The people at this shop have changed my life. When I first started I had constant pain in my hips and sometimes knees. I was extremely overweight, in my late 60s, and had not exercised for about 20 years. In 6 months, I have NO pain in my joints, my balance and muscle strength have improved a lot, and I have lost a lot of weight. I was too heavy to start with aerobics, so I have been using the gym weights under the instruction of Dennis and Julie. You could not do better than the Shape Up Shoppe in Bay View. I mean it. I feel great!

HANDS DOWN the best gym experience I’ve ever had. I always thought I wanted to be a nameless face in a fitness club, but the Shoppe has shown me otherwise. I would go to other gyms and have no idea what to do or how to build a workout, and nobody (including myself) cared whether I was there or not. 100% not the case at Shape Up Shoppe. The owner, Julie, reaches out every other week to check on me and asks if I can make a class (particularly if I’ve missed some I’ve noticed hah). She’s super energetic and so fun to be around. Janay is a fantastic instructor who has pulled me aside to give me a heads up about a possible temporary schedule change to the classes I attend. Other instructors that were there just to participate in the classes have taken the time to introduce themselves afterward and tell me that I’m doing great. I never realized how big of an impact this has. I usually waste money on memberships, but this is a place I don’t dread going to. Absolutely LOVE it here!!

I LOVE the Shape Up Shoppe! I joined this gym during a time when I was looking for community and wanting to mix up my routine. It is so refreshing to be surrounded by amazing, strong women every time I work out! Everyone is very supportive and welcoming. I have been an athlete my whole life (competitive swimmer, marathoner), so I know a good workout and I like to push myself. The cardio classes are my favorite, because they are challenging and SO fun! The playlists are great. Sometimes I’m dancing so hard and having such a good time that I forget I’m even working out (but I burn a ton of calories and feel super strong)!! I was struggling with back pain when I first joined the Shoppe, and since I’ve gained muscle from my workouts, I haven’t had back pain in months. I can’t say enough good things about this place! Do yourself a favor and join!

The Shoppe is part gym, part community and does both exceptionally well. This gym is about the group classes and the results are amazing if you are ready to work hard. The owner and trainers really care about the members and their goals as well as preventing injury. As others have mentioned, there are 21 year olds and 75 year olds taking these classes - everyone is encouraged (in a fun but also direct and frankly very motivational way) to do their best and put in the effort but it also feels like a non-judgmental place, it’s a hard balance that Julie and the other trainers strike well. If you want to see results but struggle in a normal gym with self-motivation I highly recommend checking it out. It’s truly a one-of-a-kind place!

If you want to be in the best shape of your life- join the Shoppe!! Honestly I absolutely love this place. It’s such a fantastic workout (very difficult but you can modify if you have back issues like I do) and I leave sweaty and happy. Women only and all the workouts help women discover their best bodies. ❤️ I only wish I had discovered this place in my 20’s when I was having babies. That would have been a game changer. Have I mentioned that it WORKS? Had to stop due to Covid in 2020 (stupid pandemic) and I gained about 20 pounds Covid weight - entirely due to my own actions or should I say in-actions. After I was finally fully vaccinated I came back in the beginning of June of 2021 - fast forward to now and I’ve lost all the Covid weight and then some. I went from size 12 to size 8 and I feel amazing! And I will be continuing this journey. The Shoppe is full of supportive women and feels like a community rather than “just” a gym. Julie is awesome and so is Chris. Yes, they will make you really workout hard and you need to trust the process and you will get there.

The Shape Up Shoppe is by far and away the best gym I've ever been to. The owner, Julie, is personally invested in each member of the Shoppe and goes truly above and beyond to push you to achieve your fitness goals, compliment your progress, and make you feel welcome. My work outs are often the highlight of my day and I wholeheartedly recommend the Shape up Shoppe to women of any age looking for challenging work outs in a supportive environment you'll want to return to as much as your schedule allows.

I recently joined this gym and it was the best decision I have ever made. The members are INSANELY welcoming. Julie, the owner, is incredibly knowledgable, supportive, and motivating. I came in with an injury and she took the time to come up with a plan that still allows me a full body workout while healing at the same time. She puts so much of her time into each individual person. The classes are hard and they should be. If you want results this is absolutely the place you need to be. The price for this gym and everything it offers is the best in Milwaukee, hands down.

The Shape Up Shoppe has changed my life! I've been a member for a year and a half. I look forward to the classes every day, to get an amazing workout and being part of a positive, encouraging community of strong, empowered women. I'm motivated to go every day because of the group workout classes. I wouldn't get nearly the same workout if it did it alone. Personal favorites: sauna workouts, big trampoline, boxing, and parties! I feel so fortunate to have the Shoppe in my life.

I wish there were 10 stars to give, this gym is AMAZING. My only workout before the shoppe was running, and although it was tough, I didn't get to push myself to meet new challenges & goals. Julie, the owner, and all of the other instructors are amazing. There will be a room of 25 + women, and Julie will make you feel like it is just you and her. Her ability to reach all the members and engage with us all is simply incredible. She will correct you in the moment to prevent injuries and pain. Her knowledge & explainations on the human body are truly remarkable and it makes me feel safe as well as empowered to learn more about my body and the proper way to workout. She is an uplifting, challenging, and loving woman who makes me and all the other women feel strong, motiviated and eager to continue challenging ourselves. If you are scared of gyms (like I was) but really want to make a difference in your overall health, THE SHOPPE IS FOR YOU! The members are welcoming and motiviating (I am 23 and there are 75 year old women who kick my butt in workouts, how awesome!!!!). It has changed my whole perspecitive and I can now say I am living a much healthier life. Thank you Julie & all the other amazing, kick-butt women at the Shape Up Shoppe. Check them out, you won't be disapointed.

LOVE the Shape Up Shoppe! It's a fantastic community of women from all walks of life. Everyone is encouraging and are the type of people I would (and often do) grab a drink with after class or on the weekends. The owners Julie and Dennis are fantastic. You can tell they are knowledgeable and dedicated to helping everyone who walks in the door. Julie does a great job of injecting fun and sass into class as motivation. Try cardio complete, do it.

I joined this community about 10 months ago, and have come to realize it is the best decision I've ever made in regard to workout facilities. What you don't find here is the 'coldness' of the chain gyms or the pricey small group fad instructions. What you do find at the Shoppe are people from ALL age groups. There is never a dull moment at the Shoppe as all workouts are choreographed to great music, targeted to specific areas, and are constantly changing to include all muscle groups and problem areas. The instructors push members to do their individual best and are focused on form to prevent injuries. It feels very much like having a personal trainer. I haven't even talked about the great boxing classes and weight lifting! Julie, Dennis and Kris work together to provide an experience that not only helps you get in shape, but encourage life style changes that will keep you healthy into the future.

I love the Shape Up Shoppe! I have never been able to get myself into regular exercise. I had gone to a few gyms, had personal trainers, but nothing really motivated me. A friend of mine joined the Shoppe and I decided to give it a try and now I'm going at least 3 times a week! So, it's more classes than machines. They have machines and weights, but their cardio classes are really the focus. They also have boxing, slide class, and other classes that change throughout the year. I love the cardio class! It's usually 45 minutes to an hour. The owner, Julie, is really helpful with any questions and regularly checks to make sure you are doing the moves safely, and also gives lots of good advice on eating right. I have lost 20 pounds since starting a few months ago! Everyone who works there is equally as helpful. It's really fun to be in an environment with all women too so I don't have to be concerned about things like my underwear showing or not shaving my armpits, haha. Everyone is very supportive too, and we celebrate people's birthdays and have parties every once in a while. I recommend it to everyone! If you're like me and have a hard time motivating you should try it out.

This is such a great place to work out! The aerobic classes are the best and really get you in shape. Instructors know you and will push you to work your hardest. Great choreography that targets any and all problem areas, all while working out to fun music. Classes include some killer ab work. The boxing classes burn lots of calories. Membership includes use of gym, sauna, locker room. The members are really nice and you’ll see young and old, all working out hard and having fun. Any stress you had when you walked in will be gone when you leave. Give it a try!!

I love it here! Julie is amazing, supportive and makes working out fun. Kris is also amazing! I recommend coming here to anyone who wants to get fit, you simply won’t get this great of a workout anywhere else!

Come for the gym, stay for the people. It's a great workout -- you can tell the owners have been in the business for over 30 years -- but the community keeps you motivated, encouraged, challenged. Not at all intimidating and both advanced and out-of-shape women are welcome. This gym is for girls only and they offer cardio/aerobics, weights, boxing, personal training, boot camp, etc.

I love Shape Up Shoppe! I’ve been a member for over 30 years; they have kept me in shape and help me to lead a healthy life! Julie stresses injury prevention and has fun routines!
