Today was my first time at New York City Center to see The Dance Theatre of Harlem. When we arrived, a female DJ played several Stevie Wonder songs before the performance began. People from every age & hue were there. Some danced to the music and others grabbed their seats. The performance was awesome. I would love to see another performance at this venue.

This place is astonishing. The stage as well as the ceiling are stylized with hints of Arabic architecture with blue and gold highlights. The balconies are really steep which allow having very good view of the foreground of the stage from wherever you might be in the audience. The problem comes when there’s something happening towards the back of the stage, in which situation you’ll need to be dead center to see anything. Sound is great if you can get first and second floor seats in the center; if not, sound is pretty whatever. Seats are really affordable and come in various prices. If you are visiting the city and with to see a dance show in a budget, make sure to stop here. Also, the shows curated for this venue are great so keep an eye out for which titles they’ll be presenting.

Pros: Beautiful theater! Well kept! Ample leg space even up in the balcony! Loved seeing the pit orchestra on stage!
Cons: Food and drink not allowed at your seat. There is a bar but drinks have to stay out at the bar. One particular employee was very rude on multiple occasions to guests waiting for the bathroom at intermission (not a make or break moment but still worth mentioning)

I saw the Alvin Ailey dance company! The theater staff is so well organized and efficient at directing people to their seats. It's a beautiful venue with elaborate ceiling designs and quality performances. I will be back in 2023 to see Natalia Osipova!

As a Torontonian I was not prepared in 2009 to love NYC the way I did as soon as I arrived. I have been multiple times since and I cannot get enough. I love this city and it's architecture. Every time I leave a little piece of me stays behind.

Terrific! I love this theatre and I try to visit and watch a show every time I come to New York. Service is excellent, performances are really good and starting on time. I recommend you to check out the calendar when you're coming.

TAKE IN THE ARCHITECTURE!
You completely forget that there are theatres this massive hidden behind its modern facade. You are swept into an Arabian or Moroccan feast for the eyes with tile and painted details from floor to vaulted ceilings.

The performance was so full of color and movement. Customer service was excellent. Everything was clean and I felt safe. Had a great experience and I suggest you catch a show especially if you've never been to Alvin Ailey before.

What do I say about New York City!!! Its a world on its own and it's AWESOME!!! Few things I do in every visit - A day at Central Park, walk across Brooklyn bridge, Grand central station, Serendipity for a chocolate drink, Times Square, and Pizza at Grimaldi's. It's my Soul city and I can't wait to live there someday.

Saw the annual holiday production of Alvin Ailey. Great as always. The center is a great reminder of theaters from back in the day upgraded with current technology. Seats were comfortable, all areas were immaculate, including the restroom. My only complaint was the demand to wear masks, when it has been relaxed in other venues. Staff was courteous and helpful. Looking forward to coming back to see another show.
