Reviews of Herberger Theater Center
It's a pretty theater with a good size stage and comfy seats. Only complaint is that there isn't much space between rows... pretty tight.. there's no walking past anyone in the row. We saw High school musical by valleyy youth theater and had a fun time
Great performance! Very cute show! It was my first time coming to this venue! Very enjoyable! The main reason I’m giving this a three star rating because I had some staff members come and wave their finger at me and other members make some rather rude and unnecessary comments. And, I had no idea why. Several people around me were also confused as to why I got reprimanded.. no one had their phone out. No one was taking pictures. We were enjoying the show. I decided to ask at the end and one staff member apologized since she realized she was in the wrong. Which I appreciated. However, another staff member came up to me and said she was sure she saw something. But then, apologized…however it didn’t seem genuine.. I also had a few other staff members say some rather rude things to me..which I was not expecting.. I would rate this theater higher if I had not had such a weird experience. I did really enjoy the show but felt attacked for no reason.
Amazing staff, organized, perfectly sized, great venue, chase garage is closest but they don't validate there only the arizona center
For a big city, was a fairly small arts festival, mostly craft artists selling wares. Music wasn't to bad, singing and a brass band preforming jazz.... hmm wasn't worth the trip.
This theater is a phoenix classic and for good reason. It is right in the heart of downtown, they have a ton of great events, and the theater itself is beautiful. There's not a bad seat in the house. There is orchestra seating, some box seating and some balcony seating. Always look forward to coming here. There's also a nice side yard where they hold outdoor events
Watched Rudolph with my 7yr old granddaughter and her Grandma, we had a lovely time! The production was fabulous! They also had to sub in 2 actors, and they did a seamless performance!!!
Beautiful, smaller theater with old world charm. We have season tickets to the plays which are done very tastefully and artfully. Most recent show was 'The Lion' which was wonderful and very typical of the class and art of the shows presented. Definitely recommend a visit or better yet a season ticket pass.
Was reserved about going to downtown Pheonix with traffic but was not a problem even though it was a matinee that got out at 4:30 in the afternoon and could have been messy with rush hour. Big parking ramps nearby had lots of room and price was reasonable.
Great theater experience. Easy to get to and parking garage across street. Lots of restaurants within walking distance.
Fun times. We love the theater. It is beautiful and the actors are unbelievable!!
Lovely place, enjoyed the show but it could use a face-lift refresh. Carpeting is old and stained, same for the seating.
Nice midsize theater with comfortable seating and a nice staff.
Theater West, no validation for paid parking, go see Secret Comedy of Women for a GF night, soooo funny, great seats 2 nd row
Intimate feeling for a house tbis size. Ample leg room for those of us with knee issues.
Beautiful place to perform in Phoenix. Fantastic facilities, and great security for the performers. Parking can be a bit of an issue if there are a few events/concerts going on downtown. Professional theater house in every way.
We loved the Herberger theater! I loved the red seats and the room. We had a great seat and the way the room is arranged and size most seats would provide a great view. The play was wonderful. The set, music, and acting were well done! It was a really fun date night! Can't wait for the next play.
Went on a field trip. It was organized and clean. The only thing I wished for is that they served snacks for drinks for sale. I get it though, it could get messy.
I’ve seen a fair amount of shows produced by a few different theatre companies at the Herberger Theater Center and have enjoyed myself at each one. The chairs are comfortable, there’s really not a bad seat in the house, and it’s a beautiful venue. My only complaint is that the sound quality is not always up to par. There are moments when it’s difficult to understand the actors.
Very nice place to see didn’t get a chance to see the inside will return to see soon
The only downside is the inadequate number of women's restrooms. No woman wants to spend the entire intermission standing in line for a toilet! Be prepared.
The Addams Family comedy musical is wonderful the Herberger is a intimate venue downtown Phoenix gem.
Wonderful little playhouse. The kids enjoyed watching Rudolph the rednosed reindeer
So much fun to see Schoolhouse Rock Live. The actors were wonderful!! They did a fantastic job and included the audience as well. Extremely well done!
The auditorium was beautiful!
Went with my clients from a group home I work for and we seen the live play School House Rock. It was a good show. If you want your parking ticket validated then don't park across the street from the theater
Park on 5th and Fillmore
This is a very quaint and intimate theatre which features comfortable seating with ample leg room. There is a balcony and opera-like seating on each side of the theater. The only thing missing is a railing to guide you as you step down for the orchestra seating. The audio and lighting were very adequate. The play itself was superb. The lone actor was phenomenal, especially since she players numerous characters. I left the theatre feeling very satisfied and entertained.
The show I watched was Amazing. The theater however really needs to rethink the art work outfront when inviting children that are very young and immature. The only thing I heard out of almost every 6 year old was I see privates , pointing at the art asking why are they naked. I know the city at this point can afford some new art. The figures are not even in creative poses.
Nice venue to watch plays. Centrally located in downtown Phoenix. Plenty of parking around.
Jan 2017 "Cooking With The Calamari Sisters" is an entertaining comedy for both men and women. I went with a group of 25 lady friends. Our friend "volunteered" to participate on stage and we were rewarded with antipasto : artichokes, mozerella, pepperoni, and baguette!
The bar in the waiting area offered delicious reasonably priced refreshments (eg. $2 coffee) and snacks (eg home made brownies and cookies @ $2 each).
The ushers were patient, curtious, and helpful.
We're still all giggles about the jokes they cracked.
Beautiful theater and very interesting programming. If you like Opera and you live in Phoenix, you must check it out. If you don't like opera, definitely check it out, you will be surprised about finding programs that appeal to you.
I absolutely love attending shows at this venue. It is beautifully designed and the seating is set up so no matter wear you sit you will have a good view of the stage.
Great venue but parking lot across the street filthy and takes a long time to get out
Absolutely amazing time! Went with my daughter second grade class to see the miraculous journey of Edward Tulane....they were able to give that bunny prop soo much life that you truly felt as if he was really alive. The performers have such incredible imaginations, its highly addictive. Thank you all for a wonderful experience.
Fantastic theater - saw the last Snow Queen and the theater was full of joy and happiness at seeing this last show. We had front row seats and it was amazing. Highly recommend.
My daughter and I decided to check out the play, Nina Simone #fourwomen and it was an awesome show, performance and message. Herberger Theater is a jewel in downtown Phoenix. If you get the chance, definitely come see a show... and bring the family for great time and experience.
Every show I've seen at the Herberger is top notch! This production was fabulous and seemed to come to life on stage. We were in the balcony, but even from there, the view of the stage was more than adequate.
Great theater with fabulous sound and absolutely fantastic caring and welcoming staff.
I was having trouble getting down the stairs and a lovely employee came up to me and offered her arm to help me. Now that's what I call incredible customer service.
We plan to buy a package to go to the rest of the plays.
Very clean, face masks were voluntary, staff all wore face coverings and super courteous. Audience were courteous and most wore face covering. Great atmosphere and a lot of fun! Love going here!!!
So Professional!!! Made me feel safe and secure amid trying times. The Actors were Amazing! They were so full of emotion. I will be returning!
Went here on a field trip with my son to see suessical, it was fun. Well worth watching.
A wonderful theater and Arts Center located in downtown Phoenix a very beautiful facility
Local theatre at its best. Great seats for an affordable price. Casual to semi-final. Great view no matter where you sit. A must attend locale for someone who wants to experience the arts.
We had a great time attending a production of "My Father's Italian, My Mother's Jewish, amd Therapy Continues" tonight for our Wedding Anniversary. We purchased the tickets on line and received them electronically. The theatre is very nice with great helpful staff. NOTE: You HAVE to produce a Covid Vaccine in order to get in. There is a Security Guard at the door checking all Covid Vaccine requirements carefully. The theatre is very nice and seats are comfortable. This particular show only has one performer, and I don't know how he memorizes all of his lines for a 2 hour show. The show was very entertaining and we were happy we went. We would love to see another production at this venue in the future. Thank you for a wonderful evening 😊
Performed at their Festival for the Arts and the facility and grounds are amazing.
Show was great. Too much going on in downtown to get close parking though. Theatre should make patrons aware. We had people who were handicapped.
Lovely theater. Not a bad seat in the house. Friendly, organized staff. Festive. The lobby Christmas tree was beautiful. The show Miss Bennett: Christmas at Pemberly was exceptional! Funny, intelligent entertainment.
The theatre is surprisingly intimate, and I'm pretty sure there's bit a bad seat in the house. Comfortable theatre experience, and a beautiful art gallery upstairs.
Thank you for having the courage to show "The Royale". A show that most city's in the US will not touch. This is a show that all of us should see. If you support change in the US, if you support the fact that ALL lives mater, then this is a show for you to see. We are a nation built on the backs of many Nationalities, blood, sweat, and tears. We should not be stuck in a phase of ignorance, we should be the Nation that all look up to. A nation of true freedom, prosperity, and free of prejudice. A Nation that ALL are safe, and that we should not be living in fear of being pulled over by cops. We cannot and nor shall we ever allow this Nation to be a police state, or a nation of hate. Thank you for allowing DR. M Sandoval of Barrett Honors College of Arizona State University to hold a Q and A after the showing to discuss what the meaning behind "The Royale" was, and leading an open discussion/dialogue; so that we as a society can really think about what we are doing and allowing to happen. Again thank you.
Great songs and great atmosphere! I appreciated the variety of songs they played going through the different decades and thought the performers did a great job with memorizing the choreography along with the songs. Really good!
Really enjoyed Herberger annual arts and crafts festival!
I was there for a festival yesterday. Had a wonderful time.
I love this place it was great everyone was so helpful and friendly I will definitely be returning in the future
Thoroughly enjoyed the concert by the North Valley Chorale. Exceptionally good group. The Herberger Theater center stage auditorium is spacious and seats are comfortable. Masks were required for audience. Parking at the Arizona Center was convenient.
It's where the audience can meet the arts. Professional Theater performances, fun festivals, fundraisers, First Fridays during cooler weather. The art gallery on premises and the auxiliary gallery across the street showcase talented artists works.
Wonderful shows in a nice venue.
Wonderful show! Laura Durant was fantastic in I'll Eat You Last, the one woman show on the small stage. Lighting, set and props were spot on.
Pass Over was an amazing challenging, well acted and produced play. Go see it but make sure you have time to talk about it afterward. It was great!
The surrounding of this hall is a museum of these iron statues that seems a moment away from being alive. I visited Phoenix as a tourist and did not attend shows. But these figures will stay in my mind forever.
We went to see the Addams family awesome seats, high quality crew, and after the play we got to meet the actors it was incredible!
Excellent performance of The Music Man by the Arizona theatre company!
Wonderful show (Lunchtime Theater: Back in Business). The lunch was tasty and a good value. Everyone should go!
The show was fantastic. The theater is beautiful and all employees were so gracious and helpful.
Great place, wonderful play "Ella The Enchanted"
I love this place! I have watched it grow since I was a kid. Lots more going on, many updated spots to check out. Plenty of places to eat and AMC movie theater is not far!. Worth a look.
Experience at herberger theater to see Rudolf the red nose reindeer was awesome. We sat in 2nd row of balcony and could see everything. 2 grandsons loved the experience and all ushers were most helpful. Have seen numerous plays at herberger. Would highly recommend this play to everyone
Great little theatre. Just left Addams Family and it was so much fun. We had a great time.
There is plenty of street parking around the theatre but with 2 he limits.
They are very reasonable and have a small bar that offers deserts and even flat bread and grilled cheese.
Will definitely return and recommend.
I love this theater. My sister and I really enjoyed our show. The sets were incredible. The play was fantastic. I like the lack of the curtain. It allows you to absorb the set and get into the play before it stays. The staff members are polite and knowledgeable. You can tell they all have a passion for the arts.
I've watched about 6 shows there this season. I love this place. The lobby is cozy and the stages are amazing. I saw Chatos kitchen, and the Snow Queen, and Edward Tulane and Ella Enchanted among others. I have kids so I took them. The back stage crew is fantastic, they did a tour and we got to see the wardrobe area and how they do all the costume scene changes. Talented people!!! My daughter said she wanted to be a costume designer for theater.
Went on a field trip with the 2 fourth grade classes I work with to watch " School House Rock Live". It was a great show!
Great experience for a city theater. Good layout in the lobby; the guests don't feel crammed into a small space. Theater itself is a great layout.
1 star off as I've seen a couple shows there now and with the greatest encouragement, I'd like to see them spend a bit more time on the size of the company (supporting cast) and the attention to detail on the sets. Both tend to be incredibly sparse - and I know both cost money to bring to life (but I've seen high school productions with grander sets).
Truly, 4 stars, I don't want to detract from the great experiences we've had. This is just a decent way / place to convey some feedback so, there you go.
We saw The River Bride and the show was Great! The seats were comfortable. The bathrooms were clean. The staff was so helpful and nice. I love that they have a bar in the lobby so you can have a drink while you wait for the show to start. I would definitely come back and recommend to anyone!
The Herberger is a great venue to experience a show. All the staff are extremely friendly and helpful, along with comfortable seating.
Not really a big auditorium so you could easily hear and see the actors from your seats even at the way back.
Saw the play, Low Down Dirty Blues. Apparently the Herberger has different theatres throughout of varying sizes. This particular room was fantastic... quaint, personable, and great views. The show was superb! I wish there was an AZ club that played the type of music being played... the vocals were great but the music was dirty... absolutely loved it!! I highly recommend this play. We fed the parking meters that jiped of of 30 minutes. We also discovered some meters were up to 2 hrs and some up to 4 hrs., right next to each other ($1.50/hr.) Meter pay ends at 10p. Downtown Phoenix is beautiful. Oh, a plus, we were able to take our drinks into the theatre... Nice!!
Nice theater facility. I have seen a theater performance in each venue and they both had great sound and were well-maintained. Comfortable seats, helpful ushers, and a snack & drink bar. The restrooms are too small, I think; the line for the ladies rooms is very long. (Also, more ventilation would really help the restroom environment.) Parking garages are nearby.
Love this theater. There are three different small venues here so each seat is very good. The staff are always friendly. There's a small bar and snack area. They also offer matinee shows. Always something good to see and do at this venue.
Went to see Ella Enchanted musical play. Had a fun time with my daughter
Went to see The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane and my daughter and I had a great time!! The actors are great and tell the story so well. I will admit I cried a few times, and so did one actress. I left with an experience I will remember forever and hope to be back for more. Great place, clean bathrooms. We also got a free book along with the show. Fun experience!
I had such an enjoyable time at this show. The Adams family was a live performance, with great stage props, costumes, and acting. I am so happy to had the opportunity to attend. The Herberger venue was clean, comfortable, and very inviting. If they host any plays in the future that captures my interest, I will certainly attend.
Wonderful experience with live audience. Top actors, very good seats, and clean.
Nice live theater experience. We saw Ella Enchanted:The Musical. The seating was comfortable. The lights, set and props produced believable transformations. The theater was quiet and of the correct temperature. Overall, it's a great theater.
Awesome place. Lunchtime Theater is so fun. Watching people who have put together hour long productions that they have written is amazing. Shows don't disappoint and the restaurant they order lunch from has delicious food. $7.00 for ticket only. $8.00 for lunch for a total of $15.00. Can't be at that price. Try it some time.
Great venue. Great show!
Went here for my son's 1st grade field trip today. The staff was amazing dealing with over 100 6 and 7 year olds. The play was great and very funny. Was very happy with how things were run and handled. Great job!
Nice venue to see a Broadway style show. Cozy yet not crowded. I have also seen an opera here and the acoustics are pretty good. Even when using PA sound, the audio didn't just get blasted to the people on the sides. Recommended.
I went to see "The Newsies" play and I loved it ! The restrooms are clean and very big as well ! They have a snack bar with a beverage selection. The seating is very comfortable — like all theaters should be. Definitely a family-friendly environment! Would definitely return to attend another play again !
The secret comedy of woman was awesome 👌 …
Saw a new musical Women of a Certain Age, super funny, voices were amazing. Worth every penny.
Looking for something fun to do during week? Well, Lunchtime Theater at the Herberger is AMAZING! It's inexpensive and you get to see a quality live performance during your lunch hour. Order your tickets online and you can order lunch at the same time. Lunch and a play...what's not to love?!? Tell Judy I sent you!
Always a great place to watch children's theater and other plays. Sound is fantastic.
What a great night with a friend enjoying a great show.
Beautiful venue! Great sound and lighting. Seen a couple Broadway shows here and both were very well done.
I would recommend sitting towards the middle rows h-n seem to be the best. Great acoustics and overall love this venue!
Herberger Theater seems a little dated, though it was adequate for a Calamari Sisters performance. I do appreciate that their refreshments bar was open to the interior, as well as the exterior; patrons could access its offerings whether they were waiting inside the Theater or milling about outside. I was disappointed with my choice of performances, though. I think the Theater should have given a more descriptive summary of what a patron should expect of such a saucy, perhaps raunchy show.
We came with a group of kids & a ton of other schools were there so you could tell the employees were stressed but the show was amazing! I just wish we weren't so rushed since we ended up having to figure out where a kid was in a seating arrangement since they seat you themselves. It caused a panic being rushed.
Took my grandchild to see the musical Annie this summer and we loved it! We got to meet members of the orchestra in the pit. She got to take pictures with the cast when they came out to the lobby after the performance. Had great seats. A memory to treasure.
Don't miss seeing "The Lion"! So good!
We had a very enjoyable night at the Herberger Theater. They got us right in to our seats with the really good Usher system. The concession stand at everything you would want from snacks and adult beverages. The Acoustics were very good. I would highly recommend this theater to anybody
Lovely theater but tight leg room. Loved the play, The Secret comedy of women. Would absolutely make the trip on light rail again to see another play. A great outing for 11 senior women!
This is THE place to see a play. I just absolutely love this venue. I watch the calendar to find events I am interested in, or in taking my grandchildren, because this place just does it for me. The special events are so enjoyable. The children's events and plays are really a treat for all, and a memory maker. Christmas events at the Herberger make Christmas for me.
What's with those small uncomfortable chairs that are packed in like sardines? No elbow room. Uncomfortable. Other than that, a good venue.
Cute theater. Parking is only an hour during the week so u have to keep feeding the meter. But easy to get to. Next time i think ill park elswhere and catch the light rail. The theater itself was very comfortable and super clean. Very friendly staff too. Great girls day out. 👍 …
A great little theater squarely downtown. The opera's Red Series performances were put on here in the 2018-19 season, and might be again in future. There's a nice collection of art upstairs. When there's a performance, you can also enjoy both indoor and comfortable outdoor seating at the bar. Plenty of parking garages nearby - do expect to have to pay for parking and don't expect to be able to luck into one of the metered street-side spots directly next to the theater on the night of a performance.
It's with stopping by for a look at the statuary around it, if you're in the area.
Do be advised: this is an older theater, and the seats are a bit narrow and not the most comfortable. They can accommodate wheelchairs, however, and even the far back balcony seats give a good view of the stage.
The Herberger Theatre is a beautiful venue! It's an iconic part of the theatre scene in Phoenix and well worth a visit! We saw a Valley Youth Theatre production here and there are other theatre companies that share the stage here as well. The seats are comfortable, the staff is friendly and there's a large parking structure just across the street. If you have the opportunity to see a show here, I recommend it!
Not a bad seat in the house. Great show for the price
Saw my grandfather's favorite play there with him just weeks before he passed. Perhaps that's an unfair reason to give it 5 stars, but that night was so special and wonderful. The theatre was accommodating to his frailty and poor health and the seats were provided a great view of the stage. Such a poignant moment in my life makes this place forever special to me.
I have to say, on a whim, I brought my wife to see La Cage aux folles... This was our first time at Herberger Theater, well at any Broadway style theater. Wonderful venue, comfortable seating with great views from all over. And an amazing production! We will definitely return for another show.
OMG 😲where has this 😳place been all my life really the entertainment and theater 🎥poforment was spectacular I was moved last night 🌙this is a must see too belive so injoy the best in Phoenix AZ theater …
Wonderful theaters. Childsplay is always excellent! Box office is friendly and efficient - even sent a phone message reminder about the show. Lobby is clean and welcoming. Lots of entrances. Ushers know their jobs. They sell discounted parking passes for the AZ Center garage which is a walk, but a pleasant one. Only complaint is that in Stage West the rows on the floor only step up every second row so there can be sight issues.
Herberger is a great venue. There really aren't any bad seats. It's managed well; you won't be disturbed by patrons coming in late during the show. At least that's been my experience with Arizona Theater Company shows. It's very clean and you can see art on display in the lobby upstairs if you get there early for your show.
Great shows. A lot of 😊 …
This was so very well done. We were here for the Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. 5 very talented people perform this play based on a story by Kate DiCamillo. The play stuck true to the story. We were able to meet the playwright on our day there. Well well done!
I went with a large group of peers.. We watched a Halloween inspired dance recital.. I was surprised at how much fun I had.. Most of us sat in the middle at the very top. The couple people that sat on the bottom floor complained that they could see all of the mistakes that were being made. At the very top where I was, it looked perfect in my opinion.. I definitely would love to go again.
Went to see an opera there and it was wonderful
The theater is wonderful. The show was fantastic. But...i purchased a parking pass and it wouldnt work in the machine so i had to pay $ 16 to get out of the garage. The date on the parking pass was dated 2/4/19 for a 4/6/19 show. Hence parking was $22. Not happy!
I love the size of the Herberger, most all seats allow good views. We just saw La Cage there, great singers and performances. Whoever was running sound board that night could pay a bit more attention to cues and balance of singers in groups.
The theater was very nice. Staff and the ushers were very friendly and helpful. We were there for a matinee featuring the great Brad Zinn who did a fantastic job impersonating Old Time comics.
We took our daughters, ages 8 and 3, to see Charles Dickens A Christmas Carol and we all loved it. The theater itself is small but cozy and I did notice they offered hearing aids.
I work at the theater and was ushering the "West Side Story." I have seen that show many times in various cities and must say this is maybe the best and most moving production I have seen of it.
The show received a standing ovation from a not terribly crowded theater. If you have seen it before,
never seen it, or wish to see it again, by all MEANS GO. YOU will not be disappointed.
My girlfriend and I have been to numerous shows here on numerous stages, and it's just a great theater. They have incredible variety in what they play, from small stage intimate affairs to large, transforming set plays, and we haven't had a bad show yet. An integral part of Downtown Phoenix.
This is such a cool and historic theater to watch a play or ballet. They have a full bar and snack food. Very comfortable seats with leg room for a 6ft. tall person.
Went for Charlotte's Web. A family performance. It was wonderful! The theater staff was awesome and the facility was great. No bad seats and very clean. Good snack bar with alcohol. Would definitely go again.
This place is really best and something you should definitely have your kids experience once in there life time. You have the true feel of the way things used to be and seeing it live is unforgettable. We saw The girl who swallowed a cactus. Very kul.
I really liked the intimate seating of the theater. The play we saw was good and the staff were all friendly and helpful. They have some sort of parking deal that we only saw once inside, so maybe look for that on their website. Otherwise parking will probably cost you $12. All of the street parking I found was only for 2 hours so probably don't park there.
First off let me start by saying that every show we've seen here is great! My three stars stems from the fact that parking can be an issue, and/or far away, the staff isn't the most friendly and there are several, anatomically correct, nude statues out front. Be ready to have that conversation if you decide to take kids. Completely unnecessary to have those out front, art or not.
Love visiting here! Staff is usually spot on with being helpful and informative without being pushy or stuck up. Facility is beautiful and well maintained. Only downfall is parking but that's to be expected downtown. Support live theater arts!
Love the location, purchased tickets at box office on a Sunday, 😮 wonderful. Experience ❤ the gentleman showed me the seating chart... He help with a few other problems, he had solution.. Good old Fashion Customer Service.... Now let's hope the overall experience will be added great as ticket convenience. ❤🙏 …
Went here for Snow Queen with our kindergarten class and had a great time and beautiful performance. Loved how the performers sat down and talked with the kids and answered their questions afterwards. Highly recommend!
Great seating and wonderful location make this a hot item on the downtown list of things to do. I like going here for the variety of shows and the fact that we can go out for a nice meal before the show and there are so many choices. Phoenix has a wonderful gem here.
I was there on a field trip with my daughter. It was smaller than I expected. I was very disappointed they started the show before everyone was inside and seated so we missed the first 10 minutes of the play. This was after they had us sitting in the buses waiting for 15 minutes watching them run around trying to figure things out.
This review, not so much for the theater itself which is nice, intimate without being too cozy, boasts a very helpful and kind staff, oh and very tasty chocolate chip cookies. My last visit, to see "Man of LaMancha" was simply amazing. If you haven't seen this version, set in Franco's Spain, do yourself the best favor ever, and GO, preferably with someone you care about, you'll share a theatre experience together you'll be talking about for years to come. It's that good.
I saw Man of la Mancha to satisfy some of the females in my household. I don't even like theatre much, and musicals are even lower on list. To my surprise the show was fantastic! So were the seats. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house. The production quality and the theater experience were all wonderful. It made a believer out of me. This is a much better experience than Gammage.
Highly recommend.
Seusical was delightfuuly entertaining, capturing the attention of the young grandchildren!!
Except for the tickets being a tad expensive for single one-income people (although everything of cultural quality seems to be the same) the seating is amazing. Not a bad or uncomfortable seat in the house. I was afraid it was going to be like the Hale theater in Utah where they tried to use the "airline mentality"...make the seats 3 inches narrower to add $100 of profit!!! So glad they didnt do that.
If you are trying to go to a very nice show I would check out the Herberger Theater Center. This is the place that has the statures out front that are dancing around. It is a very cool place and you can see some wonderful shows and acts here. Put this place on the bucket list now!
We saw Sweeney Todd. Beautiful theater and eventful production. Large, comfortable seating with excellent sight lines and acoustics. There are bathrooms on the second floor. The ushers were very courteous and helpful.
Herberger is a great place to see a show. There is no such thing as a bad seat in the house. There are several theater companies that perform there and you are bound to find a show that's for you. The staff, ushers and house mangers are friendly and knowledgeable and really go out of there way to make you comfortable.
The play was amazing! I loved to see kids perform.. they did awsome on Annie.. Took my schoolage students on a field trip and they loved it. Only thing that was hectic was parking. They gave us a parking voucher, but it still was hectic.
Enjoyed production of Freaky Friday (except for overpowering orchestra, soloists singing as loud as they could which created sound distortion & made understanding lyrics difficult). Wonderful sets, choreography, so impressed by girl singing Ellie/mom, kid's enthusiasm a joy to watch. Bravo!
Friendly staff and a beautiful theater with comfortable seats and sound is good. They offer devices for the hearing impaired and if you are blind ask what shows offer the device to help give commentary.
A beautiful Theatre in downtown Phoenix. There isn't a bad seat in the house, but if you can, treat yourself to the top price seats 8-10 rows from the front. It's a venue that would rival any of the best on Broadway.
The shows I've seen here are asking. Aside from that, it's very well organized. I've never had a problem being over crowded when there is more than one show playing. Getting my tickets from will call was not an issue. Finding my seat was very easy.
Wonderful performance venue with multi-level seating, an outdoor balcony, an upstairs art gallery, and a gorgeous lobby area with outdoor seating available.
It is always a pleasure to go to the Herberger. Seats are comfortable, acoustics are excellent, staff is helpful and smiley. Saw Waist Watchers. The play is one 90 minute act with four actors on stage. It was sexy, silly, loud and made everybody laugh. Can’t wait to see another play there.
We watched Shrek the Musical, presented by the Valley Youth Group. The theatre itself was clean and comfortable, and all of the staff was super friendly. Parking was easy since there were garages just a block over.
Saw the musical "Snapshots" here on New Years Eve. We had excellent seats center stage about ten rows back. Sound from orchestra pit was excellent, singing was clear and not too loud. Show was only fair, but the theater had nothing to do with that! Ushers and other staff (and there's plenty of them) are all very friendly and helpful. One cool service the concession stand offers is letting you pre-order and pay for your intermission cocktail, snack, etc. before the show starts. Then it's waiting for you in a designated place with your name on it. Not many people seemed to hit the bar at the break of this show so I probably didn't need to use the service, (maybe they were laying back until the power drinking later on New Years Eve) but I can see how this pre-order would be really valuable with more of a party crowd and a little less blue hair!
FESTIVAL OF ARTS WERE SAMPLES OF MUSIC, DANCE, & ART.
We recently saw two shows here. One on the main stage and one on the "kax stage" both shows were great. There isn't a bad seat in the main theatre and the kax stage is an intimate stage with very limited seating. I was worried at first, but it really made the whole show an up close and intimate experience!!! We loved it!
It's a little outdated, but was clean, staff/volunteers was friendly. I would go back
What a wonderful show. Went in a field trip with the elementary students. The children were engaged. The cast was interactive and held a short Q & A after the show. This is a must do for all small children.
Beautiful venue and the play we saw was amazing! They seemed to only have one set of restrooms and they filled up quickly so you have to be quick or just wait until the line has dies down.
easy to access, comfortable seats, feels opulent. great shows!
Went to see Annie great show everyone was good even though it was crowded we were able to move around quite easily. And the performers came out afterwards to entertain the kids and adults too and sign autographs and pictures.
Lovely theater bringing in quality shows to the area. Also has a concession stand with coffee, beer, wine and other drinks that you can bring into the show. Highly recommended to go see something here and would go again.
Beautiful theater...Staff was very friendly...Stage performers were engaging and enjoyed their craft
We've been here many times. Prices are reasonable and the seating is very intimate. Check out discounts on second viewing and the shows where you can meet the actors after. Great time every time.
Love this venue. I have never seen a bad performance here.
I'm just a regular joe, and am probably not qualified to review a theater... so let's do this!
Parking was very convenient, as I chose the lot across the street. Stairwells didn't smell like urine, so it already beats out the Greyhound bus terminal parking garage in Riverside CA for ambiance.
On our way to will call, my daughter and I had an intellectual conversation about the pronunciation of Herberger. Was is 'her-burger' or was it 'her-ber-ger'? Curse you, Hooked On Phonics!
My tickets were delivered posthaste. The atrium seemed fancy until I beheld the swap meet tables functioning as the focal point. But I'ze white trash, so I purchased one of them there comedy/drama mask necklace charms.
I liked the bar set in the hallway. I waited less than a minute both times I frequented it. Oh, how very cosmopolitan I felt with my hand crafted soda. You might want to skip the cookies though... a little doughy for this dough-boy. Yeah, I know they don't have goat's milk, but you can bring your own... in a flask... concealed.
BTW, they will only let you bring bottled water into the auditorium... and if you plan on eating and hard candy during the performance, then you best unwrap it before the drama commences, or risk a public cane-ing... because there were many spectators with walking sticks. I'm enamored with the look, and plan on being a man about town when I order my new shillelagh.
The men's room stalls had ample room... a place where a man of stature can put some distance between his knees. Actually, I only had to go number one. Jealous?!?
The theater was very intimate. I don't think there was a bad seat in the house. I did feel a little cramped, as my knees touched the back of the seat in front of me. How I longed for the legroom of the stall. But I'm a big guy. The seats were comfortably padded.
Big Bonus: my shoes didn't stick to the floor.
I thought the acoustics were great, as I didn't miss more than a few words.
My 15 year old daughter enjoyed it enough to come back, so I am looking forward to attending April's presentation of Mockingbird.
Thank you her-burger for a delightful venue.
Beautiful, intimate theater. The play, Silent Sky was very informative. What a woman has to do to let her talent shine from behind men's egos.
Childsplay is always a delight, and the move to the Herberger downtown was not the problem I anticipated. The shows are on weekends, and you can get parking taken care of if you park at the Arizona Center and take your parking ticket to the box office; at least that was the case when we went to Schoolhouse Rock. Love the theatre itself, as it's a warm, friendly venue.
Watched "A Christmas Carol" live. One actress did every character. One of the most amazing performances I've seen. Great place
Great place. Great shows all the time. Very well run. There's really nothing they can do to prevent stupid people from forgetting to turn their phones off. There's only so much they can do. Otherwise, you just can't go wrong at the Herberger.
Attended a light musical tribute to the holiday season at a noon time presentation. Great musicians and good humor. Don't miss if you have a chance to attend a show here.
Great place to visit. Interesting shows. Nice bar area, to get a drink or a snack before the show. Nice display area of the local art. Very friendly people, a great place to come and watch a show. I highly recommended it.
Nice theater in Phoenix. Not so big, good view from the seats.
Thoroughly enjoyed the lunch theater. The food was great and the price was perfect. Saw the Play Luna and Solis. It was amazing. Definitely fun and well priced. Can not wait for the next play.
Great plays- saw a dance show here recently. Multi level seating but smaller than I expected. On the flip side they get you very close to the stage no matter where you sit.
Loved the Pavilion... Enjoyed "The Barber of Seville". Cannot wait for our next adventure at the Opera... A wonderful experience..
I loved the quaintness or the theatre. Small audience area but stage felt full size. Drink prices were average, good snack variety.
Saw Selena Maria sings, was a wonderful Childsplay production. Definitely will be back.
The Herberger Theater is a great venue for plays and smaller musicals. The acoustics are great and there are enough bars, restaurants (before or after the event) and parking to make it a fun evening.
Great place to see a show. Not a bad seat in the house, sound is great even to the balcony. They make great use of a small stage to build grand scenes.
We saw a 1-person rendition of A Christmas Carol in the outside pavilion. The actor was phenomenal and we enjoyed ourselves immensely.
It's a great place to go for legitimate theatre here in Phoenix. They have several troupes that are in residence and guest troupes that come in. The lunchtime theatre also has lunches that you can order ahead of time and enjoy right there.
I love the variety of shows!!
What a wonderful venue. They have multiple floors of balcony seating. The sound and lighting systems are very nice. I look forward to returning again in the future.
Seating in stage west aren't that comfortable
Enjoyed the preformance, facilities are great. I would have given 5 stars but a friend of mine fell near a usher and she didn't even check to see if she was okay or help get her up. Shame on them.
Nice smaller theater atmosphere.. Saw School House Rock - the kids loved it, I think in part due to the fact that they were close enough to the stage to feel involved.
Herberger is the premier theater in the Phoenix area by far. Beautiful venue with the best quality productions. We are so grateful for the culture and arts they bring.
Two beautiful theater the smaller Stage West and the larger main stage called Center Stage also a black box theater several resident Theatre companies including Arizona Theatre Company as well as Center Dance Ensemble.
In the heart of downtown nearby venues include the Phoenix Convention Center Phoenix Symphony Hall and the Orpheum. Major sporting venues downtown and clean the baseball field home of the Arizona Diamondbacks and the arena home of the Phoenix Suns. Plenty of nearby dining including the Arizona Center across the street and just down the block from the Collier Center with lots of high-end restaurants as well as some fast food.
Awesome theater! Always a great time!
Beautiful theatre without a bad seat in the house.
The HTC is great was always! If you have not purchased tickets for Cabaret, you must! The cast was great, Emcee and Salli 👍👍 …
Nice theaters in this building. We've been to a variety of performances here. Good memories. Great family times.
The theatre is comfortable to begin with, good seats, good leg room. And it feels like a small theatre. Then there are the excellent plays and actors. One of the good ones!
Fantastic theater. Gorgeous, well maintained. Priced fairly for what you experience here. I put up with mediocre parking because the level of beauty and entertainment here is so superior.
Saw the comedy for women. Took out of state guests and we all loved it. Hilariously funny! Actors are great. Good time was had by all.
Ordered a sandwich they called it an adult grilled cheese, we got a normal grilled cheese. When I asked about the sandwich, they said oops, but I saved you 6 dollars. Other than that we really enjoyed ourselves
I really love this venue, I just wish the intermission concessions were better. But I don't have a ton of experience with different theaters, so maybe that's just always the way it is.
Love the Herberger Theater! Intimate feel, star quality performances! Saw Fiddler on the Roof and Ring of Fire! Can't wait for the next performance!
I love this theater.
Nice theater for smaller performances. Acoustics are very good. Most parking is a little far but that is downtown for you.
It was amazing! Our son’s class has field trip and we’ve been watching great play. Thank you for incredible time!
Very small venue, intimate, but they couldn't seem to get the audio right and at times it was extremely loud, especially for little kids during Mary Poppins.
Very nice theater. Excellent programming. Courteous efficient ushers. Box office very efficient also. Discount parking vouchers are a nice touch.
This is a beautiful theater that's big enough for Broadway-caliber plays but small enough that every seat is a good one. Problem: It's freezing in there.
Theater in the heart of the Phoenix downtown. Plenty of restaurant close by for be or after the show. Staff is friendly and professional. Seats are comfortable but not a lot of leg room on the side stage
parking needs to b more better shouldn't have to buy a ticket n go inside to get ticket them go back to ur car n park. its downtown Phoenix very hard to find quick parking to run into get a parking ticket rediculous 30dollars to park outside theater
The venue was terrific and the concert presented by North Valley Chorale was throughly enjoyable.
I performed here when the Arriba Project was raising money for Puerto Rico. I had an excellent time with an amazing crowd of people who appreciate the arts. Highly recommend.
This is a beautiful theater in the heart of Phoenix. It has both beautiful spaces to gather prior to the show and to enjoy the show where every seat is a great seat.
It is a quaint theatre with that older vibe, a sense of history. Offers a variety of plays and have not yet been disappointed. Love it!!
Outside jazz... Outstanding performances and great downtown sight line...
Got a gift certificate as a gift to here. They wouldn't let me reserve tickets with it without going to theater so they had my certificate in hand. Great performance, but terrible customer service. I'll tell my family not to get me a certificate for here again.
Wonderful, comfortable place to see a show. This is not a fancy theater but it as an intimate feel and staff is always very friendly and helpful.
Saw Freaky Friday , it was very good. the theater is nice and the seating is wonderful. NO BAD seats in this place! #intimate#spacious
It was a sensational performance. Enjoyed it from beginning to end. Talented cast, great music and incredible sets.
Can't wait to go back
Three venues in one place. Quality entertainment and family friendly. Convenient parking. Comfortable seating, friendly ushers. Free First Friday events.
The theater is very nice and the show was was better than I expected. I would definitely go again.
Me and my little sisters class were on a field trip to see Matilda the play it was a great show the kids and me loved it
Had a great time seeing Music Man. Ladies said the bathroom stall doors were so close to the toilet bowl that it was difficult to enter and exit.
Perfect sized theater. Not a bad seat in the house! Sound system is great. Restaurant right across the street.
I went with my daughter on a field trip to see a musical here and the theatre was Nice, clean and we had a great time.
This was my first visit, and I really enjoyed the theater. Cozy, friendly staff/volunteers, and a great experience.
Very accessible to the handicapped people and also very great sound throughout the theater ,able to hear everything that was said by all the actors & actresses
Love the theatrical selections and the stage is set to make you feel a part of the show. Very professional and pleasant staff.
Love the Herberger Theater! It is quaint and small, but has fabulous plays! So nice that it is in the heart of the city too!
The theater itself is very nice. The seats are comfortable but nothing special. Parking is available in a parking garage.
Nice place for shows...sat in the nose bleed section turn out to be the best seats....I could see everything! Place is nice and clean
Pretty nice place. The only downside was that they have a concession stand but no food is allowed in the theater.
I love the actors play, their expression to make it feel more livable, and how connects to an indivudual to a more christmas spirit. Its great and prople should come.
Great shows wonderful theater. Parking is difficult get there early once it gets crowded it can be difficult to navigate the area by car.
Excellent venue, seating is perfect and comfortable, extremely enjoyable theatre to partake in a play, Sweeny Todd was simply amazing!!!
Wonderful intimate theater. I've seen many great performances there. Always a pleasant experience.
Saw Mary Poppins the second night with 8 of my family members and it was great.
But I do think parking could be better especially for handicap..
Perfect size you can sit anywhere and still get a great view of the show. Staff is super friendly.!
Great venue. Wonderful theatre..even the "nose bleed" section is wonderful, arguably better than lower level.
Excellent venue. Seems to be nothing but good seats. The wizard of oz was spectacular... beyond expectations!!! Fabulous
We saw The secret comedy of women. Real good, laughed so much I cried. Do not bring a man with you as he will be picked on.
Absolutely a beautiful venue. Acoustics are pitch perfect and the ambiance is warm and genuine.
This is a great venue. This is our second visit to Stage West and there is not a bad seat in the house.
Very nice place..we have been there twice to see shows, very good productions!
ATC presents excellent theatrical productions. Cabaret was entertaining and provocative. Talent was of national caliber.
Great venue. Not a bad seat. Don't park at the Arizona Center. $18 for 3.5 hours.
Awesome experience. First time going to the theater.
The pay parking is right across from the theater. The staff were nice and helpful
Wonderful community theater. Cozy atmosphere. Very friendly and delightful staff.
Great theater. Comfy seats. The staff was the best of any theater I've ever visited.
I was a chaperone on a school field trip seeing Ella Enchanted. Very nice place. Loved the show!
Theater had very comfortable seats. Staff was very friendly & helpful. Parking garage was 4blks. away; too far.
Parking was a nightmare and cost much more than was informed of. Went for school field trip, show was ok.. would have preferred more actors.
Great food. Great service. The kale & kinoa salad's yummy!
Love this Theater very clean everyone was nice so appreciative that they provided tickets for the Cancer Support Group.
The venue is not only beautiful, it's a great place to see a live performance. There's not a bad seat.
Lovely, intimate theatre. I would most definitely see other performances here again.
They offer free admittance events every first Friday of the month from 6 to 9pm. Really cool!
This was my first time to the Herberger. I love the small theater our performance was held in. It was an intimate venue that really added to the experience.
Very nice facility in a good convenient locale. Clean and bright. Professional Staff. Comfortable seats in the balcony.
This theater has kept its appearance and cleanliness up very nicely. Small bathrooms so be prepared.
Every seat is a great view. Intimate feel and very good acoustics.
Exterior renovations have upped the beauty. Not sure about the food rack in lobby but moves along the lines for food and beverage a bit.
Gorgeous theatre! The singer/actors in the musical were amazing.
Seats are a. It cramped and uncomfortable-and have been for 20 years.
Love this theater. No bad seats. Great plays will always return
Great place, great view from any seat, near by parking, helpful staff, bar and great shows.
I had a wonderful experience seeing "silent sky". The staff were very friendly and the play was great!
Gorgeous little theater with beautiful art scattered about. The only downside is that parking is either really expensive at the garage or hard to find.
My daughter and I went to see La Cage aux Folles. It was fantastic! I would love to see it again.
The play was great! Lovely theatre!
Its a beautiful theater and couldn't be in a better location. Parking is a bit of hassle but i recommend using ParkWhiz and pre-purchasing a valet at the nearby hotel.
Very nice place to see plays. Staff very friendly. Not a bad seat in the house
Great place for a show. Always kept clean and the ushers are always friendly and helpful.
Great place to see shows, but they have nude statues near the front entrance

First visit. The show was good but was really impressed with the facility and the acoustics.
Very nice theater. Saw Annie put on by the Valley Youth Theater. Excellent production.
Wasn't big on the smoke that flooded our face at the Christmas performance, asthma ignited. Inquire before attending if this would affect you, it was a tough evening.

My three-year-old and I enjoy the acts that are put here very intimate theater.
My daughter and I had the joy of seeing Sweeny Todd. It was fantastic. The venue is beautiful.
The help at this place aren't very nice. Never do balcony unless you make sure you get a middle seat. Other wise donate your money and bring a pillow.
Back in the 90's I used to go all the time with school and by myself and the plays always be awesome to wach
Beautiful theater and wonderful performances!
Great theater! I'll definitely be back for another performance
