The Pipe Doctor was incredible. We had an urgent request after 5 PM on a weekday and had Owen there within 20 minutes of calling and had the water running again within a couple hours of calling. Our main water supply valve broke while the water supply to the house was off. Owen could not have been more professional and even took the time to explain things to us and even make professional recommendations on shower fixtures, which was not even why he was there. Solid, professional, knowledgeable company. They did an outstanding job cleaning and relining our entire sewer line in a 130-year-old house in Old Town Alexandria. Gary explained everything, recommended the best approach, gave a fair estimate then did exactly what he said they would do and repaired our system much to our relief. Our sewer pipe clogged. Had it cleaned and inspected by another company and was shown the main pipe had broken. The pipe was located directly below our front concrete and brick stairs. The Pipe Doctor was the ONLY company that said they would try to repair the pipe without damaging the stairs. Others wanted to break up/remove the stairs which would have doubled the cost of the repair. We contracted for a repair of the broken pipe and re-lining the pipe (a process called CIPP). They arrived on the agreed date, dug beside the stairs, tunneled under and fixed the pipe. No damage to our stairs. On the second day, they re-lined the pipe from the house to the street. We then added re-lining from the remainder of the pipe (under the street) to the county sewer. To avoid spending more time, they brought in a second crew and worked longer to fill the trench, re-pour the sidewalk, and finish the preparation work for the next day. On the Third day, they arrived when promised and finished the job. We only had to avoid using the drains in our house for a few hours each day. Things that were very positive: 1. We got to work with the owner when estimating the job. 2. Everyone who worked here was polite and considerate. 3. The excavation was the minimum needed to get the job done. 4. They answered all questions that I and my neighbors had with clearly and completely. 5. The provided options and described benefits and possible issues very clearly. We would use them again.

I really appreciated the professionalism of James, Chad, and the rest of the team from Pipe Doctor. They arrived exactly when they said they would, they completed the work (excavation and replacement of our sewer lateral from city sewer all the way to main sewer stack in basement) earlier than expected (it was a big job and I was shocked at how fast they were able to complete it but I think this was because they arrived early and were hustling pretty much the entire time over four days), they were always so polite and willing to answer my many questions, their work was excellent (I especially appreciated the water line being run such that there is no bump-out in the basement), and they left the space as they found it which is saying a lot given the amount of digging and jackhammering they needed to do. I also appreciated the work of Adam and Gary who initially came out to look at the project. In contrast to a few others who had seen the piping, they were able to immediately identify the pipe material from the camera inspection; I could tell that they had seen many, many pipes and were experts.

I called the Pipe Doctor in September 2022 for a clogged tub drain. They were responsive in coming out the next day. They charged $312 to run a snake to clear the drain. The price seems high but I suspect it is comparable to other plumbers in the area. (My wish is that people would list the cost of the service in the review so a person can have an idea of the cost before they come out). They did a good job clearing the drain. 2 things concerned me: 1. The price quoted was the cash price if you paid by either cash or check. They did not disclose this upfront but only after the service is done. OK if they pass some of the savings on to you but I am not sure if they do this or not. 2, The plumber was a bit of a smart aleck. The 3 stars reflect the above concerns and the price for the service that I guess is average for this area. Overall they did a good job with the cleaning.

I’ve called Pipe Doctor a handful of times now, and have only the highest of praise for them. The guys who come out are honest and hardworking and I’ve never felt like they’re trying to upsell me on anything. We even called recently to have our garbage disposal fixed and Owen called before showing up. He told us that, while he would be glad to come and fix it, he felt as if it was something we could figure out and he didn’t want us wasting money by calling him out. He was absolutely right, we fixed it, and I have a ton of respect for him for telling us that, when he could have quickly made money on a simple fix. We will always use these guys!

2020 Surprised to get charged an appointment fee of $25 for an appliance install. More surprised by the quote given...2.5 times the cost of (multiple) other competitors! Wish they would have given that ball park amount over the phone or told me about the appointment fee...the 5* review I gave in 2019 is going down a bit 2019 Sean & Brandon, “the A team” were great. They upgraded a broken valve and provided about 5 tips for other visible things in the basement. They noticed a water line leak and were able to repair that on the spot. Above and beyond and totally transparent throughout the process.

Pipe Doctor repiped almost all of my 29-yr-old single family house because we had polybutylane pipes. Their price was reasonable for such an extensive project. Jacob and his team were prompt and cleaned up after each day of work, and they finished everything in 2 days. Drywall cut-out were minimized as they had informed us prior to starting the project. We got drywall repair done by another contractor. Pipe doctor also replaced our sump pump (that broke down) and they installed a new under the sink water filtration system. Jacob is very knowledgeable, honest and friendly.. Highly recommended!

He was very clear on cost and next steps through the whole process, making sure to check in with us so we knew the cost and what the plan of action was and also if the plan needed changing. What a great experience! Scheduling was a breeze; and the plumber, Owen, arrived on time, well within the window after a call that he was on his way. I originally scheduled them to install a touchless kitchen faucet I had purchased; when he was here, I inquired about replacing the garbage disposal and then he noted some issues with my current kitchen sink traps (which were clear to see when he pointed them out). He recommended that he check the old faucet to see if it was salvageable before we spend extra money to replace it. Adam from The Pipe Doctor was amazing. As soon as he walked in the front door and I told him the bathtub faucet was leaking he said the cartridge in the shower handle needed to be cleaned. He knew exactly what the problem was and was very patient with me while I asked about other possibilities I had found on Google (which obviously makes me an expert). He just knew without a doubt what the problem was. He said if he could just clean the cartridge the price would be about half the cost of replacing the cartridge with a new one. I agreed to both options in case the new cartridge had somehow become damaged. Once in the bathroom, he was surprised that the faucet handle was brand new, it had just been installed within the last month. Another plumber had installed the shower handle the previous month, I called that plumber when water leaked through the ceiling below after a shower a month later. He couldn't find the cause so he just caulked around the chrome plate. After he left it no longer leaked through the ceiling, but the faucet began a steady leak, that is when I called The Pipe Doctor. Adam found the newly installed cartridge was clogged with pieces of what appeared to be pipe liner. He pulled pieces out of the cartridge and then asked me to turn on the main water line for about 1 second to flush the line, I did this four times. After each of the first 3 flushes, he pulled liner out of the pipe. It ran clear after the fourth flush. The pieces measure from 1/2 inch to 2.5 inches long. He did not need to replace the cartridge as it had not been damaged. He could not guarantee this had cleared all the material out of the lines. He said the problem was not due to something the last plumber did. I did send that plumber an email just so he would know what to look for if another customer called with a leaking faucet. This repair stopped the leaking faucet, but after a shower the next day the ceiling below again began to leak, so there was still material in the pipes that would need to flushed out. When Adam returned he said a possible source of this material would be the dip tube in the hot water heater, he wouldn't know until he installed a new hot water heater so he could take the old one apart. I already knew it was about time to replace my 1998 hot water heater. After replacing the hot water heater Adam found the dip tube in the old unit had deteriorated from almost 4 ft tall (the length of the hot water heater), to only 3.5 inches and what was left of it looked just like the material that had clogged my shower cartridge. I got a very good price for the hot water heater and installation, plus the 15% senior discount made the cost more than reasonable. Adam is a very upbeat, friendly, positive person. He explained to me every step of the way what he was doing, why, and what he found, as well as the cause. After I gave him his tip he told me any tips he receives are passed on to a good friend of Adam's, a clergyman, who uses the money to pay for medications for the elderly. I had called The Pipe Doctor a number of times before each of Adam's visits. Danielle was always friendly, courteous, and answered all my questions. I would like to thank her for all her help and patience. The Pipe Doctor is now my plumber, they are experts.

Contacted the Pipe Doctor through Angi to unclog the drains in the tub and shower in both of our bathrooms. Adam did a great job snaking through the drains to eliminate the source of the blockages (gobs of hair). He also detected that the pvc vent to our gas water heater was broken, a dangerous situation with the risk of carbon monoxide poisoning. He installed a new part for the vent. We are grateful to Adam for detecting this problem and are very pleased with all the repairs.

I called to have my master bathroom toilet unclogged. They were able to have someone out same day. Adam was personable. He was able to clear the blockage after removing the toilet and snaking the main line. He even ran a mini camera at no charge to identify the cause of the clog. It is actually a backgraded that was causing the problem and provided an estimate on the cost to repair the issue permanently and indicated it did not have to be done right away but without repair the drain will eventually clog again.

I called Pipe Doctor Plumbing because I had a leak in my garbage disposal. Owen came out that same day and was able to replace it. What impressed me was the degree of attention he took to make sure that he left no mess, ensure that the new garbage disposal wasn't leaking and explain any observations he had about problems. I just want to remind everyone, that these are not handymen, they are plumbers and therefore the prices are in line when compared to other plumbers.

So I woke up Black Friday Weekend to take a shower for work and had zero hot water. I called three plumbers including a plumber I've used for years and no answer. I called pipe doctor a lovely young woman answered and told me a technician named Adam would be at my home by 4pm. I was at work but my gf was home.. Adam was on time and quickly determined my hot water heater was over 20 years old. He said he could reset the breaker that tripped but due to age it needed to be replaced. He also recommended a couple other repairs to increase performance. We scheduled the replacement for Monday. He was there first thing installed the water heater and did the other work. Jacob arrived at my house and quickly diagnosed the cause of my basement flooding issue. Shortly after, the "A Team" was dispached and came out and replaced a defective main water pipe with a new high-quality copper pipe. In a very short period of time, the Pipe Doctors had my basement flooding problem completely fixed and good to go!! I honestly thought the appointment was just an estimate and they would have to come out again later to do any work. Nope, Adam replaced the bad part right there and was gone within the hour. We had a main water line pipe leak in our basement that required us to shut the water off to our whole house. I called Gary and he responded within minutes, and sent Adam over very soon afterwards. Adam arrived and was very professional, and great at customer service. He assessed the situation, and presented us with two options. You could tell he was really thinking it through and was knowledgeable. Although the less expensive option was attempted first, it did not fix the problem. They were going to have to dig quite a few feet from outside the house in order to access the pipe. Adam was reassuring and returned the next day with Jacob who worked hard at digging. Once digging was done, they discovered the pipe was encased in hydraulic cement and would have to drill through cement in order to access the pipe. They stayed until 11 pm that night doing their best to get things back up and running. Our case was quite unique, Gary the owner even came to help and they had to return the following day to finish the job, a total of 3 days. These gentlemen are all very professional and I highly recommend them and The Pipe Doctor. While working on this, Adam discovered another issue in our mechanical room that helped avoid another potential disaster for which we are truly grateful. Adam genuinely cared about our issues, and also planned ahead and even had all parts ready when he returned with Jacob and they swiftly took care of our second problem. Owen was my technician and found that the water was coming from the valve in the master bedroom shower. I had other companies come out and was told I need to redo the entire shower because I have back to back bathrooms. I am a commercial property manager whom manages buildings through out Northern, Virginia. This past Saturday, a building I mange in Lorton experienced an issue with a back up in the main sewer line. I called Pipe Doctor around Noon, and within two hours they were onsite to diagnose the problem. Adam confirmed there was a backup in the main sewer line that needed to be cleared. Adam got to work, and communicated through out the project .The main challenge we had was gaining access to the necessary unit, as it was a Saturday and most of the business were closed. After working together to gain access to the necessary units, we identified the location and cause of the clog, which Adam was able to clear. The cause and location of the clog were documented in detail and with pictures in the invoice. As a property manager this is a huge help. Outstanding service! I had a deeply clogged bathroom sink in a 1940s home. The clog was more than 25ft into the pipe and drainage chemicals couldn't reach it. The Pipe Doctor technician came out the same day, was extremely professional, and fixed the problem. He tried several methods, starting with the cheaper option. Gary, at Pipe Doctor, was the first to come out and give us an estimate. Their price came in very competitive but what made us go with them was their raving reviews. The reviews were definitely correct. The job to bring out the machinery, dig, replace the water line, reinsert the bushes, then seed and straw the area only took one business day. There were 5 or 6 guys working at one point. The crew was so respectful and clean. If they tracked in some dirt they cleaned it up. I am very impressed. I would give them 10 stars if I could.
