First off let me start off by saying I'm new to South Carolina just recently relocated from NYC. Never had any sort of bug/cockroach problem. My apartment complex where i reside has a pest control company(ORKIN PEST CONTROL COMPANY). which services the apartment units. Long story short the manager to the pest control company was very nasty and rude and told me my apartment don't have a problem and there's really nothing needs to be done all they did was put some glue traps and gel around my outlets and told me to continue to do what i been doing. I was furious i told him to just leave!!! I then went on the internet and found Modern Exterminating Company. I read all the reviews and knew i had to call and make an appointment. The next day was a saturday and they were closed on the weekends. So i sent them an email and they responded that same day and let me know they received my email and someone would reach out to me first thing Monday morning. Which they did, they set me up with an appointment for the very next day my window time was from (8:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.) The Technician reached out to me at 8 A.M. and said he'll arrive in the next 30 mins. Which he was. He was very informative he walked me through everything he did to find the source of the problem. It was a weight lifted off my shoulders!! Then to top it off i have an appointment for tomorrow which is Wednesday. I'm telling you Modern really goes above and beyond for their customers. If anyone has any sort of pest control problems please call/use them and ask for Taylor Frazier he's super nice and very informative and knows his job and it really does show. Thank you Mr.Taylor Frazier and Ms.Kaitlyn & Ms.Wendy for all the excellent customer service!!!

Luke Anderson continues to do an excellent job in our quarterly services. He listens carefully to my description of what we're experiencing with "critters" and "bugs" and goes the extra mile to address these things. My wife is especially appreciative that Luke uses a sweeper to remove spider webs from the outside doors and windows. We remain highly very satisfied with Luke and hope he remains assigned to our route/house. Mason Mims went above and beyond in his work done on Thursday the 28th. Previously I had used Modern to address issues with "critters" which included a top to bottom inspection of our home. The work was completed in good workman like condition; following this my HVAC contractor was on site to perform our quarterly HVAC services; during this HVAC work, my technician noted a very difficult to reach gable and gable vent near the upstairs HVAC where the protecting wire had fallen off, leaving us exposed to anything that may want to crawl or fly into this portion of the gable attic. I called Modern to let them know that I thought this gable area had been overlooked because it is not accessible through the attic access door. Robert, the Manager at Modern immediately agreed for Mason to return to my home and take care of this matter, which he did. It's been my experience that service based companies must be judged on a variety of factors. How a company reacts when there is an issue or their work may occasionally need to be readdressed is a real mark of their quality and professionalism. Modern excelled and did it graciously. Thank you Mason for your work and thank you Robert for listening to me when I call. Josh Sturkey delivered "excellence" when he performed services at our home on April 19th. His customer skills are well developed ... he called me to alert that he was on the way ... he was timely, arriving "early" in the appointment time frame that had been quoted. He was thorough and made certain that he covered the "out of the way" and sometimes overlooked spaces in and around our home. He was meticulous in wiping his shoes before coming in and he greeted me warmly upon his arrival. One measure that I apply to those who come into our home for services is how our family dog reacts to them ... he passed with "flying colors" ... during our 20+ years as a Modern Exterminating customer, we have had multiple Modern Technicians at our home ... Josh is first class all the way and will always be welcomed back. Mason and his colleague Will performed excellently today; this work included the need to examine the interior for all potential areas where mice could enter our premises. They were able to correct the issues identified and the do exactly the same under the house and around the outside perimeter. We were impressed with their attention to detail and solving our issues ... Mason and Will made a really good team! Bubba and his colleague Chad were professional and thorough in their review and inspection; the issues we are having were quickly diagnosed and a repair for the entry points into our home , as well as a treatment for the pests has been scheduled ... the pricing is reasonable and in comparison to other potential solutions, materially less expensive. We have been customers for more than 20 years and have every expectation of continuing to do business with Modern ... thank you TEAM BUBBA and CHAD!

I had 2 termite companies come to my house at different times to see what each one said. When Josh Moore came 2 days after the first company, I was very impressed. Josh did a more thorough inspection than the other person. He even came back another day to make sure every inch under my house was looked at since he thought he had not had enough time his first time. Josh let me know and showed me a picture of 4 baby raccoons that were in my chimney which the other termite inspector had not even seen. Jerry was very patient with my endless questions and answered them all very promptly. He was great to work with! He worked out a fair appraisal of the cost to do the structural repairs on our home, something I had been procrastinating for quite awhile due to my fear of the cost. One company told me $3200 minimum (maybe "price gouging") but Modern did a great job for $750. He mentioned the vapor barrier needed replacing, which I already knew. He offered a price $500 less than the HVAC company that installed the last one using the same supplies so I am awaiting an appointment. I have set up an ant spraying appointment and will use them next time I have structural repairs. The team leader, Tommy, even painted the new wood and panel, something I had offered to do to save money. The construction team was very professional and knowledgeable about their duties with the end product being very well done. Good people, fair pricing, good work! Would recommend to any friend or neighbor.

I recommend Modern Exterminating to anyone in Richland County area. I have never dealt with a more professional company or staff. I’m not sure exactly who was my main contact, I believe his name was Stephen but he answered all of my pest control questions. On second thought, I think he might be the regional manager. He came on short notice due to my hectic schedule, was able to make sure the billing date aligned best on the day for my budget, and answered all questions I had about the process. He started the process with a phone call once I inquired about the services they offered, scheduled a consultation, had a follow up, and has prevented all of my ant problems. This means so much as I am fatally allergic. To top it off, he followed up the next day with a phone call to make sure everything was going smoothly and brought my dog a milkbone on the second visit. I never write reviews about services but I am so pleased with the service as a first time home owner.

I have not previously had problems with this company. However a month ago I set my appointment up for a 9-12 window. I didn't receive any confirmation or reminder email or text. So, at 11:35 I called the office to see if there had been a mixup. The person I spoke to confirmed that the time was right and he would be there by 12. At 12:45 I called again and just got their answering service (they must have been at lunch). The person arrived at 1. He told me that his schedule said 1-3. I'm sure that wasn't the case as the office had confirmed with me that morning. Whatever went wrong, I feel that someone should have taken accountability and apologized. I should have received a phone call if he was running late. I blocked off my morning and then had to change my afternoon plans as well.

We’ve been using Modern Exterminating for over 3 years for insect control (spraying inside baseboards and outside perimeter). I tried doing this myself our first few months when we’d moved to South Carolina, but the home defense spray was ineffective. Modern’s spray is very effective. Their workers are always on time, and are polite and actually pleasant. First of all I would like to say that Modern Exterminating is incredible! Charlie Sims was my technician today and he was prompt, courteous, and reassuring. I’m terrified of bugs so much that now my two kids are afraid but he was so patient with my questions. He even moved a dead cockroach out of my view when he was treating the house (that’s how scared I am of them). We talked throughout the visit and it was like having a friend over. He even gave me tips on where I could get kids clothing and toys at a really low price. He also pointed out a water leak and told me who I could contact about it. Initial visit to replace termite stations showed complete disregard for landscaping and left piles of dirt on walkways and holes in beds - subsequent visits won’t address wasp nests when requested. Don’t seem to be as caring as previously used company. Just as an update, several months after my initial review, I received an offer from Jerry Henson, Director of Support Services for Modern Exterminating that if I removed the review posted above, I would be paid $100 either in cash or in services. Seems unprofessional and a very odd business practice.

She listens whenever she comes to any and all questions we have, and together we decide on a plan of action. She knows about my grandkids and is careful to use only super safe chemicals! Through the years, she has become a partner and friend. But yesterday, we called her about a problem we experienced when we returned home from our vacation. Cindy came the same day I called (yesterday) which I know must have been during her lunch time. She proceeded to do all the things necessary to rid us of the problem. She spent a great deal of time...fitting us into her already heavily scheduled day. She also gave us tips of things we cd do to further remedy any problems and prevent future ones...which we are implementing. I don't always take the time to write reviews like this as often as I should...but my husband and I felt that this was certainly a time when one of your employees definitely went "above and beyond" what needed to be done.
