While Travis certainly has all the real estate expertise you could hope for, what really sets him apart is his deep knowledge of everything that it actually it takes to make a good land purchase or sale. We worked with Travis to buy our "dream" land and his abilities and care for us as buyers were demonstrated every step of the way. From the original showing, where he showed up with topographical maps and a full knowledge of the specific property, to traipsing through the woods with us so we could fully view the land, to the eventual navigation of closing logistics, we could not have been more pleased with all the help that Travis gave us. Before we bought our house in Asheville, we took a good amount of time to familiarize ourselves with the market. That meant calling a lot of listing agents to set up viewings of their properties. Most real estate agents we talked to seemed more interested in recruiting us as buyers than actually selling the houses they had listed. That was not the case with Chris Smith. He was straight forward and honest from the beginning, doing a great job of representing his seller while also being of great assistance to us as potential buyers. He didn't try to sell his services, but instead focused on doing quality work. So, when we finally saw a house we were interested in, we called him to ask for his help because we appreciated his no non-sense style and low pressure approach. He walked us through the process on a couple potential homes including an offer to the landlord we were currently renting from always being reasonable in the nuts and bolts of our arrangement. Chris was easy to work with on the houses we wanted to look at and had a good feel for the type of property we were interested in. We never felt pressured or that the driving force of our relationship was the commission at the end. When we finally found the house that was right for us, the entire team at Modern Mountain went out of their way to help us with our process. Joe Butzer and Jason Morgan in particular stepped it up to assist as needed. At the end of the day, what I appreciated most about Modern Mountain Real Estate is that they struck the perfect balance on how much assistance I was looking for. They respected the research I had prior (I do data analytics as a career), while also providing their own insights. I never felt I was being bombarded with irrelevant information, but they were always there when I had a question. We never felt pressure to move forward on something we weren't comfortable and it never felt like Chris (or any of the other agents) were driven by anything other than helping us find a solid home that met our criteria. Chris Smith is an exceptional agent and advocate. He works harder than any buyer's agent I've ever hired. Chris is responsive. He got me in to see properties quickly, and he usually responded to calls/texts/emails within minutes. Chris saved me time by looking at the properties himself to confirm they met my criteria before forwarding only qualifying properties to me. Chris was diligent. We shopped for close to a year. During that time, Chris was never annoying or pushy. I appreciated receiving the leads, and he adjusted the frequency of them based on my preferences. Chris went above and beyond. When we finally found a house worth buying, Chris was the first to point out that it likely needs a new roof. But he didn't stop there. On his own and without my asking, Chris met five different contractors at the property and then sent me roofing estimates for each of them. I can't say enough good things about Chris. He is fantastic.

As our buyers agent, he was professional, responsive, tech savvy and thorough. Travis went above and beyond to make our complex purchase go smooth, and no detail ever even had a chance of falling through the cracks. He even uncovered errors that the selling agent made. What I love most about him is that he is also an amateur cartographer, so he was able to map and rough survey various properties, enabling us to view them with custom detail on google earth and an app that he developed. It made looking at various features of the landscape easy and walking the property lines with the app, made sure we knew exactly what we were buying.
