The perfect combination of extremely knowledgeable personal training and a gym with cool vibes.
Working with Steven has been an excellent asset for my journey towards better health and a stronger, more stable body. I have lifted for many years, often under the tutelage of coaches and sports trainers, but I really see my time in the gym as split between before and after my time working intensively with Steven.
The number of things I have learned from Steven is inumerable, whether it be anatomical tidbits that help me decode my pain responses, specific cues to use to help me through unstable/troublesome movements, or just overall mindset modifications to bring to the gym for optimal results and success.
Would highly recommend for anyone of any skill level.

I had been looking for a personal trainer in Seattle for a while and tried a few different places and couldn't be more happier with semi-personal sessions with Steven. I get to do workouts tailored for me with a lot of personal input and advice to go through them. The focus is on the form and doing things correctly and slowly than churning out reps which I really appreciate. It’s a great environment with a small group, so it doesn’t feel enterprisy or overwhelming.

Steven and the DFM staff put great effort to create an individual plan that works for everyone. A year ago, I had a shoulder dislocation that needed surgery. But with Steven's help, I was able to continue strength training in a safe environment that let me focus on areas outside my injured arm. I believe this helped speed up my recovery as I reached full range of motion with no pain just 3-4 months after surgery. Now, one year later, I’m training both arms again with no issues and I feel healthier than I have in years. I feel proud of my results thus far which friends and family have also noticed. Steven puts an incredible amount of care into his work and it shows. The knowledge he has on technique is rock solid and you can really feel the difference when you a make the right adjustments. Steven has been my saving grace during the pandemic. I started training in the summer of 2021, and I am so proud to be his client. Every Tuesday/Thursday, I start my day off right by working out in the gym, meeting goals, and feeling great. I appreciate his approach to rest and output. With Steven, we had a gradual approach of getting incrementally better and making sure I was monitoring my stress. The semi-private training is both rigorous and fun, and he checks every detail to make sure your form is perfect before moving on.

I started working out with Steven 4 years ago and I can't believe it's been that long. I took a break for a little while and have been for about 8 months now. It's been another great experience.
I work out in a small group setting with Steven who writes me a customized plan every week that is personalized to me. The group is small and he always finds a way to observe and give me critical feedback that's greatly improved my form and execution while lifting heavy weights. I'm deadlifting and squatting without back pain, something I never thought I would be able to do. He can look at me perform a movement and give me pointers on how to improve it and it's spot on and easy to understand. It's pretty amazing. The other people in the group are also friendly and amiable and at all levels of fitness. We laugh while we work out, but we work out hard and motivate each other. It's a lot of fun.
Steven doesn't just focus on lifting, he's also happy to discuss nutrition, sleep, and other factors of taking care of your body. With his guidance, I've lost over 23lbs in the last 90 days and I look and feel the best I have in a while. After I hit my target weight, the goal is to put on muscle and Steven's already laid out an easy to understand guidelines on how I can achieve that. It's hard work and it takes effort, and it's such a great feeling knowing that someone's as excited for you to reach your goals as you are.
I can't wait to never wear a shirt in public ever again!

I started working with Steven 2.5 years ago, initially in person for private sessions, and then did his semi-private classes. From the start, I was hooked. He's created an amazing, welcoming culture at his gym. I learned so much about safe, efficient movement, as well as nutrition and noticed meaningful changes in my body. I've since moved out of Seattle but still work with Steven remotely on my workout programming. Because of Steven, I can now independently and confidently walk into a gym on my own and get an impactful workout in. He stays aligned with my goals and checks in with me on my progress, and makes himself available via text if I have any questions about anything on my program. I've been working out in Steven's small group training sessions for just over a year. I have been a member at many gyms in the past but would never go because I had no idea what to do and little motivation to get into a routine of regularly working out. Last fall, I finally wanted to break that habit and form a new one of regularly working out and strength training. When I saw Steven was opening his own training space, I reached out to him and scheduled a time to meet and do a functional fitness test.
At the end of the test, I was asking questions and asked a specific question about my shoulders, and as he answered, it was immediately apparent how much knowledge and expertise he had. It reassured me that I was making the right choice in working with Steven, and I can say that has only been re-affirmed after working with him this past year.
Steven's education and knowledge let him develop and cater his training to your goals and needs. His passion for fitness and seeing his clients succeed and achieve their goals is evident every time I come to the gym. The small group training sessions are a great way to get that individualized attention and expertise without having someone standing over you your entire workout counting your reps. Steven's other clients I have met over the last year are great people, and Davis Fitness Method is a great community.

He’s helped me understand that baby steps are the best way to make scalable and long term adjustments to my overall well-being, and I’m so appreciative of that. Ohhhh my goodness what CAN’T I say about the quality, passion, understanding and hard work from Coach Steven (Davis)!!! He’s incredibly knowledgeable about human physiology. He’s committed himself to actually “doing the work” to understand human movements and any and all muscles involved in those movements so that when coaching ensues no movement is implemented that goes against the actual movement of said muscle(s)!! Simply put, the MF is amazing. I have knee issues and wasn’t able to squat to save my friggin life. 2 months of strict instruction online (and in person) and I’m now squatting a solid 225lbs for reps. It’s not much for my size but it’s a whole lot better than nothing!! I wholeheartedly appreciate Steven’s “build you up from the the bottom” approach. And you will as well if you stay patient and actually listen to his tried and proven Davis Fitness Method!! Lol, I friggin love these guys!!

I've been going to Davis Fitness Method for almost 6 months at this point. I've got nothing but positive things to say about Steven and the team here. The team is extremely friendly and knowledgeable and they are great at helping you reach your goals and tailor your exercises to reach them.
Anecdotally, I had injured my shoulder about a year before going to Davis Fitness Method, and had residual pain that would crop up while lifting sometimes. I had informed Steven of this and he factored this into my exercise routine. These days I can't even remember the last time I felt that pain and instability while lifting. I'm not saying that Steven will cure all types of this pain, but I think he knows how to work around it and make it so that you know how to lift more safely moving forward.

I first met Steven after my personal trainer in Seattle had moved away; I was supposed to workout with him only during that short visit, one of my constant stops in the city (my home base where I hardly spend time these days). Every session with Steven is different and capitalizes on a mix of equipment, and even more important, on your own body weight. He listens well to your needs, and as I already suggested, he's both educational and supportive. I can't recommend him enough to anyone seeking a personal trainer, no matter your fitness level. When I first started out, Steven was training out of an unmarked basement that had no heat. The fact that I went somewhere with no heat in Seattle in the winter months at 6am 3 times a week should be a testament in itself, but I will continue...
Steven truly cares about his clients and their fitness journeys -- whatever they may be. I started from truly square one -- trying to figure out how to push my hips back for a deadlift felt like someone asked me to do long division in my head.
I've come so far since those early days. I have a whole new knowledge base of lifting form, muscle groups, nutrition, and more. I can confidently lift more than my body weight in some exercises, and I had to go down a size in my jeans.
Steven has also come far -- he now has his own gym, and it is heated AND air conditioned.

It's not just that he is an expert in the field (and always looking to improve and learn more) but his level of commitment and passion is top notch. I'd always been a runner, but never really learned how to build strength or lift weights. Part of it was just being busy with work and school and part of it was just the intimidation of entering a gym and lifting things while feeling like I had no idea what I was doing.
I've been training with Steven for over 3 months now, and it is one of the best decisions I have ever made. Steven dispelled any sense of anxiety I had about the gym and my own strength level and got me started with a program that was challenging, yet achievable. I'm stronger and there is a noticeable difference in how I move and feel. I find myself eager to go to the gym. Part of it is the fitness routine that Steven helps me work through, but part of it is also his personality. He's always very supportive and encouraging and he has a great sense of humor. He's responsive via text and when work has gotten in the way of my schedule, he's been very understanding. It's kept me motivated to stay on schedule and take care of myself.

From our first interaction - a mobility assessment - I knew working with Steven was going to be different. His programming took into account not just my goals, but also my unique limitations and abilities. Steven, even before I was a client, was a wealth of information for me. Everything from diet tips to form education, Steven found a way to present information in an easily digestible, and accessible format that helped me become a better powerlifter and athlete.
As a coach, Steven brings it to another level. I found his knowledge and skill set very intimidating at first; but soon realized that Steven’s warmth and patience were just as much part of his coaching style as his advanced techniques. I was interested in starting rugby and had a menagerie or goals, each of which he helped me hit with surgical precision. My resting heart rate went down to below 80 for the first time in my life, my blood pressure dropped to well within normal levels, and lost 23 pounds while maintaining my hard earned strength with his guidance.
If you want to get stronger, jump higher, run faster, eat better, feel better, look better, and most importantly be a better person, Steven is a great place to start.
He has become someone I look forward to seeing, and talking to, asking for his insight and learning from his own education. He is the best coach I’ve ever had, and probably will ever have.

I've been into fitness for over a decade. Hitting the gym, lifting, cardio, diet. Tried all the shortcuts and hacks; Atkins, keto, intermittent fasting- all with varying degrees of success. Never have I seen the results that I've seen with Steven. The dude takes all comers, listens to your goals, and delivers results. Period. I challenge anyone to find a more knowledgeable, more inspiring, more skilled trainer than Steven.
You know those trainers you see at your gym who look sloppy and soft and you wonder if they've ever even worked out and do all the helicopter coaching standing right over you but can't tell you why it is you're doing what you're doing?? Well Steven is the exact opposite. He's ripped and can answer just about any question about what he has you doing and why he has you doing it.
He's not going to watch your every single set of every single exercise; but he's going to watch you until you get it right, guide you towards corrections, and continue to tweak and adjust your workout as you progress.
If you like to geek out on fitness (like me) he can tell you all about FRC or Palumboism or why certain diets haven't been working out for you.
He's also just a cool, kind, down to Earth and humble person who I've never seen or heard make anyone feel stupid or bad for not knowing something about fitness.
Like with anything else, you'll get out of it what you put into it. Steven is like one of those big corporate 401K plans; he'll match your effort every step of the way. You give a hundred, he'll give you a hundred. You reach out via text, he'll reply. You need him to accommodate an issue (and you're polite about it), he's got your back.
You got an injury? Think you CAN'T do something? I've had "back/hip issues" for years. Never thought I could do a squat or a deadlift. Nah son, Steven helped me with that too.
The environment is CLEAN (can't stress that enough), SAFE (mask and temperature check required), and it's fun.
Without a doubt working with Steven and the Davis Fitness Method has been an amazing experience. I've learned more in 5 months than I have in 15 years listening to every meathead I've come across in the gym who thought they could teach me something just because they could bench 250.
I know I've written too much but dude has literally reignited my passion for fitness and working out in way I didn't think possible.
The best gift you can give yourself is good health and a great body. I've been at this since I was 22 (I'll be 40 in December) and investing in the RIGHT personal trainer is the best decision I've ever made.

I’m not usually the type of person who writes reviews but with the experience I’ve had at the Davis Fitness Method it’s hard to keep quiet! Steven and Jasmine make the environment so welcoming and for an introvert who had zero gym confidence, this was life changing! Jasmine has been my Personal Trainer for 3 months now and she’s really taken the time to teach/educate me well enough during our in-person training sessions, so that when I go to my home gym I have the knowledge of what I’m doing and why I’m doing it. Having a program made specifically for my body and an app that is easy to navigate was a total game changer! No more wandering around the sea of machines/weights wondering if I’m doing this right or if I should even be doing this. Simply, here’s what you have to do, the reason why, get it done, and be on your merry way. I am seeing (& loving) the results of the goals we had set and it’s safe to say that I’m very pleased and happy with the overall experience.

I started seeing Steven due to health problems that needed to get in check. I didn’t know what to expect, but he very much exceeded my expectations.
I started out doing 3 one on one sessions a week. They were difficult, but never intimidating. He would point out faults in my form and really stressed how important good form was to prevent injuries.
I have now moved on to programming. He cooordinates and documents workouts for me weekly, and I can choose how often I want to have a one on one session. I work full-time and in grad school full-time, so I can’t make it to the gym often. To remedy this, he creates workouts I can do from home using kettle bells and body weight.
I didn’t know much about exercising and fitness before meeting Steven. He has important certifications, and a ridiculous amount of knowledge that he continuously pours onto his clients. Everything about Davis Fittness Method is excellent and genuine.

Jasmine as been so helpful getting me started from zero in my fitness abilities. I started out very low weights with no understanding of how to tell if I was using the right muscles or not. She showed me the form in a way I could understand and as I got the hang of each new activity, she helped me see when to go up in weight while still maintaining the right form. She is very sweet, inviting and professional. I travel from Arlington to Seattle for work but even if I don’t have any appointments in Seattle, I gladly make the drive. I don’t want to work out anywhere else.

I cannot thank Steven enough for all that he helped me accomplish in the past year and a half. I’m a healthy, activity person (30 years old) and unfortunately developed Rheumatoid Arthritis a few years ago in my feet and my elbow. This made it really difficult for me to continue my normal workout routines and regimen. I started working with Steven in the fall of 2018 and I am now stronger and more fit than I was before the arthritis started.
He is extremely knowledgeable and flexible with fitness, diet and mind set. Because of the arthritis in my feet and elbow, it made things a little tricky with our one-on-one workout sessions because I couldn’t do a lot of the “normal” PT exercises. Steven basically invented a whole bunch of exercises and workout routines to help strengthen the areas around my arthritis. I essentially couldn’t lift any weight when we started and now I’m working with more weight than I ever have (even before the arthritis flared up). He’s set me up to now workout on my own and also serves as a great resource if I ever need to check in with questions or add new things to my workouts. He’s a great person to work with – fun, energetic, informative, and kicks your butt when you need it most. I’d recommend his personal training to anyone!

I’ve been seeing Steven since 1/1/19. This is the first time in my life that I’ve stuck with going to the gym as long as I have and it’s all thanks to Steven. He makes the workouts engaging so I don’t lose interest. I told him I wanted to start boxing so he incorporated that into my workouts. I want to get lean so he customized a workout routine for me to achieve my goal. When I’m having a bad day he’ll let me cry it out and adjust my workout accordingly. He cares about my overall well-being and doesn’t force me to do things I’m uncomfortable with. If I can’t do a certain lift we make adjustments or figure out a different lift I can do. He never puts me down and he’s always there encouraging me to do better. Highly recommended for people like me who struggle with finding the motivation to go to the gym and want to do something more than a 30min treadmill run. I’ve never been as fit as I am currently and I can’t wait to see how my body changes as I continue working on my current goal!
