Terrific staff at this YMCA. Super nice and caring. Today, they went above and beyond to help me find my missing prescription eyeglasses. Love, love, love! I like it that the pool is reasonably warm (kids still shiver a little), and the cardio room is pretty darn good! Personally, I don't play basketball, but those who do seem to be pretty happy.

The most reliable place in Philly! I sincerely love this gym - the people, the facilities, the quality of machines, weights, and beyond. I’ve been to LA Fitness, Retro, City Fitness, and a few other indie gyms. They don’t hold a candle to the Y (which I never thought I’d say haha). I appreciate a strong sense of community, and this place is exactly that. I look forward to going daily.

One of the best YMCA that I've been too. After swimming at Drexel pool for years I switched to the Y in Roxborough after moving out of the city to Penn Valley Two years ago . Friendly staff, Clean and chill . A real community gym and pool . The Havertown place is about 5 minutes closer to my house but after trying both I preferred this one for many reasons.

Very nice Fitness Center with a great inventory of equipment. Always clean. Staff is friendly and professional. The pool situation is a bit cramped. Don't expect to swim uninterrupted if you plan on doing laps. There should be more time dedicated to adults only. Also there appears to be no family changing rooms. The kiddos will be in the locker rooms all day.

The swim instructor Kyle is great. He has patience and has good tips and instructions to help swimmers progress each class. However, I have a negative experience too. The pool water is kept too cold/cool which makes it difficult for a beginner swimmer to be comfortable in the water. Yes it's summer, but the pool water is still too cool. I took my first swim class here, this past winter session in January through February and the pool water was cold. I didn't continue the next session after because the water was too cold. I decided to wait for the summer session hoping the water would be warmer, but it's not. The pool water is still too cold.

Everyone was really friendly! I signed my 2 kids up for membership to use the pool & everything was smooth! I absolutely love that the water stay cold & don’t get warm after a while .The kids loved it !

Good place to work out, more supervision needed in pool. Some of the younger people act up..The children and young adults of today are disrespectful and rude, they have to be told what not to do. Not all, most are well mannered. Pay for your membership and dont want to be around loud noise and people who dont act right and follow the rules. So, all and all, good place, more supervison needed to control some of the little cracks..

Love this YMCA. Staff are always friendly and very helpful, facility kept very clean and COVID-safe. Everyone wearing a mask everywhere, and I see somebody come through and sanitize all the equipment and doorknobs and everything every 20 minutes or so. Able to take both little ones with me to play in the Kid Zone while I take a class or workout. They keep the kids area safe, too, rotating the toys out every few hours so that they can sanitize one batch while the kids play with another batch. Both kids love coming. My 5yo is doing swimming lessons, too, and they’re perfect for him. Wish they would do even more classes like more Zumba and Yoga!

One of the main reasons I love to come here is because of the incredibly friendly staff especially the child watch crew. They really know how make your kids feel comfortable and at ease. The facility itself is also very clean. Every time I come there is someone cleaning the bathroom, the gym, the halls etc. My family and I love it here and looks forward to coming almost daily!

CUSTOMER SERVICE: Terrific staff that's friendly and courteous! It's like one big family or a meeting place for neighbors here, it's awesome. ATMOSPHERE: Has all that you need. The staff does a decent job in keeping the equipment updated, along with new equipment. The only area improvement that's lacking would be the aesthetic appearance of the entire facility in terms of the walls and TVs, the hallways and locker room generally resemble those found in an elementary or junior high school. Overall, while the appearance of the facilities is a bit outdated, it's got all the necessary resources you need for fitness. The staff are fantastic people. I'm definitely glad to have this as my go to gym!

My Mother-in-law and I stopped by and registered as Silver Sneakers members. The Staff were very courteous and helpful in getting through the process of obtaining our informed consent plus obtaining our demographic information. They also provided a Welcome package with schedules for various Senior-related activities.

I've been a member there for going on a year now people the staff are all nice bathroom and locker rooms are clean a lot of variety of classes you can take in the morning. Be best to download the app to keep up with the changes between summertime and wintertime hours.

My wife and I signed up for this so we could take our one year old for swimming lessons. He has since also gone to tumbling as well as dance class. The child watch is excellent for being able to get bring your kid with you while you work out. The staff really care and get to know him personally. I just wish they had child watch hours all day.

The Roxborough YMCA has a definite family-oriented feel to it that you will recognize as soon as you step in the door. This, combined with the friendly staff committed to the community at the location, creates an atmosphere that you won't get somewhere that functions simply as a gym, like Planet Fitness. However, it can also cause issues; especially during the summer, some of the Y's nicest assets, such as the indoor swimming pool and basketball court, are completely taken over for the majority of the day by the kids who go to camp there. For this reason, the extra money for membership as compared to some of the cheaper options in the community may not be worth it if you are simply looking for a way to stay in shape.

This is my local y! There's a thousand reasons why it's always better to be at your Y then at your other Big Chain fitness center like LA Fitness or Planet Fitness or whatever. But really the biggest thing that separates it from those other experiences is the fact that it is community-based. Seeing the kids running around from their after-school programs and Daycare Two organizations having meetings there for seniors there's always something that makes it feel like you're in the right place when you go to the YMCA.

There's plenty of parking. A lot of activities but it's smaller than the Y I usually go to. This one only has 1 pool. It was divided into three lanes. Two were used for lap swimmers & the third section was for everyone else. Which was OK but 10 people package to one side of the pool made it difficult to enjoy oneself. Then the pool closed at 6:00 of 6:30 and the lifeguards (who spend more time talking than watching the swimmers) said rudely "y'all gotta get out the pools closed" there was no signage nor announcement prior to him saying it the way he did. Eh, we'll stick to our Y.

Truly one of the best YMCA facilities around with a broad and diverse set of programs. Membership required for participation in most programs.
