Big gym that’s right near my job. Great staff that are always willing to assist. Spacious and large, which is good, but There’s just too much cardio for having 2 full floors of gym space. The biggest disappointment I have here is the massage equipment doesn’t work properly. Out of the 2 chairs, only one half works if anything — only massages your legs no matter what I select — and same goes for the HydroBeds. I am editing this review because the equipment is starting to fail with no signage indicating this on the machine, and the hours are deceiving. Even tho it says “Open 24/7” on the door, the gym closes at 10 on weeknights and 8 on weekends. Parking is also an issue. You can park where is says “no parking”, as I witness Newark Parking Authority avoid all cars park here, but there are some times they will issue a ticket. If you park in the businesses next door, security will call a tow truck and move your car. I’ve witnessed this. You can get free legit parking in the garage for 1-2 hours depending on the day/time, but you have to make this gym your home gym in order to do that, so this is inconvenient for me as a free lancer who doesn’t live nearby. All in all, I recommend the short travel to the Belleville location. Everything works, staff are more friendly, and of course there’s free parking.

I've been going to this facility as a visitor as I'm in the area for a while. Since my first check-in I haven't had any trouble. Staff has been friendly and helpful and I have no complains as the equipment is on good shape and clean. Definitely feel very comfortable and at home. Keep the good work!

I like the type of people that attend this location. None ghetto or rachet. What I don't like is the up keep. Leaky ceilings, some equipment broken, not enough paper towel dispensers around and missing a few TV sets. I visited the one in Augusta, GA and oh man! Waaaaay more gym appropriate than the two I have seen in NJ. Nicer lockers in the lockeroom, small TV's on all the cardio equipment and more equipment to work out on. Very nice employees. They are friendly and helpful. The gym is also clean. I see the employees cleaning regularly. I like that. Edit** I just want to say I live in the area. Based on other reviews here I figured it's best for me to NOT take my car. I took the bus. Parking apparently is not free after an hour. Also, although I used a locker, I made sure not to put any valuables in there. Just my coat since it's winter. Wallet, phone, all keys and other items I can't afford to have stolen, stayed in my pockets during my workout. Somebody in another review had a locker broken into and stuff stolen. Yikes. Most gyms have a locker and personal item policy of some kind where basically, use lockers at own risk.

Took down one star for cleanness and another one for management in general, I had an impression that this PF location was going to be great, but at the time I was there a guy talking on the phone kept interrupting my workout he just circled around the entire gym, I was very disappointed when I went there by all this, didn’t have a good experience by the attendant, he was very unprofessional and lacked willingness to help on my first day. Willing to keep coming back but if it doesn’t improve I’m trying a different gym.

The music at this gym is absolutely horrendous. They have this app called Rockbot to let guests pick the songs in the gym, but the music selection is terrible and clearly biased towards more Caucasian gym members.

Ladies room clean. Men's room, not so much. Is a decent size with upstairs/downstairs. Nice size showers/water gets very hot, like I like it. Entering customer, none greeted until we had questions. Wasn't sure about where to park, Ended up parking about a block away.

So, Newark it’s clean big, staff are helpful - parking is awful either on street (good luck) or you can pay in the car park. No towel service ? I asked for a towel and was told “you have to purchase the towels” ??? I guess you get what you pay for !

I actually enjoy this location. Very clean, they follow all COVID guidelines. Machines are clearly marked to promote social distancing guidelines. They also have a section for people who are permitted to remove their mask. Which is great for people who would rather wear a mask. You just steer clear of that area. I would give five stars, but the staff don’t greet you. If you are an employee, behind the counter you should greet people as they enter. If it is their first time, take them on a tour. Don’t assume people are okay with just walking around “figuring it out.” I had to ask a member where the 30 minute circuit training was. When there were five trained employees just hanging out behind the counter.

1. Good crowd control and cleaning practices during covid. 2. Equipment isn't maintained well regularly which leads to due longer delays in repairing them when any equipment is broken and rendered unsusable. 3. It's inexpensive at 10$ to their regular membership.

It a clean gym that is open 24 hours 7 days a week. Also for $20 plus tax you can bring a guest. The one issue is the parking, they do offer a parking lot but you are only allowed to park for 2 hours after 5 and 1 hour before 5. Which is a bit tricky if you are trying to workout during the day. They also offer tanning beds, booths, and a few other cool features. Also there is a underground level so it is bigger then it looks.

Really nice facility. Fairly new I belief and it's being kept clean. Not too overcrowding. Parking lot is fairly small. Showers and lockers are pristine. Oh, and finally a planet fitness that has a professional weight scaled in the locker room. Friendly but young staff.

Once, after not being to that gym for a little over a month i walked in with a friend and the employee scanned her badge and welcomed her. And when she scanned my badge she asked me where i had been. Way to walk into the no judgment zone getting judged right away. Other than that, the place is a very nice gym with equipment galore and clean and sanitised restrooms. The showers there are very nice which i think is from the taboo of public showers. Since no one trusts them, they're barely used and clean for the barge few.

I like this gym because its a small gym but its not crowded. But i dislike the fact that you cant cancel online in your account and when i had an injury with knee surgery they expected me to still go down there and was very rude about it saying get an excused note to freeze the account,when they could of done it over the phone or let me do so online. They would charge my account extra trying to be slick when it was $10 and some change a month. And if they take out monthly then don't be trying to take $21 for two months knowing it wasn't no late fees,so watch your bank account.

Here's a couple of tips for PF Newark: 1) the parking lot could only be used if your home gym is PF Newark. You can only park there for only 1-2 hours depending on the time you go. I go during the week after 5pm which is when you can park for 2 hours max. 2) there is street parking but VERY limited. There's usually spaces later in the day. 3) locker rooms are located on the bottom floor where there are more machines 4) they have good drink selections (monster, bang, propel, etc.) 5) stretching area is usually crowded 6) during rush hour it's busy around the PF 7) locker rooms are always clean

I love going here. I was able to switch my Belleville membership to this location with no problem and now I have access for a two hour parking in the IDT parking lot. I can finally go and workout in peace. The place is spacious and comfortable with everything included. I would recommend this gym to anybody looking for a friendly not over crowded place

I love this location, and the staff is excellent!! BUT, the fact that from 9am to 5pm you can only park for 1 hour is really disappointing. Especially being a black card member an hour is NOT enough for a proper workout. From 5pm to 8:59am there is a 2 hour limit! Which i find ridicoulous because each memeber should be able to spend as much time at the gym as they believe necessary. This week i stayed for an extra 15 minutes and had to pay $13 for parking!!!!!! Which is absurd considering that is that amount to park in the parking deck for a full day! This was never an issue when i first became a memeber.

Staff is very friendly and professional. Gym is well cleaned. Reason i don't give 5 stars is because the music is way too loud, is ridiculous that i have to hurt my hearing by blasting my cd player in order to hear my own music.

The gym is great but the PARKING is horrible. The parking deck is only 1 HOUR and after that YOU $$$. You have to wait until after 5PM to really enjoy a good work out because then you can enjoy 2 HOURS of parking before YOU have to $$$.

You get what you pay for. For $10 a month, I am not expecting much. There have been times that I come in and there's a gang of employees just hanging out at the front either cursing up a storm or trying to flirt with young girls trying to workout. I came in one day and basically waited for someone to scan my card. They turned to look at me then went back to what they were doing until I just walked past them. My biggest issue is the fact that this gym has no scale. This is the first planet fitness I've been to with no scale. A gym with no scale? That's like peanut butter and no jelly.

The place is open 24 hrs. Most of the Staff is friendly, and most all is uninteferring with your workout. The place is clean. Lots of #Safe Equipment, and when broken, the staff shuts it down for repair. All that $10 per month. What more to ask for?

Why is the fat Spanish girl always on her phone in the locker room or hiding in the cleaning closet or on her phone with a stank attitude at the front desk? Weekday afternoon staff is less than friendly. They actually are downright rude. They don't greet you when you walk in or when you leave. Even in the bathroom they are either speaking loudly on their phones or blasting music. The manager isn't nice. Equipment is thrown all over. Planet Fitness, i think its the ideal place for younger guys breaking into the body building game, It helps them come and get acclimated with the ins and outs of lifting. And for our upper class it offers great machines which helps promote rehab, and flex workouts. Now i dont believe its for our hard core body builders because its a no noise zone. And what are we if we cant grunt and moan a bit, lol.😁

Took forever to open kept resheduling when they were going to open, now the place is kind of dead cause not many people know it's open and it's smaller than most planet fitness with less machines but it's good to go at night not too crowded or in the mornings. .. It's peaceful

What I like so much about this PF is that there are 2 floors! I can just start my workout immediately on the first floor and chill out @ lounge or change downstairs, get my whole workout, change & head home. MORE PFs need to be like this!

People are friendly or just to themselves. Large spacing with a lot of machines to work through. Sometimes gets a bit crowded, but if you want to use a particular machine and someone is by it but not using, they will let you use.

It's a really great place to work out to be honest the only complaint I have is the parking situation, it should at least give you 5 hours of parking 1 hour does not give I don't want to be at the gym working out worrying about my parking and then after 5 you get two hours it's really annoying 😔 I really hope they fix the situation at least 4 hours or 5
