Reviews of Little Theatre of Alexandria

Have been going to Little Theatre for years. It’s a small venue so every seat is great. They’ve followed Covid protocols in such a good way-they used cardboard cutouts between sets of seats so the theater felt full but no one was sitting next to or right by you. We had “cats” behind us! It’s a comfortable space. The caliber of the performances is terrific. This is community theater and the acting, sets, directing, etc are always very very good. It’s excellent value for dollar. The staff is super helpful. Can’t recommend it enough
Ed Weaver
Great local venue for plays! Caught a presentation of Tiny Tim's Christmas Carol and they did a great job. 🙌 …
Diallo Bushongo
Nice cozy theater. We couldn't take photos inside so sorry, nothing to show. My only "not so positive" feedback is that I wish there were more bathrooms and that they allow water bottles in the theater or provide some during intermission (only one water fountain). It's a long time with nothing to drink for me. 😁 Other than that, it's a great place to see a show.

I just had the pleasure of seeing Sister Act along with my 6 year old daughter. The performance and cast did a phenomenal job and I highly recommend it. The Director extended an invite to my 6 year old daughter to meet the cast after the show. He was very kind and the entire staff was truly very accommodating and friendly. He made our first experience attending a show at the Little Theatre of Alexandria one that we will never forget and always cherish. Highly recommend and we will definitely be back! Thank you LTA.
Enough Media Productions!
Safe to say this is one of the best community theaters I've ever attended/been a part of! The cast and crew are all so lovely and embracing! Parking is very available and tickets for the shows are all very reasonably priced! Strongly recommend for anyone trying to join theater/come watch a show!
Krissy Kallemyn
We go every year for their performance of A Christmas Carol. This was another wonderful production. The theater is clean and the performance is kid friendly!
Janice Brown
Four of us went to see Sister Act. It was funny and very entertaining. Well worth the price of the ticket which was not bad to begin with. Very nice theatre and seats are comfortable.
Kam Metcalf
Beautiful theater. Great performance (hello Dolly) & I'm not even a musical person. Crummy way to check people in, more for the ushers.
Carolyn Fox Darville
The Little Theatre of Alexandria is one of the best community theatres in the DC Metro area. They have their own building (which makes them one of the only community theatres in the U.S. that has one) with plentiful rehearsal rooms, a lovely Shakespeare garden, and a stage with dazzling chandeliers. They have fantastic classes taught by incredible teachers (some highlights include Voice Acting with Mike Baker and Improv with Keely Kirk). If you are interested at all in theatre, I highly recommend looking for opportunities here whether it be performance or otherwise. It has been a joy to learn and perform at LTA. The costumes are of the utmost quality, and the sets are stunning. The lighting and stage crew are all extremely professional and they have fabulous Directors for all of their shows. Patrons of the arts, look no further for phenomenal local talent and stunning productions at a fraction of the cost of other theatres in the area. Photo by Brian Knapp - A Christmas Carol 2021.

Previous disappointment evaporated with great presentation of "Sister Act." Great cast. Great show. Tremendous energy. A real step up for this troop.
Lizelle Kopinski
Rachel is a fantastic teacher and a great role model and human being. My kids love going to camp with her. 🎭 …
Linda Gehr
Excellent show, "Something Rotten"!! LTA always shines! Great choice of plays/musicals and great cast - very professional! Highly recommend!!
Lynda Laha
Great intimate venue. I attended a production of Christmas Carol and it was very enjoyable.
Beverly Cylinder
Great time...very talented cast...especially Ashley Williams in Sister Act!
Jerilyn Monts
I was so excited to see a production of "Something Rotten" and I haven't been so pleased to enjoy a show AND (cherry on top) "meet" a lovely small theatre in ages! Great production with lovely talent & flair entirely required for their show! Was a member of the first full show house post COVID and truly feel honored. I live about 2 hours away and I plan on keeping the LTA calendar in my (budget conscious single lady) rotation. Amazing show & a really delightful venue. VERY lone and MINOR complaint was that I brought my mother who has some hearing issues but she and I agreed and the RAPID dialogue which could often be kinda muted was somewhat hard to hear. Although, being at an opening night I highly suspect that getting the feedback from a full house this would be an easy fix which probably already has happened. 10/10 Cannot recommended enough honestly and I can be kind of hard on these things. 😂🤪 Kudos LTA! ALSO a quick note COSTUMES we're amazing & after commenting on them to my Mom at intermission I met a woman who's been working of their's for over a decade & I was so happy! This really is community theater at its best!
Kate DeWeese
Amazing, amazing local theater! I've seen Wait until Dark, Christmas Carol, and Bright Star here and all were tremendous performances. The singing in Bright Star was fantastic - I liked LTA's Alice (Maura Lacy) better than the Broadway soundtrack. Set design is always creative, especially for a small space. Doesn't hurt they have such reasonably priced tickets!
SL Ritter
Great theater! Great show! The performers and musicians and costuming and staging were all excellent!! Highly recommend any performance at LTA!
Betty Belanus
Great little theater with a dedicated bunch of actors and crew. High quality community productions. Note, don't bother going to their box office in person to try to save the extra $3 fee, you're going to get charged that fee anyhow due to then using a ticket selling service. But their prices are reasonable anyhow.
Dinah Williams
Great performance. It was extremely warm inside. Although they have a small stage they make it work. Seats are comfortable and view of stage is decent even if you're in the last row.
Tara Jeanne
Tight seating, cozy, old, perfect for small scale , low budget show
Nan Bronder
Loved Sister Act and there is not a bad seat in the theatre
Orlando G.
Well...I had not been to a show in about 9 months. In fact the previous ones I had been to were at Bass Performance Hall in Fort Worth and Winspear Opera House in Dallas. Although I had my reservations about the difference in size of the venue, I can say this: whereas you can SEE the show at larger venues, you can FEEL the show at The Little Theater of Alexandria. I came for A Few Good Men. It was amazing. Stirred up some military memories too and on 9-11 of all days. Not planned :) Thank you to all who were cast on Wednesday at 8PM. Wow
Stephanie Garcia
The theatre itself is lovely and regal, the staff and volunteers dedicated in its preservation and encouragement of the arts. The play that we saw, the Revolutionists, was Broadway worthy.
David Reph
While the theatre seating is a little claustrophobic, the shows are always great
Katie Egan
We saw A Christmas Carol. This is my husband's favorite play and we try to see it live every Christmas. It was almost impossible to find it live this year so we were so happy to see they were doing performances here.
Free 2 hour street parking was very easy to find and we were less than a block from the theatre.
There was plenty of spacing between parties in the theatre and it was fun to see the dressed up cardboard cutouts in the seats in between. Seating was comfortable. Our view of the stage was great.
They did well with all the restrictions they had to work with. There were prerecorded actors being projected on a curtain behind the live actors. At times it looked as if the live actors weren't sure if they were interacting with the curtain or with the other actor live on stage with them. The voice timing of the prerecorded actors wasn't lined up correctly a couple of times. Overall though, considering all the restrictions placed on them, they performed well and I'm so glad they decided to put on the production.
Dana Falk
The show was amazing! Great job! We absolutely loved it! Thank you for entertaining us! 7/31/22
Kadira Coley
This community takes pride in putting on quality theater productions.
Olga Crawford
The plays we saw were very different and interesting. Will Roggers USA was the most captivating and entertaining. Look
Don Rubin
Unbelievable talent! Thoroughly enjoyed the shows we've seen here especially the musicals
C Levin
Great local theater! Excellent productions...well acted and staged. Nice variety in each theater season's offerings. And great value!
William Whitney
Fantastic! We attended 'The Producers,' and it was great! The audience barely had time to breath between the laughs that rolled through each scene.
This is, true to title, a little theater, but the production team did great work with their small space, and the acting/quality was of a caliber I would expect at a larger venue. I was stunned to notice the live orchestra alongside the actors.
If you like theater, even a little bit, find some time to go by the Little Theatre of Alexandria!
M.E.
Great neighborhood theater and very closed 2 famous Old Town Alexandria. The performance I saw, a Few Good Men was excellent. During the intermission one could go to the small little Courtyard nearby attached to the building and also light Refreshments are available for sale. Street parking. Handicapped accessibility. Cute, cozy theater
Louise Watts
Newcomer in town. We saw The Producers last week. Boy, what a gem of a community theater. The production was great. The cast was more than capable, they were delightful. The ensemble numbers were ambitious but really hit the mark. So much energy! The whole experience was smooth, charming. I'm getting season tickets.
Jan Tucci
I went here to see a performance by by granddaughter, so of course, I loved it. This is a very nice community theater that offers summer camps and courses for kids. It is well organized and all the children seemed to love being there. The adults in charge have an excellent grasp on things (I am a teacher) and seem to really enjoy being with the kids. For anyone in the D.C. area looking for a good drama camp for kids, this is a great choice.
Don Mallicoat
An intimate theatre with productions of varying quality.. Parking can be difficult. Administration is well handled and prices reasonable. I have seen an outstanding production and one with varying from good to amateurish. Advise checking personal reviews before attending.
Vlad Udachin
Very well taken care of and cozy theater. Actors are great professionals. We enjoyed The Haunting of Hill House play. It was a bit drawn out to a great length though.
Eddie Edwards
I[ve been so far to two plays. The actors are first class and the theatre is small so there's not a bad seat in the house. Great place for a great price. Always enjoyed seeing A Christmas Carol for the last 2 years.
Tracy Feerick
An adorable spot. Small, not a bad seat. Easy to find parking
John Paul Odle
Having performed in, and attended shows here, all I can say is that The Little Theatre is the most professional Community Theatre in northern Virginia.
From a cozy atmosphere, to a large auditorium and stage, sophisticated lighting and sound systems, The Little Theatre of Alexandria is forever expanding and developing.
If you have any interest in seeing professional shows on a budget, this is the perfect place to do so.
When not under the spell of COVID, the Little Theatre is constantly putting on shows, from musicals, to comedies, to excellent dramas. "A Few Good Men" was especially excellent. However if you are wanting Shakespeare, you are better off looking elsewhere, for whatever reason, they haven't done Shakespeare in decades, even though it has tremendous appeal in the DMV area
Cardoc
My neice brought the house down with her amazing signing skills. The other kids were good too... Linda Wells is and amazing teacher, she is great with kids and so encouraging. The little theater made my night and I know it will make yours.
Craig Conway
Wonderful little theatre. All the actors either studied(ing) in college for drama, or are previous semi-professionals. Live music complements the performances well. Nice rotation selection of pieces. LTA puts a nice spin on some of them without going too far
Michael Kapfer
Fabulous performance of Jesus Christ Superstar. The updated adaptation (modern day) took a little time to get used to, but was extremely well performed. The love Banks was amazing, the set well considered and designed, the dancing and singing were slaving.
Dan Munzner
Saw Dracula at the matinee on Sunday. Wonderful cast, with a well written, true to story rendition of a classic. Set dressing was amazing, acting was superb and engaging. Wonderful show.
Alex B.
Wow! A great venue to watch live actors in historic Old Town, Alexandria. Not a bad seat in the theater. Good shows, local actors and the price per ticket is worth it.
Monty Montgomery
This is a wonderfully intimate theater. It is one of the few community theaters owned by the group. There are multiple performed throughout the year, including during the summer. Amongst the many plays there are also two musicals each season and A Christmas Carol is also performed annually.
Katie Clifford
This is a hidden gem in Alexandria, we saw A Christmas Carol and plan to go back for other plays. It is a community theater, not the Kennedy Center, but for the value the acting and production value was wonderful!
Scott D'Vileskis
Excellent community theater with extremely top notch productions. Great theater, people, and shows! Arrive at least a half hour early to find street parking in Alexandria.
B Manne
A great little theatre. It's a great place to see a fun show for a fraction of the price of a larger theatre in the area. There are plenty of food joints nearby. The play was good. The atmosphere was good. Our evening here was good.
Linda Cork
Will Rogers' USA was wonderful! LTA's "Small Theater for Unusual Times" is a great idea. I felt safe and enjoyed the evening.
Courtney Palmer (PalmerPlanner)
Great theater, great productions, not too big and not too small. It's my favorite place to watch live theater so far
carl gregory
There's not a bad seat in the house! Musicals are almost always really good while some of the other productions are very amateur. For community theatre, it's really quite good.
Ernest Pino

William Kerekes
