This place is something special. I have never been disappointed eating here. The shear variety will keep you coming back trying something new. The quality and quantity is sure to satisfy most. I tried the #39 Pho and loved it. I got the super bowl and have two days of dinner out if it. My go to spot for Pho thus far.

Good food, serious portions, beyond fair pricing. Expect it to be packed if you're near any socially normal eating time. Friendly staff, plenty of options. I'm doubting there's a wrong turn here. Personally i love the Thai places in old Pizza Hut dynamic. I would return, i will stuff myself, and i won't cry about it.

It looks a little run down on the outside but it's quite nice inside. The staff were very kind, greeted me and offered me a table. The options were fair, the prices were a little high for my liking, but I enjoy the meal of beef and meatball pho with an mango juice. Next time I'll have a veg curry.

Good price for good food. The soup was especially delicious. -1 star for the sesame chicken, it was incredibly dry and not very flavorful. Everything else was good though and the atmosphere was really nice!

Good Thai Food. My server didn’t pay enough attention to my request. I requested not to add bamboo shoots but they added bamboo shoots in my egg plant curry. Chicken Satay was delicious.

Let me start off by saying that Pho Lena on Spenars has been my favorite Thai restaurant in Anchorage for years - tons of delicious options with generous portion sizes. They are usually pretty reliable but my last visit was a big disappointment. I had called in my take-out order an hour ahead and told them the time that I'd like my food ready. When I arrived at the restaurant, they said that my order wasn't ready and asked if I could wait. I agreed, thinking that it might take another 5-10 minutes. Instead, I ended up waiting another 40 minutes while they repeatedly assured me that it was "almost ready." By the time I finally got my food, it was obvious that they hadn't even started my order until after I showed up. If you make a mistake, just be honest and up-front with your customers. I certainly would have preferred that to being strung along until my wife was late for work.

The Pad See ewe is excellent! Fresh, wide noodles. Got it with pork... delicious! Sizes are very generous here!! Every table I saw had something that looked amazing! Menu is extensive. Now... service was a small issue...we went at dinner rush...very packed and 1 waiter, and 1waitress.

I love 47. It is delicious soup! I would get it with beef or tofu. The crispy pork isn’t really crispy in the soup. The penang curry is good (eggplants are definitely al dente) but I prefer 47 (lao mae kah ti). The regular size is 2 meals for me.

We showed up just 3 but had 2 more going to arrive so they sat us at a table of 6 at 6pm. We ordered appetizers while waiting for our other party of 2 to join. The staff was very kind, I accidentally dropped my wallet out of my back pocket and my cash was on the floor to which the staff notified me quickly. In return, I noticed a purse hanging off a chair with an empty table and I notified staff and they mentioned the customer was in the bathroom, so I was happy the staff was aware. The food we ordered was delicious and well portioned. Definitely returning! Well within the budget! Thank you!

Staying in Anchorage for a few nights and wanted some good food to go. This was on the way to our hotel and was packed so we figured food must be good. Glad we stopped because the seafood pho was delicious! So flavorful and packed with seafood, noodles etc. Only issue we had was there was no where to sit while waiting for the food and they told us 10 minutes after ordering and paying that part of our order was not available. But they refunded our money for that portion.

One of the best bargains and quality in Anchorage for lunch. All the Curries are terrific and for $12, you get a hefty serving that comes with a cup of soup and a spring or fresh roll or small salad. The folks are nice and let me know if I want Thai hot, that is 8 chilis.

#72 Stir Fry Curry was pretty damn tasty... Curry was warm and subtlety sweet. the stir fry has crisp Japanese eggplant and button mushrooms that gave good texture, and (the best part) the perfect sticky white rice.

Sweet little place with good service despite being kickin’ busy, and food was delicious! Try the Thai Iced Tea, with sesame chicken and steamed potstickers! The Tom Kha pho is gooooood too.

Beautiful ànd delicious food! It's pretty popular during lunch hour. I would recommend going there after 1 pm. Don't order their special Lao drink, it's too sweet! Unless, you want a sweet drink. I twas VERY BUSYat lunch time! Overall food was great. That's my opinion. Service was very slow though. So recommending off busy times.

The Pho here was so good!! Tonight was our first time to enjoy Pho since our arrival three months ago! The food was delicious, the employees were kind and professional, and the atmosphere was full of comfort and warmth. This experience was very much needed after biking along the Seward Highway for 12 miles through the brisk wind and sporadic cold rain. We will be making this our permanent pho restaurant, because I don't honestly believe that we could find anything better somewhere else! The portions were so big I was able to save a large portion for a snack later in the evening! 😊

Had the yellow curry chicken. It was delicious! The house soup was great too except the chicken in it was dry... go figure! I love the fresh roll. In Arizona they call them spring rolls and they're nearly twice as big. It was my first time and I got it to go. Next time I'll dine in.

I always stop into Pho Lena when I’m in Anchorage. Only today did I realize they have oxtail pho and oxtail curry. I’m glad I tried it, but I will stick with the combo pho from now on; just personal preference for pho— I missed the tripe and rare skirt steak this time. The oxtail curry however is above and beyond any curry I’ve had before and I will be ordering it again and again.

Absolutely the best Thai/Laotian food in town. I’ve eaten here so many times I’ve probably paid for one of the their locations LOL. I wish Pho Lena opened a franchise around the USA, it’s that good. If you don’t like spicy food these are my favorites (gluten free too): chicken pad Thai, fresh rolls, beef sidewalk noodles with extra sauce and limes.

Deep, delicious menu. Enormous, stadium size bowls. (Actually, be careful. If you order the "Super Bowl," you'll get enough food for 5 or 6 people. ) Get the pho instead of the lunch specials. The Tom Yum broth will take you to a place you can't even dream of. I recommend the udon noodles.

Amazing food, fantastic staff, outstanding customer service. I've been an avid customer of theirs for over 6 years, when they were at their last location up the road. I have almost always been happy with what I order, and if there was anything ever wrong or not to my liking (2 times out of my many many trips) they immediately replaced it or comped it. I absolutely adore this place, and is always on my list of top restaurants to suggest to my friends who visit.

Tried the Panang red curry and it was good! The broth was superb- just the right spice to be flavorful but not “burn” your mouth (although they have chili to add in easy to-go cups to make it hot). The chicken and veggies were a little overdone but I ordered to-go- I will try the beef or shrimp next time! :-)

I've been eating there and ordering takeout for about a year now, and they never disappoint me. The pho is consistently delicious, so many options. Menu is huge, the apps are good, and the Vietnamese dishes are as well. Service is fast and friendly, even on the weekends which is the busiest time. Possibly the best series of restaurant experiences I've had anywhere. Don't be afraid to try new things on the menu!

Great food, excellent service. We went in 25 minutes before closing and they happily accommodated us. Portions are huge and tasted very authentic. I had the king crab and loved it. It was very succulent ,spicy as I had requested and melted in the mouth. We also got the yellow curry and basil noodles, they were great as well. We took a little longer to finish after their closing time, and they didn't push us at all. Staff were super friendly. I would go here again and try other others on their menu. They had good options from Vietnamese and Chinese cuisines as well.

A nice cozy place in classic Spenard with East Asian cuisine. The menu is massive, perfect for trying new tastes. Polite friendly simple service with an easy going attitude to match the good cozy atmosphere. My friend and I have said we'll keep coming back until we've tried everything on the menu. 5/5 for the Vegetarian Pho. Order curries without pumpkin if you want them spicy. This is a family owned business and the flavors are authentic. We went here for dinner on a weekend - it was busy and took some time to get our food. Highly recommend this place if you're in Anchorage and are craving Thai/Vietnamese food.

A Local Legend I’ve been going to this place since it opened in the old “The ____ ___hen” building. (That’s “The Chinese Kitchen”, but over the years all the lights burned out except for… well you get it). Though I was sad when “The hen” finally died, because their sweet and sour soup was the best anywhere, I soon forgot all of my lack-soup woes and also discovered that I can’t live without good handmade noodles. Pho Lena’s menu is massive and changing all the time. I find something new to try just about every time I go. (Though the rate of change has slowed a bit over the years, I think that just means they’ve started to settle on the really, really, really good stuff). I think my only complaint about the place is that they seem to have lost something subtle in their flavor as they have grown and expanded. I can’t place my finger on it. It might be the way they make their stocks, or maybe an ingredient they can’t always get. I don’t know. But it’s still so darn good that it keeps me coming back even with all the other Pho places in town these days. Pho Lena is amazing, with enough variety to please anyone.

I love this place, it's a gem. They have a diverse menu of all kinds of asian cuisine reasonably priced for Anchorage. The portions are medium to large. The building itself seems like it could have been an old Pizza Hut, it's friendly and unpretentious. The wait staff is polite, but not overly friendly, but honestly they don't really need to be. It's never affected my dining experience negatively. The food is delicious, they're open fairly late. They can accommodate groups and kids, but is also a great place for one on one dining. This place is in my top three go-to restaurants in Anchorage; and that's saying something, since I feel through both my business and personal experiences I've visited near all the restaurants available.

I've eaten at their new Spenard location twice, and their former location several times. Every meal has been a positive experience. The combination of flavors, meats and veggies leaves me feeling well nourished, usually with some leftovers to enjoy again later. The super bowl size is a great value.

Their lunch specials are a really good deal and delicious, they have really unique and flavorful pho that definitely hits the spot, it’s probably one of my favorite places for pho in town! They are always super crowded as the place is really popular, and the service is sometimes a bit odd or confusing, but the food is prepared quickly and it’s always delicious. I've eaten here dozens of times. Sometimes I spend ten minutes going through every item on the menu, and sometimes I pick a number at random. Either way, Pho Lena has never let me down. Favorites include pho with ox tail and the Lao Pumpkin and Coconut. Prices are fair, service is fast, and quality is always on point.

I'm giving Pho Lena five stars today not completely because of the taste of their food, but because of their helpfulness and one young lady with a short hair bob like hairstyle that allowed me to order my food over the phone before I arrived at the Spenard location for my one hour lunch from Bailey's Furniture Store, even though she stated they are no longer allowed to do so. She gave me this one time pass. This was the first time I have ever eaten at Pho Lena's, however I was given one single bit of my brother's chicken fried rice about a week ago and I needed some of my own. So I arrived and ordered shrimp fried rice, beef and broccoli (came with steamed rice), and a thai tea to go. Guys, the portion for $11.95 (B&B) and $14.95 (SFR) was so large that I was able to eat some at their location and brought it home from work and fed my husband, my teenage son, and myself with my leftovers. I wish I wasn't in such a rest and had asked the young lady's name. She was extremely helpful once I got there as well. The only thing that I feel was a negative was that the location was extremely outdated, dingy and crowded. My glass wasn't very clean on the outside either, but hey we will all die from something someday so who cares, just finger prints. Also the B&B tasted like there was no seasoning of any kind (still tasted like beef though 😂🤣😂, and my order wasn't ready until 45 minutes later (had to rush back to work)! So thank you Pho Lena for a decent first experience and I look forward to trying the rest of your menu.

If you are in Anchorage, Alaska, you have got to come experience this Vietnamese and Thai food. Disregard the casual decor; this is amazing, has large portions, and is very inexpensive compared to other food in town. The pho soup and yellow curry was so fresh and tasted like home cooked authentic cuisine.

Service was okay. Food was tasty but they forgot potatoes, which were supposed to be part of the dish I ordered. More vegan options would be appreciated. Like something with a variety of vegetables that doesn't have coconut in it? A lot of the vegetarian options were only a couple vegetables.

No brainier, Pho Lena is definitely an eatery we go to eat, just about every single time we are in Anchorage. The food is excellent, the service is great, each and every single time we've been to Pho Lena's. Go, try it out, it's possibly the best pho on the planet. I love Pho Lena's new spot across from Tap Root. It's much bigger than the little building they had on the corner by REI, and seats a lot more people! It has a ton of windows, so it's also a lot brighter. The parking is bigger as well, but tends to get full before the restaurant does. I'm firmly convinced that Pho Lena has the best pho in Anchorage....yes, better than Ray's or Pho Vietnam. They also have delicious Thai curries, spring rolls, and bahn mi. They have hot chili oil (fairly standard) and crispy fried garlic (a rarity) at each table. The garlic alone would probably make it worthwhile, but the broth their pho is served in is transcendent. It is the best I've ever had. Their standard pho bowl is easily large enough to split between two people or have delicious leftovers later on. Eat here! You (and your wallet) will not regret it!

i'll start by apolagizing for my spelling and grammer i just dont care about it.....pho lena is my favorite thai resturaunt in anchorage i have eaten there 3-4 time a month for over a year the food is super fresh tasting fast and always enough for two meals and im not a light eater. they have a very large menu and its kind of overwhelming i have tried many things on the menu and only 2 dishes i did not like. ive been getting the same thing there ffor about 3 months and it is still delicious the number 44 (i think its 49 at the northway location) but its a coconut and peanut pho and it is just to die for i can not reccommend this place enough
