Very welcoming and fun environment. Staff are very informed to keep you safe or adapt to your needs. I saw tremendous improvements in my overall fitness and strength which translated to improved climbing. Can't recommend MPT more.
I love training with MPT! The whole staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and committed to help you meet your goals. I’m a mountain biker, I started training with MPT about 3 months ago and have seen huge leaps in my strength and mobility on the bike as well as over all fitness. I started out this year racing in Cat 1 and now I am racing Pro! Couldn’t have made it happen without these guys. One weekend at a race, I developed some lower back/hip pain. I came into MPT the following week and the trainers gave me some really helpful stretches, and Steven put me on the massage table and loosened up some trigger points in my back/hip that were causing the pain. I went on a ride the next day and was feeling great! These guys go above and beyond to help get you where you want to go, whatever your endeavors may be. They’ve done it with me, and I see them do it with others as well!
Love working out at Mchone Performance Training! Steven and Shona created a welcoming environment that is always evolving to include the most efficient and effective workouts. Not to mention they have both trained extensively and have more certifications than I can remember! They have an awesome, caring and personable staff, too! The coaches are encouraging, fun and they know their stuff. I feel super safe working out there because all the coaches have anatomical knowledge and the ability to modify workouts to each person. Their gym is for all levels - beginners and competitive athletes alike. If you have been wanting to get back into working out, move, etc., this is the ideal place to start! Thanks y'all! I recently started going here. The trainers are amazing. Thoughtful, thorough, extremely helpful, kind, and very knowledgeable. Great gym if you want a smaller class and more individualized attention to help you grow. I highly recommend this over Golds or CrossFit.
With COVID-19 full blown in 2020, I joined MPT because I felt it was the safest place to get a work out in while remaining outside and socially distanced. My expectations have since been exceeded. Steven and his team of coaches truly care about every athletes health and overall well being. I have never worked with a trainer who helps to hold me accountable for my goals and routinely checks in with me like Steven. The workouts change from week to week keeping the routine from getting boring. The coaches along with the other athletes give this training center a true sense of community.
I have been training with Steve and crew at McHone Performance Training for 7 weeks now and have definitely noticed an improvement in my overall fitness and endurance. I primarily mountain bike and Steve has tailored workouts to my specific needs for riding techy trails in WNC. Hike a bikes are a breeze now and I feel more in control on fast descents because of the increased strength and dexterity. I hadn't done any weight training for years, and thought I might get bored with it. Workouts at MPT are different every day, and they are unique functional exercises that engage the body and mind in different ways. We pull tires around the parking lot, use kettle balls, TRX bands, traditional bar weights, and do tons of other creative exercises and workouts. As a newbie, I feel super supported by the coaches at MPT. They are willing to teach me and are super patient as I am learning and progressing. I have always felt welcome at MPT and never felt intimidated or out of place. I was very inspired by Steve's motto: What are you willing to do? I think of that every time now on the trails. I guarantee at MPT you will have fun, work hard, and improve your overall strength and fitness. Come check it out and train with the pros.
I'm already feeling stronger on my mountain bike after just a few weeks of working with Steven. He adapts workouts to your needs/what your goals are, makes it fun, and knows all the specifics of working with mountain athletes. The environment at MPT is super encouraging and I can't recommend this place enough!
Steve McHone is an awesome trainer! His performance training plans aim to increase strength, flexibility, and endurance simultaneously. The end goal is staying active for many miles in the mountains while remaining injury free. I've been working with Steve for a few years and plan to for many more!
We've had a great experience at MPT! The workouts are challenging and well thought out for what you want to achieve. This isn't crossfit where you jump in and try to PR with heavy weight every time. This is a gym environment for a fun, like-minded, and unpretentious group of outdoor enthusiasts who love to log miles in the woods on foot, bike, the rock wall, kayak, etc. Whatever your fitness level, MPT is an excellent supplement to keep you strong and injury free for the long haul.
If you were a frog and you hopped in to MPT, Steve would welcome you with kindness and then turn you in to a bull frog in no time. You’d be clearing lily pad jumps that you never imagined possible.
Steve is one of a kind, expert in fitness, and genuine bro. Time spent in the gym at MPT is like time spent with family. Priceless.

Awesome place to get outdoor sport focused training. Steven is the man. Knows what he is doing and makes it easy to come in get a work out done in an hour and maximize your time in the gym. 10/10 would gym again
MTP has been providing me app based workouts for the past 5 months now. The app they use is very intuitive with videos that demonstrate the exercise if you are unfamiliar with it. If you are look for an at home program, focused on your performance needs, MPT is the place to get it! Highly recommended!
Met Steven on a bikepacking adventure and he helped get me back on track with my training and provided great plans and coaching. I was able to crush my next event and my fitness keeps getting better. Thanks for all the knowledge and help Steven!
