I was very very impressed with this company - they came out to replace my water main via American Water Resources insurance - they must be very well staffed because they came the very next day after they inspected it initially. A team of maybe 4-6 people replaced my water main connecting it to the city water line, digging deep 4-5’ holes - which looked very laborious, they were super efficient, started a little before 8am and were 100% done by 4pm! Wow! And everyone I came in touch with, starting with the people on the phone, were clear, concise, pleasant and organized. I couldn’t believe how smoothly it went, especially since insurance was involved. It’s been about half a year now, so I can vouch that their work has held up perfectly so far!

I wish I could rate way more than the five stars provided! I had a back-up in the basement bathroom and it was because the sewer trap was clogged. Unfortunately, when I went to clear it out I dropped both caps in the pipes and could not get them out. That's when I searched online and found Balkan. All of the reviews I read gave me confidence that I was calling the right plumbing service. Everyone that I spoke to from Customer Service to George the Plumber were super friendly and informative all along the way. When George came out he took his time to diagnose the situation and provided several options. He kept me in the loop regarding costs during the entire job. Called Balkan this afternoon to help with a sewer back up in my downstairs shower. Shernice responded to my call. She was so sweet and helpful. She contacted George and told me he could be at my house in 30 minutes. George arrived on time and took time to listen to my concerns before checking on the problem. George inspected the sewer traps, the bathroom shower & toilet and was able to diagnose and fix the problem at a very reasonable price. George was amazing throughout.. his wealth of knowledgeable, experience and professionalism are second to none. I’ve dealt with many plumbers over the years and have never written a review before. George from Balkan plumbing was AMAZING. We had an issue in our home and had four plumbers spend eight hours trying to fix it. They gave up and told us to call a sewer line specialist or whatever, so we called Balkan and got George. George alone fixed what four other guys couldn't, and he did it in half the time — AND managed to fix two of our sinks and increase the flow on one of our toilets. He's a truly amazing plumber. I will recommend him to anyone.

The 5 star rating is not an exaggeration. I had an issue in my basement where water was pooling in a few areas and there was a smell. Contacted Balkan and got an appointment for the next day. Their communication and updates up until the worker came was phenomenal. Brian got here within the allotted time, had a look around and immediately knew what the issue was. On Friday, October 21st, I made an appointment with Christina who was very helpful and professional. She gave me an appointment window of 9am-1pm. At about 9:30am, I received a call from Andre Seetal. I showed him the sewer main leak in the basement and he then proceeded to tell me what the workers were going to do. He made us feel comfortable and at ease. He said the job would take one day. Also, he quoted us a decent price. He said we needed to replace the lead pipe to a copper one smaller in size and also install a curb valve on the sidewalk in front of our house. Bright and early on Monday, Michael and his crew began working on the sewer main line and in the basement. They finished around 5pm. Over the next few days, other Balkan employees would come by to do additional work on the sidewalk and street. I can’t say enough good things about Balkan. Thank you!

Christopher came down to my house on Union Street in a timely fashion, he was patient in explaining me exactly what he is doing, and he did not rush through the job he was very thorough, he answered all my questions patiently even though I did ask a lot of questions. Update, a week after the job was done I noticed that the cap was off, so I called and they came the next day with a new cap, I was very impressed with that.

George took his time to do the job right and ended up staying for 2.5 hours! The last time he came to perform the same service was in 2015 when water backed up into my basement due to heavy rains. I did not experience any flooding for three years straight thanks to George. I highly recommend him and Balkan for your plumbing needs. The company is honest and the prices are fair.

I would give George 5/5 stars! We were having issues with sewage backing up into our basement shower and had had Roto-Router come by to check it out. They said that they would need to use a water jet and camera to fix the problem and quoted us a high price to do it. After researching some other companies, we elected to have Balkan come give it a look. Within 2 hours of arrival, George had dislodged a giant calcified grease ball using nothing more than a snake and unclogged a drain that had been blocked for over 20 years. And every step of the way, he explained what he was doing so that we could better maintain our drains down the line. He saved us money, gave us a knew understanding of our drainage system and best of all gave us peace of mind. All of our drains are working more seamlessly than ever now. I would recommend George to anyone and I will personally never call anyone else if I can help it. I gave this review a 4/5 solely due to the organization of the office. Everyone is extremely nice on the phone, which I appreciated, however I felt like there was a lot being lost in translation between me and the actual plumber. My appointment was even rescheduled a day later without anyone ever contacting me to let me know. In the end my appointment was delayed 3 times for an emergency fix, which I felt like would not have happened if there had been better communication between the people making the appointments and the plumbers doing the work.

Very professional and informative. I had a sewage stoppage which caused the pipes in the basement to overflow with feces and God knows what else. Chris walked in the basement and took one look and knew what the issue was. He went to the garage to find the trap. Once he found which pipes were giving the issue he removed everything that was causing the stoppage. It took around 15-20 to resolve my issue. They also provided me a tracker on the time in which he would arrive to render the service. Just great!

I had a drainage problem and I contacted Balkan in hope of getting George, who as you can see per other reviews, is amazing. Balkan was able to send George same day and despite certain difficulties with the job at hand, George was quick to find a solution and deploy all his years of experience as a plumber into practice. Not only did George do a great job unclogging my drain, he also made the whole experience educational and gave me a couple of good laughs. Good vibes and great service! The quality of work done by the technician was good; however; preceding the communication of doing the work needs to be reviewed. On the customer’s end in terms of locating the technician arrival time was different than dispatch and caused disparaged in communication lines on various levels from the business side. I believe when putting forth service if it be by communication prior to arrival, in explaining the causes or in actually performing the job. There should always be high priority customer provided- to guarantee satisfaction. I was disappointed in the level of communication that was handled in a business sense in terms of giving clear direction of dispatch, which should have been done in a more professional manner on a whole. I would suggest more training in this area of staff with developing good people skills in addition to providing superb customer service with the ultimate goal of being of service for the homeowners and in combination of producing effective quality work ethics.

If you use this service ask for George, you will not be disappointed! George came after Ida to see why we were the only home on the block to get flooded. Not only did he stay until we got to the bottom of the issue but he also took the time to explain exactly what went wrong to each member of the house. He fixed the issue and gave us peace- of- mind by also testing out his theory while he was there. He treated us like we were old time friends of his and truly put in more effort and time then any plumber we have ever had. Had a severe main sewer line back up due to heavy rains the night before. Called Balkan and was given a 4 hr window this afternoon 9/11/20. George was assigned to my issue and was hands down amazing! Honest professional and knows his stuff. He assessed the issue and made sure i knew exactly what needed to be done. He then explained how it will be done which is reassuring. He worked very hard even late into the evening to make sure my drain was cleaned out and working. I had some potential issues with the sewer line so I called Balkan based on online reviews. They were quick to reply. They sent over an inspector the next day to evaluate possible causes. Delovan, the technician came a few days later. He came first thing in the morning and on-time. He opened up the traps. He also had me run the water and flush the toilet a few times. He showed me how the water was flowing very smoothly and that I don't have any clogs. He did make sure that the trap wasn't clogged. He said I don't need anything further. Was charged a small service fee. I appreciated his honesty and professionalism. They sent out text messages every step of the way so they appear to have a very organized operation, which is great. Next time there's a problem, I'll be sure to ask for Delovan!

Any time i need ANY type of plumbing services, this is the only company I trust. During COVID-19 we had some issues with our plumbing, sewer system and water line. I called my favorite plumber and spoke to george. Within 30 minutes. I was confirmed to have someone at my work the same day! Our plumber, george, was one of the most knowledgeable people I've seen. George and his partner apprentice came and cleared tub drain and kitchen sink drain. very professional and clean work,intelligent ,quick and pleasant. My house is over 100 years old and George advised me not to auger it as the pipes are very old and could break. He suggested that I fill the sink with hot water,stop it up with a plug and then let it drain suddenly to suction it out. The tub was cleaned out using a CO 2 tank blast at 40 psi and hasn't run better since I last augered it! I told him on arrival that I'd auger it but with age comes laziness and arthritis! I used Balkan years ago to replace my water main and thought the price was high but after seeing the work his crew did...permits,digging street my lawn,placing pipe and restoring street and lawn. It was a fair price. Soon I'll have to buy insurance for my water line because Balkans warranty will soon end. Good service caring people and reasonable as well.

I want to thank Balkan for sending George the Plumber to our rescue. We had a backed up pipe in our first floor apartment that caused our basement to over flood and cause a total mess anytime anyone took a shower. I called Balkan on Friday morning and they were able to send George that same evening once I was home from work . He came in and explained everything and was able to clear the backup and show us how smoothly the water began to flow once he was done. Writing this review on New Year Eve is the least I can do to express my gratefulness to George from Joseph Balkan Inc. I was assigned him through Home Serve because of an indoor plumbing issue with one of our bathroom sinks. George was dispatched to us because the first person assigned couldn’t fix the issue. He stayed at our home for HOURS trying to assess the issue. Once he figured it out, and it was a very challenging one, he left at 1:30am with an understanding of what needed to occur. Although he couldn’t come the next day because of other jobs he stayed in communication with us. Today, Sunday, he arrived at 8:30am and while at times it looked bleak, he kept at it finally opening up the clog of the corroded pipe by 11:15am. He had to have spent at least seven hours on our job between the two days! He didn’t give up and instead of taking the easy way out by tearing out the organizing sections of our vanity to have more space to work or breaking into the wall to simply replace the pipe, he worked and worked tirelessly. He unclogged the drain and for the 12 years we’ve lived in this house I don’t ever think it drained this well! :) Did I mentioned he even cleaned up after himself! This lengthy review is to let any person looking for a dedicated plumber to know that George is your man. It is also to let the owners of Joseph Balkan know that despite all of the calls on George’s sheet, he is dedicated to each job he touches and gives each one 100%. We had a number of problems in our house that required the expertise of a skilled plumber to parse out. The first person we hired fixed one component and called it a day, leaving us without a clue as to why there was raw sewage leaking into our basement! George was able to diagnose the problem, with it’s many parts, and he and Nick spent hours working on it—determined not to leave until it was fixed. Water main break in the street at my commercial building!!! Of course I called Balkan, as they had worked on a similar problem at my house several years ago. The service was great. I had a 3PM - 4PM appointment for the estimate. He showed up 10minutes early! He explained everything to me and answered all of my questions. We were extremely worried about our warehouse being flooded, but he reassured us, which was very helpful. The work was scheduled to begin the very next morning. Again, they showed up early! They worked very, very hard, and I was impressed by the difficulty of the job. Yet the workers always smiled. I like to watch any kind of work being done, and they did not mind at all. I am always apprehensive when I have to hire a contractor, especially for a huge job. But with Balkan, they have the experience to do it right, and their workers are terrific. And their prices are more than reasonable. What more can you ask for?

At first we were upset because it appears that they might not be able to make the appointment because of an emergency. However, when the young lady we were talking to saw how upset we were she worked hard to get us someone ( Miguel) to come late that evening. Miguel came to us from the Bronx and immediately put us at ease. Then he worked very hard to snake and remove the clog, and cleared the roots all the way to the street. It was late, and he was obviously exhausted but it did not stop him from being extremely nice and working so hard. I give him a 10 out of 10.

I hired Balkan Plumbing to replace a water main and they simply provided first class service. As soon as I called them, they sent a field rep out right away. After providing a very competitive quote, they were able to quickly secure the permits and when it came time to do the job, they completed all in one day. These guys were super professional, courteous, and FAST. They worked nonstop and got the job done in a few hours. I had no water pressure in my home for weeks, I thought it was an issue inside my home but when the plumber came he said the issue was from the mainline from the street. He told me if I didn't have insurance it could cost me a minimum 15K to fix. Luckly, I signed up for water and sewage insurance thru American Water Resources a few years back. I called them and they sent Balkan to the recuse. To my surprise a rep came out the same day to check the line, confirmed it was an issue outside of my home and by the next day they were here digging up my street and front yard to install a whole new water line! All at no cost to me because of the insurance, so if you're a homeowner and don't have this coverage get it IMMEDIATELY! The water pressure in my home is now better than ever! I am rating this company 5 stars. I would rate them 10 if it were a 10 star rating system. My sewer main had collapsed and needed an immediate replacement. Being an HVAC contractor myself, I found them running their crews exactly how I run my crews and my shop. Punctual, professional, honest and did exactly what they said they would do from start to finish. It made living without water or sewer (on and off) for a few days not as bad as you would imagine. Hire these guys. They are well worth the few extra dollars. I also hired a CALL-A-HEAD portable bathroom system for the crews, well worth the $150 per month. There could be up to 10 guys a day working for a few days so the little extra comfort for them was worth it. Great, hard working guys from start to finish!!!

For my total experience please see below: I live in Queens, NY and I had 3-day notice regarding a broke/damaged water main to my house. Got the usual response by DEP that is my responsibility. Ok, great so I start calling around a few large contractors and got pretty much the same price. What drove me to hire Balkan was their commitment to customer satisfaction and it definitely showed because we had a small problem with a damaged electrical conduit that they were able to repair. The guys came back the second day to do the concrete work and so far it looks pretty good. I am hoping that the concrete will last a long time.

Last night the sewer line at our 20 unit coop building was clogged. Sewerage was backing up to our first floor units. We called Balkan Plumbing. I believe the following account of response times speaks for itself: Called Balkan Plumbing @ 6:34 PM Technician arrived 7:34 PM Started snaking @ 7:53 PM Finished @ 8:45 PM The technician arrived within one hour!!! Highly recommend. If you get a 3-day notice from the DEP, give these guys a call. The good: - They had someone out within a few hours to give us an estimate. When we were ready to schedule they were available the very next day. - The guys who came to do the work got there right on time and were very friendly and clear about everything they'd be doing. - Unfortunately it was a rainy day, but they worked hard and when I came to see how they were doing they were in great spirits. - When they needed to come inside to check that everything was working they hosed off their work boots so our apartment wouldn't get muddy. - They had told us work would end sometime between 12-3PM and they were finished at 12:04, at which point they called me out to show me everything they had done and let me know everything had gone smoothly. The not so good: My only complaint is that they are unreachable on the weekend, which almost made us go with a competitor. Luckily the DEP told us weekends don't count against your three days, so we were feeling pretty lax, but if we had been more concerned about timing this definitely would've been a dealbreaker.
