Reviews of ASU Gammage

A beautiful and magnificent theater! You can see world famous play productions here and more. The concession area is large enough to accommodate many people at intermission. The restrooms are very nice. We were here to see the musical production of "The Band's Visit" which has won 10 Tony awards! It was excellent and very enjoyable. Every time we have been here, it has been an amazing experience. If you find yourself in the Phoenix area, we hope you will check out this spectacular theatre in Tempe. Enjoy a play that will transform and take you to another place and time. 👍👍👍👍👍

Went to the lion king and absolutely loved it. We were in the lower level ( row 7 center) and it was great views. They also consider this the VIP section and had bags that they gave us. Have sat in the balcony before and won’t do that again as it’s way too steep . So if you are scared of heights, I wouldn’t pick the balcony. The show was amazing and the theater itself is lovely. They had lots of ushers as you drove in, guiding you but you w wish they had the same after the show. Driving out of the parking lot was very chaotic and took a long time. We did buy $10 parking pass when we bought the tkts and that was helpful. ( at least when driving in).

The security, parking, and seating/door staff are friendly and helpful. The bartenders are quick quick and liberal with the spirits. Parking stalls are a bit too small for the average vehicle. We saw the Alton Brown, the Thyme Lord's show. The restroom situation could be improved, but it also adds to the charm of what is Gammage.

Went to see Lion King!! Was great show. Will never buy balcony seats again.. This is very steep to high very crowded up there too.. I would recommend if elderly get at the bottom row and drop off at front because my aunt had to walk a great distance where they parked everyone.. Very hot had to stop five times.

AMAZING! We saw Tootsie here and, I'll admit, I was skeptical. Then I walked in. The theater is stunning and allows for gorgeous shows. Our seats were a tad uncomfortable, but that allowed for compactability. It wasn't unbearable by any means, and I was left with an overwhelmingly positive impression of the venue.

I have waited so long g to go to a performance in this work of art and it did not disappoint. The curvature, the colors and the accousustics are incredible. It is a delightful experience.

Very nice venue. Great sightlines from balcony. Pleasant patio for pre-show snacks/sandwiches/beverages. Arrive plenty early for best experience. Purchase parking in advance. Confusing seat numbering system (odds on one side, evens on the other, so the lower seat numbers are smack in the middle of some very long rows). Well-staffed with friendly and helpful attendants. Very good to excellent in all aspects.

They have a great place to have some really excellent shows. The parking is easy in and out. The staff always seems very friendly and helpful getting you to your seat or whatever you need. Lighting is very professional done. Seats are comfortable and they give you a lot of room for your legs. Prices on their food and beverages are very good. So, you maybe thinking why the 4 vs 5 stars I would have to say the only thing is the sound system is not that good and you can't hear every thing that is going on all the time. Saw a few shows there now and because of the sound it was hard to understand.

The shows are typically really really good!! We have been season pass holders for a few years. The issues we have are the theater is old and the seats/seating could be better. In the summer the balcony seating is very warm! I was having to fan myself the entire time. The seats are small and not very comfortable. They have wine and drinks available for purchase but there are no cup holders for drinks at your seat. The theater could use some updating.

Very nice theatrical plays and talented preforming plays. Loved the Lion King Broadway Play and Hamilton. I find seating at least 15 rows from stage is best since the seats are not really stadium stacked. I had to keep moving my head to watch the show because the person in front had a big hair do. I sat back my next visit below handicap section and no problem. The seats slop down a bit like stadium seating. Remember you have to pay $10 for parking. Reasonable price show items. Drinks and food of course pricey. Easy traffic flow arriving and leaving show; even almost sold out events.
Thomas Painter
Awesome venue designed by FLW.
Saw To Kill a Mockingbird, terrific show.
Easy in and out, ladies beware you can only take in a clutch sized purse-else you check it or bring back to your car.
Kyle
The venue is easy to access, and even with congestion, it is built to allow people to enter and exit quickly. A very pretty building, reasonable parking costs, and it was very clean.
I can't confirm if this is a constant issue or it was just specific to the event I attended, and I should have expected this being on the upper balcony. I got an eyeball full of just about every beam light. Very much recommend not getting the nose bleeds.
Rachel Ewell
Fabulous theater, acoustics are excellent, seating is plentiful and seats are super comfy! Definitely want to try to get there a decent amount of time before the show starts to get refreshments and get to your seat.
Some Guy
Tremendous venue with a few notable limitations. Stage and sound system are excellent. Super professional place for an event. Always seems to have a great selection of high quality performances. If you aren't able to park in the attached lot, you'll be in an ASU parking garage several blocks away. Architecture is appreciable, but the simplicity of it all, especially the lobby is dated. The original design with the central staircase is cool, but they flow of people causes a lot of congestion, especially near the entrances, despite the novel system of being directed to a specific "portal" right on your ticket. Food and drink selections are relatively limited, especially for smaller events. Views can be limited by rigging for seats in the balcony, but the orchestra and mezzanine levels are without obstruction (front row of the mezzanine is my personal favorite spot).
Prissy Blackshire
I took my teenage daughter to the show and we really enjoyed it. She gained some education about our culture and she got to see where our stepping in fraternities and sororities originated. Glad we attended.
Gurman Singh
We saw The Lion King and it was an amazing performance. The theater is beautiful and chairs are comfy.
Ladonna Lewis
Great venue for a show. Being on campus means parking can be a bit weird, but overall love coming here. Enjoyed the show (SIX). Seats are pretty comfortable. Sat in the balcony for the first time and it was not my favorite. Very steep seating and my view was partially obstructed because I was in the first row where there is a safety rail.
Eean Levin
What a great venue to catch a play or musical! Everyone in staff from security to food service, to the ushers were friendly and had smiles on their face! Thank you for being socially responsible and asking patrons to wear masks, always easier to enjoy a show when you don't have the stress of worrying about those around you.
Scott Sloat
For a show on a Sunday, parking attendant very accommodating handicap/ Sr. Citizen parking. We had to get tickets printed, box office way around other side of building, could be signed better. Found elevator to top balcony eventually. Snack bar is nice to have available on all floors.
Misty Ritchie
The new staging of Oklahoma did not work for me as a fan of the old school musical. I appreciate the artistic risks that were taken, love the diverse casting, appreciate a more country & western arrangement of the songs, the use of video was interesting, but did not like the blackout portions or the reduction of dance numbers. The talent was rather uneven across the cast, which probably contributed to the production quality. Plus the sound was not great. Shout out for the effort, but overall not that successful.
Elena Devine
Jesus Christ Superstar show was blast from the past !!! Excellent performance and venue
Emily Price
I’ve had season tickets here for the last 4 years and I absolutely love it. Great theatre and the season tickets are well worth the money. I’ve sat in most of the locations as well and the top balcony is high but you’re still there enjoying the production.
Chris Hansen
Great place to see a show. The only downsides are getting out of the parking lots after the show, the packed halls in the venue before you go into the auditorium, and the drink and vendor lines are in those crowded halls before you go into the auditorium. But, as a season ticket holder great place to see many varied shows and plays. An off Broadway venue.
DB Hall
I've attended event at Grady Gammage for decades. This awesome theater and the usher never disappoint. The foyer is larger enough to accommodate people during any intermission. Acoustics is where this auditorium excels, regardless of where you sit. Whether you sit on the main floor, balcony, or grand tier, they all sound the same because of the design of the building. The balcony and grand tier are suspended away from the back wall; so the sound reaches you from the rear as well as the front. If you've never experienced a musical performance at the Gammage, you're missing something that should on your bucket list.
Christopher Fiscus
Broadway shows come to life here in this Frank Lloyd Wright-designed gem, a Tempe icon. Ample parking, great pre-show meals nearby and stellar acoustics make for a great night.
After the show, wait by the stage door to greet actors as they leave. Come early and hit the souvenirs for the touring shows.
Chris McCormack
This is an iconic Phoenix landmark and venue on a dramatic setting on the big Mill Ave / Broadway Curve, with it's long graceful, clay brown elevated pathways reaching out until the huge black parking lot. And old town/ASU Tempe is just lovely nowadays so it's a very pleasant evening out. That is if the show you are seeing has a top flight sound engineer who mixes music and singing so when it arrives at your seat it's loud and clear. But if not, you may have a disappointing, frustrating experience because from my experience the place must be acoustically challenging because often you can't hear worth cr$p. And if it's music you've paid to hear, that doesn't fly. The building is visually attractive inside and out. Not dazzling inside though, attractive. This was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright's group and definitely has that organic look and feel. Accessibility is OK - long ramps and some stairs. The circular design confuses me and I get turned around in there. Most people probably don't have much trouble though. There's full bars and snack/coffee/beer/wine bars. Lines aren't terrible usually. Seats are more cramped than most similar venues I think. I'm not comfortable with the leg room. All in all you can definitely enjoy a show if there is a really good sound man on the job. If not, the sound won't be right and it will drive you crazy. Cautiously RECOMMEND.
Efanema from Epanema
Saw To Kill a Mockingbird and the venue was wonderful. The theater could have been a bit cooler.
Sarah Jones
It's always a great time at the Gammage Theater! From Broadway shows to performance from the local college kids. It's got great acoustics. The third balcony is very steep, so do be warned if you have a fear of heights.
Steven Ogle
Went to a concert and it was a lot of fun. We paid $25 on line to park. They were only charging 10 in the lot. Why do people think it is ok to stand up in front of you with their hands spread out and sway back and forth with the music? It was a good evening though.
George Martin
We went to see Oklahoma, and it was awful. It was the first time we ever walked out at intermission. In fact, there were so many people that left at intermission that the cars leaving felt like the rush to the parking lot after the event is over. The Gammage theater is a really nice venue. Almost all the seats have a great view. The bathrooms are accessible and clean, and I didn't see any of the long lines like in the past.
Sherrie Jarama
Awesome place to see Broadway shows without traveling to NY!
George Fallar
We attended a Bonnie Raitt concert at Gammage, our first visit to that venue despite decades living in the Valley.
We were able to purchase parking for our wheelchair lift equipped minivan that was easy in and out and within steps of the front door. That alone was a welcome improvement over other local venues.
The Frank Lloyd Wright designed auditorium has his fingerprints all over it and is worth a visit just to get a taste of his genius.
The wheelchair seating near the stage is unique and has a few problems. Bear with me...
The row BEHIND the row for wheelchairs is on a floor raised about three inches above the floor level of "the pit". We had a "companion seat" for my wife and a spot for me in my power wheelchair in the last row in "the pit", a flat floor are just in front of the stage which is a GREAT spot.
The problem is that when I tried to back my power chair in next to my wife's seat, the rear wheels on my chair hit the raised floor for the row behind which resulted in my seated position being maybe a foot ahead of my wife's in her fixed "companion" seat.
The net result is she would be sitting next to me, but far enough behind that our experience for the concert would have been reduced significantly.
HOWEVER...
The staff at Gammage listened to what we had to say, listened to our explanation, and resolved the situation by bringing in another seat for my wife and placing it in the empty row one row closer to the stage.
The staff is great at Gammage and the resolution was perfect and Bonnie Raitt was her usual spectacular self and we had a great night out.
* (the only reason it's a 4 instead of 5 star review is the acoustics in the auditorium are dated and the above described seating weirdness) *
Kathy Larkin
Gammage is a great place for shows. However, Oklahoma was horrible! We couldn't believe the number of people, including our group of 4, who were waking out at intermission. Know of others that had the same experience the next day. Otherwise, would have given 5 stars.
Steven Esposito
The building is beautiful on the outside but getting shabby on the inside. The acoustics have never been great and they still aren't. If you get good seats you'll be Ok, but Gammage is low on my list for live performances.
Daniel Finder
Saw "Jesus Christ Superstar" and it was great! I have seen several plays at Gammage over the years and it is one of the best theaters in Phoenix! They even had to rebuild it once for "Phantom of the Opera". They always do a great job, and put on a great show.
Jonah House
Went to see Frozen, sat in balcony. Everything was well organized, the show was amazing, and it was easy to get where we were supposed to be. 10/10 would go again.
Michael Peters
Great venue. Super friendly staff! Beware Balcony D is vertigo-inducing steep. Not for those who have problems with heights.
Joyce Parton
Wonderful Jesus Christ Superstar Musical. Much energy and overall performance was exciting and professional. Had to get to the venue due to traffic even though we arrived a half hour early.
Melissa Wichman, MBA
We saw Frozen the Musical and it was awesome!!! Sven and Olaf stole the show but Anna and Elsa's voices were amazing.
Jomething Iomething
ASU Gammage is a decent spot to see a smaller show. Seating is tight and there are plenty of stairs to climb. The place could use an update, but it has its charm.
Jill D
The seat numbers make no sense (one side of the auditorium is odds and the other is evens, so consecutive numbers are not seated next to each other) but other than that this was a great venue!
Chris Hansen
I love the venue. Great productions! Only downside is leaving the parking lot and the extremely crowded halls waiting for the doors to open.
Melissa Walton
It is a nice facility and have always enjoyed the performances and concerts there. The balcony seats are very steep it is extremely difficult to get down the rows to your seats. A person easily could fall into rows in front of them, trying to squeeze by.
Kat Tierney
Interesting layout - I wish there were a few more breaks between the rows for people to get in and out. But a nice venue, fast service at the snack area even with a long line, and the acoustics were excellent!
holli magnus
To kill a mockingbird. Wonderful venue and a great nostalgic play. A tad on the campy side but overall thoroughly enjoyed.
FPK
Thank you ASU for allowing a wonderful evening, with a thought provoking panel of guests and not caving to the mob.
Charlie Kirk, Dennis Prager, Dr. Radha Gopalan and Robert Kiyosaki, thank you for sharing you wisdom to what seemed to be a packed house.
Himmat Yadav
Visit to gammage was really awesome experience. The international student welcome was held here and it was spectacular view with so many people. Seats, sounds, stage everything is spectacular and mesmerizing. Indian students and Chinese students gave excellent performances of their respective cultural dance forms. All flags of the various schools looked great on stage. Very spacious hall with thousands of seats both on ground and upper floor. The toilets available were also clean and good. Parking is available outside gammage. Buses for other asu campuses and orbit buses have a stop here.
ernestine woods
Loved the show the theater was so BIG and BEAUTIFUL. It was packed last night. I will go again
Vic Sala
We had excellent seats and saw Jesus Christ Superstar which was fabulous
. Great singing.
Gonzalo Tavizon
What a place! It definitely screams Frank Lloyd Wright... first row balcony not a bad place to see a play. (Jesus Christ superstar).
Emanuel Gonzalez
This wonderful venue defies aging. It's always a pleasure to enjoy a performance here. ASU's Symphony Orchestra has also been a great experience the two times we've seen them perform.
Michelle Gallegos
Cool place to see a Broadway show. The venue itself was part of the awesomeness of the afternoon. The Frank Lloyd Wright design was timeless, and like walking into a piece of both art and history. The venue is well designed, and didn't seem to have a bad seat in the house.
Thomas Rosario
I call this place the fishbowl, unless you are in that certain sweet spot, orchestra center close, all seats are not that good. Went to watch come from away, which was amazing
Jenna
Great venue! We went to see The Lion King and had so much fun! Plenty of restrooms and the staff was wonderful. I do wish the seats were bigger and they definitely need more space on the upper levels. It was actually kind of scary getting seated. Worse than a baseball game at Chase Field. Haha!
You could easily fall.
All in all a great experience. We had good food and drinks and the show was magnificent. The sound was good and the lighting was fantastic!
*I do wish they’d put a mask mandate in place for safety.
Donna Wilson
I was treated to Hamilton as a Birthday gift. What a treat!!! I'm handicap and the assistance of the staff to get to my sits and all other accommodations was a blessing. They all were cordial and knowledgeable of Gammage. Even faced with the limits today's world has brought us, I had the time of my life. I had wonderful seats and enjoyed the show greatly with my sons.
Michael Clevenger
Once we got inside the auditorium the evening was wonderful. I took my daughter to the lion king Broadway Show. But getting in to the complex in the parking was a very frustrating experience. We stayed in the left-hand turn lane for probably 15 minutes because there was not an officer out directing traffic. Then we had to park down the street at a parking garage and there was no service of any kind offer to transport people to the actual auditorium. I would recommend that you leave plenty early to accommodate for the time that it took for us to finally get the car parked and then walk to the auditorium.
Mike Johnson
They always have wonderful musicals during their Broadway season! The theater is a bit outdated but still a great place to see a musical.
Kariessa Welch
Went to see Hamilton. Fantastic musical!! The theater itself was very well put together. I didn't feel like there was a bad seat in the house. Staff was friendly. Everything felt clean. Masking was required.
Steven Deschenes
Really nice music venue. We took a class field trip to see the orchestra play. Excellent acoustics and classic style. The students really enjoyed the performance and the staff was excellent. I would recomend any classical music lover to come check out a show. You won't be disappointed
Reyer and Associates
Great parking and staff was helpful and the acoustics were great. Get there early for parking.
MYRIAM GUTIERREZ
I did like the place, you have to arrive early, they do have restaurants you can eat and drink actually during the show.
You can see ok from the balcony, but I do recomend to get tickets from any other area.
Littlered527 Happy
Great local performing arts center. Loving our season tickets. The performances have been fantastic. At this time they are still requiring face masks.
As of April 2022 masks are no longer required. All bags must be clear
Rita S
We went to ASU Gammage for the first time to see Hamilton. The theatre is very nice and the staff are professional and knowledgeable. My only complaint was that it is so cold in the theatre. I was wearing a sweater and was still shivering. Make sure to bring an extra jacket.
J C
We saw the Lion King, it was so wonderful! We have been to several shows and have trouble making out some of the characters' dialog. We feel they should increase the volume in the actors' microphones and the speakers. I know you can get headphones, but didn't see where to find them because of the sea of people flooding in for the show. It would be helpful to have visible signs pointing the way.
Gwen Guthrie
Saw Lion King for the first time and totally enjoyed it. Would have been nice if Ticketmaster warned about the clear purse policy so my friend wouldn't have had to take his $500 portfolio all the way back to the parking garage. The craft & theme cocktails were tasty & a great hit with the audience.
Jess Phillips
The staff is always very helpful and nice. We have watched many plays here, so great memories. Seats are not very comfortable and not for wide build, unless you want to get to know your seat neighbor, lol. Stay out from under the balcony as it seems to make the sound unpleasant (maybe because of echoing?). Concessions are super expensive like all venues, and parking can be a mess if you don't purchase parking ahead of time. Give yourself plenty of time to arrive since Tempe and Phoenix traffic is always a gamble and who knows what street will be under construction and torn up, and/or closed completely. But very happy to have a venue to bring Broadway to the Valley!
Pam Jack
Went to see Hamilton. The shów was amazing. The Venue was great. Our Tickets in the 6th row were perfect. Gammage is a great venue. Can't wait to go back.
Eric Arevalo
I've been here twice and I've been blown away both times. Great facility. Convenient drinks, snacks, and merch located downstairs before the show. Drink stations upstairs to get something at intermission. The lion king show was spectacular. Parking was a little inconvenient, but I believe that had to do with the time I got there. The parking signage wasn't that great, but overall, not horrible. Love going to watch plays here, and would recommend to all to go at least once.
Tom Putrow Jr
Great venue, Great acoustics....wonderful staff!
VICKI HOOPER
This theater is gorgeous and the only public building in Arizona designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It is easy to get to and has a lot of parking. My only real complaint is that it was freezing in there. I am usually cold but my husband isn't and he was cold. Bring a sweater!
Lourdes Palacios
This was a great show. It was our 1st one and my son loved it can't wait to take him to other ones.
Vera McBryde
I attended the Lion King at ASU Gammage. The show was spectacular. The seating in the 1st balcony was great. The arena itself when trying to find my seating was a bit difficult to underhand for a 1st timer. The parking wasn't too clear. General parking was in the garage, at quite a distance in the heat, causing discomfort for those not prepared for the walk. I would definitely return with a better understanding of what to expect.
Spencer Heaton
Saw the Lion King here and it was a blast! So well done.
Cameron “BeardedWizardist” Olsen
I've been coming to Gammage Theater for a very long time. I've seen so many different shows here, and have enjoyed almost every single one. The venue isn't huge, which makes it feel much more comfortable and inviting. I've sat in many different seats from right in front of the orchestra to way up in the upper balcony and don't feel like there's a bad seat in the house. No matter your budget, you'll find a good seat here. My only complaint is entrance and exit to the main parking garage. It is a one way street that makes getting into and leaving a long ordeal. It's not enough in my opinion to warrant a loss of a star in the rating, however.
Michael Lambert
Sat in the 10 row in the balcony great show didn't miss a thing. Jesus Christ superstar 2nd thim seeing it.
Debra Meyer
ASU Gammage Theater has had some wonderful productions like Wicked, Mama Mia, and Lion King.
Shauna Dorscher
It's a beautiful place I've seen many shows there but it was a bit frightening when the guard or police officer got into it with the couple sitting next to me ! It could of been handled differently. I really thought the officer was going to start fighting in my lap!!! It could of been alot worse . Scary experience 😬 …
Charles Candland
Came to see Jesus Christ Superstar. Great experience. Always love shows here.
Russell Mann
I have never been disappointed at this venue. I advise you look closely who is selling your "official" event tickets. We got directed to a third party for LION KING and paid extra fees.
But nonetheless Gamage has abundant, helpful and pleasant staff, and every show is phenomenal. We appreciated to nearby covered parking garage, the security, and the traffic control officials who made coming and going so quick and smooth.
It's a beautiful venue. on a slight down note, during LION KING the audio to the back section was a little bit low making it hard to hear what the performers were saying. The LION KING show and WICKED were epic performances!
Ellen Boyd
Very organized entry. Really impressed with the food and drink offerings. A person can grab a small bite to eat to satisfy their hunger at the concessions stands. More than junk food. Decent offerings.
Savannah Pendland
My husband and I went to see the lion king, and boy, was that such a beautiful show. I had never been to a musical before so I was in awe after getting out. All the work they put into everything turned out truly amazing. I would definitely back to watch again!!
Jordon Valenzuela
Went and saw the lion king and must I say it was amazing. Had a Vodka cranberry since they do not make mix drinks and it was pretty bad but the show was awesome and staff were great at helping me find my seats.
Keri Craig
Saw the lion king, great performance. Seats are small ( with wise) lots of leg room. The bathrooms were clean and a lot of stalls.
Phillip Gaines
Went back to Gammage after seeing Phantom of the Opera back in 2002 for Hello Dolly on a Wednesday evening. Upper balcony front edge row seats this time. Great acoustics for this age of building. Some building maintenance was in need of attention with chipped plaster in spots. The stage accommodated many large set changes during this play. Enjoyed being here! Recommend that everyone come experience Gammage at least once!
Cynthia Mayzes
I was told that the systems was having an issue causing a delay when getting my ticket from the box office, for which they did apologize for. (Thank you) However, they failed to mention that SOME seating areas would be closed prior to the shows beginning and if your seat are in these areas you would have to wait and watch the beginning of the show on TV monitors.
After the purchase and finally getting my ticket in hand to see Lion King it was never, mentioned about the early seating area closures. An usher informed me and others as we walked toward the lower level seating, that our areas were closed and we would have to watch the first 20 minutes on a TV screen. (Only select areas) Had I known about the closed areas after the BOX OFFICES delay, I would not have purchased a ticket for that showing but the later one, as 20 minutes is quite a bit of time and it should have been made known. I also hadn't seen any notice of early seating area closing for any show times, at anytime while checking for tickets in advance, online or when calling the Box Office direct. Customers should be made aware of this prior to the purchase of tickets or at the least it should be noted on the ticket.
NOTE: The show had NOT started! As we waited we saw 2 groups of partially costumed characters be let through the closed areas to get the remainder of their costume prior to start. One usher said, "see you get to see some of the characters on there way to get the rest of their costumes" as if it were a consolation after being told we would have to watch the first 20 minutes on what appeared to be a 32 - 42 inch monitor.
Georgia Zagaros
Went to see the Lion King for our second time, first in Arizona. We are avid play goers, but this was our first experience in Arizona. The play was outstanding, the venue itself could be improved. The balcony is extremely high and would personally not recommend these seats.
Jeff McTag
Gammage shows it's age.
The theater's booking team does a good job bringing in popular acts.
The facilities sometimes don't do the shows justice.
The acoustics are mediocre and not uniform.
The lobby is a narrow area, resulting in horrible congestion before the show and during intermission.
On the positive side, there are plenty of exit doors. So the theater empties quickly.
The bathrooms aren't sufficient for the expected need at intermission. The men's will have a short line. The women's will be so long, some will miss the start of the 2nd act.
The balconies have some very limited view seats. It's embarrassing they have revenue seating in some spots.
Brenda Gifford
The ticket prices are really high I think....they say $70 on the ticket but you end up paying $140 because you can't buy direct its all through 3rd party vendors 🤯🤯🤯 …
todd wynn
The best Theatre in town.
Great shows, wonderful venue.
Colleen runs an organization that is always improving.
Smiling faces, security, ushers, better food all under her guidance.
And more women's restrooms with an army of stalls.
Lion King was our most recent show.
We will be back for many more
Charlotte McKimson
If Kevin Murphy wrote about this place in his Year in the Movies book, he would have complained about the tiny seats and hardly any arm rests and I would have agreed.
I'm happy about my experience there besides that.
VaughnSWIF
Everyone was friendly and they had a good system to get everyone parked for the Lion King production (which was the best production I have ever seen!) I only wish the sound guys would have turned up the microphones so we could hear the speaking parts better.
James R. Carter Jr
We saw Wicked tonight. While the decore is dated, the theater itself was above standard. Parking is a bit of a hassle but it was pretty well managed. Well done!
Penny Mccollum
To Kill a Mockingbird was excellent! The actors did an amazing reenactment of the author's intent to understand how deep racism can take place to murder another living being.
Donna Anderson
We have season tickets and have really enjoyed all of the plays. They are just as good as Broadway!
Derrelyn Phelps
They Finally fixed the sound system!!!!!!!!
Last time I attended a show here was before Covid and the sound system was terrible. You couldn't hear a thing the performers were saying and it wasn't due to the volume.
Whatever they did made the words very clear and understandable.
The women's bathroom update was much needed and is beautiful now too.
The next thing that needs updating is the seats!!! Comfortable, but definitely dated.
But I have a wide size 16 butt and I fit without an issue.
Lori Wilke
My second time seeing a play in this venue. First was Wicked, this time was The Play that Goes Wrong. We didn't have any issues with parking thankfully. Cocktails were good & creative. They had several snacks available, we indulged in a brownie and some pretzels. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. It was pretty easy finding our seats which were a little on the small size.
Trent Day
Recently went here to see the Broadway show, Wicked (which was AMAZING btw). Staff was very courteous, friendly and helpful at every turn. Their website recommends to arrive an hour early and if you do go to the gold parking. If you are less than an hour go to the maroon parking garage. Cost for parking varies ($10 - $15). We arrived 40 mins before the show started and used maroon. Staff/Police were there to help direct traffic, give directions all along the way. Ushers were great to help us find our seats. Concessions and merchandise staff were also nice and helpful. They had pricing sheets to pass throughout the line to help you decide and speed up the process. We did all this and still got to our seats 10 minutes before it started. After the show we were so impressed that we went to the box office and got tickets for another upcoming show. Note: the is a terrace area on the upper level if you want some fresh air.

Beautiful venue with the most interesting structure. I'm usually in the nose bleed seats but it's surprising the view isn't as bad as you would think. Plus the sound doesn't suffer either.
Shawn Peterson
It is a great facility to watch musicals and concerts... seats are comfortable... only suggestion I would love to make probably cannot be changed, but I would have liked a little more leg room, besides this, it was a great night.
Sylvin Lange
Excellent Venue for Shows, Concerts, and all Performances! Wonderful Staff and Customer support! Every seat is great!
Chris Murphy
Always a good time no matter where you sit. ALTON BROWN WAS AMAZING
Ken Justice
Great venue… for anything, shows, plays and most importantly, The Herberger Art’s Colleges Graduation Ceremonies! 👍 …
Sean Jaeger
We have recently seen Les Miserable, School of Rock, Cinderella, Hamilton and will see a few more in the next few months here. I like watching plays here, but it makes a huge difference sitting in lower orchestra pit center stage. We saw The Lion King here a few years back from the balcony and were very disappointed. It gets a little cramped in the lobby a during intermission and exiting the parking lot can take a good 30 minutes when in VIP (orange I believe), but worth it for a good play!
Charlotte Si
Amazing show again, great program, comfortable venue. We love this place!
Bob Onie
My wife and I went to see The School of Rock. It was awesome. Place still holds its own after so many years. It's probably why it is the chosen location in the valley for the big production plays and musicals that come thru. Spacious seats and the temperature was just right. It was 105 degrees outside.
Go if you have a chance. I have seen other shows like, Wicked and Romp to name a few. Also, awesome productions!
Marc G
Loved the play! Spectacular! Some of the parking lot attendants were a little odd but whatever
Rebekah Arens
Love this theater! There is no bad seat in the house. Even high up, you can see and hear without difficulty. But be prepared, the seats are very small and you and your neighbors will be close friends by the end of performance. 😊 …
Collecting Eagle
Great venue for live performances. Recently visited for The Lion King and absolutely blown away how the production used the aisles, stage and acoustics to deliver a great performance. The venue is easy to locate on ASU and there is ample parking within short walking distance.
Natalie Warren
Very large and spacious, seats need to be redone/were old. Overall great auditorium. The acoustics weren’t AMAZING from where we were sitting but I will still be back for Wicked in April!
Gary Burcham
Very good venue to see a play. Like all venues escaping the parking lot when the time comes is a struggle
Adam Brunelle
Great theatre. Had row 24 seat 21 and the view was great. Have not been to many plays to compare other seating areas. Great performance for the play Wicked and would recommend this theater to others.
Brett C
We are season ticket holders. So, we are here often! We love this place. Staff is friendly and there isn't a bad seat in the house.
Susan U
Ok my experience with theater production is limited, mostly I go to watch symphonies, dance shows and vocal performances. So my review of Gammage is based on comparison to other venues with those types of shows. I do like the atmosphere and style of this building but I'm often disappointed in the seating. The balcony is scary because of its narrow rows. It feels like I could fall right off if I lose my balance... Or at least fall into someone else's lap, lol. I sat in the orchestra seats this time but toward the back. It was better but not as good of viewing as I was hoping. Maybe the mezzanine would have been better. The sound was great, most of the time. The microphone cut out at least twice but nothing that ruined the show by any means. It just made me realize that you can't hear well at all if there wasn't a sound system. Lastly, plan to use the restroom in advance because lines are long, there are not many available and the rows of seating are so long that you have to walk in front of many people to exit the auditorium (unless you sit near the end).
Anathea Dawn
Saw Hamilton twice at Gammage. A truly elegant place to see a show.
Janis R
We went to see the last showing of Hamilton. The ease of getting in and out of this venue was better than most and enough staff to keep everything flowing efficiently. As far as the actual show...it was AMAZING and the acoustics were such that I could hear every word. I don't believe there is a bad seat in this theater. They did take precautions such as we all had to wear masks and woman had to have clear purses. I had forgotten and they gave me a clear baggie and my son ran my purse to the car. All in all though it was a very memorable event.
Sonia Forlini
Our seats were phenomenal and the show was extraordinary! The cast was extremely talented and we loved the story line. Thank you ASU Gammage for a memorable experience!!!
Tess Elmore
Gammage provides a wonderful experience, and last night's show was OUTSTANDING. I listed 4 stars because parking is a challenge and the facility could use some TLC, but it's always a worthwhile visit regardless. Pick a restaurant on Mill (I recommend House of Tricks) and make a night of it! Who needs dinner and a movie when you can do dinner and a live performance?
Jon Umphreys
Love Gammage, state of the art facility. Great place to see a show and soak up a signature martini before the show.
cheryl lans
50th Anniversary tour of Jesus Christ Superstar..saw it when i was 10 and again last nite..Phenomenal 🙌⚘💥🎤🎵 …
A. Hall
FABULOUS!! We just got home from "Wicked" and it was worth every penny! 😍 The Gammage has great seats, and the sound is perfect, all the way to the top. Parking is not too bad; save yourself some walking and pay the $10 to park AT the Gammage. …
Rosalean Wright
I had forgotten how special Gammage is. There are really no bad seats. It's a wonderful place to see a musical.
Mark Boyce
This is such a great venue. Alton Brown was awesome.
Dale Schaul
Just saw Lion King for the second time. We love Gammage. Have seen many plays including Wicked, Motown, Joseph and his Technicolor..... David Copperfield twice, The Illusionists. Also Jersey Boys.
Rhyan Geiger
Gammage is always great! High quality shows and a great time.
Stefanie Gardner
This theater is amazing! I frequented the Orpheum in Memphis, TN and the Gammage is extremely spacious in comparison. There is plenty of room to navigate between the rows so the leg room is very comfortable even for tall people. I highly recommend a show here.
Enrique Hernandez
I work there so I see almost all the shows yeah right I wish. But I get to see them like right infront of them when the lion king came 10 out of 38 sign a book for me!!
Mr. David
A wonderful experience. Enjoyed everything about my time at the theatre
James Flanagan
Show was at the same time as the ASU game. Trying to get home was a nightmare n took 2 hours
Diana Albertson
These plays are high calibre with Broadway level actors. Try to get up close if you can!
Chris Wanamaker
They have some great performances here. Best seats are about 5-7 rows back. If you're going to get drinks, get here early or time your trips because the lines can get long
celena votel
Went to see Hamilton. Very efficient venue- lots of bathrooms available and even with the long line it moved quickly. They were also very clean. The venue is big but the stage isn’t “huge”. We sat in row 18 which was probably the furthest I would want to be away. The theatre has a slight elevation so you can see over heads. The chairs were pretty comfortable and fit my large frame well. I would splurge on closer seats if you want to see the details better. Please note the further you are from center the more you have to crane your neck. I would recommend going as close as you can staying in the middle section and avoid the last 8 seats or so on either end. I am
Not sure if this was specific to Hamilton but we were not allowed to bring purses/small bags inside theatre. We could leave at “hat check” but that was a hassle. I recommend leaving in car or don’t bring alot of stuff
Verdell Simmons
The Lion King experience was just amazing but sitting up in the balcony was different. Will not sit up there again did not feel safe at all.
Rowane Harris
Thoroughly enjoyed the Broadway Musical hit, Hamilton, performed in the iconic Frank Lloyd Wright-designed, Gammage Auditorium at Arizona State University.
Valerie O'Connell
We are season ticket holders in the nose bleed balcony. We love that Gammage brings affordable shows to the area! My only complaint, and the only reason this isn't 5 stars, is that obstructed views for balcony seating are rarely communicated. I would be fine with occasional obstruction if it was communicated to ticket holders.
Kacey Hoover
Love the wonderful thrill of the theater each time, is a new experience
Ivy Holmes
Went to see the Lion King and it was AMAZING! Just wanted to note that that service from the Gammage staff was world class! They are following covid protocols and making everyone feel safe. Everyone is very polite and willing to help. Great experience!
R Baulllerrr
Lion King was AMAZING! The souvenir prices were the highest I've seen. There were no handicap spots so does my grandpa off then parked. Afterwards, i could get out and turn back to pick him up with the way the traffic was moving so went back to hang out until I could but he ended taking the long walk to the car
Rendall Siegers
Saw Lion King Friday night.
Great venue. Parking was easy.
Leaving should have been controlled by police at traffic light.
Jenna Wild
Saw the Lion King here and it was my first time at Gammage. It is a very beautiful venue and overall the staff was kind and helpful. Would recommend seeing any performance here.
Merlin Pinto
Great play, great theater, getting out of the parking lot took forever.
karisma doughty
Don't forget the clear bag policy like I did! A very small purse can be regular (not clear) by the way.
Dennis Hayward
Recently saw The Lion King at Gamnage. It is a wonderful facility. However I was disappointed in not being able to clearly hear and understand most of the dialog.
I am hearing impaired, wearing hearing aids in both ears. Obviously this contributed to my experience, however, my wife, daughter and her husband who are NOT hearing impaired, said they too had difficulty hearing a lot of the dialog.
I certainly cannot and would not recommend attending any performance if you are hearing impaired.
Perhaps Gammage should investigate upgrading their sound system to something more state of the art..
Jake Burggraff
It's a beautiful theater and the production here is fantastic. Its really worth coming to see shows here
Megan Oelkers
Gammage is the most vertical auditorium I have been in. I am used to theaters like the Orpheum where seats have a gradual rise. At gammage the balcony is so steeply vertical that you can't see much of the back of the stage and you mostly see the tops of heads. The seats are the standard theater fare, just comfortable enough to last until intermission before you get too fidgety. For all the tall people, the legroom is better than many other venues.
Samira R.
The shows put on are pretty amazing. 4 stars bc the ushers could have redirected everyone to their seats instead of letting them cut across isles Where people were seated to get to different sections. It's inconsiderate for the people who struggle with mobility.
James Cooper
Great classic theater. We enjoyed the show. Concourses can get very crowded at peak times, not a place that one can social distance well if this is important to you.
Brad Buell
Beautiful theater, lots of legroom in my section. Takes a long time to get out of the parking lot.
Bridget White
Attended the Les Miserables tour here. It was spectacular start to finish! This venue is wonderful. Free parking, super helpful attendants, great view of the stage, upgraded sound system.
Holly Todd
I love ASU gammage. I have seen two plays there and because of the layout I can see easily and the sound is good.
Shannon
The sounds quality is good and the staff are always friendly and welcoming. They do a good job of keeping traffic flowing and the venue is very close to Downtown Tempe if you want to grab a bite to eat before or after a performance. The interior, especially the seating, could use an update and the food available is way overpriced and mediocre but overall I enjoy coming here for performances and will continue to do so.
Michelle Couture
The show was great, but masks are still required, clear bags and metal detectors are required to get in, and there aren't any ushers to help get you to your seat, and considering the lack of signage you could be wandering for a while before you find it.
Peter Cooke
Sound for opening night play was a little hard to understand some characters. Seating is comfortable, and aisles are reasonably wide. The Wright architecture is perennially stunning. Parking is a bit frustrating, with the limited access routes. It isn't clear where Ada parking begins and ends. Go early! Wish they would drop the mask mandate.
Duncan Schultz
Every seat in the house is a good one with great acoustics and visuals. Concessions and bar lines went quickly enough that there was no rush getting to and from my seat in time during the show's intermission.
John Osborn
The acoustics at Gammage are great. We were privileged to see Bonnie Riatt there.
cj boyce
Wonderful Sunday afternoon. Easy to park, if you get there early, went inside & had a glass of wine before production. Fabulous play - Hadesville. Always a great experience.
laura a Kelly
The greeters and the police woman on duty was so helpful with supplying a plastic for my too large purse. Inside the ticket staff were very pleasant finding me a seat/ticket. Inside the usher helped me find my seat. Of course it's just beautiful inside. It was chilly so take a wrap, sweater.
Charlie Maxson
Went to see "Hamilton". The sound was clear and loud enough.
Rows of seats on the main floor are separated adequately so that getting to one's seat is not too difficult.
Restrooms had lines of people waiting to get in during Intermission but they have been expanded during a recent remodelling and are better than before.
All in all, a good large venue for performances.
Andrew K
Seats are numbered with 1 in the center and odd numbers on the left and even on the right.
Would have been easier to find our seats had we known that going in but the show was awesome, the venue was excellent I'll definitely be back.
Chris Chavez
It's one of few places to see live theatre and touring companies in Phoenix. Unfortunately the sound system is trash despite them "upgrading" it a few years ago. Also, ticket prices are almost as outrageous as Broadway seats...choose wisely.
Cherie Blackwell
We saw SIX.....ABSOLUTELY loved it!! First time here at this venue. Nice clean facility.
Suzy Berens
We went to see Hamilton and really enjoyed the play. However they require you to wear your mask at all times even when outside which I feel is absurd. The way they had it setup, every seat was a good seat. Ordered a couple of cocktails and it was around $30. Parking was easy but exiting was a nightmare. Took probably 40 minutes to get out of the parking lot.
Aaron Card
Just a great venue with excellent acoustics. Our most recent show was Hamilton. The performance was easy to hear and see. The seats were comfortable. We also appreciated the COVID-19 safety precautions and would feel comfortable catching another show here.
Woody Feffer
Fantastic venue but the parking situation here is beyond terrible. No police, no change in light patterns no help whatsoever getting a spot. Took 40 minutes to get to a parking spot.
Monique Stanfield
Great theater with good seating. Like all theatre seats, they are not convenient with size. If you're on the bigger side, you will find yourself spilling over into the seat next to you. I'm not quite plus size, but not thin either and my hips were touching the strangers on both sides of me, it was awkward and I had to sit forward most of the time to avoid it. So frequenting here for shows, I will be very picky on what I want to sit through because of that
Tyler Bowie
Got upgraded seats, sound is always amazing! The Lion King was absolutely incredible, perfect for the little ones. My daughter loved everything from the sound to the lights!
Caleb Everson
Really beautiful theater. I wish it was easier to understand the seating though.
Nicole Chiasson
This was my first time at the Gammage and it was a pleasant experience. Parking was great, entering the venue was easy. There was a hitch though, I did not realize that they had a clear bag policy so I had to run my handbag back to the car. They did however supply you with a ziploc bag if you needed one. Super classy, eh?!!😜 Buying adult beverages wasn't too long of a wait, and their prices were better than concert venues. And the line for buying merchandise wasn't a very long wait either. Their seating is very roomy too. I did not feel squished!! Hamilton was amazing!! Exiting the parking lot was a breeze too. 2 suggestions~make sure you get to your event at least 1 hr. before it starts, and park close to an exit.😊
Marques Davis
Special place my daughter, son and myself attended ASU. We were at Gammage to take my granddaughter to her first Broadway style play The Lion King. It was an awesome experience.
SHORTCAKE
The Musical The Lion King was Awesome! None of the cast missed a beat 👌 we enjoyed it. 🌟 🌟 🤩 ✨️ 😍 💛 💖 🌟 …
Holly Singh
Welcomed over 2000 new international students and families this past Sunday - a great start to a new fall 2021 semester!
Liz Medina
Such a fun opening night with my daughter!Beautiful theater
Tamara Hock
Always a great time at the Gammage. Broadway shows at decent price.
Kim Pennington
We always love coming to Gammage for plays and have never had a bad seat.
Elizabeth Edgecomb
Beautiful theater but AC does not work well in the mezzanine during the summer. Every production I've attended here has had great sound and lighting.
Ian Williams
Plays are dope, if you like musicals definitely give them a go.
Larry Just
Saw Lion King which was ok but over priced. Theater stage is sort of short and for a musical unimpressive.
Jane Atkin
I love Frank Lloyd Wright so was thrilled to be able to see this masterpiece. However sadly there are no tours to take you throughout the interior which was a huge disappointment, even tho it says there are tours Mondays 1 to 4 pm. Still a must see. Don't pay for parking until you know for sure you can see inside the building.
Robert Brabson
Fun theater that is easy to navigate. The orchestra section is a bit outdated and needs some work done on the floors.
Jared Byrne
Beautiful building, very friendly staff. If there is a show/performance that you want to see this is a great venue to attend.
Darlene Harris
The play was great. Parking was was good this time. Leaving the the parking area was slow but kept moving.
Collin Smith
Great venue, all seats are good seats! Nicest people!
The Nictopathic
I was in the nosebleeds and i was terrified. But the second they stepped on that stage I was dazzled and I couldn't even remember the fear I had. The sound system is amazing and the lighting was spectacular! If only I wasnt in the nosebleed I could tell you more about how amazing it was!
Denise Thompson
I give 5 stars for the cast and crew of all the performances. I give 3 or lower for the staff and volunteers working at Gammage. I understand they have a mask policy and I have no problem with following the rules, but the staff are so rude and ridiculous about enforcing it, it makes me not want to go see another show. They harass and chase people down even when trying to eat or drink anything. It's a shame. I love the shows, but all the other theaters we go to aren't like this. I say shame on you Gammage
Michael Robertson
I went to see Hamilton, the location was grand, the show was great, but the outdoor seating was cheap and plastic. The menu consisted of cheap wine and cheap snacks at airport prices. The seats need to be padded better. Other than those details, my experience was good
Jon Schmidt
I have always enjoyed the theatre and Gammage is definitely a great one in the valley. They offer top shows regularly each year including many of the classic Disney shows as well as musicals that have entertained for decades.
Jocelyn Naughton
This theater is stunning, visiting from Canada. Saw Hamilton twice and it was such a wonderful experience. They're a lots of bars set up to serve drinks. Staff was very friendly. The show was absolutely amazing!
Danni
The architecture is quite striking of course, but if you're even a slightly larger person, or a person who has any kind of disability that can cause pain, prepare to be significantly uncomfortable in the theater seats. I saw a show here and was in so much pain by the second act that I couldn't even really focus on the show any more. This theater really needs larger, more cushioned seats that allow for more freedom of positioning and comfort.
Lizz Edgecomb
Beautiful theater and a well organized experience. All staff was courteous and it was easy to find our section and seats. Might be helpful to have more than one merchandise booth to help with crowds and lines.
Jan Martin
Saw the Beatles tribute band Rain. Large capacity crowd but staff managed it well to get people through security and entrance efficiently and seated to start the show on time.
Jamie Figueroa
Gammage is always great! I have loved every show I've seen!
Pixie Pop
We love Gammage and are season ticket holders. Our smallest of complaints is sometimes the sound quality is not the best, but I understand some shows use their own sound system so that could be the cause. I hate the clear bag policy and walking through metal detectors but otherwise love gammage
Pat Turocy
It's a nice theater, but the sound system that they tout is not as perfect as seems. There was a lot of feedback & hissing during the session with Dr. Henry Louis Gates, which was very distracting.
Patty Pierce
I went to my first play here, Hamilton. It was a fantastic experience. Although it was sold.out, was able to get food/drinks and restroom availability within minutes. The facility is perfect from acoustics to seat comfort to beauty!
Billy
Good venue great seat any place you sit in here. The queuing before the shows begin though is kinda a mess really unorganized but once you're seated it's fine.
Gabriel Chavez
Not a bad seat in the house and seats are perfect.
Kasie Wyckoff
Went to Hamilton, which was AMAZING, however, people were still allowed into their seats 10-15 mins AFTER the show had started. I'm sorry but you have the time of when it starts and it even says be there an hour before the show, you shouldn't be allowed in your seat when th doors close. It is very disruptive and rude! Not only that but the mask rule was not enforced as it show be and the ushers that were there did not do their part after the lights were off. Definitely needs some improvement.
Valerie Handlers
Enjoyed the show, Drum Folk. I was disappointed that the bar did not offer carbonated water.
dawn huffman
Handicap parking is not truly handicap parking and truly assessing. I was surprised to pay for handicapped parking and it truly wasnt at an apprpriate distance for someone with a disability. Otherwise it was a great venue.
Chris & Kiasha
Always a good time no matter where you sit. ALTON BROWN WAS AMAZING!
Justin R
The theater and restrooms are clean. The seats are uncomfortable, and there’s not enough parking. The staff is always friendly and helpful.
Chandra Lakin
RENT! Great 20th Anniversary Tour. (Finally bathrooms!!!)
Troy
Always a great time seeing Broadway shows.
M Jackson
Always great to get back here. And each time I wish visits were not so far between.
Hold True
The building has remained beautiful after years of wonderful artist's performances and no matter what show you see it is worth every penny
Bryan Kerr
This storied performance hall has been on my list to see a show here for 30 years. Now that we are semi retired and have the time we'll be enjoying it more
1blondeguy
Impressive venue with several drink and snack options, though pricey. Easy exit from the theater was nice, but traffic is tough anywhere.
As for the show, 10/10!! It was beyond my expectations.
Courtney Elvira
Clean theatre, very organized, staff runs the facility very smoothly. Prices on the foods and beverages were decent and not outrageous. Nice that you can bring your own water. The seats were comfortable and the rows were very spacious, plenty of leg room. Our seats were in the grand tier c1 row 6, I liked how we were higher up and could see everything however it was pretty high to where the the people on stage looked very small and some things were hard to see. The other thing I noticed from this angle is the large ceiling speakers blocked some of the stage backdrop and depending what show you are seeing you may not be able to see everything on the stage.
Chop Yu
Wonderful experience being inside a Frank Lloyd Wright design and Warren Miller film celebration
Jayne Masek
Loved...even high up in balcony....not a bad seat anywhere....air was perfect vs horrible reviews....definitely glad I didn't listen to reviews...
Mike Steffens
Nice venue! Even though it was designed in the 1950's the design still makes it look somewhat modern. Excellent acoustics as well.
Terrilyn Collier
My sister, her friend, and I went to see Tootsie. We were all excited to see this play! I hadn't been to Gammage since junior high school, so I was really anticipating a wonderful evening!
The event was well organized, and my sister was well-versed in the layout and protocol of an event such as Tootsie, so parking and making our way to the auditorium occurred without incident.
We all enjoyed the play. The seats are very comfortable, and our view of the stage was excellent. The ushers were also very helpful!
One thing which may be improved is the sound system. All 3 of us agreed that, at times, it was difficult to understand the speaker or singer over the background music.
Overall, the evening was enjoyable, and a good time was had by all.
LINDA S.
Led on a tour by staff. AMAZING behind the scenes experience.
Im Andrew
The play (Wicked) was amazing and I recommend it to everyone.. even to first time play goers like me! The theater itself is ok. Seemed a little dated once we got to our seats and I looked around. For how much ASU pulls in and how much construction they have going on, I honestly expected it to be alot nicer. I will say that my 7th row seats were awesome. I could see the actors facial expressions. I'd go back, but I do hope they modernize it at some point. The 1970 orange seats could use some freshening up
Saw Lion King this time! It was great!!! I do say, the small crammed seats are getting old. And to all of u people who are extra loud like u r at a sports even.. shut up!! Lol I mean goodness, u think u r the only ones who would like to enjoy the night? And for the people who work there... if s baby has been crying foe 15 min... can you please find the parents.. probably holding the baby.. and ask them to step out??? Is that to hard. People are getting so bad it's shameful. Probably won't go again. Maybe find a place that has adults and not just fully grown children there lol and for 175$ a ticket... asu.. u should be ashamed of this. In a way, it kinda reminds me of seeing the movie Friday when it 1st came out and it was like a BYOB party in the theater lol sad...
Hannah Cass
Absolutely loved watching Wicked here!! It is a little small in the hallways and a little hard to navigate. Otherwise, it was a fantastic experience!!
joeG
First time there. Thoroughly enjoyed my experience. Lion King was awesome experience.
MariAnn Slater
We saw Aladdin the musical and it was fabulous! I have been several times to different events here and it never falls short of amazing!
Alfred Lee
Asking people to come one hour early but not opening seating until 30 minutes before the show created chaotic overcrowding in the vestibule. Parking is also an experience I would l like to avoid. We ran into a very insolent attendent. Show and venue was great.
Angie Smith
Celebrating my 50th birthday early and see the amazing Lion King tonight!! Great show!
Mary Ellen Lee
Love gammage! Hate that they are requiring masks again and a clear bag policy, but the shows are all top notch. Their food is expensive but good and their bathrooms are always clean and they have a ton of stalls. It really is a great time and I love going.
Ramon Hancock
The show was great, the band was extremely talented, the singing was fire. Story was a bit somber, with high notes of comedy to lighten up the mood.
Brian Regan
Fun place to see a show with well organized logistics. They could open the doors a little earlier than they do to go to the seats. The aisles are wide and the seats comfortable with good acoustics.
Carly Griffitts
It's always a treat to attend a performance at Gammage. Such a beautiful venue!
Tara Price
Amazing play! Saw Wicked last night, it was my first play at Gammage! The effects, acting, talent, and the music were top notch! LOVED everything! We sat in tier C and they were great seats! The staff were night and friendly. The theater itself was classy and the seats were comfortable! Can't wait to go again!
Elizabeth Toenies
The music was excellent. The auditorium was unique. Everyone was courteous and friendly. My grand daughter knows how to treat her grannies
We had a great time.
Ice44 Miles
Saw Hamilton @ Gammage on Thursday, 09/23/21. Very impressive venue with great acoustics. I was sitting on the third row from the back and could hear all performers without a hitch.
Richard Rangel
We were there for Hamilton, absolutely loved it, great set, cast was amazing, music phenomenal! Seats were older a little tight. GAMMAGE needs an upgrade, more seating, more bathrooms. Bravo 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 👏 …
Valeria Johnson
I have never been to a live stage play in my life. This was an experience I hope to have more if in my life. The cast of Alexander Hamilton brought the house down tonight! It was absolutely breathtaking!
Patty Vasconez
This is a great venue! The bar, the food, the shows, the organization, the personnel is outstanding. Parking....not that much but just Uber and have a great time. Stay at restaurants or bar around while you wait. So much fun!
Tom Shepherd
We always have good time at Gammage. Shows straight from Broadway, great acoustics and not a bad seat in the house.
Peter Faur
Beautiful theater, but the acoustics could be better. Wonderful, top-notch productions.
Pamela Sottile
Lion King was AWESOME!! MUST SEE!!! SUPER TALENTED PEOPLE
Tanya Bizop
I have seen the LION KING and Also HAMILTON here. I could just sit in the ambience long after the show is over. It's a great place to go early, and just enjoy the experience. I GIVE THE ENTIRE STAFF STARTING WITH THE PARKING ATTENDANTS AND A+.
Deathly Templar
Saw hamilton here. Alcohol was expensive. Traffic direction for the show was sloppy and slow and hectic. Alcohol was stupidly over priced. Forced mask mandate when literally no where else in state except airports are demanding it (least thats justified). The musical itself was wonderful.
Kelly Herr
Don’t buy the cheaper seats at the top balcony- the stage literally feels like it is straight under you and you can barely see the backdrop of the stage. I saw Blue Man Group there. They served alcohol, but only offered to purchase before the show started, not during. There are no cup holders at the seats. Parking wasn’t so bad- close spot, easy out- but we did show up later and left later. Very friendly employees.
Erica Richardson
Show was great. I was not aware of seating setup when I bought tickets so I had to deal with my fear of heights. It was easier when house lights are off. Parking was easy but we arrived fairly early.
Kimberly Friend
Had a great time seeing the show with my youngest son at my alma matter.
Amanda Crandell
Good venue. Seats are decent even in the balcony. I wish they didn't do huge decorations on the outside of the stage though. You can't see them when the lights go down anyway & they block the view for the balcony seats when anything is flying or really tall. Example: the tall animals in Lion King & flying scenes in Wicked.
Cherrie
Lovely venue, but not happy sitting up in top balcony (only place with the "cheap seats" that were $64 w/many attached fees!). At least there is an elevator to get up there Scary getting to seat (so steep!) and little room to walk past others in the row. Good thing we had binoculars to see characters on stage. Probably won't go there again.
Kevin Nieves-Pichardo
They bring awesome Broadway shows. They create special drinks for each show. All drinks are $10 and you can’t tip. Great bar service. Acoustics/sound is not great. Almost all seats have a good view. Traffic can be a a nightmare. Run out of the theater as soon as you can to avoid traffic.
Michelle Hottya
Thanks for bringing great shows! Security line was quick, seating was on time today, show was excellent as always.

Very nice, good performance auditorium. Be careful with the bathrooms, design allows people to look inside. Also, you CAN take drinks into performance area.
This is a nice Frank Lloyd Wright designed facility. It truly shows the care of design. It must have been updated fairly recently with an eye on the classic design scheme.
You sit close enough to the performance to be truly engaged and entertained. The parking was close, easy, and inexpensive compared to California. The only issue we had was the wine and coffee. They were not only not good, they were horrible.
Ri Ann
This auditorium is extremely well run and efficiently run for its size and average number of people occupying it. The acoustica are spectacular, as well as the sound systems and light systems. There are many easily accessible handicap options built into the auditorium, so you don't have to go on the hunt for a ramp or any accommodations. You can also book handicap accommodations with any ticket purchase. A great place to see a show.
Alex Howell
My family and I went to see the show of Aladdin and our experience of the theater was absolutely wonderful! They have a fantastic set up for seating and easy access to the theater itself! Fantastic food and beverage choices and well worth the prices! Staff was friendly, inviting and made the experience more pleasant! And for bathrooms, easy, quick and plentiful!
Tom Geist
The theater itself is very nice. Good sound, good view from all seats. The parking lot, however, is absolutely abysmal. And recently, apparently, they decided to charge $10 to park in it. Everyone is much better off parking in nearby garages to avoid extreme hassle of getting out of that terrible parking lot.
Allen Joseph
Great facility but the performance of Oklahoma was sub par and that's a compliment
Rebecca Pearson
Love the shows here I have season tickets and love having something to look forward to each month!
Terralyn Davidson
I have loved every performance I've watched here, though sitting up the the balconies kind of terrifies me it's still lots of fun! Can get a little cold inside though. Very nice staff! Went here for the High School Musical Theatre Awards and had a blast!!
Robin I. Freeman
Enjoyed the play called "The Band". The music was delightful, and the acting was very good. Indeed, I would recommend this play to one and all. We had a good time.
Vernda E Monette
The staff was awesome... allowed us to be seated early as stairs was an issue for a couple in the group. We saw Hamilton, what a fantastic show.
Kirsten Boyd
I have never seen a bad show here. Parking is a drag but it's worth it. Love the variety. The costumes and sets are amazing. I feel like I'm in New York. Adding all the new women's bathrooms is wonderful. Don't sit in the balcony if you're afraid of heights
Christie Peaslee
Went to see the Broadway Touring group for Dear Evan Hansen, and the ASU Gammage made it such a lovely experience.
Janis Schmidt
It's a beautiful, historic building. Incredible acoustics for symphony. Sound for Broadway touring musicals is better than it used to be. They really shouldn't book plays though, as the hall is just too big. The top balcony is very steep - I'll only sit there if the tickets are a great deal. I like that they regularly change the artwork in the lobbies.
Mickey Foster
Gammage was very clean, had friendly staff who answered questions and our evening was wonderful. Hamilton was fantastic. We enjoyed every minute! Performers were excellent and so talented! ☺
Amber Kry
I am glad to be back to taking in the arts after the great covid ban on fun. The place was packed and the staff took every precaution to ensure everyone's safety and health. My only gripe is the ban on purses that aren't see through. They used to just go through the bags and that was fine. I don't like that my belongings must be visible to the world.
Jacqueline H
If you have a love for the arts, then this place is a must for Broadway Shows. Broadway Shows can be a bit pricey but worth it to me however recently discovered the Beyond Series which has very reasonably priced tickets for great performances. Check out their schedules online.
Leah Wagner
I love seeing shows here. I just wish they could figure out the sound system. In the balcony it was hard to hear at times.
We bought season tickets for Sunday evenings and will be in the mezzanine so that'll be great. I love the shows they get to come and can't wait to enjoy the next season!
Janet Mcconnell
I watched Hamilton for the first time tonight at Gammage. Tip to others, learn the words to the songs because the sound quality was pretty poor. And those around me are complaining about not being able to hear them or perhaps their annunciation. I think the vast majority of the people there had already seen it and heard it so they knew what was going on.
McKay Olsen
This is a great theater to go to! I went to see wicked with my mom and family friend and I had a blast. The ushers were nice and friendly and the sound in the top balconies was still great! It's an easy place to navigate and eventhough it gets quite crowded, it's still isnt to bad to get past people.
Rick To
Underrated. I couldn't go in as it was closed that day but it is definitely worth visiting
AyJae Sinnall
It was an amazing place!! I was very inspired by the employees helpfulness and kindness and the architecture of the building. I saw Wicked and even though we were literally the farthest seats away, I could see and hear the actors and actresses perfectly! Thank you ASU Gammage for hosting such a memorable night!
Kasim Aslam
Great venue and great shows. We just saw The Book of Mormon there which was hysterical. Relatively easy to get in and out of and adequate parking close by. The concession lines are long but move fast. Can't wait for the next show!
Is-A- Bel
Great place for the Phoenix Youth Symphony Orchestra!
Britt Van
Broadway in AZ need I say more?!
So thankful they didn’t go crazy with covid restrictions for guests. Although I’m not a fan of mandating vax for employees I’m thrilled they didn’t extend that to guests. As a former season ticket holder it was amazing to have stage shows back, full concessions and aside from masks everything felt like normal again!!
Gammage always knows how to treat guests!
KariLee Hertzberg
Building itself is an absolutely gorgeous venue and to see a theatrical production there is pure magic! Great acoustics, great seats, great management! A+ all the way and I came from a town that had access to NYC & Broadway!
Mikayla Noel
I have been to ASU Gammage for multiple shows. The seats are comfortable, the environment is comfortable in temperature, and the staff are always kind.
Luke Bader
They put on some great performances here! Anastasia was FABULOUS!!
Peg Corrigan
Great venue! Fantastic shows all year -- you can't go wrong here.
Ashley Standridge
The theater is beautiful and acoustics seemed amazing but we were in row 6. The layout of the entires is a little odd at first until you remember the odd and even separation. The two larger entrances are for the front rows. The show we went to did have a bar and snacks before and during the show.
John Bailey
Old building, but the facilities are well maintained. I've sat on both the second and third tiers. The seats aren't luxury, but they're good enough for the length of a performance. They might be too hard for someone who gets uncomfortable easily, while sitting, so you might want to bring a cushion. The view is excellent. They did a good job of positioning the rows so your view isn't blocked by the row in front
Ryan
Clean facility. Organized. Sections and seat are clearly marked.
Beers are overpriced, which is to be expected. You’re locked in and can’t get drinks anywhere else.
Clean bathrooms. Friendly staff. Parking sucks....
Otherwise a great venue.
Rooster Clucker
Had an amazing time at Gammage. Professional staff, courteous, and the place was very organized and easy to navigate. Such a cool, unique shape for a theater too!
Mindy C
Not a bad seat in the house. Drinks and snacks are pricey but expected being at a Broadway show. Had no issues parking or getting in. Will go again in the future.
River Wolford
Saw Wicked, it was phenomenal. Excellent theater, not a bad seat in the house, but what more can you expect from a place designed by Frank Lloyd Wright? Beautiful place. Parking is a bit irritating, we parked in the garage because the website said something about a membership to park in the lot or something like that, but when we got to the lot, we found out that not only could we have parked there, it would have been cheaper than the garage because it is flat rate instead of hourly. Small issue though.
Bridgette Medina
Saw Lion King here. Very beautiful auditorium and excellent show!
Julie Polak
Balance issues and disabilities become pronounced when "walking a balance beam" to the regular seats.
Horrible!
Everyone would die if there was a fire. 🔥
Next time, I will use a safer theater.
Cainan Thomas
It's a really awesome place that Frank Lloyd wright constructed .it's old and still nice ..went to a master's diploma graduation there in may 2018...a place to come n visit...
Katelyn Manning
Staff was great. They know what they are doing. And there isn't a bad seat in the house. We went to see Wicked and was fairly far back and to the side and could see and hear the show perfectly. A fantastic place to see a show.
Caleb Gerard
Great place for a Broadway show.
Parking, post-show, was horrible
Joseph Jensen
I'm in a wheelchair so the only complaint I have is the only wheelchair seating is on the floor level in the very front or very back. But the house staff has always been so helpful and even pushed me to my seat when my power chair was out of order and I had to bring my manual wheelchair. The acoustics are excellent. Definitely my favorite place to enjoy a performance.
Douglas Clarke
Professional Broadway tours and other top notch performances!
James A. Gidiyup
Nice very nice night out at the theatre.
However the venue needs updating as it is hard to get into the area. Traffic is very slow so go early or you will be " one of those people" coming in late . And there are no shortcuts to the middle except 45 people to interrupt..
Anna Dehut
I will definitely be returning for more theater productions. My daughter and I drove down from the hill, to see Wicked and it was a pleasure to get to watch this amazing show. The company and the rest of the staff were exceptionally helpful and fantastic performance.
Dawna E
Always a great experience here. Haven't had a bad view of the stage in any seat I've had.
diana hulsey
Parking was easy. The interior is beautiful and the addition of elevators helps those who have problems using stairs. We were in the balcony for this performance and it was perfect. No dodging heads and we could see all the action on the stage. A wondeful experience
Joe Erickson
We went to Gammage to see Hamilton. The show was outstanding. The theater was very nice. We sat in the balcony, 2nd row, but had a terrific view of the stage. Before the show, we parked at the Gammage parking lot and walked 5 minutes up Mill avenue and had dinner. Then a quick stroll back to see the show. Then after the show, back to Mill for Cocktails.
Brandon Marsala
Great venue. Not a bad seat in the house. Parking can be a little tough sometimes.
Two other reasons to love this place:
1. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright
2. They have food for sale that you can bring to your seat (perfect for when your stomach is trying to interrupt the performance)
coupleofbeers31
Saw RENT here last night and had a blast. This is truly a gem of a venue. What amazed me most was how clean it was. It's a blessing to have this venue and these kinds of shows right here in our own back yard. I would say the only thing that I didn't like was the kind of indifferent/stuck up attitude of the young girl at the will call and there was an usher/security guard there, a larger woman, who was very bossy to the point of being rude and annoying. Other than that it was perfect and the rest of the staff was so helpful and friendly.
Brian Philbrook
Nice staff, and the new (to me) interior paint job makes the room feel less sterile. We saw Aladdin and had a great time.
I really liked the surprise of having an after-show presentation with some of the cast. That's great for kids to interact with the artists, and enjoyable for the adults to be able to connect with the performers. I would even recommend including crew in that session, as they can are just as critical, and noble professions for youth to be exposed to.
Josh Oberg
Nice theater lots of clean restrooms. Free cushions/ boosters for the upper area. But views are best from lower level or balcony 1. We saw the bodyguard, great show, have also seen Mama Mia and others here.
Kelly Mulvany
GREAT venue. LOVE seeing. Broadway on a Frank Lloyd Wright building! Drinks are reasonably priced. Great dining a short walk away. Free parking. Only recommendation is that is your seat is Center stage. Get here early or you will be crawling over a lot of people. Aisles are reasonable though. Most seats have a great view!
Denise Hill
This was the first time we had been to ASU Gammage. It is a beautiful theatre and I am sure we will be going there again. We saw the last performance of Aladdin and the cast didn't disappoint! Parking is tricky especially for first time attendees. So make sure you know where you can park ahead of time. That being said, I was a wonderful performance and we are glad we went.
Breanna Leigh
I love seeing plays at Gammage. The auditorium in itself is wonderful. Prices for food and drink are what you would expect for the convenience. My only issue is there is no plans in place for when people are being rude and talking through entire plays. I saw Wicked with my mother recently and the couple next to us we're having a conversation through the entire 3 1/2 hours, even after I asked them to please respect everyone around them. When I spoke with a member of staff during intermission they said there really wasn't anything that they could do and to basically deal with it. It's unfortunate that there are people who actually pay to watch the play and can't get assistance when others are making it hard to hear.
Julie Emmerling
Had a fantastic time seeing Wicked. The staff was friendly and accommodating. I only gave 4 stars because the seats were a little uncomfortable after a few hours. Otherwise a very enjoyable experience.
Adrian Mosley
Very well hosted production. The amenities are great and the staff quite helpful. ASU rocks!
Gena E
Went here to see alladin and was not disappointed. We had balcony seats but I still felt like part of the show. The auditorium was clean and the staff was nice. I also appreciated that their were a lot of stalls in the ladies bathroom, it really minimized the lines
Joseph “Joe” Benedict
Lion king was just right. Location made it a great, much anticipated enjoyment. Bravo.
Debra Wallace
Awesome evening. 2019 play line up is going to be exciting. Professional quality plays and great line up of performers. Handicap accessible with ramps and elevators. Brand new womens bathrooms. Plenty of handicap designated seating. Plan to arrive at least 1 hr ahead of time to get parking somewhere close to facility.
Thomas Thomas
Nice facility, was interested to be inside the only AZ public building designed by Frank Llyod Wright. We saw Wicked, great performance. We will probably not purchase seats in the top balcony again though they are quite cramped and slightly dangerous, as they are so steep with means of support.
Melissa Wilson
We love going to Gammage. The staff are always abundant and helpful, the snacks aren't ridiculously overpriced (just a little overpriced), and the auditorium is lovely. Not a bad seat in the place.q I like that they have so many seating/price options for every show. Sometimes we are in the nosebleeds, but can still see and hear everything.
Rick Fowler
Great venue as long as you don't have vertigo. Since this Frank Loyd Wright-designed theater is vintage, the seats are very small and very close together. The pitch of the upper balcony often has me feeling unsteady despite being in my 30s. The sound, lights, sets, and staff ate always great. Everytime I've been to Gammage, the productions have been very enjoyable. The seats are small. Yes I said that twice, because it's fairly uncomfortable if you're not sitting between two people you know.
Camille James
Designed by Frank Lloyd Wright this distinctive theater had good acoustics and a relatively good seating arrangement. Try to get seats at least a couple of seats in from the end to avoid missing out on some of the incredible sets for the Broadway plays (the closer to the center the better but also keep in mind due to the arch design of the rows the center of the rows are further away from the stage than the end seats). They offer a cash bar with snacks during intermission. Additionally there was plenty of parking even for a virtually sold-out show. Parking was quite reasonable at $10 for the gold lot which is right there with the theater. There's a Lyft drop off and pick up area just outside of the theater's parking lot. They also offer the convenience of quick parking for those coming in to purchase or pick up tickets. Oh and for those wanting to do dinner and a play be sure to check the website for local restaurants that offer discounts and free appetizers the day of your show if you show your ticket.
John Dooling
I have seen many performanes here, always a treat.
Amanda S
It was an mesmerizing experience, my first time here watching Aladdin! It was amazing! The place is nice inside and the chairs are decently comfortable. The staff had smiles. (I appreciate that) My only dislike was the spacing for the food area and souvenir stands. The area is shared with the walk way. I had a difficult time getting through the crowd at intermission. There were crowds of ppl walking, standing, or waiting in a line all around. There wasn’t and regulation on lines or walkways where you can easily get by.
Suzy Spudy
Saw Hamilton. Lot of people there but was not hot or stuffy, was very nice an cool and had wonderful time. Staff were helpful and nice. Lines for vendors were quick. A very enjoyable evening
Toby Deyle
I was in the balcony, acoustics could have been better but to see Rent for $23 I won't complain. The general decor in the waiting areas is pretty dated, and their concessions stands are lacking both in selection and speed.
Ellie eSunflower
This place is huge. First time here to see Wicked with my mom. The entire place looked clean and organized. They provided a bar and we tried a drink called Ruby Slipper. It had vodka and grapefruit. I'd recommend it. The restrooms were huge and clean. The only problem were how uncomfortable those seats are but I would still come back again and sit through any one of their shows!
Monica Davis
Went to see The Lion King Musical. It was Spectacular! A must see Musical!
Heidi Weiss
I like seeing shows at Gammage. The seating is great, we've sat in various areas and no matter where they have been the viewing is good. I prefer paying for parking so we're close to the entrance but I've also parked and walked in and it's not an issue you just need to give yourself enough time.
Frankie O'Neill
Super friendly staff, cool architecture. Sound is better at some shows than others, but still pretty good. Parking can be rough, just get out sharp or hang out for 15 mins and you'll be good though.
Sage F
I think they have same day student tickets!
Danita Macklin
Had some of the best seats in the house center stage orchestra seats.
Lion King!!!🦁🎶🥰 …
Susan Claire Mace
We saw Hamilton here most recently. The staff was all wonderful, as usual. The only disappointment was with the many patrons who wouldn't wear their mandatory masks. Whenever the house lights came up, they all scurried to put them back on, like cockroaches.
Jennifer Wells
Amazing experience. Parking is close by, even without a permit, you do have to walk some. Security was fast. Just allow extra time for traffic to get in and out, which is inevitable. The top balcony is steep and if your are height sensitive it might be a bit much. I love the higher view to really see everything.
James Collazo
Nice theater. I recently saw Miss Saigon and Wicked here.
Barbara Rohr
Been going to ASU Gammage for years, never disappointed.
Hamilton was great!
John Pearson
The acoustics here are not good. Getting to your seat is always a challenge because of design and narrow walkways. The interior needs a makeover. It was designed by Frank Lloyd Wright which is its one redeeming value.
Robin Stevens
Great show. But the isles were way to small up top. Seats were hard with no elbow room! Very warm! No air it felt like. The guides directed us in the wrong area TWICE. Sad for the price you pay n when you have to even PAY to PARK! Very disappointing to say the least.
bernie az
Good location in tempe,az. Parking was ample. But, the seats were hard and uncomfortable. The play was good.
Kyle Gardner
I love the productions that I have been able to see here without traveling to New York. The staff is always friendly. The bathroom renovations are very nice. The one downside I would say is that a few of the shows I have been to it has been hard to hear. Some shows are better than others.
Dave Gon
Took the Girl Scouts Troops 1682 / 1684 to go see The Lion King great production.
Matthew Maronay
Love this place. Have seen some amazing shows here. Parking is a pain so show up early. They serve adult beverages but also allow you to bring in water which is nice!. Seats are very comfortable and provide lots of leg rooms. Would definitely recommend to anyone!
Daphanne Peters
Went to see Alton Brown. Fantastic experience!
All About the Florida Keys.
Great auditorium! Isles are wider than most for walking by people to get to your seats. I was on the second row of the lower balcony, about 15 or so seats in towards the middle. It was a great seat, especially for a balcony seat. Go 30 min early to anticipate a traffic back up getting to the Apache Blvd parking structure/garage just before a performance. Once in though, parking isn't too difficult. Costs $12.00. A short 7-10 min walk to auditorium.
Michelle Alvillar
Great staff that were helpful and kind. Amazing shows and performances.
Bryan O'Neal
What can you say, it is a giant Frank Lloyd Wright wedding cake of a building! The technical theater aspects are awesome, save the distance between changing rooms and stage forcing costume changes just off stage and a lot of running around blind corners. However, as a guest you will never notice these design shortcomings. You may notice a lack of men's bathrooms on the ground floor on your first visit however. The signage is a bit misleading. Fortunately lost of helpful staff will be there to directly you.
It is and, beautiful, and historic theater; one of the best in a Valley of millions of people.
I highly recommend attending productions here.
August Miller
We really enjoyed ourselves here. We saw The Lion King Broadway, and it all was amazing.
Kevin Kanter
Great way to get back to the theater!! Hamilton was so enjoyable with the new cast. So good to see them in fine voice!!
Liz Dreckman
Love this venue. Fantastic musicals and performances. Nearly all are sold out. Wine and specialty cocktails, snacks, desserts, coffee served at intermissions and before the shows. Newly renovated restrooms. Wheelchair accessible. Parking is rather difficult.
Zoe J
Nice theatre. Enjoyed the play Hamilton. Ticket prices were better than other places. Parking location was a bit confusing although I was able to pay for, download and print online prior to arrival. Name of building didn't match ticket & no posting on structure. Ticket was on cell phone & they just scanned it👌👍 …
Brendan Snowball
I am a theatre fan and the "off-broadway" shows that come through are always fantastic. I have seen many shows here and I have season tickets. The reason that it gets 4 stars is the acoustics. Frank Lloyd Wright was a genius at designing buildings but has no clue on theatrical sound. I am being nit picky but when compared to similarly size theatres in other cities the sound is lackluster.
Ellen Wilson
We saw the musical Fun Home here tonight. The play and the cast were exceptional, we were helped with audio assisted devices, and the upgrades to ASU Gammage are evident-LOVE the huge women's bathrooms. As season ticket holders, we're looking forward to the other seven plays in the season. Arrive early as parking can be challenging.
Benjamin Brainstem
Beautiful theater with hard to find bathrooms. The architecture and interior is very grand for a campus theater. Wheelchair friendly ramps abound. Why was it so hard for me to find a restroom. It seemed like I had to walk 100 yards to get to one. Oh well.
Ajit Mali
Extremely good place to visit with family and enjoy some spectacular shows
Kelly H
My husband and I are just leaving ASU Gammage after seeing Aladdin, The Musical, and this show was SPECTACULAR!!!! Visually, I was blown away with the staging and props! And the talent of the crew is the phenomenal! ASU Gammage was the perfect venue for this program! 5 stars, guys! Great job! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Julie Grecu
We love ASU gammage. The staff are always so kind and helpful. Great for any type of family experience!
543 Yld
Went to the Hamilton show, was a great performance. Drinks and snacks are sold in the lobby but no small tables or area to enjoy purchases.
Melinda Dill
Saw the musical Waitress. We had seats in the center orchestra. Enjoyed it but the sound wasn't great. I think Gammage needs an update. Though bathrooms were nice and plentiful, parking is a challenge.
Kort G
Great original theater designed by the iconic Frank Lloyd Wright this theater is a must attend for Broadway touring shows. Just don't see anything that requires the in house sound system such as ASU graduations, the system is awful. With a few updates, this theater will remain a beautiful staple in Arizona historical venues.
c g
Great production of Aladdin! The genie stole the show
Alexandra Williams
I heard that Arthur a live adventure lucky pencil Preformed here in March though April in 2000!
I love it
Sandra Parkes
Tim Allen was absolutely great but the lighting wasn't that great.
We couldn't see his face.
So maybe you guys want to fix that ..
Other then that it was great
Jennifer Hammoudi
If you're disabled make sure you get seats that you don't have to climb stairs too. They don't even have railings to hold on to until you're half way up them. Getting into the theater is perfect, it's just getting to your seat.
Valerie Richards
We love Gammage, we have had season tickets for over ten years. It is a wonderful place to see a Broadway show. The aisles are roomy, much larger than NYC theaters so you have lots of room for your legs. They offer food and beverage as well as specialty cocktails for each show. My only complaint as an avid show goer is that they do not give out Playbills. They have their own version called a Gambill, which is why they lost a star on my review.
Gaby R
What can I say? I'm a biased reviewer with good memories of working as an usher through my student career at ASU. The acoustics are damn decent, the seats cush, and the aisles wide with gentle staircases and ramps throughout. My only complaint is the facilities are not terribly friendly if you're on crutches or in a wheelchair (or have a brace or cane)...stairs are gentle but there are plenty of them. The architecture, of course, is renowned as a Frank Lloyd Wright creation but it's still, from the outside, the "wedding cake."
All in all, a genteel and civilized experience from another era that shouldn't be missed.
Christa Baca
The upper balcony seats are not for the faint at heart. If you are prone to nosebleeds, fear heights or have high anxiety i recommend paying extra for lower level seats. Overall it is a gorgeous venue and even from the 2nd top from the view of the stage was perfect. I can't wait to go back
Tori Forte
ASU Gammage is a beautiful, delightful venue. I appreciate that they bring in current top shows frequently, but also make sure to include lesser known standouts every season. Most seats are great. Can be a little difficult to navigate, but there are ushers everywhere and they are always kind, knowledgeable, and helpful.
Nancy Damone
Wonderful venue top notch in cleanliness and atmosphere. Very nice staff. Acoustics were great we went to see the show the School of Rock. (Wonderful show by the way.) Highly recommend this venue if you're looking for a top-notch experience.
Grant Anderson
Always a great venue for a show. I've seen several plays and was just there for a Warren Miller movie. Love to admire the architecture, and despite the bathrooms being inconveniently located, the crowd movement isn't bad. Looks like they're doing some renovations now, so I'll look forward to seeing that when they're done.
Amy Tryon
Gammage is a great facility. The stage can be seen from the ground level as well as the balcony. I've never had a really bad seat for a show at Gammage. They offer quality shows. Parking is additional cost, or at least it was for our most recent show. It's a little congested frying to get into the parking and sometimes in the hallways before doors open but other wise it's great. They have places to buy drinks and souvenirs inside.
Aimee Gionson
Would give 5 stars but had 2 issues.
Parking is crazy. Please have more people directing traffic.
The second is the leaving the theater during the performance...and not letting you in. They made me go around, after me telling them I have trouble going up the stairs, and directing me to a wrong door. The rest was good but now I will hesitate going back.
Jeffrey “JP” Joyce
Have had the pleasure of attending shows on a regular basis in this iconic piece of architecture. The state and university have been diligently updating to make any visit even better.
If you haven't gone to a show you should check out the season's shows.
Frankie
Google keeps telling me to update my review and asking me if Gammage changed. It hasn't. Hooray.
Pamme Salter
Went to see Wicked. We sat in the tier section row 8 center. It was too far away. The sound was sketchy and we could not get all of the words. We will pony up the extra money and get floor seats next time. Even the side seats would have been better if they were closer.
Joy Bowley
Gammage is big enough to attract BIG shows but small enough to not feel like you are just a drop in the ocean. I am personally not a fan of the balconies. If you have a fear of heights the balconies (especially the top one) may not be the best seats for you, unless you have someone or thing to hang on to that makes you feel safe. Otherwise I have not had a bad experience here.
Stephen Wynkoop
Wonderful venue, have learned that if you're there for an acoustic event (Broadway show, for example) the main floor is the place to be. Sound on the mezzanines is less than perfect and in the top mezzanine can be distracting and even difficult to follow. Facilities are plentiful, lobbies well managed. Seats are comfortable as well.
Marye Friedman
Great play,enjoyed myself emensely.
Errol Ormond
The play was very well done and very professional. We enjoyed the whole experience. The facility was outstanding.
Pamela Ehret
Wonderful. Everything is updated. Added an elevator and additional womens rest rooms. No lines at the rest room! Loved tge show On Your Feet the sound system is updated. I could hear and understand tge dialogue. Gammage has a bar on orchestra and grand tier levels. There was a sold out crowd so buy your tickets early. If there isn't any parking around the theatre than you can park at two parking garages near by.
Will Mourer
An incredible performance venue!! So well maintained for it's age. Every seat in the place is a good seat. Acoustics are great. Always enjoy going here.
Geoff Elledge
Architecturally speaking it's Frank Lloyd wright so you have to love the building. The girls in our group were happy with the added bathrooms. I've been to several productions here and it's always the same. I don't know why they can't get a decent sound system but it just isn't good. soloist were good, speaking lines are fine, but anytime there was a large group ensemble it is just mumbled junk. you can only understand maybe 50% of the lyrics in those scenes. It's sad that's the only real place for Broadway shows in town for the road tours. my friends that are really into Broadway shows refuse to go there since they've been to good places where you can understand everything and the acoustics are what they should be.
