Reviews of South City Kitchen Midtown
Minh Hua
A modern southern cuisine type of place. The interior design is clean, simple and contemporary. The service was excellent. The food was okay. My fried chicken was a bit salty. The biscuits were light and flaky. The grits were modest and over reliant on the gravy. My friend says the pimento cheese was excellent.
Dallas Davisson
This was my first time here. Service was excellent and food was great. The Maryann & Ginger bourbon cocktail was tasty. GA Peach salad with blue cheese was a surprisingly good combo. Entrees....
Shrimp and grits - shrimp a bit overcooked but other wise very good
Fried chicken livers, onions and corn - to die for
Trout - delicious and just spicy enough

Came here with a small group of about 5 people and left very full and happy. The ambience is old southern home, right down to the nostalgic narrow wooden staircase to the second floor. We sampled most of the recommended dishes. Some favorites included the fried green tomatoes and the cornbread for appetizers; the pork chops, fried chicken, and butcher steak for entrees; and all three desserts. 🙈 For me especially the chocolate-caramel and the banana pudding. The location is pretty great too, with a lot of nightlife right around the corner.
Austin Fan
The fried chicken was well cooked and the complimentary cornbread and biscuits were amazingly good! We had the liver appetizer dish, which was interesting yet tasty. Service was also great. I recommend making a reservation as it can be busy, especially on weekends, which is when we went.

The restaurant is absolutely delicious! Come hungry, between the complimentary cornbread and biscuits, dinner, and dessert, you’ll be very full! We enjoyed the fried green tomatoes, the goat cheese they are made with is on point. We also enjoyed the southern fried chicken and the shrimp and grits. The devils food cake dessert was good too, perfect for sharing - it was a little fluffy and not too heavy.

Deep fried chicken must try and even the side mashed potatoes and greens were awesome! I love tomato 🍅 and so maybe I'm biased...Fried Green Tomatoes also another must try, so juicy and perfect balance with the goat cheese. Chicken Livers was just ok nothing special. Overall everything was superb ☺️

I typically go to the Vinings location but we decided to pop in the Midtown location while in the area.
The service and bartender were nice. Food was pretty good as well. I
always love their corn bread muffins. The she crab soup is tasty. This occasion I tried the Carolina trout which was good. I didn’t care for the taste of the spaghetti squash so they were able to swap it out for mashed potatoes. Their fried chicken is also always a hit. This time around, I tried their Apple upside down cake and it was tasty as well.

Had a great dinner experience here. No reservation for a 2 top but we were sat right away (pleasant surprise!) but you may want a reservation as the place was packed. Our server was friendly and the food was great, really really flavorful. I had the fried chicken and would definitely order again. I would recommend this place in a heartbeat!

Went here this afternoon, with the ladies for brunch! It was all our first time there. The food was good and came out hot. If you go, make sure to make reservations. I ordered the springer mountain fried chicken and malted buttermilk waffle with a side of skillet potatoes. They do have mimosas and other drink beverages as well during brunch. It was worth it! Plus if you go on Sundays, Free Street parking and parking across the street for $20. Not bad at all.
Tony “Tiger” Rogers
I have the Fried chicken, collard greens, and mashed red bliss potatoes. And I will say that the chicken is fried to perfection. And the potatoes were so creamy and delicious. I actually love how they had the collard greens seasoned. I had the upside down peach cake for dessert which turned out to be different but DELICIOUS. Overall this is a GREAT place to dine. Definitely will go back the next time I am in Atlanta GA.

Delicious food and plenty of seating! We went for brunch and started with mimosas and fried green tomatoes. The fried green tomatoes had goat cheese in them and they were delicious! Warning, if you don’t like pulp, ask about this before ordering a mimosa here. I loved it but I know some don’t. Then we moved on to the entree which we got the pimento burger with fries and the shrimp and grits. Both are pictured and were delicious. The fries that came with the pimento burger were very well seasoned and they served this sauce with it that tasted like a cajun bbq ranch. It was delicious. Definitely recommend for a group of friends, family and there were even plenty of business people there having lunch. It was a quiet atmosphere when we were there but the restaurant was probably only at about 20% capacity. They recommend making reservations.

This place really surprised us! Food was perfect! The biscuits changed my life, I have never had biscuits like that. Fried tomatoes great also. We also had the crab cake and the fried chicken (the pictures are of half the actual dish as the kitchen kindly split it for us). Our server (Sydney I believe?) was lovely, the perfect levels of attentive without being overbearing.
Eriel L
The food was great! I really enjoyed my salad, and the fried chicken was very good. I underwhelmed with desert- it was good but I wouldn’t order it again. Parking in that lot across the street is $20, so try to find somewhere else to park and walk!
Taylor Collier
WOW! I was thoroughly impressed with the Brunch at South City as were my family. We enjoyed the drinks and the food. Its definitely a tight space but worth the wait. Our server was very dry and inattentive but we still enjoyed ourselves. I had the King Biscuit and boooyyyy did it rule!!! I had sworn off bread until i had this and made an exception. Please add this place to your list its one of a kind.

Is it possible to sue a place for being SOOO GOOD!?!? The moment that I walked in the service was immaculate. Our waitress Jerry..baby she a HUGE help in deciding what to get, everything she said was good….IT WAS BETTER THAN GOOD!! The food was AMAZING!!! I know when I come back I’m trying the other items that she mentioned as well. If y’all want some good chicken and service, come visit them.
Chris Fleming
This is an amazing spot. The waitress was awesome, great ambiance, good music and the food..... EVERY DISH I HAD WAS INCREDIBLE! From the chicken and pecan waffles to the she-crab soup, everything was good. Definitely planning to revisit this spot.
Rachel Hanna
Fantastic restaurant with great service! We had our reservation made here through our Pack Up and Go trip. I got the fried chicken and my husband got the smokey pork chop. Both were fantastic choices! We also got the peach upside down cake to finish off our dinner. We loved our experience here and would definitely recommend it!

I love bring friends from out of town to South City Kitchen Midtown. It’s a great place for southern food. For pride, I made reservations two weeks in advance because they book up early.
The service here is top notch. The best you can get in midtown. I ordered the southern classic, chicken and waffles. It does not disappoint. The chicken is crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. The Waffle is amazing by itself but made better with a little maple syrup and chicken.
If you are in town for the first time or live here and are looking for an amazing food experience, you will not be disappointed by coming to South City Kitchen Midtown.
Elizabeth Tam
Great spot for fine dining southern food. My favorite dish was the fried green tomatoes, the cornbread and the brisket. The fried chicken was very tasty, however I had higher expectations as every had hyped it up. The staff is very fun and attentive. There are also good cocktails.
Christa Sherman
I will say the service was exceptional and great atmosphere. The fried green tomatoes were also really good! The waffle however tasted like the free breakfast they serve at hotels so that was disappointing. We definitely paid for the experience more so than the food.
Maria Korosso
Great food and service. We went late but they were very accommodating.
Fried green tomatoes were a good appetizer and so was the fried chicken.
Jonathan Gattis
The food is amazing. It’s a higher price point but I feel the food is well worth it. Wait staff is attentive and great with advisement for first time visitors. My only complaint is that the dining room can get quite loud for any intimate or quiet conversation.
Richard Wilborn
Wow! Such a great place to eat....and we sat at the bar. (It was packed on a Wednesday night) The service was A+. The food was A+. The service was A++. This is a place to go and enjoy an excellent meal with friends. Next time I'm in Atlanta, I know I'm eating here again.
Christopher Bridgland
Every time we come to Atlanta we come back to this brilliant little restaurant.
Fried chicken — always consistent. Tasty and plentiful of collard greens. Cheesy grits is a treat. And fantastic cocktails.
Great staff, always accommodating.
Maling Sun
First meal in Atlanta from checking into hotel to drop luggage off we walked to South City Kitchen Midtown. We had fried chicken on my mind. I did make reservations on Open Table.
I felt a bit underdressed as we came off our flight. The restaurant was really busy considering it's a late lunch on a weekday. That is telling how great this restaurant is.
We had to order Springer Mountain Farms Fried Chicken with collard greens, mashed red bliss potatoes and honey thyme jus.
The fried chicken is crispy, savoury and tender and so so so delicious!
Our server was amazing who made great conversation with us and recommended dishes to us. I knew we were going to have an amazing time in Atlanta with the fantastic southern hospitality.
Richard Padilla
great spot in Midtown for modern twists on classic Southern cuisine. I had the Braised Goat and it was an astonishing dish; goat was very tender, sweet potato dumplings were very tasty, and good portion of everything. Cannot go wrong with anything on the menu. Beautiful presentation, kind staff, and great ambience.
Eric N
This is a decent place for the price of the food. I would say the fried chicken is like any other fried chicken there are much better places that cost a lot less than what the fried chicken was worth here. The dining area is very nice but I would say the price of the food was way overpriced. The king biscuit was good though but the rest were alright.
Anton & Maxine Clothing
Their fried chicken and mash potatoes were very delicious. I chose brussels sprouts instead of greens.
It was my birthday and I got a dessert on the house.
Staff was very friendly and good.
A place I highly recommend.

We asked Siri while driving for food nearby and found this gem in Midtown while visiting Atlanta. Pleasant experience for lunch. Our waiter Pablo was attentive and friendly. I had the fried green tomatoes and she-crab soup. My husband had the chicken livers which were beautifully presented and surprisingly delicious; that dish alone has left me resolved to return and enjoy again. Highly recommend.

This place doesn't need my adoration, let alone another five star review. I'm just here to pile on and express my love for South City Kitchen. This might be my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. Granted, I’m new to the city and my dining experiences here are limited, but I have already been here twice and will come again anytime I’m close. And I already know that this is a must with anyone who comes to visit. First off, the service is exceptional. The staff is friendly, attentive, and engaged with their customers. They take time with you and seem very invested in making your meal a great experience. Second, this place has a great ambiance and a nice energy, which makes your dining experience feel more special. And last but not least, the food is terrific. I can’t say enough about the fried chicken and or fried green tomatoes. But their baked goods, crab cakes, salads, and sandwiches have all been perfectly executed and nicely presented. And the cocktails we’ve had reflect a great attention to detail and craft. Seriously, I’m blown away. If you’re looking for a great contemporary southern dining experience, or just a great restaurant, South City Kitchen is a must.
Chip Jenkins
South City Kitchen did not disappoint!! Highly recommend if you are looking for some of the best food you will have! We enjoyed their She Crab Soup and their Fried Chicken for brunch. It was the BEST we have ever had and cured our desire for Great Southern Food!
Service was excellent. This is a true team environment, the staff is professional, timely, friendly, and detailed.
Diinonn V Brooks
Mom & I absolutely loved the atmosphere, soft music and the server Harvey was outstanding and he took the time out to explain certain dishes on the menu. And being a server take hard work. He took the 🍽️ that was empty right away! Brovo Harvey Brovo 😁😁😁😁😁😁 Our food was delicious
Phile S
Loved my time here. From the welcome from the servers to the food, everything was just impeccably done. Definitely one of the best meals I’ve had in a while.
Julian Andrews
South City Kitchen Midtown provides a delicious brunch. We visited on a Sunday morning and ordered The King Biscuit and the Egg White Frittata. While waiting for the food to come out, they provided complimentary biscuits and corn muffins (corn inside). Everything was delicious, the biscuit dish worked really well and the gravy was tasty. The frittata was a much larger portion than expected so come hungry if you order that. The potatoes were well-seasoned and the sausage was good.
A couple of additional notes - they do not serve cocktails until 11 am and there is a parking lot around the corner for $10 if you can’t find street parking.
rodney munoz
Authentic and staff made great recommendations. The collard greens were perfect and probably the best in the midtown area. Service and courtesy was beyond expectations. .
Michelle Ostlie
Not from ATL but was visiting for my birthday and had breakfast that morning at South City Kitchen midtown with a friend. It was absolutely delicious! I had the king biscuit pictured here. My friend had the chicken and waffles. Super busy place. Staff were very friendly and accommodating. Its beautifully decorated with seating upstairs and downstairs as well as a nice patio. We sat at the bar watching Executive Chef Spotkill flawlessly execute the whole culinary experience for those of us eagerly waiting to enjoy his and his staff's creations. I couldn't imagine my birthday starting off any better than that.
Najee Kitchens
My group ordered a lot of the appetizers and the best one I tried was the she crab soup. It’s small but delicious. For my main entree, I ordered the fried chicken with mash potatoes and collard greens. I was surprised that the chicken was not dry in the middle! Very good.
Jennifer Knight
I’ve been here twice. Food and drinks are delicious. This is a must go to spot and a great place to entertain friends. Staff is kind and considerate. Price is reasonable. Family friendly and business friendly.

If you’re looking for a fantastic brunch with Southern flair and friendly service, then South City Kitchen Midtown is your spot.
To start, they bring a basket of cornbread and biscuits. It’s the perfect start to brunch, and helps to soak up the boozy brunch cocktails.
I had the Chicken and Pecan Waffles - some of the best I’ve had anywhere. The waffles were crispy and fluffy. The chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection.
My husband ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab cake, and it was pretty spectacular. It’s a very healthy serving of crab, atop grits, frisée, sunny-side up egg and roasted potatoes. I loved the chicken and waffles, but will definitely order the crab cake next time.
Whatever you order, you’ll be incredibly happy.
Tip: If you’re looking for a mellow brunch, make a reservation and go early. There were no lines or crowds. It was quiet enough to hear the music. We were able to get a table outside on the covered patio, with shade and fans to keep cool.
Rick Tillman
Business dinner with set menu. I know it would be better in different setting. Food was good and server did an awesome job for the amount of people. Atmosphere was too noisy.
Fernando Sato Hirata
Probably one of the best fried chicken I ever tried!
The place is very nice and everything I tasted was delicious !
Very friendly and courteous staff!
I highly recommend! And I’d gladly return here when I’m in Atlanta
Erick
The chicken liver starter along with the crab cake and shrimp and grits mains were all delicious. While just part of table service, the biscuit and corncake muffin were so ridiculously good that I regret not asking for more. Definitely a must-eat while visiting Atlanta for an elevated take on southern classics.
Isaac Calvo
Lovely restaurant for drinks and southern cooking. The peach 🍑 salad was delicious and peaches where in season which made it perfect. The pork hop was cooked well and presentation was on point. Overall lovely place with friendly and attentive staff.
Drink selection was also very good. The old fashioned was well made and had their own twist which was a nice touch.
Dessert Peach Pie with Ice-cream was also delicious. Can’t wait to be back to visit.
Tips: Reservation is recommended. We did go on a Wednesday early evening but as time passed we did see a few folks having to wait a little.
Kevin Wanamaker
Great southern food and the service is fantastic. For those needing gluten free food they have many options. The Carolina Trout was delicious and our server brought gluten free bread too. Great place for a drink and a bite in Mid-Town Atlanta.
Hazel Sun
Very fast, friendly, and professional service. We ordered an appetizer and the kitchen split the dish for us perfectly. The chicken and waffle was a huge portion. The waffle was so fluffy and delicious. The chicken breast was very dry. The indoor space was also quite crowded for covid times. Although they accommodated us with outdoor seating.
Haleigh Loughrey
Lovely experience here tonight. Dionna was a lovely server inside and out. Her way with describing the food and her recommendations spot on. Every item she recommended I immediately had to order and her partner for the night David was just as spectacular he was so kind and personal. I couldn’t imagine having a better experience anywhere else. I can’t wait to have a part. Date night here.
Claudio Lener
Delicious traditional southern food! The chicken and waffles was a bit on the expensive side but very tasty nevertheless!

This restaurant was recommended by Pack Up and Go. You might have had soul food before, but South City Kitchen takes it up a notch. My wife and I enjoyed our anniversary dinner here. The food is excellent. I've never eaten spaghetti squash at a restaurant, but their spicy spaghetti squash was on point. The smokey grilled pork chop was perfectly cooked. My wife had their amazing fried chicken. I told my relatives in ATLANTA to try it. I highly recommend South City. You won't be disappointed.
Gary Furbish
Had my Valentine here for brunch yesterday. It was their first visit. It was amazing as always. Our food and service were great. Thank you Calvin and all the staff. We will be back!
L CS
Really lovely dinner with excellent service. We had to wait until about 20 minutes after our reservation time for our table to be ready but we were a large group and they set us up at a long table by the windows, away from the crowded bar, which was great for our group. That initial wait was the only negative. Everyone LOVED their food, from appetizers to desserts. Creative and delicious. The service was attentive and server was very friendly. The manager came over to check on us and recommend things do to on our stay in Atlanta when she discovered we were from out of town. Highly recommend South City Kitchen Midtown.
Amelia
Every time I visit Atlanta I make it a point to eat here.
Always order the Springer Mountain Farms Fried Chicken collard greens, mashed red bliss potatoes. Talk about food with flavor!
Went back for brunch hoping to try the Chicken and Waffles but it was not available. Ended up ordering the Nashville Hot" Fried Chicken our jalapeño hot sauce, house b&b pickles, whit bbq sauce, h&f bun.
WoW!
Willie Boykin
Wow! All I can say is Wow! Absolutely delicious meal! Chicken marinated in butter milk for 48hrs just hits different! The greens were outstanding along with the Cornbread. The perfect meal for a country boy in Midtown. I still can't believe I was off Techwood Dr enjoying a gourmet meal in what's called Midtown now. A lot has changed in The A!
Steven Petryk
genuinely amazing. probably the best fried chicken I’ve ever had. and the fried green tomatoes are bucket list worthy
Derrick
Stopped in for a nice southern dinner based on suggestions from friends and my oh my am I glad they suggested this place! The service was impeccable! Fast, friendly service with knowledgeable staff behind the bar. The food was outstanding! I always watch the pace of staff when dining out and watching how well put together these guys are makes me so happy! You don't see that very often these days.
Hale Croom
Excellent service from the moment we arrived until we departed. Staff was always hustling. We watched as they all seemed to pitch in to keep service moving. Special shout-out to our server Andy. Excellent service and on spot suggestions.
Started with the house version of an old fashioned and a glass of house sauvignon blanc. Braised goat with sweet potato dumplings and kale was a perfect blend of taste. Great version of a shrimp and grits. Spouse has gluten sensitivity. GF version of chicken w/collards and potatoes was a delight. Topped it all off with banana trifle and en espresso.
Compliments to the chef!
We will return and highly recommend to anyone.
Dinah W
The food was really good and fresh! It didn’t take long to receive our food. The service and atmosphere were amazing. I’ll definitely go back!
Giacomo Cerniato
Very tasty food, great beer, excellent service, great atmosphere and super friendly staff. Honest prices. Easy 5*. You won't regret it!
Madeline Lee
This is my favorite place for brunch. I highly recommend it. It's a nice classy atmosphere without being too expensive. The service is some of the best I have ever had, server's are AMAZING. The food is godly! The chef is a artist and you will be wowed even after having eaten here several times. There lunch and dinner is great too but there is just something next level about this restaurants brunch. Please try it, you will fall in love.
Dana Mallard
Outstanding dinner experience. Pork belly was out of this world. Salad with peaches was amazing. We will definitely come back for more.
Paradise Head
Food was absolutely amazing 🤩 hot fresh and a little beyond my expectations as far as flavor my server was Roger who was amazing as well I would definitely go back …

Don't expect friendliness without a reservation, and this was a Monday night. But our waitress was prompt and attentive. Worst dirty martini ever. Food was good but nothing really all that. Seemed to be full of locals getting off work maybe it's a thing with that crowd. I had the seasonal peach salad...don't unless you want to try to show a date you don't eat. My husband had their signature fried chicken. It was good. The side of greens was well cooked and seasoned. We also had the pimento cheese appetizer it was fine. I also tried the lemonade cocktail after the worst martini ever and it was very regular. They used some type of spicy pickled olive in martini. Did the bartender taste his concoction?
L Clark
My 1st visit! Had ceasar salad with fried chicken. It's a full fried chicken breast on salad, not small fried chicken pieces. Very, very delicious!!! Waitress was very pleasant and knowledgeable of menu! (young, black girl, forgot her name). Didn't wait long for food to come out! Also tried fried green tomatoes, which was good as well. Will visit again
pouchon bien aime
We had. Business dinner with our team of 20 people. We had family style appetizers, fried green tomatoes, she crab soup and pimento cheese. All excellent! I had the trout with spiral zucchini and Brussels with garlic whit was delicious. Service was excellent and prices reasonable. Atmosphere relaxed and not too loud. Would go back!
Jessica Cain
The fried green tomatoes and shrimp and grits were great! The crab cake is delicious too! Love the staff and the beautiful outdoor seating area!
Nazareth Vasquez
I had lunch in this restaurant because at the hotel that I stayed, the front office agent recommended it.
The food was ok, the biscuits I have to say are the best that I ever had. However, my husband ordered the fried chicken with waffles and the chicken was raw.
They did apologized and offered to change the plate, but we were almost finishing out dishes. The raw chicken is the only reason why I gave them 4 stars instead of 5.
The attention was wonderful.
Nice place.
Amjad Awwad
5 stars is not enough. The bar staff was extremely hospitable. Mike explained the menu perfectly and recommended the fried chicken, which I will never forget. Best fried chicken I ever had, and probably will ever have had. I also recommend the prickly pearrita (with vodka or tequila!) I got compliments from the waitstaff (bonus points) on my White Castle tee shirt. P.S. beware the biscuit and cornbread! I can eat those all day!
Brian Lawson
Best fried chicken 🍗in Atlanta. Great service. My daughter's birthday is this Friday and they brought out a dessert. Make sure to reserve in advance or you're in for a long wait. There's plenty of parking.
B Walker
Southern cooking with some twists done very well. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience, everything was superb. Nice cocktails and apps to start, and the fried chicken was just like grandma used to make. Wife loved the shrimp and grits with andouille. Just like we had in New Orleans. Staff was on point and very professional.
Dr. Josh Handt
I was down for a conference in the area and it was highly recommended. We took the recommendation, and it ended up being great. We did not have a reservation and we happen to show up at the right time. Otherwise the place was packed. I’d like to see that, the restaurant. The cauliflower appetizer we had was amazing and my shrimp and grits were great.
Cindy Puent
We came here from the Midwest to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday while on vacation. Food was very good but Carlos our server made the evening wonderful! Just the right amount of interaction and humor. He definitely made our evening special. This was one of the best experiences we've ever had and we have been to many different James Beard award winning restaurants across the US. Keep up the great work!
Jenny Chan
Above and beyond customer service and spectacular food. I was in town and called in a last minute reservation. We were dealing with parking meter issues outside of the restaurant that led to us being 45 mins later than our reserved time. Not only did they hold the table for us despite being completely full, they gave us complementary drinks and appetizers to help smooth out our night. We even had one of the staff come outside to assist with the meter! Food was on point - great corn bread, fried green tomatoes, and you can't go wrong with any of the entrees. Highly recommend!
Sunni Warrior
While waiting after being seated was a little extensive, our waiter was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu choices. The cornbread and biscuits were delicious! The lamb and kale pasta dish was filling and worth a repeat order.
Belinda Godfrey
The place was super cool but the food was okay. I am careful to respond to a venue in this way because people have different taste pallets. With that said, if you have had great southern food before, you may be a bit underwhelmed. Overall, its a cool spot for dinner, I will just select something different on my next visit.
Casper Mørck
Excellent spot for great southern food. The food war very good and the service was engaged and attentive. We had a bunch of starters and the smoked lamb sausage pasta. Everyone liked it. The only thing to note was that it was a bit loud, so not ideal for having a conversation with a large group.
Samir Issa
i heard about SCK midtown. never been here but when i came it did not disappoint. My friend, whom i have not seen in over 15 years asked me to find a spot to catch up and break bread together when he was visiting in town and it turned out to be the perfect place. quiet both elegant and casual. has a very boutique bistro feel. now on to the food. first pick fried green tomatoes. flaky and crispy on the outside. juislcy and flavorful on the inside. and that sauce!! second pick is the crab soup. dont let the size fool you. it is small but mighty. very creamy and delicious soup with healthy portions of crab. dont want to think of the calories packed into that cup. now the entree. omg! perfectly crispy fried chicken on outside. tender and juicy on the inside. sitting on top of what tasted like amazing homemade mashed potatoes. and some tasty collard greens. if you are looking for a cozy spot to get some southern home cooking, you cant miss with South City Kitchen.

I'm here in Atlanta on business so I sat at the bar to eat. Ajay served me and she was fantastic. She suggested I give the pork chop a shot- it was outrageously good. I think it was the best pork chop I've ever eaten- smoky, sweet and spicy and served on a bed of beans. I also had the watermelon salad and finished off (at Ajay's recommendation!) with the berry sundae. I am stuffed.
A GREAT dinner, and great service and guidance from Ajay. I'll be back next time I'm in town!
Janet Valentin
Food was delicious. Waiter was so friendly and was always asking us did we need anything,

Worth the stop if you’re just visiting. They start you with a basket of homemade biscuits and cornbread. Truly mouthwatering. I usually have a go to at restaurants but here I try different items and haven’t been let down yet. You’ll want to take a walk after this delicious comfort meal. Explore midtown and enjoy. Make sure you get a reservation.

Attended South City kitchen for a working lunch with a couple of colleagues, and had a fabulous time! We all got a round of the delicious She Crab Soup (would highly recommend) as well as the pimeno Burger, barbecue sandwich, and chicken salad. Everything came out really quickly at peak lunch time (12:30pm), was absolutely delicious, really decent portions, and was the perfect spot for our business lunch. If you've never been to South City kitchen, make it your next stop! Thank you, Joel, for our fantastic service!

Chicken is banging, hot sauce had some spice but didn't kill us, french fries decent, liver cooked superbly, shrimp and grits were perfect... someone else in our party had the (Atlantic) salmon and said it was cooked very well and was yummy. We loved the pickles so much I asked for the pickling recipe! All around great service, friendly staff, nice n clean, everyone was hard working and seemed to take pride in their work, great seating area, lovely plating, delicious food, biiiig portions, yummy drinks, and fun desserts! Will come here EVERY time I am in ATL!
Mrs. Haney
We made a 12:30 reservation on a Saturday and got right in. The server was super helpful with drink suggestions because we were picky. Everyone there was friendly and kept checking to make sure we were doing good. The drinks took a little too long to come out, but the food was fast. The chicken & waffle was delicious although little pricey (but that's expected of ATL)
We would go back. My friend loved her grits so much she wanted some to go. If you have issues with stairs he warned the bathroom is upstairs

Enjoyed the food. I ordered the bbq shrimp and enjoyed it. I wish they had more cocktail options that were sweet. Service was great. The server kept us laughing and had great energy. Overall good experience.

After hearing the hype for 3 yrs, we were excited to dine here before a show at the Fox. Good service. The food was edible but just okay. Ordered pimento cheese, bbq cauliflower and split the fried chicken. Will not revisit.
R Trice
Food was seasoned perfectly! Service was great! Drinks was good!
Abigail Go
Sat at the bar and had the fried tomato, pork belly, and shrimp grits, all of which were incredible! We split it between 3 people, which was enough to fill all of us up sufficiently. The staff was so kind (thank you AJ!!) and even gave us the run down of what was in the food. Highly recommend!
Wendy S
Our food was excellent and it was everything I had hoped for. Probably one of the best bloody Marys I’ve ever tasted and I never realized grits could be so sophisticated. Collard greens were rather salty . Overall a very pleasant experience.
brown cholla
We ate here for our anniversary dinner. South City met and exceeded our expectations. We had the she-crab soup, fried green tomatoes, and pork chop. Everything was well seasoned and flavorful. Andrew was our waiter who provided attentive service without being intrusive. We plan to go again.
Brian J
First time visiting Atlanta and this was our first stop for lunch. This was one of the best dining experiences I have had in a very long time. The food was simply AMAZING! Very laid back environment and super friendly staff. All of the food was perfect and the flavor profiles were spot-on. Try the brisket sandwich with the mashed potatoes and thank me later!
Antonio Hicks
Great place to wind down to some good food, drinks, and service. Got the seafood dish of the day along with the barbecue cauliflower and it was really good. I've been here many times and never had a bad experience. I highly recommend this place.
Roy Price
Alphonso was our waiter and he fantastic with such a great personality. Had great suggestions and was very thorough. Ordered the fried chicken and it was the best I’ve ever had. Highly recommend this great restaurant and Alphonso. You won’t be disappointed.

Fried Green Tomatoes were bomb! The biscuits will melt in your mouth. Don’t sleep on South City!😋😋😋 …
Nicole Zink
Nice spot. Loved the fried green tomatoes, shrimp and grits, fried chicken, and biscuits. Great server. Downside - it was uncomfortably hot inside so I would sit outside next time (even if it's 80+ and humid).
Lawrence McGuire
We used to live in the south and were missing southern fare, saw the reviews and dropped in mid day. Looked like it had a great vibe and were seated after a shirt wait. The place is busy and hopping, we were fortunate to be seated quickly. People are dressed sharply and service staff was quick and sharp. Food was greeeeat. Bisquits and corn bread to start and a nice wine selection. Entrees were loved by all. If you have a chance, eat here. We will be eating here next time we come to Atlanta.
Jane Lomas
Joined a friend to eat here at South City Kitchen Midtown. My first time, my friend had eaten here before (she belongs to a group that allows her to get points at certain restaurants in exchange for free stuff... gotta love that). We shared a fried green tomato app that was absolutely fabulous and a 10 on the visuals. She got the spicy chicken sandwich with white BBQ sauce. I got the roasted beef brisket sandwich with peperoncini peppers that gave it a delightful taste. It dripped goodness and I ate the whole thing. Service was awesome.
Chris H
The food was delicious and was a great representation of southern cooking. The waitstaff were very knowledgeable and friendly. They certainly pack the place full (and it got very noisy at times), but that adds to the charm.
Chelsey Geeting
This is the place, just go.
I walked in just before dinner service. The hostess milled about putting things in place and offered to take my suitcase. Immediately I felt that I was not a guest, I was family. The place is noisy. Classic rock peeks out of the atmosphere as silverware and pans clatter from the open kitchen and at each table, people talk and laugh and feed each other bites of thoughtful yet unpretentious food. The lighting is dim and warm, and the air smells of bread and garlic.
I won't say what I ate because it doesn't matter. It was all delicious, beautifully seasoned. But definitely start with the cocktail Maryann & Ginger. It's simple and so refreshing.
Again, just go. Stop searching and just get in your uber and go experience this place.
Also, for those who are specifically looking for GF, you'll be able to choose from most of the menu here

Had the She-crab soup and shaved beef sandwich. Sandwich was good but soup had a little bit of bitter after taste. Service was excellent and staff was friendly. Calm soothing atmosphere.

This place was recommended by the staff at my hotel. I had one night in Atlanta and couldn't have spent it better. Staff was AMAZING, Food was perfection (coming from a NC a country girl). True comfort food, but elevated. Definitely recommend to anyone traveling to Atlanta.
E Kim
This place is amazing! Good, drinks, bartender and atmosphere were all great. I got the shrimp and grits, which were possibly the best I’ve had. The banana pudding was also good.
Samantha Jimenez
If you are looking for authentic southern comfort food this is not the place. The food was good but over priced and deceiving. The fried green tomatoes tasted more Italian than southern. The staff was awesome at least. They do add on 20% service charge on top of the bill but that is not going directly to servers. Robbery.
Ruth
Had not eaten here in many years - I remember when it was the hot new place on Crescent Ave! Requested an outdoor table which is in a minimal kind of space in front. Service was a bit rushed, lingering over a drink was not going to happen. Food was average, but the biscuits are still good
Dalia Khourshid
I remember coming here years ago and it was to die for. I have to say I was a bit underwhelmed. The breads/biscuits they brought to the table were just OK. I was expecting SOUTHERN corn bread…this was very bland corn bread. I got the She’ Crab Soup and all I could taste was a strong flavor of alcohol, some may like it that way but it’s not personally my thing. I also had the fried green tomatoes which were ehhh… On the flip side our server was darling and sooooo sweet! 😁
Leah Conley
If I could give more than 5 stars...I would. Amazing food, service and once again food!! OMG soooo good. Such a feel good vibe inside the restaurant as well. Very friendly staff and lots of love being put into everything they do. I had the chicken and waffles which was really good and my boyfriend had the friend chicken specialty which he loved. The chicken was amazingly tender and juicy...still trying to wrap my mind around how they were able to do that. The cornbread and biscuits they bring out to start...*chefs kiss*. Cannot wait to return and will definitely be recommending SCK to those visiting Atlanta.

Great brunch. Awesome energy and the drinks and food are superb!

Everything we had as a group was absolutely amazing. Our waitress was very polite and attentive. They are short staff but they were very apologetic so it was no big deal
A Terry
I was missing JCT's until I ate the fried chicken here. I added honey and hot sauce. Absolutely, it was on point and crispy. Did I mention the collard greens with the corn muffin? Yep, you guessed right, I cleaned my plate.

Stopped in my first night arriving in Atl for the weekend. Sat at the bar and enjoyed the pork bellies and fried chicken livers. The highlight of my evening included the incredible drinks mixed by Bree and watching her and Ashley in action creating incredible cocktails at the busy spot. Bree was a history buff, so learned a lot of incredible fun facts. Had such a great time, I returned for brunch my last day in the city with my sister. Enjoyed the tasty chicken and waffles by my great server Autumn. The staff there are incredible and the food is delicious. It’s now one of my new fav spots to dine when in town.

Jennifer made our night. My husband has been visiting Midtown Atlanta for years and we finally were able to visit together. By far, the most delicious fried chicken I've ever had. The mashed potatoes were a dream, cocktails were perfectly balanced and those fried green tomatoes, who knew that tomato's could be so decadent?! Can't wait for our next visit!
Shelby Williams
The best employees! All the bartenders were fantastic . Especially chris, who came to the rescue when I ruined my white pants. He gave me a rag and soda water and tried to help in every way. The cocktails are phenomenal!
Suzi Agne
This restaurant was a random pick based on where we were going. The food was delicious! It isn't inexpensive. Reservations are a good idea.
Be warned the bathrooms are upstairs.
The food and ambiance were worth it!
Tamara Hill
Breakfast or brunch is a sheer delight. Today I had the egg frittata with kale and tomatoes. On the side were the gichi grits that were creamy and cheesy. I also had the pecan wood bacon that was crisp and sweet. My hubby had the succulent trout. Now to be fair we ate the fried green tomatoes before I could take a picture. But the fried green tomatoes were light and served with a marina sauce that brings the flavor together. Finally, Bree was fantastic and makes one of the best mules in the city in addition to her perfect touch on my hubby Old Fashioned ❤
Christina Murray
Great service. Such a vibe. Food was decent. I had the fried chicken, collard greens, and mash. I loved the bread they give you.
Audrey Hill
I was very pleased with the restaurant. We were seated quickly . The food was freshly prepared and presented well. The staff was great. Will eat there in the future.

Being the restaurant connoisseur I am, anytime I visit a new restaurant I always have very high expectations of the food and especially the service (I have several years of food and beverage service under my belt). South City Kitchen Midtown left me wanting more!!! The food was nothing short of amazing, the ambience was gorgeous, and the service was top notch! I couldn’t have imagined a bette way to celebrate my birthday! Shoutout to the owner, the cooks (the crab cake gave life), the bartender (the fizzy lifting drink was a hit), and to my server! AWESOME, AWESOME, AWESOME!!!
King Asar-Ra
I love fried chicken… when I make it. But, when South City Kitchen makes it - I act like I don't know what, where and how… why? Their chicken is the BEST EVER! "No Cap!" (for those younger people reading)… They serve only chicken breasts for their select pieces. The locked in juice only waits for your mouth before it squirts out a sweet taste of the perfect bite… each time… or was that the side cup of maple au jus to compliment the bite…? The companion potatoes we a favorite for my date. She mentioned that she liked that they are real potatoes… It reminded me that I really have a disdain for canned veggies especially collards. These people at South City Kitchen has hired three grandmas, per location, to cut and clean fresh collards!! Next time, I'm going to the back to put some money in their change purses - I promise. I'm going to visit all of their locations. After the holiday, for lunch, I'm going to try the Chicken and Waffles and hope that it makes my legs kick and swing like a child in a high chair, happy, without a care in the world. Thanks for the experience in my city. Patron for life.
Ebonie Poythress
Absolutely delicious! My husband and I had an early Valentine's Day dinner here and we will definitely be back! We ordered the Fried Green Tomatoes as an appetizer and we both had the Fried Chicken for dinner. For drinks, I had the Dracarys which is like a smoky mango margarita and my husband had a Jim Crockett promotion. Both drinks were yummy and strong! I'd highly recommend South City Kitchen! 😋
Adrl Mrtz
The attention from staff is fantastic here. The food is similar to the other South City Kitchens across Atlanta, but this one has an especially good chef. Tried their friend green tomatoes (a local favorite, deep fried green tomatoes with cream cheese and red bell pepper and basil sauce), spooned meat, and classic fried chicken dishes. Everything was delicious and the presentation was fantastic. If you’re a fan of souther food, definitely give this place a visit!
Ryan Stone
Delicious brunch! If you get the XL biscuit I feel like you owe it to yourself to add the fried chicken to it. The shrimp and grits most definitely did not disappoint either!
Stephanie Anderson
Birthday Girls Trip, we Really enjoyed this but the 3 stars is the server totally forgot my cousins order. However the food was good. Will visit again
Robin DeFehr
The fried green tomatoes were perfectly seasoned and served beautifully. The fried chicken was juicy and crispy. The service was friendly and attentive,
Veronica Drake
So I was in town on business and stayed at a hotel nearby. I ordered the pork chops with mashed potatoes and greens. Everything was good but those pork chops were so good and tender. I will return if I return to the area❤
Cher Yang
Came to this place for a Sunday brunch with my hubby. It was a satisfying experience. We had fried green tomatoes and the gulf shrimps as appetizer and the sauce of the gulf shrimp was amazing! You really have to mix them all to get the highly complete dish. We also ordered chicken liver, king biscuits and egg Benedict. The pickled jalapeños were the highlight of the dish; they really complete the egg Benedict. This restaurant also serves complimentary cornbread and biscuits. And shout out to their great service!
Carla T
Busy busy Friday night so no tables available but luckily we found a spot at the Bar which was perfect we had the fried chicken with greens and the roasted corn and veggies with greens and the lump crab cake ok we were very hungry..... it was all delicious no complaints.
Lisa Davis
Was staying at a local hotel and staff recommended this great restaurant. I'm from up North..and this was the best fried chicken ever. Reasonable prices.
JN Five
Great service, atmosphere and food. Definitely save some room in your belly for the menu here. We walked in and they seated us right away for lunch. Definitely recommend the shrimp grits and love the corn bread they serve.
Kristin T
The best shrimp and grits you will ever taste!! Biscuits are clouds of deliciousness. Corn muffins are crispy and rich.
Favorite southern food restaurant in Atlanta. Delicious creative food and cocktails, service is fantastic.
Alonzo Jones
When I tell you the service and the fried chicken is always a win for me. I've only had the fried chicken with waffles on the weekend for brunch but was able to get my first taste of the delicious collards and mashed potatoes for lunch.
Whitlei Neal
The food here is really amazing. I had the porkchop with butternut squash and brussel sprouts. Not only was the medium well porkchop delicious but the pairing of the butternut and brussel sprouts really sealed the deal on the flavor. Our waitress Dorian was also really nice. She brought us the cute little scoop of banana pudding which was really good. Instead of using cookies for the banan pudding, they used like a graham cracker crumbling which tasted amazing. I will definitely be back 😁 Follow my food page for more reviews @fabdiningfindsofatlanta
Michael Ethridge
Lamb and pasta was delicious. So tender it melts in your mouth
Ron Leibfreid
Biscuits and cornbread before the meal were delicious. This place is great. The brisket sandwich was stellar but the bun didn’t need all the butter - my hands were covered from touching just the outside of the bun. Incredible flavor, and a great balance of brisket, cheese, horseradish cream, and banana peppers. Brilliant combination.
I’d definitely come back to try some other creations. Everyone in our party had a wonderful experience.
Kevin Teo
Totally recommend the Springer Mountain Farms fried chicken!
Amy Chiou
Everything was delicious from the Arnold Palmer to the Pineapple Upside Down Cake. The Fried Green Tomatoes were some of the best I've ever had. The shrimp and grits were so delicious 🔥 and a really hearty portion. The corn bread was perfect. …
Oliver Surriga
This was a great place. I wanted some southern food and came away very satisfied. The fried chicken was perfect with the mashed potatoes and collared greens. But first, I had fried green tomatoes to start, which I've never had before, surprisingly. On the side, the biscuit was soft and flaky and it went well with fried chicken. The corn muffin was a nice touch too. To top it off, I had the Bruleed Banana Pudding. It was a fitting end to a great meal.
Brian
Good food,I had the peel and eat shrimp. Messy, but tasty. We were seated relatively quickly despite not having a reservation.
David-Michael Searcy
One of the BEST Southern Restaurants in the City. Our favorite is the original South City Kitchen in Midtown, which is housed in an old two story house and last of the houses of that time. The the Buckhead location is our next favorite.
elisabeth oh
Good brunch and can totally understand the crowds. The food was great and the service was friendly and detailed. The ambience is modern and clean but with all the hard surfaces it was rather loud with the peak brunch crowd. The restaurant offers plenty of seating although it fills quickly!
My highlights: Great lemonade! Clearly housemate and super fresh. Also the fried green tomatoes, so good! The house kettle chips we're good too, fresh and seasoned with BBQ. They reminded me of the chips served at the Nordstrom cafe.
Overall the food was served via great presentation. Was a little disappointed in the pulled pork sandwich, it was hyped as a specialty but honestly, I've had better at a Boston Market.
Carl Noe
Delicious crab bisque & fried chicken. Mississippi mud pie is a must try. There is a 20% sure charge added to our bill in place of a tip.
T Wms
Great service but the food (chicken sandwich, French dip, and fried green tomatoes) was just ok. The homemade chips were good.
Melissa Williams
Parking can be challenging on the lot depending on the day and time you go. It is a very urban downtown vibe in this location. There is a good choice of cocktails and menu choices. Our server was very friendly.
L S
Went here for lunch and sat on the patio. It is enclosed but spaced out and the servers are very nice and wear masks. I had the she crab soup and a caesar salad. Both were really tasty! It was a great meal!
Nikeisha Burgess
Definitely Try The Brunch! Yes, It Is Very Popular So Be Prepared To Possibly Wait. The Portion Sizes, The Atmosphere Makes This "Off The Beaten Path" Location Worth The Drive. Try The Salmon And Those Collards (Just Like Grandma's). Mmmmm!
Rachel Dougherty
Visited South City Kitchen for dinner while on a work trip! My coworkers and I had a wonderful experience with the food and customer service. The cocktail list was full of options that could please everyone, the bar staff was courteous and let us order drinks while we waited for our table. The servers were very well informed and were able to answer all our questions and make suggestions on the menu. We ended up ordering several dishes and appetizers and sharing with the table. We all loved our food, my favorite was definitely the shrimp and grits!
Pia Bhatti
OMG! I love this place. We were fortunate to visit on a day that had beautiful evening weather and we were able to eat outside. It was a great experience and food totally matched. Everything was sooooooooo ok good even down to the corn muffins with sweet corn baked into the bread. I will be back. Dem shrimp and grits!!!!!!!!!! Yum Yum Yum in my Tum Yum Yum!
Shari-Ann Myers
I visited South City Kitchen while traveling on business. We had a fairly large party, however, the service was still great and the food was amazing. This was our first visit so we tried a variety of items. Everyone enjoyed everything served and we all commented that we would definitely return on our next trip!
Josiah Millan
Despite being 'World famous' the group I went with all had our reservations about the Fried Tomatoes, but they definitely lived up to the hype. I'd come back just to have a few plates of those.
For the main course I ordered the pork chops which was perfectly evenly cooked, incredibly juicy and suprisingly flavorful. The sauce on the side was icing on the proverbial cake.
Absolute treat. Highly recommend.
Carrie Dickerson
First time here... the host, server ambiance is awesome. I had fried green tomatoes as an appetizer .. my main dish was fried chicken, collards and potatoes...OMG Everything was delicious..
Kam
Lovely dining experience. Our waiter was hilarious and the food was delicious. Beautifully plated gourmet southern food! IG @liminndinin
Brandon B
An upscale restaurant known for their fried chicken and fried green tomatoes which were absolutely astounding in flavor and satisfaction. The service was attentive and met our every need. The seating arrangement was a little crowded but nothing to keep you from coming and enjoying some good southern cooking. Only one person per bathroom here, and the parking is limited here but additional parking across the street. I highly recommend the fried green tomatoes, the chicken and waffles, and for dessert the pineapple upside down cake which comes with a scoop of homemade blueberry ice cream with pineapple chunks as the bedding for the scoop. South City Kitchen does get busy over the weekend so I recommend calling ahead and making reservation if the party is four or more. Enjoy my foodie connoisseurs.
MARCIE MOHAMMED
Nice Jazzy and blues selection. Clean dim with candle light at each table. The majority of the staff seems to be nice. I really like the selection of food. I would definitely recommend it and I would return. I believe that the menu prices are in accord with the dishes that they serve. I love the overall ambiance. The food looks delicious. You will definitely feel that southern flair.
Tim
Definitely worth a visit! My steak was a great cut, seasoned and cooked to perfection. I've never had quail before, but I definitely enjoyed stealing some from my girlfriend. Fun cocktails and a great vibe in the place. We had a table outside right along the sidewalk and could watch all the people. The homeless guy who interrupted out meal (and several others) to ask for change was annoying but that's no fault of the restaurant and we could have sat inside if we wanted to avoid passer-bys.
Service was fantastic and the price vs quality was on par. Cant speak to their lunch menu, but go check out dinner!
Damon Davis
High praises for this place. The food, service, and atmosphere were all five stars. I never order fried chicken for dine-in but I was told the chicken was a must at South City Kitchen. I was given good advice. I'll be back.
Brandee Richardson
Best fried green tomatoes I've ever had! Service was awesome! The atmosphere was fun.
Elizabeth Davidson
Best Old Fashioned in Atlanta can be found here! Superior waitstaff lends to this fine dining experience. To start we enjoyed the She Crab soup & Pork Belly. The soup features a generous portion of crab of with a creamy base. The pork belly appetizer is plenty for a party of 2 to 3. It is tangy flavor of pickled cabbage & peppers meld well with the sweetness of the pork. I highly recommend. Each of enjoyed a different main. The Grilled Cobia was flavorful & light. The Carolina BBQ shrimp was a hit with guest. The entire evening was spectacular. Gratuity is now included as a 20% service charge which I think is excellent seeing as waitstaff still make about $2.75 an hour. I do wish our service would have given us the option to give him additional tip. Brian was truly worth it. We are looking forward to our next visit soon.
Steve Roese
That’s their fried green tomatoes which are quite different. Nice but maybe could use a bit more flavor. The tomato and watermelon salad was great twist, service spot on and COVID protocol over the top.
Overall a worthy stop, won’t blow you away but solid.
Don Robinson
My chicken and waffles were awesome. My son's fish and chips was great. My wife was not crazy about her food, which was cold the first time, and our other son was not crazy about the breakfast sandwich. But, that chicken and waffles was awesome!!
Dee Zelaya
Yes, yes!! fried chicken and pecan waffles, alongside a few mango mimosas. Love it all! Service, food, ambiance!
Robb Tobias
Amazing food. Super friendly service (we sat at the bar).
Keep up the good work!
Raquel M. H. Crump
Came here last Sunday and loved it (per usual)! There is no parking lot so you have to park on the street or in a lot. The lot across the street was $15, but I know South City cannot control that.
We had no wait and were immediately seated. The patio is enclosed so you can sit outside even in the cold weather and feel very comfortable.
I had the waffle and a side of bacon. I want to point out the hospitality here. The menu had the waffle for $10, but when I got my bill it said $11. I asked my waitress about the extra $1 and she followed up and said it was a system error and thanked me for pointing it out because they had no idea how long that had been occurring. I added the extra $1 to her tip.
The food was delicious and the mimosas were on point and more champs then juice 😉. I’ll keep returning to South City Kitchen!
Brad Kingsley
We had a great lunch here. Staff is extremely friendly and efficient. They take good safety precautions too.
Gilberto Estrada
I liked this place, food is really good and that's what matters.
I'm tempted to give 4 stars because I wasn't completely pleased with the service, is not bad don't get me wrong, but is something they can improve.
On the good side I think the pictures are not fair for my food, it looked really good and I appreciate it.
Josy Skaf
YUMM. What a lovely restaurant! The service and the food were excellent!
Can’t wait to go again when I’m back in Atlanta.
Megan Wilcox
Great southern food with a fun atmosphere. I went on a work dinner while visiting Atlanta. We had the fried green tomatoes, pimento cheese, cornbread and biscuits, and salty potatoes for appetizers. All great and everyone raved about the fried green tomatoes. I had the fried chicken meal and it was very good. Would recommend splitting a meal though unless you can take leftovers!
Javeyeta Peterson
I don't normally order pork chops in a restaurant. Say what you want, but I haven't gotten accustomed to eating my pork "medium" (as suggested by the waiter). But I tried medium-well and it was the driest pork chop ever. It was definitely hard to chew but I loved the veggies and the flavor. I would go back; I just wouldn't order the chops. Waiter was awesome.
Solomon Jones
A bit pricey, but definitely worth it.
Grilled trout with brussel sprouts and spaghetti squash was simply delicious.
Steve S
From out of town, stopped on a whim mostly because we were hungry and couldn't walk any farther without eating. Fairly expensive but good food. Fried green tomatoes were awesome and the peach salad flavorful and generous with the peaches. Negative was a $9 50 fee to help pay their workers (Covid related). Should have been told that up front.
Jeff Carter
I went to South City kitchen for lunch. The midtown curb appeal gives, a live and vibrant night life as Club Opera sits acoss the street. During lunch hour, however it is rather subdued and charming. The traffic getting there was light considering the time of day. I did not see any desinated parking for South city, so i parked on the street. The restaurant was not crowded, the food was great. I had the , She-crab soup, and the catfish Reuben. My friend had Grilled Eggplant. We both had one drink and our tab was $75 plus tip. Pretty expensive for lunch. The food was awsome, and the service was unacceptable slow, considering there was less then 6 people in the place. I got my soup 15 mins before my bread, and i had to ask for it 3 times. However this did not taint my experience. I will visit again. So go and enjoy, but being your wallet.😔
Lamar Wayne
Great service, atmosphere and food. The location is nice, but quite small. I recommend the She-Crab Soup, the Fried Green Tomatoes and the Fried Chicken very very good stuff.
Arissa Camp-Glover
The chicken was delicious! The waiter was very throurough with explaining the menu choices.
Michael C McGuire
I've been waiting for a chance to visit South City Kitchen. Today was a special celebration and it was perfection. I'm already planning my next visit.
Michele Roberts
Their springer mountain fried chicken with fries and collard greens is absolutely delicious. Their corn muffin and biscuits are so fresh!
Scott Carter
Wow. Amazing. I often travel alone, but you can get a seat at the bar and get full dinner service. Peach salad, followed by Shrimp and Grits. About as happy as I’ve ever been. And save room for the pineapple upside down cake. Crazy.
Rachel Klan
Book ahead! Not a lot of tables and they fill up fast. The food was beyond good.
Recommend the banana creme brulee, it will give you religion
One point, if you need any kind of accessibility, you may need to call and inquire about how they will be able serve you.
The restroom was upstairs and I saw no elevator. Also, the space is very small and twisty.
For those who utilize a mobility device or are extremely large, this may lead to a less than relaxing experience.
Do Gyun Kim
Good food. Good Venue. Good environment. Kind of pricy - not sure if it's worth it at this price. But if you have money to spend - you won't have a bad experience.
This place can get busy. Make a reservation if you can. I didn't really see any parking on-site but there are pay lots around.
I had two of their most popular items: Fried Green Tomatoes and Fried Chicken. Both were good. I enjoyed the Fried Green Tomatoes more than the Fried Chicken.
My fried chicken was cooked well but slightly under-seasoned. The dish is kind of small for how much you pay. While it tasted fine, the idea of expensive fancy fried chicken doesn't sit well with me.
Clark Agravante
Most of the weekend I was pretty underwhelmed by the food in Atlanta. Until I ate at this place. This place is a amazing small little restaurant. It feels like a small house and the food is of the highest quality. Our server Gabriel provides 5 star service and the manager even greeted us. You have to try the cornbread. It was the best I've ever had so far.

Fine meals in a quaint old house among the skyscrapers of midtown Atlanta. Outdoor terrace dining as well as indoor wood accented dining rooms on two levels. Accommodating bar seating, too. Distinctive meal choices...fried green tomatoes had just the right amount of batter and basil, pimento burger a savory must-have and hand cut seasoned fries a fine accompaniment with the tangy Aioli dip. Chicken salad with hazelnuts was great comfort food. Corn muffins and biscuits with warm butter can't be passed up. Gracious and attentive wait staff added to the experience. Can't wait to be in Atlanta again to enjoy a meal here...highly recommend!
Carlton E
This was my first time dining at South City - I'm visiting from out of town. We were seated quickly and the dining room has a great ambiance. Our food came out promptly (even though it was peak hours). The food was amazing! Please ask to be seated in Rachel's section because she is a superstar!! She made the experience all the more satisfying ⭐️ Thank you!
Aaron Porter
Lively but comfortable space. Modern and approachable food with a solid foundation in southern cooking. A couple oddities on the menu -- a Korean style brisket was sweet and strange, but overall quite good.
Friendly and attentive staff, great bar.
Christophe Koessler
In a hunt for good southern food? Look no more! This place has it. From great food to service and atmosphere, everything was perfect. The fried chicken was to die for. The fried green tomatoes a must!
L P
Fantastic dining experience! Cannot recommend the appetizers enought! Tried chicken liver with our group we had a 50/50 split on if they were good. The pesto lamb sausage is out of this world. Trout was fantastic and the pork chop too! Service and drinks were fantastic!
Gina Strumpf (Wedding Artist)
I am a live event wedding artist capturing a beautiful bride and groom's first dance on canvas in Atlanta this weekend and I got so lucky to have brunch at South City Kitchen Midtown this Sunday and wow! I am just blown away at this amazing dining spot tucked away around the corner from the Four Season's Hotel! The food and the service was awesome and the manager strives for perfection and caring of each dining experience. The ambiance is great with a great bar and a view of the fabulous kitchen preparing your meal. I hope to be back in Atlanta painting weddings and dining at South City soon. Was good. Chicken was flavorful and moist. Greens were good too. The mash was cold though when brought to the table. Also water wasn’t refilled until after we finished eating
Steven Taylor
Truly the best waffle I have ever had. All the food was fantastic as was the coffee. The service was great. I highly recommend.
Nice outdoor space (patio) and two stories inside. A few blocks from Piedmont Park in Midtown.
Kathleen Baden
I hosted a bridesmaids brunch here last weekend. The service was perfect (thanks Scully!) and the food was excellent. I set everything up with Jamie, their group dining sales manager. She was great to work with. I highly recommend them for a group experience!
Tyler Bennett
The fried chicken was really good and the liver was a surprise favorite. We also tried the crab soup, pimiento cheese, pork belly, shrimp and grits and lamb sausage pasta and it was all great but i will still probably get the chicken next time! Great staff and atmosphere.
Michael Parfenov
Love this place. Great food: from appetizers to main dishes. Fried green tomatoes are amazing! And very welcoming folks.
Coming back next week!
Rude Montana
THE PLACE WAS NICE THE SERVICE WAS GREAT ... THE MANGER KHEKED ON EVERYONE REGULARLY ... I HAD THE CHICKEN ... IT WAS GOOD ... I LIKED THE MASHED POTATOES THE BEST ... MY ONLY DISAPPOINTMENT WAS THEY DON'T DEEP FRY THE CHICKEN LIVER ... BUT OVERALL IT WAS STILL A GOOD LIL SPOT
Craig Cuttner
Lovely setting, parking was challenging. Excellent staff... southern dishes were very tasty. Fried chicken, pork chop, short rib were all good.
Chandra Turner
The cornbread and fresh biscuits are to die for! My Lamb pasta was a meh experience, though.

The food is always good at any South City Kitchen. However, South City Kitchen Midtown does not validate parking so be ready to pay $20 additional for your dining experience. In addition they pack as many tables as possible in there. South City Kitchen Buckhead has valet at whatever amount you wish to tip. They seem to be more spacious.
Mike Beecher
Busy, vibrant restaurant in downtown Atlanta. The food was PHENOMENAL. Old Southern favorites, good drinks and the service was impeccable. We had their fried chicken, fried green tomatoes (so good) along with the house Old Fashioned for a cocktail.
Sam Bedekar
Come for an authentic southern food experience! We were visiting Atlanta and were recommended South City Kitchen by locals. The food was plentiful and tasty. Highly recommend the fried green tomatoes and fried chicken. The Carolina trout also delights. The atmosphere can be loud but it's very inviting.
Brianna Bussell
This food is SOOOOO GOOD…that it should be ILLEGAL! I’m calling my lawyer to see if this can be done lol just kidding of course. If you come here, do yourself a favor and get the fried green tomatoes appetizer, fried chicken or shrimp and grits as your entree!
You won’t regret it. Can’t wait to visit again. NO COMPLAINTS! Service was the best I ever had and the food was FLAWLESS. I’m from Chicago and we have good food but this different. Make sure you stop by.
Kristin Sedgwick
Amazing! Loved every minute of our experience. Started with fried green tomatoes. Delicious. For my main course, I had the friend chicken. Super moist, crunchy, juicy perfection. Definitely ask for the chili vinegar for the collard greens. Ridiculously good! The space was loud. But it was only because the food made it worth a 30 minute wait on a Wednesday evening. Would def recommend.

Excellent service and the food is even better... My wife and I had reservations for 1715 hrs... we were seated immediately and our meals arrived shortly after completing our appetizers.... Go for the signature dish.... I don't recall the exact name, however I ate the fried chicken breast/wing w/ mashed potatoes and collards... On the way out, I had to make sure my grandma was not in the kitchen... lol
Laney McLean
Extremely delicious brunch in a lovely old house. The patio is heated in the winter, so it was a great place to sit. The service was excellent. Our food was beyond delicious and there's a good selection of beer and wine.
Carmen Monfort
Our Server Was So Nice. The Food Was Amazing. It Wasn't A Long Wait For The Food To Come Out. Which Was Very Surprising To Us! We Really Enjoyed Ourselves!
Shay Seng
I had the fried green tomatoes, which came battered and fried to a perfect crisp. They sat on a tomato sauce and drizzles of basil oil. Delicious. I also ordered the shrimp and grits. Shrimps were cooked beautifully, grits were wonderfully creamy. Sauced with a shrimp bisque like sauce. Awesome
Ms. Barron
I can only imagine how many plates of fried green tomatoes and fried chicken that must get served here daily! Both were delicious and i really liked the addition of the goat cheese with the tomato, yum. Fried chicken was perfectly seasoned and moist with really creamy mashed potatoes. I missed the recommendation for the spicy oil for the greens, I won't make that mistake next time. Shrimp and grits was also perfect and my cocktail was crisp and refreshing. Service was friendly and attentive. I would definitely recommend. My other favorite restaurant in Atlanta would have to be the Optimist.
Kate Webster
The BEST fried chicken, smashed potatoes and greens I've ever had. Picture of the pecan bar as I've devoured the main dish already.
Kimberly West
This place is great. The food is good and the service was phenomenal. ...the bathroom situation wasn't ideal. That's my only issue. Nonetheless, I'll be back!

The food was great. Our server Andy was very nice. I would suggest making a reservation.
Dr. Greg Garrison
Good southern style food-suggest reservations as it gets busy. Cute area in midtown- Food comes out fast- street parking- friendly staff- limited take out menu- on the louder side dining experience but food is worth it
Michelle M
The food was delicious I was impressed by the crab soup. The staff was amazing especially since we had a big group with two tables.
Christopher A. Williams
The lobster crawfish wontons hit the spot! The Chilean sea bass, a little bit salty because you have the brine from the artichokes and the sun dried tomatoes, with the saltiness of the sea bass, all packed into the dish. So you definitely need to eat it with the rice.
There is an automatic 19% gratuity added to your check makes it easy.
If I go back, I want to try the lobster fried rice and the roast duck.
Matt Somar
Great atmosphere and food. I had the chicken and waffles for brunch. The fried green tomatoes here, are the best I've had.
gary dollar
The bread here was so good, especially the biscuits. I also had the veggie plate which was excellent. The service was great as well.
Dylan Prévost
Excellent southern food with all the classics! Special marks on the fried green tomatoes
Tj
Good food but it was so loud there. I couldn't have a conversation with the people at my table and the waiter couldn't hear my order and kept asking me to repeat it. Not sure if I'll go back if that's the norm for this place.
Daniel Seidner
We were incredibly pleased with the food, drinks, and staff at South City. They were busy and I appreciate a waitlist that text messages you when they're ready for your party. We told the server that we'd split the fried chicken, and they were kind enough to literally split the dish in two for us (prevents fighting over who gets what!). Dracarys was an excellent cocktail and the pimento cheese was a tasty appetizer.
David Benson
Good food, but not quite what me and my friends were expecting.
Rico DeBastien
Could have went either way! Ok so we made reservations and we sat at our table as soon as we hit the door. Perfect little table In the outside area. So the waiter must have had an attitude before us but he tried his best to hold it in; off putting but not the worse. We order drinks that came so fast that it came before the water. Again not a bad thing just different. So we ordered an app and our main! It was like 5 minutes later our main course hit the table. And yes it was HOT and delicious. But here’s what was odd, no bread or our appetizers. Again not bad but weird. Suddenly our apps were ready. The waiter came over and said you will not be charged again a great jester without needing my request, in manger also came over and apologized. We were cool and the food was great so there was no pressure. The food was awesome as you can tell. TRUST ME IT LOOKED BETTER before I realized to take a picture. So before and after. 😂😂 I left a wonderful tip and will be back. The waiter might have had an off day and I really wanted it to try to change it. I thinks that’s why we let everything play out with a positive attitude. Can’t wait to return.
Nora Tovar
Outstanding! The fried chicken was crispy, perfectly seasoned and juicy... our waiter was superb and so were the cocktails. A must try!
Donovan Black
Really enjoyed the delicious food our server was very kind and helpful with the menu. Will definitely go back next time I am in Atlanta.
David Plourde
I would recommend South City Kitchen to everyone.
The atmosphere is fantastic. It is a great place for an intimate date or to take colleagues from from work.
henry winkle
Traveler friendly. Nice enough to take my bag for me while waiting for a hotel check in. King biscuit is an affordable delicious option for Sunday brunch.
Daniel Durkin
Decadent and delicious! I was sad there was no fried chicken sandwich for lunch, but the fried green tomatoes and the king biscuit more than made up for it. Plan to take a nap after.
Cindy Smith
Great atmosphere. Very attentive staff.
Lindsey Cline
She crab soup was tasty, bisque-like as the waiter said, so just a little crab. The crab cake was excellent! Thick, LOTS of crab, not a lot of filler. Mac and cheese side was sooo creamy. And the complimentary little biscuits melt in your mouth.
Angelica Srivoraphan
Truly enjoyed this place. Nestled in the heart of midtown in a beautiful old house. Definitely recommend making a reservation for brunch but we were able to sit at the bar and had a wonderful meal. Chicken and waffles were absolutely delicious. Smoked brisket benedict was a great mix of flavors and the grits were divine!
Kevin George
Service is good and fast, the servers are eager to help. I had the fried chicken dish which is a favorite for many customers. It tastes amazing and is incredibly good. It's easy to see that this restaurant didn't get high ratings for no reason
Raelynn Kelly
I don't eat grits but I eat their shrimp and grits absolutely delicious 😋. I didn't eat grits until I was 51 and a half years old I ate the whole bowl. And their Chicken and waffles felt like my grandma🥰 was in the kitchen. I will be back!
Joey Wynn
Great location with fantastic staff, the food was good, but the fried chicken portions were small.
Clay and Heidi Haldeman
Quaintness factor a plus for this eatery located in heart of Atlanta's midtown....modern decor with open kitchen in a renovated old world bungelow. Kitchen turns out palate pleasing seasonally-inspired dishes as well as modern takes on many southern favorites. Service was prompt and David our waiter did an excellent job on recommendations for my husband's and my differing palates. We shared several items for a late night, small plates dinner. Beautifully plated dishes dressed with a variety of well-paired inhouse fresh, pickled,or grilled veggies. You will not be disappointed with any of these starters--She crab soup, peach salad, lump crab cake, fried green tomatoes, Yummy!! Although the lamb ribs were quite tasty, they were too sweet for my palate and needing an additional touch of finishing salt for balance and to make the savory side of this dish pop; really nice outer chewy, sweet glaze and tender ribmeat insides, Mmmm. Our main course of porkchop although very good tasting and juicy was not as appealing in texture. Unsure if this was affected by the brining or cooking processes that evening, but if you enjoy pork as your preferred white meat, then I would say give it a try since sauce and veg relish served on this plate is very complementary to the chop. For drinks beyond hydration.....well if you're this close to whiskey country you'd best try their signature old fashion--delish! Appreciated the table service and pairings by waiter David very much! as well as tableside visits from both sous-chef David G. and the manager. We'll definitely be back to this location. Thanks for a great late night meal 😋
Tara Lynch
Top notch service for our large party. The biscuits are to die for. Everything was hot, fresh, and delicious. These pictures are the BBQ pork and the fried chicken plates.
Maureen Cheung
Best fried green tomato I've ever had in my life. Rich crab soup. Great food!
Real Estate Agent Matthew Menshew eXp Realty
Great service, and the food is even better!!
Rx Doc
Cozy atmosphere. Place was crowded but seated quickly. Fried green tomatoes were phenomenal and the fried chicken, mashed potatoes and greens were amazing. Will definitely visit again!
Gayle Middleton
Our server recommended several classic southern dishes, since it was our first time there, and all were totally fantastic. Everything is made in-house. The pimento cheese was awesome, paired with the bread and butter pickles. The fried chicken was crispy and moist. I find myself thinking about this dinner days later. You locals are sure lucky.
Rhonda Lawson
Delicious food, great drinks, friendly wait staff in a beautiful setting. I will definitely be back!
Mikey Park
Came here for breakfast on a sunday morning. Hostess was great. Staff and waiter were good and friend. Really liked the clean but cozy decor of the restaurant. I tried their breakfast plate and chicken and waffles. They were both good, but nothing spectacular or extraordinary for me to rave about. Makes me regret not trying their eggs benedict because those sounded great.
Kwasi C
Not a bad spot. I was average. I saw quail o. the menu and tried it as a first time thing. Not sure if its now the served it, but it's more likely the nature if the meat, but it's very bony and small and I didnt enjoy it to much.
Courtney Tousana
Wow, the food and drinks were amazing and reasonably priced. I was overwhelmed by the warm welcome not only by the host Colleen, but also by our server Daniel! Everything that I needed he was already one step ahead of me. Above and beyond is an understatement. Each one of my guest had something nice to say about Daniel’s service. I highly recommend this restaurant and I’ve heard a lot about their weekend brunch, so I’ll definitely be back!
Robb Louk
Pablo, our server was on top of everything, we lacked for nothing. Great sense of humor and made sure that although this was our first time it would not be our last time at South City.
I grow my own and make my own fried green tomatoes, but when I tried theirs, I told my wife I was making them wrong. Thickly sliced and topped with goat cheese and then deep-fried in a Panko crust and served on a red pepper coulis, I could have loaded up on several platefuls and been perfectly content. My fried chicken was served on a mashed potato and collard green bed and was simply perfect. My wife had a fried chicken salad which she heartily recommends. The coconut layer cake was drizzled in a pineapple sauce and was light and refreshing, haven’t had anything quite like it. The South will definitely rise again, if this fine restaurant has anything to do with it. Definitely was a casual and relaxed place to grab a bite.
Ms. Malone
Really good food, charming atmosphere and excellent service. I went for brunch so it can be a bit noisy if you're conversing. Also a bit pricey. Overall, great experience. I'd return!
Mark Gardner
Everything everyone in our party had for dinner here was excellent. The service is great and even on a busy night our food came out quickly. You get every dollar's worth in flavor and attention to detail. I can't recommend this restaurant enough.
Courtney Hamlett
Came here for our daughter's birthday and was not disappointed to say the least!! From beginning to end the service was stellar...food was AMAZING and the drinks were strong!! Let's talk about them biscuits and cornbread...melt in your mouth deliciousness...the chicken..crispy and tender and the waffles...light and fluffy...every time we come to Atlanta this is a must stop and eat here restaurant!! Thank you for a wonderful experience!!!
Tamika Mars
Have been here several times. The fried chicken is juicy and good. The collard greens taste good for a chain restaurant. The pork chop is ok. Skip getting the oysters, too small and too much bread crumbs. Nice place to have a good drink and fried chicken once in a while.
Mario Reece
Food was awesome as someone who is going through stage four kidney failure and can not eat everything. The food was well seasoned. The waiter and staff was friendly and attentive to everything. He definitely got a five star tip. We was set on going to OLG but after reading the reviews for that place and coming here. We are %110 proud of the change and choice we made.
Nicholas Luther
Absolutely amazing establishment. Great service and food. Had the she-crab soup with the catfish reuben for lunch. Fantastic combination. Price worth the wait (if you didn’t make a reservation).
Sabrina F Salters
Had the pleasure of having breakfast with my sister. Manny was our server and he did an excellent job with providing us with a first-time experience. Manny made several great suggestions for our meal and he continued to provide excellent service throughout the experience. I had salmon and grits and my sister had shrimp and grits and for dessert they gave her a banana pudding dessert for her birthday. I would definitely come back to this location.
Nayara Oliveira
The place is fantastic and has delicious food; it is worth the money.
scott terry
On our recent visit to Atlanta we happened to choose South City Kitchen for lunch on our first day in town and could not have been more pleased. Our server Michael was superb. His warm southern hospitality along with his knowledge of the menu had us feeling at home in no time. The food was incredible and we had wished we were coming for dinner versus lunch as the larger entrees seemed amazing. Definitely try the fried green tomatoes, you won't be disappointed.
Luni Kutthroat
Came to brunch for my wife’s bday. From the few bites I had the food was good. But I asked for shrimp & grits with no ham, while eating I found ham in my food. I don’t eat pork or beef. My wife examined the ham to make sure it was ham for sure. It was! Told the waitress & this is when everything went downhill. She took my plate, brought another one back to the table & said it could’ve been a pepper or something. WOW!!! At that point I didn’t want anything else I was ready to go. The manager even came & didn’t make the situation any better. Easily could’ve been a lawsuit depending on who it was. I could’ve been allergic. This definitely wasn’t the experience I wanted for my wife’s birthday brunch.
Patrick Tisdel
Wonderful food (try the she-crab soup)! Great and quick service.
Martin Salazar
The food, service, drinks and atmosphere were fantastic, but I feel the price is a little high. That said, it's hard to put a price on food done to perfection. I'm going to go back, if everything is as consistently good as it was my first time I'll probably give it 5 stars.
Jenn F
Great place for Atlanta brunch! Classic as well as unique cocktails. Southern food with a fancy presentation. I had the fried chicken with collard greens & mashed potatoes with a grapefruit bellini. My brunch companion had the brisket sandwich and a Mr. Brightside cocktail...creamy espresso liqueur drink that was heaven. The sandwich came with homemade potato chips. We also split fried green tomatoes to start and they were some of the best I've had. Portions were generous. We both took leftovers home. Excellent service. Great for both dressy, classy or casual brunch.
Elizabeth Faulkner
Southern dining select Southern foods cornbread, flaky mouth watering warm biscuits, several fish options, fried chicken, pasta dishes, wait staff friendly ( Cavin) aimed to please! Fried chicken, mash potatoes, collard greens delicious. Top off with dessert coconut cream cake. Wonderful experience.

Had a great experience, everything I ordered was wonderful. My server was amazing.

We went for brunch on a Wed only to find out they only do brunch on weekends. . . but we did have lunch and it was delicious!
Joshua Jacobs
“Pack up and Go” made reservations for my wife and I here and we are glad they did. Everything from start to finish was very good!
Lawrence Iverson
Calvin was our server, and he was excellent. We are in town on business and just found this place a few minutes from our hotel in Midtown.
We had the fried green tomatoes to start, the fried chicken dinner and strawberry cake to finish. Along with a couple of adult beverages.
We sat on the patio just across the street from the Club Dominion, This place kept us entertained for the whole time we were at dinner.
Again our server Calvin was a five-star server, we just want to say thank you for being our first experience in Atlanta.
Sheila Ramos
The service wasn't great but the food was delicious! Best green tomatoes ever 😜
Kevin Earley
The food was top notch! I loved the friend chicken. They also had great fried green tomatoes and I don’t normally eat them, but these led to an exception. Make sure you have a reservation, it gets crowded. I would definitely go back.
Tracy Gaines
Excellent! Everything!!!!!!
I had the King Breakfast Sandwich & it was phenomenal. Fried green tomatoes were perfect.
Melissa D
The Pimento Cheese appetizer was wonderful, served with crackers, celery sticks, & bread-&-butter pickles. The fried chicken (served with collard greens & garlic mashed potatoes) was also very good. Unfortunately, I didn't care much for the New Orleans Shrimp dish -- way too much pepper that I could barely taste anything else. Also, the shrimp tasted like moss, so I only took a couple of bites. They also served our shrimp dish about 15 minutes before they brought out the chicken dish. Still, I think this is a good restaurant & bar. Employees were very friendly & attentive.
Angus Bennion
Good spot for brunch. Waffles were super fluffy, fried chicken was flavorful, she crab soup was smooth and had a pleasant kick of spice. The coffee tasted like it was a bit over-roasted, but I enjoyed everything else.
Vincent Mitchell
Good food.Loved my chicken and waffles. Their greens, however, were a little too acidic tasting. Nice vibe. A little pricey. No street parking available and the parking lots nearby cost way too much at $20.
S mingram
The food is so good! Started with fried green tomatoes (probably some of the best I've ever had), fried chicken with mashed potatoes (you must have this!) side dish of quinoa with sautéed vegetables, just amazing! We sat at the bar, the staff couldn't have been more gracious and friendly. Thus is such a must go, over and over to try everything on the menu!
Leslie Mizerak
Outstanding! That is all that needs to be said.
The fried chicken was to die for. The biscuits (did I mention that I strongly dislike biscuits) were amazing. The service was wonderful and welcoming. I did not have a reservation so I took a seat at the bar and my server was Ashley (fantastic)- be sure to ask for her.
Can’t wait to come back to ATL for my next meetings just so I can have another outstanding 🍗dinner.
Mel L
We came here for my friends birthday and we had a great experience! We sat at the bar to start and the bartender was very attentive and helpful.
Sibela was very thoughtful and provided a great experience over all. I can’t wait to come back!
Anwar Tawfique
Staff was super friendly.. We went on Sunday for brunch and the manager approached us as well as other tables to greet them and make them feel welcomed. Chicken and waffles were great!
Service was amazing. Look forward to coming back.
Tina Thode
Don't miss this one. Awesome food, the best service and a great way to spend an evening.
Steve Da Cunha
From the service to the food this place is great. Dishes are southern style serving a variety of meal options like grits, shrimp, fried chicken, etc. Cocktails looked and tasted great with nice signature options available. All in all prices are reasonable as well and you definitely get the quality service and food appropriate for what you're paying. Will come again if in the city.
Mark Rynda
Always amazing. We come every time we’re in town. Our server Autumn today is excellent!
Kit Parker
The food was great until we got a hair in the pimento cheese....
Nick White
Best food I had in Atlanta. Wonderful service, incredible presentation, amazing quality. Local vegetables were 10/10. Mimosas were exceptional. Top recommendation.
H Chan
Very friendly staff and fantastic food. Traveled solo to Atlanta and had brunch and dinner here. Great spot for solo travelers. You get to sit at the bar and watch them prepare the food. No waiting!
Liza Peralta
Clean environment and very nice staff... the food is delishhhhh...try the chicken liver. It's a must!!!
Yas Smith
Had Sunday brunch with a girlfriend, the food was amazing, service was good and COVID procedures were being followed by staff/customers. I love that SCK is so consistent! 😊 …
Morgan Langley
This place is a must stop in atlanta! Great food and service! Top notch ingredients in food and drinks.
Natalie Goode-Henry
Excellent place for brunch. Food, customer service and ambience was amazing.
Douglas Bailey
Best biscuits and corn bread you’ll ever meet. And then there’s the fried chicken! Location was great, as was the ambience, service, and portion size.
Tim Macklin
Food is outstanding, but the noise level is worth a whole star (if not more). Loud dining rooms can be a healthy sign that you're in a place with great food. SCK is no different. The Midtown location ALWAYS leaves me with tinnitus and a hoarse voice the next morning. If you love their food (and I do) then hit the Alpharetta location. A little less character, but you can have a conversation while you enjoy the kitchen's wonderful output.
Tessa Rogers
The porkbelly was delicious but other than that, I don't have many good things to say.
the fried chicken was way too salty and the collard greens had no flavor
Frannie Turner
I love this location. The service, servers, food & drinks are always great. Also, the best time to go ia during the week when you can really enjoy the atmosphere without the loud weekend crowds
Lisa Jones
Malcolm C., did a phenomenal job with his service for our dining experience. When you go there please ask for him by name you will not be disappointed.
Warnetta GivensDuncan
The food was enjoyable and affordable also the atmosphere was very pleasant upstairs !
Sky Love
Crunchy fried chicken and some of the best collard greens I have eaten! The service was also on point. My sis said her mussels were delicious.
Santas Little Helper
The best southern restaurant I’ve ever been to…including grandmas house.
jamonae scarborough
Food and service was great! Get the fried chicken, you won't be disappointed!
Ashley BBWQueen
Please READ..Me and my family came from out of town and were seeking a good place to eat. I googled South City Kitchen and based off the good reviews we decided to try it. Omg it is very good the fried chicken is so good and the greens and mashed potatoes. Friendly staff, also guests can eat upstairs or downstairs. We will definitely be back. Also once we got home my mother forgot her purse we called the restaurant and they had it. Vanessa the restaurant manger even shipped my mom purse to her and we live in Ohio. Everything was in her purse nothing missing and we are truly thankful because she didn't have to help us but she did and we will never forget how nice everyone was to us. Thank you South City Kitchen for everything.
Mark
Fantastic brunch spot! The King Biscuit was amazing!! Great service and atmosphere!
Megan Metzger
We were driving through ATL and had time for only one place. THIS WAS THE PLACE! It had amazing service, delicious food and a beautiful atmosphere. Our waiter made great suggestions and the food was unbelievable. We will be back and highly suggest it.
Eunice Yunjung Nam
Southern tradition! :) I loved there jumbo crab cake :) all the different flavors served in harmony
Lauren Bentley
Absolutely delicious everytime. Service is wonderful.
Property Manager
Jennifer is the best waitress. The food was amazing. Great way to spend my birthday
Ashley Wang
Brunch for three on a Saturday. Food was divine - ordered the peach salad for an appetizer which we split before our main courses. Two of us got the King Biscuit (but with fried chicken instead of ham) and the other got the crab cake. Service was prompt and friendly. Extensive cleaning between tables and seating was spaced out. Would absolutely recommend and would return without hesitation.
Avianne
Food and was great! The peach salad was off da chaaaaain!!!!!
Japanishaè Lì
Not the best place for a vegetarian but, the food was good and our server was great! No complaints.
Jessica Mabrey
Our service was awesome! The food was excellent. Well worth the price tag!
Neal Niswender
Great food. Courteous and knowledgeable service staff. We really enjoyed how they take southern cuisine and put their own unique and very yummy twist on it. Both of us cleaned our plates. Also, there is street parking and a convenient pay to park lot adjacent.
Thaddeus Abram
Biscuits and true cornbread muffins are delicious, add in the apple butter.....awesome!! Highly recommend chicken and collards. If you're not fan of bone in chicken, ask for chiken tenders...they're faster and just as seasoned 😉.
Melissa Goodman
We found South City when we were craving comfort food and didn’t regret it! The fried chicken with spectacular in the crabcake was very tasty indeed. The cornbread muffins are spectacular. We loved it!
Yvette Yvonne
The menu has been updated and is exceptional. This is an amazing place to visit for lunch, brunch and dinner! Calvin was amazing. We totally recommend and are grateful for our experience.
Ebony Ross
THE BEST FRIED GREEN TOMATOES IN THE CITY. 10/10! The service was good. We also ordered the crab cake app and fried chicken entree which were both amazing as well. Unique cocktails. They have brunch also so we’ll be back for sure!
Scott J Jordan
Been at least 8 years since we have been here.
I CAN SAY WITHOUT A DOUBT EVEN BETTER THAN BEFORE!!!
Claims Design
Great food and the staff were very knowledgable. Would definitely return!
Niles Stewart
Great time for lunch, the fried chicken was excellent and our server Rachel was world class
Krispijn Plettenberg
During my short stay in ATL, this was a highlight for sure. I took a friend out for a Sunday lunch and it was excellent. The staff is friendly, professional and fast. We both ordered fried chicken, different plates, both were finger licking good. If returning to ATL, I will definitely try to go for dinner here.
Day J
My daughter picked this location for a birthday brunch. Waitress we had took a long time to serve. She didn't have a great server attitude. One waiter who wasn't servicing our table had the best server personality. And introduced a very good banana pudding dessert. First impression is the key. I might give this location another chance but not so soon.
Thanks to the waiter who made a disappointment in service a good reason to have celebrated my daughter's birthday.
Elaine Breard
Amazing food and the waitors were amazing also. We will be back
Jennifer Hennequant
The food was good, but very salty! I had the local vegetable plate as that was the best option for a vegetarian. The fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese were also a hit with our group too!
Gaby Lovera
The food is fantastic! The service is top-notch. Our server was knowledgeable of the menu and gave us some amazing recommendations. We had the beer salad with goat cheese which is a must! My sister had the crab bisque, which was rich and creamy. Our entrees consisted of fried chicken and pork chop dishes. Both proteins were cooked sublimely. My only critique would be the wine sauce that accompanied the pork. I do not think it was reduced enough. It was somewhat bitter and the taste of alcohol was still heavily present.
Nonetheless, my experience was wonderful. I will definitely be back next time!
P.S. The complementary cornbread and biscuits was fantastic.
Roberto Lara Polan
Food was delicious. You have to try the fried green tomatoes! Waiter began a little a pompous but improved though the course of time.
Maggie Matthews
Noticeably fresh, multiple stand out dishes. It's a bit cramped but that seems to come with the style a lot want for this style of fine dining. Atmosphere gives steakhouse vibes.
Davian Gekman
Really cozy nice place. Gets very busy during the evenings so I would suggest getting a reservation. The peach pie dessert is really good, and I recommend to get :)
Brandy Adams
Made a reservation about a week/week an half in advance and mentioned that it would be our 4 year anniversary. When arriving we had a very awkward table right by the entrance and they were setting up tables behinds us which was super crowded and LOUD. We were first greeted by a very sweet gentleman who also ran our food but our server was very dry and blunt with us. He never made eye contact, never smiled, and was honestly rushing us. I was recommended this place by a few friends of mine but maybe I just have to check out a different location. Kinda disappointed for a $$ meal.
William Ivey
Overall: good southern food at a price point well above its taste.
If you want good southern food, hit it up; if you want an excellent upscale southern meal (which you will be paying for), you will walk out feeling a little disappointed. I visited around 09/15/2020.
Ambience is rustic southern, accented by the fair bit of wood paneling. I got the rundown of their Covid precautions and that a 20% 'operations' charge would be added to my bill in lieu of tip; reasonable enough. My waiter was what you expect - polite and mild-mannered - and his service was great.
I ordered the recommended She-Crab soup as an app and the fried chicken with collards and mashed potatoes for the entree. The She-Crab soup was very good- I wouldn't have minded more crab, but overall the sherry was just right.
South City's 'signature' fried chicken: it's very good, with my compliments to the chef for hitting the sweet spot of moistness, even in the center of the chicken. However, the breading left the chicken down. I could tell the breading was done in house and it was 'good,' but it wasn't great.
The biggest disappointments for me were the collards and the mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were seasoned well and creamy, but again, they were 'good.' The collards were okay at best: very bitter/ slightly undercooked, and are not cooked in a traditionally southern way (bacon/pork added during the cooking process to cut bitterness and enhance flavor).
PO
Food and drinks were great! The fried green tomatoes were cooked perfectly with a delicious pamblano sauce and olive oil. The fried chicken was crispy and tender. The collard greens were fresh, tasty and had just the right amount of crunch. Highly recommend!
Nadia Dean
Great food and service. Clean and amazing atmosphere.
Brittany Moore
The vibes here were amazing. The food and drinks were on point. Staff was friendly and helpful as well. Service was a little slow but it was Saturday brunch in Atlanta so it’s too be expected.
Marc James
My first visit to the Midtown location and once again South City does not disappoint. This time I had the Carolina Trout. The fish was crisp and moist and seasoned to perfection. The two fillets were laid on a bed of lightly cooked vegetables that were also still crisp. The menu turns my salivary glands on high. The service was excellent as well!

Delicious food, great service! The fried chicken is special. We ordered the brisket spoon bread for the table, it was good, but not better than their fries green tomatoes. Plates run between $24-50, so it's def not cheap, but it was def delicious!
Ankita
Delicious food. Will be returning soon to try other dishes on the menu.

Excellent Southen food and great service. A must try restaurant when in Atlanta!

Hearing about SCM I was very excited to try the cuisine. Upon arriving at the restaurant the Hostess was VERY VERY VEEEERY RUDE! She had no business being the first contact for the customer of this fine establishment. After being seated the waitress was very pleasant. She was cheerful and accommodated all our wants and desires. I started with the She-crab soup which was very good. I followed that with the Chicken and Waffles. The dish was perfect! Chicken breast was perfectly cooked and the waffle was crispy wet moist on the inside. I give the establishment 5***** but the hostess get 0* so that explains my 3 star rating.

Great food! Must try the fried green tomatoes here. Pleasant atmosphere. Be prepared to wait though, best to make a reservation.

Great restaurant. Amazing southern dishes and great service.

Food and the service was amazing and not expensive at all. 100% guarantee I will be returning.

It has been a few years since my last time dining at South City Kitchen, but this is a place that has not let itself slip in standards. The food is still outstanding and the service is attentive. Our table of 7 tried a variety of dishes and everyone loved their choices. The cauliflower appetizer was a standout for me. Our server was knowledgeable about all of the food options as well as the wine pairings. Water glasses were refilled without having to be asked. Definitely worth it!

Ordered the fried green tomatoes and fried chicken - everything was delicious, generous portions, and very decadent. Friends ordered crab cakes, salad, grits, and they all loved their food.
Cocktails were underwhelming, I personally was not a fan.
The restaurant is extremely loud. I highly suggest an outside table if you can get it. Hard to hear people right in front of me.

Love the food, Steady Hand IPA and service is good as well

Great service and great tasting southern specialty food! My stomach was not big enough.
Niles Stewart
The fried chicken was excellent and our server was amazing.

Great service, great food, the waiter said they have been there for 29yrs!

A bit pricey for southern food. Good flavours though.

So I stayed at the Moxy Hotel for work and since South City is right around the corner I wanted to give it a shot and I was not disappointed!! The food was excellent, arguably the best Shrimp & Grits that I’ve ever had. I sat at the bar and Bree is AMAZING!! The Fried Chicken was also delicious. If you are in the area this place is worth the trip!

A 5/5 rating is reserved for "life changing" food. This is a 5/5. Honestly, the review writes itself. The biscuits and peach compote alone would make this place unforgettable. But no, the sweet tea is not only ridiculously good, it's FREE refills. Hello?! Jesus, did you come down here from heaven and decide to open a restaurant? Amazing grace, how sweet your tea. Also, you get fried chicken that's 5/5, service that's 5/5, and literally anything else on the menu, you guessed it, 5/5.

The food here is amazing. I loved the fried green tomatoes and fried chicken. What impressed me most was the staff. The Manager Michael was super friendly and even though he was juggling multiple things, he made a point to chat with me. The Bartender was also really nice.

Going to Atlanta means I need to have some good southern cookin’! I was not disappointed with this super delicious dish. The chicken was crispy while being nice and juicy. One thing different is that the flavour is super savoury with lots of spices. The collared greens were delicious and loved the mash that went with it.
… and complimentary corn bread?!? Yes, please!
Terry Williams
South City is the place to eat. That home style, southern cooking. The chef 👩🍳 gets a thumbs 👍 up. Wonderful!!!!
Allan Nyirenda
The chicken was seasoned for days. You can tell folks know how to prepare food. Not a fan of crab cakes but I got a taste for it. I am now revising my aversion for crab cakes in general. The biscuits were terrific. And if you think the food was great, the server was even better.
Lori Leberman
Always delicious and can accommodate my celiac/gluten free requests.
Gianluca Bruno
I started with the been fried tomatoes and had the fried chicken as my main course, with greens and mash potatoes. Everything was incredibly good.

Good was good and tasty. Service was top notch midtown location. Spoon cornbread and brisket a bit salty for my taste but good. Fried chicken on point I always say if you can get and white meat chicken and it not be dry yeah on point. Will visit again.

Excellent Service...the best collards I think I have had at a restaurant...a decent lump crab cake (I'm from Baltimore and it's hard to impress me) and I'm coming back for the she crab soup!!! Thank you for a nice birthday dinner, South City Kitchen!

Great southern dishes! I had Roast turkey meal 🫶🏽 …

The brisket sandwich is delicious! The bread before your meal comes is also warm and delicious! Reservations are best as they can get crowded.

This restaurant and location is one of my absolute faves! We were seated promptly and the food, service was great! The she crab soup was so delicious as well as the trout and short ribs. Yum!!!

I want to start by saying the food is absolutely delicious!!!! I would've given five stars, but our server wasn't as friendly as I'd prefer. I do recall his name but find me disclosing it would be rude. The staff whom brought the food was MUCH nicer. I'd return in the future... :)

Dropped by for some southern cuisine and I'm so glad I did!
All the tables were occupied so sat at the counter. At the entrance, they were a bit cold and not welcoming but it probably has to do with how busy they were. One waiter was not that friendly but the waitress was really attentive. The regular customers told me their fried chicken could be the best and I believe it! Everything was cooked perfectly and liked the warm biscuit and the mini cornbread.
I saw other dishes my neighbors ordered and they all looked good. I hope I can come back here. Maybe I should make a reservation if I plan to come as a group especially.

Wonderful, great customer service! Decided that we were going to have a bozzy brunch. Fun time had by all, and South City divided our food so that we could share...we didn't have to ask. Would go back again!
Mark Jennings
Great food and service! Try the farmer's chicken!
Frances Reyes
Great recommendations from our server! The fried chicken salad was excellent and the peach hand pie with ice cream was fabulous. This was my first business lunch in a long while and I'm glad I started there.

This food will make you feel so good. It is southern food at it's finest. I had the Springer Farms fried chicken (which is what they are known for) with Collards and mashed potatoes. I was in heaven. The seasoning was on point and the quantity so plentiful.
Now, let me tell you about this Boody Mary. I have had many Bloody Marys, some good and some not so much. This one was number one. The first sip that I took I knew it was something different. The bartender explained that the drink was infused with fresh Chipotle peppers. The Smoky flavor that it gave the bloody Mary was absolutely amazing. Just the right amount of spicy!! Going back next Sunday, reservations already made!
Rox S
Great place for brunch and friendly service. Shout out to Jamar who took very good care of our party.
Angela Chack
Loved the food, service, and ambience. My only critique was that all the food was a little too salty except for the fried chicken and fried tomato.
We ordered the grilled fish, shrimp and grits, veggie curry, and pimento cheese.
Kate Stahl
We frequent the location in Buckhead and love it. We stopped in late one evening on the way home from the airport. The service was very good but the food was not what we expected. Just a little overcooked but compared to other restaurants still above average. Wonderful service, the brunch was delicious. We ordered the she crab soup and XL biscuit sandwich and they were both good. My only complaint is I needed more crab in my soup. We will definitely go back.
B M
Love their fried chicken!! Tomatoes were not good as I expected.

Came here because a friend of mine worked here and highly recommended the food. I was not impressed. I cam for brunch and it was ok. It wasnt bad but overall my dishes werent memorable. There are far better places for brunch in this area.
Overall, I might come back if others wanted to but it wouldn't be my first choice or my recommended choice. The service was nice but the flavors did not wow me.
Nate Gibson
Amazing food, best chicken and waffles I’ve had. Delicious cornbread, great brunch cocktails, and excellent coffee. Servers were lovely and service was fast.
Madison Grinnell
Great brunch spot. Loved the lobster bisque.

First time here and food and service was excellent. Our waiter was nice, efficient and attentive. The manager came to our table to ask how we were doing and of course we said everything was great. Thanks for making our post vaccination first time gathering with friends a great experience.

Visited Monday for a friend's birthday lunch. She arrived a little after me and requested a table for 4 on the patio. I sat out at the table while she waited for the rest of the party, about 5 minutes later. From the time I was seated we had not been acknowledged, at least 10 minutes. We had to ask for some service and the guy ended up being the manager. He got us our waters and ended up comping the fried green tomatoes I ordered. The complimentary biscuits and cornbread were moist and tasty, and so was the butter. I had the shrimp and grits which looked more like a gumbo but was delicious nonetheless. The shrimps were quite large and they make sure to give you a good amount. We all enjoyed our food and had a great lunch. They even gave her a cute, complimentary birthday dessert.

Had a great time! Food was excellent. Staff were great! We had a fun time!

Amazing food. Best she crab soup!

This was one of the best experiences that I have had going out. I was on a hot date and this was the perfect place. The food was wonderful. The service was superb. The drink 619 has become my favorite. It is Tequila based. Our server “Andy” was the best. My date and I had a 7pm reservation. It was a beautiful rainy night. We stayed there until it closed. Didn’t even want to leave this place. Very welcoming and we all need that during these times. Worth every penny. Highly recommended:

REALLY good restaurant. This was my first time visiting to celebrate my significant other's birthday. The appetizers and the entrees were all REALLY good. We also had a great server with excellent customer service!
Tristan Kilburg
Excellent food preparations. Everything was delicious. And the staff was extremely friendly.
Jamie Kim
They seated us promptly during the lunch rush. Location is great but parking is just street parking. We ordered the pimiento cheese appetizer and shrimp &grits which was average. The fried chicken meal was delicious though! Also, you get a biscuit and corn bread basket and they were made fresh and oh so perfectly.
Would definitely come again👍

Tasty southern style comforting food. Great service by all the staff and a really pleasant meal.

Food is outstanding, especially the fried chicken. Price is a bit high for the experience.

A friend wanted to catch up for lunch, and suggested we grab it at South City Kitchen. It was a solid choice. I ordered the pimento cheese burger and I thought it was an average to slightly above average burger. My friend ordered the fried chicken, and it cooked to perfection. If I go back, no doubt I'm ordering it.
Our server was great, as he was very attentive and prompt. The restaurant is much bigger than it appears outside and we didn't have to wait to be seated. It was an excellent place to have lunch with a friend and catch up.
Jettyos D
I enjoyed this restaurant. Made a reservation here and the staff was friendly and helpful. The food was well seasoned and their signature fried chicken was tasty. Also tried the pork chop and a couple of appetizers which were all prepared well and delicious. Great spot for a nice dinner in midtown Atlanta. Enjoy!

The restaurant is located in Midtown Atlanta GA, near Georgia Tech. Traffic is horrible getting to this place (maybe it’s because I’m not a local and required my GPS for directions). Not the fault of the restaurant, but something to consider if you have time constraints (which we did, lol). Service is what I call very formal and professional. The place is very clean, the food was visually appealing and tasted great. The restaurant atmosphere is what I call stuffy or no energy (again not the restaurants fault). I believe the restaurant caters to an older clientele base. If you want a great meal and enjoy distraction free dining, this is your place.

On my family vacation, we decided to end it at sun city kitchen. This was a phenomenal decision, as the food and manager (Mike) were outstanding. The single best fried chicken I’ve ever had, and a stellar service and kind hospitality from mike. Thank you for placing the cherry on top of our time here in Georgia. Highly recommend.

Great, brief experience. Ordered an upside down cake to go. Upon arrival it was ready. I was immediately greeted at the door and engaged while waiting on the brief packing of my dessert. The place was clean and romantic looking. Wonderful date vibe. Cake wasn't exactly what u expected but guess what. With the service and friendliness I received, I STILL rate them high and want to return

Today was my first experience at this location. I’m new to Georgia and I loved it! From the time I stepped in the door the service was excellent!! From the host to the kitchen everything was wonderful!! My server was professional and very attentive to me and his other tables. Food was amazing and was all done in a fashionable timing. When family come into town I will definitely come back and bring them along!! 🤗

Come here for a great representation of Southern cooking.

Absolutely ridiculously good. Perfect service. Amazing food

This restaurant is a gift sent from the Lord above. Starting with the bold play of peach compote and biscuits and sumptuous sweet tea, already my expectations were exceeded. Then they came in with your standard southern classics, where flavor had ascended to the ethereal plane. If you love yourself, you will come here

Food and services is awesome. I love it

Amazing atmosphere! Jenifer took time to explain the whole menu and made everything sound incredible. She was very friendly and attentive, can’t wait to come back!

This used to be a great place but the quality has gone down quite a bit. The strip wasn’t as juicy and flavorful as is like it to be. Not bad but not great and from this place I don’t expect anything short of Great. The salad was “terrible”, bitter! The pecan blond is desert was also on the bitter side, nothing great again. I’ve had much better. The cocktails were also average, didn’t exude as much flavor as I would like.
The only saving grace was the Vegetable plate which was outstanding. I would only come back for this. Full of flavor, perfectly cooked.

We had lunch at South City, very busy, lots of energy in the house. Great service, with many good recommendations - we had a Fried Catfish Rueben sandwich which sounded weird with sauerkraut and thousand island, but I will definitely have this treat again, it is CRAZY good! But weird to think about.... But really good. They are famous for the southern fried chicken, we love it. Also have to check out the shrimp and grits, it's awesome! Great menu. You will definitely find something amazing to try!

Went with a group from work, so table for 8. The person taking our orders clearly knows the menu well and had good suggestions for wines, both red and white. I got the boar dish and enjoyed it. It was saltier than I think it needed to be but the flavor was still good.
Kevin Moss
Holy cow the food was amazing! The She-Crab Soup and the Shrimps are a must!
