Never had heard of this place before but I saw James Hunter (outstanding soul singer/guitar player) there on September 23. It's extremely small, so every seat is a good seat. Very intimate theater. I think it used to be a movie theater and they turned it into a concert venue. The sound is pretty good but again, you're so close to the artist that it's unbelievable. Parking is free, too, which is a plus. The lobby is huge, so the artist can come out can come out and sell CD's and albums while signing autographs without the lobby feeling too crowded. Will definitely be back!

This being my first time visiting SOPAC, i was blown away by how nice it was. I was pleased with the amenities available on premises. We'd visited to see Laugh's in the Loft by Joe Larson and the Loft was amazing. From the great small tables, the stage, and the bar! All top notch! Complete enjoyment and good laughs all around! Can't wait to go back next month!!!

Nice venue, great acoustics. Free parking in NJ transit lot, steps from the site. Saw Josh Ritter on his acoustic tour, great price for 2 hours of magic. We'll definitely be back to support this awesome place to see music.

This is my favorite concert hall probably anywhere. It is small and intimate with not a bad seat in the house. Most tickets for shows are usually reasonably priced.

I went to see a musical there but they also have concerts. Comfortable seating in a space that also has a movie theater so there is a concession stand for pre theatre or intermission. I'd never been there before but very easy commute from NYC right off the train station. Cute town with nice restaurants as well.

Clean, state of the art performing arts center connected with a movie theater. The are two levels of seating and all have a good view of the stage without any obstructions. The sound quality was perfect as well. It was extremely busy when we were there and parking our car was very difficult. We found a parking spot on a street a few blocks away and then walked to it. If you are able to take the commuter train, I'd highly recommend it as the station is right outside of the center.

I attended the Agatha Christie play and could barely hear a word from the stage. Same with my friends. It was as though the audio was not turned on. And we sat in row G. You could only hear the actors if they shouted.

Bargain price to watch movies but know that theatre is not the latest the greatest in updates so dont expect large adjustable seats with huge screens. But at 8 bucks, hard to beat the price!

Visited the theater to see a short film by A.Diamond productions. The theater was clean and well kept. The staff were also extremely courteous. The short film was amazing and the venue suited the crowd well.

The DakhaBrakha performance was stellar. They are an amazing band and the show was incredible. The venue leaves a little to be desired. There should be a parking lot dedicated just to SOPAC. You're fighting with all the crowds for parking: the dinner crowd, the theater crowd, people just picking up food, the movie crowd. The theater's COVID policy, while admirable, should be plainly noted in large signs on the outside of the theater. Additionally, when you buy virtual tickets at other venues, they will send a pre-show email stating what their policy is. Not SOPAC. We didn't know we had to show vaccine cards. We had to go back home to get them. Evidently, many patrons didn't know this either because many people didn't bring their cards. Lastly, we had to show IDs, tickets, and vaxx cards at the door, but the theater saw fit to only employ one person to check all this, causing a very long and slow line. As a result, many people missed the first two songs and were coming in late throughout the show. I think if SOPAC had simply added another person to help with this backlog, so many people wouldn't have been so late, disrupting the show.

I attended St. James AME Sunday Morning Worship. I love coming here since I live in South Orange, N.J. I was a bit disappointed when we couldn't meet in person during Covid 19. I'm glad in person is Back.

I saw Bob Mould at SOPAC with a group of friends and found the acoustics and sight lines in the venue to be perfect for the solo acoustic show. The strange thing about the venue is that it’s also a movie theater, though the movie theater is not where they have the performances. They offer movie theater type food like popcorn and candy, but you can’t actually bring it into the theater venue. It’s a little strange, but it works. Inside the theater the lighting and the sound is excellent. I had no issues hearing the singer and didn’t leave with a ringing in my ear, even though I forgot my earplugs. Did I mention that the place is tiny? There is a lower level that has old fashion movie style seating and then a mezzanine that has stadium seating. The only really bad part is that the seats appear to of been made for people about 5 foot tall. I am 6 foot and my friends are about 5‘8“ and all of us felt incredibly cramped in the seats. I was in the mezzanine and my knees clearly jutted out around the head of the person sitting in front of me and it was really awkward. Other than that, the show was fun and affordable and I would definitely go back again.

This is a truly wonderful theatre/concert experience. Small enough to feel at home yet large enough to get some great entertainment. Very affordable and becoming a member gets you early reservations. While your enjoying the show, have a soda, water or glass of wine. (Refills are a great bargain!) Great entertainers..jazz, folk, classical and pop! Everyone can find a great show. Great restaurants nearby before the show too!

SOPAC is a wonderful live performance arts center. The sound and acoustics overall are great. It's an intimate setting, the seats are roomy, comfortable and sight lines to the stage are pretty much great from all seats. The shows are top notch and I wish we have even better acts at times. Getting in and out is pretty easy as parking is available in the South Orange NJ Transit station. All in all a very nice place to enjoy a night out on the town as there are a number of local bars and restaurant nearby within walking distance.

The on-stage acoustics are wonderful at this performing arts center. Their in-house crew and staff are excellent, very professional and expertly helpful to visiting performers. I look forward to performing here again soon. Parking though can be tricky here before 5PM. There are decent restaurant options in walking distance nearby.

Great venue and good assortment of nearby restaurants for dinner. Been there many times. Not a bad seat in the house. They also have more intimate shows in the loft. Look on their web page for parking info. Or come by NJ transit train -- adjacent to the station.

We have come to SOPAC for two excellent plays this year: Good Farmer in February and last June, Small Town Story – A New Musical. They were some of the best theater we’ve seen. We had great seats because we went with friends who are members (so they get a discount). It was sad because so many of the seats were empty. Parking is simple and close (Sunday afternoon anyway).

This is a nice venue, with clear acoustics, clean and good parking, but be aware that the additional fees could significantly increase your ticket price. Previously, fees for paying by credit card were only applied if purchased online. Now they apply if purchased in person at the box office as well. Also, the facility fee which was previously $1 has increased to $3. So, for example, the minimum one could pay for a $60 ticket would be $63, if paid in cash. If paid by credit card, it would be $69.

I came here on May 1st 2018 to see the Seton Hall University Choir and it was the best choir performance that I have ever seen and heard in my entire life! They even decided to play the piano and the tickets were free! What could be better than that!?! The theater itself has very nice paintings, a nice carpet and the elevator is fancy! It also has glowing gas lamps on the side of the theatre next to Bunny’s restaurant. Everyone from all over the world should come and attend one of the events here!

Great, intimate performance space. I attended two evenings of dance and appreciated the sound, the lights and the layout. There are literally no bad seats in the theater. SOPAC is offering a great program (Mary Chapin Carpenter is coming up.) I would highly recommend it.

Wonderful intimate venue and tickets reasonable. Parking was easy and free when i was there in September. When you walk in there is a nice area to get a drink and hangout. Seats were comfortable. I would love to go here again.

This is a very nice theater on the inside, and parking is free for events. It also located at a NJ Transit train station making access a breeze. There are several local places to grab dinner before or after your show. I went to The Gas Light Brewery And Restaurant. My meal was excellent.

Great cozy venue, easy to get too by road or train, with usually free parking and abundant culinary opportunities within walking distance both before and after the show. I'll be back. So far, this is my favorite PAC. I've been to others in Middlesex, Union, and Bergen Counties. While they're all GOOD, this one easily tops the list for those reasons alone. The staff was professional and courteous. South Orange has a gem of a downtown too!

The parking at this venue leaves much to be desired so arrive early or you'll be late getting into your seats. The acoustics are get and there are no bad seats in the place. They do start on time so don't be late! Just Sayin!

SOPAC combines a movie theater with a performing arts venue. We went to the movies and enjoyed the cleanliness of the the theater and the whole facility's proximity to the diverse places to eat in South Orange Village. Afternoon parking is challenging due to the railroad station being near the complex. Come early to find a spot in one of South Orange's many not free parking lots.

SOPAC convenient venue. It's easily accessible via car or public transportation. SOPAC is directly downstairs from the NJT train station with direct access to and from NYC. SOPAC is a multi entertainment center that houses an art gallery, movie theater and conference rooms/spaces for galas and a host of other events. I've had the opportunity to attend shows, fundraising events and movies at SOPAC and all of my experiences have been favorable. The center is also surrounded by great restaurants and boutiques and seamless access to parking.

Nice medium-sized cinema and performing arts center. The parking regulations in the lot behind SOPAC are a little confusing, though, so if recommend parking on-street or in the lot on the other side of SO station.

I like this place. It's an intimate venue and a chance to see some great acts. They just recently updated the stage. Seating was very comfortable. Would have been nice if they let me bring my drink inside but other than that I really enjoyed the experience. Plenty of municipal free parking (at night). There are also restaurants near for a dinner and a show Got to see Lucky Chops up close too. Highly recommend seeing a show here
