My trainer Ash is incredible. She’s so kind and friendly, as are all the people I’ve encountered at StudioX. I never feel judged and I don’t feel self-conscious. I enjoy feeling like I don’t have to compare myself to anyone. StudioX meets you where you are on your exercise journey and helps you to get further on your journey with patience and directions. I highly, highly recommend StudioX.

The trainers are great, the workouts have a lot of variety. StudioX has consistently adapted to the times by offering new types of workouts and different formats (onsite and online scheduled classes, plus digital assets you can use on-demand). For those who are ready to be onsite as well as for those who want to comfort of working out from anywhere there are lots of options. The gym (even before the pandemic) has always been kept super clean and well stocked with equipment and supplies. So, even though the gym is not large enough to have showers, they offer lots of ways to freshen up before you head out to the world if desired. It takes less than an hour to pop in for a class and get a tough yet efficient workout that makes you feel good all day. Tim Irwin (owner) runs a great business and it always interested in member feedback and applies it swiftly.

I have absolutely no commercial or other affiliation with Studio-X. I've been a member for ~6 years. With that disclaimer noted, I absolutely and unhesitatingly recommend this facility because: Studio-X is a "micro gym" and not a chain franchise. As such, it provides outstanding personal attention from a highly trained, professional, friendly and motivated staff. The facility is immaculately clean. In addition to its specialty (on-site personal training), it offers a variety of online classes throughout the day and the trainers monitor participants and provide suggestions and alternatives to every exercise. Periodically, Studio-X has special "Challenge" sessions directed toward cardio/endurance, weights, etc. Membership costs, especially given the variety of classes and range of equipment, are very reasonable: in fact, they are a bargain. In summary, this is a superior exercise gym/studio and it's enthusiastically recommended.

These are the reasons I give Studio X Fitness a 5 star rating: The variety of classes and types of workouts. The trainers are skilled and friendly. They are attentive and will give feedback on form and technique. They adapted well from in-person to at-home workouts. They are welcoming to new and returning clients. Trainers adapt workouts to the type of equipment folks have at home. Studio X gives clients the option to work out in a live class or on your own time with on-demand virtual classes. The workouts are tough, yet adaptable to fit individual needs and abilities. Everyone is helpful and goes above and beyond to support clientele. I’m grateful to Studio X for hanging in there during the pandemic and continuing to be the best gym in the Portland area.

I'm currently doing THE CHALLENGE, and I am loving it. The live zoom classes may not be conveniently scheduled, but they are recorded and made available for me to watch at a time that is convenient for me. The program has been well-planned, though the execution has lacked a smooth start due to small communication and technical issues. The trainers are the best part of this experience. They are some of the most enthusiastic and lively individuals I have ever met. Even through the recording, their personality is magnetic and contagious. I would point, though, that the guys are more difficult to hear (understand). It would be helpful if they slowed down when speaking, enunciated while speaking, and speak louder or more emphatically. Overall, I am more than happy to tell everyone I know about this great gym my partner has introduced me to. Keep up the energy, and thank you for providing THE CHALLENGE!

Studio X is “simply the best”! I’ve been a member for 5 years now and it would be tough to find a gym that puts more effort into the client experience than Tim and Dean do on a daily basis. We’ve very much appreciated the virtual workouts during Covid and are so happy that they’re slowly rolling out in person classes now! The Covid measures are so thoughtful and they specifically ensure that everyone feels comfortable which I appreciate so much. The trainers are all incredible and the group classes are always challenging yet accessible with a ton of variety, but the structure is familiar enough that you know what you’re getting yourself into. The classes are tailored to all levels and abilities, so newcomers feel super welcome. My husband and I can’t say enough good things about Studio X and are SO glad that we’re coming to the other side of the pandemic with them still here! This is a small business to proudly support.

I’ve been going to this gym for 1.5 months (twice a week) and have nothing but good things to say. Very welcoming gym. All the employees are very sweet and highly trained (shout out to Molly, Hallie, Blair & Charissa who I’ve personally worked with and are great!) They truly want to help everyone of different shapes and sizes get healthy and in shape. I go to the group classes (jacked+burn & abs+burn) and yoga. Every class is a little different so classes stay interesting and you don’t end up doing the same boring workout routine over and over again. With the smaller classes the instructors are able to walk around and help you adjust your form to make sure you are doing to movements safely and correctly to get the most out of the workout. I really appreciate how they walk around giving personal feedback to people instead of calling people out in front of the whole class. Im relatively new to working out and still am gym shy, but I feel comfortable at this gym. Also, the gym is spotless and kept up very well. Going twice a week (1 group class & 1 yoga class) I started seeing improvements to my body very quickly. After the first couple weeks I already feel stronger and look leaner. I 100% recommend this gym to everyone and anyone!

StudioX instructors are so welcoming and encouraging -- and all of them offer a wide variety of challenging (sometimes very challenging) workouts. I'm especially grateful for the live online classes. Being able to get a good workout at home is helping me stay sane during these months of social distancing!

Love this gym! The trainers are all absolutely amazing and so motivating. I appreciate the live virtual classes offered during COVID because I am one of those people that needs external accountability, and if I sign up for a live class, I’ll actually commit and go. Can’t wait for in-person classes again. (Get vaccinated everyone!)

Experienced, fun and authentic trainers (they practice what they teach), Private gym not a huge franchise type so they limit each class to about 10 people. Workouts are superb and trainers focus a lot on proper form with everyone. I came in with very little workout training and didn’t feel judged at all with where I was starting from. Their package options rock!

The space and vibe are incomparable. The instructors are motivating and helpful. And they offer massage and acupuncture on site. I've had nothing but amazing experiences here at StudioX. The classes are smaller than other studios I've been to, ranging from 5-15. With that size, you get to really know the community and the instructors can really make sure everyone gets the attention they need. The different mix of classes offered is also an amazing plus, as with each membership you can sign up for any variety of classes you'd like. The gym is small, but clean, which isn't an issue since the class sizes tend to be smaller as mentioned before. Yoga, cardio, boxing, they got it all.

I’ve been coming to this gym for about five weeks now and I absolutely love it. I really don’t have a favorite trainer, all the ones I work with bring their own charisma and knowledge (and amazing soundtracks — you will never hear bro dub step) to class. Even though I only go a few times a week it’s a great community and people of all ages come here.

Every single member of the staff are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. The class structure is great and the equipment and workout area is clean and well taken care of. I have zero concern when i workout here about MRSA or malfunctioning equipment like i do at other gyms. The only issue I really have is the availability of parking in the area but of course there is not studio X's problem and nothing they really could do about it anyway. Besides, having to walk a block or two after a workout is good for you!

Studio X is the first gym I have ever been able to attend with any consistency. The trainers are good at what they do and marvelously supportive. The workouts are challenging and easily modifiable, if you need a little less or a little more. I cannot recommend this gym strongly enough!

Loved working with Nathaneil for personal training. I was not able to finish my sessions with him due to an unrelated injury, but he was very accommodating when I did see him. He is also extremely respectful, listens well, and pays great attention to detail to make sure I was using proper body mechanics and form. I enjoyed learning a lot of different tools and ways to exercise, and especially appreciated his focus on balance and body awareness. I just wish I hadn't gotten injured so I could continue! Also, the gym is lovely and always felt like a comfortable place to work out. I would definitely recommend this place!

Veronica truly cares and pours her heart and soul into helping me reach my goals. Her special blend of humor along with hard training sessions has changed my life for the better. I laugh as much as I sweat, which is a ton. :) I look forward to working out now and it has become a consistent part of my self-care routine and something I now crave when I take a day or two off. My experience with this place has been fantastic. The online registration system keeps me accountable to my workout, while also making reservations a breeze. The trainers were ready to work with me as a newbie, providing clear instruction and awesome motivation. The classes and instructors are great. There is a nice variety of options, from heavy lifting, to HIIT, to yoga. The times are convenient too, there are classes offered later in the evening (7, 8), which is great for folks that work until 6. I came to the studio after years of CrossFit training and injuries. I feel like I can get a solid workout here and push myself, with less risk of injury. Of all the classes, Grit is my favorite. I wish they offered it 3-4 times a week instead of 2!

I've been going here for 4 years and have never looked back, never regretted a dollar spent, never had a bad class, never had a bad interaction with the owner - who is on site a ton - never seen the place messy or dirty or unkempt. I started out of shape and was quickly whipped into shape. I never regret going - even on cold, dark winter mornings. I enjoy the classes and the variety brought by the different instructors but also by each instructor from class to class. If you are looking for a place to slam weights around and make loud grunting noises while high-fiving your bro over your sweet new PR while mocking other lesser mortals around you, this is not the place for you. if you are a normal person who just wants a great workout in a group setting or a great yoga class, this is the place for you. I am sure the personal training is really good but I have never had a session. The personal trainers also teach classes though, and I can say that based on that I am certain the personal training is also fantastic.

I've only taken one class (Drench, with Pavel) but I liked the pace, the modifications, and the energy he brought! He welcomed each person individually and checked in throughout. Even though we weren't there in person I felt encouraged to try hard because I could tell he was working hard too. After the free drench class I took, I bought a monthly pass!

I am a little hesitant to leave a review for StudioX... Not because this place deserves anything less than 5 stars, but because I'm selfish and not sure I want to share what I've found! I've tried my share of gyms and studios around town, but nothing compares to what StudioX has to offer. A diverse portfolio of classes, knowledgeable & friendly instructors, and an inviting atmosphere to get your sweat on. Lastly, I really appreciate how much effort they put into keeping the gym and equipment clean and sanitized! Bravo and keep it up!

I was in Portland on business and decided to try out StudioX at the recommendation of a friend. I'm now officially hooked and will be back every time I'm back in town! The studio/gym was stocked with all the best toys, from air assault bikes, to kettlebells. The workout was well planned, explained, and executed from start to finish. AND, the instructor and students were beyond welcoming. For anyone serious about fitness and having fun in the process, StudioX is the place in Portland for you!
