We closed yestreday on our new home in Baltimore's Federal Hill neighborhood, an old historic row home blocks from the Inner Harbor. Before connecting with Jim and his team at Cummings & Company realty, my wife and I were navigating the uncertain seas of trying to buy a 150+ year old home through whatever we could gleam from Zillow or other websites. After reading good reviews, we came to them with our list, and realized pretty quickly the value that someone who has lived in neighborhoods like those in SoBo brings to the process when trying to find a new old home for your family. Each home is like a page in a story, with things that connect them to all the other homes, but full of those subtle little details that help toward determining which house is best, knowing that whichever one you choose is always the best one for you. After a long morning of hiking through the streets of federal Hill, we stopped by a home that wasn't on our initial list, but Jim kept telling us it would be a perfect fit. And sure enough, he was right. It was the last house we looked at, and the one we put the contract on that afternoon. Jim's an excellent listener, and I think that's what made him so sure of the additional choice he brought to our own list. In addition to listening, we're deeply thankful for Jim working hard throughout the process to make sure everything went smoothly, like when our inspector had to back out at the last minute. He made some calls, and we were able to still meet the deadlines and even negotiate some money back after the inspection was complete. We were also thankful that Jim could tie us into other local service providers in and around SoBo, from Tammy at FedHill Mortgage, the team at Broadview Title, and even the principal at our boys' new school.
