Reviews of Poor Calvin's

Poor Calvin’s certainly lived up to their reputation. Fine dining in a modern yet quaint little spot that is still spacious enough that you don’t feel enclosed. Customer service was exceptional with very good details on selections of all items including desserts. The food was excellent, especially the lobster mac and cheese. It should be noted that the food portions were very generous. I highly recommend making a reservation and there is a automatic 19% gratuity added to all bills.

Absolutely amazing experience. Food was delicious and beautifully plated. Drinks were potent and yummy. I could go on and on about the wonderful staff. We were seated immediately and courteously. Every meal was described in intricate detail, by a super friendly wait staff. Even the greeter made us feel welcome! We can’t wait to come back!

Divine! Met some colleagues here while in town for a trade show and was blown away by both the food and the service. Truly one of the best meals of my life. I can personally vouch for the Manhattan (best I’ve ever tasted), the Thai-inspired cocktail, the vegan fresh rolls, and the vegan curry. The chunks of vegan meat were expertly cooked. Wish this place was closer to home because I’d be a regular for sure.

Someway somehow this place has absolutely won my heart. I brought my husband here for his birthday the other night and they made him feel so so special. From the moment we walked in the door, the host and the bartenders went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. I had set a reservation for 9pm but I also saw it was there closing time so I came in an hour early to avoid any inconveniences with the kitchen and they found us a place at the bar immediately. The atmosphere is so relaxing and it is just beautiful inside and out. The drinks were amazing and I promise you every single one was made with precision and skill. We ordered deviled eggs as our appetizer which were phenomenal. For our two entrees we decided on the Sea bass and the Lamb chops. The sea bass was so juicy, packed with flavor, and so fresh I can say it was one of the best pieces of fish I’ve ever had and it was not even my plate! The lamb chops were cooked to perfection as well and remember the dishes can not be altered, the chefs worked hard to develop these specific pairings and it works well. Now the dessert tasted as if it were prepped in Heaven and this is coming from someone who does not care for sweets. We ordered a sort of sweet pound cake that was topped with caramelized bananas, ice cream, fresh strawberries, and whipped cream. Besides the pure talent of the staff I believe everything is so close to perfect because of the chemistry they all share. They motivate each other, keep each other laughing, and they move in sync. Gratuity is included in the bill which is excellent in my opinion but the service is so wonderful you can not help but to tip on top. I would absolutely love to visit again. Thank you for a beautiful experience.

Wow! You have to get the cocktail here! I found this place close to where I was staying. Seated by the bar for dinner and was immediately blown away by the attentive bar service and he knew the menu at the top of his head, amazing cocktail options I was recommended their house gin & tonic and it was just WOW. Ordered Thai seafood curry and their portion was generous, those smokey grilled seafood paired really well with their mildly spicy curry…yum! It was packed on a Sunday night! Highly recommended! Be ready to pay +19% gratuity fee but it’s all worth the experience and justified by their service level.

It's been a long while since I've had such a dining experience as I had here. This may be a new holiday tradition for us. The pricing is reasonable for the culinary experience. The lobster fried rice is beyond any rating. The atmosphere is perfect and rather cozy. The bartenders and staff are welcoming and know their menu, and the mixed cocktails with fresh ingredients knock this venue out of the park. The photos don't do our dining experience justice. This is one stop all should make. You won't regret the suggestion. I look forward to seeing the staff again, and one must not forget the delicious menu and drinks.
Cheers! 🍻🥃

Delicious drinks and excellent service. Our waiter Enoch made wonderful recommendations that left our entire table happy and satisfied! The fried chicken and lobster wonton were my favorite dishes. I would skip the deviled eggs if I went back again.

I know this place doesn't need another good review, but I'm here to give it anyway lol I've been here once before with a large group, but this time was for a random date night with the husband on a Monday. I was in a fried lobster tail kinda mood, so I had to go to the best place in town for it (also shown us the fried chicken)! We didn't have a reservation (I would highly recommend to make a reservation instead of trying to pop, tho), but the wait wasn't too long for us. Andre the bartender hooked us up with some delicious drinks and before we knew it we were being seated. Our server, Enoch, was hands down the absolute best. From drink recommendations, to his attentiveness, and to how quickly items came to the table, he truly made our experience so wonderful. Honestly, everyone on staff was phenomenal and very friendly. The atmosphere alone would draw me in for a drink and then I'd stay for the delicious food. Add me to the list of people who continue to recommend this gem of a spot in midtown Atlanta.

Calvin's was great. I was especially grateful that my allergy was accommodated as this goes a long way for those of us with allergies who aren't able to eat just any and everything. It's the little things that make up the big things. Our waiter was great on explaining the dishes and guided us pretty well. Our food was flavorful and lacked nothing-- not even salt. Great way to end my birthday weekend all planned out by my bf. Happy birthday to me. ☺ 🎉 🎂

Never knew of this place prior. Went there to meet some friends from out of town who saw it had great ratings online.
The place was hopping on an early Saturday evening.
Food is an excellent Mashup of Asian and Southern cuisine. Kudos to the chef!
Service was excellent with very personable wait staff who knew the menu inside out.
It is a lively spot, so if you're looking for a quiet, intimate spot, this is probably not it!
Only negative is the parking, which is very limited, so give yourself some extra time to find a spot.

We had the fried green tomatoes and crab for starters. Then the curry shrimp and lobster… and crispy beef as entrees. The food was very flavorful and the service from Anthony was excellent! The atmosphere is really pretty and homey at the same time.

I took my husband here for his 30th birthday and he said it was some of the best food he has ever had in his life! Our waitress Louise was very nice and recited the menu items like she was reading a poem. All of our food was delicious. My favorites was the lobster Mac and cheese, wontons, lamb, and lobster fried rice. We will be back when our pockets recover from the cost but it was worth every penny!

THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS! The service/bartenders/mangers/owner all so nice and worked really hard during a super busy time. We went at 5:30 on a Sunday and it was PACKED. The only con was that we sat at the bar and people hovered the entire time we were there (we are a couple and it would’ve been nice to enjoy our meal without all the people ordering drinks over our shoulders). Other than that- best meal in ATL.

My husband and I were looking for somewhere to eat last minute and he found this place. We called and they said they were booked but we could sit outside. So we did, with our baby in his stroller. It was fine until it started to drizzle. The staff was amazingly accommodating and got us right inside! We ordered drinks and a couple of entrées. Everything was so delicious! 5 stars on food, service, and atmosphere!

OH MY!!!!! My husband took me on a date to this restaurant and I have to say he has very good taste. From the service down to the ambiance and the food this restaurant was AMAZING! we went on a night where Chef Calvin himself was preparing the food and when I say it was delicious and tasty, I mean it. Will definitely be returning.

Guys this place is a must try!!! I literally had an outer body experience eating the food it was so amazing. And let me tell you...I am not easily impressed with food these days. It was so good that I had the lamb chops that came with mashed potatoes and asparagus. Then I also got the lobster fried rice to go. I convinced myself it was for the kids but who are we fooling 😅. I had lychee martini for drinks and it was delicious. I only regret not getting a dessert. Enjoy!

My first experience. I went for my birthday dinner last week and everything was amazing! My server Grace was extremely attentive and knowledgeable about everything. Her descriptions made it so easy to navigate the menu to pick what we wanted to get. Cocktails were well balanced. The food was deliciously flavorful and plated so beautifully. Definitely can’t wait until my next visit.
Jeanine Kelly
First visit to Poor Calvin’s and they did not disappoint. We had the seafood and grits, seafood grilled cheese, and the duck and shrimp. Everything was very flavorful and cooked perfectly. Our server, Joy, was also great! We will be back.
Rekita Thornhill
Went for my birthday, and it was amazing! We made reservations and were seated without waiting. The employees are super nice and the restaurant is beautiful. Valet service that works from tips is definitely a plus. The food was amazing! The lemongrass mussels were creamy and flavorful. The lobster rice was beautifully plated and delicious. I ordered the red velvet cake which was brought out with a candle to acknowledge my birthday. The cake itself was dreamy/heavenly. Awesome experience. I drink dark liquor so I had the rum drink which was smooth. Will definitely return!

This place was amazing. Everything that came to the table was delicious from appetizers to dessert. There's not a lot of parking here or valet but I did see a lot of people getting dropped off by Uber so that might be something to consider. I thought that seating would be cramped because it looks small but we were seated comfortably.Other than that it was amazing.
washeika felder
This was one of the best restaurants I have been to hands down. The waiter was knowledgeable, funny, attentive, and amazing. The food was everything I dreamed it would be, DELICIOUS 😋. BEST MUSSELS EVER! I enjoyed every bite, sip and smell. The drinks were awesome. It's pricey but worth evey penny. I am ready to go back, please don't pass up this Gem! Great job!

We had to wait for quite a while even with a reservation, but everything else somewhat made up for it. Our waiter was SO knowledgeable of the food and was very courteous. Do not be turned away from the price, it is worth every penny and the portions are huge. I had shrimp pad thai and baileys ice cream for dessert. It was so much I had to take it home. Everything was flavorful as well and the overall ambiance of the restaurant was wonderful.

Poor Calvin's has been a long awaited place to try for me. Every year something comes up and I end up somewhere else, not this year.
My wife and I went on a pretty busy Monday night with no reservation, bad mistake on our part. The hostess was polite through and through, and told us she would try to get us seated as soon as she could. I think we waited at most 15 to 20 minutes, which is good considering. Biggest advice I would give is to make a reservation, they handle customers very efficiently.
We ordered the Lobster Wontons, which was absolutely fantastic. The sauce was the best part, added a zest in flavor. Stir fry with fried fish in a pineapple, very nice mix of veggies and the sauce blended well together. Bison wrap, seasonal and ordered on recommendation by waitress, very good as well. Food was a solid 9 out of 10 for me.
Parking is recommended to use their valet. The gentleman handled my car with car, and little to no wait time upon leaving. Pull up to the side in front of the restaurant and look for the 'valet' sign.
Would definitely come again to Poor Calvin's for that special occasion. Service made the night, everyone was splendid.

I really wanted a quick visit but stayed due to the staff, the energy in the place. People were friendly and it is a good place to have dinner with friends. The Mixologist, Jordan was slamming down some good drinks. I probably went over mine conservative limit but I was in walking distance to the place I was staying.
I had a light appetizer, Steam Chicken and dumplings. The drinks, cappuccino martini, tequila Sunrise, lemon drop drink and a sapporo beer. I've met a woman that started her business 2 years ago and successfully pulled off a showing of her product. I thought that was cool. And all this is a good place to visit. They have security outside because the park across the street it's pretty much The walking Dead. You should be safe if you park away from the park.
I forgot to mention for the dumplings I was handed chopsticks. I thought that was pretty cool.

Ordered the Chilean sea bass and it was to die for!! The outside had a meatier texture & the inside was so flavorful and soft. The sauce was the perfect consistency and it was a unique combination of flavors. The quail egg was the perfect topper and the artichoke was tasty as well. I will definitely be returning to try other items!

Fantastic, quaint little restaurant. I took my girlfriend here this past Friday. Very warm, intimate setting. The staff was excellent! She had the grilled New Zealand lamb chops; I had the crispy beef. The food was great, as were the mixed drinks (a generous Hennessey Margarita & a Dixie Derby)! Even got a shot of Old Rip Winkle (the bartender poured it at the table; nice touch!). Next time I gotta try the dessert empenadas, because there will most definitely be a next time.

This place has a very cool ambiance. Low lit, donned with Buddha statues and twinkle lights, this place is a great one for a date night or drinks with friends. The servers were out of this world. Friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. We will definitely be going back!
Khalilah S
The ambience is soft, yet full of energy. Our server Andrè was amazing and very knowledgeable about the courses and even the drinks. We ordered Lobster Wontons & Frog Legs to share. Both were cooked well and plated beautifully. I had the Lobster Fried Rice which could serve 3 people. My daughters had Pineapple Fried Rice & Chicken and Waffle and they enjoyed the flavor combinations . We shared a pistachio ice cream with peach cobbler like dessert. Valet is nice too. The hostess was soooo patient with me & my very late party. The sat us even an hour or so after our reservation.

So we’ve been trying for months to come here. Let just say it was well worth the 2 hour drive! Excellent service and great food! The waitress was very knowledgeable and super sweet! We had to try the Lobster fried rice, that was just ok. Devils egg has an Asian twist and that was really good! Our personal favorite was the Chilean Sea bass. EXCELLENT!!! The Lamb chop was also very good. Ate too much so we didn’t get dessert. We will come back! Hubby tried the Pho drunk and he loved it.

Another highlight of the trip. Definitely a repeat for me. Food was exceptional and the service that Ashley provided to us was phenomenal! We live in Baltimore but next time we are in Atlanta we will definitely return.

Just finished eating here! Had a reservation at 9 PM. Arrived and we were immediately seated with no wait or trouble! Not sure if I’m spelling this right but Enok was our waiter! He was great!! The best I’ve experienced so far in Atlanta. When you go ask for him! His energy is everything! He will take care of you! Make sure you take care of him too!
⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
We had the lobster fried rice and fried chicken + lobster Mac n cheese + collard greens

I saw this place on tiktok and told my girls we had to go try it out. The food and drinks was great! The service was good as well, ask for Ashley 😉 I loved the ambiance and the only flaw was the parking but who cares. We had a blast! We will be going back for brunch 😁 …

If every dining experience was like Poor Calvin’s, the world would be a better place! Poor Calvin’s unique menu, decadent but intimate dining room, and creative cocktails make it the perfect date night spot. I can’t rave about the Duck and Shrimp Siam enough. It wasn’t even on my radar when first reading the menu, but the waitress highly recommended it and I went for it! WOW, was she on point — the duck was some of the best, juiciest, softest meat that I’ve ever had, and the shrimp complimented it perfectly. We also loved the Shaky Shrimp appetizer, NOM NOM NOM.
Poor Calvin’s is a must visit!

If you are around the Atlanta area, or even if you have to drive a fair distance, PLEASE GO HERE!
Amazing bartenders and waitstaff. The food was phenomenal. The serving sizes were large enough for my wife and I to share. The owner was there but we didn't have a chance to meet him. It's a must return to place.
This is an A+++ establishment.

So glad my spouse convinced me to wait for a table (on a Saturday no less). Chef Calvin was in the house tonight so the food was on point and high quality. I am glad I was able to try his version of Asian fusion. It was creative and well crafted.
Trey McNair
Poor Calvin's came highly recommended, and still exceeded my expectations! Great service and atmosphere. It would be a great spot to take a date. Most importantly, the food was incredible. Highlights were the lobster wonton and stir fry with fish (served in a hollowed out pineapple).
We ordered dessert, and even that blew us away. The Japanese cheesecake was fantastic.
Looking forward to returning next time I'm in Atlanta.

The best duck I’ve ever had! The lobster fried rice oof😋. Best place I’ve eaten in Atlanta. The suspension cake…amazing! Shrimp hush puppies special were a delight! Only thing I wasn’t crazy about were the deviled eggs. …

Our waiter Ashley was phenomenal! She listened, made solid recommendations, and had a huge personality. Service is definitely 5 stars at Poor Calvin's! The food was fresh and tasty. My curry was SOOOOOO good!!! I didn't like that I had to de-shell the seafood in my meal, but that curry was bussin! The fried chicken, kale, greens, and Mac n cheese wasn't bad. The greens had an almost pickled taste, and the macaroni had a non-traditional twist to it. Would I go back? Eh?! At $30-40 per plate, idk if it was worth it. For a new experience, ambiance, service, and a unique menu selection (their special was ostrich!), I would definitely recommend them. Tip: Arrive with your full party or you will not be seated. They ask you to stand to the side until they're with you. I didn't like how they wouldn't seat me even though my other party was waiting for their slow valet to park the car. Enjoy!

We came here to celebrate a birthday and the food was fabulous. Everything we ordered were flavorful and big portions too, which justified the price point. We were lucky to get the big table outside, but the giant fan made it a little uncomfortable as it was loud and strong (felt like sitting in a hurricane). Overall we were happy with food and services.
Issabelle215
One of the best dining experiences I have had. We had a very attentive server and all of the food was spectacular. The wontons are a must try! James sealed the deal on making our evening memorable. We couldn’t have chose a better restaurant to celebrate my dads 60th. Thank you for a remarkable dining experience.

Poor Calvins is an entire experience. The customer service from entry to table to exit is amazing. The food, cocktails, desserts and quality of service were all top tier. For appetizers, my friend and I shared the Seafood Spring Rolls and Salmon bites. Both were delicious & the sauces with them were good too. I had the fried Bronzini whole fish special w/fried lobster rice for dinner. The fish was seasoned and cooked to perfection. The rice was tasty and the food is plentiful. I had enough leftovers for 2 more servings the next day. I had both the Midnight Overture and Sangria as cocktails, both were delicious, the Sangria being my favorite. We shared the toasted pound cake for dessert. It was delicious! If you’re considering going. Stop considering and go!!!

After a few minutes the aromas will saturate your senses. Like a kid and cotton candy, I can't escape the incredible mix of savory meat and spice like a trip to Dune. Typical items like shrimp and lamb chops are raised to another realm while an animated staff checks on your level of satisfaction. My single spot at the bar might have been the best part witnessing high velocity mixology. No seriously, order whatever looks good, they know how to make a drink.
With 3k+ reviews, everyone wants to brag about eating here, and for good reason. Make a reservation, too bad the secret is out. Enjoy Poor Calvin's.

The service was 5 star for sure, our waiter was very nice and helpful. As soon as we set our empty water cups down they were refilled immediately. The food was good but I was a little disappointed with the lobster mac and cheese, which is why I only gave 4 stars. It was just ok to me. The greens could have had a little more seasoning, the chicken breast was very moist and you could taste the buttermilk. I also had the seafood spring rolls which were tasty.
Velmeca McCrea
We went today for Easter dinner and everything was stellar. TJ was our waiter once again and remembered us from a time prior. We started with the seafood spring rolls, shaky shrimp and beignet basket forgot those pictures. The main entrees we ordered in the pictures were the Australian Lamb Chops and added the lobster Mac and cheese, Shrimp cajun sausage and cheese grits with an added fried lobster tail and one of the specials Seafood grits. All the entrees were rich and flavorful per usual. It’s definitely a nice experience overall.
Only complaint today was the valet parking was not in place that was a challenge otherwise no issues with the food or service.
Trey Buckley
Absolutely phenomenal food, wait staff, and experience. The lobster fried rice is among the best meals I have ever had. The cocktails were heaven sent and don’t even get me started on the dessert(get it to go if no appetite left). Enok, our server, was the best (request his section)!! 10/10 experience!!

Nice experience I got the lamp chops with fette cheese it was great. I also got the fried green tomatoes typed with crab. They were alrite just a crunchy outer crust the tomatoes were very wet on the inside. The space is quite small parking is slim to none. Overall great experience and our wait staff was excellent.

This was the first time visiting this establishment. A business associate of mine recommended this resturant. It exceeded our expectations. We made reservations and were seated very promptly. The wait staff was exceptional. They were very knowledgeable on how each dish was prepared and offered excellent recommendations. The food was superb and was served in great size portions. The desert was also exceptional. Great eats, and great atmosphere.

Calvin definitely isn't poor with these prices😊but it was worth it. Our reservation was honored on time. The food was delicious. And our server was great. $400 for a family of 4 was a splurge for my sister's birthday, but I would absolutely do it again. We had the Lamb chops, fish & grits, cajun sausage with shrimp & grits, and a few appetizers were my main course. The dessert is phenomenal too. My Mom & 2 sisters ordered the Peach cobbler empinadas & I had the Carrot cake.

I decided to visit Poor Calvin’s on my birthday back in October. I had heard it was definitely a place you’ll want to try at least once in your life so, I did. Unfortunately, we didn’t book reservations in advance. So, when we arrived we were informed they were closing and would reopen in an hour. We obviously missed this on their website yet, Poor Calvin’s ensured us if we returned they would seat us without a reservation. We waited until they reopened and was first in line. As promised we were seated though it was at the bar as soon as you entered the restaurant by the restrooms we decided to make the best of the situation. Especially, when we failed to book a reservation or read. It was the BEST SEATS in the house! Our bartenders were GREAT! They aimed to please and definitely made me feel special on my BIRTHDAY. I LOVED MY FOOD (lobster fried rice) and my boyfriend enjoyed the fried chicken so MOIST! Yet, the drinks were EXCEPTIONAL. The whole process was an EXPERIENCE. I’m going back just to sit at the bar watch them make drinks and have a ball talking about anything. Thanks for making my day one to remember. Xoxo

The decor, music and vibe at Poor Calvin’s would have been fitting for a first date, but alas I was alone on this journey. Service was great. I got the origin story of the chef and how the restaurant came to be. No beers on draft, but the drink selection was very good. I had the Shake Shrimp and a salad to start. The shrimps were large and crispy, yet buttery at the same time. Delicious. I would pass on the salad next time, but I had to get my greens in. My entree was the crispy beef. It was good, but perhaps a bit too heavy as it was a late night. I would not hesitate to order it again if I was able to share the dish with the table.

My fiancé and I love this restaurant! We’ve gone at least once a year since when we first started dating, and the food here is amazing. Everything is we’ll seasoned, fresh, and plated beautifully. The customer service is impeccable as well. Our waiters are always so respectful and professional. We will mostly likely go every year!

My first visit here and loved it! One of the BEST meals I've had in a long time at a restaurant! Will definitely return!

We have never missed a visit to Poor Calvin’s every time we visit Atlanta! Literally the BEST restaurant in town! James goes above and beyond to make everyone feel welcome and special. Calvin’s dishes are beyond anything you could hope for! Incredible staff, simply the best! Can’t wait go again!!!

WE’RE BACK! With an evolving menu, you’ll always find something new a inventive at this Southern comfort Asian fusion restaurant. This is my second time and we brought our daughter and mil. The decor is lovely, lots of golden Buddhas and teakwood. Our daughter was very impressed with the bathroom. Anthony our waiter was great; friendly and attentive. He brought us fresh silverware and was very mindful of our stated food allergies.
Drinks: 5/5 raspberry tea and lavender lemonade so good! The tea was bursting with berries!
Appetizers: 5/5 the beignets with the goat cheese and fruit compote were absolutely delicious! The crab fries were like a marriage between crab Rangoon and Poutine, so good!
Entrees: 5/5 chicken and pandan waffles, seafood, and pecan french toast with chicken

POOR CALVIN'S, you CAN NOT be poor and eat here. We spent $200 for 2 people. We arrived without reservations and were seated immediately as long as we left by 730pm. That was fine with us. The waiters were attentive, helpful and knowledgeable of the food selections.
10/10 Lobster Fried Rice 🦞
9/10 Lobster Pad Thai- the Lobster was almost raw.
10/10 Crab Won Ton
10/10 Streamed Crab Dumplings
10/10 Ice Tea
5/10 Lobster MacNCheese
Overall, YES we would RETURN, this was the best restaurant in Atlanta that we had visited. The food was superb 👌🏾 😋. Everything made our taste buds excited and please.
Everything was Great.
Cons:
Parking could be challenging

Drop all your plans and go here NOW. You won't find service, food, or drinks like this anywhere else. The staff are beyond hospitable and the food will blow your mind with how good it is. Plus the bartenders know their craft and send out only the best drinks on menu and off. I'm coming back here every time I'm in Atlanta.

Poor Calvin where the taste is so different, even fried chicken was different. This restaurants in Atlanta five stars for me. Customer service was exquisite the cooks the chef was awesome everything was so delightful this is a must try in my book might hit your pockets a little bit but a must try please go online and review the menu. Reservations are needed Valet parking was great, the restroom was the only thing that wasn't clean.
This Me Really
Phenomenal service, drinks, and food. Servers were knowledgeable about every dish on the menu. Didn't make single recommendation. Did several. Makes me feel comfortable.
Reasonably priced for a special date. Simply fun.
There was nothing about Poor Calvin's we did not enjoy

When I pulled up I didnt expect this place to have fancy good food. Boy was I surprised. TJ was our server and was exceptional. He checked in on us timely and had great recommendations for drinks and food. The atmosphere was nice but very close quarters but we could still hear each other talk without yelling. THE FOOD...O M G. It was amazing. I had the lobster fried rice and my friend had the duck. Remarkable. I will be back. Another note, please be sure to make a reservation.

Absolutely amazing, one of my favorite spot in Atlanta. I’ve been multiple times dinner & brunch. Although, brunch is my favorite time to go. I honestly can go here at anytime. The food and atmosphere is really nice, good for a date night or a night with the girls either way you’ll enjoy yourself.

I made a reservation to have a quick dinner here before a show at the Fox. It was a Friday night and extremely busy inside but upon arrival we were seated within a few minutes. The hostess and waitress were both very nice and accommodating. I had the Chillean Seabass. It was presented beautifully. The sauce and veggies were very flavorful. The combinations of spices were unique but good. My palate went through an adjustment but it worked. The dessert was my favorite. I absolutely loved the red velvet cake. The mascarpone and strawberry center was divine. I enjoyed my meal and the experience overall. Definitely check it out for a food adventure.

My fiance and I visited for his bday. We loved the service and the food! Great personal ambiance too with seating. The lobster mac and cheese is amazing! Big enough to be an entree or sharing for two, but you won't want to share! 😋🤤

My home is about 40 minutes from this place and I found it because I was looking for restaurants at downtown Atlanta on Google maps, thank you for google map I get excellent information to decide to come, the owner is the chef , menu is full of attractive dishes,

Visiting Atlanta and heard this place is as popular. They have valet so no need to worry about parking. The place is very cute. We got smoked duck and lobster fried rice. I personally think the fried rice is overrated but the smoked duck was very delicious. The fried rice lobster was good but it's heavy so you get full very easily.
We also ordered the speciality hummus which was amazing.
The service was good. Would come back again.
Tiffany Barkley Easterling
Get to this place ASAP! Omg. We can't wait to go back. The lobster wonton, fried green tomatoes, frog legs and calamari are all amazing apps. We dined on the Grouper and Sea Bass for entrees. Perfection. Dessert was the Fiji Apple and Chocolate Cake were perfect final acts. Enoch was a WONDEFUL server. Really made the experience amazing.

Poor Calvin's is a specialty chef-run restaurant. Everything is made unique to the restaurant and the service is outstanding from the host, server and everyone. Everyone is very knowledgeable and proud of their menu items. You will have to book reservations in advance. Note that a mandarory 18% gratuity is charged with your meal. This is a great business choice as it holds ALL staff accountable to provide excellent service (which they sure did). We could tell the chef worked hard all day preparing the meals for the day. He has a European background and brings all the good things here. A dining experience to remember. Valet parking is also available.

One of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had in my life. A solid space With a wonderful group of people working that ended up more like family than people serving us food and drink, and an expansive menu of amaaaazing foods that just all worked together.
It’s rare to find this combination of things in one space but here, we found it and I couldn’t be more happier that we randomly dropped by

Justin was our server and his level of service matched the level of food. Had the duck and Tiger shrimp, the mussels, and by his suggestion the duck wonton appetizer special. Definitely my favorite restaurant in Atlanta close to downtown. Glad gratuity was included because he deserves nothing less than 20 percent and we even added extra because he was that good. Keep up the great work Poor Calvin’s!

I LOVE THIS PLACE! Food is always delicious. Drinks are amazing. Pretty pricey but so worth it. My fav is the fried chicken, curry greens and pasta !!

My girlfriend and I eat out quite often, but Poor Calvin’s really stood out as one of our best dining experiences. The service was the best we’ve had since the start of the pandemic. The food was perfectly prepared and brought out really quickly. We tried the following:
Lobster wontons 10/10 (red wine jelly is amazing)
Mussels 10/10
Shaky Shrimp 10/10
Deviled Eggs 10/10
Lobster Fried Rice 8/10
Lamb chops 100/10
All in all I didn’t have a single complaint. Our server, Linda, was knowledgeable and remembered everything while serving our large party.
Please go and have the lamb chops🤌🏽. And if you see us there every Tuesday….mind your business 😂😂😂

Best Dine in Valentine's Day Dinner to date! Food was great. The service was awesome. Will definitely be back!! 💯

This is my second time going and it was super magical the first time but this time something was lacking. We made a reservation and still had to wait (20 mins) but the host was super pleasant but that was a turn off. One of our appetizers were like warm and the other was steaming hot. The lychee martini was delicious and the curry dish was just ok. Next time I will get the seabass and we spent right under $200 for 2.

Went for a birthday…Great service and amazing food! To start we had the calamari, spring rolls, and deviled eggs. Chef Calvin was in house when we visited so we had the chef special (smothered pork chop with lobster) along with lobster rice, duck and shrimp, and the sea bass. It took a while to narrow down what we wanted to try and we were not disappointed. Everything taste great! I will definitely be back to try some other goods on the menu.

Poor Calvin's was a nice outdoor dining experience. The Calamari appetizer was prepared well and has deep fried pickles slices and yellow pepper slices. The seafood spring roll was presented well, my guests liked it, but there something too fishy in it for my taste. The fried chicken was dry, and had far too much batter. My other guest ordered lamp chops, she said usually the chops are tender and juicy, but this time they were dry and tough ordered med-well. She replaced it with the Lobster fried rice. I actually ordered the Lemongrass steamed mussels, I really enjoyed these, well prepared in a light coconut curry sauce, the Tom Yum soup, bore little resemblance to Thai Tom Yum (Talay) it did have a hint of the sweet/sour flavor, there was almost no spicieness. Now for the annoying part, the menu has good descriptions of the menu item, but when you make your order it appears the sever is obligated to give you the entire description like this is some posh restaurant. Overall, I feel like the prices are far too high for the quality of the food, it just feels like Calvin's is trying to be something they're not. At least the service was good, and the drinks were strong.

Took my wife there for our 3year anniversary, the food was on point. It’s been a long time since I have said that I like a restaurant, not only the food was perfect, the service was excellent!! Thank you for a great time, worth every penny.

This was not my first visit, but might be my last for a LONG while. Restaurant was EXTREMELY loud. It was hard to even hear the table conversation. Server wore a mask, and it was tough to hear what she was saying because the restaurant was so loud. Food taste was great. Arrived very quickly. The great service and great tasting food makes the decision difficult to remove this restaurant off my list. Parking lot holds maybe 8 cars, very small. Street parking is an option. Wish there was better parking. Wish the restaurant was larger too. But the LOUD atmosphere is why the rating is so low

My new favorite restaurant. I love EVERYTHING about this place from the friendliness of the staff, to the rhinestones on the cranes eyes in the women's bathroom. And the food....I wanted to taste everything on the menu. A must if you're in Atlanta.

Was in town from Chicago visiting a friend and decided to stop at poor Calvins, had a great experience! Drinks were great, lobster dishes were so good and they had a special dish with ostrich that was amazing. Will have to come back again next time I'm in town to try the other dishes, definitely not cheap, but it was 100% worth it, get the lobster fried rice!

We’ve been wanting to visit Poor Calvins for a while and finally got the chance to visit for dinner.
For an appetizer we ordered the Summer Rolls ($6) and the Spring Rolls ($13). They were both delicious and easily split between four people.
For drinks I had the Jasmine Manhattan ($14) and the Diablo ($12), both great but my favorite was the Manhattan.
For dinner I ordered the special, Panko crusted salmon with Lobster fried rice ($40). I also tried the crispy beef and that was also delicious.
You will not be disappointed. Make a reservation. Our waiter was knowledgeable and very helpful.

First let's discuss the sangria that's is made with fresh juice and is absolutely delicious 😋. Then there is the lobster fried rice with half a lobster 🦞 that is flavorful and very light in texture. We had the calamari that tasted like it just came out of the ocean. But I swear the porkchop tasted like your mother fried and seasoned it. It was so large that two people could take it on. It came with a crawfish tail sauce that was a taste of NOLA. I had the succulent lamb chops with tiny balls of goat cheese. But my favorites are the mussels
J M
Food was delicious and the drinks are well worth the price. Very creative menu definitely something for everyone!
Sir Lee
5 very enthusiastic stars for Zubar, server extraordinaire! He led a very engaging and fun journey for us. Thank you for the detailed descriptions of the menu items, the way he described the food made us want to order every single thing on the menu! My favorite was the pho drink which comes with the giant circle ice cube, always a winner in my book. The broth for the mussels was exquisite, I want that every day of my life. Thank you Zubar!

Hands down the best restaurant I have ever been to. From the moment you walk in the door, you feel like you are in a wonder land. James is amazing, he goes out out his way to make your time at Poor Calvin’s an experience.
Cute Couples’ Shit
Poor Calvin’s is rich in food and drinks. We had the buns and empanadas that were the appetizer special. Not sure when the special is over but get there soon and order both! We had the fried chicken and crispy beef. Both were full of flavor! The drinks were EVERYTHING! Our definition of a good cocktail is strong but tasty. These cocktails were GREAT! We had the suspension cake was very light but big enough to share. Service was outstanding and we will definitely be back.
Alexis Maurice (The Wine Up)
One if Atlanta’s secret gems. The FOOD was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The service was phenomenal. Perfect for date night. From appetizer to dessert, everything was TOP TIER! I definitely will be back again.
Chelsea Darouse
Usually get the seafood here (always a good choice) but wanted to try something different and ordered the lamb chops per recommendation from the bartender. They were exceedingly good, flavorful and tender and even stood up to being microwaved the next day for my leftovers lunch. I have never had a bad meal here and the service is excellent. The pound cake I had for dessert was also stellar, be warned it is a HUGE portion.
Colette Hughey
I would highly suggest making a reservation because it’s small in the inside and you could wait for awhile if you don’t. On this particular night I ordered the fried grouper which I enjoyed. I also enjoy the amount of food they give you.

Poor Calvin's is the best restaurant that I've been to in a while! The reservations were on point. The waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. The decor was very intimate and beautiful. All dishes are authentic. The food and drinks were AMAZING...

Calvin is definitely not poor! Omg this was the best experience I've had. They do accept reservations which I would highly recommend even though we did see some walk ins. Parking could be tricky. Some free street spots available if not I did see a parking lot nearby. The place is small but extremely well made up. It's a Asian fusion restaurant and the decor is adorable. Our waiter was amazing. Enoch (please forgive me if I misspelled it) was great. Very personable and relatable. Awesome at providing the history of how Calvin came to be and the menu. We started off with the calamari appetizer- delicious with some sweet Asian dipping sauce. It was my first time eating calamari and it was really good. Texture like alligator but nice crunch and the sauce set off the flavors. I got the raspberry sweet tea - freshly made and again delicious. Entree - I got the chicken breast over lobster mac and cheese and braised collard greens. My date got the lamb chops with asparagus. The presentation with everything was superb. The meal was delicious. The best part of the night was desert we got this red velvet cake with mascarpone middle with chocolate ganache like icing and drizzled with this Asian green caramel sauce and boba pearls. My date said it reminded him of childhood. It was AMAZING. Omg the flavors just explode and leave you captivated. We devoured half in minutes. I would definitely recommend this for a dinner date. Dress code seemed to be more than casual but I did see some casually dressed people there. The bathroom was unisex and reminded you of a yoga studio- dark lighting, nicely scented and zen like music playing.

My family went to celebrate our son's successful school year. We were seated in the back area but it was nice. Our server was very friendly and attentive. My drink was delicious, the Tom Yum cocktail with Thai spices. We also tried the Sangria. Dinner was delicious. We had the Lobster fried rice dish, Fried chicken, and Duck with Tiger shrimp. Overall all, it was a good meal and experience for a celebratory dinner.
Krista Mcewan
Welcome to Krista’s ATL hitlist! Poor Calvin’s is a southern cuisine and Asian fusion restaurant. It lived up to the hype. We had a 5 pm reservation and was seated right away. I loved the decor and table placement. (I hate sitting on top of the next couple or group at a restaurant.) That wasn’t the issue here. The ambience was romantic and well thought out in my opinion. The service was 5/5. The waitress knew everything about each menu item and what we should expect. Each item was fresh and came out quickly.
Food and Drinks
Drinks 4/5: Red Sangria and Dixie Derby. Both were great. My sangria was pretty yummy to say the least.
Mixed Green Salad 4/5: Refreshing, light, and tangy. The pickled vegetables and the bamboo shoots complimented the salad well.
Deviled eggs: 5/5: I loved the unique spin. The egg itself is flashed fried. It was topped with chunks of crab and caviar amongst other sauces and ingredients. The texture was great and all flavors were complimentary.
Fried Calamari 5/5: included fried pickles also. Hot crispy and fresh. No complaints
Fried southern chicken 4/5: we took this dish to go because we were pretty full. Overall we loved it and it warmed up well.
I highly recommend this restaurant. The food was great, the plating was excellent, and the portions were great. Excellent price point.
Again… welcome to my ATL hitlist!

Picture this: An Asian man cooking your granny’s favorite soul food dishes. DELIGHTFUL! I loved everything about this restaurant from the great service to the excellent food! Just good! The tip is included In the bill. You CAN NOT give what you want. Ask for Lola when you go. The BEST waitress ever!
When you go, I hope that you will make a reservation so you’re not standing outside like the rest of the folks that didn’t. And listen, don’t worry about ubering, valet is FREE! Yes y’all, free! Just tip them. Don’t be cheap. It’s hot as hell outside in the A and they’re working hard!

I don’t know why it took me forever to do this review but here it is. First things first, it may be called Poor Calvin’s but don’t come if you’re poor. I’m joking but this is on the higher end of casual dining. The drinks were great well mixed and potent. We were disappointed in the seafood appetizer, as there was more sweet potato than sweet pieces of seafood… My friend had the chef’s special which was a blackened salmon dish however the salmon was a little too charred and we asked for a replacement. I had the sea bass which was fantastic and surprisingly filling considering the lack of actual sides. The venue itself is a little trendy spot with Asian inspirations. It’s definitely cozy and can feel a little stuffy depending on the crowd. Overall I would definitely recommend a visit if you’re in Atlanta.

Delicious! The lobster fried rice and fried green tomatoes are so good here. It is well worth trying this place. Exceeded my expectations.
Megan Lawson
This was the best possible meal that my boyfriend and I could have asked for! We found Poor Calvin’s by chance while visiting Atlanta for our one year anniversary and made a reservation for the next night. We were seated the moment we walked in the door and our waitress, Ashley, was so friendly and really funny. She made the whole experience enjoyable and the food was out of this world. She had a lot of great suggestions and she talked about the food with passion and it made us want to try everything! We had a bottle of Champaign, an appetizer and a meal and the price was still reasonable for the quality. We are so thankful we chose this restaurant, it was a perfect night. If you are in town for a short period of time, make a reservation! This place is packed for good reason! Thanks again Ashley, you made our night unforgettable!
Ronnie
A friend and I ordered the calamari, seafood spring rolls, and lobster wontons for appetizers and they were tasty. Our favorite was the crispy calamari. For entrées we ordered the crispy beef with a lobster tail and the duck with tiger shrimp. My friend enjoyed her crispy beef but was disappointed that her lobster tail was slightly over fried. I thought the duck was ok but I couldn’t get over the non-crispy skin. The broccolini was very good and the jasmine rice was nicely cooked. It was also my birthday so our AMAZINGGGGG server TJ brought me out a nice slice of cake. The cake was awesome and the berry compote on the side was the best part. I loved hearing about Calvin’s background in Berlin and how much he’s evolved as a successful chef, and I looking forward to trying Poor Calvin’s again in the future.

Poor Calvin's is truly a fantastic restaurant.
The food is amazing, every dish manages to bring something unexpected while being amazingly balanced and delicious. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, so I encourage going out of your comfort zone and trying something new to you.
Cocktails are generally all fantastic and creative, but some of the cocktails definitely aren't for everyone.
Thankfully the waitstaff are all amazing and well informed about the menu and drinks, and are willing to answer any questions you might have about the food or drinks.
The desserts are fantastic as well, especially the pandan pound cake.
This restaurant was honestly an instant favorite of mine.

We didn't have a reservation on a Saturday night around 6:30pm. Waited about 10 minutes and were able to get seats at the bar. The bartenders were super nice and made great recommendations. The food and drinks were outstanding. I ordered the lamb and it was soooo good.. We had an amazing time

My wife and I decided to eat at poor Calvin’s tonight for our anniversary. It was amazing! From our dinner to our server Andre! The entire experience was a A1 from start to finish! Andre had GREAT recommendations and was super personable and funny! As far as our food… everything was delicious and the portions were huge! 10/10 would recommend!
Carl
Amazing asian fusion food. Awesome and unique - would recommend the tom yum soup! The portions are also extremely generous - so it is great for sharing. The suspension cake is also phenomenal; awesome mix between a red velvet cake and an Asian fruit cake. Can't say enough good things - can't wait to come back again!
Anitra Fitzhugh
Our server Silvia explained each menu item in a way that you can already taste the food. They are very cautious of any food allergies and patiently explained what's available on the menu that will not trigger any allergies. Atmosphere was great and intimate.

Blown-Away. This little hidden gem in downtown Atlanta has to be one of my top 3 restaurants of all time. My date and I had visited the Georgia Aquarium and were looking for a place close by for dinner. We were afraid we might be too under-dressed, but felt comfortable upon arriving even though this was spontaneous. The hosts were friendly and greeted us immediately. Our server (wish I remembered her name!!) was super friendly, and the experience in her craft showed as she talked long enough to suggest items, helped us with her (date) dietary restrictions of gluten, and made her presence known enough to make sure the table was clean, all
while allowing us the space to indulge in beautiful conversation with each other. I took her glowing recommendation of the Chilean Sea Bass, and it was exquisite. The perfect pairing of flavors with each and every bite along with the perfect texture. I have never in my life tasted a piece of seafood like that. Props to the chef and the entire staff. This will be recommend by me to any friends or family visiting Atlanta. I can’t wait to come back and eat here.

I heard many good things about this place before going and it definitely impressed me! The host Mia was lovely and so was our server Louise who was very knowledgeable on the menu. I had the vegan duck stir fry and it was super yummy! I also had the El Diablo which was like a ginger margarita and a Lychee Martini (pictured) which was sweet. I would definitely recommend and return!

This was a great find while in Atlanta for a conference! The staff was wonderful and very accommodating. The atmosphere was beautiful and the food was awesome. We had the lobster fried rice which was enough for two! #thecpmteam

It was a lovely experience... my boo and I was celebrating 4 years of love and she bought me to this amazing restaurant... the vibe was perfect the food was delicious and so were the drinks... WE'LL DEFINITELY BE BACK... LINDA WAS A GREAT WAITRESS...
Dawn Hayden
Our server was fantastic! He knew the menu dishes to include ingredients by heart; I was impressed😁 The food and cocktail presentation was impeccable. I enjoyed lobster mac & cheese, Siam fried grouper wok toss w/Jasmine rice and a Jasmine Manhattan... Oh! One of my dinner partners shared her fried wontons with caviar...they were divine as well! Poor Calvin's provided a great experience!
Taron Jordan
What an upscale restaurant that really delivers! The exterior is unassuming, but the food... WOW! These folks throw down! My wife chose this place for a date. I'm blown away. The service was great, but the food excelled much more! I ordered the Crab meat wantons first for the appetizer. The choice of spices was spectacular! Every bite was a mouth full of awesome! For the main dish I had the special, Lobster Tail with duck and mashed potatoes, Wowzers! The portions are quite large and you want that because this is extremely delicious! Then dessert was a caramel apple with chocolate and drizzle. All of it, all of it was very very tasty!

First off I am overjoyed to be able to leave a review. This spot was all the hype and more, just go and enjoy it. The atmosphere was amazing the the food was better than my pallets could have imagined. Ashley hooked us up with the specials on drinks and food. She was energetic and comforting at the same time, all the other staff were equally attentive. 18% GRATUITY IS included and I didn't asked but we travels 4hrs to the city so she asked about military and then included a discount, I was not aware they had. So bonus.
Toni Cardiel
This place is so good and so fun! I didn’t have a reservation, I just walked up and was able to get a seat at the bar (on a Monday night). The bar staff was BUSY! But if you’re patient and kind they will help you out.
I wanted the lobster fried rice cause that’s what they’re known for but every barman said to go with the lamb chops so I gave it a go (I was a little nervous having eaten my fair share of lamb abroad). I was not disappointed, the flavor pallet of this dish continued to unfold with every bite. It was so delicious!! On the plate was lamb chops in a curry sauce (who knew that was a good combo), potato, and asparagus. It was plenty filling.
I tried the Frankly My Dear drink which was good but a tad sweet. I also tried the gin & tonic because they make their own tonic. It also had a sweeter profile but still tasted very good. The bartender will make you anything that you like, such good people. A lot of things are made in house so talk to the staff and they’ll give you the inside scoop. No detail is missed, on my G&T they sprinkled gold flakes over the rosemary, loved it!!
I was fortunate enough to sit next to a woman celebrating her birthday and she shared the suspension cake with me, oh man, it was delicious!!!
If you’re not from the area, they do suggest to Uber over as the park across from the restaurant is sketch so best to be safe. I absolutely loved the vibe and hope to visit again on future visits to Atlanta. Thank you Poor Calvins staff!

This place was amazing!!
We made reservations and we were able to get right in. DELICIOUS FOOD 😋
Abigail Sullivan
If you are in Atlanta, Poor Calvin's should be on your list. The food is absolutely amazing and unique. The staff are friendly and beyond accomodating. The vibe is like no other. I highly recommend the Lychee Martini.
Mieley
Food is great, drinks are great, atmosphere is great! This is a cute little restaurant that is really a vibe. Whether it's date night, girls night out, or a solo trip, you will definitely have a great time. On top of how great everything else it, the customer service is amazing. I go quite frequently and have never had less than a 5 star experience.
Annie-Claude Toll
What a fabulous dinner experience! I loved the complex layers of flavors, the creativity that went into each dish, in presentation, but ultimately in the taste! We absolutely loved the sea bass dish with artichokes and sundried tomatoes! The special duck tacos were fabulous! The lavender Japanese whiskey Manhattan was refreshing. And the chocolate wine jelly coconut cake was decadent! We ended up sharing some with the table next to us, it was so big! Plan ahead, make reservations, and count the days to this very special culinary treat!
Guy onInternet
The food was excellent. It's a smaller venue so calling ahead and/or RSVP is a good idea.
We had a bit of everything and it was all very good. The portions are medium sized. But after ordering several appetizers, we definitely didn't have room for our entrees.
Staff is knowledgeable, friendly and provided good service. Their house drinks are amazing, but the drink menu appeared to be understandably limited. We wanted to edit a house drink and weren't able to.
Renny C.B.
Amazing food prepared by Calvin himself. At our table we had the deviled eggs, lobster wonton, lobster fried rice, grouper served on top of a pineapple (ask them to cook the green beans a bit longer), baby back ribs, and peach cobbler for dessert. Everything was delicious, except the deviled eggs, which were just okay. The dessert was enough for the 4 of us to share.
Not sure if reservations are required, but I would STRONGLY encourage it. We went during dinner on a Thursday because the weekends were booked. It was even crowded for a weekday.
To make the experience even better was our waitress, Lowla. She explained each meal and gave suggestions which ended up being great. If you get her, tell her Shaw-nah-nah-nah.
Kennay Johnson
The food is great and wait staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Our waitress and bartender were lovely. But the hostesses are rude. I was 15 minutes early for my reservation and there’s no space indoors to wait. It’s cold out so I went to the bar to order a drink and not block the entrance like most of the waiting customers and the hostess aggressively told me I couldn’t sit there because the bar was reserved, then proceeded to slam down a “reserved” sign that wasn’t previously there. She told me I could stand at the end of the bar (which blocks the doorway) or go outside. Again it’s not like I’m some random walk-in, I had a reservation and was already a paying customer (since I ordered a drink). This restaurant is high end food and so is the price-point… which I absolutely don’t mind paying the price point but I do expect top customer service especially from a hostess. It was also my birthday 🥴 so needless to say I didn’t walk out of that dinner feeling special. At least if people are going to have to wait outside I wish they had seating and heating lamps outside. Any other place that’s deemed “okay” to wait either blocks the door or kitchen. Our party of 4 ended up with a bill of over $500, which again is fine… but I expect great customer service from all the staff not just my waitress.

The bidness, be my witness! The fried wontons, fried chicken, lamb chops, Jasmine Manhattan cocktail and the SERVICE were all exceptional! Will mos def be returning w my familia next time!

Great spot to celebrate or just drinks and appetizers. Lively atmosphere. Wonderful entrees. Ate from the seafood section and bartender/waiter explained each dish before ordering. Chef created Asian fusion menu; background is Chinese and Japanese. Quality and temperature of food was excellent. Taste was superb; each dish was generously portioned. No room for dessert but leaves a reason to go back. Automatic 18% gratuity, but service was well worth it and some. All staff was courteous and upbeat.
Alexis Holmes
It was absolutely amazing and delicious!!! Our bartender Jordon & his barback Daunte were great! Very knowledgeable & sold us on everything from the drinks, appetizer, & entree's! The atmosphere was a little bit of heaven in the city! Our host was also very warm, engaging & funny! Great personality. We will definitely be back very soon & Soo worth the money & experience! We have Soo much more we wanna on our next visit i.e. the Australian lamb chops, lobster fried rice, mussels, ect.. the special I had tonight salmon over saffron pasta in n a bacon cream sauce was outstanding, Mike had the duck & tiger shrimp in Thai bacon bbq sauce & broccolini! Shout out to the chefs also & expediter. Presentation & taste was everything!also the deviled eggs with crab meat on arugula topped with caviar was scrumptious!
Nesha Z
Ate at the bar and had a drink and dinner. I’ve been here a few times but the food is consistently delicious. The service was excellent. They are very busy on the weekend, definitely need a reservation.
Alicia Johnson
We went when it was busy, so the service was slow, but the food was delicious. The chef added an Asian touch to some old favorites and we loved it!
Mateo Rodrigues
Amazing, I don't think I can squeeze enough adjectives in this review to express how perfect dinner was this evening. Let's start with James our host. We were warmly greeted and felt like we entered his home, not a person walking through that door felt like a customer, even felt like guests. Our server Anthony as well as the entire staff made sure our table was manicured throughout the evening(James noticed from the door my napkin fell and ran to retrieve a new one). All of the specialty cocktails were balanced and paired perfectly with dinner. The restaurant itself was clean including the bathrooms. The food.....oh boy, the food. Let's start with flavor not one dish lacked flavor or a story behind it. We even had chef Calvin personally come by and present a table side dish. I'll wrap this up finally, anyone reading this, stop by and eat here, it's a jewel. Make sure to make a reservation.
Latunda Penn
Food was amazing. Service was awesome. All the servers were extremely attentive. Andre the Bartender made me a mock tail while I waited for my party. Sugar Bear was my waiter and was very knowledgeable, personable, and attentive. I would definitely recommend. 10/10 oh Lamb chops and mussels was my absolute fave.
Helen Hsu
Love this place! Got awesome fruity drink, nice lobster fried rice, devil’s egg, and🦞 🦐 wonton! 💯Will come back!
Roxy Cerna
We enjoyed dinner outside it was amazing. I have never tasted something so delightful, something so delicious!!!
Robert Frink
The food was delicious and the service and atmosphere were excellent. The seating is a little close for my liking but it adds to the ambiance of the restaurant. Not cheap but you can tell the food is prepared and not just heated up. The lobster fried rice with the tempura lobster tail is 😋 chefs kiss‼️
Courtney Rose
Came here for dinner, went a little outside of our food comfort zones thanks to the recommendations of our server and we were completely blown away by the food. We got the Hong Kong ribs (super tender, fall off the bone, great flavor and vegetables cooked perfectly) and the duck and shrimp Siam (amazing flavor, very tender). The portions were generous, we were stuffed but were convinced to try dessert. We chose the red velvet suspension cake and it was the perfect finish to an amazing meal. Anthony was our server - he has a very kind demeanor and wonderful recommendations. Our dinner here was excellent, highly recommend! Only issue is limited parking.
Nina-Marie Scalera
Was in Atlanta for 1 night and had the chance to dine here. Everything was delicious and super spunky. From the unique cocktails to the flavors in our entrees we were very impressed! If you have the chance check them out!!
Ashley Payne
Today was my first time coming to Poor Calvin’s. I arrived a little after 12 noon for brunch and was able to get street parking right across the building. This place is a whole vibe, elegant and I love the decor. From the time I walked in the staff were very welcoming and polite. I sat at the bar, Andre and Dante’ were the bartenders and their customer service is top notch. The food and drinks were amazing! Then the playlist is definitely in my favorite genre - 70’s and up vibes. I’ll definitely be back.
Nick Facchina
Poor Calvin’s is definitely a unique dining experience. Service was wonderful! The Host at Poor Calvin’s was extremely welcoming and energetic! Our server was excellent, very attentive, but not intrusive.
My dinner companion actually left his coat behind (which after a couple of their well crafted cocktails, this can happen easily, I’m sure) and they called us right away… we went back the next night to pick get it and the host knew exactly who I was and why I was there.
We will definitely be back to Poor Calvin’s the next time we visit Atlanta!
Jimmy Lee
It's located in midtown and it hires a security guard (with a gun in his belly) to regulate parking (and others). From the appearance of the venue, it's hard to visualize that this place offers fine dining. The waiting line is usually long; we waited about an hour to be seated on that night. The place is not big but comes with a full bar with some in-house mixed drinks. The dishes are beautifully presented and taste good. The portion is kind of small with a $$$$.
Chris Bumgarner
This will be short and sweet- I think that Poor Calvin's is simply divine and a very lovely restaurant that has it all including one fine chef - Chef Calvin who does know what he is doing and loves doing it!! I will be back and it is on my list of "go to" restaurants! One nice touch that I also appreciated was the fact that he has a security guard that helps you park and watches your vehicle while dining. It is a thoughtful and good way to say we appreciate you and want to make it easier and better to come here and eat or relax at the bar and enjoy what he has to offer- beautiful ambiance and a chilled mood that really worked for me. Our waitress was the best too- extremely knowledgeable and friendly! She was the bomb!

From the door to the table and back out was great! Really cute spot with curtains up for social distancing. Griffin met us at the door. His energy is like no other! On top of being best dressed lol he was a delight! Joy our waitress knows that menu in and out. Great recommendations, she was busy yet very customer service friendly. Met the manager Carie, such a pleasant lady! I had one concern that she immediately cleared up! It's my birthday I'll post food pictures! Lobster fried rice was yummy! Drinks were refreshing and different from any where else I've been.

This place is awesome. The decor is super cool; it's a beautiful blend of Thai and Southern. The food itself though...some of the best I've ever had. I had the crispy beef and, as you'd expect, the flavors were fantastic but the textures in the dish were astounding. What a great experience to eat.
Valise Scott
We were able to be seated even w/o a reservation. Drinks were divine. Our 1st dining experience was impeccable and the service from our waiter Sean was over the top! Master Chef for the night was Calvin himself.. Oh and the food.....words can't express! We'll definitely return.
Barry Theodosi
Amazing! We had perfect food with perfect service. The staff really made our time there perfect. I had the special but also tasted the lamb chops......there are no words to describe the food taste. Go there and eat, smile, laugh, and joke. You will not be disappointed.
Kelli Waters
The food was delicious and the service was great. I forgot my waiter name but he was phenomenal & gracious. We really really loved him and the way he described the food on the menu made is want to buy everything!!! I really wish I remembered his name (if this helps I think he was of Asian decent). Great customer service is at a all-time low but our waiter really set the bar high for great service.
Kenisha Babwah
Crab fries and Fried calamari were great! You are given a good portion of crab on top of potato wedges and the calamari dipping sauce was amazing! The fried chicken entree (Free range airline breast, lobster macaroni & cheese, collard greens) was ok. The chicken was juicy and the greens were cooked, but the whole meal lacked flavor in my opinion. All in all, these 3 things were shared among 3 people and we were full and needed a to-go box. Also, the lavender lemonade was 👏🏾! I would go back, it is on the higher side $$$.

I did not expect to find such amazing Asian food in Atlanta. My only wish was that I had more room in my belly. PS the pound cake for dessert was pandan flavored and had boozy butter pecan ice cream on top. Oh my glob!!! <3
I've returned years later and left with the same feelings and emotions. Soooo good! I took my family here to celebrate and it was well worth it.
Tim Fokker
I was in Atlanta for 6 days and visited this place twice. The food, the cocktails and the atmosphere are amazing. James & Hendry were great people and really made it an extremely pleasent place! We tried almost all the starters on the menu and you can't go wrong with any of them. Same goes for the cocktails. The Tom Yum cocktail was our favorite though(pictured with the lemongrass steamed mussels). Will definitely return if I'm ever in Atlanta.
Shaqueena Moore
The food and service here are amazing. My only critique would be that it was a bit oily. I decided not to do dessert because most of the options were also going to have high oil content. The location is really convenient and it's not difficult to find parking. I would highly recommend!

Poor Calvins doesn’t owe me anything!!!!
I had such a delightful experience from the ambience of the restaurant, the customer service was A1, and the food was absolutely spectacular!!! everything tasted so fresh and so well flavored it is beyond my expectations! My sister and I came here for a birthday celebration we literally had the best seat in the house due to the decorations and the overall customer service is absolutely splendid. I cannot wait to come back and eat those lamb chops again !!! look how beautiful they are plate presentation is!!!
Steve W
One of my favorite restaurants in town. What could be better than Thai-Southern fusion? I have never had a bad meal here--the flavors are incredible, and I enjoy everything from the freshness of the seafood spring rolls to the savory crispy beef. Go for lunch for incredible deals on the outstanding food or arrive early for dinner and enjoy their unique cocktails at their impressive bar (Tom Yum cocktail anyone?) Whether celebrating a birthday or going on a date, Poor Calvins never fails to impress.
S Borgemenke
The service was excellent. Fine dining in a comfortable and casual setting. I had Lobster Fried Rice - it was wonderful. Calvin stopped by the table to say hello! I'll be back the next time I am in Atlanta. I heard that the lamb chops were delicious.
Christian Ardito
A Soul Food / Asian Fusion restaurant? Yes! One of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. The dishes are huge so make sure you have someone to share.
Khadija Johnson
My favorite restaurant in Atlanta. I love every single thing about this place. The menu is 🔥! It’s a Southern +Asian fusion and they get right seamlessly!!!! GO CALVIN!!! All the servers are awesome but Ashley is our favorite ( we come here a lot). The portions are phenomenal and shareable if you want to try a little of everything. And the drinks...they are spectacular. MAKE RESERVATIONS! There’s no particular dress code but the food makes you feel fancy.
Andrea Brown
I've been here several times and it never disappoints the food was good gotta try to lobster fried rice and lamb chops yummy! Service is GREAT and the drinks were top notch.
Chelsea Dixon
This is one of the best, if not the best dining experiences I have ever had. We were celebrating our first wedding anniversary, and it will definitely memorable. From the moment we entered, everything was amazing. The host James and our server Ashley were the absolute best. The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming. And the food - DELICIOUS!!!!!! We had the fried calamari and crab meat deviled eggs for our appetizers. For drinks, we had the Red Sangria. For dinner, my husband got the grouper and I got the special, which was a Cajun pasta with andouille sausage and crawfish topped with 4 half lobster tails. For dessert, we got the empanadas. Like I said, everything was amazing and worth every penny.
Mari Alexis
I’m telling you this got the be the best food in Atlanta PERIODT!! Every dish and drink is so unique and thoughtfully crafted - even when I’m skeptical everything always comes together so perfectly with the most beautiful presentation!! So much flavor and the best part is the GIANT PORTIONS!! So worth it for the not even super expensive price!! Fave meals so far are the fried grouper, lobster wontons, and any of their salmon specials when available!! Service is always fantastic as well! Made reservations here 3 times in one week because it was THAT GOOD! Wish I had discovered this place sooner!
Carla Drianna
My mom chose this restaurant to celebrate my birthday and I’m glad she did! Everything was amazing (food, drinks, and service was outstanding) I would definitely come back here
D JARRETT
Poor Calvin's had some of the best service we have had in a while. The staff was great. The food was very good. The seating is intimate. They make us of all of their space. We really enjoyed our visit and will return. Highly recommended!

Service was exquisite, food was delicious and the drinks were top notch. Its a cozy eatery a has quickly moved up the ladder as one of my new favorite spots.
Anne Urban
Absolutely one of the best meals I have ever had. The menu is so diverse. I was hesitant when I walked in for fear that the food would be too spicy but my meal was perfect. Grace was our server and she could not have been a better server.
Jasmine Royster
My absolute favorite restaurant in Atlanta. First the service is spectacular!! Second the quaintness of the restaurant gives you homey yet sexy vibes. And last Calvin puts his whole foot into this menu. The presentation and taste are unmatched!!! Well done.
John Rose
This is a true hidden gem. I got a tip from a colleague who happens to be a local here and I was amazed. We are on a conference and attend with colleagues on a Monday evening and the place was packed so do make a reservation. We had to wait around half an hour to get a table but the wait was worth it. Very authentic mix of Asian food with fresh ingredients and a very friendly staff. You really feel welcomed here. Oh and the bathroom has this ambiance effect where they use special Lightning and they even add meditation music to settle the mood lol
Queen Squared
James and Ashley were exceptional (service staff)! My meal was soooo delicious. I had the lobster fried rice. The rum punch was amazing. Honesty, I will be back! Great service and food! That’s hard to find in Atlanta .
Diamond Harris
celebrated my birthday here & may i say i loved it. food was great and my server was just as amazing ! very detailed with describing our meals & suggested some great choices on the menu. i will definitely be back
Catherine Robinson (Grace)
Great cocktails. Duck was fantastic. Pound cake for dessert was great. Ashley was our waitress and our service was lovely. My only concern is the noise level- it was a little high for us. Amazing food. Will visit again.

Great food served by less than great staff. We sat at the bar because the wait time was so long and it was too chilly to sit outside. And who seemed like the lead bar tender had difficulty identifying that his humor was uninvited, unneeded, and borderline disrespectful. The curly haired bar tender was awesome though. Luckily, we were slightly distracted from the rude guy by the couple next to us who also more than enjoyed their food.

One of the best meals I ever had. The cherry on top was that we met Calvin!!!
Scott Dunson
Visited this past Friday, so glad they accept reservations, was able to walk right in and get seated. Our server was AMAZING! Very engaged, was able to answer all of our questions. The restaurant was set up to follow social distancing guidelines and they were able to do it and make it feel like it was part of the regular decor instead of a afterthought (no large pieces of plastic everywhere). We had the calamari and frog legs for appetizers both were delicious. Their old-fashioned drink was fantastic as well. Both the Lobster Fried Rice and the Seafood Melange were fantastic. Definitely will return to try other dishes. Overall great experience. Would recommend.
Jassmin M
Lobster Mac was delicious. Also they have the best specially made raspberry tea I ever tasted. They lavender tea was amazing too. Server was great. Will definitely go back to try more food.

The food is beautiful and good. The lobster wonton didn't have much lobster but I've gotten used to wonton mixes being consistently mostly cream cheese with some flavoring. The calamari was excellent. The seafood melange was good and the lobster fried rice had excellent flavor. You won't go wrong here.

This is our must go to place when we come to Atlanta. We make reservations weeks out to ensure we can get in. The food combinations are fantastic. The staff work well as a team and make us feel welcome. Shout out to Enoch on our most recent visit, his suggestions, pairings, and humor made the evening perfect.
Shaniqua Porter
Husband took me here for bday dinner and it was amazing!!! Great atmosphere, short wait time (reservations made), and food was scrumptious and nicely plated 😋 We ordered Korean Beef deviled eggs🥚, Lobster 🦞 fried rice, and grilled Australian lamb chops!!! Nice presentation of drinks but not enuff liquor for us🥴 Staff and our server was friendly 👌🏽😁 Will definitely return again💯👍🏽😁
Janice McDonald
Where do you even start? The dishes? Unusual and full of flavor. The service? Impeccable. I can't even pick my favorite. The seafood spring rolls? Lemongrass mussels? Mussels Rockefeller? Lobster fried. We sentries every appetizer and several entrées and rolled out stuffed. I will be back!
Krystal Whyms
Food was DELICIOUS and PLENTIFUL. Even the appetizers could be eaten as a meal if you’d like. I DO wish they had regular house/Caesar salads on the menu. Sometimes you want a salad and app and don’t want to be too heavy on the fried foods…. The service was great by the way!
Jennifer Young
Our experience from beginning to end was perfect! We were greeted warmly by their staff and walked to our table seconds from our arrival. The decor was beautiful, elegant yet very homey. They have semi sheer curtains up diving the tables which gives it a private feel. Our waitress was amazing, she knew each dish and all their ingredients (we were impressed) and very attentive.
As our appetizer we ordered the lobster wontons... AMAZING! I’m still thinking about how great they were. My husband ordered the duck which came with a mixture of veggies in a refreshing sauce... if I could buy that sauce by the gallon I would. Truly one of the best dish we have ever had. I ordered the pad Thai, which was great as well the scallops were cooked to perfection and were huge! My husband ordered the Chai Long Island, the presentation on this drink was everything, and taste was on point!
This is a must visit location! We will return when in town!

Lol there was nothing Poor about Calvin I must say! So the name did fool me. I just past by and said let me try this place out. My dress wear was under causal so right there I was not ready for Calvin. As soon as I walked in they ask if I has a reservation. Oh my, I wanted to tell her let me go out side, call in and make one. Again I was not ready for Calvin.
Being a party for one I was sitted at the bar which was cool.
Unknownly the cocktails are hand made with love. Every cocktails I saw was crafted art. Head Bartender was cool calm and a true multi-tasker. All drinks made from his hands came from the loving art of the spirits that surround him.
His young assistant Dante is fast and a follow directions well.
I did ask his assistant several questions about different cocktails that were being completed. He was patient and answered them with ease.
COCKTAILS..... The red one was lovely. The Manhattan was amazing!
APPETIZER..... the Sea food spring rolls were a little dry for me, but tasty.
ENTREE....... The Seabase, all flavors were so well executed. Pleasantly surprised. I would have that again for sure.
NOTE: When you have no expectation your are in for a real surprise and I was surprised!
Communication is key AND they really do communicate. Harmony of the back and the front of the house. And they got that as well which I truly loved to witness. Hearing the communication warms my heart. Which also means that the own is taking care of the employees. Positive work atmosphere amazing work ethics will lead to phenomenal results. Which they GOT!
The servers around me watched me attentively which I also enjoyed.
My bill was $103 with 18% gratuity included which I don't mind. I would of giving 20% but there was not a place to add more tip. I paid by cash they were busy so I just paid what was given to me........
Enough said!
Enjoy Poor Calvin and be ready he is not poor, well not any more.
Blessings to all and forgive me for the long review.
Happy eating!!
Darryl Clark
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here and it was a fantastic experience. Everyone, from the host to our waitress, congratulated us and provided great service. That food and drinks were very good! The lobster fried rice was more than I expected. I wished that I had visited sooner. We definitely recommend for a great time and great food!

Poor Calvins is a great place to dine. From the greeting at the door to the decor and intimate lighting, it is sure one of my favorite places. The waiters take amazing care of you and have great knowledge and detail about each item on the menu. Their desserts are to die for!!!
Gloria Johnson
The curry seafood and grilled sea bass was exceptional. My husband had a huge smile on his face while enjoying his meal. 😉The service was pleasant and great. From the time we arrived until we walked out we were treated as if we had stock in the restaurant. Definitely will return!! …

The food was delicious! We were happy that our reservation was on time!

Delicious recommend the trout if available and just make sure to follow dress code!

The food is spectacular, service is excellent. I have been a dozen times and it's a great experience each time. This last time, it was very loud inside. If it's a nice evening, try sitting outside if you enjoy datenight conversation.

What a great find! It's a perfect date night location. The space is well decorated. The food is chef driven and nails everything from taste, freshness, ingredient variety, to presentation. The drinks are well crafted and delicious. Complete with professional and polite staff that is also fun, prompt, and I am definitely going back.
P.S. there is tip valet (tip only) or you can street park the next block.

$$$ The food was exactly as this restaurant described it, Asian-Southern Cuisine. Everything we ordered was good from the drinks, to the appetizers, to the main course. This place opened up on time, and our waistress was great.
Everyone who likes American Asian cuisine should go at least once.

One of my favorite restaurants. The food, drinks, service, and ambience are consistently awesome. Everything I've ever consumed has been amazing. Definitely a place to enjoy a wonderful meal.

After a bad experience at another restaurant nearby I called to see if there were seating available and they accommodated my party. From the time we walked in we were greated with staff that appreciated our business. The 2 hostesses at the door did a great job managing the crowd/reservations. And the food was impeccable! I'm sorry to say I've live here for a few years and this is my first time here, but it will definitely not be the last. They deserve 6 stars! TJ was our waiter and exceeded our expectations. He knew the menu without looking at it and could make great recommendations based on what we liked. This place shows that a restaurant is a team effort.
The only problem we had was parking but when you have a great product, having a parking problem shows that business is booming!

Delicious food in a small cramped restaurant. Very nice spot with cozy environment. Food was top notch and unique for the area. Be aware of the added 19% gratuity on all tabs. They invite you to order a drink at the standing side bar while waiting for your reservation table. Bartender didn’t make us aware of gratuity and in the busy rush (8 people behind us stuck in the entryway) my wife left $20 tip for an $88 total tab for two drinks. They got us there, but overall an ok experience. Waitress also asked for more tip after a $35 gratuity (cringey).
Michelle Freeman
We went to celebrate my sister and my brother n law birthday. It was a wonderful experience. The food, service & atmosphere was past 5 stars. I will return when I come back to GA.
Ashley M
The food was really good. They accommodated removing certain ingredients. The location is in a decent area. Not too fond of parking although they offer valet. We made an reservation so the wait was minimal. Our server was personable. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered suggestions. I have enjoyed the food each time I come here and will be back.
Ramanda Dace
Every dish here is a treat and the atmosphere is very pleasant.
Alex is awesome and will seat you and take care of you. I would suggest making reservations ahead :)
Linda was assigned to me , and she was so nice and knew the menu so well.
I liked the fried grouper dish, the wontons, the sangria(beverage),and the lobster fried rice (is a must).

On 1-10-2023 I visited Poor Calvins for the first time with 5 other people. We had a great time. JoJo was our server, he did a superb job. I was extremely impressed with his memory. There is no way I could have remembered all of those menu items. I definitely would be fired on the first day. I am looking forward to my next visit.
Our party of 6 had a variety of different foods and appetizers, all that to say we enjoyed everything!!!

Poor Calvins provided an outstanding experience from beginning to end. Atmosphere was great and Covid protocols were good. Cocktails were awesome and diverse. Lola was an awesome server with great energy and personality. The highlight dishes were the Basil Rolls, Vegan Curry, Baby Back Ribs, and Peach Empanada Desert. The Tom Yum cocktail was probably the best but the Mango Spice and Dixie Derby were excellent too. The Dumplings and Crispy Beef were nothing special. All in all an excellent experience.
Katie Wheeler (Aronat)
This is the first place I've been to that has Thai cuisine as good as what I've had in Thailand. Our server Linda had great recommendations. Every single dish and beverage was absolutely excellent. The must have dishes: Tom yum soup, lobster won tons and lobster fried rice. I wasn't expecting the lobster fried rice to be as stellar as it was. Apparently it has been featured on the food network and it was so so flavorful. I highly recommend!!! The Long Island Tiki comes with a separate flask type holder to refill your drink with. Also recommend that as a beverage. Great place for our 1 year anniversary :)
Joaquin “Bizzy” Byrd
My friend had the shrimp and grits and he loved it. My meal with the pineapple has an interesting taste to it. I believe my noodles were undercooked and I did not eat it. Besides that service is absolutely amazing. I would 100% come back with more friends and family.
Sade Johnson
It was my first time, and I must say I
Will be back. The service is phenomenal! Jordan(the bartender) is awesome, and James was very helpful when I came to my dairy allergy. James walked me through the menu so I would know exactly what I can eat. I have never received that type of hospitality anywhere. The food was definitely the icing on a cake! Thank you James and Jordan for everything!
Florian Schropp
Great Restaurant, Cocktails at the bar are amazing. Dishes perfect.
Alexander McCord
Drinks you would expect (or better) than a craft cocktail bar and incredible food. Service was some of the best I’ve had, Rodrick and the rest of the staff were awesome. Will definitely be coming back when I’m in ATL again.

I cannot say enough GOOD THINGS about this place. Do yourself a favor and just GO. Book your table in advance though because the place stays packed. Now, about the food... AMAZING. I enjoyed their Angus Beef Meatloaf with Brown Gravy - paired with two large Tiger Shrimp and purple mashed potatoes. It was “off the menu“ and superb. The Red Sangria was one of the most flavorful beverages that has ever passed through my lips. The place is quaint and nicely decorated. Perfect place for a date or if you just want to splurge on decadence for the night. Our waitress was very polite, attentive and knowledgeable. 5 STARS!
Peter
At Poor Calvin's they really know how to create an unforgettable dining experience. We were a party of 7, dining in on a Friday night. The service was phantastic, our waiter knew every detail of the menu by heart, he was super friendly, enthusiastic and entertaining. Then comes the food: Soo full of flavor and soo creative, great fresh ingredients, everything was done to the point. It was one memorable evening and I would come here again anytime. Great job!
Michael Morgan
Some of the best food I ever had in my life. Came here on Sunday around 1215. They had brunch and full dinner going. My partner ordered ordered a little bit of everything and nothing missed the mark. We were trying to find something to complain about because we were blown away. It starts with the service and our person, Anthony, was top notch. So knowledgeable about the options and will definitely get asked for each time we go back. We got 4 different appetizers and all were delectable. From the wontons, beignets, dumplings to the boa buns they were literally top notch. The lamb chops for an entree were the top 3 best lamp chop dish I ever had in my life. My partner got the chicken and bacon waffle and she about passed out from the delicious flavor. The fried chicken dinner is also NAACP approved. Iykyk. We tried 5 different bar drink options and each one had am ample amout of liquor and intense flavor that made you order another one. Then they sold us on desserts which we never get. We had to try it because everything else was chefs kiss. The peach cobbler was phenomenal. We will be back. We have no choice.
The parking is parking in atl, so get there early an be prepared to use a parking deck down the street but that is just part of city living.
Stephon Roberts
I just adored this place. It excited my palate to its core...lol. The Mac n cheese, fried green tomatoes, chicken and waffles. I was very pleased and full. Coming from Texas, I will return especially for the sangria.
Ron Racer (RonRacer)
We always have a great time at poor Calvins. The food is absolutely amazing. I get something different every time and every time im blown away. Service is constant and top notch. We wish it was cheaper so we could go more often

Poor Calvin's has never disappointed!!! Whenever I'm in the Atlanta area this is a must reserve. I've been here 3 times in last 1.5 years, this a favorite! Service has always been great and food on point!! Keep it up!
Leslie Brooks
The best dining experience. Drinks, appetizers, main course, and dessert... hands down the best culinary experience I've ever had. Will definitely be returning.

1st time i been here and didnt disappoint. I had the fried chicken with mac and cheese and collards. Wow.. Service was so fast i couldn't believe it! I mean in and out! I think that was the fastest service i ever had! We got our food and drinks within 10 or so minutes.... Lol... Will definitely come again. Only complaint was that most meals youre not able to substitute any sides.

Ok y’all….I’m reluctant to post this and let too many more people in on this. Their website says, “Atlanta’s best kept secret.” But, based on the number of folks eating here on a Monday night, I’d say the secret is out. And, for good reason. Our server, Ashley (sp?) was amazing, no cap! She would have made the experience an automatic 3 stars just by how she served and cared for us.
The food? Holy smokes! I’m not even going to take the time to describe the deviled eggs with Korean beef, lemon grass steamed muscles, and the grilled Australian lamb chops with goat cheese. All I’ll say is that they all were fabulous.
The combination of flavors were surprising but so well done. We looked at many of the plates around the restaurant and the entire menu was represented. People were ordering everything.
We can’t wait to visit again and go for the lobster fried rice. Looking forward to it! Well done!
Chandler T
Absolutely delicious! We just so happened to walk upon this place and it was so good. Linda was our waitress. She was so professional and kind. Definitely recommend!

This is American Asian style restaurant,, if you are Asian and looking for real food. Not recommended at all. My bf picked here for his birthday dinner in Nov. we were seated in a super narrow table at a corner, the pictures on Google looks better than the real ones. The food is overpriced and atmosphere is more like a pub style. Easily spend $200-$300 per meal here if you drink as well. But I don’t like American asian food at all. Not recommended to asian guests. Parking is limited, and you have to find a space and park on street when it’s full. Gratuity is pre-charged 19% in your bill. The waiter will tell you after you paid it.. but the service was good tho. Overall 3 stars.

The only reason I'm giving this place 3 stars is for the desserts and the waiter who was exceptionally patient with our table. I was seriously underwhelmed by the rest of my meal. I ordered Thai Curry Chicken with a side of fried green tomatoes. The fried green tomatoes were mushy on the bottom with oil, and the breading tasted like it was just soaked in oil; they didn't taste good at all. The Thai Curry Chicken had pineapple bits in it that were a weird (not tasty) surprise to find. The chicken had no taste, and actually tasted like they'd boiled it without any seasonings; it was like chewing through rubber. I ended up just eating the jasmine rice with the curry sauce and squash, and leaving everything else in the bowl. The lavender lemonade was tasty and tart, a very good combination. Our waiter was so patient with our table, answering questions about ingredients (we had several food allergies present), and constantly making sure we had what we needed. The desserts were HUGE and DELICIOUS. I had no idea the dessert would be so huge, it was large enough to share with 6 people. I recommend Poor Calvin's as a nice spot to have a dessert.

Hands down my favorite restaurant in Atlanta. The atmosphere is amazing and the food is even better. The customer service is the best I’ve received in the city and I’ve been several times! Highly recommended!
Hope Kassandra
THE FOOD IS AWESOME!! The service is great! Our server was able to explain menu items in detail and answer all of our questions. The lobster fried rice was very good! Dessert was heaven! LOVE the overall atmosphere and definitely recommend!

Wife and I were in Atlanta for the night before our flight was to leave out the next morning to New York. Friends sent address a d when I say you will love this place... YOU WILL LOVE THIS PLACE !!! from the staff to the food they will definitely make you feel vip.
ashleigh woodley
Oh my goodness! How have I known about this place for so long, but never tried this place?!?! The atmosphere, the staff, the food & drinks were ALL amazing!
I would suggest making a reservation to avoid the long line. They offer valet, so don't worry about fighting for parking.
Onto the more important things: the restaurant was very clean and inviting. It was a busy Saturday night but all the staff were very pleasant!
Our waiter, Andre, was very well versed! His customer service and recommendations were top notch!!
I ordered the red sangria & my dinner was the infamous Lobster Fried Rice! OH. MY. GOD. was all I could say about that food!!
Fried rice with chunks of lobster meat and a large fried lobster on top! It was SOOO good! If you haven't tried this spot yet, YOU'RE MISSING OUT!!!
Cody
Had 1 bad experience , but they were extremely rapid and over corrected more than I could of hoped for. I give huge praise to the chef and the staff, top notch service and food. The ability to plate amazing artscapes with the ingredients is the cherry on top of the well prepared and managed flavors of each dish. Definitely a must go for any foodies in the area who also want to support the local suppliers.
Vidal Sanabria
The dessert and atmosphere at Poor Calvin's was great but the food missed the mark for me. Sweet collard greens should never be a thing. The chicken was okay but became soggy due to sitting on a bed of macaroni and cheese.
We did like that all the staff wore mask and temperatures of every patron was taken before allowing service.
Ginory Japson
This is a must visit if you come to Atlanta. Inside and outside dining might be a small wait so worth it. From the wonderful host who made sure to keep everyone informed of what was going on with their table he was fabulous. To my server who could answer every question about the menu and give you tid bits on what to visit while your there. We did 3 apps and 1 dinner between the 3 of us and even got a complimentary dessert to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We will be back for another great experience. Kudos to your staff both foh and boh. You have a guest that will recommend you always.
Chera Bernard
If you have yet to visit Poor Calvins, you are in store for an amazing treat. Below are just a (few) pictures I have captured during my many visits.
The service (from the friendly host/esses) to the engaging waiter/tresses to the best bartenders who really excel at their craft - makes this place a whole night of fun! The food is so exquisitely visual, with a touch of a flower here or a beautiful vision - but the flavors that Chef Calvin infuses is a craft. The mussels are one of my go-tos, with the leftover broth that (I admit), I went total asian and sipped that bowl broth to the last drop! I then would recommend the Tom Yum soup- perfect to split or just for one - it is yum-yum with the beautiful prawns and octopus! I’d also recommend the deviled eggs, the frog legs, the dumplings OR ask the bartender or waiter/tress on the specials. Calvin usually puts something together off menu that showcases his talent!!
Main entrees: everything. From crispy beef to the seafood melange to the pineapple rice to the curries to the lamb... you cannot go wrong.
You must save room for dessert. They are beautiful, shareable - and even if you have no room, get those candied apple slices!!
Drinks: what can i say!? The number one is the long island tiki (candied ginger syrup infused with the long island liquors - gives you ~2.5 glasses full. The expresso martini is by far underrated but OVER THE TOP AMAZING. Ask for Hendry or Jordan (the nicest and talented mixologists, as well as so much fun!) and they will treat you right!! My man loves their version of the old fashion.
Overall, great date spot, great spot for (4) max, inside/outside - I prefer the bar. If you meet James, Griffin, or Lola - say hi for them for me! They are the best - and who knows, maybe you will catch a glimpse of Chef Calvin every so often! 😊 enjoy!

Unfortunately this did not live up to the hype. We ordered takeout and got the fuji apple, fried chicken with lobster mac and cheese and miso collards, and the frog legs. The frog legs were best. They were juicy and had a delicious sauce with it but the breading fell off and the order only came with 2 frog legs. The entree was missing the collard greens but luckily we close by so they rectified that quickly. The lobster mac was the biggest letdown. First it only had claw meat in it so the texture wasnt as anticipated, it was also strangely spiced. Lobster doesn't need that heavy handed treatment. Smh the disrespect. The apples.....omgsh they weren't sweet and they used semi sweet chocolate so it certainly did not hit the spot. I won't return.

Our server Lowla was outstanding! The food is also AMAZING but having Lowla explain the menu and share her vibrant personality with us was truly an excellent experience. Thank you Lowla!

Here 4 times over last 2 yrs. Consistently great food. Perfect combination of east and west taste. Duck, lamb chop, deviled egg (appetizer), two types of Thai curry with various seafood in it (don’t remember the names), velvet cake, chocolate/tiramisu cake — all very very delicious. You would be “full” after a meal, unlike many other expensive restaurants where you eat a lot of plates and still hungry afterwards. Don’t think they have a strict dress code either which is a plus. On the pricey side (~$35-40 for main dishes, $15-$20 for appetizers) but ok for an occasional splurge. Parking: we hate valet parking in general, so if its own parking lot is full, we’d just park at Publix down the street and then walk up (note the street it’s on is a one way street). Only complain is it can get very loud given its not a big restaurant and some patrons are you know, loud… (we did a Sunday lunch at 1pm) but there’s nothing you can do about it. We used to go for weekday lunch which was much more pleasant.

Don't get me wrong, the food here is amazing. But the price is just too high. I was fooled by the two dollar sign price on Google and I did not look at the menu before I went. Just be prepared to spend a lot. Each entree is at least $26 with the majority being $30-40. An appetizer will be $10-15. Expect to pay at least $70 for two people and more if you want anything beside an entree!
I recommend the Pad Thai Tiger Shrimp and Scallops. It comes in a scooped out half pineapple and it is incredible! The crispy beef is also delicious. Nicely seasoned and crispy steak with a variety of vegetables.

Presentation is awesome! Food and drinks were delicious 😋

Food, drinks and service was on point!!! My server Ashley was amazing! You could tell she loves what she does. I would definitely return and ask for her.

Great service from entrance to exit. Order the Long Island Tiki and it comes inside a neat decanter. Appetizers were great, main course superb. I ordered the lamb chops and added goat cheese and red wine lavender jelly. Very good! Also had the White Cake dessert: tall & huge slice of cake. Sit in Sylvia's section and enjoy the great hospitality.

I don't know why I haven't been a few times already.
I dropped in on a Sunday afternoon (Self Care Sunday for me) and I sat at the bar.
Service was phenom. Food was incred.
I had the lobster wontons that'll make you slap yo Mama. Ok, then had the duck which is smoked and honestly after that first bite, I was questioning life. I don't ever want duck again if it isn't SMOKED! OMG
Neka Nyamsi
I orderee the lobster fried rice...and lobster wontons...lets just say i have a new favorite place to dine. The waitress was very informative of the menu and the special. She was very nice

From the moment you walk in the experience begins. There's a feeling of instant comfort and friendliness that takes over. Each and every server is everyone's server if you need something. They truly make it all about you. Each cocktail is presented with flair. Each dish is a main attraction. There is attention to detail every step of the way. I am in awe over the experience we had. It was truly unbelievable. I want to thank the chefs, servers, bartenders, valet, EVERYONE that played a part in making our time memorable. Special shout out to JENNY! That girl knows her stuff forward and back. She knew every detail of every item on the menu and was genuinely kind. Amazing!!! The drinks, the food, the atmosphere, all incredible. I'm not even gonna talk about dessert. Yes I am. We had the pumpkin spice cake, peach cobbler empanadas and the red velvet cake. No other red velvet cake will ever be good enough. Poor Calvin's is now my absolute favorite restaurant in Atlanta. Thank you all.
House of GlamTV
The location and atmosphere was so nice. The hostess were very warm and welcoming. Great energy. Our server was very knowledgeable about the dishes and was very nice. Did not hover but paid great attention. The food was delicious. Full of flavor and great portion sizes. The lobster fried rice was everything and more. The drinks are on point also. I will definitely return to this place again.
Belinda Urquhart
There was a wait but it was definitely worth it! The food was amazing as was the service. I will absolutely be returning the next time I'm in town. James is a gem!
Aaliyah Johnson
Everything was so good. I had the lobster fried rice and the lobster macaroni and cheese. It was rich in flavor and fresh. I will definitely be back.
Alexis (Lex)
Everything was amazing at this place and this is my second time here!!!! I love this place! It's a real hidden gem. Reservations are a must if you want to come here and enjoy a peaceful meal without being rushed. I know I've seen them rush walk-ins to be able to honor the reservations that were made.
The drinks are amazing and all freshly made. Carefull, anything with ginger in it is extremely spicy but very tasty.
While somewhat pricey, this place is worth every penny! Great servers that know their menu and are patient. I've never been rushed through my meal at this place, even though seating is very limited.
Great date spot!!! Don't forget, MAKE A RESERVATION!!!!
Jami Boone
Thai Fusion - Great understated vibe that I love! Staff was AMAZING!! (Alex got us in last minute - reservations required right now with COVID - and Jenny was a knowledgeable, friendly and attentive server!!) Food was absolutely incredible! Entrées are large enough for two people to share. Will definitely return when I'm in Atlanta again!
Tanisha Wimbley
This place had the most exquisite set up!! Loved the Lychee martini. For the appetizer I had the Shaky Shrimp which came with a delicious Cajun aioli sauce. For my entree I had chef's special salad for the day. I'm not sure what the name of it was but it had fried calamari, oysters, cantaloupe, peppers and mixed greens. I was such an AH-MAZ-ING combination of flavors!!! It was my birthday dinner so they brought out a complimentary dessert as well. I will DEFINITELY go there again!!!
Sapphire
This was our first time and we order various menu items and were pleased with everything. From the front door to seating, every staff that you encounter greeted us coming and going. Our server was great, can't remember her name but she wears or wore red trimed glasses. She was very knowledgeable of the menu and specials and suggested great menu items from appetizers to desserts. She was attentive and checked on us often and had a warm disposition. Everything she suggested, we tried and loved it all. What we ordered: Appitizers: Fried calamari ✔️mango salad w/tiger shrimp. Entrees: ✔️steak, tiger shrimp w/potatoes on a hot skillet✔️ lobster fried rice ✔️ fried chicken with lobster mac & cheese and collard greens. ✔️ the collard greens could have been cooked a little more, but that's just my preference BAR: Giner beer mixed drink ❌️ Strawberry Farm x3 ✔️ some fruity drink with 4 different rums served in a tiki glass x4✔️ Dessert: Toasted Pound cake was by far the BEST✔️. parking was a little challenging due to the small sized parking lot and the restaurant was smaller than expected but that's not a deal breaker. We loved it and will be back.
Destiny B
Great service! Came for my birthday weekend and was even gifted free ice cream.
Love Louise (our server) and she was very informative and nice. Young man and the front was also welcoming and nice
Very good portions, yes you may a little higher ticket but the portions match.
Got the fried chicken and husband got the grouper.
Definitely worth the price.
Jikku Alex
Went there for our date night. A very lively place. Delicious food. Tried fried chicken lobster mac n cheese and crispy beef. Great dumplings. Red velvet cake was huge and delicious. The place is perfect for a date night or any celebrations. The place was beautiful.
Tatiana P.
This place is just amazing! Great/unique food and service. Lobster special was amazing but I think Red Velvet cake is to die for and is a perfect size to share. I'm definitely coming back to try more of their amazing dishes!
Allen Spruill
Always delicious...been going here for years and everytime I've come, I've sat somewhere different but the food has always been a BANGER!! I try to switch it each time and I'm never disappointed. The drinks are just as tasty. I love this place.
Breayn Landers
Everything about this restaurant is great....the atmosphere, food, drinks, and customer service!! Only issue we had when we went was we had to keep swatting flies away from our food, which is annoying! Try to keep the door closed, last thing ppl want to do is fight with bugs when trying to eat.
Steph
I never fell in love with food until I went to Poor Calvin's. I'm so serious. Hands down the BESTEST Asian Fusion I have ever had. THE VIBE for real. My tongue was literally trying to help my teeth chew. The drinks are amazing. I had the Sangria. The best sangria I ever had. You have to plan a trip to Atlanta so you can go. I'm not even exaggerating. Forget sight seeing, go eat at Poor Calvin's! You will want to make a reservation well in advance. Dont try to eat these pics (Fried Chicken on lobster Mac n Cheese and Collard Greens, Deviled Eggs, Crab Rangoon. Sangria). Stop biting your phone my friend.
Alisha Wyche
Can't say enough about this place. Love the intricate details and unique fusions from drinks to dessert. Service is always top notch. Quaint spot for a one of a kind meal. Took my hubby the last time. He's a lucky eater but he loved it. That's a winner!
Jessica W
Intimate restaurant with an awesome selection of options. I loved the lamb chops & peach cobbler. Our waitress was very attentive and knowledgeable.
Shantée Rickerby
Food, drinks, and desserts were delicious! I had the fried chicken with lobster mac n cheese and collard greens. Yummmm!!! The sangria was nice, but the pound cake dessert with piña colada ice cream was EVERYTHING!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 The staff was friendly and courteous as well. This was my second visit and I was not disappointed. Will most definitely return.

Looking at the menu prices of this place online, I thought it would be a fancy restaurant with small, expensive portions but it's so much better than that. Poor Calvin's serves comfort food with creative twists - like their deviled eggs being tempura fried and topped with Korean BBQ marinated Kobe beef and caviar. It's also a very casual, cozy and eclectic environment. The portions were big and it all feels really worth the money, especially with the quality ingredients (best, most enormous, most pillowy scallops ever). Come here for some inventive flavors you may not have had before. The cocktails are good too
Savannah Sylvester
I met with a new friend here and everything was AMAZING! Like I have 000 notes for Poor Calvin's!... If I had to find fault it would be that I really really really want one of the Long Island Tiki decanters (pictured) and the waitress, Ashley 😍 absolutely loved her!, said they wouldn't even tell the staff where they got em 😢 so now I'm on the hunt!
The food, drinks, service were great. Especially the waitress I mentioned, Ashley, from the time she greeted us to the time we left she was the best! Professional, knowledge but very personable.
John Brinson
I found Poor Calvin's to be a great place to eat. We were seated promptly for a late lunch. For our appetizer we had the Calamari. I had the Pineapple Shrimp Stir-fry. My wife had the Fried Lobster Stir-fry. I loved my entree. For dessert you will lose your mind! They had Red Velvet Cake, Candied Apple and Coconut Cake! We don't go out often to eat but when you do I recommend this place! Lastly, we had drinks where you can taste the alcohol in your drink! Loved my drinks too.
Jessica Gooden
Excellent food and service as always! The drinks and menu options were delicious. The tables are socially distanced and we felt comfortable taking our masks off when we reached our table to eat our dinner
DEE ASHLEY
Went in with my family today(Sunday) and everything was EXCELLENT! From the hosts to the wait staff. The food was sooooooo good and fresh.
Sean Bryan
While in town last month for a conference we asked the gentleman at the hotel where we should eat in Atlanta that was authentic. He recommended this joint. This was amazing, worth every penny. The portions of food are massive. The menu has so many great options. The taste was on point and might be the best meal I have had in a long long time. I ordered the fried chicken, greens, and Mac and cheese. For desert the four of us shared a slice of cake, the slice of cake is literally the size of a cake. If I’m ever in Atlanta again I will go here, and recommend that anyone whose in the area make sure to go check it out.
Shun Williams
When the waiter has to explain why your food is still alive when you ordered it dead😳 it's all about presentation and it was beautiful. I ordered the duck and shrimp. The topping gives an illusion of butterfly wings fluttering. @poorcalvins thanks for always making my dining experience top tier. My waitress Louise and Ariel (like the mermaid) made sure every need was taken care of. They made me feel like it was my bday and it was a regular Monday. #AintNothingRegularAboutMyDays

Another birthday in the books and Poor Calvin's did not disappoint. The Duck&Shrimp was perfect. The drinks and dessert were even amazing.
Michael Sierra-Arévalo
A wonderful dining experience. The deviled eggs and frog legs were great starters, and the scallop curry was over the top delicious. Dark and stormy and their bourbon cocktails were on point, as was the service.
Dave Webb
This place is awesome. It also is very popular so get you reservations in early. I had the special, fried lobster and meatloaf.
Miguel Littlejohn
Even as a walk in (party of two) with no reservation on a busy Saturday night, got in with a minor wait sat at the bar. Sangria was litt but the kicker was the Lamb chops 👌🏾. Definitely worth it. …
JP Mathis
Exceptional service! Our 5yr anniversary lunch was graced by a knowledgeable waiter and amazing presentation of food. We can't wait to bring our friends back!
P.S. the Crabmeat Grilled Cheese was phenomenal!👌👀 …
Ryan B
The setting was fantastic on a Friday night (make reservations).. We ordered the lobster wonton and salmon fritters for appetizers and they were absolutely amazing.. Spicy but amazing. Our entree consisted of 2lbs of tempura lobster(more than enough to accommodate two people) on top of a bed of lobster fried rice and a variety of veggies... SUPERB!!! Lastly, the specialty cocktails were some of the strongest and tastiest that I've had in awhile... This place is a gem and I highly recommend trying it.
Whitney Griffn
Delicious!! Every single thing I had was soo good. From the appetizer, to my main dish and desert. Oh and the drinks were unique but also delicious. Apparently everyone knows how good this place is because if you don't make a reservation, your wait will be long
Himadri
The place had its charm with the decor and a friendly chatty host. The food was good. We had seafood Curry, fried calamari and seafood roll. Seafood roll was great!
I got lychee martini. It was too sweet for my taste.
Keki B
Poor Calvin's is one of the best spots in Atlanta!! Food is exquisite, ambiance is eclectic, service is outstanding and the memories you make are priceless! Me and my parents went here to celebrate family and love and our server Linda was delightful and full of energy! An incredible experience and I can't wait to go back again.......and again........and again.....🤪😁😊
Christie B
Easily one of the most enjoyable dining experiences we have had. The unique, creative dishes were presented with obvious pride. We savored every bite. Expect a wait, make reservations. The attire was blended... Everything from jeans to runway wear. The staff is incredibly warm and friendly, seem genuinely happy to be there and glad to serve their guests.

The security guard, MR. RICHARDSON, is very rude, and seems unstable to have the career that he does. I am not from the city Atlanta and I do not visit often, because it is just so very confusing to drive in Atlanta. When I first arrived for my reservations I accidentally turned on a one way street the opposite direction and didn’t realize I did until I saw on coming traffic coming my direction. I Thought very quickly and drove into the first parking lot I saw and it was poor Calvin’s. Right when I pulled into a parking spot I was still kind of anxious about what just happen, not Even 10 second later I see a grown man charging at my car. He immediately yelled at me and spoke very aggressive the entire time he spoke to me. Mind you I didn’t even know exactly who he was bc the store had just opened so he had none of his security uniform on. Before I could even get one word out, he assumed I did that on purpose and threatened to kick me out if I was to do that again and then told me to park better between the lines( still very irate), it hadn’t even been 10 seconds like I said and my car was still on and in drive , I was gonna straighten my car up. I get that that was very dangerous and it’s okay to professionally come to me and make sure I was aware that what I just did was illegal, but he came at me like I did that on purpose. I’m an not trying to put me nor any one else’s life at risk over some food lol trust me. Even when I told him that wasn’t intentional, he still did not change his tone. As I was Trying to explain my self he cut me off with have a good day and park in between the lines! And walked off. I was sooo uncomfortable I didn’t even want to eat at poor Calvin anymore but I drove over a hour to get there so I went in and everything after the unstable security guard issue was a 5 star experience, food was so very tasty and our waiter was top notch.
Crystal Banks
Excellent service. Kind staff. Clean! Clean! Clean! Staff come by regularly to clean your table and check on you. Our server Zubear (spelled the way it sounded. Probably not correct) was so sweet and knowledgeable about the menu and great suggestions. Just adorable. FOOD WAS EXCELLENT! I don't like fried green tomatoes but the way they do it is delish. I don't like Kale, BEST KALE IVE EVER HAD!!!!! The food is excellent!!
Tillmann Lenz
Fabulous dining experience, delicious dishes, lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. The food was amazing, the staff very helpful and it was overall a real find in Atlanta.
Jeanne Maynard
Poor Calvin's is always on point. Service is phenomenal and food and drinks are best you can get in this city for flavor, presentation and value. Parking is horrendous.
Vinita Ramsay
Unassuming location. Valet parking available. During our dinner visit, there was a very noisy birthday celebration at the bar. Unfortunately, nothing to separate the bar from the dining area. Food might seem pricey, but it's well prepared and portions are generous. Started with the stuffed goat cheese appetizer. Tasty but didn't taste strongly of goat cheese. More like a tasty croquette. We appreciated the fact that entrees came with vegetables and one did not have to order those separately. Loved the lobster fried rice which came with a side of kale. The rice tasted like bibimbap. The three lamb chops were tender and came with mashed potatoes and a cauliflower type vegetable. Ordered the red velvet cake with marscapone and strawberries, glazed with chocolate ganache. Big enough to feed four!! Didn't enjoy the noise factor, but loved the food!!
Tara Curtis (Your Local Realtor)
From the moment we walked our experience was phenomenal!! James met us at the door & was an absolute delight, so interested in our visit, engaging and knowledgeable. Then the bartender, even though we weren’t ordering drinks was super friendly, busy and all. Then our server Cody.....as former bartenders, my husband and I each spent over a decade in restaurants & he was probably the best we’ve ever had. We ordered goat cheese balls, deviled eggs appetizers, braised short ribs & Thai curry meals and then had the kahlua cheesecake. Everything was fantastic from beginning to end. We’ve found our spot for our trips to the ATL a couple of times a year. We will definitely be back!!!
Stewart Ramsay
Food is great, unique wonderful flavors. Generous portions. Service is very good. Would have been five stars except for the noise. If it is crowded and other patrons are loud, it is difficult to hear people at your table. Loved everything else about this place.
Vi Donna Le
5 stars for the food and service and vibe but 3 stars for how hot the inside is during the summer months. We were uncomfortable and sweating recently while eating which made the experience not as enjoyable. BUT the food here is creatively delicious! This is our 4th time here and we got the crab wontons, deviled eggs, crispy beef, and pineapple vegetable fried rice. We shared that between the 4 of us and it was perfect. We got the caramel apple as dessert which was great but none of use enjoyed the green caramel they drizzle on all the desserts. We found it too sweet.
Shadow
Personally do not care much for most Thai food. With that said. This Thai fusion restaurant was actually pretty good. The Lobster Mac and Cheese is amongst the best Mac and Cheese dishes I have had (yes not very Thai...I know... it's a fusion restaurant. Oh and there wasn't a whole lot of lobster, but I was fine with it). Also for appetizer was Deviled Eggs which consisted of a half fried egg topped with small cuts off beef, mango, and caviar. I did not care much for this dish.
For an entrée, I had the Duck Dynasty. It had very tender and juicy cuts of duck with balsamic reduction and another sauce. There were also mashed potatoes (unseasoned unfortunately), 2 well cooked shrimp, and a vegetable mix.
The staff is both friendly, helpful, and not overwhelming.
There are a few other dishes on the menu that looked good. For example the Lobster Fried Rice, Lobster Fried Wontons, and Lamb Rack sounded delicious.
I would recommend this restaurant and would highly recommend the Lobster Mac and Cheese (if you are into Mac and Cheese that is).
Nicole Brown
We had no reservations for 3 and they were able to accommodate us. The service was awesome! Our waitress Ashley was great! The special of the day thw bento box was a great suggestion by Ashley...the mimosas GOBLET was amazing!!
Rhya Bleser
Very loud and very crowded. Visited this place for a late dinner on a Wednesday night. The place was packed and very trendy in Atlanta. Despite the crowding and the noise, the service is awesome and the people are so friendly. You can tell that they enjoy their job! The food is very good and so flavorful. We had ordered every appetizer and multiple main courses. Out of them all, I recommend the pork dumplings, beef tips (this is their only beef item on the menu), or the pad Thai. The presentation of the food is exquisite. Huge perk: they booked us a complimentary Uber home for us!
Matt Cupp
Wow!! Not much else needs to be said.... We were lucky enough to find this place on our last night in Atlanta and were even more lucky to get a seat without a reservation (make a reservation). Lobster wontons were amazing, the salmon pad Thai was delicious, and the fried chicken with lobster mac and cheese was ridiculous! My wife loves ginger and ordered the El Diablo drink as a recommendation from the waitress and she said it was one of the best drinks she's ever had; enough so she ordered another...
Ali Rashty
I usually don’t write reviews but this one is too good to ignore. We had a great time at Calvin’s. Very satisfied with the food and the service.
But to be honest the price does not match their google suggestion and it should be $$$.
We ordered fried frog leg, Crab Wontons, and Siam Smoked Duck and Shrimp.
Every single dish had a different flavor and texture and they could be your favorite.
I would definitely go back as they change the menu every now and then so it never gets boring.
Alexis Lindsey
This place exceeded my expectations. I went with a group of co-workers. I ordered the fried chicken platter and jumbo coconut shrimp - Got the chocolate berry mascarpone cake to go which was AMAZING. The likelihood of me ordering this exact same thing is 1000%. Bravo Chef and Staff.
Sylvia Lang
Impeccable service from the moment you drop your car off at the handsome valet parking, to the front staff who great you warmly at the entrance, and to Sylvia, our wait person, who answered our every need. My favorite restaurant of all. Looking at the pics is icing on the cake. Please go and spoil yourself just once!
Tamantha Harrison
Make reservations! Even though we wanted to dinner here last night, lunch did not disappoint! The lobster rice is a must along with the crab grilled cheese!
Ifeanyi Emmanuel Ugwu
Went out with some friends for a birthday celebration. Poor Calvin had this lively and friendly environment so it's a cool place to hang out with friends. I did feel like it was kinda small to accommodate or cater to the number of people coming in and out. Overall I recommend whenever you get the chance.
kipper jones
I was commemorating what would have been my 4th wedding anniversary. So, the staff at Poor Calvin's made the experience a pleasantly unforgettable one! The food (Chilean Sea Bass), the drinks (The Bees Knees), and the service, (shout out to Ashley), were all beyond outstanding!
Lyn H
Great ambiance , great service, excellent food. Safety measures in place.... made reservations and we were seated promptly.
Anjelica Boney
My visit on August 15th was one of the best customer service experiences that I have experienced in Atlanta dining. My mother and I arrived to dinner without a reservation at about 5:45pm. The hostess was very accommodating and got us into a table, although they were on a time crunch as all of their evening reservations were booked at 7:15 pm that evening. They not once rushed us, although they were on a tight time crunch. The hostess was full of personality and you could tell took pride in his job. We were greeted by everyone as we were guided to our table which I thought was great because often times I've experienced service staff that if you aren't their table then you don't matter to them. On to our server Hayes, AMAZING!!!! He convinced me to get drinks, appetizer, entrees, and dessert. I probably only needed the entrée, lol. He sold everything on that menu and I bought it (I have the receipt to prove it). All around this is a great place to dine. People take pride in their jobs here and the food is delicious. Between the hostess and server, I will definitely return.
C.T. Williams
I took my wife here on a date after checking out the menu on their website. The menu tends to lean heavily towards shellfish so leave those with allergies at home. The restaurant was busy and even with a reservation, we had to wait. I enjoyed the food as well as the service. The lobster wontons were amazing. I had the Fried Chicken and Lobster mac and cheese. C'mon! How could I resist?! We were served the Crispy Beef on accident and it was very flavorful. I plan on trying it next time. My wife actually ordered the Seafood Siam Wok Toss. Delicious! My only critique is they should have more than one host or hostess when the restaurant is that busy.

As an Asian American living in California, I was skeptical at first when a dear friend recommended an Asian Fusion restaurant in Atlanta. Boy was I wrong. This is one of the best restaurants I've been in ages with great service; our lunch was such a great experience that we came back for dinner. Our dinner server Lola "ShananaNa" is full of energy and engaging hospitality. I strongly recommend placing a reservation on Open Table and schedule plenty of time for parking.
The restaurant was intimate with a full service bar, 3 dining area (outside patio, main dining room with a medium size bar, and a covered patio). There's a small parking lot that's self-park during weekday lunch and valet in the evening. The decor is accented with Thai and Southeast Asian pieces.
Now to the food (and drink):
Rum Tiki Punch delivers a strong punch with tropical flavors. Always available.
Fried Chicken (boneless breast meat cut into tenders) over their famous lobster mac and cheese is served with snap peas and grilled kale. Available at lunch and dinner.
Crab Meat Grilled Cheese has a meaty freshness of the sea. It's served with curled fries and a green salad, only during lunch.
Prik Kingh Soft Shell Crab is deliciously fried, served with pineapple and cashews in a spicy curry, and presented on a pineapple. Available during dinner.
The Tiger Shrimp Pad Thai and the Crispy Beef were both delicious and not notably different from great places you can find in California.
The Pandan Pound Cake was EVERYTHING! Definitely get this if you have a sweet tooth because this dessert delivers. The Pandan pound cake is soaked in caramel and served with caramelized bananas & strawberries and home made peach ice cream.
The Peach Cobbler is a crispy hand pie akin to a dessert empanada, dusted in cinnamon sugar, and served with home made peach ice cream and strawberries.
Yu-Hsien Ho
The food was absolutely amazing. It's probably the best fried rice I've ever tasted. The basil seafood was also exemplary. Shrimp was huge. The space is small and busy but service was great. Thoroughly enjoyed my dinner there. Would definitely eat there again.
Ericka G.
Little pricey, but worth it! Valet parking available but if you can uber take uber. The drinks are strong but tasty and if you're not sure what you want the bartenders are great at making suggestions you'll love. The food is amazing and the dessert was overwhelmingly good. Bring your appetite and a friend because you'll need both to finish everything. Size matters at Poor Calvin's
Nicole Kamalu
Must go to restaurant in Atlanta. Food portions are generous but delicious. You will not leave hungry. Staff is also friendly and entertaining. Would dine here again on my next visit to Atlanta.
Cavin Ward-Caviness
Absolutely amazing dining experience. The place is small and they use the bar area for serving so Id recommend reservations. But once you get in the service and food will be worth it! I had the Grouper Curry which was fantastic. Super flavorful, large portions. My girlfriend had the Crispy Beef which we both loved. Lots of garlic flavor but not overwhelming at all. Will definitely be going back.
JRAZZ Collection
Amazing service and delicious food. My favorite was the lobster wontons and for dessert the strawberry empanadas with ice cream. OMG best dessert ever!!!
Kimberly Pruitt
This dinner was so damn delish!!! The ambiance paired with the food & service was excellent!! I loved everything about this spot! My first night’s dinner in Atlanta and it was beyond my imagination!!! Wow! Just go!! Now!!
Bill Hogan
First, very Covid-19 conscious. Go science!
Staff is welcoming and everyone there is friendly and helpful without being overbearing.
The food is fantastic, huge portions. Breakfast the next day 😁.
We will be back next time in Atlanta!
Tameka Williamson
I have been wanting to visit for years and finally got there for my Birthday. What a treat it was. Great food and so many choices. I have to go back to indulge more. Awesome experience
Tamika Whitted
Very busy place, got there bout 7pm on a Saturday night. They would not seat over 7 guests, quite small inside, however the food was wonderful! Not at all on the cheap side, be ready to spend at least $100, appetizer, 2 drinks, and main entree.
Jen Kares
Loved Poor Calvin's 💜
I ordered calamari as an appetizer and it was delish. I then had the lobster fried rice as my entree...it was such a great portion I could not eat it all and passed it to someone else in need when I left. The lavender lemonade was also good. Service was great as well. I would definitely go again.
Christina Hughes
Some of the best brunch food I’ve had in ATL! Small space, but if you can grab a table, it’s some great Asian infused cuisine to try! Reasonable pricing as well.
Toya C
Calamari was magical. Lobster wontons were great. Drinks were awesome. We wanted to sit outside but later changed our mind as we sat at the bar waiting for a table to open up and glad we did. It was amazing watching how fast, friendly, and efficient the staff was. Can’t wait to return again!
Jennifer Snyder
Absolutely wonderful experience. Ashley was the epitome of hospitality, and every single thing we ordered blew us away. I cannot wait to return!
James Schroeder
Came here for a birthday dinner. The staff was very attentive. The food was incredible. I had the Prik Kingh and I've never had duck that was that good before.
Kimeisha Crum
I mean where do I begin... I booked this restaurant through OpenTable and gave instructions on where I wanted to be seated b/c it was my husband's birthday. We entered the restaurant and the SWEET hostess was so on point. I gave my name she looked at me and said 'oh I want to sit you right here' and smiled. She placed me in a perfect spot. She later told me that she put me there bc of the waiter. To say he was a dream come true would be an understatement. He gave us all the menu options off the top of his head. He was amazing! My husband loved the food and drinks and so did I. Our Lobster Mac & Cheese, My Lobster Fried Rice & his Lamb Chops were exquisite! After dinner they brought my hubby a great dessert for his bday and he was so surprised. This was all bc of my note on OpenTable. Thanks for following my directions guys. The service, food, drinks, atmosphere and even the valet was just ideal! I have already told my friends about the spot and we can't wait to return. Thanks Calvin's for the great time!
Stacey E. Simmons
Fantastic food and drinks. My family went for brunch and had a great time. The staff is knowledgeable about everything on the menu and made great suggestions.
Alicia Kennedy
Fantastic Thai fusion, mixing an intricate level of depth into the design, presentation and most importantly, flavor of their seafood-focused menu. Intimate interior and superb service make this an all around must-do in the Atlanta dining repertoire.

We've been wanting to go here for a long time and finally got the opportunity to. And it was definitely worth the wait and anticipation. Went in a group of 5 and everyone's food looked amazing as well as no complaints on taste (Pineapple shrimp fried rice, fried chicken w/ lobster mac, and Lobster fried rice). We all had a guava margarita (or two) and they were a hit!!!! I tried the tiki rum punch but that was a complete dud and do not recommend that at all if you're used to Caribbean rum punch. I wouldn't dare take a bit of the rating away because of that since everything else was above expectation. The hostess was pleasant, the woman who I think was the manager was extremely sweet, and our waitress was patient and helpful. I would definitely recommend going to Poor Calvin's and I can't wait to getback.

I was three weeks on a road trip around the southern USA, now I can say: that is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever eaten!!!
High professional kitchen and really really good staff.
Please make a reservation, it’s very popular!
It was a very beautiful evening, thank you.

Food 4/5
Service 5/5 - easy to approach and detailed explanation on dishes and desserts
Atmosphere - Dim light, bar and restaurant
We ordered two dishes, a drink, and a dessert.
1. Pad Thai Soft Shell Crab. Score:4/5
Price: $28
They make their own pad thai noodle and sauce (they say), and they are really good. It's very chewy and has deep flavor. However, the soft crab that came out with it was rather cold. It seemed like either it wasnt delivered right away when it was made, or it wasnt properly warmed up or cooked. That's only reason it's got 4 out of 5. It has bean sprout instead of mungbean sprout. Not too spicy.
2. Seafood thai curry. Score:4/5
Price: $32 +$2 (brown rice)
Creamy and thin curry with many seafood. The quality of seafood is really good, and curry is very tasty. It's got 4 out of 5 because it had a little spicy flavor as I dig in more and more with might have been a vietnamese small pepper. Gave me rather tingly spicy feeling.
3. Desserts was absolute success. Score;5/5.
One piece is $13 but! I highly recommend it if you are with one or more ppl. We got a piece of chocolate cake. It's so delicious.
4. If you are non-alcoholic, give lavender lemonade a try. Its 4 dollars and its worth it.
It could be a bit pricey but a good restaurant to celebrate a birthday or anniversary.
Stephen Spencer
The food is amazing, everything we ordered was amazing and the presentation was great. It was good enough for us to come two days in a row
Shaniece
The food is delicious. Dinner can be a bit pricey but it’s well worth it. The lobster fried rice and lobster Mac and cheese are superb. The winner was dessert. That bourbon ice cream with pound cake was phenomenal (not sure that it’s always available as they have no dessert menu). Best restaurant dessert I’ve had in a very long time.
Susan Gates
Absolutely delicious. Food and cocktails were fantastic with great flavor. Service was wonderful and staff helpful. Really cozy atmosphere. No complaints here. Would love to come back and try other items on the menu!
I had the prik kingh duck and hubs had the seafood curry. Both curries were packed with flavor and tasted amazing with the coconut rice. The dumplings we had for a starter were also tasty with the sesame ginger dipping sauce.
Deirdre Creamer
My absolute, favorite place ever!! The food here is out of this world literally. This place is a must try and a must return on repeat. The terrace makes for a romantic night with open french doors to the street or date with friends, Birthday gatherings, etc. You will not be disappointed. Thank me later
Jennifer Knight
Food was AWESOME. If you have an adventurous pallet, this is the place for you. Our waiters were very educated on the menu and the different flavors it entailed. Must go to place to treat yourself. The price is fair for an ATL restaurant. Gratuity is already included which is a plus, they deserve it. We had for appetizer the butter milk frog legs (not pictured). Dinner: 1) Sweet-and-sour duck shrimp 2) Fried grouper and shrimp Siam. Drinks: don’t quite remember but one is pictured here; drinks are strong and full of flavor at beyond great price. Check them out and you will not be disappointed.

Absolutely amazing food and ambiance! Currently my favorite place to take anyone who visits! Great kick off to My birthday. Must try the Crab Grilled Cheese and Lobster Rice and seafood rolls... ok the entire menu is delectable!
Tamika Mars
Ate here a long time ago. Tried it out again last week. They have good food and drinks. They also offer valet parking, which is good especially because this area is a little sketchy. Had the lobster fried rice, it was good, wish there was more lobster. The service was great and they can handle a large group.
Andrea Marie
Service and accommodations were all amazing. Delicious food with very large portions and a Uber ride home compliments of Poor Calvin’s 🙂🙃🙂
Seafood roll & lobster wonton appetizers
Trout stuffed with lobster, side of cauliflower & fried chicken, side of lobster Mac & cheese & greens.
Cristina Pomales
Fantastic food and service. The shrimp pad thai was great. I felt really unsafe during my walk to the restaurant but they offered a ride back at no cost. As a single traveler I ate at the bar and the staff was knowledgeable and energetic. Will definitely come back in my next visit to Atlanta.
Luka Phouvong
Good spot for downtown/midtown area, I like that this choice is here! Food was good and services was good, plenty of spirits to choose from so it's all good. Ordered three side dishes to share and the crabmeat grill cheese and oh might I add it was Saturday brunch time and yes their was a wait but they do take reservations so if you plan ahead you're golden but I got lucky and they sat us in 15min. I will be back to try other dishes for sure!
Nick Lowery
Wow. I stumbled across this restaurant largely unintentionally but man was it excellent. I had the Pad Thai with Shrimp and Scallops, which is served in a half of a pineapple. It was absolutely delicious. David was bartending and was a warm and welcoming host; a real master of his craft. I had an old fashioned and an autumn leaf.
Price wise it was a little spendy, and maybe deserves another “$” in the google profile. But overall between the service, drinks and food I have no complaints, and only praise for Poor Calvin’s! Thanks y’all!
Lauren Zuschlag
Good fun. Fun experience. It smells like fish when you walk in, but don't let that scare you. Desserts are an experience in and of themselves. Craft cocktails are seasonal and yummy.
Dirmary Torres
Amazing atmosphere, and staff! The food and drinks are divine. Our waitress was Jenny and we absolutely love her! She knew exactly what we wanted and was two steps ahead of us the entire time. They even made sure that we got back to our hotel safely with complimentary uber. Absolutely phenomenal.
KIMBERLY CONNEY
The appetizers, entree, dessert and drinks were all phenomenal! Gotta go back for the wok fried ribs asap!
Matt McClendon
Neat little place with not a lot of parking. The menu is eclectic to be sure, and pretty inventive. Deviled eggs are great, but the lobster Mac and cheese with fried chicken breast didn't really live up to my expectations. I'd suggest giving it a try in the evening rather than lunch to take advantage of the bar a little better.
Sonny Childs
Amazing food, amazing bartenders, amazing cocktails. Seriously one of the best meals I've had in many months. Everything we tried was executed well, great array of flavors. The service was great, even considering how busy they were and the fact that we sat at the bar. The greens were probably the best I've ever had.
j
Such a great experience. We made reservations for lunch but didn't need to. Our server, Hayes, was awesome. He described the menu perfectly and made us feel at home. I had the yellow shrimp curry and it was stellar! It had the perfect kick and was a huge potion. Definitely give this place a try.
Kiara Says So
When the waiter told us we were going on a food adventure he wasn’t lying. From the deviled egg appetizer, to the lamb chops for dinner to the empanada peach cobbler dessert, everything was Deee Lish us.. The lamb chops were to die for. Every bite had me moaning saying hmm hmm hmm. This was first time here and won’t be the last on my trips back to the A. This was a fabulous birthday dinner. My only gripe, was I wish they did something for birthdays . Like a song or something.
marla mccray999
The food was different but really good! We went after the Valentine's Day. I had the Thai seafood and my fiancé had the fried grouper. The presentation is nice as well along with the taste. Our waitress was Linda and she was really cool and up front. She was great!! The menu is a little pricey but it is worth it especially for a special occasion. We met the owner too Calvin and he was real chill. Great job Calvin!! The place is nice and dope.
Abagail Bleakney
One of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. Asian fusion restaurant but the deviled eggs are unique and delicious. Tiny lot for parking but they have valet. Handicap accessible via ramp. Table favorite was the frog legs but I love the red velvet cake (but you must share it with at least three people it’s so large)

I don’t generally leave reviews online, either positive or negative, but as a business owner I have to give a shout out to a small business that is doing everything this well! My wife and I stopped in this evening without reservations and to our surprise they were able to seat us right away despite being busy. The food was outstanding and the service was excellent! Ashley took great care of us so a special thanks to her. Everything we tried, including the cocktails had a wonderful balance of flavors and a beautiful presentation. We are from out of state but will certainly be back when we are in the area again. Great job to all!
Kasi Byrd
Let me start with the best part…the cocktail. First off I’m not someone who orders a cocktail with every meal, I typically go for the food but…I was so intrigued by the Pho cocktail because I love the soup. I Was Blown Away 😁 💣!!! I have never had a drink with such complex flavors, perfectly balance. I was in shock, it was AMAZING. The food was good as well but I wasn’t blown away. I had the special, ostrich and shrimp with mash potatoes and some sort of sauce with vegetables. Let me also add the server was awesome. She really knew the food and did an excellent job describing it. It was my first time having ostrich and her description of the taste was spot on. Not my favor but it was cooked really well. My one issue was that when you ate the dish as one bite the flavor was nice and balance but the proteins on their own weren’t really seasoned but all in all good food.
Kevan McCann
What do we even say?
This restaurant is a must-try. Incredible tastes and presentation. Very friendly service. You’ll want to go back again.
Lauri Nichols
My husband and I loved everything about this restaurant. The food, the atmosphere but most of all the bartenders! Jordon and the team took such great care of us. These guys were true professionals, mixing us the perfect cocktail each time. We ended up going back for brunch, and was not disappointed. This will be our go to everytime we are in Atlanta.
Jeffrey St Aime
Nothing spectacular about the food to me. The presentation is on point, hence the three stars. The desert we had was also extremely good. The food was overpriced for the flavors we experienced. The waitress though...she made the whole experience worth it. Great customer service. My three star rating is for their food, which is the most important part of a restaurant.
Domonique Scull
A little expensive but absolutely delicious foods and good serving sizes. Our waitress was super knowledgeable of everything on the menu and gave great descriptions of what to expect of our order. The atmosphere was very nice. Highly recommend for a celebration or date night out with a small group
Sertira McNair
Stumbled upon this restaurant on accident & so glad we did. Amazing atmosphere, impeccable service, & my goodness the food was delicious. I got the wild Chilean seabass special & it was close to the best I'd ever had. I highly recommend this spot ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Tabasom Eblaghie
Don't miss this little gem that offers the most delicious food in a great environment! You'll be addicted with the first taste! Definitely try the deviled eggs and the lobster fried rice - heaven!
Ankita
There portions were great for the price and every dish was delectable. Will return soon!

Wow just Wow. Louise - you are an amazing server. We were blown away by how well everyone works together to make every person have a great experience. The Secret Garden drink is phenomenal - the wine list works with the types of food. We share fried green tomatoes which were wonderful and out of the ordinary with flavors. The fried grouper in the pineapple - wow. So very good, flavors were out of this world and a very generous portion. When we come back to Atlanta - we will be back. Exceptional. Thank you for the amazing meal!
wendy adams
The food was awesome. The waiter black guy was fabulous. I had the lobster fried rice. Enough for 2 people. The presentation of the entries is exactly as the pictures you see. This is a nice place for an anniversary.

My Best Friend Treated Me To Dinner,Still Celebrating My Birthday From One Week Ago. Anywhoo,The Drinks I Constantly Requested They We’re Out Or Couldn’t Substitute Valet Parking You Must Tip Them-SMH.
Overall,Wasn’t Pleased ,However, I’m Giving 4 Stars Because Of The Drinks… (Also It Was Very Noisy And Large Crowds Of Younger African American Groups)(For The Area I Would Like To Have Thought A Mixed Crowd In The Dinning Area) Not Sure If I Will Return!
Vince Stranges
Tip was included on the bill but didn’t realize so added it at the end, as was not given the itemized receipt when we signed the credit slip. Ended up tipping $40 on a $70 bill! Food and service was great, they even had a complimentary Uber service. Would be 5 star if they were more forthcoming about the included tip or the receipt you sign shows the tip or has an “additional tip” section. There is a line saying that at bottom of menu but didn’t notice. We tipped more than what they put tip as, so would have been happy to add to what we felt like our great server deserved !

Everything was delicious 😋 😌 🤗
Service was great.
Drinks were good.
Vikki A. Johnson
AH-MAZINNNNNG! Everything was so delicious! I had the Australian lamb chops, the lobster wonton topped with caviar, the peach cobbler empanadas for desert and the Tiki Log island ice tea! The service was equally superb, Andre made my dining experience 1000% perfect, EVERYTHING WAS SUPERB!
I can't wait to go back again!
Lindsay Glover
Food and service was excellent. My friends and I ordered several appetizers and dishes so that we could sample everything. We had a great time and our food was delicious.
John Traveler
After eating here on my travels a month or so ago. My take on this place is A- . Lobster fried rice is on point and delicious. Reservations is a plus. On the atmosphere side gets a solid A-.
Maureen Cheung
Love love this place! Very unique flavors fusing Asian cuisine with the South. The best restaurant we tried on this trip! Highly recommend.
Danelle
Glad I was finally able to make it here. This place is pretty busy so make sure to make a reservation. We ordered the lobster fried rice and a scallop risotto special. I also order the lychee martini. Everything was good. I really enjoyed the food.
Trellis Hamilton
Absolutely wonderful place for exceptional food and service wish I could give more stars 🌟 food was exquisite from appetizers, drinks and entree. The host was so welcoming we were sat at the bar, and the bartender didn't disappoint. He never missed a beat and gave us full descriptions of our appetizers to our entree, all while fully engaging us and others....AWESOME EXPERIENCE
Candace Files REALTOR 404-285-8916
The staff was excellent. Very attentive and courteous! We sat at the bar for our meal. It was the only thing available but we weren't having drinks that night. The drinks were different and looked awesome! The food was just ok. It all came out quickly but none of it was hot!!??? Overall it was a neat place to try!
Lisa Dave
Lots of food! Large portions! Great place to share plates. Everything was delicious. Great service. We will be back!

Poor Calvin was where I had my first meal in Atlanta.
Oh My God.
I set the bar way too high.
You see, I wasn't expecting to be wowed. I didn't even look at the prices or menu. I was like "a mile out? 4.6 stars? Why not"
After walking that mile, I came in, and the only spot I could take was at the bar and directly in the draft of the door blowing onto me and my food.
As I say there, I began to realize how lucky I was getting a seat. People started piling in. You definitely need a reservation to eat here in a group within a reasonable time.
What really caught my attention at the bar was all the food other patrons were eating. It all looked beyond delectable. I was pumped.
I order a Thai Tea and the crispy beef.
First of all, that Thai Tea was delicious.
Definitely gave me some hope for the $17 crispy beef.
When that plate arrived I was impressed by the plating. But the moment I placed one piece of the beef into my mouth.
Ooo lawwwd.
It was impossible to comprehend.
The texture was so amazing to me. A light batter on such a soft beef slice, magically capable of being crispy.
All the vegetables served with the dish were perfect for the beef.
And then there were these little Peruvian peppers all over the plate that almost made me cry tears of joy. They're called teardrop or sweety drop peppers. I need them in my life.
I wanted to get more food, but I was full from downing a Publix sub in the morning.
I don't know how Calvin is possibly poor, but he deserves all the money I spent.
Ty Short
Very well put together restaurant, parking is a little difficult. Also make a reservation to make seating quicker. All of the staff was super friendly. As for the food, it's top teir. Very large portions for majority of the meals I've seen come out of the kitchen. Definitely a place to try some new and different things.
Nick C
Great place. Service was great. Food was great. Restrooms tend to back up during peak times. Make a reservation
Team De Jesus
A friend recommended this place to me and I was amazed how accurate her description of the food was. She loves it so much she had me bring her some back. The Lobster wonton and fried green tomaties were amazing appetizers. For lunch I had the Crabmeat Grilled cheese which was to die for.
Yara Adam
Absolutely fantastic, a must try!
They have two Gluten free apatizers. Both were great. But the calamari was awesome. The service is excellent as well.
Sam Goldberg
What a fantastic meal. We didn't have a reservation, so we had to wait a little while to get a table, but it was well worth it. Everyone loved their meal and cocktails. I had lobster fried rice that was fantastic. Their home chili sauce was really spicy, but really good. Some kind of crawfish fried puff thing and fried frog legs for appetizer were on point. I would 1000% come back to this place..... just with a reservation.
Rachel Dowling
Fantastic seafood vegetable curry and cocktails (out of this world!)
Charming service, even when very busy.
They even called us an Uber bc the area around the restaurant is so sketchy. (Don’t walk there!)
Theo Bolden
Man this place was great. The bartender Henry described everything on the menu so well I wanted to try everything. Let me just say the highlight of my evening was their specialty long island. You have to get that.
Jo
We were told By Willis at the Hard Rock, that Poor Calvin's is a must and he wasn't wrong. It was definitely a must have dining experience, from the food to the service. Our server Robert was excellent and we waited for nothing, the appetizer and entrée came out (timed perfectly) and even recommended pairing of beverage. The chef's abilities truly shine, I'd comeback to Atlanta just to eat here again.
Margarita LeBlanc
Fabulous flavors in each prepared entree. Our 15 year old son devoured the steamed mussels and the Lobster fried rice. 😋😋😋😋😋 …
Ishan Talukdar
Food was great, our server Enoch was excellent, very helpful and knowledgeable about the menu.
Had the Duck and Shrimp Siam as well as the Fried Grouper. Both were excellent.
Be warned. I ordered 1 slice of a cake. The size of one slice is the size of a whole cake.
Michael Gray
Food was amazing way better than I expected !Everything was on point all the flavors blended well. Drinks were good as well . Server was very attentive didn’t have to wait long our food to be brought out. Great experience will definitely be back!
Amy Baier
So worth the wait! My coworker and I were in from out of town and were looking for someplace fun and local to Atlanta. We were surprised to see how packed the small restaurant was. We ended up waiting for roughly 45 minutes for a table and it was well worth the wait! Our waiter was very friendly and gave fantastic recommendations. It would have been helpful to be able to call ahead and put our name on the list. They have a valet service out front that was complimentary (even though it wasn’t marked) so we drove around the block a couple times before realizing pretty much our only option to park was with the valet. The food was great and the drinks were great. I didn’t know how I felt about Thai/local cuisine, but we were both extremely satisfied with our food.
Emily Weese
I cannot overstate how fantastic this restaurant is. The food is amazing; drinks are fantastic. I've been several times and have never had a bad dish. Absolutely order the lobster fried rice and the suspension cake. Ask for Louise to be your server - she knows all!!
JaeEl Dubbyu
The food here is a perfect layering of flavors that you wouldn't believe. Try it immediately! We sat outside and every waitress, manager, and host were wearing masks...so refreshing.
Jessica Lynn Barber
💥Amazing food, drinks and service as usual💥💥cocktails, 🍷, lobster 🦞fritters and fried chicken ..all was delish!!👌
Justin Holladay (Smith)
Really great dinner! Went with a couple friends and had the fried chicken with collards and lobster mac and cheese. It was Devine! The cocktailsare strong and super pretty as well.
Kane Fuata
Service: phenomenal, food: amazing.
Went here for my birthday and the staff here is so friendly. Never gonna be able to eat another wonton after this experience. The waiters even served me a key lime pie with a candle :)
Highly recommend to anyone and everyone
Shar Dorsey
My experience was just okay... I made reservations & that helped tremendously. The customer service was awesome & the ambience was nice.
My food looked very pretty but could have used some seasoning... the lobster & rice were bland. I'd give them another try because I really enjoyed myself & hopefully be able to add more stars.
Grace O
It was heaven on Earth. Tasty. Balanced. Succulent. The curry sauce was amazingly good. The Grouper entree.
My friends had the Lamb chops and they definitely chopped it up!!! No meat left on the bone. Plate cleaned.
Jenny Chan
This place is popular for a reason! The ambiance is great for a date night or intimate catch up with friends, and the food and drinks are one of the best examples of fusion. Frog legs were loved by all, fried wontons were like a tastier crab rangoon, Mac n cheese was not your typical, more similar to a pasta dish w a kick of spice - must try!! Sea bass, lamb chops, and the lobster seafood stew were all amazing. The pound cake dessert was the best dessert I've had in a long time, and outshone their strawberry shortcake specialty. The chocolate covered caramel apples are also surprisingly refreshing and tasty. Will definitely be coming back if I am lucky to score a reservation!
Lyn Scales
Compliments to the chef and staff, our experience was phenomenal!! It started with the gracious greeting from the hostess, then a knowledgeable presentation of the menu from our waitress. Followed by the beautifully presented entree, and an equally amazing delightful bite.
Hartson Krosp
Most AMAZING food & Unique Cocktails! Extremely Friendly & Knowledgeable staff!!!
Teresa Aluku
The food is ok. The coconut shrimp needs a little sauce ... too dry. Overall the food is decent.
Michelle Batise
Good food southern spin on asian thai cuisine! Reservations are recommended but they usually can accommodate!
Grace Louis
My husband took me for my birthday celebration and when I tell you from start to finish everything was amazing. The appetizers and entrées were absolutely amazing. Highly recommend 10/10
Sana Mustaq
Loved the food!!! I wasn't planning on joining my family for the meal but I'm so glad i did!!!
We had the Tom yum soup, the Pan Seared Chilean Sea bass and the Lobster fried rice. Delicious all around. Will definitely go back for more!
Grace Hixson
Food was great. Ambiance good. Very nice date night. Can be expensive. But if your looking for a memorable foodie experience filled with experienced staff and quality dining. This should be on your list.
Shannen B
AMAZING!! This has been on my list of places to visit for a while & now I want to take all of my friends! The customer service is top tier & just when I thought they were overcompensating for the food, the food is even better than the service! Or maybe they go hand in hand! Either way, I had drinks, appetizers, entree & dessert & not only thing lacked flavor! Not one!
Keneth Saulsberry
Chef's special cajun seafood pastawas awesome! Lobster fried rice was very good. Wish they had shrimp fried rice. Great portion sizes. Ambience also nice. A little pricey though. Edit...After a 2nd visit, My review stays the same... But the pricing keeps me from making this a regular!
Lynn
Superb service and the food is just as amazing. One of my favorite restaurants in Atlanta. I would highly recommend this place for a celebratory dinner.

This place is spectacular! Definitely worth the hype and huge portions to share. The menu is inventive, the food is super high quality, and the drinks are bomb. So, so good!
marie blaize
The food was delicious or DIVINE,sha la la as my waitress Lowla would have put it. Cozy and welcoming environment with eclectic Asian decor.
Christina Sanders
Food had some good, tasty flavors. The fried chicken with lobster mac & cheese was very flavorful and is a must try. But OMG their cakes! It is to die for! Delightfully delicious! I never had Red velvet with strawberries and mascarpone before but if I ever want some again, I will ONLY come to Poor Calvin's to get it!
Colten Caldwell
Very trendy restaurant. A bit expensive, but the food is worth it. I got the "Duck Dynasty", which has duck and lobster. The duck was the best I've had, ever. The lobster was decent, but could have been better. Presentation and service is top notch. I would make a reservation, but they do have a bar and a community table.
Tarik Scott
The food was great! The service was excellent and the ambiance was fitting for fine dinning.
Ben Trautman
service and food was fantastic, and Calvin himself was in the kitchen tonight. every small part of each dish could have stood apart on its own, the attention to detail was on full display
Luke Montgomery
Excellent service, excellent decor... but a bit too pricey. 2 people, 1 appetizer, 2 entrees and 1 desert. Spent WELL over $100... The food was good but if you're not big on pricey food (like me) it's too much. Went for date night and my gf was happy. Probably won't be back because it's just not for me but it's a very nice establishment.
