Reviews of Lyric Theatre
The Picky Eater
Beautiful theatre. We sat in the back of the orchestra and still had really good views over the seats ahead of us. There was plenty of room and different snack areas and bars in the lobby that it didn’t feel to crowded. We came to see Harry Potter and the cursed child and it was the most beautiful play I have ever seen. It was truly masterful. The venue also had interactive QR codes through instagram which were amazing as well as other cool props from the movies. You can also order drinks and snacks directly to your seat with QR codes. If we could go again we would sit a little closer in the orchestra as there were interactive things that would look even cooler if you were sitting closer. We were right under the mezzanine. We still saw them but better views again a little closer. Go see the show it’s amazing!

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was outstanding. My expectations were impossibly high going into this and I was blown away by the entire production.
There are so many moments that will take your breath away. My sister and I were gasping throughout the play just in awe of it all.
Whether you’re a fan of the original series or not, You will undeniably have a thrilling experience as you try to figure out how on earth they are able to create the magic.

We saw a 1pm Saturday showing of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The theater was beautifully decorated, had plenty of space and provided a inspiring atmosphere! The aesthetics were an incredible part of our experience. The bathrooms were clean, had plenty of space and were also nicely decorated. The staff at the theater were enthusiastic, excited to be there and helpful!

Harry Potter and the cursed child...
This has always been on my bucket list for a while now. With pandemic shutting down Broadway for more than a year, this was the most awaited Broadway experience I wanted to go to...
Being a huge Potterhead I was crazy to go watch it.
It was indeed a magical experience, with some dazzling performances, awesome special effects, smooth transitions! I would particularly like to call out the dementors and poly juice potion effects( when Albus, Scorpius, and Delphi transform into Ron, Harry, and Hermione).
The first few scenes felt a little hurried probably because of the compressed schedule. (Pre-pandemic it was a 2 part show with a run time of over 5 hours). Now it's 3.5 hours with an interval.
Reading the book before watching this show is highly recommended.
Character-wise Albus and Scorpius won our hearts. We also loved moaning myrtle. Dumbledore’s portrait was very well displayed. The entire cast did a commendable job.
This show is in lyric theatre, right at the time square (Hard rock cafe street). It's very well renovated and clean. From the carpet to decor it very well represents Harry Potter.
I did not face any issue from beginning to end and assistants are there to help you in every way. While exiting from the right side, there is a gift shop as well.
I did not book tickets from any website, I purchased them from the theatre's box office 2 months in advance. In this way, I got a wanted seat at a reasonable price. $198 for Dress Circle Row E, 2 Seats 116 &117- no additional tax, nothing. Flat $198 for 2 seats
(Photos are from seat 116)

This is a very pretty theater, with a layout designed for convenience for the patrons. The stage is very well equipped as well, with incredible lighting, well controlled rigging, rotating center stage, all making for smooth scene transitions and special effects. Would highly recommend this theater for any future productions.
That said, the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child production was simply magical. All the practical effects made for an unforgettable theater experience. Personal opinion: could do without the filler dancing segments, and the oft-times intense dramatic acting, but I understand this is a Broadway show, and theatrics are what the people want. Still, an amazing show, condensed or not, and definitely worthy of your time!

Truly Magical!
This is the best show I’ve ever seen. So spectacular with all the lighting techniques. The story and the performers combined is unforgettable. Potterhead or not this show is highly recommended!

SO MUCH FUN! If you’re considering going to Harry Potter & the Cursed Child and already like the HP characters and books, then DO IT! Let this be your sign to buy the tickets now!!! Seriously, tons of special effects in the show, plus humor, romance, truly such a joy for kids and the entire family. The actors make you feel like you’re at Hogwarts and on the train with them to school. Incredible set design, staging, costumes, and of course magic. Not only is the show a blast but also the entire theater is decked out in HP swag, Hogwarts references, the different house banners, and more. Get there early to enjoy and have some snacks or even purchase your own wand or owl 🦉🪄

Beautiful theater for a wonderful show. Even the non-Potterheads enjoyed it. I can’t say enough about the detail that they put into this theater plus they have modern amenities like delivery of food and snacks right to your seat. This is what the next generation of theater is doing right. Can’t wait to see what they come up with next.

Lyric Theatre stands out on Broadway partly by location and partly by signage of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
The entrance was managed well, given that theatre is big and large crowd stands on the sidewalk. They instructed beforehand on what seat folks should come at what time.
Entrance is average and overall look and feel is ok. Food and drinks are available on purchase.
Coming to the play, one last hurrah of Harry Potter is enough for a fan to be happy. The play is well structured and layered. The sound motion on stage effect is something I have never seen before. In facf everyone around me were surprised and confused at the same time.
I felt the play could have been edited a bit more. Running length was almost 3.5hrs.
Overall thanks Lyrics for the play and fun!

Enjoyed my experience at my first ever Broadway theatre !! The stage is very well equipped, with incredible lighting, well controlled rigging, rotating center stage, all making for smooth scene transitions and special effects. So much so that one gets swept away at the magic of it all!
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is simply captivating . All the practical effects made for an unforgettable theater experience. definitely worthy of your time! Even if you have not read the Harry Potter series it makes for a mesmerising experience!
Tip : would serve you well if you read a gist of what Hogwarts Dumbledore Dementors muggles etc are

Amazing theater and amazing show! Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was mind-blowing. Theater staff were incredibly efficient throughout the whole show, although late-comers were allowed in 15 or so minutes past showtime which caused terrible disruptions. I was blinded more than once by flashlights as late guests were guided to their seats.

Me and my friends went to this Broadway show to celebrate my wife’s birthday. She being a huge HP fan she went over moon while watching the show.
I was blown away with the set, lights, visuals, props and sound effects. The effects after the time turner completes was superb. They have very efficiently used the stage and the transition felt so smooth from one scene to another.
I bought 5 tickets online using AMEX entertainment portal which significantly reduced the service fees for me compared to any other online ticket service.
I would highly recommend the show with friends and family. If you are potter-head then you should get ready for a emotional and exhilarating journey.
I am not sure if the reduced show time from 5 hours to 3.5 hours has any effect in the quality of the show. I certainly enjoyed the show for the duration it lasted.
Alyssa Becker
Such a beautiful theatre!! They were well organized, the views were great from all corners, and seats comfortable. The employees were kind and welcoming. The show itself - beautifully done!! It was everything so could have hoped. Highly recommend Harry Potter and the Cursed a Child and the Lyric Theatre!

Ambassador lounge at the theater was well worth it - there was a healthy amount of light eats, full bar, espresso, one drink included, attentive staff, private coat check and private bathroom. Definitely still need to rush to get to bathrooms in intermission as there are only two single stalls for entire lounge. It’s a nice escape from the super busy main part of theater, however not easy to get back and forth to if want to check out all the VR tricks and gift shops around the theater.
Sara Norby
What an amazing, magical experience. The theater itself is worth it to go see the show! The theater was made for Harry Potter, Cursed Child. Even if you aren't a fan, this show (and theater) is a must see!
Eva Dordal
Harry Potter and the cursed child is by far an amazing and magical show. I was not expecting the amount of fireworks and stunts it had but it would not be as good without them. The theater was extremely wheelchair accessible for me and my companion and they bring snacks and drinks to your chair using your phone.
Aubrey Wade
By far one of the best last minute decisions I made when I had a last min free night free in NYC. I found a way to get a great deal on a single seat and this show - opening in 2018 - was originally 2 nights, 2 parts, and still is in London and Germany… is an AMAZING telling of the Harry Potter story.
No spoilers. No give aways. But you will not be disappointed 🥰 all your favorite things, items, you will love it and everything about it.
A must see broadway show!!!!!
Maddy A
Harry Potter and the cursed child was amazing. GET TICKETS IN THE DRESS CIRCLE. That’s where we watched from and it is by far the best view of the show - there is so much going on on the stage and throughout the theater that having the aerial view helps immensely. Would also suggest buying tickets without reading about the story, that way it is more exciting. The effects were truly magical and they put a TON of time into them. Would highly recommend going to see.
AJ
HP and the cursed child: a ten star experience! a must! a-maze-sing! we were blown away...the theatre is great, completely refurbished for the show. only ac was on very low, take a jacket for sitting through those hours. staff was really friendly and helpful. photos are from the decoration and from before the show startet, so I hope its ok to post them here...if you've been, you will know why the wallpaper is incredible ;)

Long lines for buying tickets can be avoided by buying tickets online. Security opened the zippers of the backpack and conveniently forgot to close. They open everything to check including shopping bags and handbags.
Seats are comfortable though like all theaters cramped and close enough to each other causing elbow wars. The middle section is too long and if you are seated in the middle, you have to walk a long way in and out. The restroom are ok but like all theaters and as with all men, there is a lot to contend with about cleanliness and hygiene. I borrowed the audio listening device for my hearing loss and it was of not much use being paired with cheap headset that cannot work with regular hearing aids over the ear.
Setting for the play looks pretty authentic Hogwarts stuff. The special effects, the theatrics, and sound are almost movie quality. The gimmicks employed are great and fleeting and you are left wondering what happened and how. Though if you look closely, you can easily see the people switching robes to transform from one to other and other details. The dementors looked real and authentic and some of the kids were easily scared of them. The centaur looked authentic as did the rest of the scenes. The actors and actresses did a splendid performance in coordinating the scene changes smoothly and the animation of the spells and fights is very well done
Since I didn't know the story or heard all the dialogs, I kept falling asleep during the three and half hours performance with an intermission at 90 minutes. Otherwise my family enjoyed the show. The tickets are very, very pricey but you will carry the memories of Lyric theater, Broadway show and the added label of a renowned play that won six Tony awards.

I'm so God we went! U took my daughter and Grand Daughter! It was superb! The visuals were amazing, the art amazing and the cast was the best!! Thank you Zenga!!

The Lyric Theatre is a fantastic venue for Broadway shows and I recently had the pleasure of experiencing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child there. The theater itself is grand and elegant, with great sightlines and acoustics. But what really made the experience special was the show itself. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was absolutely mesmerizing. The performances were top-notch, the special effects were incredible and the story was engaging and true to the Harry Potter universe. I highly recommend seeing this show at the Lyric Theatre, It will be a great experience that you will not forget.

I had a MAGICAL, fantastic experience watching Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on Broadway. This venue was absolutely astonishing and the ambiance, vendors and ushers made the experience all the more special.
Would absolutely recommend this theatre and to watch Harry Potter and the Cursed Child while you’re in NYC!
Jason Cummings
I went to see Harry Potter & Cursed Child here and I have to say it was probably one of the best acts I've seen. Great choreography, scenery, sound, and immersive experience. Great work.
Pei
I have not seen anything like this though the show HP & the cursed child was long (about 3.5 hours with unforeseen technical issues during the 2nd act) but I have to say the show was mind-blowing. Amazing performance that you should not miss. Check it out!
Tobias Zido
We‘ve watched Harry Potter. It was one the best shows I‘ve ever seen in a theater. The theater itself is beautiful. The drinks are very expensive though, even the waiter laughed about it😂 …
Martin Soler
Amazing theater, the interior is stunning. Seats a great but a little on the small side. However totally worth the show. Saw Harry Potter there, I think the cheaper seats are totally worth it. The expensive ones might be a little steep. But am not an expert in musicals.
John Millar
Nicely done theater. Saw Harry Potter here. Decorated throughout not just the stage. Staff very friendly
L. B.
Saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Lyric. Excellently located theater. Near lots of attractions, restaurants, and of course Time Square. The theater was beautifully decorated with HP themes. We purchased our tickets from TKTS, but obviously there's lots of different sellers out there. Our seats in the center dress circle row E had great views of the stage. The only time visibility was an issue was when a performer would walk down the orchestra aisle below. Upon entry, your bag will be checked and you will go through metal detector.

We saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and it was... Amazing... The story was good, the effects were great. This was our first show in New York and if they are all this good, I'll be back for more... Oh, probably important fact, I'm not much into theater so I think this is an indicator of how much I enjoyed the evening.
Lori Adeniyi
Great seats for the show. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was amazing! I loved the special effects. The theatre staff itself was nothing but courteous and polite, save for one bald guard with an earpiece. I didn’t deal with him directly, but he should mind his tone as he doesn’t know what type of people he may be crossing paths with on the street in the middle of 42nd St.
Chris Bilz
Saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Went with my family who are all big Harry Potter fans. Myself, I knew little about the story line. That being said, spectacular special effects, great props, impressive high tech set, unexpected humour and wonderful acting allowed the storyline and show to stand on its own. Although extra special for those who understood the back story and could appreciate the added nuance. Great family night out in NYC.
Ronnie Neumann
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was a fantastic show, therefore I give the Lyric Theater 4 stars instead of 5 with a little bit of a bad taste in my mouth. The major issue I had was the theater sends out multiple requests for you to arrive 1 hour before the show or you will miss the beginning. However, when you arrive they don’t let you take your seat until 30 minutes before the performance. For this reason for 30 mins you are jammed into a small room with people touching you on every side due to limited space. This would be an extremely easy fix for management. Either allow guests to take their seats an hour before or change the recommended arrival time message.
Apekshit Tatu
Simply amazing. Best thing seen in a long long time.. special effects, the background score, dementors floating around the theatre, actors transfiguring live on stage, chairs flying around, excellent actors, list goes on and on..
F W
Pro Tips: there’s a mobile COVID-19 testing right in front, should you need one. RT-PCR and results within 24 hours. Arrive early for Harry Potter at least 1 hour before. There’s a line for security check, vaccination checks, restrooms, snacks, coat checks. So best be early.
Aside from that, the theatre has been remodeled to fit the show and it was great. The play was superb. No complains. It’s a total of 4 hours so be ready!
Donna Fell
Beautiful theater! Elevator access. Large seating capacity of 1900. Bar and snacks are served. Seat service also available at no extra charge. Potter items for sale in gift shop on 42nd side of theater.
Melissa R
Very happy I finally got to see Harry Potter live in Broadway. The entire show was amazing and the acting was terrific, truly worth it! Although the seating arrangement is cramped and the seat itself was a bit uncomfortable, I can’t be completely upset over it with being just a couple of rows away from the stage and actually being able to say I saw the Harry Potter I grew up with being a father.
Jason Brewer
The Characters were amazing. The set changes were super magical. The transitions between 1-4 year were incredible. They also did this very good fight scene between Draco and Harry. Worst / best part is that umbridge becomes head master and then she dies.
Jeannine k
Beautiful theater.
Saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child a few nights ago and it wad absolutely amazing.
The staff working that night were great and helpful.
The whole experience was truly magical.
Maria
My husband and I visited New York to see The Music Man but stumbled across Harry Potter: The Cursed Child and I’m so glad we fit it into our plans. We opted in for seats C2 and C4 by recommendation of the box office assistant- it was perfect! I definitely recommend these seats if rows A or B are taken up as they were when we visited. We bought the tickets about an hour before the show so if it’s a spontaneous thought- do it! If you buy it in person you can avoid all the fees associated with purchasing them online.
The venue is gorgeous. It’s very detailed with Harry Potter themed embellishments throughout and they offer all the Harry Potter goods you could want!
Unrelated but I didn’t know- there’s a Harry Potter store in New York! 100% go there too if you’re a fan!
Hasanain Hasan
Beautiful play with amazing visual effects simulating magic.
Theatre was comfortable and friendly staff.
Balcony view was ok
Brad Cummins
Harry Potter was great. A bit lo g at 3.5 hours, but didn't seem that long at all. First act wS a bit slow, but more than made up for it with the second act. Definitely recommend!!
Susan Conklin
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was fabulous. Cool special effects. Comfortable seats and free delivery to your seat for food and beverages.
Jakub Król
Totally recommended. Everything is spot on - actors, the play, seating, effects, music, sound... I enjoyed it more than anticipated.
I'm not even that much of a fan of Harry Potter, but I know the lore. And even for me it was spectacular and moving.
Imo there isn't anything or at least much things that can be better for HP's fan than this play in this theater.
Kat Olowu
Harry Potter was awesome! Great show. I enjoyed it. The immersive effects were really good.
Jerald Kng
Harry Potter & the Cursed Child, amazing musical, definitely a must watch, theatre is nice
Sally Stip
The Harry Potter play was amazing!! The actors did outstanding. The magic was fantastic. It’s a must see if you’re a Potter Head.
Kelly Fernandez
Visited for Harry Potter Broadway show. Beautiful theater. Needs toilet paper in the bathrooms though.
Kjeld Noppen
The show was fantastic. Dressing room row D in the middle (110 & 111) great seats.
Juli Williams
Harry Potter and the cursed child was a fabulous play. The whole set was really well done and the theater had little surprises throughout the play that made it more special. The Harry Potter themed drinks were a nice touch. Would recommend this play to anyone wanting to watch a show.
Stephanei Fox
It was a really great experience and the theater was amazing! The cursed was a little long and it did not give us enough time to go to the bathroom during intermission. Gift shop was so cute with all the Harry Potter merchandise! Even the food was wizard themed!
Shubham Kumar
Best experience from my NYC trip. It was magical, the production was thoughtful and surreal. Made magic feel so real 🤩
The actors and their acting (my favorite was Scorpius), the dementors, the immersive experience, occasional humour and everything in between. I am blessed to have experienced Harry Potter and the Cursed Child in this theatre.
Remember, no seat is a bad seat in the theatre!
Get the front rows, the balcony seats or the last row seats. But definitely go go go and watch watch watch!
Brad Yearwood
Great theater to see Harry Potter! The play was amazing, and I loved all the special effects.. We really had a great time and might see it again.
Julian Ott
The theatre is modern and clean, the Harry Potter Play was just awesome. Would definitely go again.
Annisa' Amalia
I watched my first broadway (as well as my first time visiting NYC) in this theater! Booked it thru TodayTix (got around USD 119). The show was truly magical! It was not that big theatre, but I didnt expect such magical show (and stunning effect) can be so real! There is shop too to buy food / some Harry Potter merch (but not that complete).
Jonathan N
Beautiful theater and a lot of fun. Interesting twist on Harry potter. The qr codes in the lobby were an added bonus bringing a bit more magic to the theater. Images danced around the walls once activated
Alex Couto
Staff was awesome. Saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the play was amazing! Knocked one star off as I was under the impression cocktails were hand made but my drink was a mixed drink in a can and it wasn’t good at all and pretty expensive.
M M
Totally redone for Cursed Child. Carpet, walls, everything is part of the theme. Great experience.
Dominika Olszewska
We were so impressed with the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! The special effects are out of this world! The whole experience was great. We bought our tickets online a month in advance - still had a good choice of seats. We went there on a weekday.
antonio de la cruz
Great show!
The place is warm and welcoming.
You can order food a drinks from your seat.
Mrs R
The Lyric is a beautiful, intimate theatre. We attended the Harry Potter production. The acting and special effects are superb. The loss of one star for me is because there are a couple scenes that were just time fillers, maybe stage setters and I simply didn't enjoy the political correctness written into the storyline between the main characters; it wasn't necessary, seemed awkward, not even a part of the storyline.
Reggie Mateo
It’s been a long while since the last time that we were on broadway. Thanks to Broadway week I was able to snag a couple of seats at dress circle for the price of one to see Harry Potter and the cursed child.
This theater is by far one of the biggest I visited on broadway. They have an ambassador lounge that can be accessed privately (not general patronage) with an upgrade fee added to your ticket price.
They also house four bars that offer a wide variety of snacks and beverages.
We truly enjoyed our time watching the show, for three and half hours of performance those snack bars are the life saviors.
Petra Pilgrim
Magical experience as cliché as that sounds. So worth the 4 hours in total it will take. Like a 3.5hr magic show. Come see!
Jorge Yau
Went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The play was spectacular and grander than I could ever imagine. The special effects were dazzling and downright magical. It must have taken hundreds of not thousands of hours to set up the theater for production. Even if you aren't a fan of Harry Potter, the play is worth seeing just for the special effects. Otherwise you have no excuse.
The theater is wonderful and regal and reminds me of Lincoln Center. Restrooms and plentiful and available on multiple floors. Even the downstairs bathroom lobby is nice.
Martin Johnson
Harry Potter was awesome. Great story and phenomenal special effects.
Charles Shapiro
Great theater that's easy to get to. Saw Harry Potter and the Cused Child here, both parts on the same night. Fantastic show, great story amazing production.
Katrina Bizon
I saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child this past weekend and it lived up to high expectations. The theatre staff were friendly, the place was clean, & the place felt very organized for a sold out show.
Tatianna Clarke
Seats were very small and no leg room. It was very painful sitting through a three hour long Harry Potter show. Show was amazing though, loved it.
Shawn Sebo
The theater was appropriately appointed for the show, and the production was very good.
Unfortunately late comers we're allowed to be seated which obscured our view multiple times, and the phone use and talking during the show 1pm wed was appalling
Chadi Alameddine
Beautiful historical theatre on Broadway!
I came all the way from Canada to watch Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and I must say it was a spectacular experience!
I applaud all the staff at Lyric theatre for their friendliness and help, and I recommend this play to anyone who is a fan of the series!
Jane L
This is a review of the theater and not the show.
Lyric is a well-run, organized theater. I came to see Harry Potter and the experience was wonderful. The interior and exterior decor adds to the show. The staff is friendly and helpful. You get numerous emails and notifications on the entrance procedures.
The seating is slightly uncomfortable after a while but it's a beautiful theater. I sat in Orchestra row X on the even side and I missed some of the overhead action. Rows behind P are below the balcony overhang so you will not see anything happening above the audience. I might recommend the balcony over these rows.
Mahima Srivastava
One of the best theaters on Broadway. Won first row tickets to Harry Potter and the cursed child play and it was such a treat to watch it in this theater. It is gorgeous and we enjoyed every bit of it. We got some champagne as well and bar was just outside orchestra.
Sean Pace
Not a Harry Potter fan, but my wife is, so you know how that goes. Enjoyed myself more than expected. Theater is nice. Not bad for our first broadway show.
Kristin Mikie Sword
The show is everything you expect and hope - filled with excitement and magic. Felt as though it follows the tone and cadences of the book series well, with Part One being more light and fun and Part Two, a bit heavier and darker. Really fun treat for any Harry Potter fans and approachable for anyone who hasn’t read the books (my plus one had not and still understood everything).
Also, you can order food to your seat and pre order your wine upstairs. It was a game changer come intermission.
Cathy D
What a fun show! We purposely didn’t read anything about the plot. If you can do it, the Ambassador Lounge was amazing!
Eleni Palmos
Their staff! I did not see an upset or stressed expression on any of them. Every single one, down to the bathroom attendant, was pleasant and exuded happiness. (Maybe because the play on the stage was Harry Potter!?)
My overall assessment is that The Lyric Theater is expert at keeping the flow of people moving. I was towards the end of a long line waiting for the doors to open, but when they did, the line moved through security checks quickly and efficiently. The concession stands are dotted here and there so you can purchase your snacks and move through the crowds. The clean, well-ordered bathrooms had different doors for entering and exiting. No need to push your way through people waiting to enter when you are done.
There was seating by the bathroom and in some areas outside the auditorium for waiting. The seats within were well-maintained and clean. The gift shop items are also available online and I notice they are different selection from any associated with the “Harry Potter: A History of Magic” museum exhibit.
Jorge Peirano
The place is very nice. We saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
I really loved the sets and the visual effects.
But the play wasn't very good and felt a bit "artificial". I had a similar impression when I read it. Here are some of the things I didn't like (SPOILER ALERT):
- all the first part felt rushed. The actors were speaking very fast. This was a "shortened" version of the play that lasts only 3 hours, I understand the need to cut some parts but this was too much.
- all narratives revolving around time travel are a bit risky, as everything becomes possible, and at the same time they can quickly generate a lot of inconsistencies. JK Rowling pulled it of in her books, but I think it was one of the weakest parts of the series.
- going back into the past a few times didn't feel natural. It was a bit like if the authors wanted to revisit some key parts of the books, but it was a bit mechanical
- Ron's relationship with Hermione doesn't work. This was one of the weak parts of the books too. JK Rowling herself admitted that the couple wouldn't last long, if I recall well.
- the characters of Scorpius and Albus Severus were caricatures with no depth. They were whiny and foolish.
- my daughter, who saw the 5 hours play in 2 parts, tells me that in this version they cut a bit the special effects and dementors, etc...
On the bottom line, it was a nice experience but it felt like a sequel made only to make money from a successuful franchise.
William Yip
One of the interesting theater. Not sure bc we are watching Harry Potter, and the decoration match the theme. Overall, the show is excellent & the theater is good & clean.
Carol Koronec
It will be the place to be. When Harry potter curse . They are totally re-designing the inside. It changes hours of the length.
Miss the two parts. The show is enjoyable if you have seen yet
JY
Truly a most spellbinding experience and I’m not just saying that because of the play this venue hosts. Quaint but well maintained, this theatre considers the details to complement the play - down to the floor carpet and wall paintings. Sound projection and effects are great during the the play, absorbing you in the moment. Nice drinks and snack bar, with a merch shop that leaves you spoilt for choice. Service is friendly and swift, security stern but professional as it should be.
Marc Althoff
loved the harry potter play, refreshment package not worth it, but the play was fantastic. theater somewhat old but really fit the play
Phil Probert
Beautiful theatre with very helpful staff. Clean facilities and great beverage options to enjoy during a show. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has been snowing here for a while and it was long but very well done.
Bluue
Steve was amazing, we missed our play, we arrived to Manhattan at the end of the play (due to the borders being busy), people were leaving, when I met him, he did not hesitate to escort me to Libby who also did not hesitate to offer a solution to our unfortunate dilemma and they were both really nice and accomodating

The entire experience was amazing!!!! The woman that helped us in the box office was an angel she helped us solve our ticket problem with ease. The theatre was lovely, the sets were amazing, the actors did an incredible job... My husband and I were mind blown !!

Very nice theater. We visited for the Harry Potter and the cursed child. So the entire theater from the front doors to the back of the theater sports look arge H's. The carpet, walls and flags are adorned with this symbol. Staff is professional and polite. They serve a limited menu to your seat in between acts or you can go to the snack and drink area. Bottled cooks brew coffee is available plus wine, beer and mixed drinks at a reasonable price.
Victoria
While I was in New York stopped by to see Harry Potter and the cursed child. Part one started off slow but will have to say part two was amazing and filled with action and thrill. The bathroom lines were a little long. Al the staff were helpful on helping to find your seat. Overall it was an amazing show!!
Lena P
Small theater. Gorgeous interior. No matter where you sit the view is great. Went to see Paramour from balcony, enjoyed it very much. Snacks and drinks are available for purchase and you can enjoy them right from your seat. Disliked the idea of popcorn sold at a Theater.
Kurt Fifelski
An incredible theater to see an even better show. The way they've transformed the entire building to match the theme of Harry Potter is incredible and really adds to the experience. The foyer is pretty small, so you might as well wait to show up until seating begins 30 minutes before the show. Also seemed like the ladies washroom was smaller than demand.
Jenny Sunday
Beautifully redone theatre. A lot of great attention to detail. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is the current tenant. It certainly looks like they plan to stay a while based on what they remodeled. The ushers and staff were pleasant.
Cori Frede
The cursed child was not the first show I saw at this location. However the remodel they did is beautiful on the inside. Every section of the lobby has a different theme that all connect to the storyline and give you something to look at before being allowed into the theater.
Another reason this theater is amazing is because compared to other Broadway theaters the seats are not completely cramped and they actually have more than one restroom which help speed things up during intermission.
Scott Reynolds
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (Parts 1 and 2) are being performed at this beautiful fully renovated Broadway theater. The interior has been transformed and it is truly stunning. Even the carpets have a Hogwarts symbol!
E C
Beautiful theater with great views regardless of where you sit. Staff was nice but will put you in your place if you try to take photos during the show. They also offer food delivery at this theater! Just download an app and order from it, staff on site will bring it to your seat in between intermission.

If you’re a Harry Potter fan, you’ll love this show. I’m a fan. ;). It’s a two-part show, so it’s a long day, but it was worth it. I was lucky to win lottery tickets via Today Tix so that was a bonus. Great seats too. This theatre was clean. For the above, I would have given more stars. However, the customer service was lacking. The employees were not friendly. They seemed annoyed at being there. This was from the waiter to the ushers. Also, had two drinks and a small popcorn which came out to $45 (yikes) from a waiter that couldn’t even crack a smile.
Ben Vance
Amazing theater and the Broadway show Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was excellent
Dannie Butler
My first Broadway show, let me tell you the staff is amazing. The drinks were delicious and the show was beyond amazing. Will definitely be back to see more Broadway shows!
Dilpreet Singh
Harry Potter and the cursed child is an awesome show. All the performers were great. Very funny and and keeps you entertained throughout. Actors playing Scorpius Malfoy and Moaning Myrtle stole the show. Would defined see both parts again at some point. Two thumbs up👍🏻👍🏻 …
Kevin Torres
Amazing theater, well organized and absolutely loved Harry Potter and the Cursed child.
Anthony Alvarez
Nice but small theater. It gets pretty tight in the lounging area and the refreshment store is pretty small. The ushers and other employees are really great and nice. I sat all the way back in row Z and the view was still really good. The play itself was good but not as good as some reviews will have you believe. If you're going to go I would suggest buying the cheapest tickets you can find and even then $80, in my opinion, is still a little pricey for the Cursed Child.
Hind RM
I want to give it all the starts in the world!!
This show is AMAZING!!
Even if you are not a big HP fan, you will enjoy it
Amazing tricks, funny, great cast, awesome stage
Good merchandise, a bit expensive
10/10

Went on 01/22/22 for the 7PM show. I got there around 6:40PM and there was a bit of a line but it was moving really quick as they had multiple staff members verifying through the line for tickets and proof of vaccination.
The show is divided by two parts, both parts last around 1 hora and 30 minutes each with a 10min break in between so that you may go to the bathroom or purchase something without missing anything.
I was at the balcony in the front row and I was able to enjoy everything without problems, never saw or read anything about the show before and it was awesome and the effects wonderful!
Sarah
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was the most dynamic play I’ve seen. The incorporation of choreography and music into a non-musical really bright a lot of energy to the performance and set the changing tone. The technical mastery to bring this story to life was unlike anything I’d seen. The overall ambiance and seating in the theatre was lovely. The overall performance spectacular.
JimmY MonT
Great theater for HP cursed child. Definitely worth going. Whole theater was an experience.
Save room for popcorn and wine inside.
Vishal Vemula
Just a fantastic experience especially for the cursed child show. The whole production and special effects really blow your mind on so many levels. I had my expectations and this place just blew me away.
Joseph Heilner
Cool venue on Broadway and obviously scoring Harry Potter was a long-term coup. The seating was comfortable and the decor/architecture was grand.
Mary Ellen Mack
Awesome and beautiful theater. Just saw Harry Potter there. Highly recommend going if you can.
Pam Tamez
The theater is beautiful, there are some many details in everything, the carpet, the walls, the ceiling... everything HP related. There is a lot of HP merchandise available, a great variety of snacks and drinks to have during the play. It give the perfect and magical environment for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Leah hauff
This is my new happy place! When you walk inside everything looks amazing and the actual theater was so cool. The play was crazy and my jaw dropped multiple times! I definitely recommend going to see Harry Potter and the cursed child here.
Jasmin C (Jazzimon)
We saw Cursed Child and the theatre was absolutely stunning and the show was amazing. The cast was amazing as well.
Samuel H.
Came here to watch Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. What an amazing show to watch. If you're a Harry Potter fan, you definitely have to check it out.
Scott Griest
Nice theater to see a show. We saw Harry Potter from row A in the Dress Circle. Only complaint is the leg room is tight and seats a little small.
Big Boy 4014 Productions
Wonderful theatre production! Loved Harry Potter and The Cursed Child! 👍😊 …
mur L
Harry Potter was an amazing show. My elementary and middle school age children, my wife and I loved the show. The special effects were truly amazing and kept us all engaged and thrilled for the 3.5 hour show. The show and theater were truly spectacular.
David Sandlin
It was the first Broadway show I've been to and could not have more pleased. Everything was perfect.
Zora Zido
Wow, Wow, Wow!!
This was amazing! Loved it! The play was fantastic. Everything was perfect.
Charles-David Laliberté
The interior has been renovated to fit the play. In my opinion, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Lyric Theater is even better than all of the 8 movies. (The books are still better though). If you love Harry Potter, you MUST see this play.
Jen Stitt
Wow. Just wow! Such a beautiful theater! The remodel is amazing. The secret lounge was worth every penny. Loved Harry Potter too!
Caroline Collins
This theater is absolutely beautiful. Comfortable and has many options for drinks before a show and during intermission. Plus delivery to your seat which is awesome. We visited for HP and the Cursed Child and the theater itself is a key part of the show, which totally enhances the experience. Plus it’s close to many food options so, particularly for HP, it was nice to be able to eat quickly between parts one and two.
msbusyblonde
We saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and loved the details on the building outside and inside. Amazing show and beautiful theater
Matthew Ma
Harry Potter was a great act, and the theatre is fully immersive in the experience
Andrea Montuschi
I visited this theatre to watch Harry Potter and the cursed child, a great production and a a great show in general, bit I was not impressed by the venue.
Seats in the stalls are not steep enough and they are not even positioned, like I've seen elsewhere, in a "checkboard" style. You are basically sitting directly behind someone else and you can only hope to have a short person occupying that seat.
Not my case: we had a row of tall men and women, who forced us to watch the show between their heads, constantly looking for the right angle.
I find this unacceptable, given the prize we paid.
It's incredible that so much money goes into special effects and declarations, and a basic aspect like this is overlooked.
In summary: a very good show, spoiled by a below-par theatre.
Chad Cromwell
My wife and I watched Harry Potter and the Cursed Child here and it was a lovely experience. The staff were very polite and helpful. The show was fantastic. Refreshments and snacks are very expensive. Popcorn is $9.00 for about 2-3 cups. Soda is $4 per refill and the collectors cup is $4 itself, so $8 for a soda and $4 after that. 16oz of cider was priced at $11. Other than the cost, it was an enjoyable experience and the theatre was lovely!
Tara Civitillo
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is currently playing. Every little detail of the theater has been thought out with care. The wall paintings are gorgeous. The carpeting is specific to the show. It really helps you to become immersed in the world. And of course, the show is amazing.
Lauren Cavage
Harry Potter was amazing. The Lyric Theatre is Beautiful. We sat in the last row of the theatre, and just so happened to get upgraded our 1st night! This play is awesome from no matter where you sit..
Go see it..
Diane Albanese
Completely refurbished for the new Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the theater reflects a quiet, subtle British theme to be able to satisfy the hungry American Potterheads. Luxurious alcoves, generous seats (by Broadway standards) seamless lighting, sound, visuals and pyrotechnics bring this production squarely into this technical century. My only problem... Not enough women's restrooms oh, and the exits were slow. Our view of the stage from the dress circle was amazing! We received #keepthesecret badges so I will not get into details. The Lyric contributed to the dazzling Potter storytelling making our experience stupifying!🔮
Amy Alderman
I bought tickets way back in the fall months of 2017, to see both parts of Cursed Child on my birthday this year. The show was transcendent. Reading the script when it was released as a book did it so little justice. Anthony Boyle as Scorpius was an absolute delight, as were the rest of the cast. The theatre is also gorgeous in its own right, so get there early and explore a bit! There's loads of merchandise to peruse, and there's an entire wand section with beautiful replica wands. I absolutely recommend the show, and the theatre in general. Definitely try the frozen drinks they sell on the main floor! They come in a plastic Cursed Child tumbler that you get to keep.
Ham burglar
Great theater. Of all the theaters in NYC,IL,Denver and Miami we've been to,we loved how efficient this place was ,especially in regards to getting in and out. The acoustics are great and the staff was honestly superb.
Matan Shukry
Saw Harry Potter and the cursed child - simply spectacular. The show felt more alive and magical than the movies, still not sure how they pulled some of these stuff
Kaylee Haines
Went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and it was incredible! It was such a magical experience! It was a total dream and I wish I could give 10,000 stars. The theater was amazing, all the detail they put into it, the carpet, the fixtures, Patronus wall, even the signs like the "Cloakroom" was so clever. Our seats were great and it seemed like there wasnt a bad seat in the place. 11/10 would recommend. If you have the chance to see this, it is so worth it. I hope to go again!
Ryan D'Angelo-Sylvia
This theatre was recently renovated for the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child (which is a fantastic play by the way). The seats are comfortable, the sound is good, but the theatre gets VERY cold during the performance so keep that in mind.
Also the concession stands are particularly packed in terms of lines, so try to beat the crowd. Otherwise, great venue!
Gerry E
Saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child parts 1 and 2 here and I have to say that the place is perfect for such an epic piece of theater. Huge theater, separate areas for snacks and drinks. Huge gift shop so you can shop for everything a Pottherhead may want. As soon as you enter, you see a spiralling staircase with just the perfect ambience to make you think you ate entering the hallowed halls of Hogwarts itself. Just go.
Thom Young
The theater was remodeled for the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child plays and looks fantastic. The plays are amazing and a must see for Harry Potter fans.
Jennifer Clear
Gorgeous theater, amazing show! Even my husband, who has only seen the first Harry Potter movie, loved it!
Keith Kaplan
I haven't been to many theaters, but I saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child here the other month and boy did they do an amazing job decorating this theater. I highly recommend seeing this play or any other play in this theater as they do an amazing job.
Erin Wiederkehr
Such an amazing experience! The show was excellent and the theater is beautiful. Our seats were on the far right, but we still didn't have problems seeing everything on stage. It was really lovely.
Celena Westlund
We went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and not only was the play phenomenal but the theatre was incredible. The finishings to connect with the play were just so lovely.
Brandon Chenault
This is a beautiful theater, just lovely. The bartender was super friendly. Most of all, Harry Potter was incredible!
Kevin Broomell
Really great theatre to see a show. The production and presentation is fantastic. Easy to get to. Great staff. Definitely recommend
Adrian McCallister
Amazing Harry Potter play. Very cool theater. First Broadway show. I will return. Just wish I could take pictures without a flash. #culture
Jay Bassell
Harry Potter show was great. Fantastic special effects. A bit long though.
Jessica Sek
Box office was great and gave me last minute box tickets. Theatre is clean and renovated for Harry Potter, and the visual effects are out of this world!
Sophie Thigpen
It was a great theatre, the peiple were nice, it was amazing.
Steven Smith
They've done a marvelous job renovating this building. We were two big boys in the balcony, yet the seats were very comfortable. We loved the shows :-)
Rachel Schiff
The recent renovations of this theater are amazing!! The current show (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child) is a behemoth of a play, and it was amazing to see it performed onstage.
Philip Escobedo
Seeing both parts of Harry Potter today. OMG... I knew they changed the theatre, but it is so beautiful! Staff is great, too!
Bert Stewart
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was a fantastic play. If you have not read the screen play before you go DO NOT read it first! One reading it kinda sucks and two the play however good it was would have been so much better if I had not read it. The theater is very cool. It has been done just for this play so even the carpet and wallpaper are Harry Potter themed it really is a Potter Heads dream. My only complaint it it was kinda more like going to a movie than a play many more people than normal did not fallow theater etiquette but the staff sure did try to have people do so. It was worth the 3 years it took me to get tickets.
Ryan Horne
Had an amazing time at Harry Potter and the Cursed Child Pt 1 & 2 on Saturday Jan 26th. Our seats were row 2 orchestra and we were literally in the action. To keep with the #keepthesecrects theme I wont spoil any major parts of the play. The only negative issue if any would be our seats while in row 2 really based on our location and seating configuration of the theater were really row 1 and some of the action on stage we were unable to see. If your extremely tiny I would not recommend sitting this close. My wife is 5 Ft 1 inch and had a hard time seeing some scenes.Technically the actual first row center (we were right behind this) was even closer and even harder to see. Honestly though the special effect details you may miss are not make or break choosing this location and as a die hard fan it was a dream come true for me. The staff was above friendly and helpful. Merchandise was (and there is lots to choose which changes per part) priced much cheaper than I expected and this was a pleasant surprise as they could have hiked prices up 200% but they didn't. My final thoughts are two things I found helpful. The play has 2 entrances 42nd and 43rd st. We found the 43rd street entrance had a much shorter line to go through security. We breezed through 43rd St for PT 1 but waited in a long line for PT 2. After Pt 1 ended wich was 4:50 PM we had plenty enough time for a sit down meal on a Saturday evening at Olive Garden in Times Square and made it back to PT 2 before they opened the doors. The play ended at 10:10 PM .
Marybeth Weiss
The theatre has been beautifully redone for Harry Potter and Cursed Child. My only complaint is that they are selling obstructed view seats without stating that up front (see pictures). The play was fantastic though and worth taking the day off to see both parts!!
Jess Y
We found the casting for Harry Potter to be lacking compared with the movies. The set was pretty good though, and we liked some of the special effects.
The female toilet is too small — during intermission there were at least 60 women queueing, and when the theatre was counting down from five minutes down to the show resuming, the staff decided to let women use the men’s toilet if they wanted to, and the men going to use their toilet looked confused to see a queue of women there too.
Steven Deollas
Great Broadway show harry potter curse child! Very good acting , 2 day show you will be engaged with effects and much more , it's a must see for those fans of J K Rollings
Christine Alcantara
Went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. When I bought the tickets, I didn’t realize we had access to the Ambassador Lounge - what a treat! We had welcome cocktails, snacks, and intermission cocktails - and there were private bathrooms! The theater was beautiful - make sure to take a look at the details on the walls.
Glenn Whelan
Whether you enter the theater on 42nd or 43rd, the lyric theatre it's a beautiful and creative venue. However if you are here for Harry Potter, it is recommended you enter on the more crowded 42nd Street entrance to get the full immersion into the Potter world. There are large restrooms on the lowest level with a guaranteed line during intermission. In fact, there are much smaller restrooms on the dress circle level that will have a shorter turnaround. Be sure to read the historical backing off the lyric. It's fascinating story is recorded on large sums in the main lobby. This is what theater is all about. Enjoy!
Jan Scelsa
The show, Harry Potter was more then I expected. I love it. The theartre itself was great. Very organized and bathrooms on each level
Matthew McLenithan
Clean, well run, and comfy seats. Saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and was blown away!
Michael Peças
What a magical performance! A beautiful theatre with stunning visual effects for the production. The staff is very proactive to ensure your safety by enforcing masks and reminding patrons throughout the show.
Get there early for the chance to purchase gifts and beverages, the show hits the ground running and you won't want to miss a second!!
Jacinda Downing
Had a really great time although seats were a little crammed, beautiful building and great show
Alex M.
Overall, the show was not bad, but was way too long for me. I felt somewhat tired after it was over because:
1. Sitting in those small seats with little legroom for more than 3 hours was kind of challenging.
2. There were so many prolonged conversations that were not crucial to the overall flow of the story.
3. Sometimes, it was hard to understand some of the actors because they were speaking pretty fast without really enunciating.
The special effects and the "magic" saved the day, though. I thought most of the "magical stunts" were perfectly executed. So, thanks for that!
thomas adams
Seats very comfortable. I'm 6'4..have seen Spider-Man, Paramour, On the town and now Harry Potter. A new spacious theater.
Cindy L
I didn't know what to expect before going since I didn't read this book. However, I did read all 7 books of the original series.
Pros:
1. The stage effect and versatility is unmatched. I was very impressed by how the stage is utilize as well by the special effects. It's better than even Moulin Rouge or Phantom
2. The overall message was really good
Cons:
1. I didn't like the story line or the characters much. The show was 3 hours, it felt really long
2. The theater offered purchase of not just drinks but also food. When the music is playing it's okay but if it's only dialogs, I could hear people chewing and the sound of the wrappers, which made me feel like I was at a movie theater and not a Broadway show. If I wanted the movie theater atmosphere and experience, I wouldn't have paid 10x the price of a movie ticket
Antoine Remiak
Very good performance and very well written. It was a great addition to the Harry Potter story, would highly recommend to any potterhead. Seats were very tight, shoulder to shoulder which became frustrating by the end of the night.
Jennifer Arney
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is so well done. The Lyric theater's renovations are absolutely gorgeous. The seats in the theater are much roomier than I expected. We sat in the balcony and still felt close to the stage.
Travis Dodson
The theatre is beautiful, the seats however are crazy close together and not that comfortable. Be prepared to get cozy with your neibor and being hip to hip. Forget obout trying to leave your seat for any reason.
Serah Uddaraju
One of the best Broadway shows I've ever seen and experienced. Truly magic. Story wise, I felt part 1 was better compared to part 2 but overall definitely a fantastic experience. Highly recommended and worth the price of admission
amanda macgregor
Beautiful detail throughout! Be sure to get to the theater early so you have enough time to walk around and check all the features out the inside is quite spacious, with even roomy seats, perfectly comfortable for the show. There is also a refreshment shop that sells snacks, sandwiches, and drinks.
Suri Kim
I went to see harry potter, cursed child. It was really amazing playing. The theater was also well made to enjoy the show
Colton John
Harry Potter was amazing. The show was fantastic. 4 stars because the seats are really small and uncomfortable and there's not enough stalls for women to use the restroom during the intermission. You had women running into the men's bathroom, people yelling at each other... it was intense.
Anup Parikh
Beautiful theater. We saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child which is probably the best show on Broadway. One tip when picking a seat is to keep in mind that there is a low overhang in the orchestra from rows Q to ZZ. This was kind of annoying to us personally but we were still able to see everything.
Brian Fromal
This was our first time attending a show on Broadway and the Lyric made it something special. We saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The production was unbelievable. Some of the magic and effects used in the show were simply breathtaking. If you have not seen a show on Broadway or even if you’re a vet and haven’t ever been to the Lyric, you need to go. Especially to see Harry Potter.
Steve Tukavkin
Beautiful theater! We saw Cirque du Soleil Paramour and it was amazing. The seats are comfortable and acoustics were top!
Acacia Judge
Saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child here - they’ve completely redone the entire theater with Harry Potter things to make it part of the show. Without question the most beautiful theater on Broadway at the moment.
Kit Parker
6 hrs of Harry Potter. Beautiful on the inside, remodeled for the Cursed Child play. Did I say that parts one and two were 6 hrs?
The seats are getting somewhat similar to airline seats in that the width of the seat is very tight. Also I have never seen lines for bathrooms are long on Broadway as I saw here.
The staff to show you to your seats and to bring concessions to your seats seemed to be battle-weary.
Cass
Blown away! The HarryPotter musical was an absolute experience, it was one of those ones where you leave just wondering how they were able to do everything they were able to do. The story was great. For sure this was the highlight of the whole trip.
Yijie Shen
Watched Harry Potter and cursed child here. Cinematic and use of stage effects were very nice. Very unique experience!
Matthew Gardner
Cursed child is a masterpiece! Love Harry Potter and this did not disappoint. Don't read it first, just come see it. It's meant to be a play! I'd come back to see both parts again!
Mike Metcalf
Very nice theater that has a reasonably priced parking garage on the same street. It was cool enough inside, sound was great and the all over theater was beautiful.
Avi Pruzansky
Very very nice theater. This was my view from the last row in the dress circle. A bit hard to see but you get used it. Didn't like the harry Potter play so much, I know I'm in the minority here
Ari McLean
Went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The theater is breathtakingly detailed. The staff was so friendly and and knowledgeable!
Christopher Pearce
You like the magics, you say? This is for you! Also, get the souvenir cup if you plan on having more than one drink. The women's restroom upstairs has a shorter line (so says the wife) during intermission.
David Kim
Went to see the new Harry Potter play and the theater was very nice and newly renovated. The line for the bathrooms downstairs go faster than up stairs. The lines for the bar during intermission get long and slow
Lisa Hartmann
The Lyric Theatre is absolutely stunning! Entering and exiting the facility was a breeze and the staff was excellent! Here's to being the home of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child for years!
Durk Thompson
The attention to detail is this renovated theater for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is just amazing. From the carpet to the walls. Prepare yourself for a wonderful experience and to be immersed once again into the wizarding world.
Lance Bennett
Absolutely beautiful. The play was remarkable as well. I'm not even a Harry Potter fan but I truly enjoyed it.
Joe Slayden
Fantastic performance of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Without spoilers, the effects were amazing and the theater was very immersive. I highly recommend it.
NCSC
Went to see HP and the Cursed Child here. The theatre is nice. The staff were very professional and kept the lines moving. They made a lot of announcements so patrons could be aware of what’s going on. We went on 2/4 and you must have your vaccine card and ID ready to enter the theatre.
The theatre itself is really quite whimsical and a perfect setting for this play. Lots of parking lots in the area and not too far from subway lines.
Logan Dobbs
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was an enjoyable production in a great venue.
Stephanie Lucas
Saw Harry Potter here about a week ago. I showed up early as stated to review vaccination cards. Staff was friendly and quick. I got a drink at the bar- it was expensive but delicious and boozy. The theater was clean, acoustics were good and the seats were comfortable. There were dedicated safety staff ensuring that people were keeping distanced and masked. I did feel somewhat cramped before people were admitted for seating but overall it was a great experience.
Grace TUFINO
Beautiful theater! Restrooms located below the orchestra balcony levels.
Very cold air conditioning as well.
Nabil Issa
Took one star off because of the tight chairs.
The harry potter play was good
Oscar vargas
One of the best shows I have seen. Staff is very helpful and friendly. I will say that my only complaint are that the seating is very tight. I would recommend getting an aisle seat that you would have a little bit more room
Michele Lennan
Beautiful theatre! Harry Potter and the cursed child was an amazing show- however if you haven’t read the play script/book that came out you’ll be incredibly lost.
Ann Edmundson
Show was excellent and the theatre was totally "Harry Potter" , right down to the carpeting and light fixtures. Quite impressive...
Joseph Sanabria
Love the hpcc show, it’s a wonderful spectacle for all young and old to watch and be fully filled with the joy of a magical sensation!!!
Marilyn vanZeyl
Amazing show *****!
Theater is so cool *****!
But.... Super small cramped seats.
Shamus Sweetman
Very clean theatre. Organized staff made lines move smoothly. Expensive to buy any concessions, but it is NYC so what do you expect.
Mario Barrientos (MJBU)
I loved it. It's a beautiful theatre. I'm glad I got to see Cirque du Soleil paramount before it leaves the city.
Eitan Sela
The shod was amazing! Highly recommended.
Kim Chappell
The theater was magnificent! It had been transformed to enhance the experience of seeing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Liz Mcmadden
Classic historic theater! Beautiful design. Makes you feel like you're stepping back in time! Plenty of outlets and amenities. Smaller than any other theaters so shows feel much more intimate.
E D
Went to see the new version last week. It started well, but quickly felt like we Were watching the play at 1.5 or 2x the speed, (with meaningful character exposition and development left out). The way Scorpius was played was incredibly squeaky and just really ott… Took away from the sweet and nervous character he was written as. Hard to really like him for most of the show.
It feels like the rewritten version has lost all the heart of the story. It’s become a bit of a ‘coming out’ story (which doesn’t quite work/gel with other parts of the story that aren’t) rather than a story about ppl facing their flaws and working to understand themselves and their loved ones, and healing relationships. None of the characters are as likeable, and there is very little time left to feel and reflect on who they are and what they’re learning…
Still an incredible theatrical accomplishment from a staging point of view, but sadly I cannot and do not recommend it.
I would not see it again.
I would encourage People to go to the U.K. And see the two part that’s still available there!!
Laxman Adda
Beautiful theatre completely renovated for the broadway show Harry Potter and the cursed child. It was an incredible show which is a must watch for anyone who is in New York. The lights and of course the actors deserve a special mention and they were spectacular. Broadway week is still going on and you get tickets at half price for few broadway shows including cursed child.
Mike H
Beautiful theatre in which to see the Harry Potter play. The play is extremely well done.
Adam Heare
Beautiful theater! Comfortable seats.
Bhavin Patel
Amazing theater, great staff beautiful upgrades and restoration. Had a great time watching both parts of Harry Potter.
Manny Sergentakis
5 stars for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play. 0 stars for New York City. Walking around New York City is absolutely disgusting. Since when is it legal to set up tables around times square and openly sell drugs. The stench of excrement, urine, and marijuana is literally everywhere in New York City. Not safe for young kids at all. Kids should not be seeing and smelling this. Failed leadership is to blame and nothing else.
Simina Sav-Șamata
Being a Harry Potter fan I had hoped to see this play someday. When I learned that I could actually enjoy it during my trip to New York I just had to get tickets. It was magical, stunning, beautiful!
Ken Weary
An incredible theatre with an even more incredible show. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has the best choreography I've ever seen. It left me and my daughter awe struck. Also the theatre has gone all in to customize itself for this specific performance.
Ivana Parízková
The Harry Potter show was truly
magical and the production was top tier. Amazing choice of a Broadway show for HP fans.
Rose
I really enjoyed the place. Staff were really nice and helpful. Enjoyed the show. I just wish that the seats were a little larger. (I heard other people commenting on that near me). You should go!
Nick K
Great show and we all loved it.
Felix Hofer
The play was really good! But in the first 30 minutes late guest are constantly joining therefore your view might be blocked and you miss parts of the play even though it’s clearly stated that if you are late you have to wait for the first „break“.
Pascual martinez
The harry Potter show was amazing to the fullest extent. I made the worst decision in not eating before i got to the venue. They only sold snacks. Also i was surprised they didnt have anything harry Potter based for sell (except the play merch and owls.). Still great experience
Kripali Vikram
Fantastic experience. Watching theatre on Broadway is a New York must do
Emma Jacobson
Beautiful theater and great play! We went and saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.
Sa Sh
Great place - amazing sets and effective execution for the Harry Potter show.

Was here for the Harry Potter cursed child play and it was a very nice theater and the upgrades they did for this performance was amazing and the attention to detail was unmatched. I do have to say the seats where a little small I am very broad shoulder guy and I had to sit at odd angles to make sure I wasn’t going into others personal space.
Karl Dehnert
Absolutely beautiful, Our view was fantastic. The decor is elegant you become lost in a time long lost.
Kinjal Sheth
This is an amazing experience. The special effects were incredible, left the show still wondering how it was all done.
Khushbu Patel
This theatre is so so beautiful! Don't be like us and show up at the time of the play, come earlier! There's so much to take in I wish I had more time to look around. The play was excellent as well.
Rohan B
Nice, spacious theater. Facilities are clean and seats are comfy.
corbin talley
Saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Both theater and show get 5 stars.
Daniel McDonough
Gorgeous theater that has been completely redone for Cursed Child. Friendly staff, well maintained, great seats, great acoustics, etc.

The show was amazing and I loved the staff They also had cute souvenirs such as chocolate harry potter wands and so on but not quite so good quality of magnets and pins 🥲 You can still enjoy the show even if you didnt see Harry Potter the staff will go over briefly before the entering The theater is a bit cold so a cardigan of something to put on is recommended
Andrea Wu
The theater is awesome! I came to watch Harry Potter and the Cursed Child after winning the Broadway lottery for it. The theater is decorated according to the Harry Potter theme, as there was a room with the different characters' Patronuses and the bathroom area was decorated like the Forbidden Forest. I really enjoyed the theming! The theater itself was also very pleasant, and I particularly appreciated that the seats had more legroom than other theaters I've been to for Broadway. The stage set was really well-done, and the special effects in the theater were great. The sound system was great and the line of sight was pretty good too. I definitely liked this theater more than most of the other ones I've been to!
Marc Young
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a must-see! Can't tell you more but book a flight, and see this NOW.
Claire Mummert
Amazing. This was the perfect place to see a play. We saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It was completely magical!
Matt Harper
Absolutely gorgeous! Aside from play(which is incredible) the theater is amazing. The design is perfect; the staff, the food/drinks, and everything is perfection.
Kristi Weaver
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! One of the BEST shows I have EVER seen! Incredible and a MUST see!

awesome show! love it 😍 …

The theatre was remodeled for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. It looks phenomenal. Everything was very well organized, the staff were all friendly and helpful. I loved that they use a service for you to get refreshments served to your at your seats to cut down on time waiting at the concessions stand. It was easy and stress free to pick up tickets from the box office.
Annalies V
Stunning renovation for Harry Potter Potter the Cursed Child. The patronus murals were particularly beautiful, and there were more thoughtful details than I had time to explore. The theater is a good size, large enough for a big production but still feels relatively intimate - we weren't particularly close to the stage but could still see everything very clearly.
Jorge Deolarte
The theater is beautiful and humongous. Its right of 42nd Street which should be easy to spot but it hides so well. Watched Cirque Soliel, amazing.
rimpi mukherjee
Harry Potter Play was amazing, we totally enjoyed it and would really recommend it to see if you are in the city. It's superb experience.
M A
Beautiful venue, seats are cushy and the details, such as the phoenix along the balcony is a nice discovery. Seats up at the dress circle have decent legroom
Andrew Parkin
Just watched Harry Potter and the Cursed Child here.
EXCELLENT production.
Had to wear mask throughout and, as with other theatres, the mask police were strict (Just doing their job) but all staff friendly and helpful
Katherine Fajardo
The theater has been redone specifically for the Harry Potter play and it is the best play I have seen. It's magical!
Zaira Ramos
Absolutely loved this Theatre!! What an amazing show!
Robert Boyle
This was amazing!!! Mostly because of the show I think, but still a nice theater experience. I saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child here and it did not disappoint. The show was incredible. The theater itself was wonderfully furnished and decorated and I was happy to explore all the things to see inside. The only thing that detracted from the experience was that there wasn't enough space for people to wait while waiting to be seated. The lobbies were just a bit too small to accommodate everyone waiting to sit down. Other than that a magical experience!
James Devine
Recently went to see both parts of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child here. The play was actually much better than I went in expecting it to be; it was a bit slow getting started in my opinion, but the slow start absolutely paid off with some of the unexpected twists that Rowling threw in. Aside from the play itself, the theatre is quite nice. The special effects are absolutely amazing, as they completely remade the theatre just for this show. The only thing that I wish they had was better food options, as they are relatively typical as far as play food goes. Other than that, the experience was pretty awesome and I would gladly see a show here again.
Brandi Riffel
I visited this theater to watch Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. In additional to a great performance, the staff was extremely kind. The theatre was nicely decorated and was even themed to match the Harry Potter universe. Seats were a bit small, but comfy.
Jasmine Messina
The cursed child was a fantastic show! The actor that plays Scorpio, nailed his character! Adult Ginny was also spot on! The show was magical. #keepthesecret

Never in my life have I witnessed so much attention to detail. Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was amazing. Fantastic staff.
Dave Jordan
The entire staff was amazing...but a special
Shout-out to Hector, who is one of the best and most personable customer service agents / usher you could ever hope to meet on Broadway. He took exceptional care of us — even made some great dining recommendations after our theater snacks!
The Lyric has amazing lighting, acoustics, and visibility from every angle...and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was a tremendous two-night experience. Great show; great staff; great venue. 👏
Nathan B.
A beautiful theater! We asked the staff and the whole thing was redecorated when Harry Potter and the cursed child moved in. The design is wonderful and it all helps immerse you in the story.
Kristen Johannessen
Very pretty theater! Staff was friendly. Very clean too! We saw Cirque de Soleil show, Paramour and our seats were excellent!
Emily Bellamy
This theater is amazing. They've redone the entire thing to accommodate for the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play. The seats are comfortable, I can't see how there is anywhere in the theater you WOULDN'T be able to see. Accoustics are awesome. The play itself is absolutely amazing. Stunning.
Catherine Robertson
Wow! Unbelievable! Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was amazing! The “magic” and special effects alone are worth seeing it. I found the theatre to be clean, decorated in the HP themes. The security were efficient at getting people in and out. The ushers “played along” with the show, saying “Happy Voldemort Day” when we came back for part II, cute and pleasant. I was hesitant to spend the $ for a family of 4 to see the show, but I’m so glad we did.
Jonathon Gillich
All I have to say is WOW!! The amount of detail they put into the theatre in order to transform it into a full Harry Potter experience was amazing. They didn't skip out on any of the smallest details from murals, to the designs on the wallpaper. I took a trip to NY just to go here and see a play and it was the best decision I have ever made. The staff was great, the show was exhilarating, I'll carry the memories of this place with me for the rest of my life! I plan on going back to see more plays in the future (as this was the first I've ever seen on Broadway). I HIGHLY recommend the Lyric Theatre!!
Nydia K.
The theater is small but beautifully detailed. Went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The main lobby is small but had exactly what you needed to enjoy the show. A great plus was that you could order what you need right from your seat.
Ben Lauer
Splurged a bit and got access to the ambassador lounge. Totally worth it! Did not have to wait in lines (except to get into theatre), a couple private bathrooms, good table service, a free drink, and finger snacks. It was nice and quiet away from the rest of the crowd with comfortable seats to lounge around and wait. Also, Harry Potter was awesome!
Armando Román
Beautiful theater, very well organized.
Lee Wu
I went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child on 8/10/19. After part 1, I went to get a meal at a local restaurant and realized I lost my wallet. i went back to the Lyric Theatre in the hope I find it there. The staff were very helpful in looking for it. A custodian found it and brought it to security. I am very grateful for the courteous and professional staff at the Lyric theater.
As for the show, fantastic! The cast, the special effects, music, lighting, the theatre, all amazing.
John Davis Jr.
A nice theatre but i just didn't see the ornateness that many of the others have. it is a nice place for a show and it doesn't seem any seats are less desirable.
kei nakagawa
An absolutely beautiful theater; everything felt new and clean. I saw paramour here which was SUCH a fun show. Highly recommend both the show and the theater.
Archna Patel
This was my first Broadway show in NYC. We watched Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Although the story was okay, the production was AMAZING! Also, service there was great too. We had a terrible experience with our tickets so a lady that was working there helped us enjoy our experience a little better which made up for it. I definitely want to go back and watch more shows on Broadway.
Maryruth Barnett
This theatre is a dream! So much leg room in a lot of the rows (especially in the dress circle), MULTIPLE bathrooms with reasonable lines. Lots to look at before the performance. Clean and easy to get around. And Harry Potter was amazing too. :)
Diana C
I was here during Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, and the theater was unbelievable. The details we're unmatched. The seats were comfortable, and we had a great view from the dress circle. The refreshments we're good, and the bathrooms beer clean. Not sure if I should also review the play, but I will say it's amazing. The special effects were nothing short of magical.
Lima
amazing beautiful venue with all the bells and whistles , seats are not fat boy friendly
Paula Barrett
I would have given 5 stars if not for the obstructed view in the front rows of the side balconies. Definitely go more towards the top of the section unless you want to spend the whole time attempting to see over, under or through the railing. As for the play (Harry Potter and the Cursed Child), it was amazing! And the theater went above and beyond with thematic decoration and special effects!
Melissa Smith
We traveled to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The play was amazing! The effects were unreal and made for a great experience. There could definitely be some improvement. The seats are extremely tight and low. The bathroom line wrapped around the corner and down the stairs. The bar only had 2 bartenders so they weren’t able to serve even half the line before the announcement was on to return to our seats. Once the play ended I ran to the restroom before everyone else had time to leave their seats. The production made the experience well worth the stress.
Todd Atkinson (Buchika's)
Awesome theater honestly one of the best and most comfortable on Broadway.
Sam Bartley
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was amazing! The theater was completely remodeled to resemble the atmosphere of the Harry Potter universe and gives guests an incredible experience. The theater pulled out all the stops for the play and I am looking forward to my next trip to the Lyric!
Sammy N
Cirque do Soleil Paramour was very entertaining. Different from the typical cirque shows. This is like a Broadway show with acrobatics
Daniel Adams
Welcome to Broadway’s newest theater! The Lyric Theatre was opened for the public in 1998. However, this venue quickly gained renown around the block. It changed several names in the process – the Foxwoods Theatre, the Hilton Theatre and the Ford Center for the Performing Arts. It has a large seating capacity of 1,622 and is owned by the Ambassador Theatre Group.
It has seen staging of amazing shows like Paramour, On the Town, Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark. However, the most important one beyond any doubt is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. The first Harry Potter musical premiered on Broadway on 22 April, 2018. Before that the show was super successful on West End.
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child follows the story of the well – beloved characters Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny and the not – so – loved Draco, as well as their kids and a few younger versions of other key characters. It revolves around a mysterious artefact called Time – Turner that allows the main characters of the show – the unlikely duo of Albus Severus – son of Harry, and Scorpius Malfoy, so of Draco, to travel through alternative timelines, some of which are very, very creepy.
Have in mind that the show is very long – two parts of about 2 hours and a half each. But the show is a Time – Turner itself, and you won’t know when all that time has passed.
Anon Ymous
We did it. We saw Harry Potter (& Cursed Child) and the thought the venue was amazing. The acoustics and views from all angles were great. The ease of finding seats and of getting in and out was also A+. The show? Very cool indeed and recommended!
Heleen Raes
Beautiful theatre with friendly staff and good facilities. We sat in the back of the theatre and still had a good view.
Miguel Palacios
Great venue for an outstanding play. Can't miss Harry Potter and the Cursed Child!
Daniel Chapman
Saw Alladin here, and would fully recommend to anyone visiting New York. It was funny and a really good adaptation of the storyline, best show I've seen.
Kathryn Hale
Amazing space and wonderful staff! An award winning experience in my book, great way to close out our NY Trip!
Y K
Great show!
Erin Bart
Beautifully redone for Harry Potter and the cursed child. Great selection of drinks and snacks and employees are helpful and enthusiastic.
Elizabeth Harmon
This theatre is very well managed and the staff is very courteous and helpful. Libby was extremely helpful in helping me and my husband (who is in a wheelchair but can transfer) get to our seats and explain the process of where to go, restrooms, intermission, etc. Since we came with a wheelchair we had to enter the theatre on the other side through a different entrance. There was also a separate bathroom for my husband to be able to use that was very convenient and made the experience even more pleasurable. Overall the experience here was fantastic and would highly recommend this theatre regardless of the show that is playing (ours was Harry Potter) because the staff (Libby, Mike, and the lady that escorted us to the theatre from the separate entrance - I'm sorry I didn't catch your name) were so amazing. Thank you!

Went to see the Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Lyric Theatre. I must say that this theatre met my expectations and went beyond that. When talking with one of the ushers, I found out that the theatre was completely renovated for the Harry Potter play. This is not done for other boardway shows. From the carpet, to the wallpaper, ceiling, lights, and custom paintings of the patronums on the interior walls. Everything here is breathtaking. The employees were all in a good mood, very informative, and ready to assist you with taking photos. How the theatre is decorated really sets the mood that you are walking into the world of Harry Potter.
Also, if you don't want to wait in the concession line, they do take online orders before you arrive through their app. This way when your ready to take your sit, they will drop your snacks off. Very convenient. Loves every minute of it.
Victor Utama
We went there to watch Harry Potter Broadway show. It's a beautiful theater just because it's new. But their seats are very comfortable even if you are not sitting in the orchestra level. Great show as well. Recommended.
Drew Morris
The house is majestically refitted to take on the Harry Potter play, and the amount of TLC they put into it shows with all the different places to hang out before the show. The theatre itself is grandiose as well but the show? The. Show. Is. Phenomenal. The things they do with this theatre are unbelievable and your jaw will just hit the floor. I can't even go into specifics because of spoilers, but let's just say it's impossible to even begin to expect what's in store.
Amy Rodriguez
Love the makeover done for Cursed Child! The theater is smaller compared to newer ones in other cities so all seats have a good view. Only complaint is not enough restrooms! Crazy long lines for the women’s’ restroom that take the whole intermission if you don’t get in line early enough. If you want a drink, snack, or to buy souvenirs, you’d have to send someone else.
Aj Townsend
Went to the Harry Potter and the Curse Child. Excellent play the theatre was very clean. Staff was very helpful. Multiple restrooms and food and drink line. Delivered items too your seats. Made the decorations all Harry Potter theme. Fantastic atmosphere.
Nick Miceli
Beautiful theater, nicely renovated and decorated for Harry Potter. Multiple merch stalls with a bigger shop off to the back. Food delivered to your seats. Multiple bathrooms. They even had extra cushions for seats to help short folks towards the back. More legroom than usual. And the magic of the show, well #keepthesecrets but it's pretty incredible. Great experience- especially given how much time we had to spend there between parts 1 & 2!
Joe DeLorenzo
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is fantastic. If you enjoyed the series (or just enjoy a good show) make it a point to go see this. It does not disappoint and you will leave wishing there were more. So much more. For an added bonus, pay attention to your surroundings.
Samantha Barfield
Beautiful theater with a wonderful staff and an awesome team!
Roy Praver
This theatre was recently renovated for the Harry Potter show. Its beautiful! The inside of the theatre looks brand new. Its just a shame that in doing the renovations they chose form over function.
I've been to many Broadway shows over the years and granted, most, if not all, Broadway theatres have tight seating. However, this is the first theatre I've been to where the seating was practically unusable. I'm a tall person, about 6'4, with long legs. I could not sit normally in the seats. My knees hit the back of the seat in front of me and I could not move my legs without intruding on the space of the people next to me. I also could not sit in the seat without rubbing shoulders with the people next to me. Uncomfortable for all concerned.
With the prices the producers are charging for this show, they could have
eliminated maybe 20% of the seats and made it a comfortable experience for all. The threatre was renovated to accommodate the Harry Potter show, which runs about 6 hours split into 2 performances. That's a long time to spend in uncomfortable seats.
This is a review of the threatre, not the show. The show was great!
Grant Stinnett
Went to see the Harry Potter show. One of the best experiences of the year. The whole place was set up in the HP world style with decorations and even carpeting that matched and had magical secrets hidden in them. Beautiful place, easy staff, outstanding shows.
Sarah Diehl
Amazing! The staff was really kind and Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was absolutely fantastic!!
Darya Kraynaya
The show was fantastic but this theater is not big enough to maintain the crowds that attend, especially when it's a sold out show. Bathrooms are tiny and lines are huge. During the break we spent all our time standing in some kind of line. Prices are decent for snacks but wish there were healthier options available.
Patrick Verst
This theater for Cursed Child is GORGEOUS! The seats were comfortable and had sufficient leg room. My only complaint would be that the rows of seats are quite long, which means a lot of getting up if you're sitting near the end of the row and guests come in after you.
Ferras Elshair
This is the theatre that is home to Harry Potter and the Cursed Child play. I believe it's one of the oldest theaters in New York and was renovated for Harry Potter. I can't say a bad thing about this theatre. The seating layout is nice and it's decorated to a very cool HP theme.
Roxanne Barton
The Lyric Theater is currently decked out in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child decor, from the carpets to the walls. Entry to see the show, despite being sold out, was smooth sailing. Vending staff were pleasant & some were super into Harry Potter, which was cool. It made the whole experience even more enjoyable. I'd definitely see a show here again. Drinks are pretty pricey, but standard in terms of what you pay at Broadway shows.
S M
Beautifully renovated for Harry Potter. Plenty of leg space and I love how you could order drinks and snacks directly from your seat. The bathrooms were kept very clean and they didn’t make you stand in line for a long time before entering the theater.
mpeinemann
The Cursed Child experience is awesome. Every potter head needs to go. Go!
Pamela Nowak
This was a well run, organized and beautiful theater to see a play. Just saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and it was excellent. There were lots of families and kids enjoying a quality stage performance. They remodeled the theater for this production and it's the little details from the many old fashioned lightbulbs to the letter H in the carpet and wallpaper that make it fun. Here's a tip, the entrance on 42nd street is less busy and a good one to avoid long lines.
Thomas Schubert
The new rebuild is positively beautiful. SO well done. Plenty of space to gather between shows. I never felt crowded and there was even an appropriate amount of leg room! The bathrooms were clean and there were more than enough of them to keep them from getting crowded. Very very VERY impressed. Well done.
tina williams
AMAZING! We came to see the Harry Potter show (which was spectacular) and spent a total of 6.5 hours here. I was a little apprehensive but the theater is so nice and the seats are truly comfortable. The staff is also great. Courtney at the refreshment counter on the 2nd floor was fantastic. She really made us feel special, remembering what we were drinking and our last names. She also suggested that we pre-order our drinks for the intermission. Great suggestion and I highly recommend that you do the same. The drinks were fantastic as well. There was never a time that we felt like we spent too much. Ever part of the show and theater was well worth it. Thank you so much for hosting the show and we look forward to returning to check out your next one.
Gary Meyer
Went for The Cursed Child. The theater and the people working created the most immersive experience one could hope for during such a show.
Lauren
Harry potter and the cursed child was amazing. Absolutely loved the play. Theater itself is alright. Seats very tight together and very small theater to jam everyone in... they asked you to be there an hour early but didn’t open the inner doors for another half an hour. Packed like sardines! Staff were very nice though, and it seemed pretty clean. I was super happy that they didn’t allow photos during the play -because we were in the back and it would have really sucked to see everyone’s cell phones in the air the whole time.
Jessica Leasure
The theatre is beautiful and everyone working there is super nice and very helpful.
Pearl Mak
Came here for Harry Potter and the cursed child. I loved the grand decor of the space. The entire lobby space from when you first enter is decorated in a dark wood and rich deep hues that's very fitting for the curse child theme, and it really sets the mood for the show.
It's a large capacity theatre, so of course lines and long wait times are to be expected for entrance as well as the bathroom during intermission. Considering this, they probably could still have set it up better.
Ryan Cooke
This theater has been amazingly redone to suit Harry Potter and the Cursed Child perfectly. Just a heads up that if you are in the balcony rows C or D there is a lovely bar that perfectly aligns with your love of sight as they extended the stage out from where it was intended to be.
Kim Phillip
The theatre has been completely redone for Cursed Child- on the inside and out. Hang your coat in the cloakroom and check out the patronus room. Take a look at the detail in walls and the carpet. There's a lot of magical surprises throughout the theatre that go along with the play. You can also get free delivery of concessions to your seat before the show and during intermission. The play truly brings magic to life on stage!
MH Tea
Cursed Child is ABSOLUTELY MAGICAL IN EVERY WAY! I would give the theater itself 4 stars: the seats are small, though there is a decent amount of legroom. The way that they use the theater during the production is magnificent (#keepthesecrets) The staff were helpful and seemed genuinely happy to work there and engage with the legions of Potter fans. This is weird, but the chocolate covered pretzels that are available to purchase in the snack shop are particularly tasty! As usual in any theater, the merchandise is pricey, but is well chosen and themed to the show.
Also note that the theater has two entrances, since it is two theaters renovated to be one. We did not know this and had trouble finding the other members of our party at first ("I'm at the entrance, no, I'M at the entrance!)

The staff were kind and the show was great!
Hoa Nguyen
Beautiful theater. Fantastic performances. Wonderful first time experience!
Veronika Hurtado
Went twice to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the theater is so beautiful on the inside with all the harry potter themed stuff. The play is also stunning, you forget all about the bad script when you're watching it. Imogen's Heap music makes the experience even more magical.
Alex
I went here for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Epic play but balcony seats were not ideal due to everyone having to lean forward to get a good view of the stage. But still good seats to take in all the special effects on display
Wanesia Burch
Small but nice, friendly helpful staff.
Nina Sal
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was an amazing performance! The magic was real! It is absolutely must see!
Brian Lebiednik
This theater did a great job with the Harry Potter play. For this play choose your seats carefully. Under the "balcony" can be troublesome but also beneficial in some ways. Felt we missed a bit but in other ways got more (no spoilers better to see the whole stage)
Mariel Henkoff
After the renovation to host Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the Lyric has really impressed on all fronts. Hogwarts-themed decor and carpeting, thoughtful staff that manage the bathroom lines and show start times with communication devices, and a friendly atmosphere create a wonderful experience for theater-goers.
Matthew “Wholesale Nuts” Baron
When amazing classic theater. So close to Times Square. On the outside he has all these classic columns and Masonary work call. It’s just starting to look at. A real slice of old Broadway theater history. Now in houses the Harry Potter and the cursed child show. I can’t wait to get inside and see it when I can get some tickets.
Thomas Schroeder
This is a very Classy Theater. Great place for a date. I saw cirque du soleil paramour and it was unbelievable.
Erin
Went to see Harry Potter and the Cursed Child and it was amazing, brilliantly done and the cast was phenomenal. Would love to see it again with this cast, the special effects are just spectacular and the work that went into redoing the theatre is just gorgeous. I wanted to see it again even before it was over.
E Perez
Saw Harry Potter and The Cursed Child here and the theater is gorgeous. Sat in second row of the mezzanine just to the left and the show was perfectly visible.
I had been here previously for Spiderman and also enjoyed their set-up.
J Francis
Very cool effects during Cursed Child and of course the whole show was amazing. Like most Broadway seats the chairs are a little small but not awful. If you're late there's a very decent monitor to watch what you're missing.
John S.
Amazing, by far the best theatrical experience of my life. The theater is completely renovated to match the theme of the play and it feels like stepping into a different world. Only complaint was the price of drinks, but it's NYC what can you expect?
Caitlin Bart
Beautiful theater! Love the atmosphere. Saw cursed child there which was beyond amazing but that's all I will say because #keepthesecrets. Love the option they had to have food and drinks brought to you at your seat. Haven't seen that before at a theater.
Damien Wilker
#KeepTheSecrets
Harry Potter and the Cursed Child was amazing, and the renovations made to the Lyric to support it work beautifully.
Tamara P
I had seen Harry Potter and the Cursed Child at the Palace Theatre in London (same lead cast!) and the beauty of theatre is certainly a character in and of itself. The Lyric Theatre has its own unique attention to detail(s) which engage the viewer, and Harry Potter fans will find many unique quirks and flourishes in the public spaces of the Lyric which make the magic of the play all the more enjoyable. #KeepTheSecrets
Patrick McCoy
Saw a play here and loved it. During intermission got some drinks and prices weren't bad for NYC
Michael Kelly (Webs110733)
Show was amazing and the theater was beautiful. Effects and props were the best I’ve seen in a broadway production

My wife and I saw a performance of Cirque Du Soleil's Par Armour in this theatre.
When we arrived there was Aline up but I disappeared in no time. This is due to the highly efficient friendly staff.
Pricing for drinks can be absurd. Mediocre wine for high end restaurant pricing. The in-seat service is nice once you learn about it. The facilities are kept clean all the time and did not cause any disruption.
The view from the seats towards the stage was awesome.we had to seats closest to an isle which allowed me to stretch my legs adhere the space between rows was enough for my wife to sit comfortable.
(Tip: whenever booking being friendly to the cashier is a great attitude to start and then ask the cashier where he/she would sit him-/herself when attending a performance. You know with the seats they recommend you cannot go wrong. These people know it is a night out for you and will do their utmost to make the experience special)
The performance itself is a romantic love story with Cirque Du Soleil artistic elements.
The scene with the flying lamp shades (drones) was simply amazing and absolute perfection in its execution.
It was also great to see theatre staff responding those who thought it was necessary to take pictures despite explicit statement before the show.
After the show the flow out of the theatre was quick and easy.
Daniel Gorman
Besides the show being great, the theater has been fully renovated to match the Harry Potter theme. Seats are comfy, the venue is clean, but as it is for any theater, expect to pay a lot for food and drinks.
S N
What an amazingly immersive experience for the showing of Harry Potter. The place was entirely renovated and has fine details throughout. The show itself was incredibly enjoyable and I would highly recommend for any fan of the Wizarding world.
David Sefranek
Theater is amazing. They really have outdone themselves with the Harry Potter play. Staff is wonderful. Clean restrooms.
The only negative which knocks down a star...the seats. They are awful. Considering the Harry Potter play is very long...the seats being so uncomfortable was a negative.
James Crawford
Paramour was fantastic! The venue and it's staff were phenomenal as well. I would definitely recommend it.
Caitlin Serotkin
We saw Harry Potter and the Cursed Child here. The show is extraordinary. The theater is beautiful, clean and comfortable. We weren't impressed with the snack selection, but everything else was great!
Denice G.
This theatre is beautifully decorated! I saw Harry Potter and the cursed child there and it was absolutely fantastic!
Caitlin M
The extensive renovations that were performed to prepare the Lyric for the Cursed Child were very much worth it - the theater is beautiful, with custom carpeting and wallpaper, comfortable seats in roomy rows, and a lovely old-theater feel. I especially love the dragon and phoenix lanterns and the gorgeous patronus murals surrounding the coat room/lobby area.
Bryan Wohlwend
Wow. The theater was completely redone for Harry Potter and it is amazing!
Diana R
Beautiful theatre, right now it is decorated with the Harry Potter and The cursed child theme. There’s two separate entrances.
P D
Very nice, great staff, everyone was extremely polite. Very clean as well.
Shelly Beard
The theater was nicely arranged with enough leg room for me. The stage area was a bit small compared to those of other Cirque de Soleil shows I've seen, but they compensated by having more of a plot. Overall, it was a very fun performance and the theater was very nice!
Elisabeth M
Reviewing the theater only: the venue has been completely overhauled to accommodate The Cursed Child, and it's absolutely beautiful. The lobby can get a bit tight before the show, but once the doors open there's plenty of room toove around. Coats can be checked for $2 each, and there's a fairly large refreshment area.
Two words of advice: 1. Use the bathroom early (especially if you're female) and 2. Enter through the rear entrance (located on 44th street) to avoid the crush of people and get in line for swag before most people have even found the shop.
Lisa Jones-Butts
Amazing show and lovely theater. They have food and beverage delivery to the seats which is great. Fabulous staff. Not enough bathrooms. The Harry Potter and the Cursed Child production was amazing. Go.
k r
Wonderful experience!! Great play!! Well organized. Beautiful revamping of theatre. Also, audience was marvelous. There were times when you could hear a pin drop!!! Saw parts I and II in one day. Would do it again!!!
Alexandra Lezcano
Cirque du Soleil amazing show performance and great singers!
Damien Takahashi
Love the show and love the theatre

I've seen multiple shows at this theater and the staff is always top notch. Friendly, efficient, helpful. Makes for a great theater experience!

The Lyric Theatre received a massive makeover for the American Debut of Cursed Child. The decoration is phenomenal and throughout the theatre. Even the carpeting is themed with the new Hogwarts H logo, a quill and a sword (that I assumed to represent the Sword of Gryffindor).
Having seen the original production I was interested to see how a certain bit of Part II would be done. Needless to say, the moment was done exquisitely.

I've been to this theater twice. First time was for Spider-Man: Turn Off the Dark (yuck) and the second time was Cirque Du Soleil: Paramour (exhilarating and mind-boggling). The staff have always been on point and the bathrooms are spacious and clean. They'll even deliver food to your seat via smartphone app. It's unnecessary, but a sign of our heavier times.

Beautiful theatre. Professional, helpful staff, most of whom are friendly as well. Bring a jacket, sweater, or shawl- you'll likely be chilly before the show is over. Saw "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" here; stellar production.

A truly beautiful and inviting theater. The in seat bar and snack service is a nice touch, however may be the reason the intermission was the longest of any show I've seen. The seats were relativity comfortable and allowed for the ability to see around/over heads without much trouble.

The show was incredible! Harry Potter and the cursed child. only thing was the seats were alittle uncomfortable

Great theater, decorated in Harry Potter style which made the whole experience of the plays even more wonderful.
The prices for drinks and food are a bit high.
The play is amazing and worth the splurge!

Came here for Cursed Child, twice. Had an amazing experience, twice.
I won't say anything about the show to avoid spoilers. I'll just say that when I read the play, I was so curious to see how they were going to do everything in a live theater, stage setting. Well, absolutely nothing was disappointing!

What a stunning, custom built space housing Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. Every detail, down to the "H" letters on the carpet and walls has been taken into account. The food and drinks are great, the ceilings exquisitely painted. This place is pure magic.

The Harry Porter and the Cursed Child play was amazing! The set and effects were incredible. One would think this being Harry Potter there would be butter beer but the closest thing they have is cream soda. Most people at the Sunday’s show wore dress down business casual. I wore jeans and a nice shirt and did not feel out of place. Only a few people dress in Hogwart robes.

Amazing renovation for the Harry Potter production! So many treats for fans, from patronuses in the "cloak" check area to "H" and wands in the carpet. Lots of places to buy merchandise and treats so the lines are never too long. The instructions to arrive an hour early might sound like a lot, but there's plenty to drink in inside.

Nice theater with great seat arrangement for shows... And now performing paramour with the most talented aerial guys... The Atherton Twins of course :)

Watched Harry Potter broadway here and it was amazing! The theatre house is detailed and vintage too! Sound system is great and seating areas are comfy. Definitely recommended theatre for broadway shows.

Staff was magical and incredibly immersive experience! (warning: cursed child spoilers)
Not just because it was Harry potter themed show, the staff made it such an immersive experience that was worth every cent!
Starting with photo op set up around the theater (inside and out) one woman was taking photos inside just radiating positive energy!!!!
The staff had everything planned out, the merchandise was all changed during part 1 so when we exited the theater there was new materials focusing on Voldemort rather than Hogwarts. The entire staff, even the cashiers engaged in part of the atmosphere and ended every conversation with "happy Voldemort day" after the first act. This is such a small component to the experience but it was possibly the most memorable, I was just asking for help finding my seat and having them ending the conversation with the most casual but cheery "happy Voldemort day" possible.
Now the non staff parts: the theater did everything possible to engage the audience. When it was time to start the play the voice of Umbridge (a character)came on telling us to "put away our disgusting muggle devices and that if found with them we will be dealt with properly." Another small feature that made this truly immersive.

Harry Potter Cursed Child was our 4th broadway play and we were beyond thrilled with the entire experience at the Lyric Theatre. Between the magic accomplished by the show itself and the beautiful details of the theatre it was well worth the time and money spent to visit.

I was in N.Y., and decided that I had to see a Broadway Show! I happened to catch Spiderman! It was fantastic! Since it might have been my only viewing I went all out on the seating, definitely worth it! The show was great, seat was comfortable! Glad I got to experience the old school theater setting!

The theatre not only had very pleasing customer service, it was kept in a very clean condition and felt welcoming. The acoustics in the theater are very well done, with speakers allowing me to clearly hear and discern between actors all the way in the balcony seating.
JOHN COWAN
Beautiful theater where we saw Paramour. A wonderful show and evening.
Andy Stiles
We saw a great performance there with a timely start/stop and helpful staff. Just about any seat had a great view (we sat on the far side near the middle).

Completely redone for Harry Potter and the Cursed Child! From the carpeting to the cieling, lighting to sound. There's not a bad seat in the house.
Security is unobtrusive, and staff is great at keeping things moving - lines for entry, or lines for the toilets at intermission.
The gift/souvenir shop is open every day from 10am until 2 hours before the start of the first performance Wednesday thru Sunday - Monday and Tuesday till 8pm.
Box office hours are 10am - 8pm.
Highly recommended!

The most gorgeous theater, love all of the elegant Harry Potter decor. Spacious and well laid out. Bring snacks with you, popcorn was 10 bucks.

Beautiful theatre decorated in Harry Potter splendor. The façade is spectacular. It is simply magical.

Went to see Spiderman at this theatre. Great theatre - the ambiance if really nice. Seats are comfortable. Do not take any seats on the Orchestra sides - the side views can really ruin a performance. The show was fun and the acrobatics were highly impressive.

Very much enjoyed the Harry Potter. Was a big fan years ago, but not so much anymore. Wondering if it was good. It turned out to be like a movie. Had no idea what's next and had to watch. And visuals amazing!!!!!! They say keep it a secret in the end, for a reason 😉😍 …

Omg what an evening!! Loved it from begining to the end!!!

I saw Harry Potter tonight. Everybody will rightly rant and rave about how good the play was, but I wanted to add to those voices giving credit to the theater as well. There's the building itself: A grandiose recently renovated theater with an old school feel that was incorporated beautifully into this very modern play.
And then there's the staff. One notices good service these days, and the staff here went above and beyond. I got there at the last minute due to unavoidable circumstances; the window staff saw me and asked the woman who was trying to buy a ticket for another day (taking FOREVER) if I could go ahead of her. The floor staff in the lobby then kindly ushered me in as the doors were closing...I got to my seat as the announcement that the play was starting and we should put away our electronic devices came on. The staff in the theater kept an eye out for phones and talking, and the fellow at the exit near me (I was in seat L34) made Harry Potter references about how if we talked or used our muggle devices, he'd "wingardium leviosa" us out of the theater. The staff also chatted with patrons during intermissions about details of the play and the recent renovation; they seemed to be having as good a time as us.
I could not more highly recommend this venue and could not more highly praise the folks who work here.
Dave Berver
Stunning! An integral part of the ambiance as well as the show itself.

I have visited this theater twice in 2012 to see Spider-Man Turn Off the Dark. The theater is right in the heart of times square and easy to navigate to. The only negative is that the seats have very little leg room. Other than that the staff was friendly and the temperature was comfortable.

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child is a must see for any fan of Broadway plays or Harry Potter in general. This theater gave the performance the most special treatment and made it an amazingly immersive experience
I can't wait to come back!
Carolyn Dorph
The theatre was beautiful and the acoustics were excellent. However there are never enough women's bathrooms to accommodate the crowds. However, in all the experience was a very good one.
Andrew McFarland
Loved the harry potter theming. One criticism: they tell you to arrive an hour before the show but dont open the seating until half an hour before the show. So for half an hour everyone is packed into the lobby. I dont know if they are trying to get you to purchase snacks or merchandise, but it was quite annoying.
Eric Souza
Not particular large theater seating-wise, but the stage is large and deep enough to accommodate some sizable productions like Paramour. Doesn't seem like there'd be too many bad seats in this theater. Excellent facilities all around.
Karen Tuthill
If you can get to see Cursed Child, do it! The theater experience is immersive and amazing.
Angela Wilkin
Beautiful theatre but was very cold - be warned bring a blanket or shawl!
Jennifer Dunn
I went to see spiderman last night. The special effects were wonderful! The songs on the other hand left much to be desired. They were not catchy and a little corny. However all the flying around was pretty cool but I recommend you get a seat a little further back or in the balcony so you get to see everything a little better. I was sitting in row C and had to look behind me a lot. The bathrooms were mostly clean and the the ushers were mostly friendly.
Michael Marcos
This theater is surprisingly small, but in a good way. We saw Spiderman and the small seating size offered a more intimate way to experience to play in a way you wouldn't get at other larger theaters. This really comes into play when the characters start flying over the audience.
Jess Kenyon
We loved Harry Potter and The Cursed Child! We will 'keep the secrets' but but here are some not secret things: enter from 43rd Street or from the other side. Frozen boozy cocktails and soda in keep sake plastic cups that you can refill at a discount. 3 tiers of seating with box seats on the side. Merch available for purchas before and after each part!
William V
What a beautiful and fully renovated theater. The Harry Potter show was absolutely stupendous. The whole theater is decorated with very tasteful Harry Potter theme as well. Well worth the visit.
Rudy Scott
A large beautiful theater. Being able to order snacks from your seat was a big plus. My biggest issue with NYC theaters is that it can take forever to exit especially from upper levels and this one is no different.
Lily James
The Theater itself and shows are amazing but it is difficult to get tickets. In fact, I called the box office/costumer service line today to inquiry and a very brash man answered. He was rude and not very helpful. Did not seem willing to help or be polite in any way. I had no idea how to react; Very terrible costumer service for such a wonderful and big theater; I was extremely frustrated, annoyed and disappointed.
Brian Cooper
My favorite theatre. They reconfigured the seats after Paramore, but still comfortable and not on top of your neighbor.
Great spot to watch two parts of Cursed Child back to back!
Charles Rocco
Lyric Theatre was great. It was easy to find and has 2 entrances, which is nice. Well decorated for Harry Potter and clean. The show was awesome!
Andy Kam
Clean and spacious compared to other theaters. There's enough leg room for yourself and others to pass through. Did not see a coat check, two floors with a bar and restrooms each. Refreshments on the first floor.
James Rose
Nicky designed and decorated for the Harry Potter show
Ian Logendra
We saw Paramour here. Great show in a lovely theatre. But really expensive food. Pretzels were like eating dough. So that's one star off. Bring your own food and drink and you'll have a great time.
Tom Aston
Excellent show. GO SEE HARRY POTTER! OK,now that we are past that, the theater was fantastic. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable, plenty of room and could hear without any issues!
Brandon Buckli
Saw Sirius du Soleil Paramour for my very first Broadway show and was completely blown away with the experience. The talent and acrobatics are out of this world. Also, the server on the mezzanine level 6/18 was awesome and very friendly as well. The seats in this theatre are very comfortable and roomy (I'm 6'4") Folks, pay the money and see a Broadway show if it's your first time in NYC. It's so worth it!!!
