Reviews of Municipal Theatre Association
Steve Jones
Beautiful outdoor theater venue with excellent acting and good views. You can pay a lot of money to sit very close to the stage, or get free tickets and sit on the lawn. I love the ability to bring in your own snacks and drinks (no glass, please). Great staff and tech crew. Fans on tall poles help to jeep the air moving. Sound and lighting was very good. Take in some of the beautiful scenery and live music before the show!

The MuNY has amazing performances and the shows are put on well. Chicago was great and I really enjoyed the show as the acting was on point! My only critique is of the theater space itself, and that is the height differences between the rows is small, meaning it’s hard to see past the people in front of you if you are short or even moderately tall. Recommend sitting closer as to not displace your neck in the middle trying to see. Otherwise had a great time!
Jessica Schultz
Absolutely beautiful outdoor theater. Pay for good seats, they are worth it. The seats themselves are a little snug. You are sitting for at least 2 hours, sometimes longer so I wish the seats were more comfortable however in general the shows are truly amazing.
***you can bring in a soft side cooler with water bottles. Please do this! Water is $6.75 a bottle.

I attended my first musical at the Muny since the summer I was 7. It was a little confusing figuring out parking, but the staff were helpful and efficient directing people and answering questions once we got to the theater grounds. It was reassuring that there were gates for people to walk through, staff to check bags and a wand to scan people who alerted the gate. Even with this and the full attendance, there were no delays.
The one thing that negatively impacted the experience was the seating. The seats are not offset and I'm not a tall person. I spent a lot of time tilting my head to see the stage. Even a person two rows ahead occasionally blocked my view. The other issue with the seats is that they are not built for plus size individuals. I came with a friend who has that profile. She was embarrassed and apologized over and over for extending into my seat. I had to pull my arms in and turn slightly sideways not to lean into the person on my other side.
Offset seating and plus-sized seats would have been appreciated. Otherwise, the theater was clean and organized. The stage sets were beautiful and everyone seemed to have a wonderful time.

The Color Purple was professionally executed. The staff was very helpful and parking attendants were very helpful. Restrooms were clean and easy to access. Access to the theatre is steep but help up the ramp is readily available.
Stanley Johnson
We went there to get tickets for one of the upcoming performances. The people staffing souvenir tables were polite. The box office attendant who assisted MJ and me was very helpful. She helped us to determine where the best seats would be in the area we wanted to sit in. She was quite pleasant to deal with. We left quite satisfied with the help we received.

We've photographed weddings here for over 13 years and it still never gets old! One of the most iconic locations for photos in all of St Louis!
Jackie Shelby
The production tonight was The Color Purple. The singing, dancing, and acting was fantastic.
The employees are so helpful and friendly. If you requested a wheelchair, they come back to you at intermission and ask if you need to go to the restroom. That's GOOD customer service. 👍
Cristina Hughes
first time at the muny and i love this venue. you’d think being outside, it would have its flaws, but i couldn’t tell. sound was great and lighting was perfect. my only issue is that the the rows aren’t elevated enough, so you’ll be blocked from seeing the stage because of the person in front of you. this causes you to constantly have to move to see what’s happening on stage, but it’s not the worst thing.
Sharon Murza
Phenomenal outdoor theater with amazing performers and stage management!! Got to see Sweeney Todd here and I had a blast with some good friends. Excited to come for another show!
Reena Roberts
It really doesn't get any better than seeing a show under the stars! I am amazed at each show I go to and never disappointed! Tonight was Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, phenomenal cast, backstage crew, and orchestra. The 104th season was amazing!
"Meet Me ar the Muny" for the 105th year next summer!
William Morris
A couple of friends along with my wife and I got a chance to see The Color Purple. All I can say is incredible, what a great show. I highly recommend it, if you haven't already seen it you really need to.
The performances are excellent and the voices of the characters are awesome, anointed and I would even go as far as to say heavenly. They're good y'all... I know that the Muny is known for great productions and performances, but Tuesday night was almost perfect. The weather was great the atmosphere was pleasant and peaceful. And most of all I loved the mixed multitude of people. The Color Purple was always looked at as a Black film as well as stage show. The audience Tuesday proved otherwise. If you enjoy or love musicals you have to see this one the next chance you get if you haven't already.
Again great show great night.
Dwayne Terry
Beautiful venue that is well appointed. Even though it was 90f degrees there was good air movement. Impressed they started evening with the National Anthem.
Andy Cooper
First ever visit to the Muny and saw legally blonde. Both the show and the facilities were amazing. Thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend a visit if ever in St Louis
david timmerman
I like outdoor theater but this place is good size! The distance seats are far back and hard to see. But of you know that it is an enjoyable evening!
Lucas Garza
Did you know the Muny is the largest outdoor theater in America? If you live or plan on traveling through St Louis during the summer, this is a must attend outing! So grateful for the amount of time and energy that goes into putting on these phenomenal live performances and renditions of classic shows!
Michelle Harry
Saw The Color Purple with my school district on August 8th and hadn't been to the Muny since I was about 7. All of the employees were eager to help and nice. The production was stellar! I can't wait to see another show! As a music teacher, this exceeded my expectations!!!!!!
Amy Padgett
Kudos to the cast of Mary Poppins this evening! A fantastic show 👏🏼 😍 in extreme heat (unsure how they managed in those heavy costumes) This is a beautiful venue. One change that would make the experience better is to offset seats so all can see well. (4-1/2 stars; would be 5 if seats were offset.) …
Michelle Foy
We had a wonderful time seeing Kinky Boots and the lead for the character Lola had a phenomenal voice. There were picnic tables around where people brought their own food and were having a bite to eat before the show. We went for the free tickets section which was excellent! The outdoor theater was clean and had many workers making sure everyone was having a good time. The theatre also had a few large fans moving the air around so you didn’t get hot. Easy parking and concessions offered delicious food and drinks. St. Louis has one of the best outdoor theatre venues! Go- you won’t be disappointed. You are allowed to bring your own food and byob!
Ryan Barton
The atmosphere, the actors, the sets...this is one of THE greatest venues to exist. Check it out.
Make sure you go to their website for tickets or else you'll over pay.
Stanley Johnson
Went to the Municipal Theater for a look around and to my amazement the seating arrangement was made were, can't wait until the warmer weather comes around. matter were you sit you would have a bird's eye view of the stage
Jordan Bartholme
Free seats rock!!
"Come early, though! Free seats are claimed on a first come, first served basis. The gates open at 7:00 p.m. each evening in Lichtenstein Plaza."
Mega Mahr
Absolutely wonderful! Sat in the free seats, and had a great time! The concession stand never had a line, and the staff are the friendliest of any theater I've ever visited. Highly recommend if you're looking for a fun night out without having to spend a lot of money
Hilda G & Kevin Casey
The Muny offers amazing musical theatre. We took the free seats which is amazing they offer free seating. Chairs were uncomfortable but we managed...can't beat free. Definitely a place to go when in St Louis if they are playing any shows.
Mary Baskett
Saw Legally Blond. Fabulous. We ate at the Pavillion. Nice outdoor setting and food was great. What a great facility and crew all around. They had to do some major cleanup after torrential rain, but the show went on.
Andrew Wos
To be honest, the Muny is one of the reasons I moved to STL! I've been to at least 22 shows and I am always amazed at the level of talent of the actors and actresses on stage. Many have even acted in Broadway!
As America's largest outdoor theatre, it also provides 1000 free seats (first come first serve). The line begins to form around 6:00 and then opens at 7:00. Show starts at 8:15. It has easy wheel chair access, and paid seating starts at 15 dollars, and is worth it. Go see a play!! 😄
Megan Anastasia
I love the Muny! I've seen several shows here, and I can definitely see all of the thoughtful touches that have been carefully thought out here. From multiple options for preshow entertainment to sign language interpreters at the shows. The Muny is inclusive and cares about their audience. The quality of not only the shows, but the entire Muny experience is worth a visit - but they'll have you coming back for years!!
Cindi James
I was surprised at how well the outside fans work and that they ran during the show. Continues to be one of the best things about summer in St. Louis. Have a lot of patience after the show, getting out of the park takes longer than you think.
Timothy McCormick
Excellent venue, just short on close parking. Saw Legally Blonde on 7/29, great and respectful crowd. Snack stand prices are outrageous (6.75 for bottle of water) but everything else great
Jason Stewart
I have season tickets my wife and I always have a great time they have large wind mill fans for the hot days, excellent performers. If i had to dislike anything it is leaving afterwards. It takes a long long time to get out of forestpark
Mary rechtien
Fun show Legally Blonde. Fun time beautiful sunset. Good friends and family.
Jessica Davis
We love the Muny! Even with the delay and being rained on it was fun.
M. A.
Recent trip to see Sweeny Todd. Outstanding voices and orchestra. Please tell the production team that there are other colors in the world besides black. Sparse black and brown set, black costumes. Saving money? What's with that big tv on stage? I got dizzy watching that turntable constantly spin. Good thing the director dude had actors who knew what THEY were doing. Sad to see the magnetometer but necessary I guess. Biggest beef? The seats were wet on Sunday night. Nobody bothered to dry them off? If I pay over 100 bucks for tickets I wouild like to not have to use my clothes to dry off the seats.
amanda diercks
Always enjoy a night at the muny! Legally blind Blonde was modernized and very funny
christi nicki
We were rained out of the show we attended. The cast sang us a song on the way out which was sweet. All of the shows I have seen there are great; talented actors and actresses. The food and drinks are over priced. They should rent binoculars. Being in section C is a struggle to see much to say the least.
Cathie Weisenfels
This weeks performance of Joseph and his amazing coat was very entertaining. Tickets are all kinds of prices. The Muny has free seats too.
M P Wilson
The Muny at Forest Park is a treasure! It's impossible to have a bad time. Visit for live performances during summer in St. Louis. It's a hit every time.
Chris Ford
The MUNY is a magical place. They do Broadway shows of Broadway quality. The talent they put on stage is fabulous, often the actor who originated the role on Broadway. The stage and the theater is huge. To be considered a "Broadway" theater, they have to have at least 300 seats. The MUNY has almost 11,000. And they fill this theater several times a season. There are almost 1,500 seats that are free, first come, first served. So if you are willing to stand in line for 30-60 minutes, you can see Broadway theater for free. Each show lasts a week, and you get 7 shows per summer. Group tickets need at least 15 people and you get a good discount, a backstage tour, and a reserved table for your picnic dinner. Because the stage is so huge, every show has to be adapted with additional cast and bigger scenery because otherwise it would look tiny in the space. You can almost always buy tickets the night of the show so you don't have to plan ahead.
Arnett Christy
Beautiful venue. Exceptional customer service. My mother required wheelchair assistance and it was provided with a smile and great conversation. The employees go the extra mile with getting us to our seats and insuring that we have a great experience.
Jeri Dietz
Beautiful outdoor municipal theater. Over 100 years old but still beautiful. Free seats available for every show. A must see when in St. Louis in the summer. Add it to your list. You won't be disappointed.
Alexandra Kathryn Pearl Bookamer
We got free seat in the back, so we couldn't have expected the view to be great. A medium soda (filled halfway with ice) was $6 with NO refills. The show was good, but we couldn't really see any of it because I was so far away.
Ann Austin
Camelot: Very fun staging and modern slant to the script and lyrics as refreshed by television and theater writer David Lee. It’s a lot more than your parents generation experienced with the drops of double entendres from the opening scene. The costuming and set design help to convey this fresh take on a favorite classic. Don’t miss Mordred’s subtle and not so subtle costume clues and set design; after all, he’s just a chip off the old block.
Quinn Kazanecki
Live theatre, outdoors, and fans that can keep you cool(er) throughout the entire performance.
The names of actors in the shows sometimes are straight from Broadway or sometimes a local legend ready to create something wonderful.
Located in the middle of Forest Park it is a great place to spend an evening.
Tips: you can bring in food and drink, just not glass or alcohol.
Free tickets available if you arrive early enough at the top entrance to the theatre. (Because everybody should be able to experience the theatre!)
(Picture from Kinky Boots during intermission)
Greg Beyer
Top notch productions. We have season tickets but the free seats are a great way to go. There were still open seats at show time. You can bring your own food and non alcoholic drinks so it's a great, cheap way to spend an evening
Maria Hamidani
Love the outdoor theater experience. Saw beauty and the beast last year and loved it. Saw the comedy "A funny thing happened on the way to the forum" this past weekend. Even though the play wasn't entirely to our taste we were very impressed with the actor playing Psuedolus. I do agree with a previous review that the seating is a problem. If even an average sized person sits in front of you you will not be able to see most of the stage.
Emily Paul
Beautiful venue. The additions to the stage are wonderful. They do the best shows with phenomenal performers and each time I am blown away. I have sat in a few different spots and have had a fabulous time! Even the free seats in the back are great. They even have great snacks. I usually get the fruit and cheese and cracker tray, but the pretzels are so good too!
play1r2r3r4
Amazing venue! Get there early for the free seats. Don't forget your binoculars! Picnic in line add a bottle of wine for magical evening!
Lauren Emge
Love having this in STL. If you’re around during the summer visiting, this is a must see. Talent is always incredible and cool thing they do is have several rows of free seats.
Kathy Whitehouse
The Muny was always great but with the new stage and lights it's fantastic!! Sound is much clearer, stage settings were more colorful and 3 dimensional. THE orchestra comes forth much clearer and robust. Singing and acting have always been great, but the stage and lights take it into a new dimension worth seeing. I'm proud to be a supporter of the Muny and its 101st year!!
Latisha Coleman
I grew up near the Muny and have never been to any of the plays. I'm taking a Theatre class and seeing a play was one of the requirements. The play was very entertaining. The customer service was AMAZING. My family and I will definitely be back.
Elisa T
Love the Muny! Have attended shows almost every summer since childhood and have seen great performances and have great memories with friends and family.
Amy M
They do an exceptional job of drawing in and connecting with an audience. They bring in great talent from all over the country. They take every opportunity to include ALL people in the St. Louis community, showing art exploration with old and newer shows! I remember coming as a child and sitting in the free seats. Now I am a season ticket holder and love my weekly date with the Muny!
Ashley Robinson
The muny is beautiful!!! I came to see The Color Pirple and it was phenomenal!!! There was however, a huge discrimination issue that went on, but other than that..10/10
Timika Kilgore
I Always Enjoy A Great musical fun for the whole family we seen Annie and the Wiz and I recently Enjoyed the Color Purple for myself!!💜 Great Atmosphere And Staff!!!❣️ …
Joyce Ross
Beautiful production of The Color Purple. Good seats, great sound, the Muny should not be missed. Another Forest Park Jewel.
Peggy Piehl
I have been going to the Muny for over 40 years. Always improving. You can bring your own snacks. Don't forget there are free seats available, over 1000 seats. Very affordable. Great way to start viewing theatre.
Linda Arns
The Muny is a one of a kind theater theater venue. My husband and I have been season ticket holder’s for 15+ years. I always look forward to the Classic productions so I was excited to see Camelot on the list of upcoming shows. Unfortunately we were bitterly disappointed in the production. The main cast members were talented actors on their own but together they didn’t gel in the roles of Arthur, Guinevere and Lancelot. The theater seems to be going in this direction - which would work beautifully in another, newer production. I am old school and feel the Classics shouldn’t be re-written and produced to give it a more modern look. I read Muny’s Camelot was to be a production meant for a smaller stage. The glory of the Muny is that enormous stage suitable for big, lavish productions. If it isn’t economically feasible to produce Camelot or any other classic, move onto another show. We were disappointed and left with many others at intermission. Whether or not we renew our season tickets depends on the next shows. And please give us at least 2 of the Classic musicals each season.
Terri Stogsdill
Beautiful evening for outdoor theater the flowers were all in bloom and smelling wonderful nice clean venue good show love the Muny
Anita Watson
Was at the Muny to watch Mary Poppins. It was a great experience even with the rain. The management was quick in attending to abd accolades to the staff for drying the stage and we had experience only one 30 min delay. The performers and stafe were phenomenal . I esp liked the high and large turbine fans that was cooling on a warm Summer Nighy. I only gave a 4 star because we had to wipe our seats down and gave our towel which made it down a row and a half to help others. I also did not have proper shoes for the rain to make the somewhat steep and long ascent up out of the Muny to exit at the center . I ended up removing my sandals. . We had good seats at Section A though. I also moticed a lighting technician not in safety harness up on the stage trying to look into the lighting. I wasn't the only one that took notice. But overall Bravo for my first time at the Muny and a great performance 👏
Z Man
Excellent show, plenty of bathrooms at least for the men. Free ice in cups given upon request. Great parking available, free parking.
Mama D Ferguson
Always a great time at The Muny! Outdoor theater, under the stars is an experience not to be missed. We enjoyed The Wiz! Free tickets to shows may still be offered from the back parking lot!
Dave Miller
The Muny is one of St. Louis' real treasures. Professional theatre on a grand scale - 11,000 seating capacity. And you can even go for free if you want. The last 9 rows require no tickets, seats available on a first-come basis. You might want to bring binoculars if you want to see close up, but sound is great. And there's nothing quite like the kinetic spectacle of a big production number on the Muny's expansive stage. Free seat section opens at 7pm, show starts at 8:15.
SunRae_P
Amazing show 100 years and still here! Went on the opening night to the Muny and enjoyed myself with my mother! Keep up the good work and will continue to support our local actors/actress
Joshua Alexander
A beautiful theatre experience! Each year gets better! Just saw The Color Purple! It’s such an immersive experience in my opinion.
Nicholas Western
This is an amazing summer tradition here in STL. It’s a outdoor theatre known for musicals. If your visiting STL (or living here) be sure to go at least once. Tickets will go as cheap as $18, and on occasion you can get free entry.
Taylor Steinagel
Omg what a beautiful place! We sat in the back seats for free and could still see the play just fine! Ofc it's a little far, but still a great experience! And the music was wonderful!
John Mathews
103 season and no sign of stopping!! Free seats, private seats, picnics in the park, sunsets and good shows!
Jen S
Every show that I have ever seen at the Muny has been delightful! The very first show I ever saw there was South Pacific years ago and I fell in love. I still get the excitement and awe every time that I've been. The last show I went to see was Seven Brides for Seven Brothers and it was great!! A live show outdoors with the breeze blowing and the sun setting is a magical setting! The smell of the popcorn in the air during the first half is enough to make you want to beeline to the concession stands during intermission. Love this place!
shawn the lesser
The absolute greatest outdoor Broadway experience in the country as far as I care. I invite you all to come and try it yourself!
Patricia Sloan
Beautiful outdoor theater. We love the Muny!
Susan Anderson
The Muny has been a favorite of mine since I was a child. There's nowhere else like it. 100 years of unequaled musical theater!
Will Schmitt
The wife and I went to see my favorite"Seven Brides for Seven Brothers". The performance was just outstanding. It was a very enjoyable experience, even the weather ☁️ was great. Temperature dropped to the low 70's upper 60's. As a community and a proud citizen of the United States of America I believe in supporting our public arts.
Justin Doerr
So much fun. Sitting in the ballsweat humidity is part of the experience. And the acting troupes are very talented. And they always do great musicals and shows. You won't be bored. I promise. But if you're not the kind of person who can be outside in summer, bring bug spray and one of those portable fans. If you sit in the free seats, be sure to sit by the industrial fans because at the intermission it's so nice to catch that breeze.
s Donaldson
Top notch theater productions under the stars at prices everyone can afford! Typically 7 productions lasting around 1 week each over the summer. Shows start at 8:15pm each night and ticketed seating starts at 7:30pm. Most performances have a 15 minute intermission and typically end by 11pm. Advance tickets are available online or by phone. Tickets can also be purchased at the onsite box office. There are approximately 1000 FREE seats available for every performance on a first come - first served basis. Seating for that area begins at 7pm, but you will want to arrive early to get in line and ensure you can snag a $0 spot. Concessions are available for purchase, but you can bring your own snacks and non-alcoholic beverages as long as they are not in glass or metal containers. Casual dress code, with comfort and heat tolerance being vital in this fully outdoor theater. Restrooms available on all 4 sides of the theater. Wheelchair accessible seating available and ushers will help you navigate the hill inside if you request assistance. All ages are welcome, but keep in mind that ALL attendees require a ticket/assigned seat, even if you plan to have them in your lap.
Kim Jones
Hot as hell but always a nice time. Went for the free seats for the first time. Still great seats. Lots of friendly staff to help.
Amma Tamarin
Wish family friendliness was a priority. The shows are great but often inappropriate for kids and people who prefer clean g-rated humor
Mallory Baker
The Muny is such a beautiful outdoor amphitheater, and a staple to St. Louis! While the tickets can be a bit pricey, the shows are always incredible and well worth the money.
Earl Macam
If you've never been to the Muny, you're missing out!
And the best thing, you can go for FREE!!
Becky Galambos
Have been coming to the MUNY since childhood, and have seen so many amazing shows. Lucked out with the weather tonight, nice and cool. Perfect night.
Cathy Ramos
Went for the free seats. Great show! Bring binoculars if you want the cheap or free seats.
Tina Book
I enjoy going to the muny.
I was not sure what to expect from Sweney. I did not care for the plot. The actors were good. Some of the songs were muffled slightly. Good company.
Shannon O’Keefe
I love the muny and can’t get enough of it! Recently they added new fans that a quiet while keeping the area cool.
Mark Engelhardt
One of the best theatre da traditioneal ever.
Betty Foster
This was the first time I have been to the Muny since Covid. It was wonderful. I forgot how much I love the Muny. The production was excellent with great staging and beautiful voices that made seeing Sweeney Todd a truly amazing experience.
Brandon Boutwell
Has some wonderful sites ! Weather wasn't to great but definitely worth a visit !
Jonnathan J Rodriguez
This is to me the jewel of Forest Park, over 10,000 seats in an outdoor theater, where you can enjoy very good quality, well done shows, where you can bring food and drinks and the best part there are almost 1500 free seats! It is one of my favorite summer activities. Not sure what else can you ask to a park.
B.
Amazing place to visit. The performance was amazing. Lots of food and drink areas with a nice selectionof options.
cheryl swyers
Just wait until the Muny Season starts!!
June through August.
Norma Deen Juracsik
Wish CAMELOT wasn't brought up to modern times. Would have loved to see costumes & Englush accents the way Julie Andrew's, Richard Burton & Robert Goulet did it. It looked like actors just wore what they wanted, like one girl had shorts.
Rebecca Peterson
Love this theater. It's a st. Louis treasure and the plays were wonderful this season.
Nancy Hilke
Show was fine but it's horrible trying to park and walk. The handicapped parking is a joke but the lot is so terrible since you changed it a few years ago
Daniel Barnes
There for the Concorse de Elegance Easter weekend. Beautiful place to get to. Bikers and runners apparently do not know how to read as their paths have STOP signs too. They however, just blow through. To bad cops don't ticket these reckless people. The world does not revolve around them.
Zombeatz84
Cool outdoor performance amphitheater. Caught Chicago here while visiting and it was a great show. It was a night show, with a cool breeze. Only downside are how cramped the seats are. They were like airline width and really close together.
KS N
Great show at the Muny last night. I saw Legally Blonde. The singing and dancing was amazing!
Shelley Woelfel
My first time and the Muny this year and it was the Sound of Music. Great music, singers and acting. They had big fans that cooled down the fans. I even seen some people put on sweaters and put on a throw or blanket. Perfect night and can't wait until next week.
Kathy Mocca
Largest outdoor theater, great musicals under the stars. Still living the silent fans to keep things cool. Season tickets for years!!
Anna Aveytia
Always a great performance when I go. Bring a fan or a sweat rag but ALWAYS worth it for the performances. Food is pretty good too.
Alicia Contestabile
This place is gorgeous. The staff are all exceptionally friendly and they go above and beyond to put on a great show every time.
Lisa Crear
I wouldn’t miss a show throughout the season. Great place to bring family and friends. Being a regular of many decades allow my children to explore the Muny kids, before show highlights, and definetrly a cold Rocky Mountain ice cream cone. So looking for to the upcoming season, where stories come to life.
karen mccoy
Friday evening's performance of Smokey Joe's Cafe was fantastic. The songs included many old favorites from our teen years, like "On Broadway", Spanish Harlem", "Poison Ivy", and "Stand by Me". All of these were performed joyfully and beautifully by a wonderfully talented cast. My fellow audience members and I enthusiastically interrupted many of the show-stopping performances with applause and shouts of praise. Thanks to everyone who performed and who built the gorgeous sets, and worked to make this an outstanding show.
Catherine Grindel
Love this place! I wish St Louis audiences were more respectful of the performers and crew
Donna Graue
The Muny is never a let down. Amazing talent. Only the best shows. Not a bad seat in the house, and for over 100 years, the last few rows are always FREE, on a first come first serve availability basis. The main entrance is also a great photo-op location. Many get their engagement / wedding pics taken here.
Jody Spencer
A great venue for shows. The new stage is great, & the new quiet fans (a few years ago) help keep things cooler. The facilities are well maintained. The pre-show live music right outside the theater is fun.
Izzy Marzs
I have been going to the muny for years now and every show here has been incredible, we just saw Camelot and it was so good!
Dorian & Tiffany Harold
Wonderful production of the Color Purple! Excellent Orchestra! Beautiful evening and venue!
Elke Overton
Such a great outdoor theater… Super fun great productions even in the heat!
Chris Bartley
I've grown up coming to The Muny, it's ALWAYS a stellar performance and atmosphere ✨️ 👌🏽 …
Matt Taylor
Gorgeous theater! It is so incredibly large! They have incredible abilities with the space and bring in the best talent. I was blown away by their production of Seven Brides for Seven Brothers!
Jim Thacker
Went to opening night to see Smokie Joe’s Cafe, it was hot but the fans made it really comfortable. The show was really great with some awesome singers, a must see. I also indulged in a brat which was really awesome and afterwards couldn’t resist a Ronnies ice cream 🍦 cone, they’re the best. All in all, a wonderful night! …
Linda Boyle
Very warm evening but the fans made it ok. Great show done well.
WolfGoddess
They recently updated their theater for the new 101st season of The Muny. Went and saw Guys and Dolls. Not really my thing I guess but almost every show I've gone and seen has been phenomenal. Shows like, Tarzan, Les Miserables, Meet Me in St. Louis (my personal top favorite so far). A great place to spend the evening if you like watching plays, with a bit of music. A lot like Disney without the travel and high costs. Would recommend to everyone to see at least once in their lifetime.
Ronald Winker
You don't look a GIFT horse in the mouth. You can enjoy the show for FREE. Highly recommend even if you did not purchase a ticket. Come and enjoy the night outside.
Michael Smith
If you are a fan of theater and enjoy summer evenings, this place is perfect for you. With new improvements made since last season (new stage and LED boards on the side), the experience has been heightened at one of the biggest outdoor theaters. With the ability to choose to pay for seats or not, I'd recommend it to anyone visiting Saint Louis during the season.
David L. Gill
Great shows, great atmosphere, free seats available...what's not to love? 😁 …

We went to see Smoky Joe's Cafe. Enjoyed the show and loved, love, Loved the musical performances. Outdoor venue and the friendly patrons seated around us greatly added to the experience. Good times
April Bryant
I love that they have Dairy Free options. Don't let the "small" pizza mislead you - it is BIG!
Heather Schwantner
Always a great time. Great shows. They do a great job keeping the breeze going.
Meghan H
A gem. I've been going to the free seats since I could first walk and have seen many, many shows here.
Buying tickets for close seats is great too of course, but what a wonderful thing the free seats are. It helped develop a love and appreciation of musicals and live shows.
I've seen concerts here too, and they've been great.
The talent, scenery, effects (real helicopters & fireworks) and ambiance are unmatched. Yes, Broadway is a wonder, and I've loved every show I've been lucky enough to see there, but sitting beneath the summer stars and listening to Rodgers and Hammerstein for $40 or even free ... you can't beat that.
Patrick Andrews
What a fun outdoor theater! Watched a musical with a talented cast and the big turbine fans kept me cool despite the hot summer weather. A great place for a date, though the plays themselves might not be the most child appropriate. All in all a wonderful experience.
David Marlette
Beautiful outdoor theatre venue. Fans run silently throughout the show so it's still cool even though it's outdoors in St. Louis's summer. Wonderful shows each season, great cast, great design. Free seats in thr back make it available for everyone. Wheelchair accessible seating.
Janet Muraski
Love this outdoor theatre! Every night they open up the last 10 rows or so as the free seats, first come, first served. So much fun! Theatre under the stars! You're even allowed to bring your own food and drinks (no glass bottles).
Itsbuttars
We love the Muny. The free seats are great but you have to get there early. Parking can get full really quickly. The paid seating are nice and have the large fans. The shows are different each year and they have season tickets options. In the end it's a fun outdoor theater that puts on great shows.
Quarter Keys (PrinceAnn Land)
Meet me at the MUNY.. the MUNY in forest park!!
Ryan Ulrich
This is such a wonderful St. Louis establishment. It is classy and full of history. Also, with it being in Forest Park, it is a very good place to have a day out with the family before the Muny show in the evening. There are large fans in the outdoor seating area that help a lot when it is hot out.
steve spates
Nice venue. Good shows
Kelly Long
The paid tickets are inexpensive, but there are also FREE seats available! Excellent entertainment
Lorez Williams
It was fun and exciting. We were there for pictures for my sisters wedding coming up. Family and fun...the lighting was awesome especially at night...and the scenery, water, and the peaceful sounds are beautiful. Really never notice it as long as I have stayed here.
Amy K.
This outside theater is such a great place to see truly professional productions. The revolving stage allows for so much creativity in set design. I have never been disappointed in a show and they rarely let the rain stop them from performing!
Dianne Makowski
I love the venue. Beautiful night. Old musical Camelot, great music.
Jamie Perry
The new renovations are beautiful and really enhance the experience. I enjoy attending shows at the muny every summer! Their shows never disappoint. I have even attended many shows for free by arriving early to wait in the 'free seats' line. There's nothing quite like summer outdoor theatre in St. Louis!
Tracey D W
Love this place. Every season gets better and better
Jessica Banner
Great shows, terrific setting! I especially loved seeing "Meet Me in St. Louis" here. While there is not a ton of leg room in the free seats, you still get a good view of the show, and even entertainment beforehand, and the paying seats get more legroom, cupholders, and some great food and drink options.
Marianne Frost
Muny productions are always magical, I enjoyed every minute of it. The performers are excellent and the supurt staff is friendly and helpful. I'm so proud to have the Munyin my hometown.
William Hedgcock
The entire mid west can feel very lucky to have Broadway equivalent professional musical theatre at The Legendary MUNY! The Magic of
the Muny is a four letter word- LOVE! Everyone entering this campus from those in the seats, from the staff, from the artists and stage hands, from the performers and orchestra and even the trees radiate this love. 6 STARS!
Lynda Klarner
The setting its amazing and it is so wonderful to be sitting outdoors and enjoying the show. Even with very warm weather, we were very comfortable. They have terrific fans that are silent and running throughout the show. The mild breeze was delightful. St Louis is fortunate to have this marvelous venue.
Doug Bockover
We got to see the last show of the season "Meet me in St.Louis" it was great. I have been here several times and always took advantage of the free seats. Remember to be mindful of the weather. It's hot and sticky, dress light and airy. Bring water. There are concessions available and all shows have an intermission.
Frederick Eccher1
Guys and Dolls was very good. The women had great professional level voices. The men were good. The duets were the best. The venue is outdoor stage with 1400 free seats in the back that open at 7 PM. The other seats open closer to 8 PM with the opera starting at 8.15 PM. Handicapped parking is free and available. Handicapped restrooms are available. Extra wide handicapped seats are available. I'm going again.
Cheryl Niehoff
I have had season tickets for 22 years and loved every show!
Shelbi Reynolds
Had an amazing experience here with the family. Great job
Sean Hall
The Muny is a St. Louis gem! Get there early for the free seats (the back section) or wait until a later showing to make sure you'll have a seat. There are concessions with all types of drinks and snacks. Bring binoculars in the free seats to see better. There are a few fans but expect to be a little warmer with the amount of people there. No pictures allowed and don't get up during a musical bit!
Julie Herman
It was my first time there. The theater is very nice and the performance of Kinky Boots was great! The behind the scenes tour before the show was informative and the picnic areas were a good place to spend time me before the show started. I didn't get any concessions, but it looked like they offered a variety of beverages and popcorn.
Nathan Nofsinger
Play was excellent. Saw Chicago. Took almost as long as the play to get out of parking area. Need traffic control afterwards.
Pat Cleeton
Good show, great seats, an enjoyable evening!!
Allyn Albritton
St. Louis has a thriving art scene, and the Muny is it's cornerstone. High-caliber productions with local and national talent available in one of the most beautiful outdoor theatres in the world.
Will it be hot? Possibly, but the humongous fans do a great job, and you're allowed to bring a small, soft-side cooler in filled with drinks (non-alcoholic, plastic bottles).
Is it pricey? Depends. Ticket costs vary, but in their mission to support the arts, free seats are available at every show.
Jennifer Humphrey
I love The Muny! Tonight I took a friend who had never been before. I ordered an open faced veggie sandwich without cheese (because I'm allergic to dairy) and the lady who cooked it checked with me about my allergies, took extra time with my food to make sure there were no contaminants, then brought it out to me herself! Great service, caring staff, and excellent food. Treat yourself to dinner and a show!
Dale Carlson
Went for the first time to see 1776. Broadway quality performance in a beautiful outdoor setting. Bring binoculars with if you are in the B sections or above to see the stage. Sound is incredible. Going back for one more show this season.
Aaron Flynn
The Muny is a great experience for St Louisans and Tourists of all ages! Can’t wait to take my three boys ages 10, 7, and 6 to see “On Your Feet!” Tonight!
Skye Gowen
We love the free seats options! Good quality performance and beautiful setting.
Tricia Vincent
Love the Muny...and sweet free seats are available
Deborah “Debbie” Berry
Went w my friend Debbie in a wheelchair....staff pushed her what a help Mary Poppins was poppin...great show
Marc Foote
This is the country's largest outdoor theater. There are FREE seats if you get here early enough. It's a great time, weather permitting.
Katie Clayton
The Muny has been bringing such fabulous shows to us every year! It is such a beautiful way to spend an evening. The outdoor theater used to be super hot on summer nights, but this has been alleviated somewhat by huge fans that are so quiet they can run during the performances. The performances are so entertaining, the performers have clearly put so much work in to their shows, and I leave happy I was there every time. One word of caution however, because of the way the park is laid out, parking is a huge challenge. Either arrive super early to park in the close lot, or wear some comfy shoes, because you will be walking! When the show ends, you will have to probably wait in your car for some time to be able to drive your way back out of the park on the packed park streets. On the plus side, the park is beautiful to see in my opinion.
Kevin Hacker (Khacker)
A timely musical to celebrate our country's birthday. Great company. A warm ,sticky night just like our founding fathers experience. Love the new stage added to the experience. I could see Hamilton coming soon. Good job Muny
Wendy Meese
I love coming to the Muny in the summer for a show. My only complaint is that the concessions are beyond outrageously priced. We compensate for that by bringing our own picnic and make it an evening. Be prepared to wait to exit but even that isn't bad as people are the most kind and polite in general. Come try it out if you've never been!
V Spins
Saw Footloose, the show was great. However, if you're going with plans to sit in the free seats please save yourself a hike and find parking near the back of the theater. Also, they say seating starts at 7PM but again if you're wanting to sit in the free seats be there by 5PM or 6PM because seating is limited to 9 rows and they are open before the 7PM seating time.
K Carlisle
My husband and I enjoyed our visit at the Muny. The staff was friendly and the weather was just right. I would suggest bringing a portable seat cushion to make things a little more comfortable. Check with the staff if you need a slight larger seat because they can direct you to them. Also, I was surprised that the mosquitos weren't too bad. People brought their own drinks and food. Next time, I will be taking my own snack.
Dawn Moore Reiff
Great staff. Amazing system to get audience through bathroom during intermission. Super show. We saw Sound of Music and it was fantastic.
Victoria Andrus
I'm a professional pit orchestra musician. Saw a musical. Sat in the $15 seats, not the free ones but the rows right in front of that. Sound was to quiet, couldn't understand all the words. Seats were pretty small and really no leg room so I was very uncomfortable and squished the whole time. People around me were very loud, having conversations, singing along, making comments. Lots of people got up and left early to beat the traffic. The play, the dancing, the acting, the sets- all very good! The building and fountains are very nice, I like the art deco style. It is really wonderful that you can get free and reasonably priced tickets to see performances like this. I'd like to see additional speakers placed along the sides or hung over the middle of the audience. I also felt that the balance of instruments coming from the pit orchestra was off. From where I was I could only hear the brass and percussion, no strings and harldy any woodwind.
Ashley Ostler
Such a great experience seeing Mary Poppins. Great production and talent, fun atmosphere
Emily Morrison
We had VIP parking which was great... Except that I drove around for half an hour trying to find it. Staff was helpful. Had to ask for directions/help several times trying to figure out where to go. Drink options are good but you have to get in a separate line and by the time we got through the line we missed the beginning of the second half of the show. The show was very good and the actors were fantastic! I'll seek out future shows to see these preformers again!
Mandy Morrison
Beautiful facility and excellent production. This place runs like a well oiled machine. The staff is very friendly and helpful; all night I saw them assisting elderly and disabled . The theater portion is set on a rather steep incline but if you are disabled or simply can't get around well you have no need to worry. There are special porters who run wheelchairs around to assist those in need, pushing them to their seats, the restrooms, etc. Don't let anything keep you from coming to the Muny to see one of their fantastic productions! On my visit my group and I ate at their buffet before the show; the food and the service were remarkable. I have a food allergy and the chef and his staff came to speak to me personally, they even made me a special dish and brought it to me. I was really impressed with their eagerness to accommodate my dietary needs as well as their friendliness. Finally, I can't say enough good things about the production of Kinky Boots; the actors are so talented and I was truly blown away by their professionalism. If you haven't been to the Muny, make it a point to go soon!
meghan baumann
the muny is my favorite place to go during the summer. they have amazing shows every year and the staff is amazing. they try their best to make your night enjoyable and relaxing.
Glamourous Glam'Ma
Saw Smokey Joe's Cafe, the stage presence was above average!!!!! Muny updated their metal detectors which minimize contact, nice to have a season this year
Geri Baum
The Muny is the best. Love the productions and the talent on the huge outdoor stage. The newer fans really help cool things down on a hot Saint Louis evening and are so quiet you don't hear them running at all.
Amber Callan
The MUNY is the highlight of our summer. For four years now, my mom, sister and I have had season tickets and we love every moment we spend under the big fans, watching musicals. I highly recommend visiting for a show and it's one of the things I love most about living in St Louis!
Jody Miles
My family and I love Forest Park, Mummy included.
Cindy Tharp
Best part of the evening was the fireworks. Very faithful patrons and I'm one of them as a season ticket holder but was a little disapointed in the overall show. The talent was great just was expecting more music and less talking. Looking forward to the one hundredth season. Why orange for the new facade its a pretty bold color.,
Jason Martin
Love watching musicals here with the family on a warm St. Louis evening.
Kevin Keadle
Wonderful outdoor theater. Generally good performances by professional theater crews. Seating isn't the most logical layout (shallow rise and seats are moot offset from one row to the next). Food and drinks are sold there and allowed at the seats (including alcoholic beverages)
Claudia Vaughn
I am visiting from out of town and as we were touring the Forest Park we passed by the Muni and decided to ask about tickets for their upcoming play (Paint your Wagon). The rice was not too expensive and decided to come and see it. What a lovely place! The stage, the orchestra the setting of the theater in the middle of the park, wow! One of my other favorite parts of the night besides the performance was listening to nature (frogs, crickets amongst a few others) along with the performance. What a magnificent experience. Bravo👏👏
Adrian Grellner
Great place to enjoy opera with one exception the seating would be better if it was offset not one directly behind the other.
Mike R
Very spacious. Very big. Seats are well spaced apart. The isles are very amply wide. The food is very decent and the tickets are nicely priced. They even have free seats. I love this place. All the shows are very good. The outdoor area is big and amazingly decorated.
Darla Rucker
The Muny is the best outdoor theater with Broadway quality performances. Loved it and have been going for over 30 years.
Connie Jean
Visiting the Muny is a real thrill. The view of the stage is great from almost all seats. And, the performances are wonderful.
You find parking fairly easy. The only problem I encountered was the fact that forest park is like a huge maze. Muny's shows all start at 8:15PM so you'll be leaving after dark
The signs are poorly lit and small. Even with GPS, it was confusing.
Improved signage is very much needed. Otherwise, it was a great experience.
Chris G
The Muny is a St Louis treasure. Summer weather is the only downside.
Elizabeth Hefley
It was a great experience!!! We saw 1776 and found it to be VERY enjoyable as well as moving and fun interjections of comedy throughout the play. I would highly recommend it for everyone. We also had dinner at the pre-show buffet. The food was extremely good with a really nice selection of items that covered everything from a gazpacho soup to 4 selections of meats for the entree and a great creme brulee cheesecake for dessert!
jasmine w
Saw The Wiz and the production was excellent!
Home Ross
The FP Muny is absolutely a fabulous benefit of living in STL!💕 …
Nicki Werner
Good shows but they don't start till dark so my little girl (6) is tired about 3/4 of the way through. Never have seen a whole show. Looking forward to Matilda!
Jeri Teixeira
We love the Muny! If I could change one thing, I would add MORE fans as it can get really uncomfortable when it's hot. You can bring in bottled water and I highly suggest you stay hydrated! The shows are so Great!
Randy Brown
Summer is not summer, until we have been to the muny. Love the outdoors atmosphere. Staff always friendly. Only downside, Monday performance started very late, rain delay. Started, and stopped many times due to rain. Many parents with little ones dressed in Cinderella threads kept filtering out. Half way point, 11:00 pm , 10 min admission and we gave into the rain. Not sure how it ended, I know there's a huge financial loss if cancelled, wish they had issued rain checks and been done with it.
Laura Klaus
We LOVE the muny. Just wish they had more folks scanning the tickets prior to the show.
Elena Williams
What a fabulous night to watch "Chicago" at The Muny! Beautiful September night, friendly staff and crowd, amazing ensemble cast, and "All That Jazz".
Jesse Williamson
A fantastic and underrated gem of St. Louis. The shows are top-notch and it is in a great location. You can see the stage from any of the seats and the ticket prices range from very expensive to free. They have 4 very large fans that will keep the air moving throughout the amphitheater in an effort to beat the brutal St. Louis summer heat. Always a great time.
Dorothy Dean
Saw Singing in the Rain, complete with rain falling on the stage. Dancing and singing numbers were fantastic! The principals were awesome! One of the best shows I've seen at the Muny and I've been a season ticket holder for years! No other place like the Muny! A true gem!
Debbie Roeder
What's not to like about The Muny in Forest Park? The outdoor setting is beautiful. Each show is unique and the performers are always excellent
Micah Usher
Always innovative and creative, the Muny is one of the shining jewels of St. Louis with incredibly well produced plays, they do their jobs with passion. Not sure if you can afford to go? There's free seats at every show - which also makes this place an amazing resource to learn about the humanities .
Nita Love
First visit and my family and I saw my favorite..."Singin' in the Rain"! Fantastic!!!!! The cast was not famous (yet), except for Corbin Bleu, but everyone seemed to give us their best!!!!! The weather was great, the snacks were delicious (but expensive), and even though we sat by a loud family, we were all friendly to each other and had a great time! No atypical visual impairments to speak of for such a large venue. The Muny is a historic place and it was a privilege to experience it! Thank you to all who were involved...ALL!!!!! Blessings!!!!!
Wendy Ferguson
The St Louis Muny! It's a magical place! Proud to have gotten to participate in it's 100th season in 2018. Outdoor theater experience with a variety of shows over the summer weekends only. Some shows are for family, some not as much. Always an excellent production usually with a well know actor in a lead roll. Each performance is of the highest theatrical production. Prices vary from just over a $100 a seat to free seats. That's what makes it a special place, they want everyone to be able to attend, so there's 1500 free seats in the rear. A St Louis original and worth going!
J Lile
The entertainment here is always top quality. There is never any problems with sound or the visual aspect of the show. As with most things in St Louis, the prices can a little higher than most would like. However, you get what you pay for. The Muny always offers a wide array of shows and entertainment for the family and people of all ages. If you want to see a quality show or production, I would definitely recommend checking it out.
Tracy Banks
A wonderful night under the stars! The performers were awesome!
Ada Ezenwa-Autrey
It was very nice. The stage is very grand. The staff is helpful and nice. The first couple of times my husband and I went to see a show they both got rained out. We could not stay and wait any longer so we left. Not sure about their reimbursement policies.
Karen Laws
I saw the Sound of Music tonight. It was amazing! All of the performers were excellent! Staff members were very helpful and knowledgeable. Great experience!
Emily Turner
We saw The Little Mermaid, and the whole experience was amazing. We were able to bring in our own snacks and drinks which is a nice perk. The show was fantastic. We loved the performance and costumes. I highly recommend seeing a show here.
Ann Kelley
The Muny is a beautiful and historic outdoor ampitheather that hosts top notch musicals and other events. It's tough to beat this gorgeous theater with the added ambiance of forest park. There's a variety of ticket price points, and even some free seats on occasion, so it keeps on track with many of the park's affordable attractions for any size family or group.
The park is surrounded by places to grab a bite beforehand, some even within the park so you can then just walk to the Muny and avoid last minute traffic jams.
The only drawback I can think of is that it does get stuffy mid-summer at the peak of hear and humidity...but I think that's largely out of their control.
When I was in high school in the 80's/90's, they had concerts here, like Don Henley, Chicago, etc. That was a blast and should be considered again!
Hez Parker
We always enjoy going to the Muny. The shows are always well done, the staff are great. Probably one of the best open air theaters in the country.
Margo Go
Thank you for another beautiful season, Muny. Just saw West Side Story...outside - how perfect is that? Excellent singers, dancers and musicians. St. Louis summer nights are delightful and this was particularly good. The Muny is a treasure. I can face the dreadful winter now - see you next year!
Susan Taylor
The Muny is a beautiful open air theater! After a rocky start trying to find Will-Call to pick up our tickets, my husband and I settled in to a wonderful evening performance of All Shook Up... the singing, dancing and overall quality of the production was amazing!
James Jones
During the summer of 18, I saw The Wiz 4 times and Annie twice. Both Productions were very well put together and entertaining. The staff here is overly accommodating and the design of the theater is awesome. Show up to the park early so that you can enjoy the other features of the park such as the Museum's or the fountains. There is even a garden with a seating and dining area inside of the Muny. Also there are performances before the Musicals.
Allison Summers
I have been going to the Muny for 24 plus years since I was a kid. It is a St. Louis tradition and an amazing local theatre. Anyone visiting St. Louis in the summer, the Muny is a must see! Go see a show one evening under the stars and there are free seats!
Peter Baum
The Muny is ALWAYS an incredible experience! The Sound of Music gets better every time we see it, a delightful show!
Sharon Knapp
I loved going to the Muny with my grandparents and sitting in the free seated. As an adult I took my sister for her birthday to see meet me in st louis. What a wonderful experience in a paid seat! I came from Louisville to enjoy the Muny! Thanks for wonderful theater experience.
Harvey D. Chamberlain
Great show, beautiful and historic venue!
Melissa Fisher Faler
What a great experience! We were in the "B" section, and the kids were able to see. They did like taking turns looking through the binoculars, but it was more to see details. If we were much further back, we may have had an issue.
The only thing I'd change for the next time is NOT being by a major aisle. I couldn't believe the rudeness of people getting concessions and bathroom breaks during the show! Some even stood DIRECTLY in front of us to catch a bit of a scene - which meant we missed it. What has happened to common courtesy and manners?!?
Rachel Hunn
I have always loved the Muny, but now as a mama who is nursing I love it even more. The pumping/ baby room is great. They have comfy seats, a changing table, AC and even toys for older kids. Thank you Muny for taking care of us moms with young kids!
David Berndt
What a true St Louis gem. A special attraction that puts on great shows. Really enjoyed Gypsy and could not have had better weather. Learned that you can exchange a day early after I realized I bought for the wrong day. Great extra service touch.
Tim Boeddeker
Saw singing in the rain, spectacular show and production as always. If you are coming to St Louis in the summer you should definitely check out The Muny. They even offer free seats.
Kristen Conlin
The nicest staff - hands down. Excellent outdoor venue that makes you feel like a part of STL history. I don't know how those giant fans work but they DO. Always a lovely breeze to keep the bugs and ugly sweats away!
LuAnn Fallahi
Until last night, I had been very happy with the 2019 productions at the Muny, especially Guys and Dolls. But Cinderella was a huge disappointment. Not sure where the script came from, but the themes were all over the place. Obviously, someone thought the production needed to include social issues, but the numerous items completely overwhelm the play and eclipse the original story. Maybe one issue would have worked, but not so many. The computer generated opening reminded me of early computer games and was just cheesy, not the expectation of live theater. Not much choreography. Little to awe and entertain children and nothing for adults. Don’t waste your money on Cinderella.
Annie Beckerle
I have enjoyed the Muny since I was 6. And I'm.....well, not 6 anymore. It's fascinating to see the actors/singers/dancers/musicians/conductor and stage hands share selflessly their wealth of talents with 11,000 of their closest friends on a daily basis. And all so that we may be transported for a few hours into a world we would not otherwise have access to.
Do everything within your power to go see Jerome Robbin's Broadway. It is beyond description.
Gary Hrabovsky
A fabulous place to see a show. It out that has everything it's from the 20th century in the early in the mid 219 50s to the theater that it is today in the 21st century 2019 101 years inspect! A truly authentic Broadway show.
Helen Gross
The Muny is my favorite entertainment. I love the singing and dancing on the outdoor theater stage. My family has always had season tickets and we all go a nimber of times each season. Try it. You will love it.
Monte Marshall
Impressive sound. Outstanding acting. Wonderful atmosphere. The only thing keeping this from five stars is the seating - You will have a hard time seeing over the person on front of you. Loved the overall experience nonetheless!
Erik Bates
Best damn outdoor theater in the country!
Free seats are always a good option, but splurge a little and buy a ticket. They're not too expensive, you get a Playbill, and the satisfaction of knowing you're supporting a great St. Louis institution!
Christopher Herbst
Historic outdoor venue located in Forest Park. Prices are very reasonable, ranging from free seats in the back to $90 for front and center "boxes."
Come early and picnic, there's usually some pre show entertainment around the outside.
Food and drink is more expensive, $8 for a craft beer, but they do allow you to bring in food and non alcoholic beverages. Just no glass or aluminum cans.
The shows I have seen there have all been pretty good - not the big production of a Broadway show, but still very enjoyable.
Parking is kind of a hassle, but not too bad. It's an easy bike ride from any the surrounding neighborhoods.
Dana Garner
Wonderful performance of Sound of Music! Maria and Mother Superior were outstanding! So glad to be back at the Muny!!
Troy Turnipseed
I thought my wife was crazy for buying season tickets. But I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I was able to see productions I would have never gone to see individually. I'm glad we were there for the 101st season.
Valerie Clairday
I love the Muny...mostly. The new upgrades to lighting and stage and the performances are amazing. What I hate is a short list: the seats aren't on a steep enough angle to allow me to see without craning my neck around the person in front of me. Also, my season tickets are for Thursday nights. That means that I have to go to work the next morning. By the time the show ends and I make my way to the car, I'll have to sit in bumper to bumper traffic for up to 30 minutes just to get out of the parking lot. Then it's stop and crawl for another 10-15 minutes to get out of the park. I'M BEGGING YOU, DO SOMETHING ABOUT THE EXIT STRATEGY!!! I want to give the actors the credit they're due, but by the time the show is coming to the end, all I can do is think about how late it's gonna be by the time I get home and try to beat as many people as possible to the parking lot.
Todd F
St. Louis staple for good outdoor theater. Always good shows and musical numbers. Can be hot in the summer. Seats can be tight and some are not staggered correctly, leaving you to lean to see around the 7' giant in front of you. Currently am a season ticket holder(gift). Free seats are great if you show up early enough to get some. Recommend seat cushions and binoculars.
Brooks Barnett
The Muny is a Wonderful Place. I have been going since I was a kid and now, I take my Wife with me and Summers never feel complete without a visit!
Anne Gonzalez
Great shows in a beautiful outdoor setting.
Rachelle Wilson
While some seasons appeal to me differently each year, I always enjoy my visit. Sometimes I will do the free seats when I have time to wait in line or for a show I'm unsure about. Always a good time. There is entertainment before the show starts with activities for kids.
J. Crittenden
Love going here every year. Free seats are awesome! The Muny is something everyone should go see if they get an opportunity to do so. The experience is like none other. Have been going for many years.
john meschede
A St Louis icon home of traditional musical theater. Getting a major update this year. Host to graduations and other events but known nationally for summer evening productions. Parking can be a problem due to cordoned areas for special patrons.Set in Forest park the jewel of St Louis. Nearby is world renowned St Louis Zoo. A memorable place.
Katie Hallock
What a great place for TONS of people to experience theatre together in the open summer air! If you want to park close to the theatre, you want to get there pretty early - I mean more than an hour before the show. In your time before the show eat the picnic that you've packed or the Chipotle you brought along! If you bought tickets, bring a blanket and find a place to sit. If you are in the free seats at the back, you can bring the food to your seats when they let you in at 7p.
My only complaint about this place are the seats - they're like baseball stadium seats. They're extremely uncomfortable!!! I would strongly suggest bring a cushion, towel or blanket to sit on!
Michael Mayer
First time here and had a great time seeing Sweeney Todd.
Seth Waite
Incredible theater experience in a venue unlike any I've ever been too. The quality of the talent was at the highest levels.
alina lenzo
I have been to the Muny several times over years, and it has yet to disappoint me. The shows are spectacular, the sightlines are wonderful, and, of course, the snacks are amazing. I recommend the frozen, chocolate covered New York cheesecake on a stick. It is delicious! Now, a word to the wise, getting back to the hotel can be a challenge. You can take the metro and walk the rest of the way, but I don't recommend it. I have done so several times, but in the dark, around midnight, and across dark roads, the metro and the walk back can be unnerving. I simply recommend walking with the crowd to the nearest parking lot and calling a cab or Uber. Other than the return trip, the Muny is a wonderful experience that I highly recommend!
Denise Bayer
Unique to Saint Louis.... Located in Forest Park, site of the 1904 World's Fair... Beautiful and the best of theatrical shows! Variety of shows each summer season... You won't be disappointed!
Nick Basso
The Muny in Forest Park in St. Louis is an Amazing place to see Broadway sized and skilled plays. They just spent $100,000 on renovations for their 101th year.
A bike ride through Forest Park and a meal nearby before the show helps make it magical.

It was a hot night at the muny, but it was free, and a good performance.
Natasha Riley
I've loved this place since I was a child. To now be able to bring my own children and have the best customer service at the ticket office (where I messed up our order and they fixed it with a smile) and the staff at the venue all evening! We had a great time.
Jeff LaBranche
This the 2nd year we have done season tickets and haven't regretted it! The revitalized stage is amazing! I can't wait for the trees to be replanted for the 2020 season. The staff is friendly and accommodating.
Carole J
I have been a season ticket holder for years. Enjoy the shows, but also enjoy seeing the people who sit around me. I have seen the girl behind me grow up since she was 4. She is now a freshman in college!!!!!
Cindy Middendorf
The Muny is the oldest and largest outdoor theater in the US. It has more than 11,000 seats including 1500 free seats in the back. If you want free seats you need to arrive very early to wait in line. I'd suggest bringing binoculars. From mid June to mid August, the Muny provides locally produced Broadway caliber musicals accompanied by a live symphony. Performances begin at 8:15pm. Concessions are available including foods like popcorn, ice cream, and beverages including alcohol. The best seats in the theater are the box seats down front, of course. Performances include local humor and talent. The Muny is a nonprofit and a cultural icon in St. Louis.
Suzanne Mueller
The Muny is a St Louis institution! My family try to catch as many summer theatre productions as possible each year. The free seats are amazing! Where else can you catch first class theatre productions for cheap or even free!
L G
I love the Muny and have been going since I was a child. However, they need to create more parking on the lower level. And there should be several drop off areas, with benches for the elderly and disabled to sit on, at the lower level.
We had seats in section A. I had to drop my mom off in the disabled area and then find parking in the upper level, then walk down to the lower level to find my mom. This was not convenient at all.
Caleb Baldwin
With the abundance of things to do in St. Louis, one of the summer musts is the world famous Muny theater. One doesn't need to go to New York to see Broadway quality talent as the Muny brings these actors and actresses to St. Louis who, for a week at a time, bring the best musicals of the stage here to the Midwest. Being the oldest and largest outdoor theater, they have elected to carry on the well known generosity of this city by leaving the last nine rows of the theater (1500 seats) free to the public on a first-come-first serve basis. With ample parking, pre-show entertainment, and incredible production values, the only two things that might detract from a near-perfect theater experience is the exposure to the elements during the St. Louis summer and the often problematic sight-lines, especially if finding oneself sitting behind a taller showgoer.
dazspell36
The Muny is a gotta do in St Louis! In Historic Forest Park, see Broadway venues in America's largest outdoor theater. A night you will never forget.
carla burnham
The Muny is a treasure. Performances are always aswesome. Only negative thing I can say is that it's sometimes hard to see. Great entertainment. There are pay seats, but what's really great, is that there's a large section of FREE seats. Everyone can enjoy the experience of the Muny!
David Pease
My wife and I went here to see the play Meet me in St Louis (our niece was playing the part of Tootie) and we loved it. Very clean, nice atmosphere we had a very good time and will be going again in the future.
Keetra Thompson
The Muny is a destination worth the trip. It has 11,000 seats. Not to mention the free seats offered in the back. The Fans keep the atmosphere cool and breezy. Love it!
Jordan Mazuranic
The Muny is so beautiful and unique. The show casts are always amazing and a good time is had by all. A must visit each summer.
Andrew Stewart
The Muny is a massive outdoor theater that's been hosting shows since 1918. The shows are consistently high quality and there's a free standing room balcony at the top of the theater. It fills up early. (A fun fact about Missourians is that we'll do anything for free stuff. Which includes showing up 3 hours early for bad seats. Is that excessive? You're excessive, you filthy out-of-towner, now stay out of our free seats!!)
Chris Lee
What a great great Theatre venue. The level of talent and professionalism at the Muny are simply amazing. if you are going with your family, It is YOUR job to look at Muny's show guide line to see if the show is appropriate for your children. They always have a specific show guide lines on their website to warn you about every single thing that some people may find offensive. Anyway, the shows at the Muny are always great.
Darrell M
I was highly disappointed today when I received my notice to renew our season tickets. The cost has gone up 33 percent year over year. It is very unlikely we will renew our season tickets or go to the St Louis Muny again. It appears the venue is following in the footsteps of the St Louis Cardinals where families are being priced out. We did not receive a 33 percent pay increase for 2020 but apparently Denny Reagen and Mike Isaacson are requesting one from us. Is it possible the Muny fell short of its 100 million dollar capital raise and now the responsibility has fallen upon the season ticket holders? If so, the folks in charge need to be held accountable for over promising and under delivering. Thank you for allowing me this forum to express my opinions and I wish the Stl Muny a great future.
gennrztree
I love attending the Muny, and have for many years, but lately it seems like it's a version of the Kids Bop commercial where the majority of the cast is kids 8 to 18. Saw Mama Mia Saturday night. The actor's mics and musicians instruments were cutting out a lot. It was also 99 degrees out but the fans did provide much needed breeze. Not sure if the heat had anything to do with the audio problems. Saw Hairspary last year and Grease in 2014. Just like Mama Mia, it had a bunch of teenies singing and dancing. If this is the way the Muny is heading I might start going back to the Fox. I expected Mama Mia to be more of a rock concert not a kids concert.
Becky Moe
Get there early to stand in line to go in free! There are two free tickets lines. The one on the right of the theater moves really fast. Getting out of the parking lot is a nightmare though. I'd you can walk well, park near an entrance.
Wonder Williams
Smokey Joe's Cafe had phenomenal singers, music and scenery. Beautiful evening for outdoor theater.
Dwight Watkins
Decent food, but the service is lacking due to the kiosk.
Nancy Hilke
With the reconfiguration of the parking lot there is virtually no disabled parking and no numbers or letters to tell you where you parked ..I may end up not being able to keep coming since the walk is too long. It might look pretty but it's not easy to get around. The shows are fine but it is such a problem to get in there to park. I am a season ticket holder
Lisa Thompson
Beautiful old theater. Great place to see a play.
Elie Regev
Great theater that brings in a lot of talent. Be sure to bring plenty of water, wear light clothing, and bring sunscreen as the seats are completely unshaded. St. Louis summer heat sneaks up on you quickly.
Tyler Wheeler
I always enjoy good St. Louis theater. Weather it's at the Fox, The Rep, or here it's always good. However the Municipal Theater/ The Muny is unique for it's outdoor shows that are always high quality.
Adie Bennett
I love The Muny! It's a Saint Louis staple for a good reason.
The price did rise over the last 2 years :( but they give away free seats at every show. To get the free seats arrive at LEAST an hour early and make sure you are in the line for free seats. Only once have we been turned away (the kids shows are always the most crowded).
They installed fans which help with the oppressive Missouri heat, and allow you to bring in small soft sided coolers with water to keep you hydrated.
The shows are top notch and are just as great as shows I've seen at The Fox for considerably cheaper.
Bring a picnic dinner and sit out on the lawn beforehand for a perfect date!
Joann Thornton
My family visited The Muny on a short family vacation. We attended the night show "Chicago". We were amazed at the acceptance of the innuendos and language that were said. The degrading of family values, morals, and marriage. We would have appreciated the for-warning of the rating of the show. Though we did not care for the production we enjoyed the setting and the friendliness of the hosts. We will probably come back and try another production.
Jo Bax
I loveed the performance of Singin in the Rain. That being said, I was disappointed in my Muny experience. Several people around me had brought in entire meals. Not just snacks, entire MEALS that required a knife and fork to eat. Why didn't they eat before they came? We weren't aware we could bring in water bottles or we would have. We paid $6 for a bottle of water. This was the same brand of water that can be bought at the store for $2.50 a case. I was also disappointed with the"new" cooling system. I realize it was incredibly hot in St. Louis at that time, but I was expecting more than just fans.
This was not the Muny experience I expected.
Lauren Wellman
The Muny is one of the best summer experiences St.Louis has to offer. The shows are diverse and always stretching creative bounds of talent and ingenuity, and the history and culture rooted in the Muny is a rare find, valued by generations. The new fans that were installed this year (or was it 2013?) are great because they're silent enough they no longer have to turn them off during showtime. In fact, there wasn't one night (we're season ticket holders) that was too hot this 2014 season, and once or twice I should've even brought a jacket! The refreshments are also very good and not anymore overpriced than you would expect. The strawberry daquiri drinks or cookies and cream ice cream cups are the best way to cool off, or else enjoy a wide variety of other snacks and beverages including local beers and wine.
I can't recommend the experience enough!
John Adams
Saw Annie. Great show. Set in $30 seats. View was good but not excellent. Sound was plenty loud especially during singing. Food and drinks are overpriced as expected.
Ashlie Jermaine
Great shows!!!!! We go almost every year and are rarely disappointed. And we always sit in the free seats!! You have to get there kinda early to be able to get a good spot in line for the free seats but... Worth it!!!!
Beckie Simora
What a way to end the 100th season at the Muny. Meet Me in St. Louis was amazing! I sat in the free seats. I saw everything clearly, and enjoyed everything about the Muny.
My Husband and I will be getting season tickets next season.
Teresa Lynn Stauffer-Gasperson-Presser
The kids and I saw wizard of Oz at the muny and it was fantastic, than when we came out to the car we found a flat tire but the staff and security stayed with us till 2 in the morning for help to arrive and made my family feel completely safe and secure. Their show was great but the treatment from the security guard that night made it incredible and reassuring that out of towners can still feel safe in forest Park at night
K D
The Muny stl is a great outdoor theater for plays. The acoustics are good. Now with the fans (not too loud) it's cooler to view a play in the hot humid stl weather. I go to the Muny every year.
Logan Shaw
One if the jewels in St. Louis's crown the Muny hosts world class Broadway productions throughout the summer. If you do t want to pay show up early for the free seats in the back section.
Todd Johnson
Love this outdoor theatre! I would recommend reserving dinner at the culver pavilion before the show. The intermission ale by 4hands brewery is great also.
Taggie G
One of the most outstsnding musical experiences in the United States. Find a show you like and give it a try. You will not be sorry. Usually a different show each week during the summer season. The 2019 season is about to start. Single tickects on sale now. I have had season tickets for years and would would not miss a show except in the worst conflicts.
Karen Zelle
Show was amazing (Get on Your Feet)! Easy parking, very organized entry. Pleasant experience.
Sherry Low
"The show must go on..." St. Louis' excess heat wave didn't stop a packed audience or superb actor performance from Singing in the Rain!. Wonderful outdoor theatre.
Paula Staten O'Connell
The Muny is the best value for top-notch musical theater in the US...maybe even the world!
A L
Excellent staff/service employees. Beautiful establishment. 4 silent large overhead fans keep the audience comfortable in 90° weather. Wonderful ambiance. Always a splendid time, no matter where you sit.
Joe Kampelman
Beautiful area. I hate that it took me 40 years to figure that out.
marie chance
To Samantha L ....you showed very poor judgement in trying to bring a 3 month old to the Muny. Glad you left, saved the rest of the patrons from the disturbance. As for the Muny Productions... first rate, even if the particular show isn't a favorite. Singer and dancer chorus talent is usually local, what a wonderful opportunity for young performers to work. Imported stars are uaually good too. Have been a fan for 50 years.
Tori Nichole
the municipal theatre association is always the best time!! my best summer memories are made there, and I look forward to passing the tradition down to my children in the years to come. meet me at the muny, the muny in forest park.
Daniel Reynolds
The Muny is one of the great institutions of St. Louis. If you haven't been it's a must do for a resident or someone visiting STL in the summer. Check out their shows that rotate through the summer.
Scott Perdue
A St. Louis gem!
Jacob Shackelford
As The Muny approaches 100 years of spreading Muny Magic, it only gets better year after year. If you haven't been in recent years, there's now a screen on the backdrop of the stage that they use to help create amazing sets, a large portion of the center of the stage that rotates for changing scenes, and the old, loud fans in the crowd were replaced with much quieter ones that can run throughout the entire show to keep the audience cool. As always, there are free seats at the upper lot, which are first come, first serve.
When you find a show you might like, do yourself a some good and go to the Muny!
Kevin J. Black
The Wiz--not the Muny's best show, but of course still very well done. Amazingly energetic choreography. Nice to see a more diverse audience tonight.
dylans games simon
Great service and great staff. Amazing show and cast
Michelle Jones
This year I saw 42nd Street and Fiddler on the Roof, which i really enjoyed. The acting, singing and dancing talent ate first rate, and comparable to just-off Broadway performances I've seen in NYC when I lived there. The Muny is a St. Louis treasure, a true landmark in Forest Park, already known for its renovated golf course, world-class zoo, etc.
Justin Ströhm
The MUNY doesn't get enough respect. It's treated like a nice outing for a family (which it is) but the basic assumption is that the performances are going to be somewhat lacking because it's a nonprofit production in St. Louis. True, the 11,000+ seat outdoor theater is a rare bird to begin with, but the quality of the productions is spectacular. For frame of reference: the touring companies of Broadway shows are usually below MUNY standards. If you're looking for something to do on a summer evening, you could hardly do better than a show at the MUNY.
Susan Constantin
The Muny is a St. Louis treasure! Jerome Robbins Broadway was WONDERFUL as expected! The Muny never disappoints so if you haven't been to a show, do yourself a favor and buy tickets now!
Thomas Shaw
Great show! Have not been to the Muny in 20 years and this was the perfect show to welcome me back. Mark Ballas was fantastic as was the entire cast and orchestra!
Trish Luckett
The Muny is such a special place. My daughter and I have had season tickets for 13 years. If you have never seen a show at the Muny, do yourself a favor and go!!!
Phoebe Ochei
Beautiful flowers very romantic and majestic
Terrence Sennie
Always been a fun and exciting place to visit, especially being a part of Forest Park
Dorothy Roth
"On Your Feet" the Gloria Estafan story was awesome! It was a brutally hot eve, but the fans provided moving air.
Patricia Pedigo-Smith
My three-year-old granddaughter loved "Annie" so much she yelled, "Do it again!" and then started crying when she found out the show was over. We assured her that she could come back to the Muny again in the future, and that calmed her down. She left the Muny singing the score!
Congratulations on one hundred years, Muny officers, staff, and casts. We were glad it wasn't always "tomorrow" - that we got to see "Annie" today. Please realize you have. earned much admiration nation-wide. We wish for your success in this and coming years.
Sincerely,
Patricia A. Pedigo-Smith (formerly Ziercher)
Jan Laskowski
I love the Muny-been going for years. Saw Cinderella last night and was so disappointed. Some things shouldn’t change but apparently all the costumes and some of the storylines changed. Sad ...
Nicole Welsh
They need a concession stand near the other picnic areas so you don’t have to go through security 6 times holding a ton of food. It really puts a damper on your experience having to go through he scanner line 6 times being scanned by the same rude people who scanned you five minutes prior when you had to exit, while you are carrying a bunch of food.
Amanda Schuermann
Offers great theatre at a wide range of prices. The atmosphere is intoxicatingly exciting and the productions are always high quality and beautiful. All around, it's an amazing place to be.
Jamie Kosh
I love the shows. I take my kids... they always fall asleep but I love that Muny will be a part of their childhood stories. It's a beautiful theatre.
Andrew York
The Muny is a great place to go enjoy a theatrical play. I highly recommend it. If the price for admission is to much for you they do offer free seating.
Milton Kendrick III
Enjoying "On Your Feet!" Beautiful venue, nice night, just wish the audio for Emilio and overall was a tad louder.
helen tiller
The Muny is celebrating its 101st season! The website claims to be the oldest and largest of any outdoor ampitheater. A wonderful place to enjoy a show on a summer evening.
MSAK
Loved it...easy to get to, beautiful grounds. What a gem of a place!
Diana O
All white crowd. Gypsy would be better on a small stage long scenes with only one or two people on huge outdoor stage. Didn't see any effort to be racially inclusive reflective of the city.
Nick Merz
Saw Footloose here and it was incredible! The fans helped us stay very cool and the audio was clear even back in C stand.
Jackie Clark
The musical Footloose was great. The only problem I see you can't see over the people's heads in front of you I think the seating should have been raised each row raised higher
Maggie Fenimore
The Muny is fantastic! Easy parking. Great shows. So glad it's opened back up
Emily German

ronald johnson
My wife and I love live Theater so we have gone to the Muny three times this season and I've always thoroughly enjoyed the shows the atmosphere the people and being outdoors even though we were caught by rain Saturday that's part of being outdoors and being a part of a live theater it's a quite a unique experience and it's one of the best aspects of being here in St Louis that we have opportunity to have some of the best theater groups in the country and best places and then use for them
Mark Miller

I've been going here for 25+ years. Some shows are better than others, so my general recommendation is go to the big name shows since the cast seems to be higher quality.
Shari Schlosser
A wonderful venue. 103rd season and the oldest theater of its kind in the United States.

Great place to visit and enjoy a show.

Surprising stage effects, good sound, good seating. Free ice water and fans when it's hot outside. Amazing actors/actresses. Overall a good experience.
