We suspected a groundhog had taken up residence under our deck, and I talked to several wildlife removal companies before deciding to go with Varment Guard. I liked their up-front pricing, and the fact they didn't charge per animal caught like some other companies. After the standard 10 days of trapping, I hadn't seen any sign of the groundhog so assumed we were mistaken and had Varment Guard remove the traps (as we kept catching raccoons and opossums instead of our target). Almost immediately thereafter, we spotted the groundhog again and Varment Guard came out the very next day at no additional cost to reset the traps, and we finally got it. My technician Nate was professional and responsive, and I appreciated that he was upfront about the fact that exclusion options wouldn't work well with the layout of our deck, rather than trying to talk me into an additional service. Traps were serviced in a timely fashion, and if we ever have any other wildlife issues (likely, as our yard backs up to a wooded area), I won't even bother calling other companies.

Customer service was helpful and clear. They told me Patrick would contact me to schedule, and he did contact me within a few hours. I did not get back to him until the next morning, but he came to my home within a few hours of that. He inspected our attic, identified where the birds were coming, talked to me about price before doing any removal/repair. Once I authorized the work at the price, he did it quickly and even provided photos for context. He was friendly, professional, and knowledgeable.

The service we had, (Adam was our service provider) was primarily to exterminate mice that were in our attic. Adam was excellent, came back to change the traps and rebait and recently came back again to check on the traps and remove them. At that time there were no evidence of mice eating the bait, nor of mice so the first round of bait got them I think. Adam also baited the outside of the house with 2 bigger traps for mice/voles and that had a lot of hits as well. I would use Adam and the company again in a heart beat as they were timely, efficient, knew their business and I think the cost was appropriate.

We had a bat infestation our attic, partly due to a bad re-roofing job. Brennen of Varment Guard did a thorough inspection, came up with a plan to take care of all our possible entry-points, and executed the plan with great attention to detail, once approved. We would highly recommend him.

I really struggle to understand how these guys are rated so well. We had an inspection done June 22nd after we heard birds in our roof. They came out, told us the birds got out and gave us a quote to fix the soffit in two areas on the side and back of the house. The tech said he'd be out next day to complete this. On Saturday, the 25th, I was informed by my roommate that no one ever came out to complete the repairs. I was out of town at the time but he confirmed with pictures thst no repairs had been completed. I reached out to the tech who did the inspection and he said he would be out that afternoon if the other tech couldn't make it. I thought that would be the end of it. I was wrong. Upon getting home the following Saturday, July 2nd, I noticed there were still gaps in the roof, indicating service had never been completed. The only communication I had received since my last phone call was on June 27th, an email that there was a piece of soffit that had been delayed, but that service would be completed "tomorrow" which logically meant service would be done on the 28th. Since it was apparent that it hadn't actually been done, I called on the next day that the office was open. July 5th. When I called, they tried to inform me that the tech in question, Ty Ashbaugh, had attempted to call me three times in the past week. This was a blatant lie, I had access to my phone the entire time I was out of town and not once did I receive a phone call or any sort of communication from him. They told me they'd send a message for him to reach out to me that day. I never got a phone call. I called again today, July 6th. Informed them that no one called. The girl on the phone agreed to send a message both to Ty, the tech, and his supervisor, with the promise I would get a phone call the same day. At the time of writing this review, I still have not received a call back. I am extremely frustrated at this point, and contemplating canceling service altogether. But I really do not want birds getting back in the roof. At a loss here. After this, I doubt I will ever work with them again. Do not recommend at all. Update: I've been really busy this week and haven't actually had the chance to update my review until today. I did get a call from the regional supervisor, Chris, in regards to our situation. He agreed to personally come out and complete the service at no charge, in exchange for raising my review. Service was completed this past Tuesday. While still unhappy with the situation to begin with, Chris was very nice about the whole thing and he fixed the roof up pretty well, but buyer beware, if you face a similar situation to mine and you do post a complaint, they do everything they can to encourage clients to change ratings to boost their overall image online.

We have had a constant problem with woodpeckers making holes in the side of our house and then other birds living in them later. Zack Oakley solved our problems! not only did he patch the holes in our house, he also put up reflective objects to deter the woodpeckers. On top of that, the first time he came there were still young birds in the nests and he both identifies that for us and then came back 3 weeks later to deal with the problem since we didn't want him to remove the young birds. Now that is service!

The Varment Guard Guys did a great job and it was an awful mess in the attic from raccoons being up there. The guys were Friendly, thorough, careful, and informative. Home insurance helped a lot too! The guys even brought in a shop vac to clean up any stray insulation. So happy it is finished.

If I could give this tech Evan 10 stars, I would!! During the inspection he was very friendly and informative!! He showed me what was going around our home and explained how and what he would do to take care of the problem!! He made me feel very at ease with the process which I really appreciated. I just can't speak highly enough about these guys. I called Varment Guard after using two other companies. The initial company I used found evidence of bats in my home and claimed to have mitigated the problem. Nonetheless, we continued to hear noises in the wall behind my bedroom. I was told my the initial company it had to be a mouse and was likely getting in at the foundation. I never saw evidence of this and almost two years passed as I was trying to figure out where this mouse could consistently be getting in. After the noise continued, I called another service that claimed it was squirrels but found no evidence of them getting in and we never captured any after they set traps in the attic. I finally reached out to Varment Guard hoping a third set of eyes might find something. Jake A. came out and a hole that had never been sealed during the bat mitigation. Rather than simply take my money to repair the hole he recommended that I reach out to the original company with the pictures he took. This is what I did and they came out and acknowledged they had missed this spot and sealed it. Jake was great and the inspection was very reasonably priced and completely worth it considering he found something missed by two other companies. If I had to do it over again I would have started with Varment Guard.

I've been depending on the team at Varment Guard for years. I have a rental property downtown, and have had a massive squirrel problem since day 1. They get to you fast, the prices for the kind of great service you receive is unrivaled, and the daily reports they send show just how hard they're working for you. Varment Guard is on my speed dial, and I don't call anyone else. I don't normally leave reviews, but I just had to after the service I've received over the last couple days. I had a raccoon puncture and enter my roof, leaving a massive hole. Not only did they get to me quickly, but they've been very helpful making sure they do everything they can to help minimize the moisture into the house while we're still trying to make sure there isn't any more critters in there. The roofing companies I've been in contact with, and who have been to the house wouldn't even give me an option....but Jared and his VG team stepped up. They've been an integral part of helping me dissect the problem, even writing a report to help with my insurance claim. This is way "above and beyond", and I couldn't be more appreciative.

We heard a strange rustling overhead in our bathroom, only to go outside to see that a bird was peeking out of the bathroom vent on the outside of the house. Called Varment Guard to to inquire of offered services and set up an appointment. Our service technician, Seth, was prompt and very professional. I am thoroughly pleased with my experience. Dan was able to assess the situation and was very honest about the fact that he didn’t think there were animals in my roof! He monitored for a few days and once he was sure there was no activity, he put a temporary patch on the hole in the roof until my new roof was installed. He even prorated the work so that I received money back since there were no animals in there. I appreciate his honesty and efficiency! I would highly recommend them to anyone!

Zack was great! Arrived within the window he said he would, and after a brief conversation about which vent was the dryer vent (can't be covered per fire code), he got right to work getting out bird nest material and checking for airflow. He even identified a vent I hadn't noticed on the side of the house and offered to put a guard on that one as well for the previously discussed "guard-only" fee. Would absolutely call Varment Guard again, although I hope I never need to!

They were very effective at getting the squirrels out of my attic. Cody was the tech who came out every time and I appreciated that it was always the same person. He changed the configuration of the traps when there were no catches the first few days and gave me daily email updates and sometimes phone calls when there were pertinent updates. I had an extremely positive experience working with Varment Guard, and specifically with our technician Dan. He was professional and very nice. We had a very stubborn squirrel that did not want to go into the initial traps, so Dan came up with another option, and even came out on the weekend to check the new trap set-up. After all the squirrels were caught (turned out there were 4!) Dan repaired the soffit, and it looks like there was never an issue. From start to finish the customer service exceeded my expectations and I would highly recommend them to anyone.

***UPDATE*** This afternoon, I had two technicians come to my home to look at the damage done in the garage by the animal. They looked in the garage at the damage, and also got on the roof and were able to find out that squirrels were chewing their way into my attic and getting through the crawlspace and wall. I was told this should have been inspected initially. After doing the inspection, the traps were moved to the attic to catch any squirrels that may be there. They then offered to repair our roof and the areas the squirrels chewed through, waiving the charge of the roof repair due to not identifying the problem sooner. They were very friendly and helpful, and I greatly appreciate them fixing the situation. This visit showed me how they get great reviews! __________________________________________________ I called Varment Guard after waking to find an animal had gotten into our garage in the middle of the night, chewing the weather stripping around the door to our kitchen and the base of our back entrance to the garage. I had mentioned that we had squirrels in our attic/crawlspace above the main part of the house in the past, and wasn't sure if squirrels were getting in above the garage (different crawlspace...we live in a split level home.) The following day, a technician came out and placed two traps on the opposite side of our home from the garage. After a few days and no catches, I called to speak with someone...saying I wanted to be able to talk with the technician and show them where the animal had been. I had not met the technician setting the traps. They left message with the technician, and I never heard from him. The traps remained in the same place. No catches. A few days later I called again, expressing my frustration with this. They charge you over $400 up front for services. I had already paid in full and nothing was getting done. The technician called me as he was stopping by my house that day. I missed the call, and he didn't leave message. He moved the traps towards the garage, but nowhere near any potential entry points (the place the animal came through the drywall into my garage was in the rear, this was in the front). When I called and spoke with someone in the office, I asked about a refund if nothing was found or caught and was told they don't usually do refunds. Meaning the technician can catch 10 animals or 0...and they will charge you the same. I am very frustrated with my experience and am no closer to knowing what got in my garage and where.

Had these folks install a couple of roof vent cages after a squirrel issue, for the life of me I could not find a reliable company to install them. The cages look excellent on my home, I was so afraid of them being an eye sore. Our tech was Johnny was fantastic, they were able to install them the next day after we approved the quote! Thank you

I’m from the Cleveland area and had an issue with Rats coming up through my busted sewer pipe, and into my basement floor area. I was simultaneously trying to get both issues corrected as it was imperative to protecting my home. Justin Weisent was the rep on the job. He used his quick thinking and extensive knowledge to come up with a plan of attack. It worked to perfection and we were able to bag a large rat within the first couple days of trapping. There was something up in the crawl space above garage. I received immediate attention, same day visit. Dan was great in helping us get rid of our squirrel and raccoon problem. He was able to quickly identify the entry points in our roof, make repairs to funnel the animals out a single hole, and then trapped two squirrels and a raccoon. Dan checked the gender and confirmed that they were all males and that we did not have to worry about any babies in the walls. The patches that he put up look great and have sealed away any other wildlife from getting in. Dan gave us constant updates throughout the two weeks that he serviced our home and followed up with phone calls when he needed to discuss new steps. Dan was great and he would be the first person I would call if I had a pest problem again.

Giving an update on my review as their Manager Jared Miller contacted me after learning of our experience from the previous technician and came to our home and re-inspected and cleaned and sanitized the inside vent. I was impressed by the service recovery of Jared and his sincere effort to make sure their company gets the job done right and I told him now I can confidently say and recommend Varment guard to our friends and neighbors. Thanks JM! Prompt initial service, technician came the same day I requested a service, but I would not recommended work to my friends, Technician came and put a cover on the vent and removed nest inside the vent, was out the door in about 20 mins and my wife told me it doesn't look like technician deodorizes or disinfects the vent as advertised in the service as technician was only carrying a trash bag. Contacted Gwyn in customer service and asked if tech was able to disinfect and deodorize the inside vent as tech found a dead bird inside, tech said he only cleaned the outside. I mentioned my concern that I think it's more important to disinfect the inside especially if there was dead bird. Gwyn said she'd ask the tech to call me and if he needs to come again, I said that would be good but I didn't receive any call back even after my email that we already paid the invoice and haven't received a call yet. Then one of our good friends said, they had birds in their vent too a while ago and hired Scram Pest Control, and told me that the first time the tech came to their home, he sealed outside vent but put a one way tube so if there was any other bird inside, will have a chance to get out, cleaned and disinfect the inside vent then came back after about two weeks to closed and cover their vent permanently. Made me wonder as Varment tech closed the vent permanently right away and if there were other birds still inside, what would happen, especially there was no follow up from Varment guard. Scram Pest control costs a bit more but with the type of work and service they perform, I would recommend them to our friends and relatives next time.

Had exclusion services performed by Dan from Plunkett's Pest Control to remove squirrels and bats. Dan was knowldgable, polite, informative, accommodating and efficient. He also recommended and installed a product called RidgeGuard to help prevent critters coming through roof ridges venting space. I think that Plunkett's pricing is fair and reasonable. The squirrel actually gnawed its way in through a rotting piece of wood along the house right below the 21-year old roof line. Along with the humane traps, Dan also installed a patch over the squirrel's access point to last until my scheduled roof replacement the following spring. Dan was also accommodating and helpful after the new roof was installed. He was very helpful in assuring that the RidgeGuard product that was removed for the roofing job was properly done, and that it met warranty standards. As it turned out, after the completion of the roof, Dan added several more screws at proper, closer intervals per RidgeGuard installation specs, and he renewed the Plunkett 5 year warranty on the product and its installation. I was very pleased by that and am now resting assured that critters will have a very hard time getting back in! I am grateful for Plunkett's, Dan and the roofers for that. Please remember to always be humane and concerned about the critters in your yard and in how any that may get into your home are removed. 2021-0924) Called again re: squirrels finding their way into weather guard area over drain spouts. Dan came out next day, surveyed drain spout areas around the home, isolated the point of access and quickly made repairs needed. Again, work was done quickly, efficiently, and effectively. Dan provided before and after pictures. I'm very happy, and relieved.

The technician was friendly and knew what he was doing. The only difficulty was that the technician that came out to fix the problem was not the same technician that diagnosed the problem and there was some confusion about what needed to be done and how much it would cost. All was resolved with a call to the original technician. The work was performed well and I would use Varment Guard again for any similar problems.

Where do I begin....The research for a reputable company is not easy being an out if state landlord. The google reviews told me all I needed to know to go with Plunketts. Tenants were having problems with mice and I needed an appointment ASAP. No worries got a appointment next day and a detailed inspection report with a phone call from Pete the next day. Pete was very professional and knowledgable about the subject matter. He even went above and beyond to fix the problems. The tenants were educated on the subject matter and how to prevent the problems going forward. Plunketts rescheduled for a follow-up on the matters and i'm sure the problem with the tenant window A/C unit not being properly secured on the third floor and the holes around the connector from the A/C unit to home were the problems....Pete went around the entire double including inside and on every floor to ensure their were no issues with gaps/holes as an entry point. I appreciate his honesty and letting me know the problem was not as bad as I had thought and letting me know what I needed to do and how he can assist....Pete helped me out alot and I feel comfortable referring the company and Pete to others....

Rolsten reached out to me quickly and clarifyed all the misunderstandings and miscommunications. He also helped me to set additional traps. Same-day live skunk trap and removal worked perfectly. Animal removed; fair price for same-day service. ...now just need to make some peroxide+soap+water in a bucket to pour out in that area. ;)

The raccoon issue was resolved. I'm not sure I would have signed the contract if I had been told the animals would be destroyed. I was told they would be relocated by the office person that I spoke with, but then the technician said that was not correct when I asked where they relocate them.
