This is the OPPOSITE of GC Realty - I have had a wonderful experience from the start. Mark A (owner) came out and met with me on two separate multi-family deals before I even brought them on - he has deep knowledge on Chicagoland, investing, and everything real estate. Kyle H. manages the day to day on two of my properties and he is phenomenal - super responsive, proactive, and thoughtful in his approach. 8/17/19 Review update: A year+ later, I've been working with my property manager Tariq. Tariq is definitely a diamond in the rough. And I do mean that literally and figuratively, in terms of the ROUGHNESS of the neighborhood(s) in which my propertys' are located and the expert skill required to oversee and property manage them. I have hit a lot of rough patches and challenges dealing with the properties, the tenants, and last but not least...the not so-forgiving City of Chicago (don't get me started here). Although my luck and obstacles from property ownership has been challenging and less than ideal for me, Tariq has been reliable, on the ball, and has been quick to go to bat for me in terms of working with his management team to make sure I am getting taken care of and stay 'in the loop' with things. For this reason, I am still confidently happy in my decision to stay with GC despite the difficulty it has been in owning rental propertes in Chicago. I seldom if ever write Google reviews or reviews of anything for the matter, but it would be a great disservice to Mark and his hard-working team at GC Realty if I didn't share this honest review with the Google world. I've held 10 units across 4 properties in Chicago as investment properties from a 'turn-key' provider who was anything but turn-key. This company utilized every tool under their belt to convince me to stay them, with empty promises that their systems would improve, their staff would shape up, and the property would be stabilized and perform. About 3 years and tons of repairs, vacancies, city issues, and deferred maintenance later, I'm reduced to shambles and only 2 out of my 10 units are effectively collecting rent. My rental properties have grown to be a source of frustration, anger, and bitterness. I lost trust and respect for my property managers. When I spoke with Mark many months prior, he impressed me by taking immediate action the very next day he helped me by driving by the property on his own, to see that the property was not only unsecured by my current 'property management' but that the walls were gutted, mold damage was abundant, and sewage was seeping everywhere. He walked through the filthy putrid muck himself JUST so he could record a detailed video and commentary to send to me. This is BEFORE I even committed to asking him for his professional services or provided any form of monetary payment. Finding my property in this condition, as you can guess, was my worst possible nightmare that would have been averted with a responsible management team. Let this be a lesson to you out there, that TRUST and RESPECT are earned, never demanded. That very day, Mark's actions spoke far louder than any other words my past PM has been promising for the past 3 years. He earned my trust and my respect, as well as my business. I have a long, arduous road ahead of me, but I'm doubtlessly confident that Mark and his team will handle the situation with ownership and care, and diligence and communication that I've been desperately devoid of with my current management team. Do yourself a favor and please consider Mark's team at GC Realty, they'll keep it real and won't sugar coat things unnecessarily and throw out false promises, but will also take care of you like family.
