I'm a little bit of a curry addict and I eat lots of Indian food, but I ordered outside my norm here. I got the mixed grill of all the tandoori meats. The shrimp tasted very fresh. The boneless chicken and beef were a little dry, but bone-in chicken and lamb had great texture. The tandoori flavor was very good on the chicken, but the overall flavor/juices on everything were very reserved and did not stand out like Indian spices should. I chose medium heat, but I didn't taste any heat at all. I did appreciate that naan came with meal instead of rice and it was soft and pretty good. I also ordered fish dumplings, a relatively new Indian dish to me, but I can definitely get behind that crusty exterior with the dumpling flavor inside. They were very tasty and the sauces were unique, making them even better. Is the curry here more of a highlight? I wish I knew the answer, but based off of my experience, Taste of India was a solid okay.

Taste of India is just what it says it is. Authentic India food full of flavor and fresheness! You leave feeling full but not bogged down by unhealthy food. I got the Chai tea and loved when they gave me the teapot with extra. Ended up being about 3 full glasses of tea. Rich in flavor and good service. I highly recommend it to anyone wanting some great indian food!

I apologize for the abysmal spelling before I get into my review. We ordered as many samplers as possible to try and much as we good. We ended up with: the appetizer sampler (everything was absolutely phenomenal), tandoori chicken, tandoori shrimp, beef khebab, bagam Bharta, palak paneer, daal, pickle, and four types of naan. When I tell you EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS it was one of the best Indian meals I've had in a long time and I have a new go to place in Anchorage. Tucked away in a strip mall, this place is comfortable, service is kind, and the food is to die for. Stop by and try it all!

Excellent food and wonderful service. I would highly recommend the chick pakoras, vegetable samosas, tandoori mixed grill, and the curries. Also, the Marsala Chai is delicious with free refills.

This place is fantastic and is really close to some of the best indian food I've had in New York and the UK. Big portion size, Naan is large yet fluffy, and the sauce is fantastic. The chicken was a bit dry but not too noticeable since it's covered in sauce. Great service, highly recommended!

This restaurant is absolutely a gem. First of all the service was really good, they were very welcoming and polite so the overall atmosphere was very comfortable and relaxing. Most importantly, the food here was amazing. I honestly don't think you could go wrong with any item on the menu, the food is so rich with such a depth of flavor and each item really shines in its own way. Whoever is in the kitchen here absolutely knows what they're doing and it shows. I ate so much food, I felt like I immediately had to go home and nap. I highly recommend checking this place out, this is hands down the best Indian food I have had in a very long time.

This is a great restaurant. It's kind of a hole in the wall place, a little out of the way, but it is totally worth it. The atmosphere is lovely and the service is exceptional. The staff there is really kind and personable. The food is just beyond. Going there, I was not expecting much as it's very difficult to get authentic ethnic food in Alaska, but this place delivered. The food is flavorful, full of spice, and exactly what you need for comfort food. It is a little expensive (averaging $20 per dish) but I believe it was worth it.

I thoroughly enjoyed my meal here. I had the Goat Bhuna (HOT) with Naan and loved every second of it. The meat was tender and and the flavor was to my liking. I will be back to try some more dishes in the future

Absolutely delicious authentic Indian food. We first placed to-go order and decided to dine in on the spot and manager accommodated us without any issues. We really liked the softness of paneer. Yogurt rice was awesome & they make yogurt in house so could taste the freshness. Manager was very helpful answering the questions we had about the places to visit in Anchorage. Keep up the good work!!

First thing first customer service was top notch. We ordered on phone almost like 30 min before closing and we were supposed to be there at 9:30 but unfortunately with unpredictable Alaskan traffic stops we never would reach , so requested if they can wait 30 min more and they agreed. Wow just wow that's the point I didn't care about food bcoz we were hungry from afternoon . It was 10 an we were 15 min away, again called them requested they agreed. Man u guys just rock. Coming to food, I lived it remote parts of us , capital cities like Santa fae, NM.. Jefferson city ,Mo...Carson city, Reno ,NV... Madison,WI..so I said to my friends not to expect much as I know there would some difference of expectation. I know there would be some cashews, kismis which was part of most Biryanis in north parts of India and middle eastern. So requested not to have and made it spicy. I kept low expectations but the biryani turned good. We ordered both lamb and chicken biryani. We also ordered non veg tandoori appetizer platter with everything which was just okok. I think it needs some flavor added to it. Again with their patience these flavours are nothing. Thank you so so much...... 🙏🙏🙏🙏 God bless u and ur families...stay safe.

Super tasty. I have been dying to try this place since I moved here and it didn't disappoint. The staff were friendly and the accommodating, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was quaint. You walk in and you immediately are surrounded by all the wonderful smells of their cuisine! 😋 I will definitely be coming back

Visited this Indian restaurant in August 22, I would rate this is 5 * , freshly cooked food, excellent service with smile. I think this is run by two brothers. Would recommend this place if you crave for Indian food while in Alaska!

Went with a group that was craving Indian food. This place is awesome. You will see some life size cutouts of Bollywood stars to provide a unique ambience. Loved the food as well. Must visit if you are in the area.

Online ordering in advance (about 4 hours) was a breeze. Items were so fresh they were being boxed as we arrived for pickup. All the basics of a flavorful Indian meal. Worth the expense as we easily got lunch and dinner for 3 out of 3 entrees and 2 appetizers. My 14 y/o raved over her lamb tika and is excited to take leftovers to middle school lunch. Lol

Me & my husband stopped at this place while on our vacation and we needed some homemade Indian food we randomly found this place on google maps and oh my god!!! What an amazing place, what amazing food and super sweet staff. The food felt like it was cooked at home. Naan was one of the best and softest I have had in a while, garlic chicken was soft and delicious. The yellow dal hit the spot, just so tasty. But the best part was the masala Tea/chai!!

they delivered a great dinner to our hotel room, charging only $6 delivery fee...the lamb vindaloo was so tender it just about melted in our mouths, excellent, distinct spices as with the palak paneer! highly recommended!!

We wanted to try Indian food in our trip and came to Taste of India. The staff is very friendly, the place has Bollywood music and the menu has good variety. We ordered a lot of paneer dishes as we are vegetarians. Must say paneer pakora was very good and even better was Kadhai paneer. We wanted it hot/ spicy and they followed the brief! The garlic naan was flavourful and soft. in this overdose of paneer, we also ordered paneer kulcha. We also ordered a tandoori paneer sizzler which we found very average. Overall, we loved the food. Thanks for making our evening great with delicious food.

I make Anchorage errand excuses to come from the Valley just so that I can get ToI take out! Food is always spiced to my liking and is delicious! Service is excellent and I love the Bollywood vibe and music. One day I will have the time to dine in.

One of the best Indian restaurants I’ve ever been to not just Anchorage. They run an extremely tight ship and you can tell it’s a small operation but done well with a lot of care. Came here without reservations before the dinner rush and was able to be seated without waiting. One of the perks of dining in is the taste of india special which allows you to get a sampler platter to try many dishes at the same time. Being able to order one main meat dish and 2 vegetarian dishes with rice, a crispy chip, and a sweet dessert soup all in one plate for under $25 is the best value for restaurants in Alaska I’ve ever seen. Every dish we tried was fantastic and wouldn’t hesitate to come back anytime. They also use clover’s POS allowing you to pay online using just a QR code which accepts apple pay for an absolute seamless payment experience. Love it!

The outside looks a little shady but the restaurant is very clean and pleasant. When you walk in the front door, the fragrance smacks you in the face like a warm blanket. It makes you just want to stay there...no moving....just comfort. This was my first authentic Indian food experience; the staff was very kind and patient. They explained the menu and even explained my choices so I would completely understand what I was ordering. Every bite I took was heaven! The staff took joy out of my experience in their food. It wasn't JUST a meal......it was an experience!

After 8 long days of not eating Indian food, we were really craving for some but we were apprehensive because of the experience we had with other cuisines we tried throughout Alaska. But boy were we wrong!! The food was absolutely delicious. We have had the good fortune of eating some really good Indian food in US and Taste of India's food was right up there. The Veg Biriyani was absolutely brilliant, I asked for Hot level spicy and it kindled my spice buds at the right level. The flavors were all rightly blended and my Wife had Fish curry and she wouldn't stop raving about it even after we reached home. I would absolutely recommend this place for great Indian food in Anchorage.

The best India Food I have ever had! The flavor and the preparation is so incredible for restaurant food in Alaska. This place raises the bar for what you should expect when dining out. The tandoori chic extraordinary! The lamb curry dish OMG I can not get enough of the curry sauce I cannot wait to eat more. This was my first time visiting this place an I will sure to be back again soon. Thank you for not disappointing! The Filipino food next door has gone down hill. I would recommend you pass on that and order food from the Taste of India you will not be disappointed!

FANTASTIC!!! Taste of India is absolutely delicious . I am not an adventurous eater but here I can order new things because I know it will be good. I rarely go to Indian restaurants but this one hits harder than Muhammad Ali. My lamb tikka masala was absolutely amazing and so were the sides. To top it off, the payment process is done with a QR code using Clover and is seamless because you can use Apple Pay to pay on your phone. This place really did it.

Only my second time trying Indian food and I loved it! The garlic naan bread was excellent and the fried rice and chai tea were delicious. The atmosphere was cozy and it felt like we were traveling outside of Anchorage! We will definitely be back.

BEST Indian food around! The Curry was amazing! The flavor of the herbs and spices were extravagant! The Roti was buttery and soft. The samosas were crispy and had tons of flavor and the rice is cooked to perfection! The chai tea masala was perfect not to sweet and you can taste the spices! Haven't had curry like this in a while. Only thing I got to say bad about it is that I wish I didn't find it because I know ill be eating there too much🤣... I recommend you give it a try and I'm sure you'll love it too! 🙌

I really like Taste of India. I even went here on my birthday. My parents came with me, as well as two of my friends and also my brother and also his girlfriend. Yeah, it was kind of a crowd (I also have other friends, but they were busy that night). Even though there were so many people at my birthday dinner, they all loved the food and the service. I go here a lot because the food is so good, actually. The rice is good and the naan is also good, actually. You can get whatever, though, and it will taste good because they know what they are doing in the kitchen. I have never been to India, but when they say it is called "Taste of India" they are definitely right.

I have done both take out and dine in and the quality if the food is consistently amazing! I highly recommend for both experiences and the staff was very nice. I had the tandoori chicken when I dined in and it was an amazing experience and plenty to share (or have for another meal)!

Well...it was my first time trying out Indian cuisine. I asked my Indian friend to pick food for me and I ordered it. Everything was absolutely delicious! I have had Onion Kulcha, Aloo Paratha, Veggie Samosa, butter chicken and sheikh kebab. I topped it with Gulab Jamun, Masala Tea and mango Lassi 🤤🤤🤤 What a feast! My kids went crazy and they are very picky about their food. Planning to go back Asap! I would add pictures but I did not manage it was all gone so fast 😁😁 Also restaurant was looking very welcoming, the interior was cozy, yet clean and modern. Next time i will make sure to stay in not order a pick up. Staff was very polite, helpful and professional.

EAT HERE!! I am so amazed with this restaurant! I’m from Houston, Texas, home to a lot of great Indian food, but this completely exceeded all my expectations! I originally came in hoping to take some food to-go, but the atmosphere was so inviting that I decided to dine in. I got the butter chicken from the lunch menu. I was blown away with the flavor, texture, and great portion sizes. The staff were amazing and the environment was perfect. I can’t wait to try more of the menu!

Delicious. I really enjoyed the chicken malai curry and the naan. We did the combo basket, so we were able to try three different types of naan. The green sauce with the vegetable samosas were also incredible. Excellent service and very clean as well. I can't wait to go back!

Hands down the BEST (if I could bold letters I would) Indian food I have had in town, and the BEST customer service. We ordered samosas, two vegan dishes, and and order aloo paratha. Everything tasted amazing, and I plan to come back and eventually have everything on the menu hahaha. My boyfriend and I showed up on a fairly busy night as well, but yet the customer service maintained it's top quality. After having traveled to India a few years ago, I've been on a hunt for authentic Indian food, and honestly good chai. It's next on my list to try there. I'm really excited. I absolutely fell in love with this place and I've only been there once so far. you won't be disappointed.

After eating here, I absolutely cannot fathom how there are negative reviews for this restaurant. For anyone, either living in or visiting Anchorage, this restaurant is an absolute must visit. Our group visited the restaurant late after traveling and still received absolutely impeccable service and rich, savory, home style food. For example, even with the place being packed, we were seated fast and served without waiting long. On top of this, everyone in the y was extremely kind, kept the kitchen open for us, and brought us order upon order without complaint. As a Indian food aficionado, I thought that the lamb tikka masala, butter chicken, the daal, and the other dishes we ordered were rich and savory, with well marinated meat and well rounded flavor. The kulfi was also amazing and would highly recommend. Overall: amazing service, top of the line food, and great ambiance. Eat here and you won’t regret it!

Simply , strip mall atmosphere BUT ... The food was delicious , I can't say how good it was, the best in Anchorage, we tried lamb, chicken , seafood . Every dish was sooo good!! Great service so nice and we are picky . Not a missed step, very accommodating.

The servers were friendly and kind and the seating was very comfortable. The food was delicious. We enjoyed the warm naan, samosa, and curry! Highly recommend this restaurant -So far it is my favorite restaurant in Anchorage! Definitely try the chai tea. It is sweet, but not too sweet, and compliments the other dishes nicely.

This is the place to eat indian food! However if you normally get 'medium' spicy, get 'mild' here. Apart from that, this was an epic eating experience!

The BEST Indian food we have ever had. There is no comparison. I highly recommend you try the Chicken Tikka Masala. We are so impressed with the spice and flavor no matter the level of heat. The best Indian restaurant hands down! My daughter is vegan now and grew up loving the Indian buffet, especially, saag, cream spinach. Traveling to Portland we were so excited about all the vegan Indian food. Now, Anchorage has an amazing Indian restaurant with vegan choices as good or better than Portland.

Taste of India was my first experience with Indian food, and it did nothing short of open my eyes to a whole new world. The chicken Tikka masala was one of the best things I have ever eaten. The Naan was perfect for dipping in the curry, and the chicken samosas made for a truly decadent appetizer. The food came out fast despite the restaurant being busy at the time, and the service was top of the line. I can't recommend trying Taste of India enough!

Top notch customer service. We got paneer pakora, garlic naan, and paneer curry. Paneer pakora and garlic naan deserves 5 stars. They were fresh and well made. Paneer Curry needs improvement. Gravy was very low, and whatever flavor it had, felt like tomato sauce and too tangy. I hope restaurant reviews their recipes and sees if there is scope for improvement.

Small business with big flavors. Cozy atmosphere, helpful staff and great food. Medium is a good strong medium, so plan your spice tolerance appropriately. Try the naan, quite good too. Definitely worth a visit, to go or delivery.

Amazing food. Favorite dish is the vegetable kofta. I've tried several dishes on the vegetarian menu and all are great. Their medium is quite spicy, so get mild if you're not a spice fiend. The vegetable pakoras are fantastic, particularly the chutney dipping sauce. Garlic naan (and regular naan) are not to be missed either . The mango Lassi yogurt drink is so good. I'm not normally into creamy drinks but I looove this.

Last night, my family and I enjoyed our first experience with Taste of India - and it will definitely not be our last! We ordered Chicken Tikka Masala, Aloo Matter, Palak Paneer, and Naan to go. Everything was PERFECT! Everything was seasoned well and incredibly flavorful. The naan was a fluffy cloud of deliciousness to accompany the main dishes. Just wonderful! Highly, highly recommend!!

First time here and i ordered to go. I feel that if i order to go they should double check everything is in the bag. Unfortunately they forgot the naan. I called and told them i was told they would refund it but they forgot that too. Not surprised honestly. Let's start off with the portions are good. I got 3 dishes. The palak paneer, Chicken tikka masala and the potato dish that i forgot the name of. To be honest i wasn't a fan of the palak paneer, which happens to be my favorite dish. Ive had it better in other places. The chicken tikka masala was good but it tastes like tomato basil soup. I feel like some of the spices were missing. The potato dish was delicious! My favorite. I hadn't had it anywhere else to compare it to. I may give this place another try and try dishes i haven't before. Update: Checked my account and they have refunded the naan. I have raise my two start review to 3. I may come back to dine in and see if anything changes 10/10/2021 We gave this place a try again and it was really good! So happy we went back! We ordered the palak paneer and the chicken Tikka masala, it was way better than the first time and this time we got the naan and they did give us extra which took me by surprise when they remembered that they told us they would when we came back.

If you are in Anchorage, craving for some Indian cuisine, this is go-to place for sure. The staff is so friendly. We were running late from Whittier and our ETA was 10:00 pm. We called and requested and they waited for us for pickup. Also, their food was really delicious. We had paneer karahi, paneer matar and yellow daal. They also accommodated our request to make couple of dishes without onion and garlic. Highly recommend this place.

Taste of India is definitely the best Indian restaurant in Anchorage. It is incredible to think that you can get such good Indian food so far north! We ordered Aloo Gobi, Paneer Tikka Masala, Naan, and Mango Lassi. All of the food was delicious and it was prepared in a timely manner.

Really great customer service and amazing food! We got the veggie samosas, chicken vindaloo, and shrimp malai curry. Super flavorful and delicious! I like that their prices are affordable too. I know some other Indian joints can be a bit costly. I cannot recommend this place enough!

A taste of India is exactly that. The moment I took my first bite, I felt like I was back in the little village surrounded by a banana orchard at a tiny restaurant, where I had my first and most flavorful curry backpacking around northern India in 2009. I would recommend this food to anyone that wants to try Indian food for the first time or the die-hard that's looking for their next fix of Kabab. This is my new secret spot.

Went with my Daughter and Son in Law last Saturday, first let me say that I am from India and taste and spice consistency of the food is authentic , we got Lamb Vindaloo spiced and tangy, Chicken Tikka Masala very smooth and tasteful with soft moist chicken pieces, and the Mixed grill plate, with some of the best Sikh Kawab I have had in a while,. everything was spiced just right and when persons at our table asked for hot or mild the level of spice heat was perfect, quantity was more than sufficient. Let me add that the chicken in the meals was soft, many times when going to other restaurants and ordering Tandoori Chicken the chicken tended to be dry but not here, their Tandoori Chicken was soft and moist and flavorful, just like home, the Chai Tea was well prepared and we got a full teapot so we could fill up as necessary. Wait staff kept our soft drinks and water filled and stopped by multiple times to check if we need anything else. Décor is muted and tasteful and we had Table Cloths and cloth napkins - so nice to go out to a restaurant and not have to eat on a glass covered table and have paper products. Thank you to the staff and management of Taste of India for one of the best dinner experiences we have had in Anchorage. We will be coming back

Let me first say I love the food! However I do NOT like my sauces diluted with water. The chutney was water, complete water, as was the green sauce. I’ve eaten in the restaurant and had the sauce at other restaurants so I know it was overly diluted. Please don’t let this be the start of bad business.

We had dinner here to celebrate my bday. There were 7 of us. 2 adults and 5 kids. Allll of my children loved the food and we were so comfortable there. Food was amazing. Our server was great and patient with us as we butchered the menu because we had no idea what a lot of it was. We all ordered something different and it was soooo good . This is the best Indian food I've ever had in Alaska, and the least Americanized of Anchorage's Indian restaurant options. The flavors, textures, and spiciness were all very authentic, similar to Indian food I've had in my friends' kitchens, or in places like Jackson Heights in Queens. I loved how spicy it was, but would advise others that their scale is somewhere between those of other Indian restaurants in town (which are mild), and those of Lao restaurants in town (which are VERY spicy). The mild lamb saag and mild paneer kurtha was good for my 4-year-old, but too spicy for my 6-year-old. The hot bhindi banji (which I am SOOO happy that they have on the menu) was delicious for me, but definitely made my mouth hurt. I can't wait to try more dishes here. They were also very COVID-conscious, and made the paying-by-phone/curbside pickup process very easy.

With the positive feedback I’ve read on social media, I wanted to try this new restaurant myself and see what the hype was all about. I ordered for pickup and I will comment that their service is as excellent as the food. I personally ordered for myself the lamb tikka masala and the garlic naan bread. When I arrived, the food was ready for pickup and was hot when I got to my home to be devoured. Their garlic naan bread was fresh and went well with the tikka masala sauce. While I was able to finish off the bread, I wasn’t able to finish off my main meal. Their portion of rice served with the lamb tikka masala was huge. I was surprised as to how much rice was provided and it will be saved for leftovers because it was too much! Luckily the lamb tikka masala, the star of the show, was plentiful to be also used for leftovers. The flavor and heat was perfect when either being eaten with the bread or rice. Their lamb was tender and with the tikka masala sauce, the flavor was potentiated. Kudos to the small team for making a huge impact. I will be coming again to try out their other dishes.

I went to give it a try a few days ago because I had family members go there and it was all they talked about after returning. I ordered the chicken tikka masala with some naan and their mango ice cream dessert, honestly, I don't know what I was expecting but it was delicious. The drink I had there, a mango lassi, was also very nice. The service there was excellent too. The best I've ever had, if I could eat there everyday I totally would so I plan on returning in a few days again hahaha

The vegetable pakora was wonderful, as was the chicken tikka masala and the vindaloo. The dipping sauces that came with the pakora and samosas were delicious. I will definitely be ordering from this restaurant again and am looking forward to trying other things on the menu as well.

I spent 4 months in the Arctic and waited to have east Indian food when I visited Anchorage. The alo paratha was delicious, alo gobi was perfectly spiced and the mango lassi was my dessert treat.
