Vietnamese crepe/pancake!!!!!!! Super duper gooooood And you must try that baked mussels, you won't regret it. We also had duck fried rice with curry sauce. They serve iced Thai tea and Thai coffee here. Very neat place to eat with friends and family. Will visit again haha

Love the Vietnamese food there. I usually order the large chicken noodle soup. Not ashamed to finish the soup with both hands to my face and slurp the tasty soup. :D Nice atmosphere. But busy during lunch time. Can order take out. I and friends dine in and take our time eating, discussing issues.

I have been here several times throughout the years and have never had a bad experience. They are one of the restaurants that I frequented for take-out during COVID closures to make sure they weren't going anywhere. The service is almost as good as their food, which is amazing! If you are unsure what to order, definitely get the spring rolls!

Super bummed . The broth on the beef pho was water with no flavor and the meat was pretty bad. I hate writing bad reviews truly but this was super disappointing. Pho is supposed to be a rich bone broth and I’m sick so really wanted some nutrition. The egg rolls were not good either .

If you like to eat Vietnamese food, you need to eat at Ray's Place. This time, I had the Spicy Duck Curry and my wife had the Lamb Noodle Curry. Two Yums-Up for both!

I had guests in town hankering for Vietnamese Food. Both are vegetarian (no fish sauce) and Ray's delivered!! I ordered the beef saute noodles and the ordered the Bahn mi (with Tofu) and the egg veggie crepe. The Bahn mi was so good they had to order a second one. The atmosphere was great and quiet so our group could actually chat. The parking lot is a little on the small side and could be bigger because this place can really sling the Vietnamese dishes. Wha a great place to bring guests. I have had take out from Ray's but I think eating in the actual place is so much better.

Before I even ordered, I knew I was going to enjoy the food. Here’s why: Upon entering, I saw the layout of the restaurant and loved it. You can tell that the owners are proud of their restaurant and Vietnamese culture. There are multiple paintings of Vietnam, figures, statues, books, and even plants. It also feels very homey, as if you walked into someone’s home, rather than a typical restaurant. I ordered the beef pho along with a fresh spring roll and it was fantastic. Very curious about the rest of their dishes!

I love this place so much! Go there hungry and early. Show up after 12:00 and you may be waiting to be seated. There’s parking on the side of the building, parking in front is usually full. “Grandma” is awesome and always takes care of the military folks. 6 stars!!!

We’re visiting from Boston - the Bahn Mi was soooo good! And the pho was amazing! So flavorful and the meat was so tender and delicious- the staff is friendly and service is quick. Highly recommend!

Very busy, pretty noisy, not enough seating. First trip there during a very busy lunch hour.Ordered lemon chicken & Thai iced tea. No where on the menu did it say that the dish was hot, not only cracked pepper but hot pepper flakes as well. Since I am sensitive to pepper flakes, I certainly did not enjoy the order, which looked fine, disbarring the red/black seasoning. Thank goodness for the Thai tea. Sat by myself at a table for 12 :(

This came highly recommend, specifically the curry halibut. Portion sizes were better than okay. I was expecting something much different with the curry halibut- no coconut milk with the curry. Instead it was deep fried halibut and an oily yellow curry sauce. Taste was very nice, but the grease didn’t sit in my stomach well. My boyfriend got the teriyaki chicken, which he was very excited about because I make something similar at home. While the chicken and vegetables were better than good, the sauce was like they literally just poured a bottle of teriyaki sauce over it after cooking, so the meal was sitting in a pool of it- strange and again, didn’t sit well. Also, the fresh spring rolls were more than a day old and just plain gross and lacking the cilantro and mint that tends to make the rolls aromatic and “fresh”. I wanted to order a bahn mi, but the sticker shock…I just couldn’t do it- bahn mi is half the price in the rest of the world.

If you're not eating at Ray's Place, you are doing a disservice to yourself. I struggle to choose between my two favorites every time I eat here: combination fried rice: no soggy bland rice here, only interesting flavors and textures. Or the spicy cashew chicken: little bit of jalapeno heat with cashews and the best stir fried veggies in town. Both dishes are so good that they get in the way of trying every single menu item because everything is amazing.

Delicious in every way! Vietnamese food that actually has flavor! Oh goodness and their fried rice with curry is divine. Never really had a favorite place but now I do. Staff on duty, when we went in, were so friendly and so welcoming even my teenager was impressed (this says a lot). The place settings are cozy and the servings are generous. I recommend Ray's place to anyone and everyone!

I am addicted to their ginger beef. It has actual pieces of fresh ginger in it, not just powder ginger flavor like some places use. The meat is tender, the veggies still have tooth to them and you can order your meal with brown rice. It is a family run establishment, they take pride in their product and it shows.

My favorite restaurant in Anchorage! I would recommend Ray’s to anyone under any circumstances. Love the family and love the food - my favorites include the curry tuna and the beef fried rice. Ray's Place has the best Vietnamese food (or food in general) in Alaska, by FAR. I've eaten food all over AK, from Ketchikan to Deadhorse, and I can confidently say that in the 6 years I've been dining here, I have never had a better meal anywhere else. Aside from the food just being excellent, it is consistent. Any place can make good food once, but consistency is key, and Ray's Place has it. Their hours are a little odd, but they are currently and have always been family-owned, so it's understandable. The food comes out quick, and the staff is always extremely friendly. They make you feel welcome in their restaurant, which pairs nicely with the classically warm, inviting atmosphere their dining room has. Whether you dine-in or take-out, I would highly recommend adding a bowl of their famous Combination Fried Rice to your order, or a plate of the Chicken Cold Noodle Salad. But whatever you order, you will NOT be disappointed!

Searching for Asian food in Anchorage is not an easy task and I often make the mistake of searching for the best version of a specific food that I'm craving instead of going for the best of what is offered at the spot. This place is the perfect example. In search of the best spicy pho I was lured to this place with stellar reviews. I ordered the bunbohue but didn't want to miss out on all the items the other reviews raved about and ordered them to go. The bun Bo hue was dissapointing, it doesn't resemble the authentic dish in any way, but that's my mistake not theirs. Instead, I should have just listened to everyone else's suggestions. Now I'm eating takeout and cold curry grilled halibut and combo fried rice and even cold, they are 5 stars. Imaging them freshly prepared and steaming, and I'm rdy to stuff more into my overfilled belly. Listen to the reviews, get the halibut, get the fried rice and keep coming back for more. What a superb find.

Finally got a chance to try it after years of wanting to. Went during lunch time, it was busy but not too crowded. Very pleasant, clean, relaxing atmosphere. Friendly, efficient service, very nice people - family owned and operated. Extensive menu of Vietnamese specialties, very fair and affordable pricing for Anchorage. I hope soon to try several, especially the cold noodle salads. Today I had the spicy chicken with cashews, which I am told is their most popular order. Boneless chicken thighs and vegetables in a delicate slightly-sweet sauce with sliced fresh jalapeños and cashew halves. Served with white rice, I found it quite delicious, and the serving for me was large enough to take half home for supper - bonus! My companions all seemed to enjoy their choices. I coveted someone's Vietnamese pork chops, another one I almost got today. I was very happy with my first visit to Ray's and I will make it a point to come back. I highly recommend!

I order Sweet and Sour Spare ribs because it literally falls off the bone and it sure does go well with my order of Combination fried rice. They don't offer to substitute white rice for combination fried rice so you'll have to order a plate of fired rice.

Best kept secret in Anchorage! Lived within walking distance of Ray's Place for years before we finally stopped in, can't believe how long we were missing out. So far have tried the Sweet & Sour Chicken, Lamb Curry, Spring Rolls, and some Pho, all phenomenal. Never waited more than 5-10 minutes for food (usually 2-3 minutes for Spring Roll Appetizer). The service is always prompt, polite, professional, the restaurant is clean, and most importantly the food is tremendous (and very reasonably priced). Highly recommend!

One of our fave places to eat. Fried rice is my go to. Trying their Pho today....haven't had it before I'm extra picky when it comes to Pho but Rays food is so good I doubt it will disappoint. The staff are always super friendly, fast service and they do awesome right how with social distancing for dine in due to covid-19. Hand SANATIZER is readily available to patrons also. Highly reccomend.....its hard to please me bgw.

This place was not what I expected from the look on the outside. Inside was very inviting and the staff was all very nice. I tried the ginger halibut there, and let me tell you, it was AMAZING!! that sauce was full of flavor that got my taste buds so excited, the crunchy bread coating on the halibut was just right adding to the multi-layer of flavors this dish had. I loved the combination rice! I ordered shrimp with vegetables and it had A LOT of dark brown overpowering liquid on it! It tasted too salty and it was hard to eat the veggies and shrimp. On the menu it said "Shrimp and vegetables" only. All the other options said if it had a sauce on it. There was no way I would have known it was going to be covered in Soy Sauce. They also said they added oyster sauce what if I'd had an allergy to oysters it wasn't listed on the menu.

The Chicken Vegetable Curry was awesome! The Curry had the perfect amount of depth to it. The portion was enough for 2 people. Usually I buy my Curry from other restaurants. I always find it watered down. NOT at Rays Place! I definitely will be returning for more!

What a gem! Best restaurant I've visited in Anchorage! This place is a must try! The food is phenomenal! So much flavor! And the service was perfection! We had the crispy garlic chicken and the seafood Pho. The chicken had amazing texture and the vegetables and sauce had layers of wonderful flavor. The soup was full of shrimp, octopus crab and chicken. It had deep rich flavors but was very clear and light. It reminded me of a Vietnamese seafood version of my grandma's chichen soup. I wish I could give Ray's place a 10 and not just a 5!!!! We'll be back again for sure before we leave town!!!!

Went there before, but we try ed to explain the way we wanted our soup as we wore told to on our last visit the waitress talked over us wouldn't listen was very tense there for a moment and was even threatened to be thrown out, then the owner came out and he listened to us , the soup was still not as ordered but felt we could not speak up about it. Will not ever go there again, or recommend to, spring rolls wore off to, bad day.

Phenomenal vietnamese food, menu has a great selection. All of the spring/egg rolls are great, every entree I have ever tried has been top notch. My family swears by the banh mi, but I haven't made it that deep into the menu yet. Portion sizes are large.

Ray's is my favorite restaurant in Anchorage. From really delicious beef soup (savory broth, rice noodles, bean sprouts, fresh herbs, thin slices of beef) to pork chops (with rice and vegetables, you get two lightly breaded chops...better be hungry), it's all good. They have a great vegetarian menu, too. A special treat is Duck Salad...but ask for the dressing on the side. Ray's is a family-owned restaurant...and lots of family work there. They always make me feel happy to be there.

I've been going to Rays for the last twenty years and I could not think of any better place in Anchorage. The Combination Rice is my favorite, Staff is excellent. Restaurant clean and cozy like family style. The only draw back is they are closed on Sundays.
