I am incredibly happy with my experience with McDonald Plumbing! Their job was to disconnect the house from the well and to hook up to GR city water. Tim, Troy, and Adam worked efficiently and answered my questions throughout the process. They laid rugs down the steps and across the carpeted floor. They cleaned up any mess and made sure we were happy before leaving. I was happy with the minimal amount of digging in the yard and will easily be able to rake out and plant grass seed in the spring.

They dug the trench with near surgical precision. The pipe angle was verified with a level and the earth underneath was tightly packed. They maneuvered around my tiny yard with great care, and they cleaned up so well they left it better than they found it. I am extremely pleased with the 30 foot of sewer pipe that they replaced and the way they replaced it!

I recently reached out to McDonald Plumbing with the heavy rain that fell for about a week straight. I came to find out our sump pump failed and we had about an inch of standing water in our basement. With it still down pouring we knew we had to act quickly. From the moment I called McDonald, the representative we spoke with was sympathetic and gathered basic info to get to a team leader on the phone immediately (stayed on the phone with me while transferring). The team lead spoke to me within a few minutes and sent a crew within hours to take a look at the pump and assess the damage. The two technicians that came out were knowledgeable, patient, courteous with our home, and acted quickly. Within an hour we had a new sump pump working and the water receded quickly (they also pinned the wires professionally so they would not be damaged, they treated our home as if it were theirs). I will be recommending them for all plumbing needs in the future to anyone we can. From start to finish, what a great group of people who generally care about you and have years of expertise to get the job done right. Kudos to those technicians whom came as well who worked tireless hours for many other homes as well.

Our main water line sprung a leak on Sunday night. We fell victim to failing "Blue Poly" water line. We called McDonald and they directed us to have the city shut off the water at the road. They came out promptly Monday morning to take a look and give us a quote. We had 2 other quotes that day as well. We decided to go with McDonald for a few reasons; their price seemed fair vs other quotes, I have seen their trucks in our neighborhood over the years so I know they are familiar with the homes we have here, and they have a lot of experience in doing the type of work we needed to have done. The work was completed on Tuesday and we now have working water. The 3 man crew that came to do the work was outstanding, professional, and did fantastic work (and didn't mind me asking curious questions about the project). Hands down, they are the right people for new water line installation.

Had someone come out for a second opinion on my sewer line after a different company led me to believe I needed a 14k replacement service. McDonalds was quick to send someone out who debunked the lies I was told by the other company. Turns out I only needed a cleaning and they were quick to schedule me and get that service done. I’m so thankful I called them for a second opinion. They treated me with respect and were very helpful and informative throughout the entire process!

Our leak in the service pipe was discovered on Saturday morning and the water was shut off by the city. I called McDonald plumbing. They were at our home an hour later to take a look and give an estimate. By Monday afternoon we had running water again. The only thing that’s left on our lawn after all the digging and pipe pulling is a 20–30 sq. ft. bald patch, and a very neat one at that. I was, and still am, impressed. The crew were polite, professional, and they worked together as if they had know one another for years. And maybe they have. Thank you, guys!

I called McDonald for a second opinion after another company came out, failed to clear the drain, charged me $550 anyway, and then quoted me $10k to fix it and another $5k to clean up the mess. This all happened on Thanksgiving when many other companies were closed. I'm so glad I called McDonald the next day because they talked me through my panic over the phone, came out right away, successfully cleared the drain, and showed me with their camera that there was no damage requiring extensive repairs. I've since talked to numerous friends who also stand by McDonald and said I did the best thing possible by calling them. They're experienced and skillful plumbers who conduct themselves with integrity and professionalism. I will go to them with all my plumbing needs from now on.

The pump for our drain-field's pump-tank failed due to an electrical malfunction. McDonald came and analyzed the initial problem, waited for us to get some electrical work done, then came back and tested the system, only to discover that there was still a problem despite the electrical fix. They would need to install a new pump. We were able to get the tank pumped out the next morning and McDonald returned at noon and we had a new pump, working correctly, by mid-afternoon on a Friday. So we didn't have to go the whole weekend without using the septic/ drain-field system. The work was quick, timely and efficient, the workers friendly, their explanations clear. I wish the cost would have been less, but we are happy with the results and would not hesitate to call McDonald Plumbing again.

The one issue I had was that it took almost 3 weeks from placing a deposit, to hearing back from them on scheduling. Luckily, they called me and had a last minute opening that day. The plumbers who did the job were amazing. They were thorough, fast, and explained everything in a way where I understood. I have use McDonald for several plumbing jobs, and plan on using then for further projects.

The repairs that I had done were great. The only problem I have is the same pipe that we repaired is now leaking a few feet away from where we just had it fixed. I’ll have to schedule and have another repair done. This will be the third time I’ve had the same pipe fixed. I guess we should’ve looked at replacing the entire thing rather than cutting out the bad spot and patching it. If it didn’t cost so much to have it done after hours I would call them today, but I’m gonna have to wait till after the Fourth of July weekend for this one. In the meantime I’m just watching water go down the drain... I don’t think this is anything that McDonald Plumbing caused. It may just mean the pipes in my building are getting old and need to be replaced rather than repaired.

Best By Far..... Macdonalds are the professionals. My Athletic Club was plagued by sewer gas smells. It was terrible.... no other plumers could find the problem even after smoke tests. Macdonalds found all the issues(7) some of them; some were drains buried inside walls from a decade ago. We cannot thank them enough for solving the mystery and saving our business. A leak was discovered at the main shut off valve at my mother-in-law's house. Fortunately her neighbor was able to stop the leak (tenuous at best) and I was called to take care of it. As this was city water and I had seen their trucks and crew around, for years really, I called McDonald Plumbing. Mr. McDonald came out the next day and with a very professional yet courteous demeanor, explained to me what had to be done. I agreed. A day later ( I couldn't be there) their crew came out, dug a deep hole in the front yard, ran a new pipe to the basement and installed a new shut off valve. My mother-in-law is quite elderly and holds high expectations and was absolutely delighted with the whole process and end result! Not to mention the very reasonable cost. I will recommend them any time.

We had McDonald install a natural gas line for a fireplace insert. The biggest challenge was creating the route that met requirements. Crew leader Brandon explained everything clearly from the start, made a great plan and executed to the highest level of satisfaction. Cutting a way into the chimney was a challenge that slowed the work. But they came back the next day and zipped it up. The invoice even came in about 5.5% under the estimate. Great job!

I recently came home to a ruptured water main. As one can imagine, it was a very stressful and anxious time. McDonald Plumbing came to the rescue in a big way. Scott McDonald quickly came out to assess the situation and exceeded my expectations with his knowledge and experience. He took the time to help me link up to the neighbors water supply via hoses that McDonald’s supplied. It was reassuring to at least have access to running water as this happened late on a Friday and the fix wasn’t able to dealt with until the following Monday. As any homeowner who has had this done knows, it’s an expensive repair. Due to the circumstances, Scott negotiated with me on a price that I felt was incredibly fair. On Monday, the crew showed up right on time and made swift work of the fix, not running into any unexpected delays. This was surely due to their experience. They did a great job keeping my front yard tidy upon completion. I can’t stress how impressed I am with the entire process. If you don’t choose McDonald’s Plumbing for any plumbing needs you are selling yourself short. I will forever recommend their services. They knocked it out of the park!

McDonald Plumbing did a great job. Our gas range quit on us and we wanted to upgrade to a newer unit. Unfortunately our gas lines in our house did not include any shutoff valves behind our gas fired equipment. In January, I needed my main sewer lateral repaired. I chose to replace the entire old clay tile pipe with new hdpe pipe (pipe burst). We also replaced my old lead water service line since the two pipes were in the same trench. I was most pleased to see McDonald removing the old egr dirt/clay with new clean fill and gravel. This was done inside (indoor trench) and outdoor (connection to city main). Very large crew, major project. It came at a price, but i believe a fair price considering the level of work required to replace these two pipes.

I called McDonald Plumbing when I found a pinhole leak in the polybutylene water supply line to our basement. I called the morning I found the leak, and the estimator was to our house by the afternoon. The entire supply line needed to be replaced to the main near the road. I had a major concern that if the issue could not be fixed quickly, the pipe would completely rupture causing a flooded basement. The quote I received for the work was very fair, and I scheduled the work immediately. The team from McDonald was at our house the next day by lunch time, and completed the pipe replacement leaving only a hole in our front yard (didn't need to trench). The work was completed by 3:00pm that next day, and we were able to save our recently redone basement from flooding. I would recommend McDonald Plumbing to anybody looking to replace polybutylene in their house. I would definitely use them again.

The crew that came out showed up on time and had partial water service restored quickly. This job also required replacement of the water meter, they made all the arrangements with the city so everything could be completed at one time. McDonald Plumbing hooked our house up to city water today which included some additional work and expertise. I had them leave the well system hooked up to the outside spigots, add another outside spigot, and add a shutoff to a spigot that needed one. The city water side can be tied into the outside spigots easily if the well fails later. The city water side was flushed before connecting to the house and the water is running clean. After calling 5 or more plumbers McDonald was the only one that could fit me in the same day and my sewage was completely backed up. They came out within 2 hours after calling them and they were very friendly. They sent a camera down my sewer from the house to the city hook-up and cut a bunch of roots that have grown through the joints in the old piping. Unfortunately for me, I'm going to have to replace the pipe from my house to the road, but they got me going again on very short notice when no one else could.

One thing I was disappointed in is they said they hooked the water back up, however, when I got home and tried to use the washer and dryer they were not hooked up, I had to call and have someone come back. They were very responsive to this call but annoying it wasn’t done in the first place. Overall, very great service and got the job done. They are well respected in our area and do many jobs in the neighborhood.

I have now had Mcdonald plumbing to my house for three different plumbing projects and after the first one I knew that they were who I'd go to for any more plumbing issues and I've had no regrets with the last two projects. They offer free quotes so if you have something you plan on doing it would be stupid not to have them look at it, and for emergency issues they'll be there very quick and get everything sorted out. Every time they've been to my house they've been on time, very polite, quick and they haven't left anything for me to have to clean up. I can't think of another plumbing service I'd rather go through and if you're in the Grand Rapids area you need to use them too!

I contacted McDonald plumbing with regard to several issues at my residence in Grand Rapids. My sump pump had failed, and despite my back-up system continuing to mitigate the high water table, I needed to have a replacement put in. More critically, I had a (suspected) main sewer line draining issue that needed to be looked at - this would likely involve the use of the snake-and-camera cable cleaning. I called several places trying to get someone out as soon as possible. Most companies were out until the next week. McDonalds came out the same day that I called. Don C. was on site as promised, on time, and got to work diagnosing right away. I was given a quote for the services on the phone, and once they identified that the main line had heavy roots issues, Don was sure to explain the issue before proceeding, and provided an updated quote. The main sewer line was cleared out via cable cleaning, and Don gave me a detailed summary once complete. The sump pump was replaced with a high quality pump. I also had a spigot not working, and they repaired it free of extra charges. While the services cost me a fair bit, I know that the damage in not dealing with these issues could have been much higher. Don and his partner were both knowledgeable and friendly and I feel confident in their work. I would highly recommend McDonald Plumbing and plan on calling them for any future needs.

We called another budget plumber out to look and they said our pipes were being crushed and there was not much they could do and they advised us to try and hold off until we tied into the sewer. The problem got worse and since Mcdonald was the plumber we picked for the sewer connection we called them on a Saturday to see if they could help and they had a guy out to us in 30 minutes. Not only was he able to fix the problem our pipes weren't even being crushed as the other plumber had said. He even waived the service call fee and only charged labor. Our service tech, Mitch, was incredibly courteous and friendly and immediately diagnosed the problem (blocked drain, which I knew, but he could see what was blocking it when I couldn't). In the midst of this appointment he also discovered a small dripping leak elsewhere in our basement recently created by our underground sprinkler technician; after he cleared our blocked drain he without charge tightened the cap to stop the sprinkler leak and made sure it was good to go before he left.
