I had a clogged garbage disposal, and I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing after doing a quick google search. Kayla, the receptionist, was very informative and friendly when making my appointment. Colby came out to make the repairs, and he was on time and very communicative. He was open and honest upon arrival about what the issue may be and possible price options. He kept me updated while making the repairs and how things may affect price. He also made sure to provide a full update after the repairs were completed, what he could and could not guarantee and what he would charge if it isn't fixed and needed to come out again. Very professional service at a fair price! Will use this plumbing service again.

The technician was great! I was having issues with extremely slow drainage in a couple of drains and he was able to clear them. I just wish they could have given me an idea over the phone what certain services would cost based on the issue I described. They charge by the job, not by the hour. And they charge a dispatch fee just for someone to show up. It ended up costing me more than twice as much as a local plumber that had quoted me an hourly rate.

My water heater started to go out Wednesday. Thursday morning they came out to give me a quote and I replaced it with a new tankless water heater. Friday they worked through the day to get it installed. The technicians did a great job and left the area nice and neat. I would definitely use them again in the future for my plumbing needs :).

I had a small slow leak onto my kitchen ceiling from my shower which is above it. I called Benjamin Franklin yesterday and they came today. Cameron was able to determine exactly where the leak was coming from and repaired it in a timely manner. He explained everything and showed me what exactly was happening. He had a helper who I believe was learning . They both were very professional and respectful. They did a great job.

Unfortunately my pipes froze overnight and then when they thawed out a leak started. I realized the leak was coming from the water meter between 2 pipes so I called Artesian and they came out that day to replace the meter. After that was fixed I developed another leak in one of the attached pipes. I called Benjamin Franklin and because of the holiday and lots of other people having the same problem, it took 3 days to send someone to my house but I was able to turn off the water valve so no more leaking. Carlos Z was the technician who came to my house and he found the problem very quickly and was so nice and friendly. He replaced the broken pipe quickly and I'm so happy to have running water again. The price wasn't bad at all and I'm very happy with this business. I especially like that they texted me Carlos's name and picture so I knew who to expect since I live alone. I'll definitely use them again and highly recommend them!

Last night, all my downstairs sinks clogged. I was hoping they would drain overnight, but no such luck. I called Ben Franklin at around 6 a.m., explained the problem, and the technician, Nic, was here around 10 am. He had to work hard to get that drain unclogged, but he stuck to what he had quoted me and cleaned up after himself (I was grateful). I have used Ben Frankling for years, and they are always my first call when I have plumbing issues!

Austin G. installed my new whole-house Brita Pro water filter. He is excellent! The installation was complicated since my HVAC system and water supply piping are integrally connected. To connect the filter required installation of several fittings and quite a bit of added piping. In addition, he identified a small leak at the intake valve and repaired it in the process of installing the water filter. He was a total pro, efficient and capable, completing the work in a few hours. Austin kept me informed throughout and is such a pleasant person to deal with. The finished job looks great,. Best of all, my water tastes great. Clean and fresh! I’m excited also to be rid of the stains in my sinks caused by the iron oxide we get in our water. All in all, a very successful day!

Now that I have insurance with Artesian Water company, AND I have American Home Shield, I see no need to keep BF. I will be canceling my account.

The service was fast and well done. I do regret most likely getting the technician's name wrong because the name I remember wasn't listed. My name isn't actually Smythril. It's an old gaming handle. Google just doesn't seem to let me use my real name for some reason. I'm actually John Stapleford. There was a very small problem with the toilet a couple of weeks later. Colby came out and fixed it with very little wait and no drama. The entire thing was under warranty and he left the room looking better than it did when he arrived. Unfortunately, I still do not have access to the spelling of the first gentleman who installed the toilet and garbage disposal. I couldn't be happier with their work and was discussing using the company again with my wife.

Carlos notified me when he would arrive and he arrived on time. There were two repairs: one an installation and one a repair. Carlos took the time to explain the repairs and what he needed to do. There was a slight problem during the installation of the outside faucet (no fault of Carlos'), but he handled this to my complete satisfaction. The other faucet repair took some adjustments, but again he did the job very professionally. This is the first time I used Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and I would use them again.

Sean M called to ask if I could allow him to come earlier than my appointment time. I was very happy to have him come earlier. He was courteous, professional, respectful of my property, knowledgeable and very pleasant. He set to work as soon as he had assessed my problem and received my permission, and acceptance of a relatively reasonable price. Sean M unclogged two drains, and cleaned up afterward. The cost of $667 seems very high for the service required, however I don't know how it compares to other plumbing service companies as I've not required the services of a plumber enough to compare. We had a refrigerator ice maker supply line leak at the basement saddle valve as well as in the plastic supply tube one floor above. Forrest replaced the old leaking saddle valve in the basement with the proper ball valve, and the plastic tube supply line with copper line and reconnected the line to the refrigerator. He is very pleasant and professional, and receptive to questions and educating the homeowner. I only have compliments for Forrest.

Forrest was pleasant, professional and fixed the leaking pipe very quickly. The price seemed fair although I did not shop around due to the $39.00 service fee. I also appreciate that the work is guaranteed. My tenant was waiting so I called Ben Franklin and they came out the same day surveyed the problem then came back there next day to fix it and low and behold the problem was not what it was initially thought to be and was a minor fix instead of not telling me and charging me for a service I didn't need they called and let me know and I was extatic about the honesty, and integrity of the worker and the company. On Saturday, 6/13/20, dirty water started coming up out of the drain in my basement floor. When I flushed the toilet, I realized we had big trouble on our hands. I called Benjamin Franklin Plumbing and took advantage of their $99 clean one drain special (with dispatch fees it was $134). Sean had to snake the drain almost 80 feet to the street before the clog finally broke apart. After that it was only a few minutes before I could use any toilet, sink, washing machine, dishwasher. I have 2 cats and having nasty sewer water on my basement floor was not an option. Sean was in the area and arrived 20-30 minutes after I placed the call. I can't thank him enough for his professionalism, quick response and solving my problem! I never had the sewer back up in this house, and I've lived in it for 28 years. Now I know who to call if I have plumbing problems in the future!

I did not quickly tell him no. Actually, I politely sat down with him in my home, went over pricing, I did brief research while he was still there, listened to him give me options about financing and actually applied to one of the companies he told me about. After all that, I asked him if I could think about it. Which I did, and when I reached out to my brother who is also a professional and would know right away if the quoted price was reasonable or not, he told me it was a huge waste of money. I would have had him do it in the first place, except he lives two hours away, so he isn’t the first person I call, only the person I call after I feel I am not being offered a fair price to fix something because I know he will not take advantage of me. Also - I didn’t need a plumber to come out to tell my brother what was wrong, *I* wanted to know what was wrong of course, so I could figure out the best route in order to fix the problem without spending thousands, especially as a new homeowner *and* as a woman. One of the biggest red flags was when I was told I need a “special” tank, when the same tank that was in my crawl space was at Lowe’s for the standard “non-special” price. Also, to anyone reading this — how a company responds to reviews that aren’t of high praise says a lot about them. I have posted unsatisfactory reviews where the company replied to apologize, offer an explanation in a professional way, that didn’t tell me my experience with them was wrong, and instead said they hope we can work together again in the future. That’s the kind of company that deserves a person’s business, even after a negative experience. I’m happy to say I wound up finding an amazing plumber local to where I live that always charges me very reasonable prices, no hidden fees, or “all inclusive pricing,” they can actually send me an invoice with a breakdown of my charges, they simply charge hourly fees for their labor because I supply the parts (I always appreciate a company that is ok with me buying my own materials), and they also guarantee their work. And did I mention this is a master plumber? And I say all this because it’s important to note that “all inclusive pricing” is not typical or what you should expect when hiring someone to do a job, especially one that is going to cost that much money. I personally feel that any honorable company is going to be able to tell you how much you are paying in labor, how much in parts, and whatever other expenses there are. They might not be able to do that on the spot, but could at least say “sure, let me get back to you once I figure it all out.” And if they can’t do that, I would look for a company that can. (Original Review) The man who came to check out my problem knew what was wrong, he came out quickly, but I paid extra for that too. The problem is how much he quoted me to do the work. It was insanely overpriced. I needed to have my pressure tank replaced. I was quoted about $1700. The pressure tank was $150 to replace. And then some pipes needed replaced, all the supplies totaled up to about $300. So $1400 labor? It took the person I had a few hours to replace it. I was also told that I would need a “special” size pressure tank due to my crawl space. It was no special size. I bought it right at Lowe’s, and it didn’t cost me any extra. When I asked about a breakdown of the quota, he couldn’t give that to me. Said it was an “all inclusive” kind of thing. It bugged me, as if I wasn’t going to do my own research before committing to paying that much money. I paid a little over $500 total by having someone else do it. Definitely makes me apprehensive about calling this place for another quote ever again.

I have a house built in 1953 and the pipes are cast iron. The toilet began slipping and sliding around and I decided that all I needed was to tighten the bolts. Boy was I wrong, turns out the entire flange had rusted into red goo and rust flakes. I called to get some help and they quickly set me up with Forrest. Friendly, timely and understanding he put up with my barrage of questions and granted me an understanding of everything I felt I needed to know. Due to my lack of understanding there was additional work that needed to be done. He called his boss and came back with a solution and implemented it swiftly and efficiently. John N. arrived early in the time frame we were given, quickly assessed the problem, had to go to get some item(s) to remedy the situation, and returned to quickly solve the problem -- all the while answering myriad questions from my 5-year-old grandson. I used Benjamin Franklin plumbing to replace an old cement utility tub that was clogged and the spigot leaking. I also had a new toilet installed in my powder room and had a new knob installed and a leak repaired in my main bathroom along with snaking the drain. Brian Booth and another employee whose name I do not know completed all the work in a professional manner and took all the old stuff away.
