Absolutely beautiful!! Been twice. Once to see The Color Purple on Broadway a couple of years ago and again a few weeks ago to see The Lion King on Broadway. The theater is beautiful. If I had a wish, I would wish there were more snack and food options. Other than that, the theater is great.

I visit New Orleans every year for the Serious Business Conference, this is always held in the Saenger Theater, this Theater is so different from the normal sterile Hotel conference rooms that many conferences are held, it has so much charisma, from the moment you arrive there are many free water and coffee bars, and amazing hospitality. If you are looking for a place to hold a conference I suggest taking a close look at the Saenger Theatre, not only is this an amazing venue but it’s also in the Middle of New Orleans with so many fun places to visit and world famous restaurant.

Always a great time at the Saenger! Saw Lion King touring and the place was beautiful and classic! Recommend using the restroom before hand. At intermission, you may not make it back in time. Women’s restrooms are small and the line is long!!!

The light effects, architecture and layout of the theater are stunning. The sound effects roll out from every corner and it feels like you’re outside at night because the high ceilings are doused in purples and blues.
Janelle Williams
Theatre was beautiful! It was amazing to watch Hamilton here at this theatre 10/10 would recommend. Appreciated the exits on all sides of the theatre for easy exit after the play was over.

I've been to plenty of Sangaer Shows from Plays to Concerts to Comedies. The seats are comfortable. A draw back is getting stuck behind some tall person. It's so convient for me bc I work at NOAC and just have to walk across the street. The drinks are more than what I'm willing to spend, so I pregame at NOAC.

This place is amazing! I went there to watch the Lion King play, and I was stunned and amazed by the props, acting, and more!! This theatre really entertained me and more other people!! I would definitely come back here soon! The stars in the roof are beautiful too! Was quite amazed by it when I entered to be honest 💗 …

This was our first time coming to the Saenger, and it was truly magical. It's in a beautiful historical building with so many architectural things to be amazed by. The show we saw was phenomenal, and was only made better by the acoustics and atmosphere. The bar/snacks were a bit on the limited side, but you could find some sort of option between the cocktails, beer, and munchy snack (think trail mix, gummy bears, M&Ms). The staff were really kind and friendly and helpful. There was a merchandise booth (that gets extremely busy) was overall fast moving. You do need to have some sort of urgency though with the amount of people behind you. I recommend coming early before the show and looking at the merch because most people will buy after the show. And there really isn't time in the 15 minute intermission. The Saenger takes both cash and card.
Lastly the bathroom. Go beforehand because it's a nightmare to go during intermission. There are only 3 stalls upstairs, and the line is intense and you'll only have 15 minutes to get back to your seat. Downstairs does have plenty more stalls so it is easier to use the downstairs bathroom.
Overall loved my experience, and I would recommend a good show to anyone!

Great intimate style venue. Saw Shinedown there and it was a great show. There isn't a bad seat in the place. Lots of bars for drinks so you are not waiting in line all night. We traveled from RI for the show and were impressed with the venue, especially since hurricane Ida rolled through here a month ago. Staff was very friendly as they are everywhere down here.
Jasmin Johnson
The Saenger theater is always a treat. It's a work of art in and of itself. The staff is always pleasant and professional. The theater is always clean, including the bathrooms. The theater has yet to disappoint, and I look forward to it staying that way.
Kristen Huff
We went to see Amy Schumer put on a great show! We were not disappointed!! They do lock up your phones before the show so be prepared - this also creates a HUGE mess for seating as they give you a post-it with your seat information which of course half the guests seem to lose. Once the show started people were still wandering around trying to find their seats which was very annoying to guests that were already seated in the correct seats.
Andrew Mounier
Watched HadesTown at the beautiful Saenger Theatre. Besides the show being fantastic the Saenger is an extremely beautiful theatre.
It reminded me of the Majestic Theatre in San Antonio.
Highly recommend checking out a show here.
Jay The Realtor
We went to see Chris Rock put on a great show! Was not disappointed and will definitely come again! They do lock up your phone before the show so be prepared.
Tiffany Dunn
Absolutely the most beautiful place! It's just gorgeous! THE CEILING TWINKLES LIKE STARS!
Myra Hernandez
Beautiful venue. Tina Turner Musical was amazing.
Reasonably priced and drinks were tasty.
Close enough to walk over to Bourbon st. or Canal st.
Luna B.
The theatre is beautiful and the staff are very helpful. The Lion King was a great show!
Note: Eat before you attend a show. While drinks are easily available, good snacks are not.
Also, there are not enough restrooms for sold-out shows. So, be prepared for long lines.
If you're a short person, get a balcony club seat instead of the stage(ground floor). The veiw is much better.
Cassandra Brown
The architecture is indescribable. If you have the opportunity to atten ANYTHING at the Saenger Theatre, DO IT!
Icary Sadaiappen
I love the theater is beautiful however i have attended 3 separate shows with my 8year old and although the staff is very courteous there is no snacks for kids. The things available are adult friendly. Plenty of alcohol. candy isthe only option for kids. Every parent knows that's not suitable if a kid needs to sit still. The last show i even brought my own salty snack for my kid to eat during recess but they made me throw away

Went to see The Lion King with my sistaz!
Very intimate setting. The floor seats were amazing. The Lion King was awesome. The costumes were magnificent and the music was to die for. The child actors impressed me beyond belief. Go see The Lion King it is well worth the money.

I love the Saenger. The seating is great. You can see from just about every seat in the place (avoid the very front corners). It's very easy to get in and out of the venue and I've enjoyed everything I've gone there to see.
David Diamond
We visit new Orleans to see shows here every now and then. It's always a wonderful experience. The theatre is truly one of the most beautiful you'll visit. Really enhances any show you see here.
Anisor Fernandez
The Theater was amazing and so was the performance 👏 No questioning that. We parked in the lot directly next to the theater and our vehicle was broken into. The entire back glass was smashed in, all in a matter of 2hrs of being there. Stayed there for an hour cleaning out glass from my children's carseats. I won't be back until a more secure area can be provided for their patrons. Only complaint against the theater itself would be the Concession. I wish it offered more.
B Dub
Been seeing different shows here for years. I follow the theater via emails to get pre-access to popular shows ticket sales . Seen Hamilton twice, took my kids the second time and they were amazed with the show and the theater itself. Recently saw The Lion King with my kids. Next up, The Grinch Who Stole Christmas.
Rachel Moss
The most interesting and gorgeous theatre I've ever been to! The lobby areas are classically designed and beautiful, but the theatre itself is so unique. Obsessed with the twinkly ceiling.
Kirkanthony “kirbear”
The decor was a bit over the top. The seat cushions could use some rehab. It was uncomfortable the entire show.
Sound system was great, also balcony seats were very nice
Michael Knackerson
Saw Lion King, great production. No nits on the venue.
Perry Churgin
Saw the amazing broadway shoe SIX here, it didn't dissapoint. The theater was easy access, not the best directions to seating but I found my place. Although I was all the way in the back I still had a great time. Brilliat show
Jennifer Ferguson
Easy to locate. Site specific parking was closed but multiple options for parking close. Getting through security was quick. Ladies restroom only has 3 stalls. Seats are tight. Venue is pretty.
Conrad C Hanafee
Very nice, classic venue. Sound was perfect. This was tribute to the Last Waltz. Jamey Johnson, Grace Potter, Don Was, Neville brothers.
Bill Wheeler
I was in town on business, brought my wife and scored some great seats for The Lion King. We had a great time. The architecture is beautiful!
Aleksei Moniz Mirov
Gorgeous early 20th century theatre, absolutely a treat. Staff are friendly and the disabled seating was amazing for going to see the Nutcracker. I can't wait to go back next year!
Stephen Shecora IV
This theater is gorgeous but they need to hire staff that's attentive and nicer. Also, they need to notify people when intermission is beginning and ending. They didn't and just starting the show.
Karen Payne
It's A Beautiful Theater👍🏾 But If You Payed Good Money To See The Show . The Entertainers Shouldn't Tell The Audience To Stand ‼️ Because there's a lot of people that can't stand and they want to see the show . So people wouldn't be just stand in front of you if the entertainers wouldn't tell them to stand up. It's not fair to everyone who payed to be entertained . Some People will just stand in front of you without any disregard or respect if elderly and handicap senior citizens and can't do all that standing. It didn't matter they were told it's okay. So I want be spending my good money 💰🤑💲 To Go Again No Time Soon . Because I Wanted To Ask The People Who Just Had To Keep Standing To Please allow me to enjoy the show 😜 We didn't pay to see people standing in front of us and not even dancing but just because they were told it's okay 👎🏾 😠 The Cocktails Was Highway Robbery. I asked one bartender the price my first drink the cheapest Tequila was 11$ Sauzer plus tax Still came to the price of the top shelf Patron Tequila 13 . So when I went back the second time the other bartender said a different price even higher for the Sauzer Tequila 12 $. It was 1 dollar cheaper than the Patron Tequila 🤷🏾♀️. If that was the case I would have rather had The Patron Tequila the first time. These things should be posted so everyone knows what what. Thanks For Asking. Do Better Saenger Theater Please .
M.E.
Staff was friendly. The show was great. The atmosphere was excellent. Valet parking was a bit of a mess. Other than that, everything was great!
Scott Beyer
I always enjoy going to the Saenger Theatre. The seats are comfortable, shows are always enjoyable and the facility is very nice. Would highly recommend you visit the Saenger Theatre.
Brandy T
The Saenger is a beautiful theater with a great staff and plenty of street and garage parking nearby. It features orchestra and balcony seating, with no boxes (that I could see.) They could probably do with more bathrooms (the lines were unmanageable during the intermission of our sold-out show), but there are plenty of concessions stands, an easily accessible bar, and a VIP lounge. The acoustics were nice, the seating is in keeping with an older, traditional theater, and the simple numbering scheme makes it easy to find your seat. I don't live in NOLA, but I hope I have occasion to go back.
Teneha B
Historic building. Lovely theater. Newly renovated. State of the art. Various levels of seating for your viewing pleasure.
Not too hot or too cold. Temperature is JUST right. This is always a concern of mine.
Full stocked bars for the adult beverage of your choosing. And snacks as well for noshing during intermission.
Several entrance/exit doors accommodate entrance and departure of patrons.
Michelle Lacombe
Historic, beautifully crafted sculptures, vibrant beautiful colors, well maintained Theater. Very personable and helpful staff. They basically cater to the people's needs in the theater. Just a lovely atmosphere & a great place to watch shows in downtown New Orleans.
Victoria Scholz
I visited here to see a weekday evening performance of Wicked. As far as theatres go, it is pretty standard, but the decorations make it even better. The entrance to the ladies' room is beautiful, and the Greco-Roman sculptures throughout added a sense of class. I particularly liked the ceiling in the actual auditorium--it had sparkling lights to imitate the night sky.
Leslie
A beautiful venue! I attended the theatre for the musicals Wicked and Les Misérables. I also attended the theatre for a concert. For the three times I have visited the venue, I sat at different sections and had no problem with hearing whatever was occurring on stage. The ceiling is really gorgeous and painted like the night sky full of stars. The ushers have always been kind and never had a problem finding my seats.
There is a nearby parking tower that caters to the events at the theatre for $20. Or if you want to save money, park a few blocks away and walk.
Adam T.
This place is so beautiful, it's hard to describe. I had such a good time here, I'm sad I didn't take more pics of the atmosphere. The staff was friendly and very helpful, the concessions were a bit pricey but expected. Couldn't get the qr to work on the back of the seats though.
Adam Zimmerman
Brought my daughter to see Frozen. She was impressed and loved the place. Called it "fancy". The place was very clean and not a bad seat in the house! Highly recommend!
Melanie Meilleur
I have always loved this theater, but the recent fixes and renovations have left it more beautiful than ever. There's a magic in the Saenger that I've never felt in any other theater. Walking in feels like stepping into another world - there are stars twinkling in the night sky overhead, and soft colors in the lighting everywhere else evoke sunsets and nebula. The seats are red velveteen and super comfortable, even for a 3 hour event. It's accessible for walkers and wheelchairs, with wide aisles for easy walking. They even have a new drinks-to-your-seat service that I didn't try out but seems easy to use and intuitive. I have nothing but good to say about my time there and I think everyone should see at least one show there in their lifetimes.
Tomeka nicole
Great atmosphere, comfortable seating. Staff was extremely helpful & accommodating to my great aunt who is elderly & an asthmatic. Thank you all!!!💜 …
Ryan Cantelmo
I don't know of anywhere else within hundreds of miles of New Orleans I can visit to see a Broadway stage production. I've always had a great experience at the Saenger and I certainly plan to return in the future.
Krystal Hiatt (Surviving Life)
The facility was nice and clean and really beautiful. We saw Hamilton and it was amazing. The only issue I saw was the small room before the door to the auditorium was completely crowded and once you got in you had a lady fussing at you about being in the walk way but no one was allowed to go in the door yet so no one needed to walk anywhere but then we were being fussed at fir standing in front of the stairs and in front of the bar but people kept coming in and my family and I were stuck and could t get back out so yelling and fussing wasn't pleasant.
Damien Givens
Such of a beautiful place to visit and to see a show at. Drinks where overpriced and it seemed as if they where watered down. I would advise to drink before arriving if you wanted to partake.
Mark Clark
Always a great experience at the Saenger Theatre. Their team and venue is top of it's class. Well operated and there is no bad seat in the house. Highly recommend catching at show at the Saenger.
Barret Hargrave
Had awesome experience watching Bert Kreisher. Theater itself is beautiful. Staff was friendly. Prices for beverages just a bit expensive, but understand why.
Julie Lopez
The Saenger Theater is a wonderful venue located in the heart of New Orleans. There are old, historic touches all around inside the theater that I just loved. I had a great time there and would recommend this place to anyone!
Laura McDonnell
The theatre is beautiful and I would recommend going to see a show just so you can see the interior!
Cynthia Guilford
I went there to see Hamilton. It was great. We sat in the balcony. We could see and hear everything. Architecturally speaking It is a stunning venue!!!
Wendy McGibboney
Always a pleasure visiting this place. From the moment you walk in you are transported back to classic Hollywood era. Marble floors and ornate details, classic and fantastic. We have seen Finding Neverland and Rent and both times we find ourselves in awe. One of my Rent tickets wouldn't scan, they directed me to the box office and the staff member quickly printed me a new one and we were in the door in no time.
Hope to go back soon for another show!
Emily K.
I've been to the Saenger Theatre for several events. Comedians, musicals, and now a concert. I always have a blast! Fair warning: their snacks are limited to boxes of candy or chocolate, soda drinks, and alcohol. Eat a full dinner before going.
Jimmy Vo
I came here to watch So You Think You Can Dance, American in Paris, and Rent. It is a beautiful theatre with columns and European style structures. The ceiling is filled with stars constellation and it creates this dreamy look in the theatre. They have a lot of shows that I like and the theatre is clean. The staffs are helpful as well. The men’s bathroom is hard to find and I end up having to go up and down the stair before I can find it. There are several parkings all around the theatre - you just need to pay about $25 and walk a bit. Overall, I love this theatre and I will definitely come back to it.
carl vogt
Saw cats, very beautiful place, everything was very detailed and very fancy. I was impressed.
Holly Gurauskas
The theater is absolutely beautiful. The staff was friendly and helpful. My only complaint would be the seating for someone tall. We are a family of big/tall people and my son and I had barely enough legroom. We spent the show with our knees pressing into the seats in front of us. But I don't think most people would have an issue with the seating. The only other minor complaints I would mention is the cost for parking and concessions. $6 for a water or soda, $10-14 for a 12 oz beer or 8oz wine, $6-7 for a candy all just seems a bit excessive to me , but it wasn't unexpected. The $40 parking for a 3 hour show was unexpected, I had expected to pay about $20, but the parking lot was very conveniently located, monitored and well lit.
Melissa Brendtro
Ticketmaster customer service is absolutely dreadful. They don't have a phone number and the chat is actually not live; it creates a ticket and takes days to inch toward a resolution... if you're lucky. But the theater box office graciously compensated us. We appreciate that greatly. Beautiful facility with plenty of dining and hotels nearby. We walked there and back.
Cody Holland
Great venue with a retro feel. This place was restored and is in excellent condition. There also seems to be a great line up year around. I've seen 4 shows here and have always enjoyed it.
Tiffany Anderson
The renovations to the theater are beautiful. There isnt a prettier venue in the city. However, for the high seat prices, i expect a better experience. The staff doesnt check your ticket to access the floor so many people were stealing seats. It was a constant distraction from the show. Lighting is decent but sound quality is sub par, at least from the orchestra
Denise Schaffer
I have never been there and it was Magnificent. My Daughter and I enjoyed every minute we were there. We will definitely be coming back. Maybe even season tickets in our future.
Le A
It's been a long while since I've been, but one of my favorite theatres, hands down. Sadly moved out of LA, so it will be a whole before I'll be able to visit again, but I had a lovely conversation with a man who worked there.
Garland
Been to a few concerts here over the years. Good sound system and lots of bars!
Trevor Halford
Such a beautiful place! Seen Rob Thomas and it was so amazing. Im in a power chair and as soon as the band started people stood up and I could not see. I had to maneuver to the side so I can see the band but other than that this place was great. It was comfortable and easy to get to everything. I cannot wait to go to another show here. Hopefully I will be in a better place to see from my wheelchair. The sound was wonderful and the staff was extremely nice, Helpful and polite.
Bevan Jenkins
Watched a performance of the Lion King. Fantastic show and the theatre itself was great, with the decorative features of carvings, plastered designs and starred ceiling.
Fran Stein
Love the play Pretty Woman. Seats were perfect. 5 rows from front. Parking was outrageous. $40.00
sal lovecchio
Saw SIX and it was spectacular! The inside was fabulous. Sound fantastic! Best venue in the area for this type of Play.
shaniluchion
The Lion King was an amazing musical. It had me singing along reliving my childhood. Looking forward to the next performance
Kimberly Thomas
We enjoyed Lauren Daigle Christmas. We were VIP Lounge members with valet parking. It was a 5 star experience!
Ken Warriner
Excellent place for anyone to catch a great show
Theatre Geek
So so. Seats are very crowded and place isn't great for ADA accessibility. Staff is very nice, though. Service dog friendly, too.
troy2021
I went to see The Lion King and the performance was an Amazing experience. Inside the Saenger Theatre is pretty since the remodeling.
Ultreya
Bc they had DIANA KRALL, I overlooked all else. The unfair problems with ADA reservations. The $40 parking behind the theater you are pretty much stuck with if you need wheelchair access. The side entrance they say is ADA, but not if you need will-call. The lady at will-call that wasn't friendly nor expressed gratitude for spending $176. Not being able to catch Diana backdoor-waiting an hour so a 12 yo fan could get her songbook signed. The non-ADA concession counters, and no offer of help. The barely ADA bathroom stall. The theater is gorgeous though, like being in Rome. The lighting effects on the musicians and stage--awe-inspiring (maybe that was Diana & co.?) And did I mention, DIANA KRALL? The best, dreamiest, jazz pianist and vocalist you'll find, plus her guys--together, they dress up the Saenger, and that is saying something. Go see her here. Or anywhere, really.
Tatum
Absolutely beautiful theater. Even the seats in the wayyyy back had a good view of the stage for Lion King.
Natalie Slack
Had a great time last night at EARTH,WIND,FIRE CONCERT. They brought it baby. Concert soooo good.
That was my money worth and more.
m sm
Loved the theater, it's just as beautiful as when I was young. There are a few sandwiches and snacks and you can order from your seat.
Angela Westmoreland
This theatre is amazing!!! The limestone work is brilliant along with the gold trimmings along the ceilings... And the starry ceiling is breathtaking!!!... Went to the moscow russian nutcracker for the first time as well as the saenger... Had a great time... Definitely going next yr...
Rod Johnson
Beautiful theater. Attended the Lion King Broadway show. Great seats
Ed Smith
Always a great time here. Never disappointed
Bob Queen
What can I say about this legendary theater that has been beautifully restored since Katrina damaged. Saw a comedy show there the other night and staff and comfortable seats and good sound made it a wonderful evening. But the theater was breathtakingly beautiful. What a treasure for the City.
Katie Fardsalehi
I've been here for several different musicals now and it's such a beautiful venue. The balcony seats are a bit cramped but I feel that's pretty on par with most theaters. The orchestra seating is fabulous though. It's absolutely stunning inside!
spencer schultz
Beautiful venue. The acoustics were amazing. Front row seat on the balcony provides a terrific view!
Paul Sylvest
The Saenger Theatre is a fantastic venue for entertainment, especially for groups like Chicago, which really put on a show.
V Kvedoras
Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful theater. First time attending a performance here. We saw The Jersey Boys. This is my 5th time seeing this show. I've seen it in Chicago, Vegas and now New Orleans. The cast was superb!! Totally enjoyed listening to all the amazing music. I'm looking forward to attending more shows in the upcoming season.
CUTT DAWG
Parking was easy enough, maybe a two block walk and theater was beautiful but the staff was extremely rude. After spending $70 for 5 drinks while socializing we were literally yelled at to stop blocking the bar. No one was blocking anything we were over 10 feet away, there was plenty of room for others to participate and get what they needed. I'm not exaggerating, they embarrassed the hell out of my family by being loud and obnoxious. It was a great performance by the Hamilton actors too bad I couldn't say the same for the staff.
rj mccasland
We filmed heretofore 2 days it's a fantastic place to be soo much history 😀 …
AC Liles III
Beautiful Ole Theatre!! Excellent views and acoustics!!! Nice service and refreshments available!!
Iyla Rue
It is the best theater I have ever gone to and actually the first. Hamilton was amazing.
Truman Granberry
Really beautiful theater. Really on top of things. Not a long wait to get in or for concessions. All in all great experience. Staff on their sh$# and pleasant to deal with. Beer was overpriced 😁! LMAO …
Mandy Boudreaux
The theater was beautiful. We could see and hear the show from our seats in the balcony very well.
Cole Fitzmorris
Absolutely love the Saenger!! The hospitality, the amazing architecture, just everything about that place was outstanding. I always look forward to going and watch a play because that place brings the play to a whole nother level. Other than the prices for food and drinks, i can't find anything that i don't like about the theater. I cannot suggest going and watching a play more here!! Please please go! You won't regret it!
Paul Voss
Watched the play. LION KING. Wonderful.
Chris Tucker
Decent legroom. Lots of helpful and friendly staff. Prices for concessions are less than a movie theater. Very beautiful building. Also the sound system is great and the AC is adequate (but common in old theaters) without freezing you.
kim Hunter
The Saenger is as Beautiful as ever!!!!The Beautiful Craftsmanship is Gorgeous!!!!Always a beautiful venue to go too!!!! Enjoyed Earthwind and 🔥 they gave an Awesome concert!!!!! …
Annette Swope
OMG! This place is absolutely beautiful! I'm not sure New Orleans citizens realize what a gift they have! There's no part of it that isn't just spectacular. And I was completely disappointed to see that people actually threw trash, food, etc. all over the floor as if this place is a discount movie theater! More respect should be paid to this NOLA treasure.
Nicole Coan
The theater is gorgeous and clean. Went and saw SIX and it was a great experience.
Joel Munoz III
The staff was extremely helpful and friendly. The venue was clean and i really loved the ornate decor.
Billy J
This theater is just amazing. I’ve seen Phantom of the Opera. And I’ve been to concerts here. The acoustics were better than most places I’ve ever been.
Machelle Romero
Don't let the outside fool you! This place is gorgeous inside! It has great acoustics and very friendly staff.
Wendy Peterson
The theater was absolutely gorgeous. Very satisfied with the acoustics. Didn't seem to be a bad seat in the place.
Veronica M Warren
Loved The Lion King show it was beautiful and all the acting was amazing. The theater is beautiful as well.
Jordan Graham
This theater is pretty and has solid acoustics.
We had mid balcony center area seats and they were perfect for the Star Wars in concert featuring the LPO.
I've yet to catch a touring show here, but my partner has season tickets and goes to a lot of them. She thoroughly enjoys the venue.
My biggest complaint is they sometimes allow Ticketmaster... Which pretty much doubles ticket prices.
Either way, catch a show when and if you can!
Reka the Travelnista
Wicked was phenomenal. Even at the top, I could see and hear clearly. The edifice has much charm. I didn't like the flow of traffic during the intermission: very congested. Plus, after standing in lines, many items were out.
Felicia Chaisson
I've seen countless shows here and they're always amazing! One of my favorite venues for entertainment!
Frank Kerner
Came here to see Evanescence live, and this theatre was jaw-droppingly gorgeous! The entire thing floor to ceiling is unreal, and the sound quality was phenomenal. It's super convenient to get to, and the staff were awesome! Can't wait to come back to another concert here!
watergirl711
I was at the Saenger to see The Color Purple. Awesome show. Great performers.
Being at the Saenger brought back memories of when I was a teenager 40 years ago and sold concessions for the movie theater. A beautiful building still. The statues are the same beautiful statues. The star ceiling still amaze me. I love the Saenger Theatre.
A Richmond
It was a great experience at a historical theater, but it was extremely crowded with long waits for beverages and restrooms. I missed the first song after intermission after standing in line for the restroom for the entirety of the time.
That didn't take away from such a beautiful atmosphere.
Peanut Butter
Great shows beautiful architecture and just a beautiful place all together in a great City
Kat Kreis
Show was incredible! Saenger staff were mostly good. I was vastly surprised by the lack of communication regarding this metal detector and TSA mentality inspection at the door. This should be clearly advertised to be expected.
As a New Orleans native, I wasn't terribly surprised to see the increased security and metal detectors.... I can live with that, but wanted to be sure to tell management that info needed to be added to the website... I WAS surprised by the mouthy disrespect at the front door!!! It was appalling compared to our theatrical experiences in other cities.
After my guy had to leave back to the car to put away his pocket contents, two people told me "don't complain to me" I insisted they had a manager they could inform patrons about this security... and that the info should be posted on the website... I was pointed to a Mr Daniels, after his team started getting all mouthy about how "this is New Orleans" - I pointed out that I was also raised here, and raised to communicate respectfully and not make excuses for my lack of communication... instead of just plain apologizing for the LACK OF CUSTOMER SERVICE at the front gate
However the staff at the other locations (other gate, bars, etc.) were much more professional and service oriented. All in all, I do love the theater... I do hope that they learn to communicate expectations more appropriately on the website.
David Barker
Theater is beautiful and the shows are great. However, it is poorly laid out with inaccessible restrooms and rude ushers.
Milan Valuch
We love the Saenger! Restored 1920s era theater, a historic grande dame on New Orleans' Canal St. This grand lady handles rock toowe saw ZZ Top here pre-pandemic. The Broadway in New Orleans series is the bestthe attached photo is from "Cats". Check out the twinkling stars in the ceiling!
karen clark
Great Broadway plays here.
Robin Webster
I had a great experience watching the Lion King Broadway show! Everything was in order with entering and with intermission times!
Kim Hedberg
We went for the Little Feat concert and what a night! This venue is beautiful and just the right size. The acoustics are perfect, and it was easy getting in and easy leaving when the show was over. Highly recommend.
Christian Collins
Beautiful! Had an awesome experience seeing Hamilton.
Eliot kamenitz
One of the greatest places to view entertainment be with comfy seats and beverage delivery to your seat. No matter if f the show is good or bad, just to sit in this restored theater with it's art and twinkling star ceiling is a treat
Melissa Pate
I just love this theatre. Every time I go I notice a more beautiful detail.
Patrick Feeley
Went to see Moody Blues 50th Reunion. Saenger is a great theatre to see any kind of show. There is allot of paid parking near the theatre.
Terisa Reinholtz
So Beautiful & AWESOME atmosphere! I went for the first time to the Diana Ross concert! I felt so awed & astounded by the beauty and history of the place.
Carter Spade
This place is gorgeous. Had a great time here. It's not too big but big enough. NiN was amazing here.
CJ Wallace
I am not a fan of musicals (yet), but my wife is a huge fan. Nevertheless, I always enjoy my time here with her. I have never left here without smiling or laughing.
Cynthia T
Saengar is one of the opulent old theater houses of New Orleans. Anchoring Canal St, you can catch any of 'Broadway Across America's' line up here. (Season passes are available for those who can't miss a thing.) Parking is extra and should be purchased with your ticket. Beware the construction on N.Rampart for the trolley cars.
Lisa Rice
I love this place, its beautiful and the staff is friendly! Im so glad that I was able to come see Hamilton.... the best play I have been to thus far! Thank you Saenger Theater for having them there!
Update.. still an amazing theater with good plays!
Jessica Thaxton
Beautiful venue! We sat in the balcony and could see and hear everything great. We would for sure go back for another concert.
Ajoy Bista
Watched Lion King musical! Amazing! So glad that we went.
Mary Lomax
I believe it's the closest to Broadway in the south. Watched The Lion King and it was truly amazing...can't wait to visit again.
Evan Wilson
Beautiful theater. Every seat is a good one.
Lanna Lejeune
This theater is such a joy to visit. From the aesthetics to comfort of seats and visibility wherever you sit, it's an amazing experience!
Randall Howard
Great venue and they always have popular shows
tladiett1969
It would have received 5 stars but it needs elevators up to the balcony
Charles Macaluso
Have Broadway season tickets there for 30+ years. Beautiful and comfortable.
Leonar Franco
Wow! What I liked the most about this theatre was the theater itself. Incredible! While you are inside the theater 🎭 you’ve got the feeling that it’s an open air theater, and you get transported to somewhere in Europe could be Italy of France.. It’s was amazing. …
Camera Otter
This is perhaps my favorite Theatre in New Orleans! The ambiance is very unique inside and is themed beautifully.
Amanda Holt
This place is beautiful! Expect inflated pricing at consessions; it is the theatre after all. Fully enjoyed our show!
Douglas Tate
Rebirth + Nathaniel Rateliff = Awesomeness
Great venue......bring a jacket....the A/C in here works great!!!

We saw Frozen and it was amazing! The cast and crew did a spectacular job! The theater is beautiful and kept so clean. The staff is very friendly. We will be back for another play soon.
Barbara Keenan
Had great seats and perfect sightlines. The vocal sound was a little spotty.
john williams
I love the Saenger, a beautiful theater with an amazingly welcoming atmosphere. I wish i could go to shows there more often, but i look forward to the times that I'm able.
chris ball
Fabulous venue to see your favorites!
JoSette Pruett
The Saenger was the best place to see the Lion King live. It was fantastic!
charlotte Johnson
Excellent venue with the best of Broadway! Always enjoyable.
Tammi Bourque
I love the Saenger theater. Unfortunately, I decided to exit out of the Rampart side exit, with many patrons behind me. The step to the outside is quite deep, and with so many people trying to exit at once, I fell out of the door on the sidewalk directly on my left knee and elbow. 3 days later I'm still in severe pain. No one even bothered to help me up, which is very unusual for Louisiana citizens. I will only exit the Canal Street exit in the future.
Laura Kiefer
Greatest entertainment venue in the city
John Weatherly
First time to see a production or anything in Saenger Theater. Great and quaint theater that we will be coming back to. We hopped over to New Orleans from Houston to see Hamilton. Everything was wonderful.
Syreta Evans
Saw the Hip Hop Nutcracker and absolutely loved it. There really is no bad seat in the house.
Roberta Keenan
Amazing venue. Watched Lion King. Stunning place

Great theater! I wish I knew about the valet parking option a head of time.
Lexandra J
It was amazing to see Waitress here. My first Nola show. Only downside was there were no playbills. Gorgeous space, would revisit.

Jay “Jay”
Very cool venue. Great place to see a show.
Bubbles Popping
We loved the theatre!!! We will definitely be returning & also purchasing yearly passes!
Robert Caruso
Going to a show at the Saenger is always a special event!
Marcus L.
The theater exudes the new orleans spirit. The Spanish facade fits right in with the french-inspired downtown and quarter area. More importantly, the inside is ornate and lends itself to several great selfies or group photos. Lastly, given how much history the venue has, it manages to pull big entertainers, from the production of the Broadway hit Wicked, to the incorrigible comedian that imbued the 90s with snarky observations, Jerry Seinfield.
Jason Russell (JayRuss)
The most amazing place ... Look at the photos and see the old world style of Nola!
Jamilah Peters-Muhammad
Took my Great Grandson to see Lion King..., AMAZING production.
Aaron Raymond
Went to the Primus show. Had a great time. Very simple entry.
Ron Stenson
Obstructed view of stage! Manager didn't care. Claimed it was my fault.
The Saennger Theatre in New Orleans is a beautiful venue. I bought my wife tickets to see the Nutcracker ballet there as a Christmas present. I bought relatively expensive seats in the orchestra section. There was nothing on the theatre website, or the TicketMaster website indicating that the view of the sage from these seats was obstructed. It was. For my wife, about 20% and for myself, about 40%. I suffered through the performance because I didn't want to spoil my wife's excitement.
When I spoke to the usher at intermission she shrugged and agreed that it was a shame. After the show was over I asked some of the concession people where the theatre manager was and three separate concession people stated that some of the closer seats had that problem, and directed me to the box office.
Here's where the insult was applied to the injury. Both the woman working the box office and then her manager, Jeff, told me that it was TicketMaster's problem and that I should have chosen different seats. Zero empathy, 100% blaming the customer. Both box office personnel were belligerent and angry at me for complaining. I told Jeff that the seats should never had been made available for sale and he said that it was my issue, not his. I asked if there were seats available for the second performance, Jeff said yes, and rather than trying to sell them to me he angrily told me he would not "comp" me tickets.
The seating itself was disappointing, but the very poor attitudes and customer service that we received from these two people ruined our evening, and a big part of my wife's Christmas present. It has tainted our view of New Orleans in general.
I attempted to show the box office people a few pictures but was dismissed. For context, we were the only patrons in the box office, so there was no need to rush their sour judgement.
Gregory Martin
It was straight out nice & hilarious for the Boogie Cousin's Comedy Show. The Saenger was very clean, staff was very helpful.
Jonathan Fadok
This is a beautiful theater with a ton of character. It's five stars beautiful but the restroom situation is terrible and getting into and out of the theater is cramped.
Sheritta Benoit
Beautiful place, nice venue, tickets lil bit pricey. But all in all wonderful play The Lion King
Stephen Taylor
Great historic theatre. Beautiful architecture, go catch a show. Not a bad seat in the house
Anthony R
Saw Sebastian Maniscalco perform there, he was great so was the Theatre!
Heather Mulder
Stunning theater. I saw Anastasia from Broadway (touring) as part of the Broadway in New Orleans series. Not a bad seat in the house and even the nosebleeds have a clear view of the stage.
Allison Baudier
Saw Diana Krall. Great acoustics. Lots of places to park.
Christie Thompson
Beautiful, not a bad seat in the house. Outstanding performances. Looking forward to seeing Wicked
Rod Stieffel
The renovated Saenger Theater is beautiful and the Broadway shows are exceptional! There's plenty parking with easy access.
Cidni Doell
I visit the Saenger all the time. I absolutely love it. It's gorgeous and the staff are very friendly. I've never seen a bad performance here!
Shelly Mott
I really enjoyed the play at the Saenger Theatre. The employees were very helpful, and the lines for concession stand moved quickly. The restrooms were very clean. The only complaint is finding a place to park.
matthew Vickry
Food and drinks were pretty expensive. However the experience was wonderful
M R
Great place to watch your favorite act. You can order food and drinks using an app from your seat. Good selection of food and drinks.
Joseph Alphonse
Saenger Theater is excellent. However, not many people understand how to behave during live theater and just stay in their seats.
Darion Sneeze
Loved the atmosphere and how kind the staff were.
RexAnne Leggett
Very nice place, beautiful decor. Show was great. Drinks were pricey but nothing unusual for this type of venue.
Amanda Blue
Such a beautiful theater! This is the only picture I took, but it is absolutely stunning and not a bad seat in the house.
MELISSA RILEY
Great venue and cast/performance. It was amazing.
Ellen Skapski
A beautiful venue that brings back the opulence of ages past
deVra padron
We had great seats, the venue is beautiful, the bartender was super friendly. I was stopped by a man as I ventured to the left floor balcony statue.
Marshall Sheldon
Been here over a dozen times for shows. Always great!
Michael Boutte
Good concert venue. Saw Nine Inch Nails perform there.
Miss April Nola (Nuttie Foodie)
The Saenger presents a variety of live shows, including rock concerts, standup comedy, and musicals. Attire may depend on the show. When I went to see The Phantom, dress was mainly after-5 to formal, although there were a few people in jeans.
The Saenger's location on Canal makes it a huge tourist an attraction, and group sales are available. There are a couple parking decks/lots within walking distance (about 4 blocks or 1/4 mile). The Saenger is also walking distance from nearby hotels, restaurants and shops.
The "ordertorium" features typical movie concessions like popcorn, candy, water, and soda. Wine, beer and cocktales can be ordered at the concession stand or one of several bars in the ordertorium. Drinks and snacks can also be ordered from your seat.
Beautifully ornate venue with grand ambiance featuring orchestra and balcony seating beneath a starlit night sky ceiling effect. In addition to the beautiful cosmetic restoration, post-Katrina renovations include both technical and accessibility upgrades.
Rickey Smith
It was an absolutely amazing experience! If you haven't been inside The Saenger it is a must see.
Denise Easley
Beautiful theater. Loved the Grinch!
sara george
Such a beautiful theater. I enjoyed the twinkling stars on the ceiling the most.
Suzanne Wiley
Wonderful night! Any event at Saenger is always special!
Karen Scott
Loved it saw The Color Purple the theatre is beautiful!
Ellen Sovkoplas
Sorta biased since I work here, but it is a beautiful venue
Jennifer Giroir
We saw Hamilton! It was amazing. The saenger is beautiful! I don't think there's a bad seat in the saenger.
Barry Miller
Beautiful Grand Dame of Theatre in New Orleans. From Broadway shows on the road, to concerts and other theatrical productions, it's always a spectacular event at the Saenger.
Sandy de Bie
Lovely place to see a show, esp Hamilton. They even deliver wine and snacks to your seat.
Greg Welch
One of the most gorgeous theatres I have ever been in!
Mark Heisel
Beautiful theater. Came for Price is right live.
kristen m.
The prettiest of all the Saengers! I saw Phantom of the Opera here, and it was amazing.
Matthew Turk
This place is so neat and clean!!! Friendly staff!!! Always enjoy coming here!!!
Alysha DeShaé Terry
While I thoroughly enjoyed the show I watched and the employees were friendly and helpful, the seats were incredibly noisy and uncomfortable.
Lauren S
Theater is still a beautiful place to go, but they should have valet parking for handicapped people, not just special ticket holders. Walking two blocks to the nearest garage is not easy for some people.
Dan Anderson
Beautiful place... comfortable seats...roomy
Adam Stanfield
This was the first time my wife and I had ever done a theater show. The theater does not have parking, but there are several pay-by-the-hour parking garages within a few blocks that you can use. Also, transit runs right down Canal Street. Anyone visiting New Orleans (or living there for that matter) should have no problem getting to the theater. Upon entering the theater, I was struck with its magnificence. I suppose I didn't realize just how big it would be. But, it was beautiful! The architecture has been done to match its original style (1920s, I think). There are concession stands on the orchestra level and the balcony level. Our seats were in the top of the balcony level (by choice), and I had no problem seeing or hearing anything, though my wife noted she had a hard time hearing. We saw An American In Paris, which was roughly 2 hours and 45 minutes (including intermission). The show was amazing!
Altogether, our experience at the Saenger was great!
David Mannella
Went to see the Lion King and the show was excellent.
Claudio Segura
Really cool place with beautiful decorations throughout the venue. We came from Atlanta to see Dan TDM and had a blast!
Jon Jeffels
Super-friendly and helpful staff. Very clean restrooms. Fantastic show venue with stunning ornamentation. Disability accessibility was superb.
Stephanie Ledet
Beautiful when I visited as a child, still beautiful today! Not a bad seat in the house. Acoustics are fantastic!
Andrew “Drew” Savage
Great venue to see a music, comic show or Broadway, no bad seats, beautiful decor. Facing the city Famous Canal street, a few blocks from Bourbon St, or St. Charles street Car line.
Lisa Iredale
Fantastic evening watching great bands in a beautiful venue
Carol Cecilian
What a beautiful theatre. I'm a visitor to NO and have been to two performances at the Sanger and would suggest anyone visiting NO to make a point of seeing a performance there.
Scott Geiger
Always a good show in a great place.
Janice Puckett
Saw the play Anastasia, I really enjoyed myself, and the performance was amazing. The lead character was phenomenal!
Gina batizbustillo
Watched the lion King Great place but food was very expensive
erin moreau
Because it’s the most beautiful place in New Orleans
Helen Harrand
This is a beautiful theater within walking distance to the French Quarter. It has been restored completely and it is absolutely gorgeous. There are multiple bars, the bar upstairs is usually weigh less crowded than the bars downstairs. Check the website for the acts that they have coming.
Gavriel Fleischman
Words can't described.
Soil will tell you the secrets.
Bathrooms, use three downstairs, for males, the urinals are around the corner.
For drinks, order from the seat.
Martin Ayton
You have to love the Saenger! It isn't difficult to get to and there is plenty of parking nearby. It is a really beautiful building. It's odd for a theatre in that it is narrow and deep and the raking is relatively gentle, so if you are at the back of the balcony, you are a *long* way from the stage. The seats are comfortable and the acoustic is pretty good. There are very few poor sightlines. They have a really good mix of shows and put on some fantastic touring Broadway performances. I have honestly enjoyed every one of the many performances I have been to here.
Edgardo Dalson
Amazing, I went to see Star Wars with the live score with the Louisiana Philharmonic Orchestra. Amazing venu for a truly wonderful experience.
Ashton Melancon
Went to see Hamilton in a Wednesday. The theater was very beautiful and, of course, very crowded. It didn't take very long to get concessions or find out seats, but I do wish that there was more obvious signage for restrooms. When you only have a few minutes at intermission and you've never been there before, it can be stressful trying to find a restroom that isn't on the bottom floor. Other than that, we had a great time.
Heidi Rose
This theater is historic and naturally New Orleans. I am here now seeing Phantom of the Opera for the third time. The people who work here are friendly, helpful, and wonderful. The venue itself is stunning inside. It's a "must visit" place. I am so glad they renovated after Katrina. I love it here.
M Donohue
Pretty nice theatre. Acoustics are great in most areas. Bathrooms and traffic flow are less desirable - but almost every theatre is like that! You should go - just save your brass knuckles and excessive imbibing for another day... A shout out to the security team that puts up with nothing❤️
Keyona
We saw Hamilton. Very good show. Theater staff was polite and crowd control was well handled.
Jesse Evans, Jr.
We really enjoyed the show! Great time!
Amy Winter
My daughter loved Phantom of the Opera in March 2018 and the Nutcracker Balley in December 2017.
Emily DeBaca
Classic feel from the outside. The inside is very extravagant looking. The place was opened first in 1927, which is pretty incredible. There are two entrances, so if the line is long in canal street, head to the second entrance around the corner. They have concessions similar to a movie theater with a full bar as well. The concession prices are comparable to a movie theater except the sodas are much smaller. The bathrooms are not large enough to accommodate intermission of a large show and there was wine spilled on the floor despite there being an attendant in the room. Also, the theater was a bit hot with a full crowd, otherwise I would’ve given 5 stars.
Would return for a show in the future. It’s a fun experience to even look around such an old building and the theater itself looks lovely.
Andy Vernel
This is a good venue. We saw the Weird Al Yankovic Strings Attached show and it sounded great, the seating was comfortable for two larger adults and the concessions were sensibly priced. The theater staff were very friendly and accommodating and added to a great night.
MODERN FLOORING & INTERIORS
We were lucky enough to see Theresa Caputo here. The setting of the theatre made it feel very intimate. A great place to see any show.
Shirlee Marr
Best venue EVER! Absolutely beautiful. Friendly, efficient staff. Great access for those mobility challenged.
Nilesh Patel
Amazing theater with a high class charm. It was a unusually cold night for a play, but the theaters warmth and the setting took us into a different world all together. Highly recommend for anyone visiting NOLA, who wants to witness Jazz, and other plays etc.
Elizabeth Falgoust
Went to see Cinderella. The music and dancing were awesome. The costumes and details were very well done. We really enjoyed ourselves. The theatre itself is spectacular. It's beautiful. It's worth the time and money to go.
Craig Winn
Hamilton was amazing here. My wife and 19 year old daughter went on and on about this venue and the play. How beautiful the theatre was and how good you could see the stage since the seats were offset and sloping up. Wonderful experience.
Riain Rising
One of the best rooms in New Orleans for music or comedy.
Lindsey Hoover
I haven't been to the Saenger since before Hurricane Katrina. It was beautiful! We saw Nine Inch Nails here and they sounded awesome! The seats were pretty comfortable, but we also stood up some. We sat in the first balcony and had a great view. I'm definitely looking forward to going back.
Bjorn2bwild
Historic theater that was recently renovated and brought back to it's orginal glory. Sound and ambience were incredible.
Meredith Enzone
Lovely place to watch a play or performance. It's comfortable & the bathrooms are conveniently located. There are concessions as well.
Mouton In Motion
First time visits (4/28/2019) since Katrina and renovation. This place is still by far the most elegant facility in the city. As I recall, the sound was not that prime then but now it is outstanding. The ushers were eager to assist and very courteous. The concession staff was the same. Nearby parking a bit pricey but worth the well lit floors, wide spaces and convenience. Will certainly consider catching more performances in future.
Suhas the goat
Beautifully restored historic theater with incredible sound!
Ivan Vasquez
This is a very beautiful theater. The seats are comfortable but get there early because the rows are very narrow and once the show starts it's difficult to find your seat. They have a concession stand that offers drinks and snacks (but be ready to pay).
Abigail Wooddell
We saw The Nutcracker ballet here. The theater itself is absolutely gorgeous. Being able to order concessions from and to our seats was convenient and fast. The restrooms are surprisingly clean and adequate for the large crowds that all want to use them at the same time . Staff was courteous, helpful and efficient. We were pretty impressed with the entire experience!
Thomas Belongia
Amazing!
Kat Knapp
This theater is stunning! It's a wonderful place to see a show while in New Orleans. A ton of history and great acoustics. I'm so glad I got to chance to experience it and I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area.
Ellen McDowell Sherrouse
This is a beautiful historic theater. Just walking in the building is part of the great experience of seeing a play. At intermission they give clear directions on how to find the restroom and have attendants to get people in and out. I didn't try it, but on my most recent visit there was a menu to get drinks delivered to your seat.
B Ortego
Went to see Criss Angel last night here. (And obviously his show was AMAZING) But this is about the theatre. The place is absolutely beautiful!!! All the detail work is absolutely astonishing! I mean if you're into that kind of stuff of course. Wish I had the pictures on this phone but unfortunately I do not.
Joshua Grippo
They did a great job with their vax and mask policy, but do many people in the crowd refused to listen. Still a beautiful venue.
April Rose
Pretty venue. Nice size to maximize seating and have good views from all seats. Bass was a bit to high and cancelled out vocalist at times. Lights were pretty and well-timed. Drinks are very expensive, as one would expect from this type of venue. Seats were comfortable for 2 hour concert. Plenty of parking nearby, but the venue itself does not have parking.
Vickie Montalbano
Wow! Walking into the Saenger is quite literally like walking back in time. It is evident that each and every detail was checked under a magnifying glass before reopening after falling victim to hurricane Katrina. It took a while but my goodness, what an amazing job! Our city is very fortunate to have the Saenger back. I attended a concert there not too long ago. I was impressed by the service as well. Very different from any other venue Ive been to in NOLA. I love that they offer champagne and wine by the bottle, have a wine bar, and offer an array of other concessions at a decent price. Overall, outstanding! Had no idea what to expect and I am beyond satisfied!!
Charles baird
Great performance and workers provided excellent customer service. Made the evening enjoyable. Encourage others to go see Broadway at the Saenger
YaDonna West
I totally enjoyed Johnny Mathis here at the Saenger Theatre!
Ulonda Smith
Always a great place to enjoy a concert
CDF
I love the Saenger Theatre. It is a small, intimate theatre. I personally prefer to be seated in the balcony area. The theatre is absolutely beautiful inside. It feels like you are seated in an old Grecian courtyard. They even have stars twinkling in the ceiling. The acoustics are wonderful. I have seen many plays and/or musicals preformed there. I highly recommend this theatre.
Unique Lee
We saw Hamilton there - amazing! Concessions are too expensive. Restrooms had the longest yet fastest moving line I've ever seen! Security check was only mildly annoying - they're definitely efficient. Some seats are awful (view on sides of front orchestra are completely obstructed by lighting poles - we moved). Beautiful interior design.
Jonathan Choate
This is a beautiful old theater. I saw a musical here which it worked well for, but I've talked to people who saw rock shows here as well.
The building is reminiscent of the guilded age decor in the lobby and the ceiling of the theater is covered in twinkling stars.
I would definitely return here to see another show.
Lucas Rifkin
This is a great venue and it feels like you're outside under the stars or in outer space when you're watching the show, and surrounded by ancient Greek or Roman buildings fit with pillars and in pristine condition. There are many cavernous hallways here. Everything is new and bright and has been recently redone sometime after Katrina. Be aware that the drinks are extremely expensive. Still an awesome place to see a show.
Tyler Stracener
We came to Saenger Theatre for Broadway's Production of Phantom of the Opera and everything was amazing! When you first walk in and see the rooftop with dazzling chandeliers, it is breathtaking for people like me who have not been to a Theatre before. They have plenty of concession stands and seating and the twinkling star roof was beautiful. The only reason I did not give 5 stars was due to the men's restroom being 3 flights of stairs down and the walkways not being wide enough around the concession stands leading to a lot of blocked traffic. Other than that, everything was wonderful.
joe Hyer
Love it. Acoustics aesthetics, staff are great. Expensive drinks, but we got to keep the Saenger goin.
Vanessa al Rashida
This place is so magical. The ceiling is filled with hundreds of stars and the theater itself is as if you have stepped back into an opera house in the 1800s in France. My mom and I went there for Hamiton in March and we has prime seats to watch the Broadway hit. It was a great place to see this show and would recommend coming to this theater for any show. Even though we were in the balcony, it did not take us very long to get out of the theater :-P. Also the walk back to our hotel was very safe despite it being around 11pm at night. I would definitely come back if there was a great play like Hamilton there again.
shelle Keyes
Besides it being like 75° degrees inside! Everything was wonderful! the building is beautiful, bathrooms were clean staff was friendly.. just need to turn the temperature down please
Nebula
Such a beautiful theatre. I saw the Smashing Pumpkin's here and it was a mind blowing experience. They have a bar which isn't too expensive. The seating is comfortable and the sound is pretty decent. The theatre itself is like a beautiful planetarium the interior is stunning.
Bryce Solomon
The Lion King musical was awesome here!
Michael Hays
Ive always loved the Saenger. It's beautiful, even though it's in a bit of a scetch area, then again, most good theatres are. The seating can feel a little tight, but if you see a good show, that won't matter. Sound is fantastic, as I am poor, so I'm usually on the balcony, and it still sounds great.
Patricia O'Hara Ricke
This was a wonderful show. The characters were lots of fun. You definitely want to see the show.
Don Jackson
Great show.I wish more of the lineup of the musical were as uplifting and fun as this one was
Nicole Long
Beautiful theater. I went for a soft jazz performance and unfortunately I was distracted by the squeaking chairs pretty much the entire time. Not ideal for a quiet concert. Hopefully the chairs gets upgraded soon, or at least oiled!
lucy louis
Beautiful theater! Ornately detailed, love the "stars" in the ceiling, various statues, there isn't a bad seat in the house., and that's inside the auditorium. Not to mention the foyer where you have 3 separate entrances. There is a bar and snack area on all 3 floors. The ushers are very friendly and helpful. We were late for a previous show because they had pushed the show up by 1 hour and the usher, a very kind gentleman, began to go and look for different seating for us to keep us on the lower level. Once he returned he began to tell us what had already taken place with the play. Once seated he came back twice to let us know why they were referring to something earlier. Fantastic...I wish I knew his name. When in the city, the theatre is an attraction all by itself, but I dont thi k it's open for tours but it should be.
Travis Gould
It was very busy the night I went, but the staff kept everything smoothly moving. It was easy to find everything, like the snack bars, bathrooms, and seating. If people could not find their seats, then staff were on-hand and quick to show them to their seats. The theatre is clean and comfortable. The theatre is a mix Spanish, French, and Greco-Roman decor and sculptures. The ceiling is lit with faux stars, which is quite calming and beautiful. The sound quality of the theatre is excellent.
Marshall Aberle
I have revised this to 5 stars after the Saenger made it right.
I appreciate you Jacques, we had a great time at RuPaul.
Romina Lastra
Going to The Saenger is a wonderful experience. Just being there alone was incredible with its amazing decoration and attentive service but the show in itself was phenomenal with fantastic acoustics!
Also don't forget to get their valet service, makes the experience even more enjoyable
Jordan Weinberger
I felt as if I was stepping into another world. It is by far one of the most beautiful places I have ever been too in NOLA and I am a native!!! Great service as well employees are nice and helpful the only thing that could be a negative is the snack/bar prices which I have come to expect from places like move theaters. Overall for my first ever visit I will for sure be recommending and returning whenever I can!!!
Hospitality Of New Orleans
The Saenger theater is a beautiful place to visit. It is new refurnished and the staff their are great. It always has such great events from concerts, comedies, plays to musicals. They also have great events for kids. the inside of the theater the interior is stunningly beautiful.
Barry Schmidt
Stunning theater. Great accoustics.
Karen Heigle
Loved it. The performance was awesome, the cast was awesome, and reliving something I saw when I was 8 was undescribable. I felt like a child again as I sang every song. Uplifting memories.
Thanks so very much for making this possible. And to the entire cast and crew, " JOB WELL DONE". CONGRATULATIONS
Arianna G
Went to the Maxwell concert here tonight. Everything was great, from the people checking tickets to the bar tenders. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Troy is, hands down, the best bartender in the theater. I enjoy every experience I have here. I will always be a return visitor of The Saenger Theater.
Luis Colon
Beautiful Venue in the heart of Canal street.
James Gonzales
Tina Turner Tribute was amazing
RJ jx
Beautiful theater. Drinks are offensively overpriced!
Maverick Farr
I love this venue. In my experience, the staff does a great job of getting the guests what they want/need in a timely and friendly fashion. The shows are great, staff is friendly, and it stands as an icon of entertainment to the great city it’s held by.
Dale Hanan
This is one of the best places to watch a concert or play. We saw Hamilton and had a great time, and as everyone already knows you have to see Hamilton. It's a great production and should be seen by any Broadway fan.
Robert “Robb Knyteshadeaux” Sisson
The Saenger Theatre is undoubtedly a cherished jewel of our city. The history of the venue, not to mention the incredibly detailed architecture and woodcraft, are just truly stunning. Any show would be worth seeing just to be able to bask in the sheer beauty of this special place. Fortunately for all enthusiastic theatre thespians, as well as your occasional theatre goers. They continually show many different Broadway and popular plays. Along with music concerts and some of the funniest comedians on the planet. So if you have while visiting our city to grab a show or just take time out to see it from the streetcar on Canal. The Saenger Theatre is assuredly worth a visit.
Monica Morel
Saw the Lion King on this visit! Love the Saenger, been going since I was a child.
Cobhalla Games
Saw an amazing play here, the building is beautiful and the staff are amazing and friendly. The bathroom situation is more limited than the size seems like it should be.
The drinks are very nice and the bartenders are knowledgeable and friendly
Biker Doux
Even though our seats were way up in the upper balcony, the sound was impressive..
And with binoculars, the show was a treat.
Cassandra Puderbaugh (Cassie)
Went and saw a viewing of Monty Python and the Holy Grail with a Q&A featuring John Cleese! The theatre is absolutely gorgeous inside. I was completely mesmerized by all the twinkling lights and artwork in the place. I can't wait to go back!
Leigh “Leisus Pabo” Callahan
The theater is beautiful. The acoustics are perfect. I've seen many shows here and have never been disappointed. Do not miss a performance here if you love the performer!
Marcio Coronho
Nicely done. The renovations and retrofitting of this venue turned out amazing. I was here to watch Yes. Well ARW! State of the art audio and lighting. Confortable seats. Grand bathrooms and efficient bars. It's amazing walking trough that gallery outside the theater not knowing what you will find inside.
George Oliver
It's difficult not to be completely wowed by the renovation done to the Saenger Theater. Anyone who remembers going to movies there will especially appreciate how much better it looks and feels. The theater is as much a destination as any acts that are there. Unfortunately for some of us, the ticket prices are very high, which makes frequent visits impossible, but that's the cost of bringing it back to life. New Orleans needed this, and it's as spectacular as venue as any.
Veronica Brittenum
The was my first time at the Saenger Theater and my first time attending a theatrical performance and it was wonderful. I was gifted a ticket to see An American in Paris as part of their Broadway series and although I was feeling under the weather I went anyway and the experience was exceptional. The theater is stunning and the ambience just adds to the whole theater experience. Arrive early as the performances start on time and this will give you the opportunity for refreshments if desired. Parking was a little hard to find but typical for this area of New Orleans. Street parking is limited if you don't arrive early; however, there are several parking lots in the immediate vicinity. I was running late and parked in a lot near the Saenger so that I could it to the show on time and the cost was $40. Albeit, that entitled me to park there for 10 hours but l was only there for the show so I took an "L" for running late. The bathrooms have long lines durig the intermission but move really quick and bathrooms were exceptionally clean despite the high volume of traffic. I highly recommend the Saenger Theater, whether a special treat for yourself or that special someone, and you will not be disappointed.

Beautiful place and an an amazing show!

We saw the Avett Brothers at the Saenger. They put on a great show. Our seats were in the balcony and the sound was perfect. It took a little searching to find our seats since it was our first time there but the staff was very helpful. They had a bar That was expensive but they always are at those things and you're not supposed to worry about prices when you go out. 😁

The Saenger Theatre is an iconic piece of the artistic culture in the most culturally unique city in this country. The addition of the deep blue ceiling with hundreds of tiny starlike lights helps to make the post-Katrina version of the building even more beautiful than before the storm. We have seen dozens of shows in this venue and have never been disappointed with the quality of the production or the visual and audio quality of the venue. This production of Rent was thoroughly entertaining, and I am looking forward to seeing Hamilton at the Saenger next season!
Josh&Yvette Guidry
Beautiful theatre and excellent productions
Joshua Lim
Such a beautiful venue. Designed on make you feel like you're actually outside under a night sky, complete with twinkling stars. They often incorporate them into the shows. I absolutely love seeing shows here.
Errol Leger
Architecture was impressive with great atmosphere. Like being in a Greek courtyard, under a starry night.
Les Miserable was very well performed and with great stage sets.
Good security..
But they will take your snacks and bottled water. Must buy their 4$ bottled water.
AJ Crosby
Beautiful Coliseum atmosphere! Historical! Amazing shows!
Tera Houston
One of my favorite places to visit in NOLA. I’ve seen several Broadway musicals and also attended an Orchestra. I never leave short of amazed. The Saenger is a step back in time to a state of beauty and elegance. Being inside this grand hall is inspirational.
Roman Cannon
Saw The Lion King! It was awesome!
S Red
Saw ZZ Top here....the seating were small spaces and leg room sucked for having to keep climbing over people (we were in the middle of the row.) Drinks and even water was really expensive, but the place was clean and very beautiful. Could see the stage really well from the balcony and sounds were great too! Could do less of the drunks screaming and falling all over the place but if you can afford it...have at it lol.
I'm a smoker but I really did appreciate the fact that we had to smoke outside. It kept the air clear for everyone viewing!
L B
Wish people had actually worn masks. The cast asked audience to wear but only a few wore.
Robyn Moore
A decent sized theatre full of history, jaw dropping architecture and comfy chairs. Saw Evanescence live in 2016 here. Awesome acoustics and easy to get around.
Upside: Public cable cars available right outside the venue
Downside: Vendors and concession's are pricy.
Tom L
A gorgeous venue and a great show. We sat way up by the top and it was still easy to see the stage, plus we got to see the architectural flourishes that we'd have missed from up close. Wonderful!
Mary Ann McEachen
I had a laughable encounter with the management, unfortunately, but they were wonderful. Southern hospitality at its best!! If you guys are reading this, I'm sure you'd remember the crazy Canadian last St. Patrick's Day. You two were angels that night!
Susan Zimlich
The performance was good and the theater is beautiful; however, what they don't publish is that they will search your bag before entering for outside food and drink. They do not advertise this and they do not make exceptions for medical needs. Instead they want to charge you $4 for a bottle of water.
kyle washington
Always a pleasure to be in that theater. Not a bad seat in the house.
Brooke LeBlanc
The Saenger Theatre is historic and beautiful. I love seeing shows there simply to admire the building. Seating is comfortable and not to cramped. The beauty of the theatre will surely add to your experience at the Saenger!
Cheri' Ben-Iesau
One of the city's most magnificent venues. Exquisite care was taken in the detailed refurbishment. If your entertainment stinks you can still take pleasure in your surroundings.
Jose Rivera
Very confortable. Great service and kind staff. Parking is right across the street. We are here now to see The Color Purple. I know it will be great too. Watch their show line-up and pick a show. You will enjoy it and maybe become a season ticket holder like us. Enjoy.
Jerame Cramer
Beautiful theater. Refurbished after Katrina. Bars and bathrooms upstairs and downstairs. T-shirts and souvenirs usually for sale in main entrance. Inside the theater don't forget to look up and see the Stars.
oxpatchreb
Iconic, historic place to see a show. Such a wonderful experience. Something you have to do with the family at least once every couple years. But the prices..... Good lord. It could be 50% cheaper and we still wouldn't be able to do it more than a couple times a year as a family of 5.
Dan Goldstein
What an awesome theater! It was so beautiful inside. From the outside you have no concept of how nice it is inside. We sat on the balcony and the view of the stage and the sound were excellent.
Michelle M
We had seats in the suites. Seats were comfy. Private lounge was spacious and had a separate bar and restroom.
Savannah Barr
Waitress was amazing! Very well done and such a beautiful theater.
Ayoyinka
The most unforgettable experience ever. Where do I start from? The stars on the ceiling are reminiscent of the stars in the sky on a clear night. The sculptures which are embedded partially in the walls remind me of Greek gods and goddesses. I would definitely go back there!
Ellis Callahan
Loved it had a wonderful time at RuPaul's drag race
Kyle Washington
This building is classic New Orleans and the best for a play or concert.
Michael Schmid
EXCELLENT theatre!!! Highly recommend!
Richard Brown
Beautifully appointed theater, excellent view from almost any seat, and enough well-placed bars to keep your drink wait to a minimum. One of my favorite venues in New Orleans.
Sarah Hampton
Everything was great. We sat pretty far back Orchestra right and still had great visibility and sound was good too. Only reason I took a star is because I didn't get snacks or drinks so I know nothing on that.
Skel Lindberg
Saenger is a great venue. Hamilton was Amazing. Dropped 1 star due to the lack of bathrooms. Waiting in lines and having to traverse multiple flights of stairs is annoying. It's also lame that they don't offer free cups of ice water. A $4 bottle of luke warm water was the best they could do. All in all the place is beautiful and I can't wait to see my next show/concert there. My picture was taken from the 1st row suites on the balcony (section P 1 & 2).
Sharon Bone
Enjoyed the price is right at the saenger theater tonight it's absolutely beautiful inside had a wonderful time.
Verne Champagne
The seats are horribly uncomfortable and next season's offerings are complete crap. That being said, usually the Saenger brings in great shows and shows them with style and elegance. Our biggest complaint is that throughout the show, the Saenger allows patrons to come and go as they please--they should restrict this completely to respect those who are on time to the show...the curtain time is clearly marked on the ticket--after the house lights go down, I'm sorry, but you've missed your show.
Anthony Robertson
A gorgeous setting for any production. Seen "Set It Off" the play and was in awe of the architecture inside. Reminds me of the Midland in Kansas City.
G. M. Reiss
I love this venue. It is beautiful inside. The seats are comfortable, just could use more leg room. Sound quality was good. We had no troubles seeing the stage.
Maria Stroud
Excellent plays, we have evjoyed ourselves every time we have been. The Lion King was absolutely AMAZING! The White Christmas was so reminiscing of the movie I used to watch when I was young. It was so refreshing. The play "The color purple" was so powerful and enjoyable. We are going to see 3 plays this year. Aladin, Elf and School of Rock. Can't wait.
Faith Spotts
Saw “Hamilton” here last night and it was priceless. The theater is beautiful, you can tell a lot of thought was put into renovation. Service was fast and efficient. A 5-star experience.
Katerial Wiggins
The Lion King was great I loved it
Loryn Papania
What a gorgeous New Orleans gem! I have seen so many outstanding shows and concerts here. Most recently, Phantom of the Opera. The place is just so enchanting and the sound is magnificent.
Michael Dudevszky
This is the most beautiful theatre in New Orleans. It was badly damaged in the flood in 2005. They took several years start the renovation, but the results are amazing. The theater has great acoustics. They attention to detail is amazing. I go to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage festival every year. Gov't Mule usually plays during this time. They played the last few years at the Saenger. Probably the best Gov't Mule shows.
itamar zukerman
Very nice place to see shows.,
Don't be alarmed by the seat numbers...
Greg Caro
Enjoyed a night out with my wife Jenny and friends at Tom Segura
Reginald Simmons
Beautiful venue. Had a blast.
Sam Wagner
Final night: Orleans
Hadestown, so aptly named
Last show: Road to Hell

It would have been 5 stars but the concession stands were lacking. They ran out of popcorn extremely fast. They lady ignored a customer when he was talking to her. That's rude. And $4 for a $1.50 bottle of water and $4 for a $1 box of candy is just ridiculous. I wasn't the only person with the same complaints. Several people in the line said the same thing.
Sharvell J
Great venue and musicals!
Ellen Manno
Love the Saenger, great play, outstanding singing, hate the prices on concessions.. $4 popcorn, $4 bottle of water....outrageous
Ariana Webber
Wonderfully courteous staff and all around gorgeous venue.
Ryan Fox
I went to a Final Fantasy concert here at the beginning of the year and was thoroughly impressed with the classic feel and elegance of the building. I was awestruck by how well made this theater was and would be honored to visit it again in the future.
Lauren Menard
A nice venue. Love the ceiling. Side balcony viewing is especially nice.
Chantal Kullman Reinlieb
Beautiful Place with wonderful entertainment!
Phil Morris
5 stars and then some!!! I have attended numerous concerts from a variety of venues in my life, but have never, EVER experienced such opulence in a venue as the Saenger! Before this, I thought the Shreveport Municipal Center (the home of the renowned Louisiana Hayride) was nice, but in retrospect what makes that place special is the history that happened there in the day of Elvis and others in the days of Sun records. Downright trashy compared to the Saenger. Then again the performer we came to see, the incomparable Tony Bennett contributed significantly to the overall experience. Kudos Saenger! Looking forward to our next experience here with you all!!!
dll
the saengers built beautiful entertainment palaces a hundred years ago in the south. this one is exceptional. special musical xmas carol was very entertaining. if the nutcracker is for girls, this show is the boy's equivalent. great show, seemed like a thousand sold out seats on xmas eve.
Eric Umbreit
Lovely theatre on Canal in the heart of New Orleans. The place had a wonderful feel and it does a great job for broadways and plays. The drink and food cost is really reasonable and the lines are quick.
Troy M
The venue was easily accessible and had a good sound structure. There are multiple exits easing the egress and both Uber and Lyft drivers were readily available. Good experience overall and close to multiple hotels and the French Quarter.
Sam Mccrea
Experienced Lion King. Great play
Ann Hijuelos
This is a beautiful venue to see a show! I dock one star because the bathrooms are super small given the number of people that this place holds, so expect to stand in a very long line during intermission.
Schultheis Productions
Excellent theater, good seats throughout a bit small tho
Beth Hood
Live event technicians and performers who travel to theaters all over the world talk about this theater as being one of the most beautiful buildings in the world. This theater is my favorite place in the world. Everything from the acoustics to the architecture is phenomenal.
Tom SuperNova
Nice Theatre, great location nearby the french quarter. Tickets were reasonably priced and we were able to get seats the day before. Sometimes has stand up, mostly plays.
Michele Jackson
I love seeing concerts and performances at the Sanger!! By far the best venue in New Orleans!! But that's because it's not as big as other venues so if it's a "big name" performance, get tickets early!!
Rita Zirkenbach
Moody Blues were fantastic! The Saenger is a beautiful that has been restored. The only draw back is the price of cocktails. They have a great new feature of delivering cocktails to your seat.
Mary FULLER
Our group saw Jerry Seinfield last Friday night. We sat in the balcony and our view of the stage was very good. The seats were comfortable and there was adequate legroom
Kim Welan
A bit odd to go to a rock show and actually sit down, but acoustics are good and the seat comes in handy when you ger tired of jumping up and down yelling to your favorite song. (Of course, if you want to actually see the band you have to stand up like everyone else!
JeAnne Swinley
Have seen a few concerts here now including Morrissey and Elvis Costello. What a fantastic renovation. A beautiful space, wonderful acoustics, and not a bad seat in the house.
Mike Buckholtz
Great show, friendly staff but the prices for drinks and snacks were too expensive, 4 bottles of water and 4 M&M cost $40.00.
Atiana Payne
Came to see a comedy show. Chilly inside the theatre. Seating is very confusing. But the performance was good. For the amount we paid thought we'd have better seats but nope Nosebleeds.
Brian Quarterman
Perfect ambiance for any performance. Amazing theater with zero flaws. A true NOLA treasure.
Aaron Humphreys
Really enjoyed watching the Grinch musical here in November 2016. The Saenger is a great venue. Just make sure you give yourself an extra thirty minutes to find parking because the traffic gets really jammed up as one show lets out and the other begins.
Trace Leonard
My first show here and the performance was awesome. I would definitely recommend coming here
Nana Deb
Saw an amazing version of Phantom of the Opera. (Have seen before in the 90's...was as good as then!)Good seats, great sound, lovely place. Will be going again to see more shows!
Francisco Mendez
Excellent small venue. It’s quite beautiful on the inside. The staff was really friendly and they had a good amount of police officers, which was nice. The acoustics of the venue were really good.
David Zhou
Watched Hamilton here and it was fantastic - audio was sometimes a little bad but nothing dealbreaking
Lindann Miller
Our seats out great. One very large problem-HANDICAP ACCESSIBLE BATHROOMS are NOT SUFFICIENT!!
THIS MUST BE RESOLVED!
John H. Nye
Beautiful restoration of an old theater, but they need to spend some money updating the sound system and acoustics for modern music groups of today. Sound is not that good in the balcony, but the seats smell musty, but I guess it is an old theater.
C. M.
Always have great staff at concerts, very clean bathrooms, theater is always clean and the climate control (a/c and heating) is comfortable, excellent acoustics, overall 5 stars
Sandy G
Hamilton was great! Looking forward to more entertainment.
Jada Brielle
Nice theatre. I visited here twice to go see the Lion King Musical and Chris Rock. Had a great experience both times. Beautiful building and great seats no matter where you sit.
Ryan Schulze
My wife and I just attended a show at the Saenger Theatre. Definitely our favorite theater in New Orleans. Tickets can be a bit pricey, but it is one of a kind in terms of history and being a fun place to see a show.
KENDRICK ONSTAD
Beautifully restored theatre lobby and great place to see the touring production of Hamilton. Exquisite decor in auditorium with night sky starlight effect ceiling.
Judy Stutzenbecker
I find that the seats downstairs center give me a backache. You can't bring food in. Not even mints. Your purses are checked...but I do enjoy the new offering of ordering sandwiches and or a drink..brought to your seat.
Johnathan Durr
Absolutely beautiful theater. Had a complete facelift a while back and it shows. Great place to see a show. I’ve seen plays, concerts and comedy there - all great.
Li-chinna Smith
Beautiful, beautiful place. Visited here for my 33rd bday to watch a live Tyler Perry play. First play in America and Tyler Perry is one 9f my favourite. Love it.
Murphy Martin
Beautiful place. Great for feeling like you are apart of the performance.
OCTAVIA JOHNSON
The ambiance was really nice however please do not get balcony seat. This place is not ailment friendly, I almost gave my ticket away so many darn steps.. I mean I got my cardio in for the rest of the year.
Bradley
Beautiful historic venue, but this theater should have never hosted an event like Tipper and Friends, due to the demographics of the audience there was only one bathroom open, staff were a bit unaccommodating/rude, and there is no dance floor
Teri Knouse
Just saw Kinky Boots. Loved the singing and dancing. I thought that the story was too drawn out though.
The actors for the main part had a horrible time projecting their voices. As a result the majority of the story line as lost. If this was a theater problem it certainly needs to be corrected.
S Johnson
Beautiful with great acoustics. Well located in the heart of New Orleans downtown.
Anita Seruntine
The Saenger has been around a long time and it didn't disappoint. It is still beautiful inside. Saw the Jersey Boys and they got a standing ovation!!!
Breana Hobson
Saw a live musical of The Color Purple. Great performance, beautiful venue, and did offer food and drink services..like chips, drinks, candy, soda, and alcohol. Enjoyable place.
Jet Set
Fantastic, historic building. Beautiful inside. Parking is pricey nearby. If you drive, pay extra to park at the Saenger parking, it's worth it and safer. Walk only in large groups at night. Very nice venue.
Bobby Jinkins
Cool, classic venue. I don't recommend buying any concessions there, it's waaay overpriced.
