I woke up one morning during the pandemic feeling like a pot of noodles. I was an unmotivated and weak shut-in. Then I found G-Strength.
G-Strength's formula has been great. Each training session consists of a maximum 6 trainees and an expert fitness coach. Every week, there are multiple curated sessions that target different muscle groups. Additionally, these sessions switch every 6 weeks to ensure the workouts are challenging and fun. The coaches are all excellent and while they push you to be your best, they create a friendly and fun environment.
Over the last year I have gained community, motivation, and strength. I've surpassed my max lifts in all areas and established further personal goals. I've learned what a good community looks like while making a bunch of new friends.

I joined G-Strength after I finished physical therapy for my back this spring. Coming here is so much better than I could have imagined. The programs are easy to follow while still being interesting. All the trainers are fantastic. They are knowledgeable, supportive, and encouraging without pressuring (shout out to Jared, he's awesome!). The members are great and add to the sense of community.
Despite my back issues (which have improved through working out here), I'm the strongest I've been since high school and I definitely could not have done it without the support and guidance from G-strength.

Joining G-Strength was one of the best decisions I have made! As a retired college athlete I have been searching for a workout program and environment I truly enjoy and I have found that at G-Strength.
All the coaches have been welcoming and the individualized attention has made me feel more confident with my lifts which has translated to me not being afraid to pick up heavier weights each week. I can't recommend G-Strength enough. I've been going to this gym for about 7 months now and it has been the best gym experience I've ever had. Jared, G, and the rest of the team do a great job creating work out plans that are challenging and give you an opportunity to progress and reach your goals.
The workouts feel personalized. They have a couple of different programs you can work through, depending on what you're looking to accomplish and how much experience you have. Something else I really appreciate is that they adjusted my workouts to help me work some minor injuries I had outside of the gym. Jared and G worked to accomodate me while I was recovering when I otherwise probably would have just skipped.
I was a weight lifting novice before coming to G-Strength. I still have a ton to learn, but the team does a fantastic job of explaining what you're doing, what you should be feeling, and giving you feedback. I am way more confident in the gym now than when I started, and I definitely feel like I am getting stronger and feeling better. And best of all, it's just a great environment. The gym is unpretentious, positive, clean, and never overly crowded (there are usually around 5-7 people working out at the same time).
I have had such a great experience with G-Strength. Not only am I feeling better and getting stronger, but I have met some great people at the gym and have enjoyed working with them. Everyone has been really cool and supportive, especially the staff. If you're in the area and looking for a gym, you need to at least give G-Strength a try.

After moving into the neighborhood, I had been exploring a few different gyms to change up the routine from primarily working out at home since the pandemic. I was intrigued by the concept of G-Strength and the ability to workout in a group setting with a personal training element. Most of my workout routine has consisted of the Peloton, running, or group classes such as barre, boxing, etc. so strength training was not something I was as familiar with, which initially felt intimidating. Not knowing what to expect, I was pleasantly surprised that from the moment I visited for my consultation, I felt extremely comfortable and welcome. I signed up for the month trial and after the first class, I knew this is something I wanted to continue and a community I wanted to be a part of. The trainers are not only extremely knowledgeable, catering the work out to each individual needs and ensuring the moves are done properly, but also, incredibly friendly and motivating. After the first class, I really looked forward to going back knowing that it would be a new challenge but fun at the same time. Overall, it’s an incredibly relaxed and “go at your own pace” vibe, which I appreciate. My sister and I have developed a routine of going together 2x/week and we are both loving the gym, approach to fitness and community. Highly recommend to anyone at any fitness level!

When I came to this gym, I was greeted with open arms and welcomed. After an assessment, I was asked what my goals were; after that they set up a plan for success. Having all facets in house (physical therapist, nutritionist, well adapted trainers) all I had to do was the work. After more than 100 sessions I am still getting stronger and I love that. The best strength workout in Philly. If you are looking for a class focused on small-group training, then you need to check this place out! Giancarlo, Jared & Zach are strength training professionals. They focus on each person's needs and help them achieve their goals by consistently checking in and providing feedback. I have done many workout classes in the past, and I can confidently say G-Strength is next level. You will not be disappointed.

I've never been one to really prioritize fitness or training until earlier this year when I decided to try G-Strength to focus on weight training and mobility, and it's been nothing but a fantastic experience. All of the trainers are incredibly welcoming, and they've done a fantastic job of building a like-minded community at the East Kensington location. No matter what your skill set is coming in, they will work with you to build proper form and mechanics to start progressing quickly toward your fitness goals. I highly recommend this gym for anyone in the area.

Love the trainers and workouts from this gym. The trainers and coaches are actually active and very attentive vs. “life guards” just observing and being there. A great way for newbies and intermediates to get into weight and resistance training. If you’re not sure what to do at a traditional gym and how to get started in the weight room, I highly recommend starting here instead.

I started at G-Strength because I always struggled to have the motivation to go to the gym and it felt more like a chore than anything else. The coaches and program here changed all that for me. It starts out extremely approachable and ramps up as quickly as you can handle it.
The coaches are all patient, attentive, and knowledgeable. I've primarily been working with Jared recently and he's been exceptional in identifying weak areas and helping strengthen my form and exercise variations that will help me succeed.
The small group format (6-7 max) ensures that everyone gets the attention they need from the coaches and fosters a great sense of camaraderie as we all progress.

Amazing gym and fitness program! After falling out of regular strength training the past few years, G-Strength has exceeded my expectations in getting myself back into shape and beyond. It's been several months since joining and I have already set new PRs in multiple lifts.
The scheduling is easy and flexible, the equipment and tailored routines are top-notch, and the small group training is a much better experience than waiting to use equipment at a crowded gym.
Every trainer I've worked with - Jared, Gi, Tyler - have been incredible and have cultivated a friendly, motivational environment to work out in!

I found out about G-Strength through a quick Google search after moving into the neighborhood. I needed a gym where I can learn and get guidance from trainers and after reading all the glowing reviews, I knew I had to do at least a consultation visit. After doing the consultation and finishing the trial session, I'm officially a member! From Day 1, the G-Strength team (shoutout to G and Jared) have all been so helpful and have really motivated me to start my fitness journey. Their workout programs are customizable and can be tailored to your goals. And the trainers do an awesome job of making sure you get individualized attention and helpful advice during each session so that you’re continuing to grow and improve on your workouts. 10/10 would absolutely recommend this gym!

After about 15 years of sporadic training and no motivation to be consistent, I came to a point where I realized I needed to make a change to better myself and get back into some sort of shape. Thankfully I walked by G-Strength in East Kensington one day and decided to check it out. The gym and trainers have provided me with everything I was lacking… motivation, a friendly atmosphere, and guidance needed to improve. To say I look forward to 6AM training is mind blowing, but Ty and now Jared are always there with a friendly smile, positive vibe, helpful knowledge and extra push to see you meet your goals. For me, it has been the best decision in keeping me motivated, and I really love the supportive, commmunity environment. I highly recommend this gym.

The past 8 months I have seen my body change not only building muscle and feeling stronger but helping with my mental health too! Gian and his team of trainers are the best. So I have been a member since 2018 and G and his staff continue to impress me. At first I used to believe that I could only train with G, then he hired Ty and I became committed to working out with Ty and now I work out in Daniel’s classes. Gian’s ability to hire and cultivate a gym experience is like no other and the main reason I keep coming back even though I moved deep into the suburbs. The sense of community is strong and addictive - there is zero shame in this environment, only a strong commitment to improvement from the coaching team and other members. On the physical front, I am pretty sure these workouts helped me overcome post partum depression and isolation after my second kid and helped me rebound quicker after my third. Although I am not an athlete or in the best shape of my life, I believe I will get there with this team in no time.

G-Strength is great! Such a big change from the normal gym experience:
- The trainers are knowledgable, patient, and helpful. The trainers are more than willing to offer alternative lifts and movements based on your needs.
- The programming is challenging but very achievable for beginners. If you're following the program and lifts, you're getting your heart rate up and feeling it.
- The small-group setting gives you the best of both worlds. With only 5 other class members, you get much more personalized attention than you would with a larger class, but you don't feel like you're being micromanaged or watched 100% of the time. The trainers keep an eye on you, call out things when they see them, but also let you work on your own if that's what you want.
- The trainers work *with* you to help you meet your goals. When you're ready, they'll help you advance. Shoutout to Ty for all the help and guidance so far!
- You pick your class times and track strength progress with apps on your phone. This makes it very easy to signup for or switch classes based on your schedule.
- Giancarlo (the owner) is a genuinely nice guy. He took the time to answer all my questions before I started my trial, and he actively trains several classes each week.
Whether you're new to lifting or have been lifting for years, G-Strength is a great place to get the guidance and coaching you need to meet your strength training goals.

For someone who hasn't been to a gym to workout in over 10 years I was hesitant to get back into fitness. I must say that the staff at G-Strength made it an incredibly easy transition for me. The trainers are knowledgeable and very friendly, the other members are welcoming, and most importantly the way this gym works is ideal for me.
I don't have money to shell out for personal training sessions so the 6 person max classes make it ideal to get the 1 on 1 attention you need at a group price.
I joined for the trial just to test it out and see how I liked it, and after the first week I had made up my mind. Having a 1 on 1 consultation with Gian was super helpful as well - as someone with a long list of injuries we went over every single one and built out a program that would not have any negative effects on my body.
Now, a month in, I actually get excited when I wake up at 630 to go work out. I plan on being a member for a long time and would wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone who is looking to be more active but doesn't really know anything about it.

I love the team at G-Strength in Kensington and would recommend this gym to my family and friends. The gym itself is top notch. The equipment is all top of the line. Workouts are energized by a great sound system. The instructors are very knowledgable and professional. They adapt each workout to fit the clients goals and needs. I have a teenage son that is a client, and the instructors take the time to make sure form and technique are correct. While my son is one of the younger members of the gym, they have included him in many of the community building actives such at the gym's fantasy football league. I really love that they take the time to focus on the community they are building. Looking forward to being a long term client at G-Strength!

I've been training 3x per week at G-Strength since June 2021. While I did the best I could with limited equipment at home while everything was locked down, I was looking for a gym that didn't only had equipment but also had the knowledge and trainers that could help me establish a healthy routine. Now coming up on my 50th session, I can safely say I could not have achieved the kind of growth, results and knowledge that I have gained now if I had stayed working out at home or signed up for a standard monthly gym. Gian, Tyler and the other staff have been great about pushing me to do more than I thought I could do and have an enjoyable, safe and comfortable experience despite everything else going on in the world. I would (and have) highly recommend G-Strength to anyone either looking to start their strength training journey or establish themselves at a new gym after a significant layoff due to the pandemic.

The newer and larger location for G-Strength is awesome! I love the small and intimate classes with so many class times throughout the day. I recently moved back to Philly, and signing back up for G-Strength was at the time of my list. The gym is clean, equipment sanitized, masks worn, and distance kept. I do not personally train there but I film for their marketing purposes. Every time I've been there for work I have been impressed by the safety guidelines they have stood by throughout the pandemic. They take safety for their clients very seriously. Making sure all attendees are masked and properly distanced from one another. As well as a very well kept and clean workout environment.

My son played high school baseball and had been looking for a personal trainer that could help him build muscle and strength without injury, someone who really knew what they were talking about. Giann and his crew were been amazing! My son gained muscle and more importantly, confidence, which helped him transition into college ball. I never saw someone so excited about going to the gym! The classes are small and the training personalized. It's a great, positive environment for athletes and anyone looking to improve their body. It's been such a great experience, I joined too!

THE SCIENCE OF IT ALL! I have found this gym to be a great place that that is professional. After I was assessed so that they could see where I was physically, I had an actual conversation about what they offer in comparison to my overall fitness goals. I received an explanation of what the programs are and how the moves work together. I am big on communication and working in concert to achieve goal and thus far, I am beyond satisfied. Are the workout programs challenging, yes because they want you to be great! Do they stress proper form so that no injury occurs, yes, because well its important. Do they continually encourage you, yes, because they want to assist you in reaching your goals. What is important to me is that they listen and respond to their client's needs without hesitation in addition to communicating with each other. I highly recommend this gym.

I had a great experience at G-Strength! I came from some moderate experience with lifting and exercises and was looking for a program that would help optimize the correct form and structure for the workouts I was doing on my own. The team at G strength was so friendly and helpful, my instructors took the time to answer all my questions and monitor my form and offered advice to avoid injury and increase focus. G-strength not only is a great workout, but it is a great community where people are truly excited, energized, and happy to be there. It is also the only workout studio I have ever been to in which people are excited to work out at 5AM and 6AM. While many other group classes also provide a good workout, G-strength is different in many ways, especially that the class sizes are small (typically 2-3 people), there are 1-2 trainers who are helping people with form and providing advice, and there is a genuine interest in making sure people have the correct form, and are pushing themselves. This training truly stands out, and is exceptional.

I'm new to Philly and joined G-Strength after a year out of the gym because of COVID-- this gym is great about being COVID-safe while getting in an effective workout! I also have an old injury and the trainers have been fantastic at getting me back in shape & strong safely. I also love the apps they use to track your progress and appointment booking is very easy with all the time slots they have. There are folks training at all levels here and I always feel comfortable and have fun!

I found G-Strength on Instagram this past spring and quickly grew interested in the gym. Their welcoming and supportive atmosphere is perfect for anyone looking to gain strength and fitness.
Personally, I am a competitive rower. I started rowing and lifting in college on a D1 team. My strength and conditioning coach at my university not only pushed me to be the strongest that I can be, but gave me a deep appreciation for strength training. I realized that much of my rowing success correlated to how i lift and carry weight in the weight room.
After college, I struggled to find a gym where I could continue lifting like I did in college. But then I finally found G-Strength! I’ve been training at the gym for 3-4 months now and I can really feel myself getting stronger. The training here is purposeful. It’s been exciting to find a such a supportive and fun place to train!
Lastly, I’d say the trainers and clients here make it easy to look forward to coming into the gym. I’m literally always looking forward to my next session. Everyone stays positive and the trainers make it a point to have some kind of connection with every individual athlete/person that comes into the gym.
If you are looking to improve your fitness, push yourself, meet new friends, and add more purpose behind your training, I suggest you give G-Strength a chance!

I've been working out with the trainers at G-Strength at the original location in Queen Village for over a year and really love it. I've started to mix in sessions at the new Kensington location and they deliver at the same level. G-Strength is an entirely different workout experience than any other program I have ever participated in. The trainers do a ton of work to offer a comprehensive training program that is regularly adjusted to make sure nothing gets stale and the gains continue. Their commitment to their clients is unmatched. Whatever your goals are, they will do whatever they can to help you accomplish them.

All the people in the workout are there to support you and be a person to talk to on your rests between sets. The workouts are on the smaller side so you can get more one on one attention. For an old guy in his 50s who worked out with heavy iron in teens and 20s, I was skeptical about this kind of new way of fitness. I was wrong, and thank my son for dragging me into G Strength and this new (for me) way of working out. Gian and Ty recognize you individually, learn and are interested in my goals as an old guy, and customize the workout level for what I need while being appropriately mindful of my limitations, and giving me the right direction for the right amount of challenge. I’m feeling younger physically to the point I fear I will revert to meathead days! Ha!! But seriously, these are good decent people running this place. And also just as refreshing are the other clients I am meeting and getting to know. all good decent people and a breath of fresh air. Highly recommended for old guys who want to feel younger — not only physically, but socially from interacting with the younger people. And Ty’s mix of interest in music, and the mix of other people, is truly refreshing for the mind, spirit and body. A great positive experience and way to start any day. Add some old school music once in a while and I predict the younger folks will enjoy that too.

I recommend G-Strength so highly that 5 stars aren't enough. Instead of taking my word for it, I'd like to provide a more objective criteria to help you determine if G-Strength is for you. If you find yourself identifying with the characteristics below, which is the description of me before G-Strength, then run - don't walk - to joining G-Strength ASAP.
-You have wasted money with memberships and equipment to try getting into working out, but yo-yoed back and forth and never found anything that drove you to be consistent. I'm talking Planet Fitness, City Fitness, T25, P90X, Peloton, classpass, apps, at-home videos and exercise equipment like dumbbells. Despite having the means and desire to do it, nothing ever worked for you and you figure you're the problem.
-You need external motivation to show up. Working out at home in your living room has no real pressure and no accountability. It's so easy not to do it.
-You hate the boredom of walking into a gym with no plan. One can only cardio on a treadmill or elliptical for so long. So lame.
-You envy weight lifting and think it looks really cool and fun, but you don't know how to do it or how to start learning. You've looked into YouTube videos and online articles but thought it's too complicated and the risk of hurting yourself is too high.
-You're driven by positive feedback loops - the better you do and more progress you see, the more you're motivated to stick with things.
If this sounds like you, G-Strength offers a solution to each one of these aspects.
The coaching and attention you get is that of a 1:1 personal training which is WAY expensive. A normal person could not afford it. At G-Strength, you get the same result for a very reasonable price for the value you're getting. The coaches work with you individually and learn YOU - your personality, your strengths and weaknesses, your goals, etc. They expect that you show up - not to attend some group "class" - but that you show up for yourself and your own days and times. There's nothing "class-like" about it other than that there are other people there sometimes, but everyone is doing their own thing. The workout protocol is varied and interesting - you never dread going. In fact, you look forward to it (I swear). Before you know it, you notice progress in your form and that certain exercises that used to be hard or uncomfortable now feel easy or second nature.
If you want to break the cycle and finally start feeling fit, strong, motivated, and proud of yourself, do yourself a favor and join. I'm nearly 100% sure that you won't regret it and you'll stick to it. Invest in yourself and give it a try, you'll be surprised and pleased with the results.

It’s my first time doing a lot of these exercises (mostly barbell work) and they make sure you are ready, have good form, and are comfortably challenged before progressing.

The trainers are warm, welcoming, detail oriented, and kind. The space is always sparkling clean. most importantly, the workouts are intense and rewarding.
I can’t say enough about the owner Giancarlo and his crew. They took the time to understand how my body is calibrated and helped me achieve my fitness goals in a manner that was safest for me.

Gian, Tyler, and the staff at G-Strength are great. Unlike many other gyms, they do not allow you to just start training, but require you to go through an assessment to answer any questions you may have and also make sure they are aware of your limitations, injuries, flexibility, etc. The small group personal training class design is perfect for everyone, regardless of how much experience you have.

I usually frequent the QV location but on a couple occasions I checked out the Kensington location. The Kensington location is perfect. First off, it’s an awesome location with relatively easy parking. The space is bright with natural light but a cool industrial vibe. Trainer Ty was there on my visits and as always he was helpful and engaged. The gym was spacious, clean and had everything I needed for a fulfilling workout. I’ve been with G-Strength for nearly 2 years and it has been the best gym experience I’ve ever had. The spaces, trainers and workouts are on point.

When I joined G Strength I was a 140 lb skinny ahh teenager now after almost 3 years (I think) I’m up to 200 lbs and more confident (mentally and physically) than ever. I love the individualized attention with these small group classes the coaches provide. This is definitely not a $10 a month, set it and forget about it gym. They schedule, create weekly workouts, and consistently check your numbers to see you are hitting hour goals. I’ve only been here for a month, but I’m already seeing results. My 15 year old son became interested in health and strength to supplement his soccer training and prepare for future career goals. After some recommendations from friends at the Queen Village gym we were excited to discover there is a Kensington location!
As a mother, I was most concerned about the culture of a gym. My son was looking to get stronger but also learn good habits, build confidence and most importantly be safe. After meeting Giancarlo and going through the initial intake I couldn't have been more impressed. He was kind, knowledgeable and eager to answer all of our questions.
My son has been training with Gian now for a couple of months and loves it. He's eating better (more, a lot more), sleeping better and is overall feeling really good about his progress.
The small classes really allow for personal attention from the trainers. And the daily workouts focus on form as well as progress.
The Kensington gym location is new and is tucked away in an old milk warehouse just above Fishtown. It's a super easy walk right up the EL.
And if you're lucky, you'll get to see Gian's dog Mongo while you're there.
I wouldn't hesitate to recommend G-Strength.

This place is one of the best small class gyms I have ever been to. The trainers are incredibly experienced and knowledgeable. You can be at any level of experience of training. These guys have trained high level D1 athletes to people who have never lifted a weight in their life. Cannot recommend this place enough
