Beautiful cozy Mexican restaurant with tasty dishes. They provide complementary corn chips with salsa. Portion size is generous and good service too! I must say this has a great ambiance and reasonable price. Only thing was that our order was delayed a lot and we ended up eating the 2 baskets of chips before food arrived. Definitely recommend!

El jefe was AMAZING! Their steak has a nice smokey flavor that melts in your mouth. Their beans and rice are delicious! I love their enchiladas too. What makes it even more of my favorite is their top notch customer service because they show they care and they're nice people. The most friendly staff who care about the food and what they do 🥰

The margaritas were really good. I ordered Birria tacos but I did not get what I was expecting. The tacos come with tortillas that are unfried and without any consommé to dip in. I asked the hostess about It and they said this is just their version. They did make the situation right and overall I left happy and buzzed.

My search for the best Mexican food just ended-…in Anchorage if all places! Terrific service! Perfectly cooked, home made, fabulous food. The chicken was perfectly cooked- not dried like often happens, the sauce was fabulous. We cleaned our plates. I wish I could move this restaurant 3,000 miles to the east.

This place has the absolute best Mexican food in anchorage! Our server was Carmen and she was an absolute joy and made the entire experience so wonderful, and is as sweet as can be. Everything from the service to the food is just so good. Their cheese enchiladas and their hot salsa are to die for. I won't ever go to another Mexican restaurant again TRY THEM!

My husband and I just had the most amazing lunch here! The staff was beyond friendly, the food was phenomenal and so were the drinks! My husband had the chimichanga with a margarita and I had the aculpulco enchilada with a glass of chardonnay. I didn't finish my lunch and got it to go. I asked if it was possible to get extra sauce, the waitress asked the cook, and sure enough they whipped up some extra sauce for me. We'll definitely be back in the future and will rave about them to our friends! Thank you to all the staff!

Great Mexican food! Have been up here for a few years and missed our easily accessible Mexican food in CA. This place has given me renewed hope of getting good Mexican food. We ordered a LENGUA and AL PASTOR Burritos. Both had great flavor. The lengua was not dried and was tender. The Pastor was very flavorveble delicious. We also ordered carnitas tacos and plain quezadillas. Which all tasted great. Will definitely come back!

Best Mexican restaurant in Anchorage. (And there are a LOT to choose from, so that's not an empty claim.) Great cultural vibe and excellent decor. Friendly service. Lots of space for social distancing. Truly friendly server, and super accommodating. For families: great kids meal options at very reasonable rates. (That's big deal when dining with kids.)

Finally, amazing authentic Mexican food in AK! The shrimp diablo was exactly what I had in mind and even exceeded my expectations. The chicken mole enchiladas were very good as well. The sopapillas were the only thing that was not as I had pictured, they were dense dough covered in cinnamon and sugar instead of the hollow ones I'm used to. I did not come for dessert though, so I'm very happy and will be back!

In a land filled with only ground beef and chicken, and a seeming monopoly on Mexican food by a man who refuses to even pronounce his own name correctly, there stands El Dorado. I'm originally from here, but I've spent a while outside and married into a Mexican family. The beans here certainly aren't my mother in laws, but theyr easily the best I've had in the state. And the meats. How cow, not only has the cow not been through a grinder, it's not seasoned with just grocery store taco seasoning. They have al pastor! Oh my God I love al pastor, and El Dorado's does not disappoint. Even the salsa! Normally I'll take the spicy salsa because the mild is so bland... guys, I barely touched spicy while I was devouring the mild it was so tasty. So in conclusion, even if the price scares you off a little (I mean, it is a liiittle higher than other Mexican places around), go anyways, it's well worth it.

Was greeted & seated promptly. They give you an option of old or hot salsa, we had the mild and it was fresh and tasty. I ordered the seafood chimichanga (scallop, shrimp & halibut) and it was DELICIOUS! Would definitely recommend and come back again.

I skipped Lunch and was super hungry by 6:00PM. Left from hotel and decided to go here as I saw good rating and I see why it has such a good rating. The ambience was good and the hostess, Martha was always smiling and made sure I enjoyed my food. I was surprised to see a separate Veggie menu as not many restaurant in Anchorage area has separate veggie menu. The chips and salsa was good and their IPA was amazing as well. The veggie fajitas tasted really good. I will be in town on a regular basis and this will be my visit every time I visit.

The enchiladas acapulco are seriously the best Mexican food I've ever had. Beautiful restaurant! Try the seafood enchiladas, I promise you will not regret it. The chicken chipotle is amazing as well.

Wonderful Mexican restaurant! Homemade chips and salsa to start. The mole on my enchiladas was spectacular, even the Spanish rice was some of the best I've ever tried. Great service in a tastefully themed space. Priced to it's quality, seriously good food.

AMAZING food. I was really happy with my food it was awesome. There were some very... Interesting aspects about the restaurant. Kind of a kitchy atmosphere with the Christmas decorations being a huge contrast to the rest of the decor. The margarita glasses were wiped with that I can only assume was a very dirty bar rag because our glasses smelled of literally wet rag. And some of the staffs attire seemed a little unprofessional. All in all, it seems like a 1-2 star restaurant with an amazing chef. I'll be back for the food but not much else 😅

It was a bit pricey, pretty much any dinner plate is $20+ unless you do the combination option. BUT, it was actually super good, high quality food. All of the employees were super friendly and attentive despite being really busy. Best Mexican restaurant I’ve found so far in Anchorage.

I really enjoyed the food. I got the pollo fundido and it was delicious. They gave generous portions of everything except the sides. I got double beans and no rice and it looked like they scooped up a large spoonful of beans with a regular cereal spoon lol. The staff is super nice and friendly, which is always very important to me. But the bill hurt my feelings lol.

Born & raised in Texas & have lived in AZ for the last 20 years and this was some of the best Mexican food I've ever had. I had the "El Jefe" (Carne asada, cheese enchilada, rice & beans + corn tortillas) - amazing! My wife had the carnr adobada burrito & it was good. Not too spicy & good flavor. My brother in law had the fajitas for one & loved them - " the meat was really tender & flavorful". Never considered getting Mexican food in Alaska, but after a couple weeks of seafood, we thought we'd take a chance on other "yelpers" and found this gem.

Everything from the service to the food was absolutely phenomenal! The gentleman at the front desk gave top-notch customer service. This makes me want to never go to another Mexican restaurant because this place is so good. I feel like this is the only place in town that actually seasons their chicken. One of the best Mexican restaurants I’ve been to in a long time. Got taken by a friend who’d been, and knew Ramon. Sat down and was told “just order ‘Ramons Tacos’” and so I did. Ramon did not disappoint. Three amazing variety tacos, and Ramon himself was awesome. Absolutely will be returning.

Gem and staple in Anchorage! Relaxing and friendly atmosphere where the owners and staff members get you at the door. The restaurant has a beautiful and decorative layout that matches their menu as well. Their salsa's are full of flavor, all their tacos are amazing and fresh to order, and the draft Modelo and Pacifico beer in a frosty mug is so good!!

Stopped for Father's Day and got in right before the dinner rush. First time trying and it was a fairly standard menu so came down to execution and service. Service was prompt and looked to be a shared duty among everyone, so lots of attention. Each was helpful and friendly. Tried 2 of my favorites- Chipotle Chicken and a Chile Relleno. The chicken had great flavor, with lots of onion and mushroom, a little drier than I would like, but that's a nit pick. The Relleno was nicely char-grilled before it was stuffed and cooked. Can't remember the last time I saw that, so was liking that. Also had a traditional margarita w Don Julio Anejo, rather than the well brand and it was worth the upsell. The usually basic rice and beans had more flavor and depth than many of the places around town. At the end, the Mrs and I both agreed we'll definitely be back.

Super happy with my decision to deliver from them. Near the hotel I was at, so super quick and fresh food for me. Got the El Jefe dinner. Steak was perfectly cooked, plenty of rice and beans. Only complaint I'd have is the cheese enchilada was lost on the plate and just mush by the time I found it. Also got a chicken enchilada ala cart and it was big and awesome. Whole order came with chips, salsa, guac, and warm tortillas. Lots of food for the price and tasty.

This is a beautiful restaurant with friendly staff. Excellent service and tasty food. It is also reasonably priced. I had a chicken chimmichanga and a tamale with refried beans and Spanish rice, topped with guacamole and sour cream. I saved half for dinner tonight and splurged on fried ice cream, which was amazing! I recommend this restaurant!

Met my husband there for lunch, so it needed to be quick. They're service was friendly and fast. Portion size was good for the price and for lunch. I will definitely go back, maybe for dinner so I can try a margarita!

I actually thought the bartender was the owner because he took ownership of serving/helping me and I think they are doing this because they are a new restaurant and they are really trying to promote themselves. However I hope they keep up the attitude. unfortunately because they are a new restaurant and the idiots in government who control the liquor license haven't granted them a full liquor license yet, you can't order something like a margarita with your dinner. I really feel sorry for new restaurants who try to make a success and better the economy. But I'm really glad that big brother watches over all of us and imposes morality upon all of us, because I myself and a f****** idiot and pretty sure I wouldn't be make rational decisions for myself. Other than that I wouldn't discount this place and I would give us a try.

While visiting Anchorage, we ordered from here twice. First time was delivery to our hotel, 2 separate orders, 9 people. I was unable to get through on the phone for the longest time, and no one responded to my Facebook messages (not that unexpected). Once I finally got through, the guy on the other end was a little short-spoken as I tried to get information. He even said "Don't worry - this is what we do" then proceeded to misunderstand my order. Once he stopped and listened, however, it became more clear to him. I requested cutlery and napkins, as we we at a hotel, and he said no problem, it would be all in one of the orders. The order arrived, without cutlery and napkins, and when I checked the other order, they only had enough for themselves. The items were also mixed up, unlabeled, and pretty much smashed together. For these reasons, I take off one star. They get 4 stars for 2 reasons. First, they food was phenomenal, and we have eaten Mexican food from below the 28th to above the 49th parallels, so we know good Mexican food when we eat it! This is why there is a second reason, and a second visit! We did a smaller take out order, and when I mentioned the previous issues, the amigo was muey helpful, making sure that the order was perfecto. There is always room for improvement, but you do not need to change the food, maybe just the containers they come it.

Like the name, this restaurant truly is a Mexican food gold mine. Our cheeky waiter Ramon kept our group truly entertained while we waited for our stellar meal. The sopapilla dessert was the sombrero on the matador! Pro Tip: the menus are in English and easy to understand. If you still don't understand, Ramon will speak very slowly in the same way that an American would speak to a non English speaking Mexican.
