If you’ve been looking for a perfect gym, this is the place. Enormous facility with all the specialized equipment you can dream of. Ski machines, rowers, tire flips, assault treadmills, bikes, every machine, weight and slam ball/wall ball under the sun. The gym is spotlessly clean. You can do personal training and small group training along with boot camp classes offered at multiple times throughout the day, every day of the week. A diverse group of trainers give you a different class and experience every time. Unlimited boot camp is included with small group and personal training and the price really can’t be beat. Owned by a husband/wife team, Mike and Letitia. Mike is a veteran Marine so be prepared for an intense class when he is instructing! Give this place a try. Great place to work out and you’ll quickly feel like family with the employees and other people there.

True Grit Fit has changed my life! Not with just with fitness but my overall confidence! I first started out with boot camp workouts but switched over to their personal training program,Kick Start, for a wedding with Letitia. Originally, I was only going to do the person training program for 3 months but quickly got addicted. Letitia has challenged me, motivated me, and pushed me to be my ultimate best in the gym. I feel like not only have I had personal fitness gains but I also gained ever lasting friendships at True Grit Fit. I am truly grateful for Letitia and every trainer at the gym! Truthfully, this place has changed my life! I grew up in an athletic family, played a collegiate sport, have always been stuck in the fitness world, but I always hated it. I started over a year ago with Letitia. I absolutely love her. A thank you to her will never be enough. She is everything I wanted and needed in a trainer. TGF has such a positive environment and killer workouts. I have made tremendous progress both physically and mentally since starting. TGF has done an awesome job curating their staff. I have noticed Eric is driving the transition from cardio-heavy workouts to more strength-focused workouts, which I personally appreciate. Shane, Gage, and BJ are great and lead great workouts. I've been into large group fitness training for about 7 years now - nothing has compared to True Grit. Every class, I am challenged both mentally and physically. Only two months into training and I can already see my body changing by becoming stronger and more toned. The trainers are fantastic and always push you to do your best - even when you think you can't, they're always there to make you realize just how strong you are. Also - I love how the gym is based off American pride!

I started with a month trial and within the first week, I knew I had found my gym. The trainers are all excellent, knowledgeable, encouraging (but not overly so), and create awesome workouts. The workouts are difficult, but can easily be modified for injuries or for more intense levels. The trainers styles are very different which makes each day at the gym a new experience. There is not a lot of engagement between participants which is fine by me because I really like to focus. Plus, it is very fast-paced so there isn’t time to be distracted by small talk! It is a very big gym which is GREAT because it never feels crowded. There is plenty of space to spread out which I love! I also like the military feel of the gym. While I do not have a personal connection to a military service I really appreciate honoring our soldiers and carrying the flag when we run.

TGF has surprisingly grown to be a big part of my life and routine. I have never been part of a gym community nor have I ever taken gym classes till recent. When I moved to Tampa I was looking for a place I could meet new people and be part of the community. To my surprise, TGF has developed way more than I bargained for. I have been going here almost 5 years now and I love this gym, their staff, and community! The managers and trainers are all SO great and each bring their own edge to the workout that they lead. Each boot camp workout is challenging and different— so I never get bored. Also, this is THE cleanest gym I have ever been to and they just remodeled (with brand new equipment too!) and it looks great! I also love how there are so many class times available... so I really don’t have an excuse to miss a workout! 20/10 would recommend!

I've been a member for several years at True Grit Fit and that says a lot considering I have been in a gym setting for the past 30 years. As far as the workouts, I couldn't be more pleased as they are always very different, challenging, and very well thought out by the trainer. The facility is very well maintained. I have never experienced a place with such a great balance of outstanding trainers, creativity in training methods, an unmatched array of equipment, and commitment to the membership (trainers are there and ready to push you to exceed your goals). True Grit Fit stays true to certain principles. They care about people. They care about the facility and the environment such that they are diligent in the area of cleanliness and overall appearance of the gym. They care about the greater community reflected in their partnerships and support of other organizations in Tampa that serve veterans, youth, and others. The great energy and atmosphere at True Grit Fit is a reflection of the owners Mike and Lateesha Tedford. They have built a great team and a great place to work toward goals (I love the fact that you may do traditional routines, but you may very well be required to do unconventional, unorthodox, “I can’t believe you’re asking me to do this” routines!!). I found a home and a family at True Grit Fit.

True Grit is an amazing Boot Camp / High intensity workout! Classes are never over booked and the gym is huge! You always have you personal space to warm up, workout, and cool down. The trainers walk through each workout and movement and give pointers as you go though the class. I went to Orange Theory for years and I have recently been tracking my “splat points” at True Grit. I am getting more splats with less cardio and more free weights at TGF. I highly recommend True Grit. Give it a go at a free workout and you do not need to buy any equipment to start :)

I have been attending Boot Camp classes at True Grit Fit for over a year now. I have tried many fitness facilities all around South Tampa and I wouldn’t trade my TGF membership for anything. Unlike other fitness locations you aren’t jammed in a small room with a bunch of sweaty people. Instead at TGF you have your space. TGF also has so much diverse equipment so every class feels different. You never get bored at True Grit Fit. The monthly membership option allows for so much flexibility. You never have to get nervous about having to fight your way into every class or worry if you have to cancel. Finally, the fitness instructors are the perfect mix of fun, challenging and helpful. You will enjoy every class. Two big thumbs (and biceps) up!

I highly recommend Eric to anyone looking for a trainer who will keep you accountable. Eric builds challenging 45 min workouts that get you results. I love TGF. I used to get very discouraged because after working out on my own for a few weeks, I would always end up stopping. It was hard to remain consistent. What I love about TGF is that the classes are exciting and new every day! I realized that I never stayed consistent working out on my own because it was boring! The trainers are so encouraging and help me with modifications for my arthritis when I need it. It's such a friendly and non judgmental environment. I burn at least 300 calories in the half hour noon class! And shout out to Ashley, Mallory, and Eric!!! The owners are amazing as well! Highly recommend!!!

I wake up early every morning excited to go workout at True Grit Fit! This gym goes above and beyond, has extremely personable trainers and staff, and challenges me to push myself each day during the Bootcamp classes! Throughout quarantine, TGF lent us equipment and posted videos online to keep their members motivated and engaged. Everyday is a new workout with a different trainer that provides new challenges. I've been attending TGF for just about a year now and I can definitely say this is one of the best gyms in the Tampa area. I am a former collegiate athlete and prior to TGF I was doing my own workouts out another gym. I found myself getting into the same routine over and over, and found myself coming to a plateau in terms of my fitness. True Grit has brought me back to my collegiate self. They are upbeat, challenging and adaptable to all ages and body types/injuries. I also work with Shane on the side and can say I am the strongest and fittest that I have ever been due to the workouts he creates for me. I love working out at True Grit!!! I started in 2014 and haven’t done the same workout since. The trainers are super knowledgable and personable and I love that anyone is welcome, regardless of their level of fitness. I recently injured my ankle. In each of the classes I have taken since trainers have helped me with modifications that allow me to stay active while my injury heals. Give this place a shot, you won’t be disappointed!

My friend has been going here for awhile and has a lot of experience with bootcamp style workouts, and fitness in general. I don’t. I’ve been to classes with each trainer, and all of them have created engaging and challenging workouts, they pay attention to the class and have noticed when I need help and guidance (most of the time before I even do :p), they’re people, family, and fitness oriented. I started going in January 2021. For those of you who are motivated by numbers: Female, 39 y/o, Height 4’11” January 2021 stats: Weight 158.2lbs, BMI 31.1, Body Fat 38.1%, Neck 14”, Shoulders 43”, Bust 41”, Waist 33”, Lower Abs 39”, Hips 42”, Biceps 12”, Thighs 24”, Waist-Hip ratio 0.82 May 2021 stats: Weight 145lbs, BMI 28.5, Body Fat 34%, Neck 13”, Shoulders 40”, Bust 37”, Waist 29”, Lower Abs 37”, Hips 38”, Biceps 11.5”, Thighs 22”, Waist-Hip ratio 0.77 I’ve lost just over 13lbs, but more importantly, I’ve lost 23 inches! I’m starting the kickstart personal training program and 8 week Mission Slimpossible challenge that begins June 2021. I’ll update this review with my results in August. This is a save the drama for your mama work out get results rinse repeat kinda place.

BEST GYM!!!!!! Have been going about two years. The trainers are knowledgeable, the classes are always different, the facility is clean, and it’s not a pretentious “have to wear full on hair and makeup” kind of place. You go so that you can sweat and have a great workout. It's a variety of exercises that requires use of all your muscles and no day is ever the same. They push you to the limit and challenge you everyday to reach your potential. I'm addicted !! True Grit Fit not only provides the best workout in town but they also have the best trainers - Mike, Letitia, Bj & Eric! All of them are so passionate about what they do that it transcends into their training. They are there to ensure you have the best workout experience possible. And if you happen to forget your shoes, they lend you their own.. I mean come on you won't see that in your average gym !! There is a true sense of community at TGF - and everyone you meet there is so incredibly welcoming and nice. You really feel like you're part of a team!!! I HIGHLY recommend giving this gym a try .. because the only risk is never wanting to leave.

By FAR the CLEANEST and BEST FITNESS studio in all of Tampa Bay!!!! The trainers are all very knowledgeable and encouraging. Workouts are challenging and fun !! Great equipment and great members. It's a non competitive environment. I love that the gym is a family ran business bc you can really tell the owners have so much passion for what they're do and along with the rest of the staff. Love this place and cannot say enough good things! I had taken an 8 month break from the gym when my wife gave birth and started here at True Grit in July 2015. I came in very out of shape, but attended their Bootcamp classes every day and within the first month I was already seeing amazing results! I am currently going through their Ignition program (which I won for free!), and it is awesome as well! I am noticing improvements every week. The staff here are all so vastly knowledgeable and friendly. Do not be discouraged at all, please. I believe the best thing here is that the workouts welcome people at ALL levels! Everyone works out at their own pace and the trainers are consistently providing constructive feedback and guidance on proper techniques and form. The workouts are ALWAYS different, so it never gets boring. The energy and positive vibes here just starts my day off right. It is not just the staff though, everyone here is very encouraging. Making the decision to join TGF was the best thing I’ve done for my health and well-being. Give it a try and you won’t regret it!

I was in the military for six years, and TGF has provided me the best workouts I've gotten since boot camp. I've been a traditional gym guy over the past 10-15 years (one muscle group per day with a 2-3 mile run) and probably plateaued long ago. Joining TGF has jump-started my fitness level and is probably the best health decision I've made in a while. The trainers are all tremendously helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. First walking in, you’d be certain you were walking into a typical “big box” gym, but you soon realize the personalization which is brought to you by this family owned and operated company. The trainers bring high energy and detailed attention to every class! To give context to the passion the owners have for SERVING their members, I’ve seen them arrive every morning hours before opening to setup the equipment for the workouts of the day; resetting equipment after every class. AND they fully clean the facility after the last members have left to ensure hygiene and appearance. Phenomenal atmosphere. Every day a different and challenging workout. Clean and socially distant in a huge facility with top-notch equipment. Many gyms may check one or more of these boxes, but TGF checks them all. Plus, Mike, Letitia, and all the staff put personality and a team mentality above everything else. Top notch workout! My husband and I love the entire staff and their workouts, and the group that attends is like a big family. The workouts are challenging, but are also at your own pace. I’ve been a member of True Grit for over 3 years now and love it! You’ll never do the same workout twice! Mike and Letitia do a great job and have the best equipment and coaches. True Grit has gone above and beyond during the coronavirus times. All the equipment is cleaned after each use and the gym is big enough to allow for social distancing. They even lent out equipment and provided virtual online bootcamps during the lockdown. Give True Grit a try..you won’t be disappointed!

True Grit Fit defiantly stays true to its name. I don't usually do reviews but for these gentleman I have to. My significant other told me about the boot-camp. The group-on price was phenomenal considering what you get for it. The facility is well kept and up to date w/ all equipment. Everyday is something different as well as new members; which makes for great synergy. The trainers are excellent and kept me motivated and inspired me throughout all sections to complete each one. This is probably by far the only boot-camp that takes me back to BCT in the Army. Even though my stay was short I re-gained the mental and physical strength I need to persevere in fitness. I also sweated away a couple of lbs for sure. I could honestly say if I ever reside in FL this would be my home gym no matter the cost. As a member you defiantly see results as long as you put in the grit and sweat. - SPARTAN.

Checked out True Grit Fit with a friend after they re-opened post COVID shutdown and have been hooked since. There's a different workout everyday of the week, and the trainers compliment the ownership well. Jumped in as a Kickstart client with Eric Bill for a few months as well and was very satisfied with the progress. The daily bootcamp classes are fun and upbeat, with a little competition and push, all while being spread out, and safe. The ownership and trainers go out of their way to make sure everything is cleaned between stations and classes.

However, I realized that with crossfit I wasn't seeing the physical results I desired and my significant other persuaded me to try TGF. It was the best decision and I haven't looked back! I go for health reasons and this is the best and most fit I have been in my life thanks to True Grit Fit. I have been a member of several gyms and is this by far the best. Been going here for about 2 years...3-4x a week...and my wife and I absolutely love it. It's the rare gym that has something for everyone: weight loss, strength building, recovery, womens classes, and even Special Olympics athletes training. Most importantly: it's safe. Safe for both genders, anyone from anywhere, those with disabilities, and military backgrounds. I adore all their trainers, who bring something unique to each lass. Finally, this is the only gym I've ever seen that WANTS its members to come in, get healthier, and feel good about themselves. They will literally hound you to stay on target, are open over holidays, and run endless free special events. It's no surprise they just opened a second location up in Carrollwood. I updated this review to reflect how thrilled I remain with this gym a year after prior review. I'm 40 plus not the most social guy, but legitimately made friends here...people who support my goals...and are of like healthy lifestyle mind. Just note it does NOT have AC at this location. Be hydrated, toweled, and prepared.

We just got married last weekend and I cannot thank Eric enough. We both have gotten stronger, leaner and fitter. We love working with Eric and seeing the progress we have made. Mike, Eric, BJ, Letitia, and the entire True Grit family are excellent at motivating the members and providing high-octane work-out regimens which are different every time, keeping it engaging! My wife and I are in our second month and we are loving it! For the last 12 years I’ve been trudging in and out of the traditional gym 2-4 times a week doing the standard exercises and routine, which is boring and ineffective (for myself at least). At the end of every hour spent in the TGF gym, I’m left covered in sweat, panting, utterly exhausted. It’s intense and grueling, and I always leave satisfied. Being 9 years removed from a daily DI college athletic routine, finding the motivation and drive to continue to stay fit was difficult for my husband and I. We had joined different gyms in hopes to find something that we would look forward to, and give us goals to stay in shape. We got stuck in rut and were not seeing any physical or mental changes. We did some research and came across True Grit Fit. We liked the idea of having workouts similar to what we were both used to in college as well as having someone to push us each day. Additionally, we appreciate the group fitness piece of having people get together each day because it holds us accountable to show up. A few months after joining the gym, Mike and Letitia began implementing a run club. We thought it would be fun to do in addition to the boot camps and lifting, especially since that’s the type of training we were used to. Over the last couple of weeks, we have really noticed the benefits of doing the boot camps and running. We feel as though we have made substantial gains in our fitness. I have been able to maintain a healthy weight while toning and my husband has been able to lose weight and gain muscle. Mallory comes up with some challenging runs but always brings a crazy amount of positive energy that helps keep us all going. She makes the runs fun by incorporating different activities like lunges, push ups and stairs. Each month the distance starts lower and works its way up over the course of the 4 weeks. It is rewarding to see how you can go further and further each week. We are grateful for being part of a gym like TGF!

I've been a member now for about 8 months. I've NEVER done the same workout twice. Which is crazy!! I'm always challenged yet they make it comfortable to modify based on your fitness level or injuries. The other members are all ages, shapes and levels and they are super friendly and fun to work out with. Translation - not intimidating! Husband and wife owners, Mike and Letitia, and trainer, Eric, are the best! They take great pride in keeping the workouts exciting and fun. They use various types of exercise equipment- TRX, medicine balls, kettle bells, bosu, sliders (just to name a few). Plus the facility is CLEAN! I'm a germaphobe ;) Finally, there is ample parking (DO NOT park in the few spots labeled "no parking" because those neighbors will tow). Come check it out! They are always offering great monthly deals to new members as well as free workout events usually about once a month.

About six months ago a friend and I decided to check out TGF South Tampa’s free Saturday morning class, we were hooked from that moment on. I really enjoyed the family and athlete mentality of the gym. Letitia, Mike and Caleb have put their hearts and souls into this gym, it is amazing to see how hard working and dedicated this family is, you want to support them for that alone. However, they have surrounded themselves with trainers who believe in their mission to be never stagnant, and offer never boring workouts. Each trainer offers a different flair to their workouts; from Mallory’s strength, Jeff’s agility and Eric perfectly combining cardio, strength and focus based workouts, each day offers a new challenge. For 2018 we decided that we needed to get our fitness lives back in order, so we took on the 8 week Mission SLIMPOSSIBLE. Provided with a meal plan, strength training work outs, additional weekly work outs we set out on our mission. What I loved about this challenge, is that you had to want it for yourself, all you had to do was show up. A trainer was always available to answer a question, or to just tell you to go put back that 12ibs and pick up a 20ibs instead. The group workouts were hard, physically and emotionally, but your sense of accomplishment after working out for 3 deadly hours on a Saturday and somehow coming out the next side alive was pretty great. The coaches knew when to push to get one more rep, one more run, but they also knew when to say, “I know this sucks, but you are almost there.” Though we only set out to get ourselves out of our rut, we were so happy with the results, and now truly feel integrated into the TGF family. I wholeheartedly recommend TGF to anyone who has the guts to push themselves harder than average and wants somewhere to work out that is simply not going to settle for you being mediocre.

I absolutely love this place and the people!!! My son and daughter in law raved about it for months before I actually went. What I love about TGF are the dynamic and different workouts. They are never the same and you are always challenged. I find that I have more energy on the regular and have actually noticed my body transforming. I am 50 something, so for me weight loss has not been fast. Recently, I was part of a group called mission slim possible which educated the group not only in exercise but the importance of diet and meal prep. Over an 8 week period, I lost more weight than I did in working out 6 months prior to coming to TGF. The trainers Mike, Letitia, Eric, and BJ are amazing! They are the real deal! They are very personable and legitimately want to help you meet your goal of being the best you. They will correct your form when needed and will push you when needed as well but they have your best interests in mind! In addition to that, the TGF community is a group of super friendly and very encouraging group of people unlike any other gym I have been to. Every one wants to see every one succeed. No REALLY! Great workouts at this studio! I’ve had trainers Steve, Mallory, and Rebecca, and they’re all very motivating and positive! The workouts will seem simple at first, but as you progress through, you will definitely feel your body working hard. They are available on class pass, which is how I found them, but their monthly membership is also fairly affordable! $36 for the first month! Try them out on classpass if you’re hesitant to commit!

I’ve been eying TGF for about 2 years now... yes, the thought of a “bootcamp” type workout is what I knew I needed/wanted to “go to the next level” if you will, but I was scared. Scared of failing, being left behind and possibly not having someone care enough. This said, I finally signed up and from the first day I felt welcome. I was shy at first, but honestly no one really cares what you do and how you do it (referring to the other members) because there’s just no time to “sit around” lol. The coaches I’ve seen so far, have been very helpful and make sure to explain things thoroughly. They make sure to look at everyone to ensure safety and proper posture as well as pushing you to go beyond what you think you’re capable of. the place is clean and full of so much energy that even when you’re tired and feel like quitting, you see that everyone around you is struggling along side you. The equipment is great and well kept. Overall I’m loving it and I can see myself staying with TGF for a while.

I’ve been working with Eric in Kick Start for the past 6 months. My progress was very slow to start - I struggled to balance a work schedule that had me traveling every weekend in addition to the 9-5 and the challenges of making smart decisions while out with friends. I have been doing kickstart and working with one of the trainers, Abby for just a few months now and I have to say she’s been amazing! She’s done everything from helping me with my diet, pushing me to lift a lot heavier, and fixing my form with just about every exercise! She’s so detail oriented that she totally fixed my squats by making literally a 1 inch adjustment with my foot placement! I’m amazed that she can watch me for a few reps and automatically sees something very minor I’m doing that makes a huge impact! I thought I was just very weak when it came to my squats however, her minor adjustments actually showed me I just had jacked up form and I’m actually stronger than I thought lol.. I think her knowledge of physical therapy, lifting, and nutrition make her a, “1 stop shop” so to speak when it comes to a trainer! In college and in law school I packed on pounds due to lack of exercise, poor diet and drinking. I tried many times to lose the weight with weight lifting and what I thought was a good diet. Over a year ago I started working out at True Grit Fit and my struggle became so much easier. I quickly fell in love with the place, but more importantly with the people there, who truly care and want you to succeed in your fitness goals. They push you each and every work out and hold you accountable. It's readily apparent that their goal is to help you be the best version of yourself you can be. They have given me so much useful advice and tips that have helped me immeasurably in my fitness journey. I am in the best shape I have been since I was a high school athlete. I have gone to True Grit Fit 4-5 times per week for 9 months and I have yet to repeat the same work out twice (unless I chose to stay for another bootcamp after I was done with the first, which is something I never imagined I would want to do by choice). They make challenging and calorie torching work outs fun. Recently, I participated in True Grit Fit's Mission Slimpossible competition. I did not know what to expect, because I had tried to lose weight in the past, but I bought into Mike and Letitia's program. Just by following the diet they provided and working out consistently, I lost 25 pounds in 8 weeks. No that is not a typo. If you had told me a year ago that I could accomplish that, I would have laughed in your face. But with their help, as well as the support of my competitors and the other members of True Grit Fit, I accomplished a huge goal. Finally, as the son and grandson of veterans, I am proud to support a local veteran-owned business that I truly believe in.
