Reviews of Charleston

Visited The Charleston for the first time in December and I’m still thinking about what an incredible experience we had. While it was a bit awkward when we entered (no one was there to greet us and we had to inquire about checking in our coats), everything after those few moments more than add up for it. The food was INCREDIBLE. Not only was it visually beautiful, the flavors were outstanding. Every dish was better than the last. Would highly recommend the accompanying wine pairing - 3 courses were more than enough for me. I will most definitively be back.

I've been following Charleston's & chef Wolf's instagrams since I moved to Baltimore in August and I always knew I had to try this place soon. I just love that they use local and seasonal produce with ingredients of quality & they love what they do. I consider myself a food lover and this is the dream place for food lovers. We had the most exquisite experience in our anniversary dinner tonight. Staff Was outstanding since We arrived. We started waiting for a couple of minutes by the bar and the bartender was super attentive and made great cocktails. We moved to our table and We got the 4 courses each of Us and it was incredible food. Very generous & very beautiful plating. Desserts are so good. They sent Us some sparkling wine to end our night as a courtesy for our anniversary. Thank You for the amazing experience. We definitely recommend this restaura

This restaurant is amazing! The level of care and attention to detail that the staff gives to its guests is very rare to come across. We celebrated our wedding anniversary at the restaurant tonight and I was so grateful as to how much information our waitress could provide us on wine selection, food options and the history of the restaurant. I am still blown away by the service. You are treated as if you are dining with the Queen :). We will continue to come back and recommend this establishment to others! Thank you for a lovely evening!

An impeccable dining experience. Food was perfectly prepared and seasoned, service was outstanding, and the value was even better than expected. (Of special note, dessert is *not* included in the number of courses, meaning it comes as a bonus fourth course if you choose the 3-course meal.) I would revisit this restaurant for any special occasion celebrated in Baltimore, and more often if I could.

My husband brought me here for our anniversary this past weekend and omg, hands down the best 4 course meal I’ve ever had. We selected the 3-course meal which also came with a complimentary desert course. The menu had a wide variety of dishes which I really appreciate because I’m a not a big meat eater whereas my husband is. We picked 6 completely different dishes so we could try each other’s food and it was all so delicious! The presentation was beautiful. We also did the wine pairing ($60/person extra for the 3 course) and it went so well with the food! It was the most expensive dining experience we’ve ever done (like over $400 for both!!) but we figured we will never get to celebrate our first year of marriage again (unless we remarried hahaha). But seriously, the food was out of this world! I still think about some of the dishes… The restaurant was also quite nice and has an upscale feel but also homey if that makes sense. The staffs were also very nice and professional. Highly recommend!

EXCEPTIONAL dining experience!!! The wait staff was so attentive, as soon as you took the last bite of your course, they appeared out of nowhere to clear your table for the next course. The dishes themselves were like works of art, so expertly arranged. Ooooo and the taste of each dish was immaculate, decadent, rich (can you tell I'm drooling). The drinks were equally as delicious. Hubby and I are already planning our next visit and the one after that, definitely worth the cost This is my favorite restaurant in Baltimore!!!!

This was our second time here and it was absolutely amazing! The service and attention to detail are second to none! Food is out of this world and they have a very nice wine list! Already counting the days until we return!

I was here for a private dinner with my company. The restaurant is beautiful and the service was excellent. We had appetizers, 5 courses + dessert. It was definitely a night to remember. I will be returning soon.

We had an excellent experience at Charleston. We got the 3 course menu that was very satisfying since the desert was on top of three savory plates and with the amuse we left the place very full (on a side note, I have left Michelin star places hungry after a 4-course tasting menu and the feeling isn't great).
I got the seasonal soft-shell crab, the risotto Milanese and the foie, my partner got the octopus, the fettuccine and the byson tenderloin. Everything was perfectly cooked, the octopus so tender and the byson as well.
A few things that I would have wanted differently: not sure why the fettuccine needed the white truffle oil since it is accompanied with trumpet mushrooms. The truffle oil really cheapened an otherwise great dish, that could benefit from some acidity and seasoning on the trumpets that tasted a bit plain.
The beautiful hostess at the entrance behaved like a Disney villain, like Cinderella's sister or something. In all honesty, I don't think she is a very welcoming person, fit for that specific role. Nothing wrong with being back of the house, you know.
The side salad on my soft shell was under-seasoned. Also my pana cotta desert had partly collapsed before it was served to me. I consider all these details that did not ruin my meal but it would be nice to have in mind.
Although this is a fine dining establishment I think their menu offers value for what you get served. The portions are generous for this kind of dining and the primary ingredients are of high quality.
I would definitely visit again if I craved this kind of cuisine.

The most amazing meal. Truly a 5 star experience across the board. It was a bit stuffy, I didn’t hear any music only hush whispers from the other tables, but the food was excellent. Dessert was complementary as well. The only reason I had to give 4 stars is because we both had stomach troubles later in the night. Probably wouldn’t deter me from returning though!

We had a 4:30 reservation. We arrived around 4:25pm. We were not seated until around 5pm or later. The wait staff were superb. Our appetizers or dinners were not hot, but were still delicious. We would not have expected to wait over 30 minutes to be seated with a reservation. We spent $300, including a 20% tip. #Disappointed

Ladies! Get your little black dresses and bring some company on your next dining evening out! What a beautiful experience for my birthday celebration! I recommend setting reservations in advance. We arrived at 5:30pm. Complimentary valet parking is provided. The dining rooms are beautiful, very clean, and well designed. The manager was very accommodating in regards to seating. We sat by the window on Lancaster Street. Excellent view of Harbor Point, the sail boats coming in, and private yachts docked. We had the three course with wine pairing. Excellent decision! The wines finely complemented each course. The staff is very knowledgeable on their dishes and wines. Be sure to make room for dessert! Dessert is a course that is gifted to you by the kitchen. Don’t be fooled by the portions, quite filling and absolutely flavored. Each dish was very well thought out and the flavors do reflect. Will be frequenting in the future!
I’ve only posted two of the three courses we devoured. Didn’t want to completely spoil the experience for you : )

Never had a dish here we didn't love. 3 to 6 courses plus dessert!! One of our favorite places to go.

Best food I’ve had in Baltimore. Literally everything was SO good and so worth the money. The truffle fettuccine was to die for; I didn’t want it to ever end! Incredible service from the team as well. Definitely recommend!
Doneisha Evelyn
Exceptional experience dining here! The waiter made us feel as if we were the only ones at the restaurant that evening and was extremely knowledgeable about the menu. This will forever be my favorite restaurant in Baltimore and I look forward to my next visit!

It is my first time at the Charleston and I must say I had an amazing time with my wife. We got the 3 course meal experience, and it was a fantastic. I highly recommend the lobster with curry sauce and the fettuccine with white truffle. The dessert was splendid as well, I got the lime Panna Cotta. Very good.
The staff is well trained. They are very cordial, kind and they really work hard to provide an excellent experience for the diners. They truly make your dining experience exquisite.
We really thought that for a two-person three course meal, the prices were very good. The food quality is nothing but excellent.
All in all, I would recommend this restaurant to anyone in a heartbeat.

Charleston was recommended highly by my daughter from reviews, however, it was also highly suggested from our friends at Visit Baltimore. The food was amazing and our service from Masha was delightful. Relaxing three course meal, chef stopped at the table, attentive, outstanding upscale “experince”. I can’t wait to visit again and treat my family. Thank you Peter, who greeted us with warm “Hello, and where are you from? “ Every course was explained, and the detail of presentation perfection.
Beth May
Profound. Transcendent. Incredible. I am amazed by the experience at Charleston. If the reviews say it's the food or the wine that makes this restaurant, they're missing half the equation. Because, yes, the food was delicious. And yes, the wine was fantastic. But more than that, the staff were efficient, polite, well-versed in what they were serving, and kind to boot.
But honestly, that would mean very little without excellent food. And it was beyond excellent. The pan seared foie gras and the rich lobster curry were particularly noteworthy, but everything brought to our table was honestly just... life changing in a way that I didn't know food could be.
Meridith Joyce
Genuinely one of the best meals I've ever had (and my partner and I are pretty experienced dining nuts!). I ordered 6 courses and had room for dessert and cheese without feeling overfull, though we did not have alcohol so that might have made a difference in stomach capacity. The highlights for me were the lobster soup, steak tartare, and truffle pasta. The use of jalapeño oil in many dishes was appreciated. Everything was balanced and flavorful without being overwhelming. I would say the food was easily on par with Test Kitchen in Cape Town, SA.
A prix fixe menu where the diner still retains some choice is not something I've seen often; this is a game-changer for people who love artistic food but may just want to avoid some ingredients (or meat, or fried food, etc) for whatever reason. I hope we will have the opportunity to go back.
Chris Zarraga
Visited for my bday to see if the hype was legitimate.
Very few vegan accommodations for my wife, even across three courses. My crab cake and truffle alfredo were good; my octopus was too salty. I will commend the chef for her attempts but even the baked jalapeños had seeds still in them, inedible for my wife.
Pretty venue, excellent service, but not vegan friendly at the end of the day and not certain about the value.

Wonderful food atmosphere and staff. Our waitress became our photographer at one point just a great night. Not only is the food great it is some how also art, just a unique spot. Baltimore is lucky to have a place like this

We had Thanksgiving dinner here and enjoyed the apps and main course the most. The lighting is a little dark in the backroom off the bar. Good service as well.

Lovely experience! The ambiance is pleasant and luxurious, the service is impeccable, and the food was scrumptious!
I loved the rockfish and the lobster soup! I also tried the quail, which had a good flavor but was a bit tough.. but maybe that’s how quail always is? The selection of wines is, indeed, exquisite.
I found the multiple course meals to be indeed a great way to go about the dinner! They also were generous with the on-the-house soup and puff pastry, the bread and butter, and the macaroons.
Will definitely be back for special occasions!

Best restaurant in Baltimore!!! Foi gras and lamb chop dishes were amazing. The ambiance in the small side room to the right is very nice if they will seat you there.

Charleston's! Best high end food and wine I have ever eaten! Compliments to Chef Wolf. This restaurant offers, a great waitstaff, atmosphere, ombiance along with supurb fine dining, and great location on the waterfront! We loved every moment of the experience and will definitely come back.

Wonderful restaurant for a romantic, personalised, friendly, and perfectly-curated birthday/special occasion event. Highly recommend the 4-course menu with wine pairings -- ideal portions and a parade of Southern/low-country flavours for your tastebuds!
Lovely DJ
What can I say! Amazing food and customer service! Celebrated my birthday and soon as we came in they greeted you with a warmth welcome. Food and wine selection was wonderful and the server was very polite, friendly and professional. Actually Everyone was from the host to the servers! Thank you so much!

Had an incredible time at the Charleston. Food was amazing and filling. Highly recommend!

Really a nice experience. The staff were very kind and good at their job. When you’re paying this much (and it is a bit pricey) it’s nice to have people who make a big deal about you being there. I’m not going to lie: the truffle pasta had too much truffle…there, I said it. It’s like the chipotle pepper craze a few years ago and honey mustard before that. I can’t wait for truffle to go back into the forest of misfit flavors it came from. They do dishes with mushrooms and fish well.
Mark
Wonderful food and great service. The only thing that I found surprising was that a table in the bar area while I was waiting for a table had a baby at their table, and it was not that happy to be out. It just seams strange to allow kids at such a fancy place where people are spending $150 a person or more. Maybe that’s not a common experience, but still a bit weird.
It also was probably the best meal I have had in a year or two!

From first course to last, perfection. Cocktails were excellent but came a bit slowly. We got to watch Chef wolf expedite and she even came over and started telling us about the cheeses on the table. Great service, excellent flavors, dinner and a show!

The absolute gem in Baltimore! This is what fine dining should be: warm reception, quick seating, ample staff, talented staff, great diner-focused service and food. We never had to ask for anything nor were we forced to rush through dinner. We asked for it to slow between courses and that is exactly what we got. The course structure is great and allows you to select not only how much you'll spend, but in turn how much you'll eat. From cocktails to dessert and coffee it was an A+ on all counts.

If Michelin had published a guide for Baltimore, Charleston would have at least one star. I have not eaten at a two-star restaurant yet so I cannot tell if this restaurant would rate higher.
Abhinash. Choudhary
We had the same server this visit as we did a year ago, and she actually remembered us from our last visit. The service was friendly and not rushed, but not too slow either. We live hours away, but we’re already trying to find a reason to go back to Baltimore so we can eat here again! Yes it’s very expensive, but well worth it in our opinion for the excellent food and service.

This used to be Baltimore's best restaurant. Our most recent visit made it clear that this is, by far, one of the best resto's in the nation. The setting is delightful. The welcome is reassuring. The wine list is utterly amazing. The menu -- your choice of a three-, four-, five-, or six-course tasting, not including dessert (which is a freebie) -- is fantastic. The portions are not tiny tasting, nor are they "normal" size (which, given America's expanding waistline) is gargantuan; they're just right. The food is served beautifully, appears almost too good to eat, BUT, when you do give your taste buds a workout -- OMG! -- each dish was absolutely otherworldly. We had a four-course dinner, and we probably should have made it three. But no complaints. OH SO GOOD. Yes, it's pricey. Also yes, it provides value that surpasses the bottom line. Will we be back? As I write this we're hiding out in an oven.

Back for my birthday and never disappointed. Mushroom soup was awesome. Fish to perfection and who knew apple cider vinegar sorbet would be so yummy. Can't wait until Mother's Day!

Came here for Valentine's Day with my boyfriend and we had an absolutely marvelous time. The whole staff was extremely professional, kind, and well versed in the dining etiquette rule book!
The meals ordered were cooked to perfection with every sign of Chef Wolf's talent being illustrated in each and every dish. Will definitely come by again for a special event in the near future! :)
PS: The bison? OMG SOOOOO GOOOOD!

The menu is pre fixe, and the food is fabulous. The service brought to mind a dinner at New York’s Le Bernardin during which multiple servers worked in tandem to create a timely flow. At Charleston, a lead server explained the menu and served a couple of the courses. Other staffers appeared at just the right moment to remove the plate from the course I just finished, pour water, replenish rolls and deliver other courses. And the dining rooms are attractive and well appointed.

Excellent restaurant. We went here for someone's birthday and it was excellent. The food was great, the servers were friendly and were very knowledgeable about the menu. Very pricey but worth it for the experience.
Jenni Lloyd
3 out of the 9 dishes were good, the rest were bland and the two risotto dishes were slightly undercooked, which is probably why we both still have painful bloated stomachs 4 hours later. The reviews are so amazing I just have to put it down to an off night, but at that price point I wouldn’t feel comfortable returning.

Very fancy upscale restraunt but worth every penny. The food and the service were fantastic. The ambience of the restraunt is so beautiful. Enjoyed 3 course meal with some mouth watering tasty complimentary deserts.

This has become one of my favorite restaurant! If you love fine dining restaurant then, this is the one. From the waiters to the ambiance, everything and everyone was just sooo wonderful. I was here for a first date and I believe I’ll be coming back again to experience this. The food selection is worth every penny! You get to choose between 3,4,6 courses! You can create your experience how ever you want. I wish I can give them more starts haha!! The Foie Gras!! Was sooo perfect! From the warm outside to the cold inside the transition was so perfect. 10/10

Mixed experience, but still a favorite. They took amazing care of our group of six and were super accommodating that our show beforehand ran late. MOST of food (and all of the wine) was outstanding as always. One course for my wife did initially get forgotten (it happens) and then was served a less than stellar piece of rockfish (waaay too much of the gray fishy meat that can come with rockfish, but still isn't necessarily good) and when I mentioned it (she's never comfortable complaining!) the main guy basically blew it off with "that's just how rockfish is". Ok, I suppose. But it's also the part you remove when it's obviously visible and making up a significant portion of the fillet. Wasn't a HUGE deal, but when you're spending $500 per couple, expectations are high. I still can't wait to go back (though it's a special occasion kind of place due to the cost) and highly recommend - Chef Wolf makes some killer dishes.

Really enjoyed my experience here. Came here with a friend for restaurant week. The staff was so accommodating with current Covid conditions. We shared everything from the shrimp bisque, arugula salad, pan roasted sea scallop, white truffle fettuccine, grilled creekstone prime beef tenderloin, lobster tortellini, pan roasted Hudson Valley magret of duck and the grilled Colorado lamb rack chop. We loved the seafood and meats here. The lobster and duck were definitely our favorites. You can tell each dish has a particular highlight to it whether its the sauce, protein, or pasta. Rich, savory and French inspired definitely describe our meal. Just be mindful that this restaurant does not come cheap. Expect to spend anywhere between 150-200 per person. Charleston is a great spot to celebrate any special occasion. Great food with awesome service and an extensive menu to please anyone

Rate it? Are there a kazillion stars here?.I am taking a second mortgage so I can go more often. Really though for such amazing quality of food and service..and the fact that everyone makes you feel like youre visiting family, the price is a lot less than some other restaurants that dont have the blessing of Chef Wolfe. I absolutely love this restaurant and thank everyone there for sharing with me memory-making experiences for whomever I bring.

Special occasion dinner for my son’s Ph.D. Group of seven, 4 to 5 courses each, plus dessert—half with wine pairing. Well-choreographed staff in subdued, pretty dining rooms. Stand-out dishes were lobster curry soup, fried oysters, fois gras, duck confit ravioli in broth. Special lamb shanks were a hit as well. Outstanding desserts were brûlée and apple galette.
The missteps—I got the “special” of venison—unacceptably tough. Hacking away with sharp knife, hard-to-chew tough. Had it been any other situation, I would have sent it back —and I’ve only ever sent a dish back once. The other fault was the escargot —they weren’t there. Two tiny, brioche-toast covered containers had two escargot each. The remaining space had half a jumbo shrimp. Very tasty, wonderful broth—but I didn’t order “shrimp.”
Charleston needs to up its game. Pare down the menu? Or just be sure that each small plate is perfectly done.

Very nice experience! We had a three course menu from a long list of options! Everything tastes great! Great service. Free Valet parking!
Chariya Little
That was definitely the most amazing dining experience I have ever had! We did the 6 course with wine pairings and every detail was attended to.

This is by far the best restaurant in MD and quite possibly my favorite I've ever had. Everything that touches the table is absolutely exquisite, even dishes that i would not usually order were phenomenal (lobster curry soup is so delicious)

Wonderful meals 2 nights in a row! We changed up each night and tried the 3-course selections both evenings. Fantastic combinations of taste with excellent presentation. Duck, scallops, rabbit, with salmon, and fried oysters were great; and I had the duck twice!

This is my favorite restaurant in Baltimore. It is a dining experience worth your time and attention. From the moment you enter, you will feel welcomed and well cared for without the overt pretentiousness that you might get at a place of equal caliber. We come here every so often, and are never dissatisfied. We most recently were here for our 30th anniversary, and once again were not disappointed. The young Sommelier was engaging and helped me understand what to expect, and the history of the wine I was drinking. The tag team of Jocelyn, Carmen and Nick seamlessly provided amazing service without being disruptive. The food is absolutely amazing, and the experience is so nice, it is almost embarrassing to take pictures of the courses. We stayed for over 3 hours, and could have stayed longer. Sit down, talk, and enjoy immaculate service, visually stunning courses, and amazing culinary prowess. I would argue that this restaurant is the best bang for your buck in town.

8 times Nominated Chef Wolf delivers the goods . An amazing menu Michelin Star worthy . Had a perfect Duck as well several dishes that all oozed perfection .

Great fancy place if you want to treat yourself or your loved ones to something really special. Food is absolutely amazing. I can recommend the Lobster Curry (seasonal), the Roasted Veal Sweetbread and the Lamb Chops. Also I would recommend wine pairing with the courses. If you don't like that, the wine list is enormous. We had the four courses plus dessert (that comes with the menu) and left the place with our bellies full of deliciousness. Even the dessert was outstanding considering that neither me nor my partner have a sweet tooth.

Really loved this place! Great ambience, the service was amazing and the food was delicious!! I went with my sister and we had a great time. I was visiting from nyc and I would love to try this place again if I visit Baltimore again. One thing is there are a wide range of food options so it was hard to decide haha

Best restaurant I’ve been to, not just in Baltimore but in the whole state. Took my lady here for our 1 year anniversary and was crossing my fingers that The Charleston would live up to the hype- it absolutely did. We walked in and immediately got a “happy anniversary!” from all the staff, they knew our names and were all aware of my girlfriends allergy. The host, (or perhaps manager, I wish I could remember his name), was an absolute gentleman. It was very evident he loved his job and loved being of service to people. A charismatic and very professional man. Staff attended to our every need, and each stage of our meal was prepped for, (new silverware, etc.), servers worked as a team and we didn’t want for anything! It goes without saying, but the food was phenomenal and portions were perfect. For two average sized young adults the three course option was plenty. Atmosphere was quiet and very comforting. If you’re looking to treat your significant other to a wonderful date night, or even celebrate something with a small group of friends and family, this restaurant would be my number 1 suggestion. I am very pleased, and my girlfriend left feeling like an absolute princess. Seeing her smile so big was worth the bill 10 times over!

By far the best.
I came in with Tshirt and jeans - got a few side glances by the wait staff who were dressed to the nines, but they never said anything. All other patrons were dressed up. In town for business and this was a last minute reservation - i took the last available table. Certainly book ahaead of time.
Once they figured out I didnt care about the formality and didnt run from the prices on the menu the ice thawed and they became friendly - even had a wonderful conversation with Matthew who went to St Louis for school at the same time I did.
Chef came out with each course.
Serving sizes are about half the typical size, so plan accordingly - you pick the number of courses up front. Price ranges from $80-120 for the meal - price doubled for paired wines.
The beef fillet was the most tender I have ever encountered and each flavor perfectly balanced and complimentes each other.
The chef obviously cares about the dishes they send out.

Equal to or better than michelin star fine dining with half of the price. Will definitely come here again

Great place and great staff. The owner was also super friendly. I can see why this is considered one of the better dining experiences in Baltimore! Only minor complaint would be a bit of a lack of vedgetables (at least with the 6 dishes i bought). It was mostly watercress, but im nitpicking at this point. The seafood, potatoes, risotto, mushroom, sauces, bison were delightful
Besiana Sheshi
Honestly some of the best food I’ve ever had. Everyone was also super sweet and nice. Absolutely loved it.

The BEST Experience of A Dining Moment EVER!! This Restaurant is Exceptionally Exquisite in every way. I felt like royalty; the Service is TOP NOTCH!! I did 5 or 6 courses w/ fabulous wine pairings + a Free delicious decadent dessert. EVERYTHING was💯 Epic ...starting w/ the assortment of breads, cocktails, wines, chocolates, macaroons, pastas, soups, etc... the soups were SUPERB. The menu is easy to navigate and the staff are all eager to assist. ....Parking is challenging; Valet is included ...the only thing that wasn't exciting was the lamb. It didn't dissapoint, it just wasn't the star😐 But EVERYTHING else was AWESOME!! I CANNOT wait to return frequently like every season😊 😍☺️🤩😋🥰 this is definitely a Five 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 Star establishment worthy of special✨️ memories 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥.

We dined at The Charleston recently, and, unfortunately, it did not meet expectations. We have dined at a variety of high end restaurants up and down the east coast, and abroad, and, quite frankly, we've had better food and service at local favorites like the Manor Tavern and Barrett's Grill in Hunt Valley.
To start with, I have a severe gluten allergy, and this was noted when making the reservation; however, this note must not have been passed on because our server, the assistants, absolutely no one, knew about this. I told the server, (who was knowledgeable about the gf items on the menu), but he must not have mentioned this to anyone else. I was offered bread multiple times, and when complimentary plates were brought to the table, I had to repeatedly ask if I could eat it. Towards the end of the night I just gave up asking and gave my portion to my husband. They should have known they had an allergy at the table to begin with - and they should have told me the moment they placed it down whether or not I could enjoy it.
While I was not glutened, I didn't feel completely safe about my meal. I have been to much lesser esteemed establishments that do so much more to accommodate my allergy...from putting a little flag in my dish, noting the allergy, to having the meal come out separately from the others to avoid cross-contamination.
Also, at these lesser establishments, I am usually offered substitutes - whether it is gf bread, gf crackers, or even cucumber slices with the cheese board. Absolutely no substitutes were offered at The Charleston, and the server had an air of, well you just can't have it - you'll have to go without. For a restaurant of this caliber, I guess I just expected a bit more.
As far as the service, it wasn't bad but, similar to above, for a restaurant like this, I was expecting it to be outstanding. In the beginning, the dishes were brought out at regular intervals, but towards the end, it was very slow. Assistant servers brought the actual dishes out and explained each one, but they were wearing masks and spoke softly, so they were hard to understand. These assistant servers did most of the work - our main server wasn't very involved with our meal at all.
Halfway through, my sister and I went to use the restroom, and when we came back, our dishes were there. I would have thought that the servers would not have served them until everyone was back at the table and seated. Our water glasses were often empty - and we had to flag down a variety of servers to fill them. Overall, everyone was pleasant but not super friendly or personable.
Regarding the food - it was very good, but not outstanding. Had I had this food at a lower level restaurant, I would have been pleased. But when paying $500 for this experience, I expect better. The roasted corn soup was delicious, as was the cheese selection prior to dessert. Everything else was just okay - except the arugula salad. It had a bitter, sour taste. I tried to eat a few bites, but couldn't get much farther. I should have sent it back.
Sadly, I don't think we'll be back to the Charleston. It was far too much money for sub-par food and service.

Wonderful food. We did 4 courses with wine pairing. Service was impeccable.

I think everyone knows by now that this is the place to go in Baltimore, if you’re looking for a high-end, white-glove dining experience. The wine pairings with each course is great!

I went for a anniversary and it was exceptional. They exceeded my expectations. We had the 4 course meal and everything was delicious. The ambiance was great and the staff was excellent. Will definitely return

Anniversary dinner reservation for their four course menu. My stomach was not feeling it but did not want to lose the reservation since being a fan of chef Wolf, i decided to soldier through. As expected, service was impeccable as dinner started out with amuse-bouche that consisted of ricotta souffle and peashooter that not only awaken my palette, but my stomach was raring for more as if my earlier troubles never existed.
Their signature lobster bisque with arugula oil only enhanced the perfectly cooked chunks of lobster meat that tasted even sweeter. My second course of their scallop dish was fresh and perfectly cooked, but quickly saddened once finished since i wanted more. Third course of bison fillet was perfectly cooked and seasoned with just enough smokiness from the char grill, but little on the skinny side. Lastly, my final course of apple tart was bit on the dry side and kind of...ordinary. Nothing special. My only complaint would be their cheese course. One particular cheese was just awful and rancid tasting. Maybe because it was that damn fly buzzing around inside their case? Either way, minor gripe i suppose.
Everything else was impeccable as their excellently trained wait staff calmly explained to you the details of every dish they bring. They say you get what you pay for. The experience from this restaurant makes you feel as if you paid three times more. Next time I'll skip the cheese course and definitely try their different dessert options.

Better than your average restaurant. However, I have been disappointed a few times with the inconsistency of the cooking of the fish plates. The ambience is nice. Yet, I definitely feel as if it is missing that elusive "something." But yes, it is a very nice dining experience.

This place lives up to the hype. My wife and I dined at Charleston for our 15 year anniversary and it was amazing. Everything was good - literally everything. We highly recommend the lobster curry, scallops, lobster risotto, and the bison. The arugula salad and desserts are were excellent too. We will be back.

This restaurant is beautifully appointed, has an excellent wine list and cocktails. The service was impeccable and courteous and the food was extraordinary. Kudos to Chef Cindy Wolf and staff—so thankful for the opportunity to experience Charleston. Cannot wait to dine there again on my next visit.

I took my niece and her husband to Charleston in late January for their birthdays. It took us 45 minutes to get our drinks once we sat down at the table! We complained several times, to no avail. They provided no explanation other than the bar was busy. However, several tables that arrived after us timely received their drinks .They started serving dinner before the drinks arrived and I asked them to wait until our drinks were served because we wanted to relax before eating. The wait staff had thick accents and, with their masks, were essentially incomprehensible. It was a long wait to get another round of drinks, since they offered a "refresh," so-called, to only one member of our party. Getting the bill also took forever. The birthday dessert was a candle in a small scoop of icecream??!
The food was scrumptious. But over $400 for such remorselessly lousy service would make me pause before returning.

For some reason it took us ten years in Baltimore before we tried the Charleston. Ten years that we wasted. Our lives would have been better had we come here earlier. Chef Wolf and team are artists. From the moment we drove up, we were treated with warmth. From the valet to the front staff to our server, we felt welcomed. The whole service staff executed to perfection every aspect of our meal. Deep knowledge of the menu and the wines, and personalized attention to the speed with which we are our meal (slowly). Beyond the service was the food and wine. Every course we had was perfect, and the wine pairings were amazing. These were not safe and simple pairings, but daring and bold choices that not only fit the meal perfectly, but improved upon it. I can’t say I’ve had a better meal anywhere. What a perfect celebration for our anniversary.

My wife and I had high expectations for this 9-time James Beard award finalist and tasting-menu only experience. While we liked most of the food, namely the Halibut and Beef Tenderloin, we were disappointed in the beef tartare (lack of flavor and too cold) and bison (too rare and barely warm). Very good food overall though as we did the 4-course menu. The fast-paced servers did not give much time to select wine or the food choices. A bit stressful tone and evident by at least five servers that we saw power-walking briskly from 5:15 to 7:00pm. They came over two minutes after sat down and again every three minutes or so. You can see the working kitchen from some tables if you prefer that. Keep in mind that most courses are half-sizes or one-third sizes, so it is best to order the 4-course menu. Expect to spend $440+ for two adults doing the 4-course menu along with with gratuity and tax.

I highly recommend Charleston. We had the 4 course menu and loved the seafood. There is a big variety between lobster, crab cake, salmon, veal,…The octopus is amazing! The only down note is that it took a while before we had a waiter at our table ( around 10 minutes). I also wish the dessert menu offered more variety. It was delicious though.
Last and more important, don’t forget to dress up. It’s an upscale and sophisticated place.

We enjoyed our dining experience. The service was impeccable. We didn’t need to ask for anything.
We ordered a three and four course meal. The food was cooked to perfection. Note: They Valet😀 …

Great food and service. I could not have had a better birthday dinner!
Michael Leach
This was a simply wonderful dining experience from start to finish. The menu is immense and you can choose any of the items to create a three-course, four-course, five course or six course dinner with wine pairings. A lot of thought went into the wine pairing and these are not your typical wines. The rooms are quiet, with no music playing, allowing for quiet, pensive conversation. The food is nothing less than sublime. Service is highly professional and accommodating, just the way the finest restaurants used to be decades ago. Some may feel that prices are high but a wonderful meal like this is truly priceless. We will be back again and again whenever we're in Baltimore!

Celebrated our wedding anniversary here and it is worth all the hype. Arguably the best fine dining experience in Baltimore. Great deal for the quantity and quality of food you get. Cindy stopped by our table to say hello. Great experience.
Larry Hountz
Food and Service were amazing 👏 😍 🙌
Matt Johnson
We came here for our anniversary dinner. Everything from the service to food was amazing.
Nicholas Jewett
The food was really great, but the service was even better. Andrew was our waiter, and even with the latest reservation of the night, everything was perfect. Highly recommend it at least once.
Nancy Le
For fine dining, it is reasonably priced. Portions are much larger than expected. Dress code ranges from joggers to suits.
Billy Criswell
A great dinning experience with wonderful food and great service. An awesome special occasion place. But be warned.......expensive!
Emmanuel Rached
One of the best places in Baltimore and elsewhere, be prepared for an experience unlike anything you've ever tried. Words cannot really describe it, the food is amazing and the atmosphere is cozy, the service is impeccable.
Very highly recommended!!
Bruce Dalcher
We have been here twice and plan to drive from Norfolk in the near future just to enjoy it again. FAR superior to the Inn at Little Washington: the experience approaches Petrus (in Kensington, London)
Eisuke Dohi
4 years ago, it was amazing experience. One of the top restaurant in MA!
Alex Gonzalez
My wife made a reservation here for my birthday on Saturday the 25th. We started with caviar and a champagne pairing which was great. After that we had a 4 course meal with wine pairings which we felt was the perfect amount to leave us satisfied. My wife had a beef wellington which melted in our mouths and was our favorite course by far. We will return.

We were able to make a reservation the same day after not getting service at another restaurant. We arrived to a bit of chaos at the hostess stand as several people were trying to get their coats and check-in at the same time. Once seated our waiter came over and explained the menu. We chose to do the 4 course meal. The food was delicious and the service was impeccable. We will definitely return for a special occasion. It's pricey but we'll worth the money.
Becca Brown
Wonderful food with beautiful presentation. We chose four courses and each was interesting and a good portion and the wine pairings were a lot of fun. I give 3 stars because of the service we received. We had an 8pm reservation and were not seated until 9pm. When we were seated, we were seated in the back room rather than the main dining room. We were celebrating and had made a trip for the restaurant, and had been waiting an hour past our reservation, so we asked to be moved to the main room. While they did accommodate our request, both the hostess and server were obviously unhappy with the request. When we were seated at the new table, the hostess asked why we were unhappy with the back room. The question seemed undercutting since I think most people would prefer the main dining room with other people, lighting, and artwork over what seemed like an overflow room usually used for private events that had been set up with a few two top tables. Our server was okay, but it’s just disappointing to pay over $500 for a meal for two people and to have the waiter seem unhappy that we were at his table.

We came here for my friends Birthday celebration. The food is excellent and the environment is beautiful. We were seated in a room that was romantic and cozy. Don't get me started on the wait staff, sommelier, host and hostess and everyone that we interacted with. The staff is lovely. They were so professional and so polite in not interrupting our conversation over the 4 courses. While also giving excellent presentations of each course and the wine.
We loved the whole dining experience - what a treat!

My husband and I celebrated our three year anniversary here at Charleston for dinner, and it was quite the experience! We thoroughly enjoyed the 4 courses of the amazing food along with the explanation of it all! We also ordered scotch, cocktails, and wine which were great! Our server, Jessica, is amazing at what she does and we will ask for her when we visit again. We appreciate all the staff there! Thank you for celebrating with us!
Joe Hinders
Totally floored. This place is amazing. The fine dining atmosphere and high end service, started at the bar with some amazing old fashions. Wine selection was great and the food was epic. I had the 3 course with octopus, divine. Lamb shank papardell, decadent, and the Creekstone Farms Filet, absolutely flawless. The pear cake with creme fraiche was perfect and espresso was needed. Our server was attentive and the rest of the staff was on point. I will be coming back.

Wow what an experience!! We went to Charleston to celebrate our matriarch’s 80th birthday. We made the right choice - we had an unforgettable, over-the-top experience. The food was abundant, diverse, creative and absolutely exquisite. The kitchen is open so we could experience the food actually being prepared in front of our eyes. The service was amazing to the extent we actually talked about how well trained and choreographed the staff are. Personally they reminded me of the best sports teams or musicians, working in perfect harmony and making hard work and superlative attention to detail look effortless. George was our chaperone for the evening and was way above and beyond. He really got in tune with each diner and had just the right recommendations for dishes, wines etc. Had a great sense of humor and superbly guided us throughout the evening, without being intrusive at all. What a pro! Totally definitely recommend Charleston, something special here, thank you for an epic meal and experience!!
Carolyn Adams
Charleston is the best restaurant in Maryland. The food is so delicious, it makes you want to return the next day. You are greeted as if you are family and we were attended by Joshua B - that's B for Best. He is awesome! But most of all, we LOVE Chef Wolf and are happy that she stays with Charleston even though she has other restaurants.
Priyanka Barua
I had the most amazing dinner of my life! I tried the 4 course with wine pairing. And a dessert in the end.. i was stuffed! The food is outstanding and the service is excellent! Perfect place for a celebration.
Carlo Carlini
Best dining experience in Baltimore. Service is amazing. The tasting menu format is very easy to.navigate and gives you a chance to try out the vast array of dishes that Chef Cindy Wolf creates. While some of the mainstays of the menu can't be skipped (lobster bisque, shrimp and grits...) be tempted by the specials as well. This time we tried the soft shell crab and the grilled octopus. We were not disappointed.
Feng Wu
Best restaurant in Baltimore. Complimentary dessert course included.
Jessie
We had an absolutely outstanding expereince. The service was spot on. I only wish our server had more warmth when speaking with us.
Daniel Baruffi
What a treasure! Great portion sizes, phenomenal layers of flavor and quiet ambiance make this a new favorite for us. Carmen was a great server, too. I even got a bonus lesson on their Cognac and Armagnac cart (yes, they have a Cognac cart) from the very accommodating host. Also- free valet (but you should tip them well!)
Matt Fairchild
Everything was exceptional. This is our 2nd time eating at Charleston and the meal was even better this time than the last, which was also very good. The bar tender was very accommodating, looking up a drink recipe to make something I requested that wasn't on the menu. The food was cooked to perfection even making some non-favorite things taste delicious (e.g. mushrooms and reddish). Waitstaff was attentive but not overly so, overall it was quite the perfect dining experience.
Prashanth Pathy
One of the most memorable dining experiences we have ever had - from food, decor, to service. A+
Nicholas Molina
Very good food. The service was not quite what I expected for the price (the waiter however was excellent) and the wine pairing somewhat of a disappointment. Would be 5/5 if I ordered my own bottle or stuck with cocktails though.
Stephen Mahar
I took my wife to the Charleston for her birthday this past Saturday. First time there. We will return. The Charleston is an excellent restaurant. Perhaps Baltimore's best. Service is superb. The dinner choices (with the wine pairings) are excellent. It's clean, fairly quiet with a handsome decor. Why four
Stars? Dessert was alright. Not bad, not special... just alright. There was no wow factor there, unlike dinner (that shrimp and grits is dynamite). Maybe I'm just nit picking. Either way, we'll be back. Highly recommend!
A.J. Samusson
The most spectacular meal I've ever had in my life. Our table chose to have the chef, Cindy Wolf, select and prepare our meal for us. She's fabulous!
zeek ab
Great service and AMAZING food, we had a wonderful first visit to the Charleston.
Erica Curtis
This restaurant offers perhaps the best dining experience I've had. The service is sharp and professional, while also being attentive to your needs. Jocelyn, our server, was impeccable. The traditional southern styling with the furniture and lighting, is strikingly contrasted with the modern Rothko-esque paintings that adorn the walls. The food was beautiful and surprisingly filling. Fabulous execution from start to finish.
Darnell Kebo
11/8/21: Randomly ended up here and were able to sit at the bar. Our party of 4 each enjoyed a 3 course meal. Service was friendly and attentive.
Excellent dishes: lobster soup, foie gras, rockfish, and octopus.
Cocktails were delicious.
Jennie Shelley
Lovely place, great food and friendly service. Happy to enjoy dinner with great company. We heard from a very loud guest at a table near by that the food and service was so good, that they may have soiled themselves before they left. I mean it must be good, right??
They do enforce covid regulations. Do not go if you have issues putting on a mask.
Austin Davis
Amazing dinner. The combination of southern style food with upscale cooking techniques is something you can’t easily find north of the mid-Atlantic. While i did not do the wine pairings, there was no shortage of whiskeys to sip, and after dinner espresso is a must!
Eric Folio
Dined there with my wife last night. An absolutely wonderful experience. The food can rival some of the best restaurants in Europe. Our waiter was top notch. Props to Cindy Wolfe. She has something special here.
Jeff Schram
Third time dining at Charleston. We had a very enjoyable meal celebrating our wedding anniversary. Outer room was very pleasing except for the rather loud air conditioning system by our table by the mirror. This was a bit distracting to the ambiance of the evening. The food was excellent overall.
The standouts were the:
Halibut - perfectly prepared with a mushroom and Lemon Beurre Blanc
Pork Rack Chop - large portion, amazingly tender, with a rhubarb/port wine compote
Grilled Octopus - tender and well marinated over a unique salad
Fried Green Tomato Sandwich - wow! a taste treat with lobster & crab
The disappointments:
Ceviche - was an add on to the menu, prepared as a single slice of rockfish with a spread over the top that made it so salty it was difficult to discern any flavor, unique but not good
Sticky Toffee Pudding - just a dry cake, not sticky or toffee like
Wine pairing was okay, but the Pinot we ordered with the pork was the best wine of the evening.
Kaitlyn Stockon
My partner and I were treated to dinner by one of my good friends; I have never been to a restaurant of this caliber, it was pricey but well worth the experience. The food was great! Normally I have a moderately sized appetite, and I came in STARVING, but the four course small plates, plus bread, and dessert left me extremely full. The staff was extremely kind and I never had an empty glass of water or wine. I had an amazing experience and would like to come back for a visit to try other menu items and cocktails. Thank you for a wonderful evening!
Lisa Balderson
Best dinner of my life!!! The lobster bisque was the best soup i have ever had - the portions and courses were all phenomenal. This chef is a mastermind and a genius. Highly recommend
Raymond Ortiz
Absolutely the best food I ever had. Please know that you don't come here for just food, but a experience. Every single staff member was courteous and just amazing. I actually felt sad at one point because the pleasantries were so genuine. My mother in law was a god damn pain, but the entire experience from start to finish erased it. Highly recommend if you are in baltimore. So much so that I'm coming back again to really experience the food again. Truly truly amazing
Casey Hawkins
Great food and drinks with a courteous staff. The chef’s menu with wine pairings was wonderful. The lobster bisque, halibut, and crème brûlée were delicious.
Every member of the staff I interacted with were friendly and accommodating. I really appreciated the commitment to COVID safety protocols. I was very impressed at the staffs’ continued professionalism even when an irate customer refused to comply with the city’s mask mandate.

My mother and decided to have our November bday celebrations as one as they are only 9 days apart. My dad suggested we go here. I didn't really know what to expect as I saw the menu online and was somewhat thrown off by the option tasting menu situation. I was blown away. First of all, the portions are actually decent for a tasting type menu. You're not going to be absolutely stuffed but you aren't going to feel hungry after the light option. I have probably had better individual dishes elsewhere, but it would be hard to beat the consistency of this place. Each serving was better than the last. I thought the service was very appropriate. Seeing as the wine pairing comes with the dishes, hovering servers were not present nor needed. They were there when you needed them to be. I would imagine that were this restaurant in DC or NYC that it would no doubt be a 2 Michelin star. I also think that in terms of value for money, it doesn't get much better than this. Yes it's more expensive than your average restaurant, but it's really not that much more expensive and it is 10x better.
Debbie O'Shea
This was without question the finest dining experience of my life. My husband and I celebrated our sixth anniversary here this past weekend, and it is impossible to overstate how excellent our experience was. We both selected 4 courses. I should have taken more pictures of our meal, but we really wanted to savor with our senses and leave technology alone. Each course was divine in its own way. In hindsight I wish I wouldn’t have selected as many rich items in a row, but I’m not sure what course I was willing to give up for what was probably an exceptional salad. I started with lobster soup, which was excellent, but was not the star of my meal. Next was oysters Rockefeller that were cooked to perfection. My favorite course was the crawfish and grits. Interestingly this is not something I would usually order, but our waiter sold me on the shellfish’s freshness. It was delicate, fresh and glorious. I finished with with a light preparation of rockfish, thankfully, that perfectly rounded out the meal. While I’ve mostly highlighted the food, the service was a big part of our experience. I’ve never been treated better. We had a special appetizer and dessert sent to the table in honor of our anniversary. Service was attentive and smart without being pretentious. Cindy Wolf and Tony Foreman were visible and present and more personally involved in the operation than I expected. If you want a special dining experience in Baltimore, look no further.
Mallory Highstein
This was truly a culinary experience. You can get from 3-6 courses plus dessert. I had the lobster soup, the scallop, and the bison tenderloin. It was some of the best food I've had. The tenderloin was so tender. The scallop was cooked to perfection. The lobster soup was perfectly prepared and beautiful. I finished off with the chocolate Panna cotta which was so light and tasty. Its very expensive so perfect for a special event. 100% recommend for a culinary experience
Scott Harris
To say that the dining experience at Charleston is impeccable is an understatement. I’ve dined there several times in celebration of my birthday, including last night for my 70th, and my wife’s and my anniversary, soon to be 40th.
From the moment we entered until the moment we left, everything was perfect!! The food is incredible and the service is unmatched. So, thank you for a memorable evening!!
Michael Burgos
Easily one of the primer dining experiences in all of Baltimore. I cannot speak highly enough of Cindy Wolf and her team. Baltimore is a city with many top rated dining establishments, but Charleston is a cut above. The food is phenomenal with every detail carefully considered and prepared. To accompany the food, the overall service the moment you walk through the door is excellent. Without doubt, Charleston will be one of the finest dining experiences if you choose to visit.
Peter Loeb
Very professional and great food. Chief menu for the table was fun but expensive and no warning from the waiter the cost. Don't feel that is very professional. Our waiter had a splint on and to us he cut his finger and it was still bleeding. Yikes he should have worn a glove while serving. We had two doctors at the table.
Jenny Browning
The food is fantastic and the wine pairings really compliment the dishes. My favorite course was the soup and 5 years later I still think about that soup. It is one of the best things I've ever eaten. Someday I'll make the trip back out there. It was worth every penny and I'm a frugal person. SO worth it!
Shannon Walters
My husband and I dined at the Charleston for our wedding anniversary. We felt completely safe to dine inside, staff was cheerful and welcoming. Len, our server, was enchanting and informational. Chef Cindy is a wizard; if you’ve never had sweetbread I implore you to try it here! Thank you Charleston for making our first wedding anniversary picture perfect, and we look forward to seeing you again!

I really expected much more, especially for what you pay. Highlights: Steak Tartar--delicious; Grilled Bison--perfectly cooked; Cornmeal Fried Oysters with lemon cayenne mayonnaise--very nice. What I thought needed improvement: Foie Gras Tortellini with Trumpet Mushrooms in Beef Broth (could not pick up on the foie gras. Mushrooms a little tough/rubbery); Lobster Agnolotti (couldn't tell if any lobster was there); Veal Sweetbreads and Foie Gras (sweetbreads were very bland. Underwhelming. Foie Gras was good). Winter Truffle Risotto--just not good especially given the $95 upcharge; Grilled Bronzino--very disappointing....The deserts that come with the dinner were good, especially the chocolate raspberry...The service was average. For that price you expect to not be out of water or coffee.
Lauren F
Amazing! I've had The Charleston on my list of restaurants to visit for quite some time, and am thrilled I finally made it in. Service was some of the best I've ever experienced! My water glass was never empty, utensils magically appeared when needed, and the staff was attentive but not overbearing. We lucked into a perfect table with a glass wall looking into the kitchen. It was so nice being close to the action and watching Cindy Wolf herself do business. I did the 5 course tasting with wine pairings, and everything was superb. I enjoyed the lobster and curry soup, shrimp ceviche, scallop #2, halibut and duck. I think my favorite was the halibut, but I already want to go back to try the other items on the menu. The wine pairings were absolutely perfect. The only course I didn't like was dessert...I had the pavlova and it was dry. Otherwise, such a perfect experience and I will be back to try a different set of items
hamid ghaednia
Great food, and great environment. The wine selection and pairing was superb. Everything was wonderful really but one thing. We went to Charleston a year ago, for a very special day. The only thing that has stopped us from visiting again is the waiter who was handling our table. He gave us a very bad feeling about asking about questions about the menu. It was my first time at a fixe menu restaurant so he sort of made fun of it. Only the waiter was like this though, the rest of the staff were great specially the wine lady who explained a lot about the gini wine in their menu That wine has become one of our favorite wines since then. Overall great restaurant, great food and wine, but the service at least for my case could be a bit more welcoming!
Alexandra Stark
My husband and I love Charleston! Their every dish is presented like a piece of unique art and tastes like one too. Service is always beyond excellent and atmosphere is pleasant. I highly recommend Charleston for special occasions and true fine dining experience.
Kimberly Cooke
We decided to dine here to celebrate a milestone anniversary. The interior of the restaurant is very romantic and intimate. We specifically requested a quieter table, and we were not disappointed with where we were seated in the slightest. The menu was full of delicious options. There wasn't a single dish we regretted ordering. I definitely recommend getting the wine pairing, if you enjoy wine. Our waiter was very knowledgeable about the wines we were drinking, and was able to explain why they were paired with the dishes. I would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone celebrating a special occasion.
Leah Knapp
Superb service and food. One of the best restaurants around.
Dina Benani
This restaurant was a great experience and one that everyone should experience at least once. The service and food was wonderful with one exception. While waiting for our table we went to the bar to have a drink and the bartender was standoffish and cold, not very welcoming. The drinks however were delicious and the type that we still crave and think about now.
Renato Menezes
All I can say is wow. This is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to in my life. Ambiance is outstanding. The service was outstanding. My waitress was amazing. Highly refined and yet down to earth and sincere. She made feel very welcome. The entire staff is great and attentive. The food was superb. Creativity and an extraordinary taste is seen on every menu item, from the bread (which in itself would be worth the visit) to dessert. A Michelin star worthy restaurant.
tajre james
This place was amazing! My husband and I loved it. The food was insanely good and exceeded our expectations by far. The servers and host were amazing, they constantly checked on us and made us feel so welcomed. We can’t wait to go back for Valentine’s Day!
Crystal Haas
Great food and great service. Best location of the city. Wear your finest linens.
Bryant Foo
Some friends and I had a great dinner here this evening. The staff was very attentive and the food and drink pairings were excellent all around. I would highly recommend both the lobster bisque and halibut with beurre blanc. The restaurant is clearly taking COVID precautions seriously as I watched the maitre d' courteously enforce the mask mandate on an irate customer who was too inconvenienced to follow Baltimore City mandates to put a mask on when using the restroom.
Kari Bryan
Luis was an amazing bartender/ mixologist who crafted a beautiful evening for us. They came and explained every ingredient which my mom very much so appreciated and she is not a fancy person yet you accommodated us to perfection!
Tim Jurasevich
Charleston was an amazing experience. It's a choose your own adventure tasting menu of 3 to 6 courses with optional wine pairing, an optional cheese course after the main courses, and then dessert. Unlike most tasting menus, you get to completely customize your entrees as you can pick ANY 3 to 6. Everything on the menu was absolutely excellent and the wine pairings were absolutely spot on and complemented the food perfectly. Portion sizes were appropriate given that you're only getting a few courses. The cheese after the main courses was a great segue into dessert and the rind sheep cheese is phenomenal. Dessert was not quite at the same level as the main courses but still great.
John Morony
The best food and service on the East Coast. Period. Menus are contemporary and well executed, service is bar none. You will have an amazing time here.
Tanya Richardson
Nice atmosphere, food was delicious. Quite Pricey. Portions could've been a little bigger. Lamp shop was scrumptious. I wanted another.
D. Bruce Brown
Loved it! I have done in fine restaurants in big cities all around the world and I can honestly say that there are none better than Charleston in Baltimore. You'll find that the food, the ambience, the service, but mostly the food! more than make up for the relatively high prices on the menu. Treat yourself. It's an experience you won't soon forget.

What a great experience!
My wife and I dined here on 9/23/17 to celebrate our anniversary. We were asked to sit in the bar area for a few minutes while waiting for our table, where we each had a glass of wine. When our table was ready, the hostess / wine sommelier approached us by name, and showed us to our table, in the back right room. Very quiet, only about 9 tables there. We were guided through the menu by our waitress, and each chose the 3 course dinner. Everything was fantastic. Also opted for a cheese course, which was awesome as well. Dessert was great too. The chef, Cindy Wolf, made her rounds and talked with us as well. Everyone was professional, friendly and helpful.
Highly recommend the shrimp and grits, and the passion fruit creme brulee for dessert.
Definitely not a restaurant we will frequent (due to the cost), but we want to return soon! We will talk about this meal and experience for a long time.
Jody Hem-Pow
Normally excellent food and service. This time I don't know if the service issues were because we had outside seating or what. However we waited almost 30 minutes past our reservation time to get seated and there were LONG periods between courses. The food was better than most places but for their STANDARDS it was bland and just so so. We're definitely going to give them a chance to redeem themselves in the future but for our 1st night out in months and a special occasion we were disappointed compared to our past experiences here.
Update - to whomever reached out to me after this review from the restaurant wanting my contact info I apologize I have lost your email....
Vincent Madle
I dined at the Charleston in October of 2016. The food was very good. I believe we did the six course which was amazing.
I would say that the dinner itself was not too expensive, however if you drink wine be prepared to rack up a decent check. For two of us our check was a little shy of $1600.00 with a generous tip.
I would most definitely dine here again.
David Parker
Exquisite birthday experience - just a delightful evening. The staff was attentive, kind, and professional; the food was amazing... Incredibly accessible fine dining.
Jeanne Gildee
Simply the best food in Baltimore as well as many other places we’ve experienced globally! We went there for our anniversary and were treated to a bottle of Dom Perignon by two generous gentleman at the bar to celebrate! It can’t get much better than that except that the food was perfection and Tony Foreman as always, suggested the perfect wines to go with the three-course meal. Bravo to the staff and to the owners for allowing us to be part of such a great organization and restaurant !
Mignion Faretta
Absolutely the best dining experience hubby and I have had in a long time. We visited over father's day weekend on a Saturday. As a surprise I booked the 6 course tasting menu for us, we chose six different offerings and split them so we were able to try 12 dishes. All of which were exquisite and delightful. The service was swift and staff friendly. Can't wait to go back for the next season of offerings.
Ryan Whipple
Great place, I was taken here for my birthday last year. It lives up to it's consistent rank at the top of Baltimore's best restaurants. Classy, great service, and obviously great food as well. I didn't try them, but I hear the wine pairings are amazing too.
G Hartman
Extensive wine list, knowledgeable servers, one of the best meals I've had in Baltimore. The money spent is well worth it.
J Dieckmann
We were a party of 5 showing up without a reservation and on the heels of an unpleasant experience at another restaurant. From the moment we came in the door, the staff was exceptional in their welcome, attentiveness, professional demeanor, and experience. We met three regulars at the bar while waiting for our table who made us feel as welcome and included as the staff. The food was exceptional, some of the best ever eaten. Highly recommend and will return.

Great food, great service. Be prepared to drop a pretty penny on dinner. Wish the entree sizes were bigger but it’s a fancy place. The chef was so sweet and nice. She came to our table & talked. Our waitress was so helpful in guiding us in the right direction and giving us input on the history. We will definitely be coming back in the future.
Must try the soup & shrimp and grits!

Came to the Charleston to celebrate my wife's birthday and upon entering to leaving everything was fantastic. This was our second time to The Charleston and am already looking forward to our next time. Len was so knowledgeable and good natured he just added to the evening. The food was exquisite and the atmosphere gorgeous. Thank you Charleston for another great evening!

One word can sum up my experience at the Charleston... Perfection.
My boyfriend surprised me with dinner here for our third anniversary this past Saturday and I was beyond impressed. The wait staff is extremely friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The menu is diverse without being too big. The food was delicious! I have absolutely no complaints.
Thank you for helping make our anniversary so special.
Rosemary Reiss
Delicious food and great service. What a wonderful way to celebrate a special occasion. So worth it!
Alyssa Galaro
I LOVE the Charleston. Not only is the food fantastic, but the waiters and waitresses are superb. Everyone is so friendly and attentive and the service is fast. My friends and I chose the "three course" meal where you can choose any 3 things from the menu and I was surprised how filling it was. The portions are fairly large and it comes with a free dessert! That was possibly my favorite part. Second favorite was their absolutely amazing passionfruit cocktail!
Carol Harkins
Wonderful evening! From the time we walked in the door, until we left, the service and experience was superb. We especially enjoyed the lobster soup, lamb chop and scallops, but since the entire menu consists of small plates, there is a lot to sample. Desserts were special too. Well worth a visit.
Savannah Barreca
The most magnificent dining experience. The Chef is a genius. The food is divine, the ambiance is lovely, and the service is exquisite. All employees are exceptionally knowledgeable, professional, and kind. I cannot wait to go back with my husband!
Micheal Double
Went here when the wife and I dropped the boy off at John's Hopkins university. Many firsts for the three of us. The waiters were very nice and patient with us small town folks and walked us through the menu. This certainly was not my class of food but figured if I'd spoil the boy (he was very excited). I'm far too uncultured to appreciate this caliber of food and thus gave most of my $100 4 course meal to my son. My son made out like a fat rat! Oh yeah, first time getting my valets. Overall, I'll will not be going again but such a great experience

Second visit to The Charleston and it was great again! High end restaurant that gives high end service and a wonderful dining experience. Special group event so we had set menu with 6 courses. All were excellent. Lobster soup with curry was outstanding. Excellent wine selection.
Michael Anthony
From the moment you walk in, you will be noticed and pampered, educated and enticed. Guests are paced gradually through smartly chosen, well-executed meals, to which the servers are very knowledgeable about. The wine pairings are a decadent chance to be surprised and take your flavor beyond, the bottle is brought to you for an introduction and poured with care. The manager visits to check for quality service and the additional staff are as intuitive as they are observant. The vallet service is prompt and effective. Must experience at least once.
Susan L
We loved our dinner at Charleston. Being able to choose from a large tasting menu helped. My favorite dish was the rabbit, while my husband loved the cauliflower (the crab cake was also the best he had in Baltimore).
Jordan Weimersheimer
Dined for Mother’s Day which had a menu specifically designed for that day. While we had a typical stellar greeting at Charleston, I must sadly say, our server less than impressed. He was quite condescending at times in fact. All of the others that assisted us were nothing but a joy. Overall the food was very good. The halibut was unfortunately rather dry and flavorless. The one thing that actually floored me was how poor the macaroni and cheese was. Nothing you expect from this establishment, more out of something from a box. On a good note, the scallops were amazing and desserts were to die for.
J H
Truly a last century, classical restaurant experience. Everything about the place screams high class, without coming off as arrogant. The servers make you feel special, and are incredibly knowledgeable about the food. The food itself is, well, close to a spiritual experience. Such attention to detail, such care and perfectionism, and the dedication of an establishment that truly believes in its product, make this one of the best places out there.
Heidi van de Wouw
I've been here two times. Very good wine selection however I wish there was a more diverse food selection, as in there was little to no change in the menu from both times I visited- and when one's tastes change very little and one orders 5 dishes at a time there is very little exploration in dining. The best service in Baltimore though!
Adam Kwiatkowski
Charleston's regular menu is always fabulous, and the service is impeccable, pleasant, and unobtrusive. One member of my party was vegan, and we gave them a week of notice. The results were very good, but not spectacular, mostly due to a paucity of protein. Charleston seems happy to accommodate vegans, but vegans won't be blown away as carnivores will.
Michael Bradley
Spectacular in every way. Went for our first anniversary, and we were treated like family. The food was beyond words, and the price isnt that bad considering we had to practically roll ourselves back to our car.
Ari Z
Service is fantastic, drinks are amazing, and the food is absolutely delicious with nice portions. Had the opportunity to meet Chef Wolf and thank her for an amazing night out. My wife and I will 100% be back.

Not knocking Baltimore. It’s a great town. But I never really considered it a gastronomic destination. Until now. This place confused my senses. Were we in Brussels? London? Madrid? From the moment you walk in, the staff treats you like you’re truly special to them. But it’s the food, really. Imaginative without being gimmicky. Prepared expertly and served in a quiet and elegant atmosphere. Oh yeah, this doesn’t come cheap. But you won’t feel like you’ve spent too much (well, at least you’ll feel you’ve gotten your money’s worth!)...
Marion Nelson
With so much to choose from, Len throughly went over the menu. When none of the 6 of us could decide since everything looked so good, Len suggested that we go with the Chef's Choice along with wine pairings. Every single dish that came out was absolutely delicious. Don't worry about the amount of food, which was my main concern, because while they are all small plates believe me it's ample food
Wilbur Weaver
An intimate and relaxed atmosphere for this 28 seats restaurant in Hackney. I won't say much about the food because it changes weekly, but the thought and the execution were both in all the 4 courses when I went there at the end of June. Highly recommended and I will come back as soon as possible to see how it keeps the level of the food week in week out. Great.
Dan Pevear
This is a fixed price menu, depending on the number of small dishes you order. Every dish ranged from very good to excellent. Service was outstanding. Ambiance was lovely (we were in the "wine library"). Lobster bisque and seared scallop were highlights as was the creme brulee. Highly recommended.
Nikita Bayliffe
In town at the Marriott nearby and saw the high ratings. They had a table for one at the last minute and I'm glad they did. Impeccable service, excellent food. I went for 4 dishes (you can choose between 3 and 6) and that was the perfect amount. Everything was good, but the caramelized cauliflower on polenta with mushrooms (and oodles of butter) was other-wordly. One of the best dishes I've had anywhere. Only mild disappointment was the sorbet, which I thought was way too sweet. I'll be back next time I'm in B'more.
Julia Schneider
Loved the Xs and Os Menu!! Such a great experience for Valentines Day! We also did the wine pairings and cheese course!! Loveeeeee The ambiance is very nice both comfortable but not too stuffy The service was quick to warm up to us despite unusual request The food was excellent! And as the title suggested in our small group we got to try the while menu ! The highlight were the sweat breads and the beef and an honorable mention for the polenta . Would be happy to be back!

Incredible food served in courses, every dish hit the mark. The chef came out meet all patrons, she's kind, humble and wonderful. Bravo Charleston!
Luis Montes
The only problem with Charleston is that after dining there you will not be able to give 5 stars to any other restaurant. Great food, service and overall experience. Kudos to Jocelyn our waitress who makes us feel at home within the fine dining experience. I would recommend hands down, Charleston anytime.
Karl Anderson
Attentive staff. Enticing selections of delightful food. Choose 3-6 selections from soups, salads, seafood, vegetables to meat dishes. Amazing wine selection. Full bar. Quite pricy - so enjoy for a special occasion. Plan to spend several hours there. Savor the time with good company. Best of Baltimore.
Ryerson Schwark
Overall, this was a fabulous dinner and experience. The Lobster soup is, indeed, amazing. Also, the room was quiet enough that our whole party had great conversation. I assume they've got acoustic tile or the like to achieve it, but it was great for us. I hate restaurants that get so noisy you can't hear your dinner comrades.
Having eaten at multiple michelin starred restaurants, I'd say this experience, particularly the food, was better than most of those.
Two relatively minor flaws, I mention only because the restaurant seems to read these reviews and might appreciate the comment. I think they were training some new wait staff, and a couple of times they placed the wrong dish in front of one of us. Quickly sorted out, but these are the small notes that some reviewers hang on.
Second, some minor quibbles with dishes. I thought the beet tartare dish too one note. The presentation was beautiful, but it was pretty much just beet flavored. On the beef dish, I thought the olives just a bit too strong flavored for the beef.
But those are pretty minor quibbles for a superlative evening.

Made a short weekend visit to Baltimore and had the pleasure of dining at Charleston. Absolutely nothing was missed, the service was over the top and the food was divine. This was the best meal of my life and will be hard to top. Can't wait to go back next time i'm in Baltimore
Josiah Simpson
Absolutely wonderful experience. My partner and I celebrated a year together by spending an evening having our palettes dazzled. Thank you!

Feel like escaping out of Baltimore to an extravagant place? Go to Charleston. Want to take out someone special for an incredible experience unlike any other? Go to Charleston.
Wow is an understatement for how good of a dinner I had last night at Charleston. I decided to take a good friend out to dinner here for her 30th birthday, and called the day of for reservations. The staff member I spoke to on the phone made sure all of my questions were answered, and took the time to go over the menu/courses with me.
SERVICE: First off, free valet parking was extremely convenient. Upon arrival, we were immediately greeted by the staff members and they wished my friend a happy birthday. Our waiter was extremely professional, and went above and beyond in describing each item on the menu. We spent approximately 2.5 hours in Charleston (be prepared spend a good amount of time here) and had prompt service the whole time we were there.
FOOD: We opted for the 3 course dinner with wine by the glass. I wish I could describe how good each meal was. Before our main courses, our waiter brought out the most delicious bread (one of which was the best cornbread I've ever had.) I started off with the lobster soup then chose truffle oil white fettuccini and then beef sirloin. Each dish was made with extreme detail and flavor. I especially loved that each time a dish was brought to her table, our waiter took the time to describe each dish and how it was prepared.
DESSERT: Man oh man the dessert was also spectacular. We were actually very full by the time we finished our third course but we couldn't resist ordering dessert considering dessert is INCLUDED with all course meals! (So don't skip dessert.) Our waiter recommended a chocolate dessert for me and each bite was to die for. Charleston also put a candle on my guest's dessert for her birthday which was thoughtful. They even brought out a separate tray of tiny dessert delicates as shown in the photo with this review.
All in all, I had the most phenomenal dining experience here. Definitely the most expensive dinner I've ever paid for but it was worth every penny. I plan on taking others here on special occasions in the near future. Thank you charleston for an out of this world dinner experience! I will never forget it.
Clinton Wike
Be perpared for a true five star dinning experience down to the last detail. Not only will you enjoy fresh roses on the table and in the bathroom you get a whole army of staff ready to assist in your dinning adventure. I highly recommend the wine pairing with every course. I once had a soft shelled crab lightly fried in a lemon infused batter that was beyond compare, not only in taste but texture as well.
Therese Canares
Wow wow wow. Can't say enough good things. Dined here for our anniversary and arrived in pouring rain. The valet person met us with an umbrella. We were greeted with "Happy Anniversary " from all the staff. There were so many staff members and every one was knowledgeable on every element of food and drink. One person showed us the cheese cart with a thorough description of each and a different person served it but could tell us every detail of each cheese.
The food portions are small for an average/big person. For me, a petite person, the 3 course meal was more than enough. The quality of the food was incredible. Unique flavors with every bite. Perfectly cooked meats.
The incredible part was the experience due to their attention to detail. My husband picked up the wine menu and a sommelier introduced himself and asked to give guidance on the selection. Another person served us complimentary desserts , like mini petit fours (cookies, macaron, Etc) and my husband took a mini half bite to save the other half for me. A server noticed and gave us a second complimentary serving!
Love the diversity of the staff, both in age and racially. The owners are clearly very thoughtful in how they select and train their staff.
We are making this our anniversary tradition now. Thank you Charleston!
Debi Cossentino
Charleston is really a 10 star restaurant. This is the creme de la creme of restaurants! Oh the flavor explosion is out of this world!
We also have the best server every time we go named Jocelyn. She is the icing on the cake!
Mario Silver
Super lovely location, high end. My boss brought me here to celebrate a new account. I have never experienced such service, now I am spoiled. The sea scallop I had was like eating the chocolate mousse of the sea, so smooth.
Andy Yuan
Phenomenal dining experience. The wait staff was so energetic and excited, it added to the overall experience with the food.
The food was excellent, in display, smell, and taste.
Do yourself a favor and try the foie gras. It's rich in flavor and melts in your mouth.
Matthew Danowski
One of the best Restaurants in Baltimore, if not the east coast, Charleston delivers an ever evolving culinary experience in a very upscale atmosphere. Menu items are ordered on a per-course basis with three to four courses being an average sized meal at a good restaurant. Wine pairings are also available for each course. The food was excellent with emphasis on the curry lobster soup; which appears to be a perennial menu item. The service is what you would expect for such a high end restaurant. The only downside in dining here was the price, but you shouldn't feel that you did not get what you are paying for. Reservations are mandatory.
Hannah Dantrassy
A meal at the Charleston is a wondeful way to treat yourself, no matter the occasion.
I will note that unless you tend to eat a LOT three courses is enough to leave you satisfied. I've done five painfully, and four to a stuffed amount. Next time, my husband and I need to keep it to three. 😆
James Pride
This place is the definition of upscale dining. The dining experience
itself was expensive, but it was very good service and food! I loved the
friendly atmosphere and the staff was polite and attentive. My favorite dish included the lobster burry soup and it was delicious! I will definitely be coming back here soon, one of the best experiences I have had thus far
PT PT
Undecided between 4 stars or 5 stars. Charleston is surely a special place. Not only is it good. One gets the sense that everybody takes their job seriously, and very much want to make sure that all is perfect. The food is great; the portions could be a little bigger. I am not on a diet. LOL. You will be delighted but will not be stuffed. Why would I wobble between 4 or 5 stars. I wish I would get a couple more green beans, perhaps just a couple please, particularly for the price.
Samantha Tourney
I have been thinking about the review I can write; to do justice towards Charleston. We were met with disdain upon entering Charleston. It was our first experience; as we never live in an area long. We were a party of four and subjugated ourselves to a drink in the bar while waiting for our reservation.
We did not, personally, have an issue to wait, but the first responders acted, breathlessly, that we might not be okay. Eventually, we were told our table was ready. Our drinks would be taken to our table. We were allowed to have, in my opinion, the best table in Charleston. Charleston has an open kitchen; that is memorizing for those who admire the orchestra of a gorgeously run kitchen. The calmness. The beauty. No yelling or screaming; is it not one in the same? Our party of four ordered four courses each. Now, I will dissect. The Fresh Artichoke Soup is divine; truffle oil. The Grilled Veal Sweetbread was soft and magical. The Pan Roasted Wild Halibut, took the breath away...the mushrooms; oysters. The Steak Tartare was luxurious. The Salad Gourmande is perhaps one of the best articles I have put in my mouth. There were missteps with the food. The Rich Lobster Soup with Curry; the pieces of lobster were overcooked. At the time, two people in my party had the Grilled Venison Tenderloin. While they were supposedly the same dishes, one of my party members said they received, little sweet potatoe puree, and too much sauce. Not consistent.
The service at Charleston is the best we have had in America. If you have a crumb on your plate, it is replaced. All dishes are explained when placed on the table. Your utensils are replaced. Your bread and water are always replenished. The personality of the staff, is what hospitality should consist of. The BEST.
Ms. Wolf, thank you for the food and experience.
Julia Gonzales
Thank you for an absolute lovely evening. My husband and I celebrated our 30th. Anniversary this evening. The food and service can not be beat. I love that you offer such class to to the culinary world. The service that you provide is a dying art. I just want you to know how much we appreciate your lovely restaurant . Can't wait to come back soon. Cheers!!
Kim C
My husband and I went here for our 1st anniversary and it was fantastic! The food was amazing, do yourself a favor and try the grilled duck. The service was on point and exceptional. We will definitely be going back. Definitely a new favorite.
Candice Isaac
Nice food & wonderful service from the moment we were seated to the moment you depart. The price tag is high, which I knew going in. I was however, surprised by the serving size.
I know fine dining establishments don't typically serve large portions, which I don't desire anyway. I do, however, expect to leave feeling satisfied, which I wasn't.
The food was well presented and tasted wonderful. The seafood and meat were prepared perfectly. I just wish I had a little more.
One of my courses was a lamb chop. I was served a single chop that was so small I nibbled it like a mouse to preserve the experience. The serving size of my desert (cheesecake) was about 3 tablespoons and tasted very tart. I could haved used about a quater cup more of the delicious lobster bisque because it was gone after about 5 spoonfuls.
After four courses, several glasses of water, a margarita, & coffee I left there feeling hungry. I thought it was just me, but others in our party felt the same so we grabbed wings afterwards.
Having to buy food afterwards was a big dissapointment after we spent about $1100 with tax & gratuity.
The restaurant is not really worth a second trip for me. I may go back to the bar because the drinks were delcious and not too over priced.
StarKaifeng
The tasting menu was incredible. Tip for anyone's first time. 6 courses was a lot of food (I eat a lot also) so I think 4 is plenty, especially since the 4 is not including dessert.
Ryan T
Intimate atmosphere, attentive/knowledgeable servers and a well paced, unrushed dining experience. My girlfriend and I were very excited to try this restaraunt for the first time and we were not disappointed. Everything was top notch from the cocktails to the after dinner macaroons.
Evelyn Bradley
So amazing in every way. Chef Cindy is a maestra of cuisine. Each dish is amazingly tasty and made with exquisite care. Every detail is attended to. This was our fourth visit to Charleston and we are blown away every time. Think of it as a mini-vacation, not a meal.
Graff Corby
Cindy Wolf and her employees are incredible and the results are great food and service.

Charleston is really in a class by itself in Baltimore. There's nothing else in town like it. No other restaurant serves food this exquisitely prepared, where every single ingredient, but also every single element of the service, the atmosphere, the decor, the wine, are so immaculately presented. It's also the most expensive restaurant in town, but it can justifies it. We can't afford to go regularly - we can have 3 outrageously expensive dinners elsewhere for the price of one meal at Charleston - but if someone asks "what's the best restaurant in town?" there is simply not another answer. We've had several tremendous meals there, each time revealing something about an ingredient or a dish in a novel way that is really genius. So many great little dishes and experiences. The only oyster my wife has ever enjoyed. The best mushrooms I have ever eaten.
Simply incredible proteins. Obviously Cindy Wolf knows what she is doing, given her array of great restaurants in town, but Charleston stands alone, as it enjoys her most focused attention. It's an intimidating place given the price point and the almost hushed sense of silence and reverence you feel in the place - but our most memorable experience has more to do with NOT being gourmands than otherwise. My wife sent back a bottle of wine that she really didn't enjoy, and the sommelier could not have been more gracious, offering up several other bottles that she also didn't enjoy. Mind you, these were not corked, just not to her taste. The somm was outstanding, generous and even offered to bring us wines by the glass that might be more to our (very uneducated) palates. He proceeded to give a master class in wines; the piece de resistance was when he brought back the first (rejected) bottle (without letting us see the label), which had since had an opportunity to open up and was now properly paired with food and opened palates. The once-rejected bottle was now a star. Absolutely genius - probably the best experience I have ever had in a restaurant. All done without arrogance or snootiness... just an absolutely sublime display of knowledge, graciousness, and customer service.
Gregg Palmer
How do you say anything more about one of the best restaurants in Baltimore. Please just go and let them give you the best dinning experience you can have. The menu changes every day. I can't ever get past the lobster soup. Shrimp and grits are a sure bet. Cindy Wolf has been wowing Baltimore for years. Just go. Celebrate a special occasion. You won't regret treating yourself to a wonderful dinning experience.
Mary
Thank you, Charleston's, for a most wonderful anniversary dinner. The service - exemplary; the food - extraordinary; the atmosphere - so relaxing. We cannot say "thank you" enough. Sincerely, Mary & Bruce
Daniel Call
This restaurant offers a sublime dining experience. The service level from the moment you walk in the door is top tier. Every employee is focused on delivering an outstanding dining experience. The 3-6 course approach to dining is fresh and engaging.
Be sure to get the Beenleigh Blue during the cheese course!
Kimberly Ward
The service from the time we arrived until we left was from last century. We were made to feel special and everything was seamless. It is impressive the knowledge that multiple servers have. On a busy Friday evening, Chef Cindy Wolff found time to speak to the patrons. The plates of food were the absolute best.
Marc Easton
I proposed to my fiancee earlier in the day and we capped our celebration off at The Charleston. The entire staff is phenomenal, the service impeccable, the food incomparable! I'm out of adjectives, but can't say enough good things. Cindy personally stopped by our table twice. She is far too modest - her and Tony have built something incredible.
Feijie Zhao
Been here two times in a year. My wife lived in Paris for 3 years before she move to Baltimore and she loves the food here. The price is very reasonable compare to the food and service you get. Highly recommended restaurant in DC area and definitely the best French restaurant in Baltimore.
Sandy Curran
Don't go to Charleston to eat. Go here for a dining experience. The food is all well prepared and well presented, if scant. I believe whether or not you find a particular dish or "course" exceptional or not depends on your personal taste. Two of the dishes that were highly recommended by our waiter fell short for me. One was panroasted rockfish with mushrooms, the other was shrimp and grits. For me, the rockfish was pleasant, but apparently, the waiter thought it was excellent and my husband loved it. The shrimp and grits was also unexceptional to me, I make better. Also, it consisted of one shrimp, butterflied and twisted to make a presentation, but one shrimp. The other dish that I found more than skimpy was the seviche. 4 paper thin slices of fish approximately 1/2" x 3".....ridiculous? yes.....but exceptional. I can still taste it and loved every minute bite. The sweetbreads with foie gras was also exceptional and memorable, and the lamb chop was delicious. The service was exemplary, subtle, never in your face, graceful and nothing was missed. But the true experience is the Sommelier. You would expect a restaurant that prides itself on its cellar to have an excellent sommelier. You would not be disappointed. But, to be excellent, a sommelier needs only to be deeply knowledgeable and professional, which she is. What she also is is warm, friendly, charming and beyond helpful. I learned more about wine chatting with Linah over the course of dinner than in any other time....ever. She clearly loves what she does and helps you to love it too. Without Linah, I would have been impressed with the quality of the service and presentation. With Linah, I had a delightful and memorable dining experience.
gregory shankman
This is a most wonderful place to ear. The service is superb.
Sergio Falcone
The best restaurant in Baltimore.
Quality, Service, Ambiance great cocktails at Bar.
Peter the Manager is number one! Thanks for everything.
Wednesday night my Wife and I had fantastic time celebrating our anniversary.
John Hwang
A fantastic restaurant in Baltimore! I had 5 course meal with the matched wine. The food was excellent while the matched was good enough. The service was very attentive all night. I will return here soon.
Xu Han
Our recent visit to this place was generally satisfying. The food was mostly good as well as the service. The reason I gave four stars out of five is because the dishes the waiter suggested us to change to was not very good and the waiter also suggested us to switch entree to small plate but it turned out the four-course dinner didn't make me very full.
Maria Morucci
Charleston has the very best lobster bisque I have ever had! We joke about going and getting this for all of our menu choices. The atmosphere is warm, the service is outstanding and the food is delicious!
Eric Mesa
This place is quite delightful - my wife and I love to come here for anniversaries or milestone birthdays. It's too pricey to come more often or else we would. My favorite thing about the menu is that it's seasonal so you're getting the best-tasting food for that time of year.
My favorite items are the tartare, the curry lobster bisque, and the corn chowder. Their buffalo steak is also great.
It's a fixed price menu - for a certain price you get to pick how many entrees you get. They're small, but when you also count the bread you're eating and the included dessert, I usually get really full.
Speaking of dessert, I find that it's always the weakest part of any Tony Foreman/Cindy Wolfe restaurant. That also applies here.
Madeline Adkins
This is the finest restaurant in Baltimore, hands down. Perhaps in the Mid-Atlantic. The service is always impeccable, and the food!! Gah! Don't miss the rich lobster soup with curry (with the wine pairing!) but really you can't go wrong.
M Reaves
Classic restaurant from a phenomenal ownership team. We always have a great meal here. I love the wine list because you can get excellent value or spend a small fortune on a very hard to find gem. We had an excellent Puligny Montrachet and were treated to a conversation with the sommelier to discuss the wine.
John Papanicolaou
I'm surprised to read so many people talking about cost. Did you not even look at the menu or a review before making a reservation? This place is worth every penny, and more. Service is remarkable, staff is knowledgeable, and the food is some of the best we've ever had. You get what you pay for in this world, and this is a perfect example of that. They require a jacket, I hope that doesn't imply to some that they're getting out of there for under $100. I would recommend the Charleston to anyone who knows fine dining. I'd give it 6 Stars if they'd let me!
Sam Hurd (Photography)
From Paris to Italy... NYC to London. I’ve been to many many fine dining restaurants all over the world... this is one of my all time favorites. Easily in the top 3 and #1 depending on my mood. So lucky to have in Baltimore and I can’t wait to return!
Samuel Watson
I've heard similar hype about other Baltimore institutions. Di Pasquale's actually lives up to the hype. Went on a miserable drizzly afternoon and left completely satisfied and cheered. Parking is not easy in this area, but it is worth taking a few minutes to find a space. Everything ordered was really solid. The breads were fresh and warm, meats lean...
Amanda Cameron
This place is amazing!! I never ask for the chefs name but the beef Wellington was the best of my life and Daniel son made it AMAZING. Definitely recommend
Chris
Our favorite date night place, Chef Cindy does an amazing job changing it up and introducing you to new tastes. You have to keep coming back to appreciate this.
The Best food in Baltimore. Hands down.

After dying to try Charleston for what seems like eons, I brought my husband in for his birthday yesterday and let me just say: WOW! Everything, from the atmosphere, to the knowledgable staff, to the gorgeously plated and delectable entrees, was top notch. (I daresay the best I've had in my life.) My husband cannot stop praising the quail and I was just floored by the scrumptuous venison course! It was his birthday, but I got to experience truly a wonderful dining expererience. The attention to detail was absolutely amazing. For example: one of the waiters surreptitiously caught my husband using his fingers to scoop up the last bits of a sauce and brought him a hot towel with lemon for his fingers between courses! Better still, it was a cold evening and the valet had my car at the front door warm and ready when we exited. What an amazing evening. 10/10 will return for our next special occasion.
Melanie T
Second dining experience and didn't disappoint. Service attentive and pacing was on point. Nice not to be rushed. Thank you all for a delightful night!

so... where to start this place is hands down the best place I've ever eaten the service was the most informed, courteous, amazing i don't have enough time to write how amazing they are. The food ... was stunning it was truly a spiritual experience, we have eaten at a lot of very well known restaurants and this was far better, spend the money its worth it. thank you again for the wonderful experience!
Dona
I was treated to a retirement dinner here and let me just say it was fabulous. The bartender heard my dinner guest say she liked sparkling water and the next thing I knew she had a glass of sparkling water. The food was AMAZING!!!!!! I will be back.
Tre Williams
Fine dinning at it's best. The entre' were prepared to perfection. The bartender Giovanni was very knowledgeable of the menu and made the experience that much better. Please come dress to the nines seeing this is a very formal and elegant experience.
Chris Fournier
Food and service were on key. The only reason the restaurant didn't get 5 stars. Was out TABLE.. who puts a table in front where they're wine glasses were kept. Staff constantly reaching behind me all during my meal.
Larry Buckendorf
Absolutely the best dining experience I have had in 10 years. My son and I enjoyed a phenomenal 2.5 hour dinner with excellent service and insight .Peter and Jocelyn are experts. Well done!
Mark Anthony
This is hands down the best restaurant I’ve ever been in my life. Service, Food, Vibes & Wine Selection was A1. I think anyone who lives or visits Baltimore must experience this place. Very very pleased
Barbara White
We've been to the original Chaps but decided to try the new location because it was closer to 95. We were not disappointed. Same great sandwiches, very clean restaurant (we watched them cleaning the exhaust hoods while there, plus the bathroom was spotless), plenty of seating and excellent friendly service. Absolutely Amazing! From the moment your car door is opened from the polite valet operaters, to the extremely proffesional wait staff, to coffee and bonbons after your meal, I felt as if I was the only person in the resturant. Not to mention each course was served with extreme persicion. Each course was absolutley amazing and cooked to the highest of standards! I had the honor of meeting Chef Cindy Wolf! She made the time to visit me during my meal and made us feel incredibly important! After our superior meal, we were invited by Chef Wolf to see her kitchen. Not only did she make time for us, but also made us feel welcome! This was the best service/meal I've ever had by far! Will definetly be returning soon!
Matthew Bromeland
The service was impeccable and the food was outstanding. Everything from the first course to finish exceeded expectations. Incredible wine list with thoughtful service from the sommelier. Look forward to our next visit!

Always a special eating experience at Charleston. Could have used a little background music for ambiance. Place is great for special occasions
Melinda Sawyer

Jimmy Torres
This is a very good restaurant serving new American fare. We enjoyed pretty much anything we ordered. The atmosphere was upper end but relaxed. The service was excellent......try the lobster curry soup
Erik Dodds
I've eaten there a number of times, and every time the food and service has been top notch. The wait staff is very well trained to know what they are serving. The best fine dining in Baltimore.
Charles Scott
Great service and great food! Made a reservation early afternoon of 1/12 for later that evening and when we arrived our table was ready. For the price of the food, the carbonated beverages should only be charged once with unlimited refills
Elizabeth Gall
The Charleston is Baltimore's best fine dining. Full stop. Other places may be new, hotter, or getting more buzz, but if you want to know How It's Done, the Charleston puts other places to shame. Service is perfect - knowledgeable waiters in jackets who seem to know exactly when they're needed. (You'll never be giving someone a thumbs up with your mouth full when they ask a question.) I applaud Cindy Wolfe for sticking to a multi-course tasting menu and classic service with the push towards this weird yuppie faux-casual attitude in food these days. Let the Charleston take care of you - it's what they excel at.
A Barnes
My favorite restaurant in Baltimore. Never disappoints. Service is always great and food is excellent. Also have good wine and cocktails.
EMONEY
Atmosphere was excellent the service was on point. BUT for the money I've had better food and more quantity. I'll never waste that kind of money again in this place.
Marshall Daum
For as expensive of a dinner as it was, food was very bland. Specifically the Ribeye, which 1) was not bone in as advertised, 2) was only 14oz and 3) wasn't a very high select choice of meat. Party of 6 took well over 3 hours.
Sierra Yelity-Paul
This restaurant has one of the most amazing cuisines in the state of Maryland. It truly lives up to it's name Charleston and standards. This resurgent is a place celebrations (engagement, anniversaries, and birthday) or if your looking to take someone on a amazing date. If you have every been to London or Europe the portions are just right, rich, savory, and very filling. The food makes you feel like your in the movie "Simply Irresistible" everything makes you happy and feeling of love. The staff goes out of it's way to make sure your experience is rememberable and perfect. I can't wait to go back and be welcome by amazing Maître d'Hotel Mr. Kalada Neimieboka.
Scott Churchill
The food was excellent. The format made for a great dining experience. Pick how many courses and select what you want from a list of 15 or 20 items with or without pairing.
Definately worth the trip.

Food was delicious and the staff was courteous and respectful, even when a rude customer threatened to defectate on the floor because staff asked her politely to put on a mask to use the bathroom.... (See one star reviews for reference).
