Reviews of Lincoln Center Theater
This experience includes bus trip from NJ. Followed by subway trip to Columbus Circle stop. Followed by walk up on Broadway to Lincoln Center Theater. While we have been here many times before, this place always impresses and pleases all senses. And the rain on this day reminded us that inclement weather just makes experience enjoyable in its own way. The recommendation is to experience this place any time and for any reason. The reasons span the range offered by the current Resident, Big Apple Circus, to all the theatres, opera houses, movie theatres, and places to enjoy food and drinks in and around Lincoln Center complex.
So.... Just do it! Imagine how great it would be if we met here!
This is one of the most wonderful theaters in NYC. The entire experience, from approaching the building, to walking and talking in the lobby, to just sitting and enjoying the beautiful and large theater. Then the plays of course, which are tops always. What a delight!
One of the most underrated places in NYC. They host the best summer events, that are innovative, fun, exciting and culturally educational. I love attending their events from the symphonies to an Indian dance and yoga class to a live poetry reading, amazing place!
Traditional iconic Temple of Performing Arts. Now free summer 2022 program. Music, Opera, Ballet, Modern dance, Theatre. Mitzi E. Newhouse Theatre Box Office do not warn that ID and probé of vacilación is requered. Only sale the ticket. Like others espectácules advertirse you. So I was dennied to see EPIPHANY
Excellently managed venue and what an incredibly intimate theater. Was able to be seated orchestra level and see the show perfectly. The staff was amazing and everything was clean!
Beautiful theater! My wife and I watched My Fair Lady and were absolutely overwhelmed with the show. Such talent and such energy. The staff were respectful and the facilities were in excellent condition. Very nice walk there as well.
Saw a fantastic show with Mike Birbiglia. It's a beautiful place worth the visit!
A fantastic view of the stage and great acoustics.
My first at the Lincoln Center Theater to see "the skin of our teeth". They follow the covid protocol and vaccine proof. No food or drink in the theater. They provide jellybean, pretzels and water at the intermission. The play was 2.55 hours.
I visit here often. The outdoor areas are beautiful and a perfect oasis. The theaters are decadent. Productions at the Vivian Beaumont are lavish and spare no expense. I've had the honor to see both The King and I and My Fair Lady here so far.
I was passing by and noticed how beautiful the buildings and its surroundings. Took many pictures and enjoyed the view. Everyone should come and see this spectacle and at least one time see one of their shows.
Madama Butterfly was my first Opera. This was also my first time to the Lincoln Center and it was an unforgettable experience.
Black Voices at The Met was my special and particular favourite, showing the history of black artistes at the institution.
The chandelier too was exquisite and the fountain on the outside a beautiful finishing touch.
Large, high quality Broadway Theater. Production are always done with great casts and elaborate sets. The audience sounds the thrust stage making you feel close to the action.
The organization observes Lincoln Center founder John D. Rockefeller 3rd's mandate that the arts are "not for the privileged few, but for the many." Guided by the motto, "Good Plays, Popular Prices," Lincoln Center Theater makes every effort to keep admission prices low and its doors open to all. And, an innovative Membership program allows 30,000 participants to see any LCT production at the Beaumont, Newhouse and on Broadway for just $42 to $62 per ticket from the best seats available.
Lincoln Center Theater was re-established in 1985 under the leadership of Chairman John V. Lindsay, Director Gregory Mosher and Executive Producer Bernard Gersten, and was named "the pre-eminent theater in the country" by The New York Times. Today, under the leadership of Chairman J. Tomilson Hill and Producing Artistic Director André Bishop, the organization produces dozens of plays and musicals, seen by millions of audience members at the Vivian Beaumont Theater, the Mitzi E. Newhouse Theater, the Claire Tow Theater, and other venues.
Lincoln Center Theater also distributes thousands of free tickets each year to culturally under-served populations throughout the five boroughs and regularly offers special performances for the hearing impaired. Other ongoing activities include the Directors Lab, a developmental symposium for new and emerging artists; Open Stages, an arts-in-education program operated in cooperation with New York City public schools; Lincoln Center Theater Review, a literary journal available in the Theater's lobbies and distributed free-of-charge to schools and libraries, and the Platform Series of free conversations with LCT artists.
In June 2012, LCT opened a new 2-story addition on the roof of the Vivian Beaumont Theater. This addition includes the Claire Tow Theater, rehearsal rooms, office space and a roof terrace. It is the permanent home of LCT3, our programming initiative devoted to producing the work of new playwrights, directors and designers. Through fully staged productions and affordable tickets, LCT3 is bringing a new generation of artists and audiences to LCT. In addition, through tours, telecasts, films, publications, recordings and this website, the organization reaches audiences across the nation and around the world.
Great shows but some staff are inflexible and not people friendly.
Not to be confused with the president or the car, the Lincoln center theater is definitely neither of those things. You can sit down and watch a show or performance, but the Lincoln center theater won’t end the civil war or come in all wheel drive.
The theatre has an interesting configuration, and our seats in the first row of the balcony have a great view, even though we were as far stage left as you could go. We saw Oslo which was funny & as fast paced as a political retrospective can be. They don't let you bring drinks inside the theatre.
This place is beautiful. I was here for a design conference and the buildings alone are inspirational.
It's right off the subway so it's super easy to get there, and the interior is large and can hold hundreds, if not thousands.
My daughter and I had so much fun at the Lincoln Center Theater. What an awesome place for a mother and daughter time. Complimentary snacks and water was welcoming. We saw the show “The Skin of Our Teeth” Epic!
Intimate space with surprisingly comfortable seats. Saw "intimate apparel" here, excellent show and beautifully staged
Perfect place to catch a show. Away from the bustle of times square and plenty of eats around within walking distance. Theres parking below so no need to worry about a garage. And its SELF PARK, perfect for people like me who wont trust a "valet" driver.
Went to see "My Fair Lady". Fantastic! All the staff, ticket booth through ushers, were friendly and helpful. Delightful experience. Will go again for certain.
Big Apple Circus has gotten so huge that we went to see them perform by the center in their tent full of mesmerized audience members. Audience participation was great and energy was found for the duration of the performance.
Went to see My Fair Lady here (bought tix through TodayTix) - not a bad seat in the house
Lincoln Center is spatial with fountain and Sculptures. Great Place for the Arts.
Exelent recommended
I saw the Opera Intimate Apparel. Very good production. This was my first time being in this theater. Staff was very friendly. Covid protocols were in place, so I felt very comfortable being there.
One of THE most beautifuly designed theaters in the world. Gorgeous and the theater houses some great shows as well
Such a beautiful theater!!! Couldn't have had a better experience.
Great shows, clean and attentive staff
We go there primarily for ballet, NYCB and ABT at the New York State Theater. Pictured you can see David Geffen Hall opposite across the lovely plaza.
Very artistic place performing arts library central park so much around here. Only problem its hard to find a parking.
Love my first opera experience and this theater was fantastic
Beautiful theater! My wife and I watched My Fair Lady and were absolutely overwhelmed with the show. Such talent and such energy. The staff were respectful and the facilities were in excellent condition. Very nice walk there as well. Passed by the Metropolitan Opera House and Juliard.
We saw "My Fair Lady" here - my first Broadway musical and it was amazing. The cast, the play, the costumes, ... everything was extraordinary. The theater itself is great as the stage is very close to the ranks and therefore the scene seems very lively.
Wonderful place for music with the best sound quality
The Lincoln Center is beautiful and much larger than we remembered. We asked two lovely gentlemen (who happen to be Opera singers with the Met !😀) for directions to the “My Fair Lady” box office and they directed us to the Theater on the right side of the building. We walked up to the box office and were offered half price tickets for the 8 o’clock show. Such a treat as we were prepared to pay full price for less expensive seats rather than waiting in the ridiculously long-line in Time Square. We had some of the best seats in the house in our opinion and thoroughly enjoyed the production! Be sure to preorder you drinks for intermission and you won’t have to wait in the long refreshment line. The bathroom lines were the real shock. They need another ladies’ room in that theater. I think every woman in the building was in that line during intermission and after the show! After we bought our tickets, We went in the Lincoln Center Prelude Cafe and Bar for a bite to eat before the show. We had a very satisfying grilled cheese with the best butternut squash soup we have ever tasted!
My Fair Lady one of the best theater experiences in my lifetime. Beautiful delivery from the main actors, supporting cast, great stage. Brought in the quintessential Lincoln center. Simply put, I'm glad, I got to see it.
Great venue to see a show,MY FAIR LADY. Tickets are pricey. The outdoor Cafe in the center Court is very pricey ( I have eaten at a lot of places in the city). I wanted just a drink and a small plate and the only option was dinner. It was a Sunday afternoon , just after the matinee.
A splendid place during night!
This is the first time there the "My fira lady" show are the one you don't want to missed. And the theater seat setup are the best will out booster set my youngest daughter able yon watch the show will out someone blocking her view. The only improvement the theater needed are more restrooms.
A theater in the round with very clever sets and staging and good shows. I've seen Oslo and Junk in 2017, both good productions and also both based on historic events. The Saarinen designed theater is aka the Vivian Beaumont theatre, seating is reasonable for Manhattan, not too squished. It's a theatre in the round so you don't miss much on the sides. Beautiful open space and windows looking out onto the nicest part of the Lincoln plaza
Nice theater, plenty of legroom
Excellent theater with great site lines and comfortable seats. Not a bad seat in the house. They mount excellent shows especially breathing life into older musicals in revival.
How can anyone not love the Lincoln Center?!?! A tourist should never miss it but sadly not everyone is into the performing arts. Give one of their shows a try before you say no...I wish it's close to me, would love to simply hang out around it's premises. Grounds are extremely well maintained and not ultra busy. Tip: buy tkts at the box office to save some fees.
We saw the play Hard Problem at the Mitzi Newhouse Theater. I've been a member of the Lincoln Center Theater Club for over 30 years and have seen all of their plays at Lincoln Center or wherever they're staged. The value is good and most of their shows are wonderful.
As a life long New Yorker, I'm very proud of Lincoln Center. Simply mah-velous! Saw My Fair Lady at the Vivian Beaumont theatre. It was a top notch production. The theatre is an excellent venue with great seats and sets, & performances. But for the two rude women sitting behind me who insisted on chatting the entire time, it was an enjoyable experience.
The Lincoln Center Theater is an extremely accessible venue. Almost all seats offer a good view of the stage and the acoustics are good. I find the theater to be comfortable and not overly fancy.
Beautiful theatre with impressive, revolving thrust stage.
Lincoln center is designed to make you feel surrendered by art. The large open space in front, the glass shield wall and the expulsion of lights and thier reflection introduces the incoming visitors to luxurious space, full of modern exhibitions of action and melody, standing in between the columns in front opening spanning a long distance, makes the bystanders feel the aswomness of this place, and waterfronts and the fountains even in the cold of winter makes the air so fresh. You can enjoy the interior spaces even more, there's a lot to see.
Nice theater. Seats as in many Broadway theaters were tight and uncomfortable, but layout is nice. Saw My Fair Lady there. Nice production.
At LCT there are so many activities, plays, ballet, and opera/orchestra playing that there is never a dull moment when one visits the Linc Center.Worth a visit, if you never been and if you can score a deal. Lincoln center out of doors brings in new / up and coming as well as iconic performers. The audience here is a vibrant example of how the arts bring us together and how interconnected we are. Cannot say any more. Very special place for those who appreciate the performing arts.
****
Street parking is always a plus. Nice environment, security on patrol on location.
Enjoyed the Big Apple circus, but wish there were better navigation signs to entrance.
MayFair Lady show wonderfull. Actors and orchestra perform very well together. The staff very nice people. The building, amazing.
Every seat is good... stadium style seating. Even the sides are excellent views.. ....and close to stage .A beautiful theater right in exciting Lincoln Center.
Saw "My Fair Lady" in the spring of 2019. Not a bad seat in the house. New, handicap accessible. Lovely venue.
This is a beautiful theater. The already stunning architecture looks even better when it's lit up at night, and My Fair Lady was amazing.
Saw My Fair Lady in the Vivian Baumont Theater at Lincoln Center. It was an outstanding production. Great cast. Thoroughly enjoyable.
Grassy chair area is new, sometimes a DJ out there on a Thurs / Friday, quiet peaceful
Had a wonderful time seeing the play Epiphany. Recommend it to alk.
A fantastic venue for any musical event. Theater in the round at its best. A top notch production staff that puts on an unforgettable show every time.
The Met opera is marvellous. I do not like the David Geffen Hall so much: a little bit sterile, and the sounds seems to come from very far, if you are in the back of the hall.
It’s a first Class plays the theaters there or all nice you won’t go wrong going to a performance there that is of course if you like it’s been before
The Performing Arts library is always phenomenal. It usually had what I need desk space to work on laptop and quiet.
Great shows here. Best place to visit, even if you're not a tourist.
Beautiful theater with stadium seating! Small enough that no matter where you sit you will have a good view.
It's a beautiful architectural feet that can only be truly appreciated at night with tickets to an upcoming performance in the theater itself.
My recent visit I was actually doing a job in the plaza but years ago I saw Andre Segovia in the Vivian Beaumont theater it was one of the most memorable experiences of my life!
All performances are great!
Great venue....Awesome show....Bravo!!
First time here, very nice venue. Really like the small intimate stage and great seating all around.
saw fiddler on the roof in yiddish here- nice theatre- any seat you get is a good seat- good place to see a show
Lincoln Center and the Vivian Beaumont theater is the bedy. Tonight we saw My Fair Lady and enjoyed it very much.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed the Lincoln Center's production of My Fair Lady. The theater was beautiful and the show was excellent.
Such great theater.
Show was cancelled due to power outage. My only complaint about tonight is that the venue sis not post a sign that the show was cancelled. We stood around waiting because we were not sure if the show was cancelled or just delayed.
The theater is nice. I enjoyed the show I went to. However there is not much leg room even by nyc theater standards.
Lincoln Center Theatre collaborates with the school I teach at in the Bronx by workshopping with teachers, and sending teaching artists to us for 10 day residencies for the development of a performance-based Shakespeare unit.
Magic yo the eyes, inspirational to your mind body and soul with so many catalogs from music to dance to musicals everything related to performing arts and very organized
The Vivian Beaumont theater was incredible. It would be helpful if they had better signs on the street pointing to the entrance.
Love all the theaters at Lincoln Center. Saw show at Claire Tow theater. Small very comfortable place.
One of the best places in manhattan. I made some good memories. If you can get some tickets I suggest you get one. #NYAFF
The great Lincoln Center, nearby Zabars, and discovered a lovely Szechuan restaurant a short walk away called Legends. Thanks to my bro Stephen for the treat.
Good acoustics. Fairly large, but doesn't feel crowded. Great show
Great venue.
Enjoyed watching a wonderful performance of "My Fair Lady". Excellent view and sound from where we sat.
The NYPL performaning arts center is hidden! But a great resource for students interested in theatre and music.
The semi-circle seating is very intimate. The student rush tickets are awesome for a college student on a budget.
Beautiful theatre all seats good. Had a wonderful time
Its a magical place for people who have talent they can really express them self and earn lots of money by doing so if there talent goes far
It’s Lincoln Center! Theatre was cozy and the view was good from the cheap seats! My Fair Lady with My Fiery Lady! 😅 …
Every seat is a good one but would be nice to have a little more leg room.good location.

Twi great theaters. Very good productions most of the time and prices are reasonable. Very comfortable and spacious seating with good view of stage. Helpful and attentive staff.
Beautiful. The evening/Night illuminations are very beautiful. It is 100% worth visiting.
I watched Ballet O Quebra Nozes, the dancers are incredible, the Orchestra manages to take you through the story with just the music, impeccable costumes, environment that puts you in the middle of the story, polite staff! Wonderful venue, stupendous Ballet company!
It's an amazing place, very modern.
Only 4 stars because it gnaws at me not having been able to see the stage. What can I say, one of the most important theaters in the world.
I call it the art triangle. Theatre, opera and ballet, the test is in the same place. And of course the art library.
Small theater with all the charm necessary to host a musical. The seats seemed uncomfortable.
We saw the musical The King and I, not a big hall but a good atmosphere, all the seats are close to the stage and feel part of the show.....recommended
When I visited New York for location shoots and conference meetings, I went to concerts. I don't know much about the Metropolitan Opera. The Juilliard School was so close. (^^)
A fairy tale
Beautiful place!!!!
Beautiful place
Here I was at my first Broadway musical ... impressions vivid to this day
I really liked it
Really a place and event in the class. On a high level
and quality
From the inside I didn’t see this center, I was only outside in big Apple circus
Incredible place.
Kultur wird wahrscheinlich nicht häufig so gut in Szene gesetzt wie an diesem Ort.
Excellent theaters for concerts, opera, ballet
Very nice and above all quiet and clean
Impressive, not only from the outside, but also the selection of operas they have.
To visit, tour and take photos.
If you have a chance to see the New York Philharmonic, go see it.
