I’ve been hooked on this place since I started going about nine months ago. As someone who has historically just sort of wasted my own time at the gym, this set up is wonderful: you don’t have to decide a thing or know anything when you walk in the door. The trainers have devised a circuit for you which changes daily and all you have to do is show up and get a fantastic workout! I’m definitely getting stronger and leaner, and I like the feeling of camaraderie that exists in each class time slot. You get every penny that you pay for.

I cannot say enough positive things about this gym. The owner and staff are outstanding trainers and even better people. They take time each class to ensure everyone is getting the most out of the workout, and tweak your form or the movement for individuals to ensure you are getting the most effective and safest workout possible. I also have to give the owner a huge shoutout for the cleanliness. I don’t think I’ve ever been to a gym quite so clean!

My experience at Underground Fitness has been out of this world awesome. I've had the opportunity to intern here and learn from each of the trainers as well as get to know them personally. Firstly, the gym is clean and all of the equipment is top of the line. They put a lot of effort into making the gym a great atmosphere and they have succeeded. Secondly, the trainers are intelligent and professional. They know what they're doing. When they program they take into consideration their clients and past workouts so the classes continue to be fun and challenging. Lastly, the people who work here are sincere. They care about their people. The community is wonderful, almost instantly you can see the friendships that have grown and thrived in this gym. I love this place and would recommend it to anyone no matter their level or knowledge of exercise. You will grow here and learn. With the security of knowing the trainers are top notch, and with the variety of classes that Underground provides, there is no doubt that you will succeed at and enjoy this gym.

I cannot say enough AMAZING things about Underground Fitness!! I have lived all over the US and have tried so many workout facilities and they all pale in comparison! Whether you are just starting to workout or you are in the best shape of your life, Underground Fitness will motivate and challenge you! From the moment I walked in the door, I felt so welcomed, so comfortable and there was a huge sense of camaraderie among everyone in the class! I have had the privilege of taking Lauren and James' classes and they are extremely knowledgeable and highly motivational! The owners truly care about their members and the facility/equipment is top notch. I have been working out there 3x/wk for about 3 weeks and I'm already down 12 lbs. My advice to anyone looking for an awesome environment to workout in... try Underground Fitness! You won't be disappointed! It is the best decision I have made in a long time!

Go here!!! I wish all gyms could be as great as underground fitness. Reasonable price for what you get, no hidden fees or trying to rope you into something, and they are so nice and easy going. The classes are always different, always challenging, and cater to different levels. Highly recommend!

UF is the place to be. I wasn’t too enthusiastic to get back into the gym because I spend most of my time outdoors. I knew I needed a sense of community if I were going to stick with it and when I first started out at Underground, I instantly knew it was a good fit. Members are encouraging and friendly and you quickly feel as though you’re a part of the group. The coaches truly care about the members and safety is a priority, which is a refreshing concept as far as gyms go. Each class begins with instruction on the movements and during the workout, the coaches monitor everyone ensuring they use proper form and are getting the most out of each exercise. Have an injury? They will modify the movement so that you’re still able to do the work. All the classes are very upbeat, and there’s a high level of enthusiasm that’s contagious. Class sizes are perfect and the times are convenient for any schedule. I’ve been able to make great strides in my fitness level thanks to Underground but the thing that shocked me the most is that I’ve seen a MAJOR increase my mountain biking and trail running endurance which, of course, has made me work out more. When the world went on hiatus during the COVID-19 shutdown, the classes changed to a computer screen but Stephanie’s enthusiasm for keeping people moving and staying healthy never stopped – yet another reason to support a business that supports so many! Keep up the great work UF team!

I LOVE UF. I'm not the type of person who naturally pushes themselves to the limit. I have to be in a group setting. I always feel safe and supported at this gym. I think I've been going here for 2ish years now. In COVID times, I can honestly say this is probably the safest gym in town. Everyone has their own box, you can not leave your box without your mask. There is lots of cleaning and hand sanitizing as well. I did try their competing gym (MAD something) down the street with a friend recently. The mad gym had no masks, no social distancing, and very little time to clean between sets. UF has easy parking, the trainers are nice, and supportive. I'm really grateful to find a gym that pushes and supports me at the same time. Thank you!

Underground Fitness is locally owned and provides an incredible and encouraging atmosphere for all fitness levels alike. Great workout, music, energy, top notch equipment and overall studio!! The studio itself is gorgeous and just begs for you to get sweaty using all the super versatile and high end equipment-that you won't see at any gym I know of in Asheville. Steph makes sure you do the moves right and work hard!! Love that there is a 6am class to get a workout in before the family gets up!

UF has been my home away from home for over the past 1.5 years! Coming in postpartum, tired and out of shape, Steph and the rest of the UF team whipped me into shape pretty quick! I have never stuck with a workout this long; it’s effective, fun and the trainers are so knowledgeable. The UF community is also some of the best Asheville has to offer. Any age, any fitness level, I highly recommend checking out a class. I’m stronger and faster than I have ever been at 40 years old. The only bad thing is now I can’t work out anywhere else because nobody levels up. Thanks UF!

Who does this? I am not one who writes reviews but this incident inspired me to share my experience. I have been a member of Underground since they opened and I am so blown away with the passion and sincere care that Stephanie Ritchie has exhibited this weekend. I hurt my back and I reached out to her on a weekend night to ask about the future workout to see if I was in condition to participate. MUCH TO MY SUPRISE!!!!.....Stephanie actually made a video of some stretches that I could do to help my back. Who does that? Stephanie does.......that is why I follow her. She TRULY cares and it doesn't stop there. ALL of the trainers I have experienced at underground REALLY cares!!!! This staff see's me 5 times a week and they still CARE! That is a business that has forethought and pays attention to each and every member that walks in. Thank you Underground.....Stephanie, Mary, Georgia, Shane, Johnny......I feel safe.

Caleb Smith, you wrote the exact same thing on a Facebook review, as well as alot of other customer's reviews. Im curious as to how you think anyone could copy a workout? A push up is a push up regardless of where you do it, but there's gyms all over Asheville doing them and noone else is crying copyright infringement. I worked at MADabolic, with steph for a breath, and as I respect the founders of that franchise. It was comparable to other high intensity interval training, would you say they copied CrossFit? And CrossFit just gave circuit training a cool name at a higher rate. The workouts are different from other gyms yet similar to other gyms. I've worked at 4 myself and attended closer to a dozen. Steph sets herself apart from the others with her balance of intensity and compassion. Somehow Underground Fitness has been able to maintain that while keeping up enough personality to keep the unmotivated like myself honest enough to have a great workout. I recommend it to all athletes! If you're nervous she has a program to get you ready for the intensity, which is a rarity in HIIT, High Intensity Training, gyms. Sorry if this is long, I tried to contact you, Caleb, personally on facebook but was unable to. Just a side note, the bank you work for has never heard of you.

I can't say enough about how fun and challenging these workouts are! I've been to many gyms, fitness studios, crossfit boxes in the Asheville area and this is my favorite. The trainers here have taken all the same movements used in HIT workouts across the world and made the programming different everyday. And the woodway treadmills used here are a crazy fun way to incorporate running into a gym workout.
