Reviews of The Larry Keeton Theatre

Great dinner show for the entire family!! Great food! Bring your own alcoholic beverages…they will even uncork your wine! Awesome talent in the play!! We saw White Christmas.. it was splendid! I’m even considering season tickets! Definitely will be back!

The theater is in a historic old school building. Byob and they will provide you with a wine glass. Servers are volunteers from Rotary club to dance groups that accept donations for their cause. Meals change to match the theme of the show a little bit. Choice off coffee, tea, water. Soda for $1. Then sit back and enjoy a professional quality musical or play by the community actors.

Love this place! The food served before hand is always amazing, and the plays are unbelievably spectacular! The cast and crew always work hard to make it as professional and high quality as possible. Going to the Larry Keeton Theater is no different than going to TPAC, or other similarly big named theater houses. If you can watch a play here, rest assured, it will be a night to remember.

I grew up in north Jersey where we have a thriving local theater scene. This cozy venue in Hermitage has dinner and a show, which is nice. Tip heavily and buy lots of cupcakes and cookies when Troop 249 Boy Scouts are your servers. You'll be helping an inner city troop fundraise! :) Nunsense (and a high school production of Grease, hence the non sequitur set) is currently running (5/4/22).

First time to see a production of “Once Upon a Mattress “ and I thought I was on Broadway!

Was so professional! I almost forgot this was community theater! I only wish all of this talent could be housed in a beautiful theater.
The building where stage is located is an old school house so upon arriving you wonder if the caliber Of the production is worth the drive over as the building leaves much to be desired! First impressions DO count!
Well I was totally surprised and amazed at the
First class entertainment I was about to witness! So worth your while to see this fantastic production for only $25 if you can overlook the building. I definitely will attend future productions in hopes the talent is as
Amazing as I witnessed tonight!

On one hand I'm always excited for people to do theater and be successful at it...
I saw a show this past weekend and it was all right. Typical local community theater fair. The people there were wonderfully nice and the atmosphere was great as well.
This seemed like a theater situation that caters to older folks and people who prefer less edgy sellout shows. Unfortunately they don't offer a great version of productions just okay.
However it's very important for us to continue to do theater on every level and I'm super pleased that I got to see what they were offering. I'll probably come back and see other shows because like any community theater the quality will vary from show to show. So it's very possible that the next show will be wonderful. Plus I should also add that I saw mamma Mia and I'm not the biggest Abba fan in the world. I might be biased against the show in general which is why I had this experience. I'll just have to come back and adjust my review once I see a second or even additional performances. Kudos to the cast and crew for such hard work because the audience seem to have a wonderful time.

Great shows. I have been here several times and the shows never fail. The talent is outstanding and the support and dedication of the volunteers and community is great. Just saw Nunsense and it was fabulous. Inexpensive for dinner and a show, too
Gordon Rolston
Good meal and a great play. It was a wonderful afternoon. All new dining tables and chairs.

There was a lot to like about the experience and one disappointing component. My girlfriend and I were looking for something to do this past weekend and found this theater on a Google search. They were showing the Wizard of Oz. It was very affordable at $30 per person, including dinner. The food was decent, not great, but very reasonable for the five dollar additional charge. The wait and serving staff were very cordial and did a good job. The theater was an old school cafeteria that probably works better than some of the local theaters I have been to in the past, since they had a stage. The Wizard of Oz featured actors from probably six years old to 65 years old. The main cast of actors was extraordinary for local theater, particularly Dorothy. However, the actress who played the wicked witch of the west, struggled with her lines throughout the course of the performance and really lessened the quality of the play. She stumbled over three or four lines and her delivery may have been the worst I’ve ever seen in theater. I noticed numerous guests in the crowd looking around with puzzled faces at her less than stellar performance. With that said, we still enjoyed our evening and found ourselves economically entertained for a Saturday night. I would recommend trying this place for theater lovers. Overall, a fun night out and we will try it again.

I have been to many dinner theaters over the years and this is the best I have ever been to. It's a small venue, but the two productions I've seen so far were extremely well done! Food was good, theater was good ... overall, an excellent experience. Looking forward to getting season tickets for next season in order to continue the experience!
Dan Sellers
Great show. We saw wizard of Oz and sat up close. The performance was great, the sets were well designed, and the actors/actresses did a great job!! The food was good and the service was top notch. I wish we lived closer to go back more often!

The dinner theater is why I went. The theater production was excellent with professional cast. The atmosphere is sort of a school gymnasium type room. Food is very cafeteria-like. But it was affordable. You can bring your own wine and they'll provide the glasses and corkscrew.

Great fun and great show. You can even BYOB. The ushers and servers are HS Drama team volunteers. Nice open tables and seating more comfortable and flexible. I can't wait for next production. What a gem in Donelson.
Kelly Stewart
My first time at Larry Keaton to see 'Steel Magnolias.' Sound system and sight lines are good. Not traditional theatre seating but instead tables and chairs that they can move around for their dinner theatre shows. I enjoyed the experience.
Ann Donahoe
"Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat" was so well done. A lot of talent from all age groups. The meal before the musical was delicious. Runs until February 29 at Keeton Theater in Donelson. Don't miss it.

Wonderfull theater, thanks to Larry Keeton and the folks at Wilson County Bank & Trust, the performing actors, and the many volunteers who support and work to keep it going. We, the neighbors and all those who participate, thank you for your efforts.
