miss Shirley's Cafe, Roland Park
Kara Clark
Overall experience very fun brunch location, really enjoyed the outdoor dining. Food arrived hot and well cooked. If you want something different for breakfast then this is your place. I'm not a fan of all the mix and match breakfast items or the mixture of flavors but the food is over good. Drinks are delicious! Waiter Roy was really helpful and accommodating when I asked to return a dish I was not fond of, it was nothing wrong with the dish, just wasn't for me. He gave me options to make the dish better and was very polite.

Me and my wife ate here for the first time on Wednesday for my birthday. Our waiter was exceptional and gave out great feedback on the food we asked him about. We started with the hot honey fried chicken deviled eggs and monkey bread, both were delicious. My only complaint about the monkey bread is some of the bread was tough, overall I would give it a 9.5 out of 10. We also had the strawberry orange juice which was delicious as well. For our meal we both went with peach cobbler french toast, it was very delicious and fulfilling. As with the monkey bread my only complaint is some parts of the French toast was tough. We both enjoyed our experience and will return again in the future.

Great breakfast!
Service was awesome! Very friendly and attentive
My wife and I started with the hot honey chicken deviled eggs. Very good. Sauce has a bit of a kick to it! I went with the fried chicken biscuits and gravy omelet. It was delicious. Highly recommend. My wife went with the monthly French toast special. Very delicious too.
It's higher end, higher quality breakfast food, so you do pay slightly higher for it. But it's worth it.

I like Miss Shirley's because the atmosphere is nice and the staff is always friendly and never bother you if you sit too long. It's a great place for out of town guests for that reason. The food is always good, but sometimes I think the options can feel limited. I am not that big on breakfast food and the other options are definitely not low carb. 😁 However, the food is always fresh and delicious. It's not a cheap place either, but like I say, nothing is nowadays. Nice place to go for Sunday brunch or lunch with your girlfriends. There is parking in the back which I always forget about.

I've been here so many times in the past but never wrote a review. Recently visited after a long hiatus and it was like finding a long lost friend. The banana chocolate pancakes were amazing. The shrimp and grits were superb. The monkey bread is an excellent group appetizer to share. I wouldn't recommend the shepherd's pie because it just doesn't have a very traditional feel.

My favorite place for creative soul food brunch in Baltimore. It's always busy so accept that you may have to wait for a table especially on Sat or Sun. But just wait, because it's worth it, and the staff communicates well and is very efficient. The food remains the star of the show. Top to bottom a lovely place to eat.

I got taken here for lunch while I was interviewing for a position in Baltimore. It’s a southern-style, homestyle cooking and it was incredible. I was excited to here the place was featured on “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” and I had to get an item from the show. I got the shrimp and grits and it was everything I could have hoped for. Some of the best grits I’ve ever had and they sat on top of a fried green tomato. I had a hard time deciding on food because the whole menu looked amazing.
Nyree Lyons
The food was delicious. I never had fried green tomatoes. They were sweet and fried to perfection. The fried deviled eggs were a delicacy that I devoured! Stuffed French toast amazing! Strawberry bourbon had the perfect mixtures. My only complaint was that one sausage link was 6 dollars.

I have been there at least 3 times now and the service is always nice and the food always great! Pictures attached are of banana chocolate chip specialty pancakes, fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs (fried pimento cheese ones are my favorite of the ones they offer), apple cider mimosa, and coconut cream stuffed challah french toast (my goodness is it stuffed! Signature favorite for a reason)

Miss Shirley's is literally a little slice of Heaven! The menu options are indulgent and delicious and most of the items on the menu are large enough for two! The Maple Bacon Stuffed French Toast is addictive and once you've had it you'll wonder where it's been all your life. Located on Cold Spring Ln near the Loyola campus, they have ample dining space to suit small and large groups and both indoor and outdoor dining options as well as street and rear lot parking. This is a popular destination for dining anytime but Brunch in particular and you will be delighted that you stopped by...

This is my second review of Miss Shirley Cafe. The first one disappeared from this site
This cafe is just the right place when you want good comfort food that tastes satisfying with a smile and great customer service. The staff also serves your food in a timely manner and at the right temperature. We had a slight problem, but it was handled immediately with an apology from one of the managers. Thanks

My wife and I took our 10-month-old daughter on a Tuesday morning and were treated to a fabulous meal. Our server, Cathy, did a wonderful job taking care of my family. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves and will be going again.

Everything is always delicious at Miss Shirley's! I've never ordered avocado toast at a restaurant because I make it at home, but this avocado toast sounded too good to pass up. It was like avocado & ceviche on top of toast! So delicious. The biscuits were warm and super flavorful. Nice idea to stuff the everything biscuit with cream cheese. That strawberry jalapeno sauce went well with both biscuits too!
My friend had the white chocolate & chocolate pancakes with the bbq pulled pork deviled eggs & she said that everything was super good & had no complaints.
I love coming to Miss Shirley's!
Cassie
I thoroughly enjoyed Get Your Grits On!!!!
DELICIOUS. Shrimp Grits Fried Geeen Tomatoes. My new favorite!
We had an wonderful time at Ms. Shirley's today. Our server Mary Katherine was awesome she has a great personality. I highly recommend that you visit Ms. Shirley's and get your grits on!
Mrs. Ellis-Armstrong
The food was ok. The chicken and waffles had so many different flavors going on. I’m adventurous with food but it was too much. The butter was spiced with pimentos. The waffles had jalapeños dusted with Cajun seasoning. The chicken was fried and was good. The maple syrup was good. It also came with some type of dipping sauce (maybe honey mustard). It was an explosion of flavors but not for me. They also offer the same dish in other flavors. Maybe next time…

I have been to Ms. Shirley’s once before and remember it was very good. My fiancé and some friends returned today and it was just as good as I remember. Our server Erica was amazing, super friendly and accommodating. The Buffalo shrimp deviled eggs were great. I created my own omelette which did not disappoint. My fiancé had “ get my grits on” he says he rates them a 5 out of 5. Our drinks were excellent also. I can’t say enough good stuff about today’s visit. I highly recommend Ms. Shirley’s.

We went here on a Thursday around noon. Decent crowd but we were seated immediately! Our waitress (Gabby) was fantastic & very knowledgeable about the food items. Wait once we ordered was short (10-12 minutes) We ordered chicken&waffles and the shrimp n grits (with salmon instead of shrimp) & a short stack of pancakes. The shrimp n grits comes with some delicious sauce & 2 of the best fried green tomatoes on this side of heaven!! I also ordered a cocktail. The food (ALL OF IT) was absolutely 😋😋😋DELICIOUS! The waffles- I ordered half savory (with green onion & topped w/cheese) & half regular. Skip the regular waffle guys- that savory waffle is TO DIE FOR! Chicken was actually 3 tenders but seasoned & fried to perfection. The salmon was omg delicious..hot& juicy! The pancakes were the best I'VE EVER HAD (plain buttermilk)! My ONE issue was the Grits- they were COLd (a lot cooler than lukewarm) BUT THEY TASTED SO GOOD THAT I CAN'T EVEN DEDUCT FROM THIS RATING! 𝓜𝓻𝓼. 𝓢𝓱𝓲𝓻𝓵𝓮𝔂, 𝔀𝓱𝓮𝓷 𝓘 𝓻𝓮𝓽𝓾𝓻𝓷 𝓘 𝓷𝓮𝓮𝓭 𝓶𝔂 𝓰𝓻𝓲𝓽𝓼 𝓼𝓮𝓻𝓿𝓮𝓭 ⱧØ₮!!! Please & thank you. Prices are a little higher than reasonable (close to $75 for all above plus a glass of apple juice. There are numerous awards from food critics & the food Network & articles galore. I legit can see why. 𝕋𝕙𝕚𝕤 ℙ𝕝𝕒𝕔𝕖 𝕚𝕤 𝔸𝕄𝔸ℤ𝕀ℕ𝔾- I cannot wait to return!

By POPULAR DEMAND......ya fav Honest Foodie decided to wake up a lil early and head over to Baltimore's popular brunch staple, Miss Shirley's Cafe.
Upon arrival, there was a 40 minute wait to be seated, which is pretty normal, I hear. We finally were seated in a nice, spacious dining area. Plenty of privacy. The staff is very cool and we're knowledgeable on all their menu items. Kudos on that! I'm a Food Deviewer, though! So, let me tell yall about that!
ITEMS ORDERED:
"Chicken & Mini Belgian Waffles" 🔥🔥🔥
I can't get down with the Mini Waffles, but, it still was good and a go-to for many
"Fried Green Tomatoes" SMACK!💥
Served with lemon-herb aioli and chow chow, I SMASHED!😎
"Funky Monkey Bread" SMACK!💥
They are basically serving dessert early as hell! I like the fresh banana slices and the chocolate goodness. I wouldn't recommend if you can't handle a ton of sugar or cinnamon.
"Grandpa's Cornbread" 🔥🔥
It's served with jalapeño butter🤔 it's an acquired taste. Not my type of hype, but, I can see a spice lover trying it out.
The sandwich I ordered was the "Sothern Slammer." (with the hash brown) I will not recommend that dish to yall. In my opinion, it had absolutely NO TASTE and the lettuce and tomato on a breakfast sandwich through me all the way off👎🏽 The hash brown was SMACK!💥 though.
Also, the biscuits that are pictured, were recommend by my company, but, these were BRICK-HARD! 😡We actually had those sent back!
OVERALL, Miss Shirley's Cafe was a cool vibe and they have a pretty extensive menu, including Vegan and Gluten-free iptions. Just make sure you call and see if there is any wait time.

Fabulous first experience. Our server Maya was excellent; very courteous and attentive. Answered all our questions. We were seated much quicker than expected.
Food to table was very quick, especially considering it was very busy on a Sunday afternoon lunch time.
Food was great. I had Coconut Cream Stuffed French Toast!! Holy moly, it was huge aaaand so so so delicious! Wow! Best French Toast I’ve ever eaten.
Highly recommend. A tiny bit pricey but very well worth it and we will definitely be back!!
Katoria Tinsley
Wonderful time and good service. I gave them 3 stars instead of 4/5 because my food was over seasoned which is a problem because of my blood pressure. I also am not a fan of half and half creamer but I bought my own so my coffee was good. I also wasn't a fan of our seating because as soon as the door opened we felt the cold draft.

I came to brunch with my mentor from Morgan Upward Bound and God-sister who was my Resident Director at Morgan Upward Bound. Our brunch was delicious! When we got to our table it had to be cleaned. The bathroom was clean. Our waitress was friendly and nice. She selected my waffles and chicken meal. One of us had Poor Boys and she stated it was excellent. Great picks! I cleared my plate. The atmosphere was friendly.

When I hear the name Miss Shirley, I think of an overweight woman with fat arms putting her heart and soul into the food. This was more like Miss Betsy. It wasn’t disgusting, but not extremely tasty either. The worst dish waa most definitely the deviled eggs with Buffalo cocktail shrimp. Not sure why I even thought that would be good, but I almost lost my stomach contents after one bite. My waitress was lovely, but I don’t think that’s enough of a reason to return.

Service was nice, the order was chicken and french toast/waffles. The chicken was overcooked ..on the dry side.. Typically I let the manager know but I just didn't feel like the process today....I just knew it was going to be juicy. Fried green tomatoes were ok. Drink was fresh.

Always get the fried deviled eggs! They are a must and you can never go wrong! The honey mustard they have with the chicken and waffles is amazing! I get it on the side so I can dip my chicken! I don't even like honey mustard but this one is on point. Give it a try, I promise you. Oh yeah, the red velvet doughnuts are dangerously delicious!
Mister Dan
Unimpressive place to spend good money on mediocre food. Had the Amy's Bayou Omelet; I think there were (maybe) 4 overcooked shrimp in there. A lot of indistinguishable textures inside the omelet. $20 omelet. $4 coffee. I was hoping for more. The grits and biscuit were great. Service was good.

First time going here and so upset with myself for not going sooner! The food is epic! We were seated shortly before close on Sunday and even that late in the day everything was perfect. So excited to go back!

Liga Robertie
Absolutely delicious and fancy breakfast! Banana chocolate chip pancakes were amazing. Also the cheesecake stuffed french toast. This place is very kid friendly. Kids meals are served in a lunch box, which is very smart and convenient. They have even stroller parking spot at the restaurant. Best breakfast place I have been so far in Baltimore area.
Wanda Gray
I wanted a BLT, the menu had grilled chicken. My waitress gave me exactly what I wanted with the freshest yellow tomatoes and yummy toasted bread. I love this place!
Jacqueline Young
I was in the area for a TedTalk and needed a spot for breakfast. I was not disappointed and was able to try something new to me. Food and service were great!

It has been years since experiencing a culinary explosion of tastes at Miss Shirley's; and still remains a staple that stimulates the senses! Enjoyed the cran-apple cider mimosa, grapefruit brulee, and the Gumbo Eggs Benedict! Very busy; fast service - they've perfected their operations!

Attentive server
Great food..
Had their signature chicken and waffles … portions smaller than pictured in other google reviews but still excellent taste 5/5
FRIED CHICKEN, BISCUITS & GRAVY OMELET was good 3/5 having fried chicken in an omelette might not be the best idea !
Some good lemonades too

Miss Shirley's definitely lives up to its reputation. The food was delicious and well prepared. The staff is friendly and we were impressed that the facility is nut free as the kids have severe allergies. Would recommend the Mango Lemon biscuits, Peach & Brown Sugar donuts, and the Fried Chicken, Biscuits & Gravy omelet. Portions are very generous.
Carlita B.
My first time there, I thoroughly enjoyed the food, staff was positive and they consistently kept the area cleaned when someone got up to leave.

Who ever is inventing the menu and the cook also is so talented their food is out of this world 10/10 i recommend. Just be prepared to have a sugar rush.

I have been wanting to go to Miss Shirley's since I moved to Baltimore and it did not disappoint! Everything was so delicious! The restaurant was heaving with people and the server still made us feel like we weren't rushing him and the food came swiftly. We had the mango biscuits which were a perfect blend of fluffy and crunchy. Seriously would go back again for those biscuits alone. I had the coconut stuffed French toast which was massive and delicious! Will definitely be returning.
brniq stevenson
Food was absolutely amazing! I had the strawberry lemonade mojito which was delicious. My friend and I shared the Belgian waffles which were so good! And of course the fried green tomatoes are the best ones I’ve ever had! Our server was also very pleasant.
sanaz sadeghi
The food was delicious, and the staff were super nice. I had the southern slammer sandwich and I loved it, the grit was also super tasty. The green mix side is less impressive, I will probably order something else next time.

I ❤❤❤ Miss Shirley's Cafe! I took my little Sis for a visit - first time in person since the pandemic started. I otherwise ordered thru
Doordash, but the in-person experience is definitely a vibe at this location. Definitely will be back!
Pictured: shrimp/salmon & grits, biscuits, potatoe hash, grapefruit mimosas.

Miss Shirley had great southern recipes, and they are available at the eponymous, Miss Shirley's Cafe on Cold Spring Lane west of Charles Street and east of the Cold Spring Lane exit of I-83,the Jones Falls Expressway.
We arrived after the traditional lunch hour, but the restaurant had plenty of customers. The hostess said that there was a short wait. She recommended that we wait in the waiting area, but she said that she'd text us if we wanted to wait outside.
Our wait was brief, and we were seated promptly. Our server showed us the QR code that allowed our phones to access the menu.
My wife ordered a short stack of pancakes with pineapple. She enjoyed her dish. I had grilled breaded boneless chicken with waffles. Everything was excellent except the chicken. It was not juicy. It was a bit dry. Hence, only four stars.
Service was prompt and efficient without being overly intrusive. The decor was nice, and the place is clean and neat. Prices are reasonable. There's free parking in back, but not enough spots. We were fortunate that someone was leaving just as we arrived because all the other spots were taken. There were no electric car charging stations in the lot.

Short version: Miss Shirley's is a fantastic breakfast/brunch spot, and I don't have to tell you that -- their accolades speak for themselves. I'd strongly recommend.
Long version. My fiance and I dined here on a busy summer Sunday morning around 10:30AM. It was our first time there. I started off with the Spicy Shirley (their take on a bloody mary) which was delicious. We then got the fried green tomatoes, which were excellent and served with an impressive flair. The tomatoes were battered in what tasted like a cornmeal batter and fried super crispy and then topped with a tasty aioli. I would have preferred the tomatoes to be sliced a little thinner, rendering them a bit more tender, but they were still excellent nonetheless. I then ordered the Kentucky Lemonade, which was another fantastic morning cocktail. For our main dishes, I ordered the chicken and waffles signature dish, and my fiance ordered the fried chicken and biscuit gravy omelette. Both dishes were excellent. In my dish, the chicken was tenderloin pieces deliciously breaded and fried, though lacking slightly in sesame seeds for a dish that's described as being sesame-seed fried chicken. Either way, they were delicious, as were the waffles and all the toppings on the waffles. My fiance thought that the biscuit was delicious -- it had bits of cream cheese in it. But she perhaps would have liked more of the gravy, which was super tasty. She also really enjoyed the omelette. She said it all went together really well. She ordered the grits as a side dish, and we both felt that they were a bit too firm and lacking in salt -- a little bit more chicken stock would have gone a long way. In any case, those are minor nitpicks and we both thoroughly enjoyed our meals and Miss Shirley's and we will surely be back. I should also mention that the portion sizes were very generous and we both had food to take home with us. Our server was also very sweet and the service was great. I would strongly recommend Miss Shirley's.

The Food was amazing, customer service was amazing, and the environment was A1. The Manager came over to check on us once we were provided our dishes and ask the right questions. Thumbs up.
JAR123
I really wanted to love it but I didn’t. The biscuit was pretty much hard, cold, and small. The soup was pretty good but I was expecting it to be chunkier based off the picture. Idk maybe my expectations were to high

First time here. My husband took me after having my pre op at Union Memorial. What nice place. Very clean and love the atmosphere. Our waitress was great and the food was fantastic. Had the Coconut Mango Crush( it was 5°clock somewhere 😁😁😁. I would highly recommend going and seeing for yourself. I had the fried chicken, biscuit and Chicken gravy omelet with hash browns 🤤🤤🤤. My husband had the Chicken and Waffles.

When is Miss Shirley's not fabulous?? Never, this restaurants menu is small but MIGHTY!! A collection of breakfast favorites, delicious morning cocktails and a few twists that you just can't experience anywhere else. A few in the group took advantage of the 2-course Restaurant Week menu, you got a app and entree for $20 bucks. Fried green tomatoes were fried with a crisp and the accompanying chow gave it the extra zing it needed. The peach donuts are for a sophisticated palate, the kids didn't like them much (parents didn't complain). Fancy Smanchy Chicken and Waffles was delightful, stuffed French Toast was overly sweet but as expected, banana chocolate chip pancakes were sinfully delicious and put me in a food coma. Did you notice how cute the kids meal was in it's own bento tray, adorable and delicious. I especially liked this particular location over the Inner Harbor one because we had no wait time #WINNERWINNER

Today, my buddies and I went to eat at Miss Shirley’s, the Roland Park location. Prior to coming, I was perhaps apprehensive given my lack of knowledge about the restaurant and my previous trauma about my “b-word” of my ex-wife, Shirley. She took my kids, the dogs, and left me only one thing left: my dignit- just kidding it’s my love for southern cooking. When I came in, the atmosphere was nothing but cozy. It was warm inside with a soft orange glow, reminding me of the warmth I used to have in my marriage prior to the divorce that SHE caused. When I was sat down to the table by our lovely hostess Kaya, she was ready and able to find the perfect spot for us, right in the middle of the eatery. My friends were served immediately by our dignified and illustrious server Royce, who was there to answer all of our questions, comments, queries, and concerns. Our busser, a quaint man named Adam, was attentive and friendly, just like I used to think Shirley was. However, he wasn’t faking it the entire time for my money. Instead, he was truly lovely and helped us in any problem. When a glass of the pulp filled and delicious orange juice spilled, he was right there cleaning it up. It almost brought me to tears. Our food? It came out quick and it was AMAZING. Truly, my omelet and hash browns were some of the best cooking I’ve had this side of the Mississippi. My friends loved their meals too, and I was excited to digest and dine in. I love you, Shirley. And I love you, Miss Shirley’s.

Fantastic brunch in Baltimore! Probably one of the most sought after breakfast spots. Parking is tricky so be smart on skipping the rush or be ready to walk a couple blocks. Worth the walk, worth the wait. Our food was delicious and the menu photos are extremely reliable. We ordered our food and drinks, and both came out in record speed. The spicy bloody is worth getting too.
We would definitely come back! Though probably on a Friday morning again to skip the rush.
Elizabeth Vana
Delicious and inventive dishes - I’m still dreaming about the coconut cream stuffed French toast, it was amazing. Definitely coming back here!

I truly enjoyed my food and the service.
Myself and my partner arrived at 10am on a Sunday and there was no wait for a table.
Shortly after being seated our waitress came to our table to take our order.
The cran-apple cider mimosa was good. The shrimp and grits with fried green tomatoes along with the buffalo fried chicken mashed potatoes were scrumptious and filling.
What put the service over the top for us was having not one but two managers/supervisors come to our table to check in with us. This made our day to see them visiting tables conversing with the patrons.
We appreciate this level of customer service. (Same review posted on Yelp)

The greatest menu in the state the food was excellent and the service was great 👍 👌 😋 😀

Best fried pickles I have ever had! Great crab cakes! The broccoli salad was out of this world. I tried the avocado deviled eggs and they were awesome. Our server Chris was on target and took great care in serving us! Thank you Chris. I will definitely eat here when I come back from North Carolina.
Ingrid Williams
My food was delish! I ordered the skinny salmon Shirley...the place was clean and didn't give me the Willies...like some that appear to be clean and guess what!? The bathroom was clean a plus for me!

This was my first time at this restaurant. The atmosphere was inviting🧘🏽♀️, the service provided by Catherine was top notch⭐and the food was delicious😋. Not much more to say because those 3 things are all you need 😊.

It is amazing! Everything tasted great! Our waitress was kind, attentive and always checked on us as though we were her only customers. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this restaurant!
Ilka Knüppel
One of my favorite places! Food is so delicious! Ate half my meal before I remembered to take a picture. Parking can be problematic.

Stopped in today for breakfast with my fiancé. This was our first time here, and we will definitely be back if we are in the area! The restaurant was spotlessly clean and our server Claire was excellent. The cinnamon danish pancakes were unreal. The eggs were cooked exactly the way we ordered and the potatoes were seasoned perfectly. Overall great experience!
Thomas Brodar
I can see why they have earned so many food awards. There was easy parking right across the street. The menu options were magnificent. I had never eaten waffles and chicken before but the combo was delicious. I even bought a coffee mug to take home. Great place if you know about it!
Ms. Mel and Aj.f
Basic, very basic and pricey. Two pieces of bacon where? Eggs were bland. Ihop would have been cheaper with pancakes. Don't believe the hype. Mimosa was small for $10 but tasty!..also not black owned like I thought!
Michelle Cancel
Food was amazing, had the shrimp, fried green tomatos and grits. Sooo good! I tried my friends order of peach pancakes with bluecheese...omg, will definitely order that when I visit again.
Cierra Wilson
The food and service was amazing. Brian our waiter was very attentive and the manager even walked by and checked on us often. You would think it was a new establishment but it truly just shows the consistency over the years. We will absolutely be back!
Daniel Montague
Rather than wait 45 minutes to be seated for lunch, we ordered carry out. The food was ready in 15, and it was good. But it's pricey. Each sandwich was nearly $20. It was a nice splurge, but we won't be back soon.
John Palmer
The staff were awesome and the food was really great. Gluten free pancakes were delicious and so were the roasted potatoes. The grits were a little bland but that was my only complaint. Will definitely go again.

From the time I was a student to now visiting the area and catching up with friends, Miss Shirley's had been delicious and CONSISTENT all these years.
We had the omlette and the chicken and waffles and everything was amazing. Staff is attentive and accountable which is such a breath of fresh air.
Thanks for making my trips to the area enjoyable, keep up the great work!
Bertha Gilmer
.....best time to go is either early or before they close...food and portions were great...down side the wait for our food was quite noticeable...
Mike DiFilippo
Excellent menu choices with hundreds options by combining 1/2 salads, soups, bowls or sandwiches. And that doesn’t even count the marvelous baked goods - yum! Food is prepared quickly and with attention to detail. Thumbs up!
Cassandra Bailey
I went here for my birthday celebration with my family. The food was fantastic and did not disappoint. We ordered cookies and cream cheesecake French toast and the Fiesta siesta skillet. My kids loved their pancake meals! The restaurant was very clean and the management was on point with checking on us!

Looking for a different selection of food items, with a great atmosphere and top notch service then this place is a must.
Sam Figueroa
Coconut cream french toast looked better than it tasted. Wife's Slammer sandwich, I thought was good but the fried green tomato was mushy. Mini waffles were cold. Overall ok food, way overpriced.

I'm all about gluten-free goodness! I really appreciate it when a restaurant offers options that are friendly to alternative diets and allergies. I ordered to-go, which was not as customizable as I would have liked, but I plan on taking my hubby here for some brunch soon. I look forward to my dine-in experience!!! I'll update this then.
Ryan Van Horn
Took the family here on a Saturday morning and the wait was fairly short, 15-20 minutes. Upon being seated we were informed they use the QR code-style menu like most restaurants.
After a few minutes we ordered our drinks and promptly ordered food; the kiddos ordered pancakes with chocolate and strawberry added from the kid's menu and the adults ordered the Fiesta Siesta Skillet and Cookies & Cream French Toast. For being a kid's menu item, the pancakes were exceptionally delicious. They not only placed strawberries and chocolate morsels on top, but also IN the pancakes and they were very flavorful.
If you've ever been to a Miss Shirley's Café, the orders of French toast are massive. As a family of four we all shared the Cookies & Cream French Toast and had some left over to bring home. Finally, the Siesta Skillet was a very warm brunch item that had just a hint of spice from the jalapeños, it was a very filling meal that left us all extremely satisfied.
We'll definitely be back to try some other items on their menu!
Priscilla Bowers
I love Miss Shirley's Cafe. Everything in the menu is great. It's one of the few places where you can order anything and won't be disappointed. The wait is long but well worth it and they're also very organized. Always a good experience.
Nancydee Nihilist
The menu just changed! It was great! I went a few years ago but wasn't impressed especially with the hype i expected more. But this time the wait was long but the food was great and the service was as well. Our server was also a fellow vegetarian like myself so she understood my dietary restrictions and was able to personally guarantee the food had no traces of meat or meat power or fat in it. The menu just changed recently as of October 2022 and it was great. They even have alcohol drinks to order for brunch to make it a special outing! And it was. The menu change really made this place worth the wait and a nice dining experience. Its a little pricy but not too bad. With specialty alcoholic drinks for two the meal was about 30 per person. The portions were great too. I couldn't finish mine but my friend was able to finish hers, i don't know how. Anyway they have a dish for everyone and it makes for a really nice meal and special outting. Without the drinks im sure it would be just as nice but more cost efficient.

Had a lovely brunch here! The place is bigger than expected and the service is wonderful! We arrived before noon, so there wasn’t a long wait. The coconut cream stuffed French toast was delicious! Coco nutty and sweet. I ordered the Crab Happy Sammy which had a delicious crab cake on top! The make your own omelets were delicious because they have very nice and fresh ingredients. We had a great time!

This was my first visit and all I can say is outstanding service, food was great, delicious, unlike any thing that I have eaten. You should fast the day before and enjoy the experience. Even the presentation was definitely an eye opener. Will visit soon.
Noah Duran
Honestly a bit disappointed with the eggs benedict with the crab cake. It should be served with an English muffin because the fried pepper just didn't go with the crab and egg. This dish could be much much better. Otherwise everything else was great!

An upscale diner. Long time favorite for many in the Baltimore area, including us. An oasis in Baltimore's food desert landscape. Nice diner atmosphere.
Good breakfast sandwiches, hot mess omelet is good, pancakes and waffles smell and taste the way they should.
Pricey for a diner menu but given location and lack of real competition, understandable.
Elizabeth A
I was skeptical about the biscuits but oh my goodness the food was so good. The eggs were seasoned and the gravy was great. The grits were a bit dry but nothing really to complain about. Staff were all lovely!

Went for lunch on Tuesday during restaurant week to celebrate my birthday. Were seated immediately upon arrival. Took 15 minutes for the server to acknowledge us despite the many empty tables. In those 15 minutes two employees collided and the tray of food went flying. Hot oatmeal splattered all over me & the guest across from us. Had to ask for napkins etc to clean it up when it was plain to see that we’d used ours. The server was clueless about restaurant week and told us to look online for answers to our questions. Took our drink and food order at the same time and never returned until we asked for the check. We ordered the strawberry pineapple biscuits, coconut stuffed French toast and pineapple upside down pancakes. They delivered someone else’s order to us. Then when ours arrived it was wrong as well. The strawberry biscuits were dense and hard, However the ebt bagel was fluffy and delish so we benefited from their mistake. The French toast was comically GIGANTIC. The pancakes were just regular pancakes with pineapple in and atop. No raspberry sauce or anything “upside down” about them. Very disappointed. I worked in the industry for many years and can say with confidence that the service was awful and the food overpriced. Also, the server stands over you as you pay with your card (no cash allowed) and the options for tipping on the handheld device are 20% 22% & 25% of the cost INCLUDING TAX. Makes it very awkward when the service was terrible. Skip Shirleys and go to one of the “moons.” $58 for 1 glass of tap water, French toast and biscuits and pancakes is better spent elsewhere.

1,000x YES! Great portions for the $, awesome service, and extremely clean. All typical COVID measures are being taken and then some. We loved the fact that brown lunch-size paper bags were provided, for masks to be stored, while eating.
The Coconut Cream Stuffed French toast, Fried Green Tomatoes, and Bayou Deviled Eggs were all AMAZING!
EAT HERE👍

Brunch was very nice. Had the oreo cookies stuff french toast. Such a treat! The chicken and biscuit omelet was amazing. Enjoyed the outdoor patio in the back. This restaurant is doing a fantastic job with Covid precautions and social distancing.

I would ride pass Ms. Shirley's everyday so I decided to have breakfast there, the service was great but the food I ordered was so so. Some ppl I have talked to hype this place up , it's ok but I will not be returning. My chicken was fry to hard and my waffles was good.
Mary Claire Waterman
Really love this slice of Baltimore. Best brunch spot in town! Service and food is unmatched 😋 always ask for specials but be sure to save room for coconut stuffed French toast
Zachary Herb
Miss Shirley’s is undoubtedly one of the quintessential Baltimore breakfast spots! Believe the hype...this spot earns its reputation with delicious Bloody Marys stacked with toppings, chicken and waffles that provide a choice to go savory or sweet (don’t skip those cheddar onion waffles!), and sweet options like stuffed French toast that will blow you away.
We’ve consistently enjoyed each visit, and make it a point to return each time we’re in Baltimore. Our most recent visit was no exception, and Julie provided attentive service and thoughtful recommendations when ordering!
Tips: Be prepared to wait if arriving during peak hours. When ordering, keep in mind portions are generous!
Jennifer Zink
Love it, food is good and large portions. Cocktail 🍹 Mimosa was delicious. Suggestions might be small dessert menu. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Rashida R
Food is delicious!! Get there early gets crowded quick! This spot NEVER disappoints!!
Kai Cimmino
I was kindly greeted by the hostess this morning and promptly seated. The restaurant has ample seating (and parking behind the restaurant as well as diagonally across the street). My server, James, quickly greeted me offering beverages, the day’s specials and asked about any allergies. He offered suggestions on the menu and shared some of his favorites as well as patrons’ favorites. The fair trade coffee was smooth and bold, and I was topped off a couple times during my breakfast. The kitchen prepared meals quickly and the plates that came out were stunning, mine included. Portions are generous, leaving me with no room for dessert, though the options were tempting. Overall the restaurant is managed and run efficiently. It was quiet when I arrived and the tables quickly began to fill but still, things moved smoothly. This was an enjoyable meal and atmosphere. If/when I return to Baltimore, I would definitely come back here.
Highly suggest for meat eaters and non-meat eaters alike.

The chicken tenders was bangin 😋😋😋 I thought "Miss Shirley's" was a soul food restaurant 😏 I like my strawberry lemonade or any lemonade sweet, but I am definitely going back when I have enough time to go through the menu ✌🏿
Akua
I absolutely love Miss Shirley’s cafe. The food always fresh and tasty. I love their Funky Monkey Bread topped banana slices and dusted with the right amount of powdered sugar and cinnamon, Chicken ‘N Cheddar Green Onion Waffle dusted with Cajun spice, and Freshly Squeezed Strawberry Lemonade. This restaurant is wheelchair accessible and the staff are very friendly. Check it out.
Jimmy Gibson
Food was good. Drinks you can't taste the alcohol but I had a special made to take care of that. I had a skillet and it was alot of food in that little thing the greens were good somewhere I would like to go again
Kimberly Jackson
I have a gluten allergy so there's not many places to get gluten free options let alone waffles. I ordered some togo last week. They weren't cooked all the way through. I called just to let them know but John, who answered the phone, insisted that I could receive them again another time for free. I came back the next day and the manager apologized for the mistake. I got the gluten waffles again and was able to enjoy them! They were really good! The customer service there is great. I'll be back!
Dee Deigh
Stopped by for breakfast and had the chicken and waffle. It was very delicious. The waffles were fluffy and the chicken cooked to perfection. The wait staff were very friendly. I also like the fact that before I place my order I was asked if I have any food allergies and when I mentioned my food allergies, a gentleman came out to asked about any concerns or questions I may have. Very attentive.
Jacob North
This was my fist time at Miss Shirley's and I can say that I will definitely be going back. I was looking for a place to get a nice brunch; this happened to be the place I was recommended by a friend. The food was hot, fresh, and delicious; the service was friendly, and helpful. Now I know why it was so highly recommended. This restaurant has been featured of a couple Food Network shows as well. I would highly recommend getting brunch here.
HeadCovered in Christ
First time trying this restaurant and should not have ordered the crazy french toast dish. Waay over the top; trying to impress and wow without success. I would have preferred a normal size sliced bread prepared to perfection. What I got was all crust, drowning in melted whipped cream and stuffed with something not memorable; couldn't finish it. $14.99 is what I do recall. Not sure if I would rush to return.
Stephann Ibrahim
My siblings and I took my mother here the day before mother's day for brunch. Absolutely loved the food and also their local ocean city tea selection. The waiter was wonderful and he made sure that my nephew who has a food allergy to peanuts was not served anything but related. Thank you guys for a great time and friendly athmosphere. The portions of food were perfect and definitely worth it! Also the fruits and veggies that were served were fresh. Thanks again.
Laura Clark (Dragoness)
So the wait was long, but worth it! The staff is exceptional!! We mentioned food allergies, the server took note and then a manager came back to address the table and make sure everything would be handled safely! Fantastic. The food itself was absolutely wonderful, I had salmon with lump crab, hollandaise sauce and bacon grits, all mouthwateringly perfect. We had bananna chocolate monkey bread for the table and it too was phenomenal. Everyone loved their food and left happy and full.
Pure D
It was my first time here, and I was so impressed. The presentation was astounding, and the waitstaff were very polite/helpful. I would love to visit again, and we definitely showed up before the big crowds.
We had the Chicken and Waffle platter with the Coffee cake French toast stuffed with cheesecake.
Kei P
Never disappointed! The fall seasonal menu has some excellent additions. Servers are friendly, great place for family and gourmet breakfast/brunch. Crab dip fried deviled eggs, apple cheesecake stuffed french toast, stoney grits & bacon = EXCELLENT
nicole didonato
The best breakfast place ever!! The food is always good ..they have traditional breakfast foods and then they have original breakfast foods that you won't find too many places if any ..prices are on the higher end of breakfast ..so anywhere from about $12-$20 but the portions and quality of food is equal to what u are paying. They are a breakfast/brunch place so only open til 3 ..I've never had anything but breakfast so can't comment the brunch/lunch foods but can assume they are amazing as well!
Fiona Mosley
Immediately after sitting down I was asked if I’d like a cocktail and I was sold on this place! Yes to breakfast cocktails! This was devotedly such a unique menu with tons of interesting menu combinations. The monthly specials were amazing as well. The portions were generous and the service was pleasant. Also, the local hot sauce was amazing!
mark isaguirre
Hash House a Go Go is the much better goodies. The portions here a small and the fried chicken was not that flavorful. However, the cinnamon Danish pancake was the best.

My first visit to Miss Shirley's!
-Great servers/hosts.
-Quick service.
-Great food!
My mimosa wasn't as visually appealing as I anticipated and it just tasted alright. Like hard apple cider, really.
The shrimp and grits were tasty!
It was my first time trying fried green tomatoes.
I never have to have them again! They were okay, the outside coating is sweet but the tomatoes themselves are hardto even cut through! They're just unripened tomatoes.
Overall great experience!
tom e
We love this spot. Everyone is very friendly, wait staff is awesome and the food is exceptional. Never had a bad experience here. Wish they would bring back the hot brown.
Katharine Linke
Loved my stop at Miss Shirley’s! The menu is overwhelming but our server Aaron was really helpful narrowing down our choices. I really wanted their famous coconut cream filled French toast but opted for the smaller but still delicious cinnamon danish pancakes (short stack). Everyone around us was having chicken and waffles which also looked amazing. I was there on a Monday morning around 11a and the place was full although we didn’t have to wait. I can only imagine what it’s like on a weekend!
Lobo X
It was a very nice overall initial experience, due in no small part to our very service-oriented and professional waiter. In addition to his general attentive and polite service, the waiter accommodated us with alternative seating to the initial seating given us by the hostess, which was completely contrary to our request, which was a major factor in our ability to enjoy our meals. The food was all well prepared and exceeded our expectations.
Lydia Flowers
Went with a group for brunch. Good food, good drinks, good prices. I can definitely see why they've earned so many awards.
Shaggy5150 K
The fried chicken, biscuits and gravy omelette was decadent and delicious.
lindsey baptiste
Cute little spot... food was great... drinks had a surprising kick to them. Good portions an affordable food. Great brunch spot
Ana Caroline Paiva Gandara
It's normally crowd so you need to wait but it worths it. The service, food and place are really good. Bottomless coffee is always a nice idea. I recommend the coconut French toasts, the strawberry lemonade and the burgers and omelettes. Yes it's pricey but it's always delicious and never regret.
mike bucchi
Service was good but one item had to be asked for twice. Chicken and waffles good but chicken was over cooked. Muffins were just right.
Tyrell Layton
So my food wasn't really good at all but the customer service overrides the food. I'll give the customer service a 6,very pleasant and attentive to your needs
Lee F.
I was at the one on Roland Park.
The food was fantastic, gigantic portions, clean and the service was very good overall. My only issue is that it took them 15 minutes to greet us once we sat down.
Also, this place has excellent COVID adaptions. The outdoor tables were truly 6 feet apart, and all the staff had gloves and masks on the entire time. They also changed how they give you silver ware to adapt to COVID. I was very impressed and this is the most aware restaurant I've seen.
My photo is the chicken and corn chowder skillet and the banana chocolate chip donuts. So good!
B Davis
Wow! Food is Amazing. I want to eat everything on the menu but can't. Just wish they had one in DC
Abigail Buzzelli
Amazing crab eggs Benedict, loved the organic coffee, and the service was mindful. We were in a hurry at a rush time and the waitress got our order in a timely manner and helped us stay on time without us feeling rushed. Did I mention that the food was amazing?
T. Carter
So this was my first time being able to enjoy a meal here after hearing about the great food. As you can see I'm a southern man with my ketchup eggs. Okay so I ordered the cinnamon raisin french toast w/strawberries and cream applewood smoked bacon. These were by far the best and largest french toast I've ever eaten. The service was amazing because we had a party of twenty two and everyone was well taken care of. Miss Shirley's Cafe is a great selection and would definitely go back!!!!!!
Julie Cherny
Delicious! It’s well worth the wait. Definitely check them out. The chicken and waffles are to die for. I took my husband there for his birthday brunch and they treated him like he was special and that was very much appreciated. The staff went above and beyond.
Bill Koch
Good breakfast food, but high prices for what you get. It's unique b/c it's nestled in Roland Park, where you are not likely to find a great diner.
Update: Both the Roland Park and Inner Harbor locations do not disappoint. Great breakfast food!
Van Furrow
Awesome food at Miss Shirley's! The Everything But The Bagel Cream Cheese Biscuits pictured are stellar! I posted a picture of the Funky Monkey Bread, as so you can see how large the tasty dish is! The final picture is the Amy's Favorite Bagel and a side of bacon. 5/5 would recommend!
HILARY CAMPBELL
A tasty variety of different sections on the menu, a neat little eat-in venue Great ambiance One of Baltimore’s top cafes. Street parking is limited but totally worth it to visit. Drop in. Your palate will thank you.
Wendy Blackwell
COVID has kept us all so far apart and Miss Shirley’s is bringing us back together again! Finding a parking space was hard, but I didn’t really think that was an issue. I was so happy to see families and friends out and about that it didn’t matter.
Was the food good? Yes indeed. Shrimp and grits and fried green tomatoes, chicken and waffles, and amazing Sammie’s! We had it all. The coffee was hot & good and the company excellent! The service was generous — thank you Bill, I know that we were a crazy group.
Get your peeps & go to brunch.
elle mcnamee
food was AMAZING, restaurant is so cute, service was fantastic!! our server was esti and she was so helpful and sweet! would definitely recommend.
Tiana M
Food was very good. The EVERYTHING BUT THE BAGEL biscuits with the herb cream cheese and fresh jam are to die for. SHRIMP AND GRITS -very good with the fried green tomatoes really gave it a burst of flavor. FRIED CHICKEN, BISCUITS & GRAVY- The smothered biscuits on top were very good and seasoned well. Only issue is the fried chicken came inside the omelet, I would have preferred the fried chicken on top of the egg so the crispy skin did not become soft. STREET CORN DEVILED EGGS we did not like it was to much going on and somehow had no flavor.
Pat K
Went for Mothers day a week late. It was very crowded, yet they seated our party quickly. The menu had so many items that I wanted to try. I split a order of fried green tomatoes. They were very good; they used cornmeal for the crust. The picture is of stuff coconut French toast. I was only able to eat half of it and took home the other half. It was delicious! Parking is a challenge, wheelchair accessible, in & out doorseating and diet restrictions are respected.
Nea S
This was my first time visiting Miss Shirley’s on a Saturday morning. When you walk in it has a sort of family feel to the environment. I was greeted at the front desk and seated immediately no wait at all. Our original table was a little small for my liking so we sat at a table to our left. Erica introduced herself as our waitress very pleasantly. I asked her recommendations and she gave them to me with pleasant ease. She suggested the apple cider mimosas which was a great choice! Amazing. It had a nice fall feel to it. I chose the buffalo shrimp deviled eggs for my appetizer. As we sipped on the mimosas Erica continuously asked if we were ok and how our food was.
We chose to order Amy’s Bayou omelet and garden omelet for entrees. Wonderful experience and Erica was great! We shall return!
Aaron Brodsky
One of if not the best brunch spot in Baltimore. Everything is great. Highly recommend the shrimp and grits, chicken and waffles, and monkey bread.
Claire Tseng
The food is amazing and the portion is HUGE awesome place to have brunch
Sami Kabir & Islamic Finance
The food is absolutely yummy. We loved the small salmon breakfast but super pricey at $27!
The coconut cream filled waffle was a hit!
Our Bill was about $160. The waiter changed her attitude 360 degrees with 20% tip!
She was expecting 30% or more since the bill had options from min 20% to 40%
Katie Shaffer
Miss Shirley's never disappoints. The food is fabulous and the wait staff is always attentive. Be prepared to pay a premium, but it is absolutely worth it.
Try the fried deviled eggs!
Richard Lim
This is probably the best place I been to for southern style chicken. I would come back just for this again. Drinks were great as well. especially their bloody Mary. amazing. The interior is very uplifting. waits can be long but it was worth it. Trust me and get their chicken.
Stef
Had brunch here on a weekday and enjoyed my experience. Beware - their portions are huge! Shared the coconut cream stuffed French toast and it was delicious. Easy to find street parking nearby, they have a nice outdoor seating area as well. Definitely recommend this place for breakfast or brunch
Chantel Edwards
The food was amazing! My first time having savory waffles; they were delicious and paired well with the fried chicken. The Apple cider mimosa was also really good. My server (Gabby) was super sweet. Overall really good first time.
Krystal Tomlin
Great vibe and the servers were very nice. Besides the fact that the food was great. I recommend their fried devil eggs. They also have two parking lots. One behind the building and another across the street!
Sakinah Washington
The food was good but the menu is really not kid friendly our server was wonderful they need to had more food for Muslim’s thanks anyway 🍽🍽🍽💜💜💜 …
Anna
Food was great! A little $$$ for brunch, but really tasty and very good service! I had the Cobb salad w salmon, it was excellent!
Bill Purcell
This was my 1st visit to this well known place at the recommendation of family in the area. I was amazed at the variety of the menu and really pleased with my selection of French toast with a side of grits. We had 2 young children with us and they were able to get food that suited them also. I was able to park right in front of the restaurant but did have to pay a meter. There is free parking nearby and behind the restaurant also. Was seated immediately and got great service the whole time. This is an amazing place with an amazing menu that everyone should try. I did not have a drink but the cocktail menu is also amazing.
Corrine Darden
Get your Grits On with extra shrimp was and always amazing. My favorite meal🥰 Customer service is always on point. COVID protocol in place. Indoor and outdoor dining available. Highly recommended.
Aqsaa Chaudhry
The cafe is cozy but also large enough to accommodate groups. I had brunch with some friends and we really enjoyed their offerings. I highly recommend the chicken and waffles. The cheddar waffles were a unique twist in this classic southern dish.
Robin Brown
First time, will visit again. Had the “Get it on grits with salmon. Delicious meal
Bridget Hamilton
Not our first visit, but those pineapple pancakes were delicious and worth another visit very soon.
Sade Dunnock
This shrimp and grits are my favorite. This time I tried the cherry and goat cheese biscuits with cherry vanilla butter and they were soo good.
Mikia Heard (Meek2442)
The food, interior design and servers are great. This is a place where you will keep coming back just to see how the chef makes the meal. My favorite was the mint tea and seasoned biscuits. Other than the food, you will be impressed with the crowd if you are a people watcher. Expect to see a young adult crowd mixed with a balance of influence since this location is near Loyola.
Robert Ross
This place lived up to the hype! Man I cannot rave enough about the food, it was delicious! Had a definite southern/mid-Atlantic style, plenty of crab options. The specials were also insane with pancakes covered in pulled pork and fried pickle. Don't eat a lot prior to coming - portions are great size.
ITSNAHLAD
overall, i love eating here!!! The customer service is the best ever. I love Troi’s customer service, she has never disappointed!
Harland Abraham
Great food and environment. Celebrated my sister's birthday and our sever Chris noticed the birthday cards so when her pancakes arrived the had a single lit candle. That was very nice. We had a great time.
Nikita Spencer
The shrimp and grits was excellent! I ordered extra corn reduction mmmm! The French toast was so good too. I highly recommend it. I try to come whenever I'm I. Baltimore.
C. Nkombengnondo
Great food. Great service. Prices are a little more on the expensive side I will say, but it’s definitely worth it. I’d just recommend calling ahead because they are always busy due to there amazing food and small space. Great place to go on Mother’s Day, Birthday or even a date.
UnCommon Scentz
The wait was a little long and when the food came it wasn’t hot. It was good while being Luke warm so there’s that.
Gary Clark
First time DoorDashing from Miss Shirley Cafe. Service was fast. Food smelled enticing on the way to the customer.
Bruce C
The food was very good. But I feel this place is a bit expensive for what you're getting. I had an omelette, with hash browns and a biscuit for $15. Yeah, a tad expensive. The service was a bit slow, but then we were a party of 9, so I'll not hold that against them.
marianne sarcich
We stumble upon this incredible gem in Baltimore by accident. And it was like the universe sending us to a culinary haven. Cannot recommend this enough. From the food to the service everything was outstanding.
Jerlyn Buster
What a wonderful meal! Parking may be a challenge, but it is so worth it. We went to Ms. Shirley's on Cold Spring Lane for Sunday breakfast. We both loved our meal. I enjoyed one of the morning cocktails, the Winter Bourbon Smash which was perfect. I had the Bayou Omelet with shrimp and sausage, my friend had the Nova Scotia Omelet with smoked salmon. Everything was delicious! Ms Shirley's could has become one of my top 5 places to eat.
Michael Gallagher
Awesome experience. Great food and service. Our server, Claire, was top notch!
Trice G.
Exceptional service every single visit! Food is always hot and delicious.
Johanna Perez
Looking for an allergy friendly place? This restaurant asks immediately upon sitting if anyone in your party has dietary restrictions. My dd has pn/tn and sesame food allergies and was safely at there and the food was yummy!
Pastor David Mackey
Amazing food and Service. The Shrimp and Grits are phenomenal and the fresh fruit pancakes WOW!!!
mike
My wife as md I took our niece and her boyfriend there for breakfast. Our server, Kay, was super! She was really on it. The food was delish and the old town Baltimore atmosphere was perfect! It's definitely worth the trip.

Alesha Brembery

Tori McClary
The presentation is always phenomenal. I enjoyed the twist on shrimp and grits. Although I never had fried green tomatoes it was definitely a treat. I loved it!
Darnell McGavock Sr.
Striving to be a high end 5 Star Breakfast dining experience.
The food is carefully prepared. Ingredients are fresh and delicious. The staff cater to your every want and need. They even handle post order changes with finesse.
They offer specials not listed on the menu. Such as the Omelet in my picture. The Bistro Beef Omelet, was a seasonal special, that only the waitress knew from memory. No written mention of it.
This Cafe is clearly trying to be a high end breakfast experience. But there are a few things missing, that keep it from reaching the top. The dining area is cramped with too many seats. So seating can become cramped at peak times. Also, due to the effort they have put into maximizing seats in the dining area, the tables are not very large. With the high volume of people in a small dining area, the environment is too loud. There is also no WiFi. Given some omelets cost near $20, everything matters.
This Cafe, needs better spaced seating. That will allow for larger tables and less noise. And a Cafe, should have WiFi in this technology age. For the expense, features of the local IHOP, should not be missing here.
If this were simply a coffee shop, the small seat and table area might be suitable. But when trying to enjoy a high end meal, more space is needed.
Make no mistake, you will have a great tasting meal, with fabulous service here. But there are environmental aspects, that need improvement. If you want a very high end breakfast, there are few choices. This place is suitable, but needs structural improvements.
Tiara Reayu
This place is definitely worth the hype. We had a huge party of 14 on a Sunday afternoon and we're still seated in about 30 mins. Every food item that I tasted was phenomenal!!
nickea Howard
I was very impressed. Fast Service and accurate 😉
Chris Gualano (Krisg87806)
Went with my wife and ggand daughter who is going to school nearby. A little pricey, but everything was awesome. We all enjoyed it there. We hope to stop there again next time we visit our grand daughter.
Jamilah Peterson
Food was great ! Customer service was on point. This was a great experience especially visiting out of state. Will go back my next trip to Maryland
Katie Fennell
Love love love Miss Shirley's! I've always gotten fast and friendly service and if you can't decide what to try, the staff are very knowledgeable and will gladly offer excellent suggestions. You can't go wrong with any of the breakfast items. I especially enjoy anything with fried green tomatoes.
Darcia Marie
The best brunch I have had in a long time. I ordered the fried chicken southern skillet. So much flavor in every last bite. This place can get a bit crowded. We waited 45 minutes but it was well worth the wait. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our waitor was awesome. He kept us content while waiting for our food. He made sure the coffee kept coming. For first time experience here, I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone. So many items to choose from. Very unique. Will be back again soon. They have another at inner harbor I hear but I've only been to this one so far. Awesome job guys! Thanks for wonderful experience!
Mark Battafarano
One of the best restaurants in the Baltimore area! The food selection is excellent and has options for even the pickiest taste palettes. Everything from drinks, apps, and main courses is of the highest quality. The service received here is some of the best in Maryland!
GWENDOLYN Davis
Oh my goodness the food was delicious
Our server "Joe" was fantastic! My first time here and I'm more than happy to return. I was visiting Baltimore from Capital Heights MD. Thank You Ms Shirley ❤️♥️❤️♥️
Troy T
Food was really good. Atmosphere and service as well. Unique menu options you won't find elsewhere.
Jen Lu
Baltimore must-have brunch! There is always a wait on the weekends (sometimes up to 40 min) and the prices are definitely high but its still worth trying. I really enjoy the bacon grits!.
Linda Schmidt
Always fun and delicious food. Loved the coconut cream french toast. And their coffee is the best. Friendly and attentive staff. One of my favorite places.
JB Davis
I had heard a lot about this place and I can't say itived up to all the hype. I was expecting a lot more pop from my chicken omelet with biscuits and gravy; like the fried green tomatoes and the Bloody Mary it was bland. The andulie sausage were the only spice in the whole meal. Not being one to send back an order over taste I just added salt pepper and hot sauce. Now, to their credit I believe it was the Manager that came out to make rounds and offered to get me something else however, I was past the halfway point in my meal. Speed and friendliness of service and presentation were top notch.
lin zhi
Love Miss Shirley sooo much. I tried Crab cake and fried green tomato. Every ingredient in the plate is so good, perfect poach egg with running yolk, balanced acidity and sweetness on green tomato, crab cake full of crab meat. And I also get a chicken waffle to go. My husband likes their food too. This restaurant is super busy when I was there. But they made the food as perfect as usual. Thumbs up for the person who does quality control in the kitchen.
Brandon Hurst
Busy busy busy on Sunday. But definitely worth the wait. i got the chicken and waffles and it was delicious! Nice and savory. I loved the jalapeno butter!
Mia Beats
I had shrimp and grits with a fried green tomato took me back to my childhood..My friend ordered the chicken and waffles..I tried that it was also very satisfying..

Dianne Houston-Crockett
The food and service are great. Even though we didn't like the iced green and black teas, they were brewed at the restaurant.
Renee Taliaferro
Food was magnificent! This place doesnt disappoint! Service was outstanding, diners were very friendly. Will definitely go there anytime im in town.
C A (Che)
This was the best breakfast I have ever had at a restaurant. This will be a “must go to” anytime I or someone I know comes to Maryland. I got the bayou omelet and pancakes and they were amazing. You also have some of the best and most savory grits I have ever had! The drinks were nice as well!!
Tracy Thorpe Scott
Food was very good. Our server, Chad was training and was very nice. His trainer Maya we could have done without.
Sketch Stone
Great food, relaxed atmosphere, friendly staff. I usually go here for the shrimp and grits, slaps everytime.
Chris Burks
Great place had to visit since it was on Guy's Triple D's. I was amaze by the food and friendliness of the staff and manager. I would recommend at least a visit.

Wonderful atmosphere, great service and delicious food
Jasmine Pridgen
The food was absolutely amazing. This was my first time going and I can't wait to go back. If you've never been, you're doing yourself a disservice.
david payne
Excellent service with delicious food. I ordered the Mainland Loco Moco Skillet. It was amazing. I would have liked a side dish with it, but very satisfying. I'm glad I came here.
Rich Ledson
Very friendly service and the portion sizes were good....... Might not have been my favorite breakfast place but it had decent food
Kelvin
Thats not exactly my taste, the biscuits are great, I do not recommend chicken here, no taste
Jill Basye-Featherston
I liked my omelet! The mixed fries were not that great. Kind of under cooked.

I did brunch with the kids on a recent visit. This place was just outstanding. the food was terrific and some of the creations were very unique, like the frech toast with a creamy cheese stuffing. It can get very busy, so expect to wait, but I always consider that a good sign. Service was top notch, coffee was god and hot and the restaurant was very clean. They even made a big deal about our special event. TOP NOTCH!
Maegan Hill
Great time.... Nice Atmosphere Food Was Amazing!!!
Vincent Smith
There are too many choices of things I'd love to eat. The food was delicious. The staff was excellent.
Dustin Jefferies
Man. What a great brunch spot. The food is always inventive, reflective of the area, but a little more pricey than your average neighborhood diner.
In my opinion, food is worth it! The many awards this place has received are well deserved.
beautifuljoe1313
Who thought oatmeal could be so good? I had the key lime pie oatmeal, and it tasted just like key lime pie, only healthier! It is more "soup-like" than your typical oatmeal, but don't let that stop you from trying it. Plus, I have to have a side of the cheese grits when I'm in Miss Shirley's. They are decadent.
Blerim Cukovic
Phenomenal!!
GO!
As my friend Arnold used to say "I'll be back"
This is the first place you go in Baltimore before your meeting, family gathering, etc.; you go here.
Scott “Road Worthy” Silverstine
All their reviews are spot on. Miss Shirley's Cafe is simply the best!!!
Connie Curran
Miss Shirley's is always a treat. The menu offers lots of possibilities. The choices are amazing! It's absolutely impossible to choose! This place gets a lot of hype but it totally lives up to it! Service is very friendly and professional. There is usually a wait but it is well worth it!! Omelets, French toast, chicken and waffles...all great.
Elizabeth Patterson
Wow. Just wow. Will absolutely be coming back! Fantastic food, great staff, beautiful outdoor seating
Kim Lawson
Great service and food. Very low contact with anything such as menus, money, other patrons, etc.
Greg Murray
The best Belgium Waffles I have ever had! Fantastic service. Nice atmosphere. Large selection on the menu. Moderately priced.
steven whitehead
It was my Birthday on Valentine's Day food was delicious all good service and food
Garland GalicaGraphics
Excellent service. Great food. Timely and welcoming environment
JaQuetta Tinson
This was a lovely place to eat. Personally, I was not in for the Southern style eating but my husband wanted to treat us. The stuffed coconut French toast was great for the 1st couple of Bites . Then it became too sweet. My husband enjoyed his Maryland crab omelet. You get an abundance of food for the price which you pay. The service out of 1 to 10 with 10 being the greatest I give it a 15 excellent service.
Alina Anchondo
The food was delicious, and the staff was attentive and fast. Overall, a superb experience!
Shaloynda Smith
Food, service were great. Mimosa was good, grits a little dry but I still ate them!
Randa Cox
Good food and great staff. Not a terrible wait.
337 House
The pulled pork sandwich and the grilled chicken blt were very good.
Stephanie Daniels
The food was pretty good. The waitress was awesome. She was very kind and friendly. The atmosphere was very comfortable. The menu selection was somewhat limited. However, the a la carte is available
Tracey N
I had a good experience while taking my two daughters out for breakfast. We were able to get a table outside which was great but with the outdoors, you also get what happens when you mix the outdoors and food...... flies! The food was great but I had to gobble it down so that none of my friends with shared space could land on it. To late for one of my daughters though, which incompleted her meal. It was a busy time of the morning (maybe around 9:30-10 on a Saturday). We were stayed quickly but our service was a little slow. I was pleased with the gluten free selections and the care they took with one of my daughters by assisting her that the food was cooked separately to minimize cross contamination. I will definitely visit again!
Vera Yancey
Miss Shirley's have the good Belgian waffles and chicken okay! Kudo's!
PAC
Great food and service. My quinoa salad was stale and tasted old, they offered something else and were very concerned about quality. I declined because I was already full, but appreciate the interest. And my shrimp omelette was delicious already, the house biscuit was yummy.
Lem Jones22
Chicken and cheddar green onion waffles were terrific and the BBQ deviled eggs were crazy good, my server Royce was nice.
bee Johnson
Amazing brunch. Get there early and try everything :) had my first bloody Mary! Pleasant experience. The eggs, grits, french toast, waffles, all favorites of mine.
Lillie'ann Smith
The atmosphere, food and drink was amazing
Frank Zayon
Great service and great food. Great place for brunch
Ronnie Moore
This was the best breakfast I have had at a sit-in restaurant, the vegan ansela's oatmeal (superb), stone ground grits (so buttery throughout) Belgium waffles, Healthy "hot mess" scrambled. #msshirleywhat'stherecipesecretgirl #WOW
Heather B
Loved the menu, it's peanut and nut free (yay!), Great staff. The restaurant doesn't feel crowded even when it's full. I sampled my daughter's food and felt the French toast was the best of the pancakes and waffles. JMO.
Janet Krejci
Delicious food, great service, a wonderful place to dine with friends & family. There is something for everyone whether carnivorous, vegan, or somewhere in between! The fried green tomatoes are the best I've had anywhere. They don't take reservations, but it's worth the wait.
David Smith
We always enjoy our meals, even though her bowl of greens, are bigger than mine.
Every time for some reason.
Theresa Beverly
I have always wanted to go here for brunch and yesterday I did. The wait time was not long, but the food and drinks were excellent! I will definitely be back as this location is close to home.
Jay Dub
Best breakfast in MD, DC & VA. Maryland Crab Omelette, Chicken & Jalapeno Waffles and Monkey Bread are my favorites!
Anissa Hunter
The staff is always friendly and the food is always fantastic! Blacken shrimp and grits on fried green tomatoes was a smash hit and those everything biscuits are awesome!
Katey H
We placed an order for pick up and although it was fairly busy inside, we got our food without any issues. The cinnamon danish pancakes were impressive- I was pleased with the “icing” not being overwhelmingly sweet. The fried chicken, biscuit and gravy omelette was delicious as well.
Shaun Cuff
I wanted to take the time to comment on Dominik's impeccable service on 4/25. I visited the bar in between flight to Albany. Dominik was so understanding of my frustrations with the airlines, and went out of her way to recommend a nice flavored beer and suggested a great meal to satisfy my needs. I witnessed her expertise with other customers. She was considerate, respectful, cooperative, and service oriented. Thank you for your service :)
Dawn R
New favorite brunch spot! Great food!
S M
So good! We haven't been here in a few years and to come back to the same great service and delishously fresh food is IMPRESSIVE!!! Tried new dishes this time and wasn't disappointed. My mom has new dietary restrictions and we usually go through so much menu substitutions at other restaurants but this wasn't the case at Shirley's because the menu has something for everyone. Won't be so long before our return this time ♡
Noam Elituv
Wonderful service. Delicious food. The pancakes were amazing!
Scott Hellerman
Before we toured Loyola we stopped here for breakfast. Not your typical breakfast place. The food was fantastic. The service was extraordinary. The atmosphere is chill. The coffee was the perfect strength. The hashbrowns were delicious. Even the sour dough toast was delish. I was very pleased with how spotless the entire Cafe appeared. Anyone we spoke to was nice. Overall cannot wait to get back
Valerie Coley
Lots of menu options. Additional parking across the street. A separate vegan menu. Good food!
Ariel Eakin
Excellent Service and Absolutely Amazing Food! The crab cake benedict was superb! Looking forward to my next visit.
R W
One of my favorite places to have brunch! The menu causes anxiety due to its array of great signature choices...what to do?!? So I select,Get Your Grits On every time. This dish of fried green tomatoes on top of creamy grits, topped with grilled shrimp never gets old for me. Delicious is an understatement. Most recently, my 2 brunch companions enjoyed a seafood omelette and coconut cream stuffed french toast, respectively. Their decreased chatter and unwillingness to share spoke volumes. I have frequented this particular location often and they never disappoint! If you haven't already, give them a try!
Bmore Shawty
First time at this establishment, good service, food was very fresh and PLENTIFUL! I had a wonderful experience here.
Ashli Yerby
Great Food And Even Better Service. We will definitely be returning.
Walt Nicholson
Good food and nice staff. The place seems to be consistently busy. Lots of breakfast / brunch options. Disappointed our plates arrived after a long spell under the heating lamps (the raspberry purée has baked into the plate) but everything tasted great.
Evie Tripolitis
Only gluten free and vegan pancakes around. Pretty good, don’t reheat well. Great drinks (I’ve had the bloody and lemonade.)
Kieonna Harris
The customer service was exceptional, however, the food was bland. Everything lacked seasoning from the omelettes to the hash. The manager was overly accommodating. I'm thinking they may need a new cook but because this was my first time visiting in years I'll give it one more try.
Shari Underhill
Food was good. Little crowded. Parking is very hard to find and you have to pay for it.
Jerin Philip
The chicken in my skillet was cooked perfectly. Great service from our waiter, too. You may have to hang out at the bagel shop across the street while your table is prepared, but Miss Shirley's is worth the wait!
nicole potts
The service and food were great. So much to choose from.
Rebecca Lee
The atmosphere was the wonderful, and the food was very good. Nice portions.
Autumn Canter
This is the place I choose to take company to every single time we have a visitor. We've never had a bad meal here. I usually purchase the friend green tomatoes sandwich with grits. They have excellent grits! Be aware that busy hours are very very busy. I like to go during the week for brunch and usually always get parking in the lot.
Deanna Clark
Perfect spot for sunday brunch with family o friends, but they close at 3pm so thats a downer for me. The food was pretty good, but we all wished they had an entree for breakfast that included the basics like pancakes, eggs and bacon etc without having to pay a la carte style.
Yasmin Clark
Had the chicken and waffles, gumbo, grits and ice cream all amazing..... had the banana pudding wasn't bad but was expecting more since everything else was exquisite!
Jane Nitsch
I had a Slammer sandwich. Egg, avocado, bacon and fried green tomatoes. Most delicious!
Brandon Holthaus
They have done so much to prepare for Covid and I haven’t felt safer in a restaurant than I had at Miss Shirleys.
Quinette Mahlow
From the time we walked in to Miss Shirleys til the time we left, it was nothing but a warm friendly atmosphere. The server was professional but yet friendly wanting all our needs met during our visit there. The food was exquisite to say the least. Oh, my, so delicious. We all got a different dish and each of the appetizers we got were so good including of course the fried tomatoes. We were greeted by management and other team members during our visit. The food was superb and the staff and ambience were exceptional. We most defiantly will be back. I wish you had a location close to Rehobeth Beach, Bethany Beach areas
jLine13
Our server Mary Katherine was great! Attentive and made sure everything came out great!
Jonathan Neal
This place is truly fantastic! The food was awesome, the service was awesome, and everything was just the best! I would have taken pictures, but the food was just too good. The place is clean, and the atmosphere is just as clean! Maybe ot was the time of day, but the music was at just the right volume, and the vibe was perfectly enhanced. My friend who brought me said that it wasn't normal for the food to come out that fast, but I would be remiss if I didn't say how fast everything came out! We didn't even have time to really think about what we had ordered. Our server was absolutely the best; he was attentive without being overbearing, and he was personable without being too much! All in all, the hype is well deserved and you would be crazy to at least try the place out.
Cecie Valleri
Definitely a place you need to try at least once. Fantastic breakfast and all around service!
Angela Dixon (Dimples)
Food was amazing. Place was a bit busy and crowded. Service was awesome
Tara Bennett
I enjoyed the meal, the wait time for seating wasn't too bad (25 mins).
Tiffany Marshall
Great customer service!! I wasn't a big fan of the fried chicken for the waffles, but the Maryland Omelet is sooooo good.
Jen
Yallllll,
That french toasttttttttttttt. Was thhhiiccckkkk! Ok.
I ate it all.
All was amazing.
Vijaya Subramanian
The service was good. The outdoor seating spaced correctly.
The pulled pork sandwich, fried green tomatoes and biscuits😋 were good.
I didn't like the fiesta skillet with chicken and egg over hash browns. Just a messy dish, mostly hash browns with some toppings. Not worth the price. …
Saeed Ghandili, MD
I wish they had graphic menu so you have an idea how the ingredients are going to be presented! I didn’t like mine although I liked the each stuff in it individually!
Matthew Price
Always amazing food. Can't go wrong with any menu items.
Arioan Davis
I ordered take out today at 12:38 and all I got to say is whoever is in the kitchen keep them & thank you!!!! Best chicken and waffles and hash browns are perfect
Robert Cardoni
The hype is real. One of the best restaurants in Baltimore. Great food. Great staff! The breakfast is good but don’t miss the lunch menu. The chicken sandwich and gumbo with grits are delicious
Rachel Lederman
Favorite favorite favorite restaurant! I'm allergic to some foods and they are super cognizant of allergies. Not only do the waiters/waitresses check on allergies but so does management. Besides that I've never had a bad meal there! The grits are awesome! If you're willing to spend a little bit of extra money go for Shirley's Affair with Oscar!!! Totally worth every penny
Rodney Scott
It's definitely a wonderful restaurant and the layout of the place was very nice.
BILL CARSON, SR
Ideal breakfast/brunch spot. Adventurous menu; excellent service.
Naveen Silva
Excellent breakfast/brunch place. Service was great (believe her name was Allyson). Our table got the chicken and waffles, eggs benedict with chorizo hash, one of the omlettes and the pineapple upside down pancakes. Really enjoyed each one of them, my only critique was that the hash browns were slightly underseasoned but overall still 5/5 and would highly recommend for friends or family.
Betsy Schow
Went for my birthday and while everyone is super nice, the food just wasn't what it used to be pre pandemic. My favorite dishes, like the 'po boy or crab benny, were gone so while the restaraunt is good, not special anymore. Closer to what you expect from Eggspectation
Kris Takasuka
Very yummy! The weather was perfect so we dined outside. Parking in the back and across the street.
Bill Fekete
Very lively restaurant with outstanding food. Service was good, not great. Food is expensive but you get what you pay for. Do not expect a diner. This place does not have a diner vibe. I liked going there but I have other places to try before I return.
Stephanie Artist
The staff was so friendly and the food was amazing. I was brought for my birthday and was able to enjoy breakfast despite having my own dietary restrictions. It was worth the hour drive.
Bill Sanford
Super nice staff, excellent food. The only negative to me was the portions being so large, but that's only a negative since I'm watching my weight and on the road, so I didn't want to take any with me and don't like wasting food. :)
I M
The food and the service was great. Parking little difficult but they do have spots in the rear of building. Devil egg were good and the chicken grits skillet was awesome
Sabrina Barnett
Amazing food, atmosphere, and customer service! Thanks Billy for being an awesome waiter!!!
Thomas Crossman
Add a little pizzaz to your breakfast. You can get a regular breakfast here also, but why not make it special? Food is tasty and staff is friendly and competent. Worth going a little further for your breakfast and bring along your friends!
Marc Waddell
OMG the breakfast is unbelievable! The coconut French toast was delightful and the southern slammer sandwich was the best breakfast sandwich I’ve ever had!!
Vonnie D
I always have a good experience here. Due to the pandemic, we knew the best time to come was during the week. Not crowded at all and we were seated immediately. I love their gluten free pancakes. It never disappoints😍🥞
Stacey Black
Food was delicious as usual. Service was great. We didn't have to wait too long for a table or for our good to come. Definitely going back. I would say the only issue with Miss. Shirley's is the parking. Get there early to get a space on the lot across the street or in front of the restaurant.
brino06
Excellent service and food. I had chocolate chip pancake which came in huge portion with 2 fried eggs on the side (perfectly cooked) and my friend had chicken and waffle which was her favorite.
Due to limited indoor seating, they don't take appointment but we were briskly seated when we came on rainy Friday at 10 am.
Our server, Brian was very attentive and he provided excellent service.
We'll be back!
marcus holcomb
Went there for breakfast, I must say I enjoyed the food. The food was seasoned and the service was nice. Only the I didn't like was that the service tried to make his own tip. Other than that not a long wait. If going go around 2pm, parking is available.
Gift Amata
Great time celebrating a friend's birthday. Everything was wonderful. We got a table outside in the front. We did have to wait for the table in the front as opposed to out back (immediate seating), but it was worth it.
Our table was in a shaded area at the very end of the building so we didn't have to worry about anyone to one side of us. We were not to close to the entrance so we didn't have a crowd to contend with either while they entered and exited the restaurant.
The food is always great. I ordered the monkey bread because my friend hadn't tried it before. My meal was 3 egg white omelet which was loaded with white cheddar, chobza sausage, onion, shrimp and tomato served with grits or mixed greens or hashbrowns and an everything biscuit. I should have gotten the mixed greens to start, but I decide to order like it was my birthday too so I got upside-down pineapple pancakes too. Of course there were to go boxes. My friend only order pancakes and coffee. The monkey bread came out with a candle and I sang. My efforts were appreciated.
Druiben “Druiben” Druiben
Miss Shirley's is usually consistent in offering excellent customer service and tasty food. While the customer service was as expected, the Healthy "Hot mess" was a miss. (There were pieces of other dishes mixed in, an egg shell and something extremely spicy all of a sudden in one spot.) Resolution: I was brought an entirely new dish to enjoy. (Made up for the last one) , but this overall experience still gets 3 stars.
Nicole Kathryn
Plate of gluten free pancakes (no sides), plate of mini waffles with blueberries (no sides), one apple juice, one coffee that was never refilled, $40. Food was tasty but not worth the price. Atmosphere was lacking in the sterile seeming side room we were seated in.
A K
Decent location. Food was great. Nice special event.
Madison Gensurowsky
Food delicious and service was excellent! Did not have to wait for a table despite coming at peak breakfast time.
Amanda Nill
Wonderful service and amazing food options. Highly recommend! Best to arrive before 10am on the weekends but it's worth the wait.
john barrier
Staff was friendly restrooms were clean. The food was excellent.
Kathryn Boykin
We both had the pork and Mac n cheese skillet. I would recommend to anyone who loves BBQ pork Mac and cheese and cornbread. Food was good service was slow, sat there for maybe 15 mins before anyone took our drink order.
Mskiki Peace
Good and service were great. #covid precautions were AWESOME!!!!
25th birthday brunch for my daughter.
Robert Barnes
High dollar! But well worth it! Very rich tasting food! Wait staff was great!
Laura McNutt
Perfect! I loved everything about my visit to Miss Shirley's! I love when the servers ask if you have allergies, even though I don't, and little things like that. The esthetic is modern but comfortable. The menu options are diverse enough for different palates, yet they obviously know what they are good at. I had the shrimp and grits, a favorite dish of mine, so I couldn't resist since it has fried green tomatoes in it. Perfection! Every texture, every flavor combination, spot on. I wish I could give Miss Shirley's more than five stars. I will definitely be back next time I'm in town!
Kara Winstead
Great food, short wait time.
Suntrice Duckett
The food was good but not what I expected from the name. The service was absolutely great!!! I'm a Southern person & I expected Southern style cooking. But it was good without a doubt.
Jay Rodriguez
Great service, ample portions. Would gladly go to again :)
Zohra Ahmed
Great breakfast place, the hash browns are fantastic 🥔 …
Byrd Taylor
Troi was a great hostess! Very attentive, friendly, and professional!! Gabby was a great waitress! Friendly, professional and attentive as well!! Gabby Interacted and converse with my boyfriend and I about pancakes. The food was amazing and came quickly! The chicken and waffles were great! The cocktails were bomb as well. We will back!!
Luke Getto
Friendly staff, great food selection is an understatement. The cocktails are delicious. This place is over the top amazing.
Alisha Mills (Yuk yuk)
Great food and service. Pricey. I think it's because we were overcharged for our Virgin drinks.
Rodnett Harris
Had breakfast before my flight home and I was very impressed with the restaurant and staff. Joe was wonderful! The Omega-3 Avocado dish was delicious. Plan to visit again soon!
Patricia Crews
Today I experienced the pleasure of eating Brunch at Miss Shirley's in Annapolis. The omelet, blueberry pancakes, and strawberry lemonade were superb in quality, appearance and taste. Our waitress, as busy as she was, interacted with us in a calm and pleasant manner. I was however disappointed in the biscuits, and the fried chicken strips.
.
Pritham Raj
Wonderful lunch/brunch spot close to the Johns Hopkins campus - an ideal spot for parents to take hungry college students during visits. Excellent service to boot!
Deborah Braughler
This place was as good as all the hype. The shrimp and grits ranked as some of the best ever and I'm a shrimp and grits fan.
All the other food served that day was fresh, plentiful and yummy!!! Will be back when in the area
Laura Colvin
Emma was our waitress and she was fantastic! It was our first time there and she made fantastic recommendations and answered all of our questions with detail. She was very pleasant and made our experience fantastic. The food was amazing. We shared the fried green tomatoes and chicken and waffles.... They were amazing. I highly recommend to anyone visiting Baltimore! You are missing out if you don't check it out!! Thank you Emma for being great and making our experience awesome!!
Audrey Link
I have had breakfast here 3 times. The food is fresh. There is a nice variety of items on the menu.
The prices are not outrageous. For two people our bill was about $40.
The service was good. Attentive but not to the point that it constantly interrupts your meal and conversation.
It is nice that they ask you, before taking your order, if you have any food allergies that they need to be aware of.
The food is not outstanding enough to become one of my regular weekend spots, but it is definitely worth a try if you have never been there.
Jack Hill
Food was great. I got the pulled pork and pimento cheese sandwich - sounds odd, but oddly works. A lot of their menu is catered to a more "complex" palate. They throw in some twists to old favorites.
Victor Torres
My first time at this location and I was not disappointed whatsoever: Great friendly and professional staff - they asked if I had ANY food allergies and if cross contamination would be an issue for me which I have NEVER been asked before at an restaurant; I was very impressed by that alone. Food was fresh, tasty and delicious with some unique menu items. And, which is essential during this unprecedented coronavirus situation, the place (including the bathroom) was spotless/very clean. DEFINITELY returning in the near future!
Candy Robinson
The food was Delicious! The servers were on point and I told them about my food allergy and they were understanding! I'm definitely going again!!
Rhesa M
Always great..shrimp and grits no pork my fav
Dan Hetrick
Felt like we were being welcomed by our friends despite our being our first time there. Claire was an amazing, attentive server with great suggestions. Looking forward to returning again soon.
Calvin tinson
The Maryland omelette was awesome!!!!! I truly enjoyed the grits and the fruit medley everything was fresh and delicious . I treat myself to miss Shirley’s once a year I may come back on my birthday.
Tiffany M
Wonderful brunch a tad expensive for family dining. A La Cart menu so most things are charges separately... Great Margaritas!
Tyrone Cowan
Awesome brunch spot with great service #1 in the city!
Matthew Mendrygal
Everything they do here is 5 stars. Food is incredible.
Also, they offer a significant offering of gluten free options, which as someone who needs this, I always appreciate as it makes everything a step or two harder but they still come through.
It’s hard to believe the hype a lot of times but this place exceeded my expectations.
Melanie S
I ordered chicken and Waffles. I was a bit disappointed in the food. The butter and waffle mix and cheese was a bit too much. Too many tastes going on at the same time. The chicken tasted great. The service was good, hence the 4 stars. Next time I'll just get the plain Waffles.
Sydney Shea
Went here for the first time this afternoon for brunch. Had a fantastic experience. All of the staff was cheery and delightful. The service was great. The menu is full of options.
I got the mixed berry sampler waffles (4 minis) and they were excellent. Too often do breakfast spots offer "fancy waffles/pancakes" for $10+ & they come up very short. This was absolutely not the case at Mrs. Shirley's. They were unique & flavorful. Hashbrowns & bacon were phenomenal too.
I would definitely recommend this spot!
Can't wait to return!
Robert Egore Byrd
Portions were huge well worth the money. Great food and hot. 👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿
Carla Kooij
I LOVE Miss Shirleys! They have such a creative menu. Some of their house specialties are: Get Your Grits On with either blackened shrimp or salmon and green fried tomatoes, or Coconut Cream Stuffed French Toast with Diced Strawberries and Bruleed Bananas, or Sunrise Benedict, all kinds of sandwiches, salads, cocktails, griddle cakes, and omelets.
Our waiter was right on time for our order as soon as we put our menus down, and he was very personable. It was my birthday so I was pleased the service was excellent, compared to the night before at Tark's Grill and Bar, where there was long waiting periods for service.
You will have a great time here, for sure!!
KHAMEISA Smith
The Food was great! The service was not! I came here for the first time today with a group of people. All of our food was brought out at different times…our waiter was nowhere to be found til towards the end of our meal for refills. And they were not understaffed.
Rachel Osborne
We had Roy as our server and he was so fantastic! Gave us great recommendations of things to do around the area while we were in town. All of our food was delicious! When we’re back in Maryland next summer we will be sure to come back!
Nodella Jordan
I love this place. My team has reservations for tomorrow. I had, for the first time, cream of crab soup and I loved it. Looking forward to my visit. Pictures to come. Miss Shirley's have definitely become a favorite place to visit for me. Sometimes the weight can be a bit long but it is worth it. They do rotate some of their menu items which is awesome for those who love trying new things. Our servers are always Pleasant and attentive to our needs. Even though people complain about the wait in my personal opinion it's a great thing when you have customers waiting for your service. I've never heard anyone complain about the food quality.
Jay 90D
Shrimp n Grits followed by two cinnamon sugar waffles. Top Notch
Sophie
We have been eating here for years and we love it! Food and service are both incredible! A little pricey, but SO worth it. Delicious and inventive cocktails, as well. I highly recommend Miss Shirley's. Money well spent! Ask about the monthly specials, which are always over-the-top and fun to hear.
Anny W.
OMG!!! Everything was so delicious! The grits w/ bacon bits, the chicken & Waffles w/ green onions, so good. Definitely recommend. It is recommended to go early, like we did, because the line to get in gets long.
Chris Frederick
Went to breakfast this morning and the food was very fine. The service was lacking and the bill was $70 for 2 people. I left a nice tip because I would never stiff a server. The entire service industry needs to leave the mask regulations behind I’m sick of paying my hard earned dollars and not feeling like I’m welcomed and that I am getting good service for my money when I go to a restaurant. The corona virus does not exist more heavily in a restaurant in Baltimore city than it does outside of city limits. No place else in America is continuing with the masks why is it that I took time out of my day to drive down there and spend some money and get bothered with this as soon as I walk through the door? Get with the program!! Bring the bill and cash the diners out at the table. Provide menus for people when they come in. Earn your paychecks.
Jonathan Collins
It's my 24th anniversary, so we were lazy this morning and wanted a great breakfast. We were not disappointed. Our waiter, Malik, was great. Quick, attentive without hovering. The food cam quick and correct and was well done all around.
Kathy Keys Osborn
We celebrated my husband’s birthday, instead of with a traditional dinner out, with brunch out this year! We thought we’d sit outside when we arrived and were a little surprised to be ushered inside (pandemic & all) but we had what amounted to a private room. Brian & the rest of the staff were welcoming, masked, and thoughtful about protocols (menus were read on our own phones) And the food...well, it was delicious! The chicken & waffles, a family favorite, was fantastic, and I could live on the wonderful, creamy grits! My husband & I, and our 3 teens, thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and we all needed post-brunch naps! Sorry we waited so long to visit Miss Shirley’s, but we’ll definitely be back!
R. “Robeeno” L.
Service was great as usual. However, the pancakes ARE NOT GOOD! I am a Pancake CONNOISSEUR which means I Love Pancakes. The pancakes are stiff and no fluff. The syrup is delicious but it doesn't help.
The waffles are delicious ☺️. Please figure out the recipe for pancakes 🥞😟
Janessa Wilkins
My pancakes were good. Service was a little slow though and some of my coworkers said their food was bland
Jack “EL BIRD” E
The GOAT for breakfast. There's no one better, not even close. I did try their BWI location and was severely disappointed, but that's only because how great their OG location is EVERY DAMN TIME! I'll make the 30 minute drive just to come here any time I can. Highly suggest everything but the bagel biscuits and southern slammer sandwich among many greats!
Nicky Manonse
Love the food and atmosphere here. Only go to Miss Shirleys.
Patrick Hunter
A good friend took me here today. I was very pleased with the experience. The venue looks deceptively small from the outside. The interior is rather spacious and the food and service were excellent. I most definitely plan on returning to this location or perhaps the one in Annapolis.
Richard Knight
Great environment for an early afternoon breakfast. The menu displayed several enticing choices. The server was professional and courteous. I left the Cafe very satisfied.
Derrick Lewis
The food and service was excellent! It's amazing how fast the food came out considering the restaurant was crowded.
Steve Little
The food was INCREDIBLE and the Atmosphere is very laid back and casual. Service was pretty quick also.
Arlene Rivers
Amazing food and amazing staff! I need to meet Ms. Shirley.
Brad K.
What can be said that hasn't already been talked about? Best breakfast anywhere!
Brian McCreary
It was amazing! I like to go to restaurants Guy Fieri visited and try those dishes when visiting these cities. I got the cream cheese and coconut stuffed French Toast and it was delicious. Also got fried green tomatoes, just because I like them and they were great as well 😋. …
Jayesh Jariwala
Great spot for brunch on Saturday morning. They had no issues for a table of eight at 9am, which was nice. Server was very attentive and never let a coffee cup go empty. Good safety and cleaning protocols in place.
Amanda Toohey
There simply aren't words that accurately describe how delicious Miss Shirley's food is. I went with the chicken and waffles during my most recent visit, and it was perfection.

The food was very good. Two things would have made it awesome: 1)the chicken to have had some sort of seasoning (I ate it with the gravy (country skillet) to capture a flavor) and the strawberry lemonade to taste like strawberry and not mango. Also, although everything is opening back I believe waiters shld wear a mask to make ppl comfortable since they breathe and talk over your food...

Everything was absolutely delicious....very good service

Our favorite breakfast spot in Baltimore! Our server was fast and friendly and we didn’t have to wait long for our food. Highly recommend trying the southern slammer sandwich and chicken and green onion waffles!

It's a fine place with good food which used to come in such amounts that I doubt more than 50% of diners could actually clean their plates. After being open for 10+ years, a bit of the bloom is off the rose. Quality still seems to be there, service is excellent and ingredients still seem high-quality. Crowds are smaller as we were able to get a table without waiting. I like the imaginative menu which tends to make breakfast into culinary art. Miss Shirley's is now a Baltimore institution, a very supportable one.

1st times I've found an out door eatery with amazing breakfast a lil on the pricey side but the taste of the food was worth it 3 french toast eggs and a sausage bill was $38.95 so ion know if I'm going back

Went for my birthday July 1st and as always the food and service at Ms Shirley's on Coldspring was great.

Had a great bunch in their outdoor seating area. Danielle was great! We were on a bit of a time crunch to make it to the airport after brunch, and she got everything to us super quick to make sure we weren't late!
The "Everything But the Bagel Cream Cheese Biscuits" were awesome, and so was everything else. Definitely give this place a try!!!

I ordered online, everything was fine. When I got home and opened the bag, there was no drink in there even though my order said that there should’ve been a drink. The crab soup tasted too sweet. And I didn’t expect the Belgian waffles to be really small. Other than that, the rest of our order was great!

Love this place! They close early everyday around 3pm so it stays packed with people all day. I wish they did dinner too. Everything on the menu tastes good in my opinion. The cornbread and Stone grits are awesome. Waffles too! The smoked salmon bagel was just okay. Good but okay. The Baltimore slider trio was good. Their version of shrimp and grits is good but it comes with fried green tomatoes which makes up most of the meal... Great sweet tea... It's an excellent brunch spot. Just be prepared to wait. Great, friendly wait staff but again it can't get super busy so they do their best

Not a long wait and food was very good 😋

I had heard such great things about this place and was pretty disappointed. I’m not sure if it was just an off day for the waiter and cooks, but the food came to me cold and wasn’t that tasty. I asked for a water the first time the waiter came around and literally did not get it until after I finished my meal. The side that came with my order didn’t come until halfway through my meal. The same happened to the person I was eating with.
I got the fried chicken omelette, as was recommended by the waiter. The biscuit and gravy is a different flavor than normal but not bad.
Overall an OK experience. I would not recommend and I would not come again.

The food was ok, service was very good.

Everything was so delicious I forgot to take photos before we dug in! Miss Shirley's plays with flavor combinations in a delightful way. Portions are huge for the most part, so it's a great place to share dishes.
I went for brunch on a Sunday morning, and it was quite busy, but the staff manage the crowd well. Our server was perfect, attentive without being obtrusive.
I can't wait to go again!

Beautiful atmosphere, comfortable, and great food and drinks! Our server was hospitable and charming. A colleague and I went for 9:30AM breakfast on a Sunday and there was no wait. There is parking along the road and additional spaces in the back.
Such a great and accommodating place that we lost track of time and stayed until 4pm... Worth every penny. I will definitely be coming back

Absolutely amazing! The grits are not just delicious, they are a life altering experience!

The dining experience was nice. But I do think it was a little pricey. Friendly staff the food was tasty 😋

Great service and a great meal! Had the new bbq cornbread waffle stack and it was absolutely delicious. The chicken corn chowder and hot tots were also fantastic. The sweet tea is incomparable. Get there early to avoid a well-deserved wait!

I could not be more happy with my first experience ever at the restaurant. James, our server, made the experience even better. He was extremely attentive to our needs, very knowledgeable of the menu and was willing to give great suggestions. He double and triple checked to make sure we had no food allergies. The food came out nice and hot and the portion sizes were perfect for our stomachs. This opportunity to visit one the places I saw on Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives could not have been better. It exceeded my expectations beyond my wildest dreams.

Loved the restaurant. They had little magic boards, crayons and kids menus with games and coloring page for the kids. The kids meals came in a tray with different compartments for each food and my kids loved it. I had the avocado toast which was delicious but it is prepared cold and not possible to eat like a sandwich by hand. You would have to use a fork and a knife on that one. Their side Mac n cheese is also made cold, some people like that, it's just not my style. We also had the devilled eggs, they were deep fried which was interesting. In general the food the is very delicious but very heavy, it's easy to overeat. We liked the experience.

My wife and I took the family to this restaurant on a Sunday. She had heard many good things. There was was a decent wait, but there is a waiting area/room and seating outside. The menu was interesting and relatively diverse. I had monkey bread and fried "caddies" (potatoes and seafood) as appetizers, and both were good-very good I also ordered a fried chicken sandwich, which looked awesome. However, the sandwich was underseasoned, some hot sauce readily available on the table was a must and the roll was good. I did expect very good to great food based on the wait, it was good.

Amazing experience. One Shirley's speciality drink was just enough. Server was speedy and food was delicious. ...

Very friendly service, my fiancé and I were seated quickly (weekday mid morning) and the staff was caring and attentive. Our food was very good, but sides and appetizers seemed a little over priced- we ended up only getting entrees to keep the bill reasonable. The food was definitely delicious, but I seem to agree with other reviews in that I wouldn’t make this a regular spot- we actually had a hard time picking something off the menu. Regardless, i am glad to have experienced the much talked about Miss Shirley’s

I had the "Skinny Shirley" for a healthy plate of eggs and salad, BUT...I couldn't resist the banana pancakes with chocolate drizzle. Yum! Others in my party were just as pleased with their selections as I was with mine.

Had the apple cheesecake french toast, it was very good!! Everyone happy with their breakfast. It was weird to have the waitress there as I added the tip....food was great though...

Miss Shirley’s is definitely one of my go-tos for breakfast and brunch! Staff is always really organized and accommodating and the food is superb. The chicken and waffles are a must try

The food was absolutely delicious. The server Roy was pleasant and welcoming. He also suggested a few things he liked on the menu. The pancakes were delicious.

Great food, wish we lived in the area to come more often

Don’t believe the hype. I visited this Miss Shirley’s location on Saturday October 5th a little after 2pm. I ordered multiple different dishes with my family such as the Maryland omelet and the chicken strips and waffles along with the French toast. Our server took longer than expected to even great us but she was fairly nice. The chicken was a little dry and the omelet didn’t wow me, the waffles and French toast were decent. I really expected more especially since I had heard so much about Miss Shirley’s. The atmosphere was really nice though, I’ll probably be back just to try something else on the menu.

Wonderful Black American Southern cooking . The chicken and waffles 🧇 were the best I've ever had 😋 . Don't miss out on their grits which are cooked with small bits of bacon. Fabulous 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

Absolutely great tasting food, their French toasts are everything. Plenty of healthy options available too

I have gone to this location for years and have yet to find something that I don't like on the menu. My latest experience was attending a morning networking meeting where breakfast was served. I kept it simple this time by ordering 2 eggs over easy with an everything biscuit and coffee. Even this "simple" menu was superlative. The eggs were fresh, perfectly cooked, and flavorful. Whichever "evil genius" thought up the everything biscuit hit a home run. The biscuit combined with the eggs provided a gustatory high point. I'm not sure where they get their coffee, but each consecutive cup was pure liquid pleasure. Brian, our server was polite and attentive never allowing my cup to stay drained. Not to mention the attractive decor. Kudos, Miss Shirley ! You never fail to provide a quality dining experience.

I've visited Miss Shirley's twice in the past three weeks. One visit was about 11:30 a.m. on a weekday and the second visit was about 11:15 on a Saturday. The first time, Amy was my server and her suggested menu item was great. The second visit I ordered the salmon and grits...delicious! The Saturday visit was more hectic (expected!), but the wait still wasn't bad. I always enjoy when I go, and the servers and service are excellent.

Food was delicious. Waitress was dull. The fried green tomatoes are a must and the pancakes

No matter where I go or how old I get Sunday brunch will always ring special and Miss Shirley's is a large part of why that's true for me. Since I was a youngun coming with my mommom and my brother the food and atmosphere are always S tier. I can't recommend anything in particular cause you should fr try everything but the country skillet is extra extra 🙌🏾 if you're feeling indecisive

Hype, hype & more hype. The 3 stars is for pleasant staff and service. I went there precovid in 2018 and the food was also average, I took it as a pass that they had an off day. Forward to 2021 still average and bland tasting, waffles were soggy, they were falling apart and not holding, Wayyy overpriced menu. I'm not one to complain or make a scene I just won't be visiting ever again. I could have ate better at my local IHOP for 1/3 of the price.

I love Miss. Shirley's.
Great food and wonderful atmosphere!!!🍞🥞🍎🍗🥪 …

Bottom line: Miss Shirley's is a popular, local place with an excellent menu selection of unique dishes. However, because of it's popularity and open floor, it is noisy and food preparation can take a while (an hour on a Sunday afternoon). Recommend calling ahead to check for a wait and add your name to the list.
Okay, first the good stuff- The food here is fairly unique and from the selection at my table, it was a culinary home run. Yes, the food was very good. Hannah, our server was both friendly and personable- Also a good thing.
As for the not annoying and borderline unacceptable. For a party of four, we spent close to three hours for brunch, early on a Saturday afternoon. Roughly forty minutes to get a table and another hour for the kitchen to get the food to the table. This place is crazy popular, which means it's full (noisy) and pushes the ability of the staff to provide timely meals. At least that's my guess based on our experience.
Will we come back? Probably only on an off night, or after we've called ahead.

The staff here are exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The food is very good, despite being rather expensive. On top of this, they are a peanut- free kitchen, which has been a blessing to my family as my sister is allergic. Would recommend for anyone who is willing to spend a bit more on a nice breakfast, brunch, or even an unorthodox lunch!

The food is so good.. It recommends to eat

Nearly excellent! We thoroughly enjoyed our food. The Establishment was very clean the staff was extremely personable and the food was great. There was but one exception, the strawberries were cooked inside of the pancakes, and my son was not advised of this advance.

Outstandingly decadent menu options (and fun cocktails if you want to start your morning off right). I've been to the Inner Harbor and Roland Park locations . Might be a wait, but well worth it. I've had the Coconut cream stuffed French toast and the special carrot cake pancakes!!! $$

When first arriving at Miss Shirley's for Sunday brunch, it was extremely crowded and I know how those wait times can be for a good restaurant. We were told 20 minutes to wait but were seated in 15. Our waiter came over immediately after we were seated and checked on us just enough while eating. Our food came out rather quickly and was hot. The food was absolutely delicious! Overall great experience with great food and great customer service gives this cafe a 5 star. I will be back.

My visit was prior to COVID. Food is spectacular. It’s reputation for fine dining and a great brunch restaurant is well deserved.
UPDATE-Post Covid Review
Once again my opinion of Miss Shirley’s still stands. Great service. It’s always busy but they manage the crowds well and food and drinks are flavorful. Food portions quite generous. Very very satisfied.

Absolutely loved it. The server Dillon gave us one of the best dinning experiences we ever had. They asked us if we had any food allergies and a manager then came and asked us and told us about the foods that were relevant to what was ordered. Over all we were pleased and astonished at the exceptional atmosphere and quality customer service that was giving. Dillon was very knowledgeable and very pleasant. DILLON YOU ROCK!!

Iordered French Toast and Chicken.. Simple, yes I know😬
The portions were crazy lol. My date and I shared the French toast it was so much. The menu itself is meh to me personally.. But the food was good nonetheless. …

While I don't love all of the items on the menu (not a huge fan of seafood for breakfast), everything on the menu is solid. The service is excellent and as long as you pick the right time you can get in and get out pretty quickly.
(Edit/Reply to Miss Shirley's - We'll definitely be back. My family's favorite place to get breakfast!)
