My wife and I went to see Rent. A tone deaf play about two middle class white guys refusing to pay rent, while dimly masquerading as a fighter for the aids crisis and gentrification (mostly against African American folks). Most problems in the play could be solved with a simple phone call from mom. The play was great and groundbreaking 40 years ago, but just fails to be relatable, after fighting through 2 financial collapses and a global pandemic. My current struggles are worse than the two main characters. I don’t want to listen to a 3 hour play of them whining about it. The actors are great not their fault, we were packed in like sardines in uncomfortable chairs, but at least alcohol is only 4 dollars.

Fantastic experience! Loved watching A Christmas Carol! Well definitely go back! They had a drink called Scrooge's Nightmare that was pretty good too.

We had an amazing time and the staff was over the top for my cousin anf her family. They delt with the emotions of the family and they even accommodated when her body was to tired but still wanted to rock out to Today and Yesterday. If you haven't seen the Beatles Experience I highly reccomend seeing these amazing artists.

My mom and I went here tonight for the preview of School of Rock. It was phenomenal! So much talent and just so much fun! The bathrooms could be just a tad bit more spacious but I doubt that will change. It was a great time though and seriously so much talent in that production!

Very talented cast. Not a single actor that wasn't top tier vocalist and actor. Saw "The Color Purple". Nice bathrooms, easy access without a lot of stairs. Comfortable seats. Not huge venue so any seat is a good seat. Served alcoholic drinks during intermission and before show for those who are interested.

We have been to Annie and Murder on the Orient Express here. My son, 10, and I really enjoyed them both. Great acting, scenery, sound and just overall a lifelong memorable experience. Thank you for all the time and thought put into these productions.

Fantastic theater, not a bad seat anywhere in it. Very helpful staff, good beverages for before & at intermission. Tickets are very reasonable, we saw Murder on the Orient Express for $35 each, and these were the most expensive seats offered on a Saturday night performance.

Went to see "A Christmas Carol". It was a wonderful experience for our whole family. The cast was great and so was the band! The stage was beautifully decorated with great detail. They serve beverages & cookies during intermission and the cast lines up to greet you at the end. Jerry Longe is "Scrooge" and a fine one at that! Thank you for the great show!!!

We saw She Kills Monsters and it was absolutely fantastic. The Howard Drew Theatre was very nice and intimate. The stage was amazing. The lighting and sound we're perfect. The cast was extremely talented. I can't wait to get back to see another production!

We've been here for several productions over the last few years and this is a fantastic venue to see a show. Intimate seating in relation to the stage and a great sounding room combined with the depth of talent behind the stage as well as upon it gives an immersive experience that I greatly appreciate. Always a great production can be seen. We just saw Beauty and the Beast here Saturday night. It was great! Costumes were fantastic. The singing by the actors was superb. We have attended numerous plays here, and we have never been dissatisfied.

Fun night out! I had never been here. Last weekend we saw "The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" in the smaller theater. We were basically on set! The actors did a fantastic job, every worker we came in contact with was incredibly friendly. We will definitely be attending more plays in the future here!

They produce wonderful community theater year after year. The stages are wonderful. The community supports the theater with attendance, volunteering, and donations. I cannot think of a better community playhouse without sending you more than 6 hours away.

The atmosphere was so welcoming. The play was superbly performed and the costumes were fantastic. My favorite part, is how the actors greet and take pictures in the lobby, with/for the audience, after the show. Excellent for adults, and families, alike.

Great talent, beautiful venue! We see Beauty and the Beast while in town and or was spectacular. The sets and costumes were professional and the actors were equally amazing. Parking was also plentiful and free!

We enjoy the live theater and we go every couple months. We take our girls (age 4 and 6) to the family shows! They have booster seats for them so they can see. During the intermission they have drinks and cookies available for purchase. We purchase the community playhouse membership every year to get cheaper tickets for all the shows! Definitely would recommend for all ages!

Nice venue, really enjoyed the show I attended. I believe this is one of the largest community playhouses in the country. I do wish there was more of a "decline" between rows, it would vastly improve the viewing experience.

Nation's largest community theater. Good shows. Great shows. Some I'm not so sure about. But the cast and crew are almost invariably excellent.And the effort is never lacking. Amazing local talent and some imported. The essence of what a community theater should be.

They have a very talented core group of performers, continuous new faces, and great techies (disclosure: I used to be a techie back in school). Tickets are a bit expensive for community theater (approx $40) but there are usually deals or coupons available if you look around.

While not every play here appeals to me, which has no more bearing on the establishment than a crappy movie does on the movie theatre, I love going here! The staff is great and always helpful, and they seem to have a knack for getting top-notch talent (as was evidenced in "Ripcord" last night) on their stages. I fully intend to become a season ticket holder.

What can I say about one of the best community Playhouses in the country? Quality shows. Community acting that astounds me every time. SOOOO much more than just the annual showing of A Christmas Carol. Things to make you think In the black box. More family related shows on the mainstage. And you want a hint? Go often enough, just buy the season tickets! Best deal in town for 10 shows. It's totally worth it!

WONDERFUL and OUTSTANDING!!!! Being new to Omaha last nights Of Mice and Men was my first Omaha Community Playhouse performance and I was astounded. Other patrons struck conversations with me making me fell welcome. This is obviously a tight community that operates as a family and I was brought into the fold my first time. Of Mice and Men has been one of my favorite novels since childhood. This performance had me engaged from beginning to end. In my novice opinion Candy's portrayal was astounding and maybe cinematic quality. Certainly as good as Walstons portrayal. I've always been in love with Malchovic's portrayal of Lenny. Last nights portrayal was amazing and caused me to rethink my interpretation. The laughing Lenny caught me off guard, but it worked and I liked it. Altogether a wonderful welcoming and thought provoking experience. Hopefully I can get my schedule settled down b.c. and begin volunteering in the near future. What a wonderful Omaha asset.

Great community theater. The main theater is a great size and seating in this theater gives you plenty of room so you aren't uncomfortable during the show. They have a great variety of shows throughout the year. Great place to take your family.

Of Mice and Men First time coming out. Reccomend going in box office to buy tix. I was able to choose seats and date. Reccomend eating before for the snacks and drinks are nicely priced. Of Mice and Men acting and stagehands were outstanding and worked quickly! The Playhouse puts on high quality shows! Would definitely see a show again.

OCP is probably the best live performance theatre in the region! We just saw Beauty and the Beast and it rivaled anything that comes in in Off-Broadway touring shows. Their production of A Christmas Carol is nationally known.

Love the alternative program readers' theater offerings! I prefer plays on the Hawkes stage to plays on the main stage, which cater more to middle-America. The Playhouse is a fabulous facility, and a vital community asset.

How many times have you heard "There is nothing to do in Omaha"? Obviously anyone who says that is not familiar with OCP. OCP offers a great variety of productions in two theaters. I usually prefer the Howard Drew Theater because of it's size and the opportunity for audience participation. I have also enjoyed many wonderful productions on the Hawk's Main Stage. Whatever you attend it will be entertaining and well performed. Volunteers are friendly and ready to assist you from the time they greet you by opening the door until you walk back out. It is not a venue just for seniors either. Throughout the season there will be shows for all ages. It is a wonderful, affordable night out.

There's a reason that the Omaha Community Playhouse is considered by many to be the best community theater in the country. It's a beautiful facility, they do a great schedule of shows each year, and every performance is excellent. I saw Spamalot on the Broadway tour, and I was a little hesitant to see an OCP performance of it. How would it match up to a Broadway show? I have to admit, I was worried for nothing. I was incredibly impressed, and the OCP show was actually almost as good as the Broadway!

The Omaha Community Playhouse is always showing fun programs. Not all shows are appropriate for the whole family, but many are. By far our family favorite is The Christmas Carol that shows every Christmas season. Unlike the Orpheum where the seats can be quite a tight squeeze, the theaters here usually have seats large enough to make people comfortable. The theaters are smaller and therefore there really isn't any poor seating. You will be able to see the show from wherever you sit.
