If i could give Bill 10 stars I would. He arrived on time and he was experienced, nice, and extremely professional. My boiler was not working properly and he was knowledgeable and patient. He showed me how to maintain the boiler. He explained the cause of the issue and made sure that everything was fixed prior to leaving. He told me the cost prior to fixing the issue and i never felt pressure. I highly recommend Bill and this company. I will use them from this point forward. Ranshaw Heating and Plumbing strikes again! Professional, helpful, courteous, smart, fair pricing, kind + wonderful customer service. From the owner (Rick) and his incredible team incl. Joshua, Richie, and the amazing Hing (The Plumbing Whisperer*), everyone there is top notch! My Mom had a new toilet installed + had to have completely new pipes for her bathroom sink + they fixed a clog too. I got to speak with owner Rick, who was both technical, and had a great beside manner! (We talked toilets, toddlers, potty, and pipes lol). This review may be a bit late but as I go through my invoices and records as the year draws to an end, I wanted to make sure to mention that Ranshaw Plumbing and Heating really saved the day for me back in September, and I would recommend them highly to anyone looking for a quality plumbing service in the area. My old water heater sprang a leak that managed to flood the basement. It was pretty awful but I called Ranshaw and the wonderful Gigi really helped me out, calmed me down, and got service to my house the next morning. Gigi, you are the unsung hero of Ranshaw! I hope they know what a gem they have in you. The Ranshaw crew showed up promptly and got everything fixed quickly and efficiently. They also replaced a valve that would not close all the way (which added to the flooding woes), installed the new water heater and took the old one away so I did not have to deal with that. Now the hot water is great and plentiful, heats up right away. I only wish I had called them BEFORE the leak! But that's on me, and Ranshaw really helped alleviate a bad situation quickly, which was and is much appreciated.

When I bought my house I noticed a service tag from ranshaw and called them to check my boiler since they installed it, since then they have done some minor repair and yearly maintenance. The wealth of knowledge their techs poses is amazing, very straight forward and no upsell or nonsense during the visits. Truly professional through and through. Richie of Ranshaw detailed the extensive changes needed to bring my 70 year old house up to code to get gas turned back on in middle of winter. He was upfront about costs, time frame and difficulties to be met. Richie was highly knowledgeable and competent in getting permits and plumbing requirements, all done in a timely manner. His people gutted the boiler room and removed all debris. Required chimney work was outsourced. Replaced boiler, hot water heater, all pipes and related parts, then insulated all, replaced gas stove, rerouted gas lines and moved meter to approved distance. Contractor suggested for opening ceiling and elsewhere for rerouting new pipes and to protect gas meter. Richie oversaw the whole process. So very grateful for his help and all his workers including office staff. Very competent, polite and clean. Highly recommended!

I wish I had found this company sooner. Went many days with out hot water only to be stood up by various companies. I called booked an appointment and they were on time. I asked for a quote on the phone. Prices are a bit steep but you get what you pay for. Thank God they sent someone with experience very polite and professional. Between the on site quote and completion of the job they were done in two hours. I rent but I will use them when I buy a house. Everything is done and I have hot water again. Thank you

Just had a new boiler put in by Ranshaw and I wish I had known about these guys sooner. The igniter on my old boiler went out last winter and I called some random local guys that were terrible and severely overcharged me (predatory pricing because it was the middle of January). Before the winter hit this year I decided it was time to completely change out the 40+ year old unit and looked around to see who could do it right. I'm so glad I found Ranshaw, both Richies ,yes there are two, were professional and knowledgeable. I'm very happy with their service and won't be calling anyone else in the future. Do yourselves a favor and stop wasting time with local HVAC/plumbing guys that run a business from their basement. There's a reason why Ranshaw has so many positive reviews vs the competitors.

I called Ranshaw for a sump pump issue, and they were able to send Hing and Angel out within a few hours. Hing was able to diagnose a faulty sump pump and replace it on the same day. Not only was he meticulous during the installation, he was able to walk me through his thought process and the actual installation. In my experience, any regular plumber can come do work, but rare are the ones who can keep you in the loop throughout a job, answer questions and address any other concerns all at the same time. Hing and Angel were prompt, professional and a pleasure to work with - they even went the extra mile to sweep and clean up debris. I would not hesitate to use their services again and are worth every dollar.

We called Ranshaw and was able to get a fast appointment. We had an original trap in one of our bathrooms. Initially, we thought that Josh and his partner could drop a new sink in but after a careful review of the situation, Josh advised us that the current vanity may not hold up, that too, was an original. He gave us several quotes and the one that worked best was in line with that we thought, buy a decent but inexpensive vanity with a new sink. I was able to purchase one the same day and when we called the company back, there was a cancelled appointment and Josh was able to come back! He and his partner carried the new vanity in for us and they did a beautiful job! New trap and newly installed vanity. Jan 2022: If I could give Ranshaw and the 2 guys who came to fix my boiler, I'd give them 10 stars!! Arnold and Sean (I'm sorry if I misspelled name), came as promised on time and followed requests. They listened attentively and gave their ideas, suggestions, and then went to work right away. They gave me the cost and it was reasonable. Their work on the boiler, replacing the circulator pump, flushing the the boiler, and other general checks was neatly and professionally done. Besides being professional and knowledgable, these 2 gentlemen were very polite. I will be using Ranshaw for maintenance and any future heating/plumbing issues. June 2022: Arnold and Joe came to provide a maintenance for my boiler. Very professional, polite, neat, and detailed in their work. Thanks for the great service!

We recently had a recurring problem with our shower. The unit was a complicated one made by Grohe, and it was about 20 years old. Hing had serviced it before, but this time we decided it needed to be replaced. Therefore, Hing needed to remove the old tiles and make room for a new shower body. He did this with great care so as not to damage too many tiles. Now, with the new shower and replacement tiles in place, you would never know it was patched. Also, it was nice to receive a follow-up call from Hing a few weeks later to make sure everything was working properly. We were very pleased with the work.

One of the services not listed and they did an excellent job with was to install brand new gas lines throughout the whole house due to a major gas leak. In addition, removed all old gas lines and old meters plus had to relocate meters due to new city codes. The job Pete, lead mechanic, and his crew did was very professional, clean and just impeccable. Pete was as professional as they come, friendly and very knowledgeable. He's strict with his crew and always expecting the best from them. If they're not aware of something, he'll explain it to them and show them to do it the right way. Training the next generation to do it professionally. I definitely made the right choice when I went with Ranshaw. Their previous reviews definitely helped me make the right decision.

I've been meaning to write this review for a while. I hired Ranshaw to replace my extremely old behemoth of a oil burning furnace months ago and I could not be happier! First off, I initially spoke with Anthony over the phone who was the kindest most thorough person and explained the procedures and pros and cons of converting to gas from oil. After which, Richie came to do my consultation and spent over an hour at my home inspecting, assessing and addressing each of my questions and concerns. When it came time for the job it span the course of 4 days since asbestos removal was also involved. Each one of the technicians were extremely polite, thorough and professional. They installed a water heater as well since it was a bit cheaper to bundle it with the furnace. All in all, I highly recommend them and am so grateful for the hard work, professionalism and just humanity that they provide with their service. Additionally their pricing was competitive if not better than the next leading company. You will not be sorry you chose Ranshaw!

The plumbers, Hing and Sean, were consummate professionals. They were able to diagnose and remedy a water leak above my bathroom ceiling in an efficient manner. Hing and Sean also took great care in preparing the bathroom to protect my bathtub and vanity from the repair process; they also took great care lining my living room hardwood floor to the bathroom. A very pleasant experience overall, and I would not hesitate to recommend Ranshaw, especially the dynamic duo, Hing and Sean for any plumbing work.

Ranshaw was very efficient, organized and overall did great work at my house. I needed to get an old chambers stove out before installing a new one. This was no easy undertaking given the size, weight of the cast iron and how it was sunk into the floor. Others had denied the job due to the difficulty and I’m so grateful we got Hing and Sean to come help us. Hing was always so patient to explain the causes and solutions for the issue at hand. They brought the right tools and got that monster stove out while not damaging anything in the process. They are so neat and discarded all unneeded materials right away so there was never a mess. They also installed the flop sink in the basement, gave me a new set of pipes for the gas, water, drain and corrected my laundry vent for the laundry room. I previously had an all “mazed” up arrangement but they corrected that and now I can tell what line is what without having to trace with a stick! Very neat job…. I must emphasize. Ranshaw is not the cheapest but they do a great job and that’s what everyone needs. The worst is paying less and having to do it again and again until it becomes as expensive. Or hiring someone to fix a problem but they create another. Definitely don’t have that with Ranshaw. I highly recommend Ranshaw, especially Hing and his partner!

I have been using Ranshaw for the past 20 years for plumbing and heating at my home in Queens. We recently had them fix a leak under my bathroom sink. I called their office first thing in the morning. As always, they were very pleasant over the phone and sent a plumber out to me right away. Please allow me to preface this review by mentioning that h ave consistently been a Ranshaw's customer since April 1993! Mr Richie Bonelli Jr assigne Mr. Hing to take care of a radiator in my two family house that would not heat-up for a long time. Mr. Hing was proven to be an excellent diagnostician along with multiple years of field experience. He proceeded to resolve the issue in an efficient as well as timely fashion. .The radiator has been providing heat and we feel very comfortable. In addition, Mr.Hing was very polite to me and his apprentice, well spoken, explaining in layman's terms what he was doing with a great sense of humor! In conclusion, I highly recommend Mr. Hing for any challenging plumbing issue you experience and would like to be resolved.. As a Ranshaw customer for almost 14 years, I needed two plumbing repairs at my home in northeast Queens in July 2021, and this is my first review ever. I was SO VERY PLEASED WITH HING L. the plumber, who is professional, knowledgeable, polite, and friendly. Job #1: leaky 3-piece widespread faucet in main bathroom was running/making loud noises and wouldn’t turn off completely. Faucet was installed by a previous owner about 25 years ago, and it has no markings on it for brand or country of manufacture. On Hing’s first visit he determined the stems in both hot and cold sides needed to be replaced, but he had to research online which brand of faucet it might be. He took photos with his phone of the existing stems and noted that it could take some time, but he was cautiously optimistic since he was often successful in finding such parts. He patiently and clearly answered all my questions and listened to my request to try to repair the faucet first rather than replace it since I plan to replace the entire vanity/sink/faucet in the near future. When I had made the appointment, I was told the fee for the service call would be $125, and Hing told us that if he found the faucet parts that the $125 would be credited toward the final repair price. A few days later Hing phoned to say that he looked online and consulted with another plumber friend, and he thought our faucet was probably a Price-Pfister model made in Germany and so he had ordered two parts online due in a few days. The following week Ranshaw called to set up another appointment. When Hing came, he carefully compared the new faucet stems to the existing ones before installing the new ones, and they were both a perfect fit! I was amazed and impressed with Hing’s persistence and eye for detail. Job #2: slow leak on pipes under kitchen sink—no water/dripping seen, but lots of green dust and corrosion coating pipes. More than 10 years ago, I had another local plumbing company (no longer in business) replace the pipes due to a leak. On Hing’s first visit he looked at the pipes and said he could do the repair at the same time as the bathroom repair and he took notes on what would be needed to be done. On Hing’s second visit, when he compared the old pipes to the new, thicker, heavier American-made pipes he was going to install, he also pointed out that the old pipes from the previous repair had been installed in an odd convoluted way. The sink drainer basket needed to be changed and Hing found the style that would fit our set-up since the standard one that Ranshaw uses would not have fit correctly. Also he or his assistant clipped up the hose connection to the dishwasher out of the way of the storage area under the sink. It’s a small detail, but it makes a difference. When both jobs were done, the $125 was deducted from the total cost of the two repairs (803.50). It’s been a few weeks and all is good with both the bathroom faucet and the kitchen pipes, so I DEFINITELY RECOMMEND HIRING RANSHAW FOR THEIR GREAT SERVICE AND WORK, BUT ESPECIALLY HING! Previous times I had called Ranshaw for plumbing services to replace a water heater in Jan. 2019, and to replace a leaky kitchen faucet, both done by Angel C., who also did great work!

I have dealt with a lot of various plumbers regarding my heating system over the years, most disregarding whatever I would say and hurry up to just satisfy the call rather than diagnose. Can't say that about Ranshaw and Bill. Not only did he listen to everything I said, he was able to diagnose the root cause of the problem, which was just something both of us did not expect. He took his time and ensured that everything was working, testing to make sure there were no further issues with any other portion of the system. The only thing i regret is not calling Ranshaw sooner! Great company, extremely professional, and great service!

My heating system was experiencing numerous problems and I was overwhelmed and didn’t know who to turn to. After doing my research online and based on others positive reviews, I decided to call Ranshaw for an evaluation. I had all sorts of problems stemming from radiators that would not stop leaking to banging pipes in the middle of the night that interrupted my family’s sleep. Mr. Hing and his assistant came to do a thorough assessment of the problem and explained in detail the corrective measures needed to stabilize the heating system. The first was a boiler that was overfired and pressure needed to be stabilized, there were also uninsulated pipes and the pipes to the radiators weren’t connected properly enabling water to get trapped and not return properly. For this last issue they carefully cut out a small hole in the wall to confirm the connections and addressed the issue at the source. When it was time for all the work to be done, Mr. Hing took his time ensuring each step of the way the system was calibrated properly and even conducting a heat-loss analysis to ensure I had even heat throughout my home. We are extremely happy and grateful for his dedication to solving all these issues and allowing my family to comfortably be warm at home during this winter. I had made several attempts previously to correct this problem and had been unsuccessful with other companies. I wouldn’t hesitate recommending their services and appreciated his follow-up even after the work was completed.

Hing, our installer, and the gentleman with him did a wonderful, clean job. The price was within reason. Joanne, the person in the office, made all the arrangements and explained the procedures. UPDATE. PLACED MY FIRST SERVICE CALL 1/21/22. It’s 22 degrees. Tenant advised me at 8:41 am no heat. Placed service call 8:57 am. Bill arrived 10:48 am. Boiler running by noon and, unfortunately for me, $913, later. Grateful for quick service to keep my tenants comfortable 😊 Sept 2021: Bill was professional. He conducted a tune up on a vintage boiler brand he was familiar with. He checked everything and adjusted the emissions. I have been a customer of Ranshaw Plumbing & Heating for over 40 years. They have always given me courteous service and extremely reliable. They are a family operated company which is why they will go out of their way for you to meet your expectations. In todays times, it is very hard to find a company that has hard workers and also if they care about you and what needs to be done on your job. My oil burner just went on me but gave me about 35 years of service. I had to replace my oil tank which was a big job, but the mechanic and crew were hard workers and did a great job. I also had to replace my oil burner and they had to run a new line so basically I had to replace everything. The mechanic and crew were at my home for two days. I never saw such dedicated, hard workers like this before. My husband and I are very happy with the job they did. I highly recommend this company if you need to put in a oil burner or gas heat in your home. Everyone that works there is pleasant and they will make sure you are satisfied and your expectations have been met. This is a company that once you try them, you will stay with them for many years. Called at 10am, Valarie got all the information and details she needed, before she hung up she said "Welcome to the Ranshaw family". I asked her to have someone come after 12pm. The job site was left clean and he didn't leave my home until he was absolutely certain that the plumbing repair was working properly. I just recently had Ranshaw replace a boiler in a 6 unit building. I am so pleased with the work they performed that this is my first review ever. I'm compelled to write a review because of the excellent service and work Ranshaw performed. As some may know, any building that has above 5 apartments requires that city codes and regulations be followed. Richie Bonelli was my contact at Ranshaw from the start and oversaw the entire project from beginning to end: from getting the permits, performing the job, arranging the inspection, to the city sign off on the job. Throughout the entire job there was constant and quick communication keeping me informed of each and every detail. Every one of the workers was courteous and professional - including the people on the phone at their office - super nice! I would highly recommend Ranshaw Plumbing and Heating to family, friends, and anyone who is in need of plumbing and heating services. I had a little issue with the phone and couldn’t post my review earlier but last week Monday Hing came to help us with our hot water issue. Three weeks ago we had our mixer fixed and after the plumber left we realized the hot water wasn’t working. We were taking cold showers in the middle of winter. It was definitely not fun. We had a leak from a pipe coming from the furnace. Angel C and his assistant diagnosed the problem not as a broken pipe but water escaping from an air release valve due to too much water in the heating system. They did not jump to conclusion that water was accidentally added to the system rather they persisted in testing and determining that it was from sediment buildup and need to do a chemical flush of the furnace. Hing was sent to my house and could not have been more professional, took the time to listen to all my issues, walked through the problem as he saw it step by step, didn’t waste time, was receptive of my questions and helped me come up with a game plan to solve my issue. Hing is clearly knowledgeable about steam heating, cares about the customer and isn’t trying to fix things that aren’t broken. It’s critical to find a plumber that is passionate and knowledgeable about steam when trying to troubleshoot issues, as the solution isn’t always clear or just one step. They came to the house to service the boiler and water heater. The person cleaned out the boiler, scrubbed all the pipes down, changed the washers, re-sealed everything, vacuumed all the crevices, and wiped everything down. Even tagged/labeled all the pipes. I thought he did a thorough job and would recommend this company to others. He didn't clean everything would a fine tooth comb (as expected) but I thought he was thorough enough. I asked a lot of questions and he was very patient in explaining everything to me. That was very important to me. Located in Queens: I called Ranshaw for a leak in my basement that was located underneath the first floor bathroom and a defected tub faucet , it was an emergency and behold 2 hours later Hing and Joe showed up. Their customer service was exceptional and informative. They got started right away in trying to figure out what was causing the leak. Apparently, the plumbers that originally installed our bathtub cut the trip lever too short which caused the leak. Hing and Joe replaced the lever by using the crawl space underneath the tub in our basement which was not an easy job. We also inquired about another issue in our bathroom, Hing gave his honest opinion about the level of work needed and allowed us to determine whether or not it was a priority at the moment. Although this company can be a bit pricey, I find it is worth the peace of mind knowing you have servicemen who are trustworthy and reliable. I will definitely use this company in the future.

After been flat out refused to be helped by 2 different plumbers with no heat in the artic deep freeze this last week. I called Ranshaw Plumbing &Heating they answered so polite and helpful on the phone. They sent Bill Bitel. Bill Bitel explained everything that needed to be done said it would take about 1 hour. That visit we did get some heat but by morning it was ice cold again. Next day I called and explained still not working could they come again after 1 pm. About 11 am got call from my neighbor my boiler set off water alarm in basement, I called Ranshaw again told them that my boiler had set off water alarm in my basement. They sent Bill Bitel over again by 11:45 he was already working on before I got there. A valve burst he fixed then came to apartment said that it must a frozen pipe in my bedroom wall put heater in room and with temperatures rising hopefully it will thaw and not burst. Well Saturday they called me asking if heat started working yet. I said only in front half house still nothing in bedrooms and bathrooms. About an hour later mr bonelli called again saying he was sending Bill over again they had an idea. Bill came said they had found out some information about my development and knew how to fix the problem. I am so happy to have called Ranshaw Plumbing & Heating that they showed up fixed things came back to fix other issue that happened faster and followed up on how I was doing. I couldn’t have been in better hands. Thank you Bill and Ranshaw for taking care of us.

REFERENCE TO INSTALLING A NEW OIL TANK. After literally months of dealing with companies that install oil tanks for home furnaces I needed up right back where I started from. I was now staring at a blank wall and seemingly had gotten nowhere for one reason or other. Truly trying to get someone to install a new oil tank border on the verge of lunacy. Overpriced, cash only, no warranty, can’t doit now or for several months etc. Double talk, Outright lying and more. So out of the blue through a friends next door neighbor, a Steve Greenberg, who just happen to be a contractor I got two names. I called the one that was closest to me. The companies name was Ranshaw and I spoke with a Richie Bonelli. He came out immediately and I felt Instantly that he was the real deal, honest and intelligent. The gut instinct proved me right down the road. I shown him that the only way to get a tank inside the house was to lift it onto the countertop and then slide it off down the cellar stairs. BTW, all the other companies I had here, poo pooed it out of hand and immediately doubled the weight of the tank which I already knew was dead wrong. Richie listened and then asked to check the side door which I knew a tank would never fit through. He retrieved two flat disks from his vehicle the shape of the ends of a tank. At first it wouldn’t fit but then he did some adjustments and in it went. His price was under everybody else’s by over $600 to $700 A week later with a crew of 4-5 workers the tank was in with all new fittings, exhaust and receive pipes all new. They bled the lines and I was up and running and now can take hot showers. What can I say, it simply doesn’t get better than this and my instinct proved correct and I am more than pleased. No welding, a brand new tank That works perfectly. Thank you Richie, Ranshaw and you are true gems.

They will bend over backwards for you and diagnose the problem accurately professionally and quickly. They don't come cheap but you get what you pay for. If you rationally recognize the prior sentence, there is no need to shop around they are the people to call for all heating issues.

Troubleshooting, parts order and replacement...problem fixed lickety-split! Took the pain out of the whole experience of having your heat go down in the winter. House was 50 degrees Saturday morning. Called Renshaw without a service contract. Brent, the service tech, arrived within 2 hours. He immediately started a methodical process of going through the electrical flow of the boiler circuitry. Within 15 min he had identified the issue, and another 15 min later the boiler was up and running. I appreciate the fact that Brent demonstrated expert knowledge of the boiler, and that he was efficient and effective with his thought process which expedited the resolution of the issue. One note about Renshaw. They installed this boiler last winter, so it’s less then 1 year in service. The boiler intermittently would not fire up last season, but they did not come back to the house to determine the cause. They told my sister in law that the issue was related to radiator leaks. Turns out that the issue we experienced this and last season was related to a pressure sensor which required some adjusting. Hopefully that was an honest mistake, and not intentional to generate a service call. So it’s 5 stars for Brent / service, but would be closer to 3 stars for Renshaw / installation supervision.

on january 2,2018 your service technician arrived at my home in collegepoint to trouble shoot a problem with my gas burner/steam heat system! after a brief discussion regarding problem Hing performed numerous checks of appliance.my concern was that automatic water feed was malfunctioning and system may overheat. all equipment was satisfactory. two radiators shutoffs were in closed position, due to age steam still seeped through shutoff, also air valve replaced. later i found another air valve leaking and replaced. operator error, perhaps? h;owever the knowledge of steam heat systems that Hing had was evident to me in first 5 minutes!!! i have been homeowner of several homes with steam and baseboard heating for more than 30 years.i have become very aware how tempramental the systems can be. it is without a doubt your technician Hing has great knowledge and understanding of how the steam heat system should work efficeintly!!! what a pleasure!!!
