Reviews of Varsity Theater
Excellent venue. the outside looks like the classic theatre, the inside is super unique. there was plenty of room for everyone for the concert I attended. though quite loud, the sound was good. the people working were very friendly and helpful. getting through ticketing and security was a piece of cake and despite it being a very small lobby area they had plenty of people to get everyone through quickly and efficiently.
the only knock i would have is that there should be more signage or direction as to what the lines are. I arrived about 2 hours before doors open and didn't realize i was in the Meet-and-Greet line until i was inside. i had to go back outside and hop in a different line. that line turned out to be the Fast Pass line to which i needed to move to the general admission line. some simple signage would have solved all that and I wouldn't have wasted my time in the wrong line. whatever though, i had a good time and it didn't negatively impact my experience.
Came here a few months back for the first time by myself and as I women I felt safe walking about 2-3 blocks from the ramp even after the show (I did call my sister to keep me company). The parking situation isn’t the best, there is street parking but a ramp is also nearby.
The one thing about this place is the BATHROOMS, I was a little confused at first + they’re gorgeous! I would love to have an event here. There was some couches upstairs which was nice.
I would love to go back for another concert, love the vibes here!
We had our wedding reception at the Varsity Theater and it was the best decision we made regarding our wedding (aside from getting married in the first place)!! The venue is so unique and romantic. Every one of our guests was blown away by the beauty of the venue and how affordable it was. We had the best night ever! Also - shout out to Sandy - she was so awesome to work with! #ballandchheang
Great place to see a show. My 1st concert there. Last time was a comedy show, and that was equally an experience just as great.
The varsity is a great venue in the dinkytown area. I think it matches acoustic or more relaxed vibes best.
I have been here several times and will never hesitate to go back. I won't look forward to parking, however.
Super fun venue! The lighting was great, and it was decorated in a cool, unique way. It was very artistic and I enjoyed that. The whole atmosphere is great. The bathrooms are super cool looking! It also felt very safe while I was there, and everything was very clean.
Typically go to Hardcore, Pop Punk and Emo shows. Place houses them very well. Large will plenty of floor space so everyone can be as engaged as they want too. Props to the sound engineers, always a good balance
Umm.... let's see. The staff was great. Attentive service, but not sure how clean it is. People that come here are not super great. Got body checked WAY too hard in the pit and saw two fights break out. Saw a guy go limp and was carried out in a stretcher. I ended up bruising my back and ribs. 2 days later and BAM, I'm out for two weeks with Covid-19 most likely from the sticky floor. Sound was good in the middle only and beer was a little pricy too. A true metal show I guess. I'm getting too old tho. 😩
My new favorite theater. The architecture there is amazing and the fact that they supply free water at the concerts is a life saver. Much love to all the staff!!
What a fun venue! The atmosphere was fantastic - decor, lighting, layout. I've been to very few venues that I'm actually cold in, this being one of them. That said, that is something I welcome - especially when it's 90° out! The bar prices are reasonable for a concert venue. The premium seats are comfortable and worth the price of admission if not solely for the fact you actually get a seat! The only bad thing I can say about the venue was the audio peaked quite a few times throughout the show. Not enough to ruin the experience, but just enough to keep you on guard. Overall, I was extremely happy with the venue and look forward to returning for more shows in the future.
This Place was absolutely Spectacular!!! I went to see Marianas Trench and not only were they absolutely Outstanding, the Venue was Incredible!!!!! This place is such an amazing place to go and watch a concert!!! It was my first time there and the atmosphere was right up my alley! The bathroom stall I used was albeit a little snug (not "fluffy" friendly), but it made up for in charm!! If you have or get the chance to see a show here: Don't. Pass. It. Up.
Excellent establishment, clean, well run, and intriguing. Very much different from your typically venue, and the staff was friendly and helpful all the way through the show. They even had a couple guys in the crowd ensuring the mosh pit couldn't ruin them fun for other people. I strongly recommend this location for any music concerts!
Have been here twice for concerts and it's a great space; love the decor. Had the honor of seeing Fever 333 here for their solo concert, and it was the perfect space for them. If you can splurge for the VIP seating, it gives you an awesome vantage point, and if you're not into being crushed by the crowd, it gives you the choice to enjoy the concert from a non-crowded space.
The best to support the aspiring artist. Watching plays held by BLC's student is nice place to go for a date or a relaxing productive evening.
Attended the Jordan Davis/Kassi Ashton show last night (1/18/2020)
Great little venue. Loved the design and loved how it was small and you are able to see the artist on stage, even from the back. The sound was great.
Bathroom set up could be nicer, it was hard to get in and out but they looked really cool
The bar had plenty of options to meet everyone's needs.
Wish there was closer parking, but that is what you get for going to a venue in Dinky Town. Overall I had a great experience and would attened another event here.
More EDM artists need to come here because this venue is WAY BETTER than Skyway! Better sound quality, better lighting and visuals, great floor space, seating and balcony sections. The bathrooms and hand washing area are so bougie! The staff is great. This seems like a hole in the wall venue but it needs more love, attention and respect. Five star experience for sure! ⭐👏
Went here for a Badflower concert, and it was amazing! It's all standing room except for a single row of balcony seating, but it is still a very intimate setting. The acoustics were great, and the bands were always easy to hear over the crowd. The bathrooms were a little bit on the small side, so there was a bit of waiting for them to clear up.
04/03/2019 The latest show I attended was The Interrupters. It was a sold out show. Compared to other venues the Varsity stepped up to prove their value by handling unruly patrons with a calmness & diligence. Thank you for keeping the calmer fans safe!
Saw Sabrina Claudio last night! She has the most amazing vocals I have ever heard live.
I’ve been to this very cool venue, but last night I went upstairs & there crazy structured bathrooms. I felt like I was in a luxurious bathroom cave. It was really cool.
Nonetheless, security wasn’t too invasive, crowd wasn’t too crazy, sound was perfect, there was a cute bar upstairs & downstairs, and AC flowed nicely when it was getting a little hot.
Great intimate venue to enjoy your favorite bands.
Amazing view of the stage from anywhere except the delightfully unique bathrooms.
Security was very friendly and helpful as well as the bartenders and other staff.
I was very impressed my first time there to enjoy The Darkness and The Dead Dean's!
An amazing experience all around, I look forward to returning!
Johnny Marr is one of the nicest people I have ever met. He goes out of his way to do special things for people at his shows. The Varsity is so beautiful, a rare beauty in today's world. She is a well cared for and loved venue. Anyone that loves history should make it a point to visit this gorgeous site.
The interior athestic of stones, drapes and lights is so unique there isn't even words to describe it... it must be seen and experienced with ones own eyes. Absurdly well done. Unique but still not ugly. Btw Earthgang was lit 😂 …
First time to this venue and it did not disappoint. Decent variety for beverages and a pretty intimate setting. The bathrooms threw me through a loop but I actually liked them. Let me know what you think haha! A minor detail but an important one: excellent air circulation. Crowded venue with people dancing and such. I felt no change in temperature. Impressed!
Great venue, with a very unique atmosphere. Has two bars, great acoustics, and a creative bathroom design. Great place to see live music.
I love this intimate venue! We saw 3 bands here in one night; Kulick, The Faim and Andy Black. The sound and atmosphere were great, $4 coat check, fast bar service. Yes, it's $3 for a glass of pop, but free refills all night. If you want to see bands up close for a cheap price, this is the place. Most street parking is 2 hours, the ramp 3 blocks away was only $4.
Smaller venue for more intimate concerts. Audio/visual could be better, though it’s decent.
Place is pretty cool, the bathrooms are a new experience. Area is a little sketchy, got asked more then once if i had some magic mushrooms....
Fun Small Concert Venue In Minneapolis. Dorothy was simply astounding as usual! Spirit Animal twisted my mind! Such an amazing great band! Big Things are the horizon for Steve Cooper and Spirit Animal! You Have Been Warned!
Had so much fun at this theater! Such an intimate space to see a show, and the inside is cute. Can’t wait to come back for another show!
Cool venue. If you have upstairs seats head up there to that bar rather than wait at the lower bar.
I'm so glad this venue is becoming more popular because I think it's so much better than a lot of the other venues in the Twin Cities! Security is friendly and effective, and the other staff is also always great. The venue itself is charming and intimate and even the bathrooms are fun. I've seen such a variety of artists ranging from punk to EDM and I can never wait to be back! :)
Gorgeous venue!! First time here to see grandson and Royal & The Serpent. Has easily become one of my favorites.
One of the coolest venues I've ever been to! Awesome staff, very friendly and involved with making sure we all got in quickly and efficiently. Inside was a fun and vibrant atmosphere! Great bar service. And the bathrooms really are amazing here. Seems weird to reccomend but check out the bathrooms! Clean, pretty, and have a lot more privacy in each stall, though the sink area is definitely more like a lounge area, which fits this places vibe perfectly!
Great venue for a concert. Good space. HUGE PLUS SIDE even with a packed house it was not was and sticky and sweaty. There was cool air circulating. I don't want to know what their electric bill would be. Drinks were over priced tho. Paid way to much for domestic beers, not even anything fancy
Always fun to see a show here. Sounds is great and the space is laid out nice.
Was good saw tiwwdle and pigeons playing ping pong. It was like a big party. Has big stage with great lights and sound. Took acid trip here with no issuse. They have a bar up stairs and down stairs. Lots of seating and comfy chairs to trip out in.
Beautiful venue for the wedding. Would be a great place for any type of group celebration.
Saw x ambassadors and it was awesome! Staff was great and polite bartender was awesome and they had a table of water for everyone at the end of the show. Pick one up on your way out.
We had Balcony seats which were just bar stools in the upstairs area. It was gated off and they checked tickets there for your seat. It was too tightly compacted in my opinion but breathable. The bar is upstairs. The bathrooms are also upstairs, only one set. One entrance for both male and female and shared washing area. It has a seated area by the sinks that you can also order at the bar from. The bathrooms were fine, cool aesthetics but nothing mind blowing. Felt like a jungle.
Overall would definitely recommend this venue. The show felt really intimate
Great, intimate venue with a main floor and second floor balcony area. The Varsity has a lot of different acts from comedy and music. Keep an eye out on their website for upcoming shows. I believe you can also rent the place out for personal events. Interestingly, the bathrooms are one of the most unique of any venue I've seen. The rest of the building has quirky features that give the venue style and character. Support live music!
We saw Esther Povitsky a few weeks ago, and it was wild! She is so funny, but the venue itself is amazing. I haven't been here since I was a kid, and it was more awesome than I ever remembered. I thought it was so cool that they serve liquid death, and all the drinks were so worth it! We will hopefully be back soon!
Great venue, not so great parking since it's on the U of M campus
Amazing venue to perform at. Huge room great sound and check out these bathrooms
Great venue! Atmosphere was original! Smoking area just outside. You must visit this establishment. I know I will again!
Been here a couple of tomes love their bathroom and the artists the host
One of the better venues in the city. Closed for a while but good to see it's open again. Clean and small enough to see a from pretty much any where. Drinks are normal prices for a venue . Usually easy to move around. Joe H is awesome!
Came to see Chappelle, and overall enjoyed the experience, but had some points of frustration that diminished what was a very expensive show. Ambience isn't the issue, as Varsity boasts a sort of adventurous and uniquely artistic theme from stage to door. Issues start with POS machines which we're slow and staff which didn't communicate well. Additionally in what was a cool night outside, for some reason cold air was pumping and made for a frigid climate that was hard to ignore, even with sleeves on. I'm sure it would be fine standing and dancing at a concert, but not sitting for a comedy show. Lastly, while Chappelle was great, in my opinion this isn't a great venue for comedy. Good views closer to the back were hard to come by, and overall felt cut off from the rest of the show (full disclosure, my seats were 2 rows from the back, so there's that). Have been here several times years past for concerts and really enjoyed them, so maybe Varsity should stick to music instead.
Went there for 3OH!3, and the line was long but security moved quickly along. I asked to upgrade to a seat upstairs, and it was an awesome view of the event. Server was quick as well which I was grateful for since lines for the bar were neverending.
Cool structures, the bathroom setup is... weird to say the least. COOL but weird lol.. drinks could definitely use less sweet and sour mix, but pretty cool kind of vampiresque feel.
Quaint little joint with a couple bars and some worthwhile VIP options. Nothing better than sitting at the balcony watching the light shows and getting waited on.
Very similar to the fine line in capacity, cleanliness, and layout.
This venue also features one of the most interesting restrooms I've seen. Co-ed wash room with a view of the stage. It's really something to behold.
I've been to the Varsity many times. It's a small but pretty venue in dinkytown. Great location with fun spots to eat and drink before or after nearby. Subtracting one star due to the long time it took to get through security and into the venue. While the line went on for blocks, we were only about a block from the door, and it all took a half an hour after doors opened to get inside. They should try to find a way to expedite this process, at least until it's warm out in the evening.
Pretty cool semi Intimate venue. I fully recommend getting VIP.
Cool theater with nice architectural touches. Ben Bohmer was a blast.
Bathrooms are blocked the SECOND the show is over! They immediately rush you out.
Quite unreasonable to serve drinks, expect people not to get up and disrupt the performer and then force patrons out into dinkytown to find relief…
Otherwise, a decent venue for a comedy show.
Nice little hole in the wall midsize venue. Loved the ability to upgrade to balcony seats. Good bar access, but you have to hunt for the bathroom. Upgrade for seating in the balcony or main floor risers If that's your deal, but you might as well hit the rail my friend
When to go see a show here and was surprised with how good the sound was. The volume was loud, it was a metal show so they can sometimes be a rough sound, but it was crisp and clean. There are no bad sightlines here. I would definitely go see more bands perform at the Varsity.
Went to a concert tonight, staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, after the opener and before the main show‐ the staff also gave out free cups of water to everyone in the crowd that wanted it! Loved this place and the town is super cute!
Totally over the top red tape...
One drink Served at the bar per person... my husband is a recent amputee and could not stand in the line....so I got his drink then had to queue AGAIN for my drink.... ugh
I also left my phone in the truck because I was so concerned about getting my husband in with his prosthesis....not allowed readmission....!
Finally we were upstairs VIP.... toilets absolutely smelt so bad.....ugh
On a good note The Darkness were FANTASTIC!!!!!
Perfect for small, intimate shows. Seen some great performances here.
Great place to see live music.
Great place for an intimate concert, staff is awesome and friendly. A bit run down on the outside but that just adds to the cool factor, if you're there for a bigger act be prepared to wait in line for 45 minutes or so, but it's totally worth it!
Nice venue. Watched Russell Howard comedy show there.
Best bathrooms in the Twin Cities! Besides that, it’s an ok music venue and it brings in some unique acts. Take an Uber because parking isn’t great and make sure to read ALL their policies before attending a concert (unreasonable or not, they’ll be enforced without leeway in my experience)
This venue never disappoints. Nice simple layout works well for seated or standing rooms shows. Staff is always on point and friendly.
Plenty off restaurants and bars in the area if you want to meet up before hitting the Varsity or extending your night after your time here.
Loved it. So cute. Went and saw Dodie Clark and Adam Melchor
I've been to dozens of concert venues across the country and this one is still my favorite of all time. The staff is so nice, the bathrooms are iconic, and you always have a good view!
Went to Ben Bohmer Saturday April 30th 2022. Venue is cool but the sound was terrible. Almost as if there was constant feedback or echoes. Could barely make out the music most of the time. Sounded like they blew out the speakers the night before or something. I would no attend another EDM concert here. I hope they can fix the issue!
I saw Lissie here and was a great place for a concert!
I seen a concert there. It was a nice venue. Drinks are weak though. Two long islands and not even a buzz.
Great place to see a show. If a band I want to see is coming to town & they're playing the varsity theater, I'll be there
Nice small venue. Had balcony seats and our own server which was nice. Our server was the only venue staff who was actually nice to us. Ticket staff and others were not friendly at all. Which is sad, since you are going there to have a goodtime.
Great music venue will be returning for cradle of filth in March. Staff is very friendly
Saw Silverstein and Hawthorne Heights here!! Amazing venue and security was super friendly.
Venue is nice! Getting in was easy and i went see Larry June it was a good time. Staff was also very friendly.
Fantastic live venue. I hope to see another of my favorite bands there
Saw a show here and it was a blast. Sounded great everywhere. It's a smaller venue so you can see the stage very well pretty much everywhere. I was on the balcony and saw the artists on stage no problem. The two bars are cool. And the bartender was nice and make a great drink. I would go again.
Far better sound and atmosphere than 1st Ave *gasp*
This place is wicked cool. Seriously. Saw Andrew McMahon for the Pen and Piano tour. The decor and style inside this theater is something to remember. Even the bathrooms were some of the most unique and epic restrooms I've been in.
I can't think of a bad thing to say about this venue so how's this: Just go see a show here and you'll know what I mean. Simply awesome.
I have been to so many great shows here and it is one of my favorite venues in the cities! I’m glad it has new management now and once COVID is over I look forward to more shows here. And yes, the bathrooms are very grotto like and totally live up to the hype!
Such a fun and unique concert venue! No seating on the main floor, but a few seats upstairs. Bars on both levels.
This place is beautiful. Venue has a great aesthetic. Security can be a little "intense" at times.
Sweet venue! Really nice gothy kind of decor, and some neat stone work throughout. Has a lounge area down and upstairs which is incredibly comfortable.
Very stylish place.
The acoustics and sound mix for the bands (tech death metal, power metal) were on point, and the bass stuck out.
Really hope to see more metal shows going to this venue, or I'll have to figure some excuse to go and hang out because the atmosphere is one of the best I've seen since Triple Rock.
Great place with super helpful staff. Security is strict which makes me feel safe and secure while enjoying the music and is also a nice peace of mind with the tragedies that have happened in venues. The managers are always eager to help and the venue itself is super cool. The bathrooms have the most interesting sinks, over all a wonderful place to visit and experience live music. If I could give more stars than just 5 I would.
Great theater. So glad they re opened it! Rennovations were minimal to keep the original vibe, but the place has definitely been cleaned up a ton! The iconic bathrooms are back and better than ever. The sound is pretty good. There was some serious feedback during the first song, but the team quickly recovered and fixed the issue and the rest of the concert was great sound and mixing. Bartenders and servers were extremely friendly and didn't get annoyed like some do when I just asked for a glass of water. I'm definitely excited to see another show here soon!
Great theater! The staff and bartenders were really nice and were accommodating! I would definitely come back here for another show!
Great venue! It’s very spacious, it’s clean and the acoustics are wonderful. It’s hard to see much from the balcony unless you have VIP tickets but you’re able to get some space and not bump into people up there. Bathrooms are creative.
It has an interesting ambiance and the staff was pretty nice. I do however have two concerns. One the security is NOT good. The lead vocalist was climbed on by a drunk/high fan in middle of show and nothing appeared to be done by security. Also they cranked the bass up at the show to the point where it literally hurt our insides and my husband and I are pretty regular concert attendees. I really think this could be an awesome venue if these two items could be resolved.
Great concert venue. Even when the line to get in was around the corner they got everyone in pretty quickly. They offer a coat check and the drinks are not horribly priced. Definitely make sure you get upstairs to check out the bathrooms. They are unique.
Saw Dorothy and they blew the lid off the joint. Great sound and atmosphere with easy bar and bathroom access.
Good little spot! My drink was really good and quite large in size! Great security (as well as police on site) but it takes awhile to get in because they have hand held metal detectors and have to check each person! It's standing room only and gets extremely packed, the sooner you get in the closer you can get to the stage. If you have to leave the stage (ie. use the bathroom or get another drink) it can be a little bit of a challenge to get back to your friends, but I did it...😉
Wish there were more places to sit as I am old and lazy but a nice venue with a good bar and great sound.
Great venue, unique bathroom but it was cool. The stage crew was quick and kept the show going. Girlfriends and Tyler Posey where outstanding!
Good intimate venue to see a show. Staff is pretty friendly as well. Good acoustics.
Decent concert hall. Expenses drinks compared to other venues we have been to. Extremely nice bartenders and overall very clean. Security seemed to be a little different from what I have usually been through in smaller venues, but overall a nice venue.
What a cool venue! Very easy to get right up at the front, or dance in the more open back area. Bars both upstairs and downstairs, and the restrooms are actually quite cool. The bar staff was all friendly, and even through security getting wanded and bags searched everyone was high spirited and friendly.
Great venue for the size, a very personal feel to it.
We had our wedding reception at The Varsity and absolutely loved it. If you want to blow your guests away and have the night of your life, this is the place to do it. My husband and I wanted to make sure that our wedding felt like a big party, and this venue was definitely the right choice for that. The food was amazing, the drinks were good, and the setup allowed us to easily have a live band which put everything over the top in the best way. Lori and Elise were great to work with, and helped make our night perfect. We have had so many guests contact us in the 3 weeks since our big day saying it was the best wedding they had ever been to! It was incredible, I cannot say enough good things about this venue!
Great location, parking wasn't an issue. Lots of space for patrons. Bathrooms were plenty (for the girls at least) and drinks were quick. My favorite part was their security. Husband and I paid for balcony seats. Security came by multiple times before the show to make sure the people in those seats were the ones that paid for them.
Excellent venue, barstaff were spot on, even though security was a bit inexperienced.
One of my favorite bathrooms in the Twin Cities. Gender-neutral communal hand washing troughs should be more common.
Overall, great place to catch a show.
Great venue. Thorough but considerate security. Reasonable alcohol prices. Clean. Now if they could only do something about the late artist start times. 7:00 door open, 10:00 main act start. Yikes. Was warned at door about this so kudos for that. Great place to see your bands
Came here to see Hayley Kiyoko. The venue is beautiful! 2 floors, bars on both, and my drink was delicious. The staff were all very nice. If you're going to a sold out show, you wanna leave bigger bags in your car or check them in. Rumor has it the view from the bathroom windows is really nice.
Great venue for live music! Cool and funky space with old chandeliers and twinkling lights. Sound is pretty decent. The VIP couches and reserved 2nd level balcony bar stools are great if you can get them. Parking can be a challenge in Dinkytown, so plan accordingly.
This place has amazing service, with such lavish decor. It a nice little place in a good part of town, the hu concert Thursday was quite awesome and the bar service was just the same.
This is one of the coolest venues in Minneapolis. The sight lines to the stage are great and there's also tiered seating along the sides with comfy couches and chairs. The acoustics are great, too. I will definitely be going back there for shows.
One of my favorite concert venues in the Twin Cities, but also a great event space. As a concert space it's small enough to feel intimate, but enough space that you don't have to feel bunched up together. Great bar with lots of good options. As an event space the catering from Loring is awesome and it's a unique and interesting space that guests will enjoy.
I got to watch the Cavetown performance. I absolutely loved it for my first time at a concert . And inside the building is amazing, it's so geogous. 😍 …
This was a cool place to see a show. It's a pretty intimate setting as far as co cert venues go. They have a k8hnge area upstairs and everything. I do have a complaint though. Some members or of party purchased early entry tickets (not VIP) and they were not allowed to enter early, they had to come in when the doors opened like everyone else. That wouldn't be a huge deal except it cost extra for the early entry and it was freezing cold and snowing hard.
A little different after being sold, drink prices are high and fancy mixed cocktails are served in plastic cups.
Last show I saw I was seated upstairs that had wait staff, our server only came by for our drink order as we first sat down and never returned after we got the first round.
Sound was on the poor side, vocals way too deep in the mix for both bands.
Excellent concert venue!! Great view of the show from all areas, love the lounge areas for hanging out before the show. The seating is pretty tight (like actually elbow to elbow), but worth it if you prefer to sit!
We saw Michael Shynes here the other night. They have reserved seating upstairs with a small bar and neat bathrooms. Downstairs has a larger bar with reserved seating on the sides only. Otherwise its standing room only and I didn’t mind. Plenty of room to move around or get super close to stage.
It is a good venue. They gave us free tickets to an upcoming show. Bathrooms are super cool. Drinks are over priced like every other place. Security is absolutely over the top. It was like a 5 step process to get in. Hot tip: if you want special treatment and the best view arrive on crutches! Security will walk you through the venue and make everyone in a 10 foot radius move out of the way and announce your presence! You will also get to sit right up by the stage on the other side of the gate. You can even prop your crutches up against the gate and let them lean out into the crowd!
Such a fun venue! It is visually fun (especially the bathrooms!) and open enough that it doesn't feel cramped. It's nice to have the option of couches along the side or bar stools in the balcony along with standing room on the floor. I will keep my eye open for other events at The Varsity just so I can visit again!
Saw the George Clinton farewell/retirement tour here last night and had a great time with my wife and a friend!
Security in was easy and friendly, and security in the venue was very relaxed. Had two police officers wandering the whole time.
The decor was interesting, with trippy brickwork all over the place, chandelier lighting, and the bar has cool lighting too. Bar wait wasn't too bad for an average-sized venue bar. Outdoor smoking area near the left of the stage was convenient. Bathrooms are upstairs in the corners; Seven women's stalls and two or three men's, I believe my wife said?).
Sounds was definitely muddy at times but could've been the sound guy? Crowd was varied -- Older folks in their 60s and 20-somethings all giving it up for the funk!
Cool venue and I'd gladly return!
Lots of memories here so I'm glad to see that it hasn't changed much under new ownership. Drinks are still good, sound is excellent and it's a great atmosphere. Only gripe is that the stage isn't elevated enough. I'm 5'11" and had a hard time seeing well. Always a good time here though.
The place is always clean and the shows are usually well curated. The bar can be over-run a little at the peak of the night, but that's to be expected. If you go for mezzanine seats or reserved on the sides of the main floor you won't be disappointed in the viewing experience, but the view from the floor is never blocked by anything.
Very nice little venue. Bartenders are great. Laid back atmosphere. I would recommend VIP seating if available. The only downside is finding parking can be difficult depending on day and time, as it's in dinkytown.
This was a magical place to go to a concert. Smaller venue than the Armory and gives off a haunted mansion vibe.
Fairly easy to find. Considering that it's a smaller theater, it wasn't bad at all. Seating was a bit problematic, but it was still a very good time.
Loved the intimate feeling for the show! The building is Beautiful inside!
Smallish, intimate venue. The service was great, and the bathrooms.....OMG the bathrooms 😍. Best bathroom I have ever seen 🤣. One negative was a bouncer who I admittedly accidently fell into after getting pushed a little. Nobodies fault, but he did come off to me like I was going to get kicked out for an accident. He was definitely having a bad day or something. All in all, no harm no foul. Great venue 😁
I've been there only once for the recent Eric B & Rakim show. it's a nice venue. the place is kept real clean at least until they reach full capacity. their bathrooms look very nice. I feel that black toilets are a good choice as I think white ones over time become irreparably dingy. the bartender upstairs that night had a long line pretty much the whole event but he remained on point. parking is very difficult though but I'm not sure how much space the establishment itself has.
I attended the Logic concert at this theater. It was my first time here, and I hope there will be more. First off, I am used to paying $8/drink at other venues around the city. I was shocked when the drinks were roughly half that cost. The bar was huge, and there were plenty of bartenders to handle the crowd. The theater is well designed, and the bathrooms are like none I've seen before.
There was plenty of room everywhere, and the acoustics were good. I've been to other concerts where the bass is overwhelming, and you can't here the artist. That wasn't the case here.
The only negative feedback I have is the parking. We had to park in the closest ramp, which is 2 blocks away. It happened to be raining that day, and there was no valet available. There is parking on the street, but it is very limited. Other than that, I highly recommend Varsity Theater.
Whoever was running the songs system for the Bad Suns concert tonight needs some additional training. You couldn't hear the lead singers from either group over the muddy mid and bass.
Aside from that and the over priced drinks, I actually really like this venue because of its decor and location. But tonight was sub-par compared to my other 4 experiences there.
Decent venue for live music (headliner only). Bathrooms are a trip. Drinks are expensive, but where aren't they these days? Sound for the headline band was good. Don't bother to show up early for opening bands. It won't matter how good they are the sound will suck. Parking is a pain. Take an uber.
Incredibly cool venue, gives of a vibe somewhere between goth rock and industrial. Great bar, super cool staff. I'd make the drive from Madison again to see shows here. The balcony offers a good view without pulling you out of the show.
Good venue cool bathrooms like they told us haha
Really nice venue on the U of M campus. They’ve got big fans aimed at the floor, which is awesome. Nice to not already be sweating before the show begins. They also provided free water after the show, which again, is dope.
Loved it what an awesome venue to see a show the Grace Vanderwall concert was amazing.
Security and bartenders were so nice! And drinks were the cheapest out of most of the venues in Minneapolis.
This venue is one of my favorites. Many great spots to view the stage, ok drink prices (except the 3 dollar price for water, just ask for a cup and fill it in the shower head sink), nice staff, and the coolest bathroom in the twin cities.
Great venue! Great staff!
My only complaint; I wish there was some food available inside because they don't allow re-entry if you wanted to leave to get a quick bite.
Great venue for concerts! Lots of space and I liked standing on the elevated platforms on the sides or on the stairs in the back.
Best decor for a venue in the Twin Cities. Even their bathroom is cool.
I can not thank the amazing staff enough for the first concert experience they gave my daughter tonight! She was so excited to see LANCO tonight but they made it something she will remember forever. They genuinely care and it shows. Thank you again! We will be back!
Been here for a concert one time and a my best friends wedding last week. GREAT VENUE for both! Cool bathroom set up and good staff! Nice work!
I've been to the Varsity several times and always had a good time. BUT, this time I upgraded my tickets to premium seating and to deal with Matt Leonard was absolutely WONDERFUL! I highly recommend contacting Matt if you need anything. Looking forward to the show this Saturday!
The venue itself was quite beautiful and very clean, but I was somewhat disappointed with the customer service. I purchased a VIP package to see a band that was performing, and the package included access to the soundcheck as well as a meet&greet, and I was told to arrive promptly at 3:00 in order to attend the events. However, we were not allowed into the venue until almost 4:00, and only had a short meet&greet (about thirty minutes) and heard them play one song (the actual soundcheck could be heard somewhat from outside of the venue while I was still waiting to enter).
Great venue, great staff. Will be seeing more shows here
Cool venue with very interesting bathrooms. In fact, my only problem with the place was a lack of bathroom space for men. The women's side is quite large but the men's side consists of only 2 urinals and a toilet. I waited in line for 30 minutes just to pee. If I had been drinking beer that night I might have resorted to watering one of their plants for them...
Great place to see a show
We saw Here Come the Mummies and they were great but there's no seating on the main floor. If you have a hard time standing for hours it's a problem. The co-ed bathroom sinks were cool. Loring Pasta Bar has an interesting atmosphere and good food.
Good place for a small show. Seating leaves a bit too be desired and the drinks are hella expensive.
Cool venue. Good sound. The staff was nice and friendly. This may be weird, but the bathrooms are amazing! The only downside is that drink prices are outrageously overpriced.
The bathroom is very odd, but the interior decoration is cool and seems authentic from it's older days.
Fun place for concerts. Tough getting in when it is freezing cold out and they are slowly wanding every person, one by one for security. That was painful.
Favorite Minneapolis Concert Venue. Intimate shows with good sound in a venue that offers a neat aesthetic. Brick walls and good decorating make for a really cool place to see a band. oh ps. Not that it matters but coolest bathrooms I've ever been in. Cool enough they need to be mentioned....
Beautiful venue. Excellent and professional security. No purses allowed in.
This is by far the coolest venue I have ever gone to. If you're catching a concert there make sure to go upstairs and check out the bathroom. They really made this venue special with all the unique pieces throughout it.
Love this venue! Full disclosure, I did go to the University of Minnesota and lived relatively near this location so every show that I went to at Varsity did not require any hassles relating to parking. I do not believe there are any dedicated lots for Varsity (I could be wrong), but barring this being an incorrect statement plan on getting there early to figure out the parking situation.
Varsity theater is a unique place. From the outside the place looks like an old movie theater from the 50's or 60's. The setting is very grandiose, high ceilings, decorative tiling, and overall probably the classiest venue any hip hop group has or will ever perform at. There are lounging couches scattered about the edges of the show floor, with the majority reserved for standing space. The floor in front of the stage is so ridiculously wide and the floor seems to stretch back forever.
I saw Brand Nubian here and EMPD, both were fun shows and I would defiinitely go back!
A very cool environment. The music was great with a good selection of liquid spitits. Also, they have a coat check available. I caught a show on a Tuesday and felt very safe with over 4 security people and 3 police officers on site. The area around the threater also had a good continuous police presence.
Wi-fi sucks so print your tickets before you arrive. I was expecting a little more than rows of fold out chairs for a comedy show...at least small tables since they were serving drinks. The waitresses couldn't get to everyone because of this type of seating. The bar downstairs was crowded so no chance of getting any drinks before the show and nobody at the front let you know of the 2nd bar upstairs by the restrooms. Super weird layout for the restrooms, but I guess you have to work with the space being a small venue. 1st time there and possibly last time since it was also super difficult to find any parking being near the UofM.
Great venue, cool ascetic, awesome sound quality and the people who run it really know how to play to the audience between sets.
Great venue. Upstairs area is well worth the added cost.
Very cool venue! I paid for a VIP ticket to watch Sir Sly & Joywave from the upper level. It's great - no need to crane or bob your neck to see the musicians, plus, there's a bar and the restroom is located on the upper level. The restroom is pretty neat! The mens' stalls are on the left side, the womens's stalls on the right, and the space in between are common handwash basins. It has a jungle-type of feel to it. The soundsystem & the acoustics at the Varsity are fantastic.
I saw the SuicideGirls Blackheart Burlesque show last night--it was my first time at this venue. The staff was excellent, the atmosphere was excellent, and the crowd was pretty good. I cannot comment much on sound as the show was mostly a visual experience, but the sound didn't seem obviously poor.
Two problems with this venue/act that lessened enjoyment out of many: the stage objectively is too low. I'm 6'1" standing 20 feet from the stage and had a difficult time seeing a good portion of the performance. Part of that was the nature of the show; the performers spent some time writhing around on the ground.
The second problem, exacerbated by the first, was the presence of mobile phones all over my sight line. The SuicideGirls insanely encouraged us to take pictures, with the opportunity to win a membership if we presented the best picture. Obviously with mobile device photographers, the only decent photographs would be taken in the first couple rows, but this didn't prevent much of the audience to hold their phones up all night long. And it irked everyone. I saw two fights almost break out because of this. It created a lot of audience tension (easy to do in Minneapolis, land of the uptight and passive aggressive), which also lessened my positive experience.
Small but very intimate venue for music
Really enjoyed a concert here last week. A very intimate setting. It's generally wide open general "seating" which is standing on the floor. There is limited seating on the top floor with great views of the concert floor.
It's an okay place to see some music. The bathrooms are great. Beer could be cheaper though. Also, someone in our group left a jacket there and we tried to call and message (on FB) the venue for a month and got no response.
Great small venue to see a concert. All general admission with no seating. Give yourself extra time to find parking, the Varsity is on the U of M campus so parking near the venue is limited. There is a parking ramp several blocks away that works well.
It's one of my favorite venues to see a show in the twin cities. It's big enough for a decent sized crowd, but still small enough where you can actually see the band and have good sound quality.
Great venue for concerts!
I love shows at Varsity. As far as the set-up and arrangement there aren't many intimate venues better in these parts. Parking is a bit of a bit**, however, it is also bad anywhere in that area. I like it's proximity to good food. Never a bad experience...except almost not getting tickets to the SOLD OUT AWOLNATION concert tonight!
Loved seeing the Menzingers and Tiny Moving Parts here!
This is an excellent venue that books great shows. The sound is good (although it can be a little too loud sometimes). If you have a chance to see a concert here, don't miss it.
The Claypool/Lennon Delirium show was hands down one of the best concerts I've ever experienced. Felt sound quality was fantastic wherever I stood. Recommend.
A decent venue for smaller artists. Bathrooms are meh, and a little messy. Nice staff and very solid security. I had a good time and will defiantly come back.
The venue looks awesome and the drinks seem reasonably priced (although I went liquor-less this time). Every artist I've seen here has been a blast. I'll be back again and again!
Best venue in the city for live music hands down. Friendly staff, quick bar service and awesome bathrooms. Great location with lots of restaurants and bars nearby for before/after the show.
Great place, cheap drinks! Sound guy was terrible, unless it's the acoustics of the place. All I could hear along with my 3 friends who are all musicians were drums, bass and barely vocals, it was even worse for the opening bands, I felt bad for them
Intimate and fun venue to see artists perform. And the bathrooms were a fun experience as well.
Awesome venue every time! Sound quality is amazing and better than any other small Minnesota venue I've been to. Always super clean with great employees.
Would be 5 stars but the drinks are over priced. Nice venue and A+ to the sound man because he didn't blow away the audience by jacking up the volume too loud.
Saw Crystal Castles concert here. Surprisingly large venue with general admission elevated standing areas. Bar prices were decent. The bathroom was shocking in an intriguing way.
Beautiful venue! And awesome bartenders! Love it!
Great cozy place for a concert
One of my favorite venues in Minneapolis, I think. The bartenders are actually nice! What a concept! If you get a chance to see a show here, do it.
We cannot say enough good things about our wedding experience at Loring Pasta Bar and Varsity Theater. We had both our rehearsal dinner + ceremony and reception at these venues and it was so nice to know our ceremony coordinator (Kimberly) and our reception coordinator (Luci) had everything under control from the first day we met them until even after the wedding. The location of the two venues made it easy for guests to walk straight to the reception rather than dealing with parking twice. The fact that we didn't have to worry about setting up or taking down (tables, dinner, decor, etc.) was worth all the money in the world. Our entire family and friends were always in the moment, leaving the rest up to the great staff at LPB and Varsity. Thank you for making our wedding so easy and perfect! Love, M&A
We saw Xambassodes there recently. Great venue, staff was courteous, well organized and quickly dealt with a rowdy show goer.
good venue, saw Small Town Murder. Wish they dint book a diffrent show right after it. Would of been great to stay and keep drinking and mingle with the hosts as they do at other venues.
Fun venue, good sound. But expect to pay ten dollars for a beer not including the tip.
Decent sized venue, big open floor in the front, cool themed bar, and an almost pirate rustic bathroom(which was a nice touch for a concert). Fun time there forsure!
Awesome sound system, great staff, comfy confines, cool bathroom.
Great venue to see your favorite band!
Super great and unique theater. The bathroom was simultaneously awe inspiring and confusing. (Yes, really. You have to see it to understand.) Came here for a wedding, which was incredible to see. Highly recommended.
I saw Paul Weller on Wednesday September 10th, 2014 at the Varsity Theater.
Great venue, congenial staff, enthusiastic concert goers, exciting camaraderie. I thoroughly enjoyed my evening, and my experience.
BEAUTIFUL bathroom! It's a unisex but the men does still have a small section for their toilets. The whole bathroom is built like a rainforest with shower head faucets. So cool!
It's kinda small in there but the atmosphere is so mellow.
Great place for a concert. I wish they didn't allow so much drinking and smoking though. They should definitely be stricter on marijuana use.
Definitely pregame before coming here. Their drinks are pretty spendy and watered down. Two "double" drinks didnt even get me buzzed. Other than that the venue is really nice
One of my favorite places to see concerts. Great atmosphere and sounds. Has a nice interior with lots of options for standing or sitting.
Lots of space to dance. Comfy seating areas. Wish their coat check was located away from the main bar. Beautiful furniture and decorations.
Helpful staff, good quality sound, amazing bathrooms. NA drinks are a bit overpriced, a $3 soda in a cocktail cup is pushing it if I want to tip.
The place is excellent for housing bands, parties, gatherings. However the sound equipment, needs improvement. It's way too loud in there and the revert back from the speakers is not good.
What a unique building and it is so easy to get up close to the singers.
Went to this venue for an Aly & AJ concert and meet and greet. There was a communication mixup regarding the time of the meet and greet and the staff at the Varsity Theater went out of their way to get us in and connect us with the band's rep to get us our meet and greet. And Aly & AJ were so thoughtful and met us even though we arrived late. Thank you to the Varsity staff and Aly & AJ for making our night wonderful!
What a sweet venue for concerts with super groovy bathrooms.
Love the bathroom and the disgn of the place didn't love though was the stools and how close together they were, and how much you pay for that seat unfortunally. But all in all really nice place to go for a comedy show
As a music, film, and event venue, the Varsity has few rivals. It's attraction comes from unique interior design and having every type of event facility at hand. Unnecessarily expensive drinks and limited space reduce it's rating.
Great smaller more personal to middle sized venue
It was a neat smaller venue. Staff I encountered were friendly and helpful, and the band's put on a good show. Will go again if I'm in the area.
This is such a cool venue. Cool building and great staff
It's always a great time here at the varsity! I've seen Judah and the Lion be and 5sos. I love the smaller venue. The bathrooms are super cool too!
Best place to see concerts in the twin cities, staff are super friendly and helpful, the venue is gorgeous, and the bathrooms are clean and spacious. Super accommodating and overall great place.
Love this venue for a show! Great site lines for weirdos like me who need to stroll around! Funky decor + staff who like their job = awesome!
I really like this venue. I've come to a few shows here. Open floor. VIP tables. And the bathrooms are the best part.
Fun venue, but if you go to a show that actually utilizes seating, be warned the seats are not comfortable. Otherwise, enjoyed the show here.
Very lovely, smaller venue for shows. Great bar and beautiful setting whether on the floor or balcony seating.
This place is a perfect place to see your favorite bands in a very close environment. The staff is astounding. Definitely, coming back!
Wow, what a great place to hold a concert or event, I was here enjoying the Dave Chappelle show, a great atmosphere, the lighting, was good every seat is great for viewing the stage, 2 floors, upstairs and downstairs bar, restrooms are upstairs, which is a little bit of a trek, but all in all, what a treasure, parking lots nearby, only a block or two walking, I will definitely recommend!
Cool venue, interesting acoustics that are a bit too loud if I'm being honest. Also wouldn't serve me alcohol because it's "illegal" and I'm "underage"
Wonderful place to see music concerts. Amazing Venue
I really enjoy going to the Varsity Theater. The atmosphere here is always so amazing and the venue is simply beautiful. Hands down my favorite place to see a show in the Twin Cities!
Fun space excellent venue for a comedy show.
Loved our band once they finally went on. Show on the ticket said 7, band went on at 9. With it being generally standing room only that kind of sucks.
Pretty nice venue, Not my favorite due to lack of parking and the high cost of drinks inside, But the space is good and the sound and lighting is always very nice.
Decent venue, staff is rather "cold" not really friendly. Sound was ok but not great, bathrooms are upstairs and really unique.
Very cool venue. Super unique space!
The location is surrounded with restaurants. Decent size for small concerts or plays. I like that they preserved the old bricks and used antique chandeliers.
Top tier sound system, friendly staff, and excellent ammenities. Def recommend listening on the upper level or lounging on the very comfortable chairs with a friend.
nice little venue for bands. Can be tough to see if you're in the back, but not too big of a venue to make it feel like you're missing the action.
Sound was really good, lights were good. Drinks were definately overpriced. Would attend other shows here but will pre-drink somewhere else.
Great place for a party. Excellent food. Only drawback was that we were not allowed in much of the balcony where there would have been interesting views.
This is absolutely my favorite venue in the Twin Cities. The venue staff are always so nice and helpful & the ambience is beyond beautiful.
Awesome and intimate venue, never a bad time. Just don't get too wild or you might not make it through the entire show.
Great intimate venue to see bands. I recommend going to see a show here. It's also positioned around a ton of businesses. Good stuff.
Really cool venue! Bathroom was the coolest part.
Best venue I have been to so far. Love the second floor and the comfortable/clean bathrooms.
Great place for a concert! Great sound, great location, great size... just great!!
My favorite venue in the Twin Cities. Was sad to see it close, happy to see it operational again. Sight lines can suck, but the sound is always fantastic.
Saw Lyfe Jennings here. The acoustics in the space was off, sounded like he was yelling and a bit squeaky even though typically he has a great voice live. Maybe they needed to do sound check.
ABSOLUTELY Fantastic from the minute we walked in, EXCELLENT management and customer service, I will be back soon, and I can't wait to get back!!! Staff went above and beyond to create a unforgettable experience!! 5+ stars, so impressed!!!!
Nice venue, only issue is if it's not night light gets in near the stage, kind of ruins the mood
Good sound. Good sightlines. Beer price is fair to a little high. My only beef is the bathrooms are too small.
Very cool venue to see live music. They have limited balcony seating which is a good alternative to general admission!
Great venue, but closing the bathrooms was uncool.
Great place for a show. Don't show up early you won't get in. Once you are in it's a great concert venue!
Nice venue good sound friendly atmosphere. Late Night Fights on stage pole dancers and ping pong cannon. I had a good time
Sounds is weird but love me some good bands!
Great venue with excellent sound and space to enjoy the show
Love this venue. I have been to multiple shows here and they always run smoothly!
The floors are always sticky. But the shows are generally decent!
Cool venue to catch a show. Dinkytown is difficult for parking, so be sure to add 20-30min to your expected arrival time.
First time visit and I liked everything except trying to find parking the varsity theater was very nice pretty good sight lines the sound was better on the main floor it was harder to clearly hear upstairs
Great, smaller live music venue. Pay extra for the mezzanine if you don't want to be in the thick crowd on the main floor.
Decent venue for musical shows. I know they can't really do anything about it but parking around that area is terrible.
Great band, great energy and great staff and security. Balcony had a nice view, but there is weird seating- barstools
Nice venue, but plan to pay extra for any conveniences- seating, balcony view, etc. Drinks were pricey and parking was difficult.
Hell Yeah was excellent. I like the bathroom area. Sound is great here for live music.
I have been coming there and the other near stadium village-wish we could get a small venue , calling on Prince for all of our baby boomers who are almu
Also, I think tDinkytown looks heavenly-great to keep some of the buildings and names, and to tell you the truth, at age 69 and very active, dance and music, still eat in the neighborhood and still read THE MNINNESTOA DAILY.
I like places you can walk and interact (esp late-we are night owls), and this is the only neighborhood one can do this in the twin cities-similar to others on the east coast
Re Varsity, keep it up, but also would like to see some oldies but goodies-BREAKFAST CLUB-..
Great venue! Sounds for Sabrina Claudio was amazing! Good selection for drinks
Got charged 3 different prices for the same drink from different bartenders, kind of odd. Sound was great and loved the AC.
Great venue, very intimate
Great venue! That said you are in MN your coat check should have the same capacity as the venue itself.
One of the best venues in town for seeing live music. We liked it so much we had our wedding at the Varsity.
Love this venue so much - just wish they didnt start charging for certain areas of the venue to stand at.
Since Live Nation took over this venue the shows have been great, and the staff has been professional.
Clean. Good acoustics. Friendly staff.
I always enjoy this venue for music. Friendly bar staff and a unique space.
Bathrooms were tiny and a mile away. Sound was good though, nice small venue.
Took my daughter to see We Three at Varsity Theater this past week and everyone was great. Very accommodating and the seats were great!
Awesome venue, great GM, very helpful & I liked it that he came out while we were in line waiting to talk.
Fun venue with great decor and atmosphere
Had a great time at the concert! Helpful and friendly staff, awesome bathrooms.
Good venue, but the online ticketing fees are some of the worst for any venue in the area.
There are better options than Ticketmaster!
Honestly really fantastic venue but they have 2 urinals/stalls, so even guys have to wait in line
Good acoustics, the bands sounded good. Friendly staff and good security staff. Really enjoyed myself.
I had a great time seeing Alec Benjamin perform and the theater was a nice open space to enjoy his music.
Cool venue downtown Minneapolis with a unique old school vibe. This place has one of the most interesting bathrooms I've ever seen.
Very cool space. Got nothing bad to say about it. Lot's of cool old theaters in the cities but this one goes at the top of the list because of a crazy cool bathroom.
Wonderful small venue!
Need more bartenders upstairs. One doesn't cut it.
As always a fun venue. Security has been upped, and perhaps could have been easier to navigate. Otherwise a fun time!
Bathroom was AMAZING. accoustics were really good, drinks were reasonably priced and the staffs attitudes KICKED ASS!
One of my fave concert venues. It's standing only for the most part but the ambience is fantastic.
My favorite venue to watch shows. You get up close to your favorite artists and always provides a great time.
Great renovations. Classy looks. Bathrooms are some of the coolest bathrooms in the Twin Cities!
Pretty great venue. Sound was good, staff was pretty nice, drinks were expensive.
It was well organized, and easy to get into a concert. Employees are nice too :3
Awesome venue. Bathroom looks like a grotto. Fair price on drinks
I went here recently to see The Internet and the sound was TERRIBLE. Idk if it was the band or the venue, but I'd be reluctant to see a band their again. Maybe a comedy show or something.
Smaller venue with great views from any place. Huge bar. Love the vibe.
First time here in years... really enjoyed myself
Really enjoyed going to a music show. The seats on the upper balcony are great!
Okay Venue Cant get any signal inside the theater and no free wifi avalible unless you pre order a ticket or RSVP its close to my house so thats the only plus side to Varsity
Best thing about this place is the pizza across the street. They're definitely more professional since re opening but it's still only an OK venue.
Good venue for a show
Really my favorite venue for concerts! So many good memories.
One of the most visually beautiful venues I've ever seen. Like nothing else in the world probably.
Excellent customer service, clean bathrooms and beautiful decor. The theatre has a lot of character and charm.
I have only ever had GREAT experiences at the Varsity. I love their shows, the atmosphere and, simply, I always have fun!
Great venue. Matt and his crew took great care of our visit.
Nice layout with good sound. Limited beer selection, nothing dark. Dinkytown, so parking is hell.
Cool ambiance, actually managed to keep the room fairly cool, which is basically a miracle for a venue.
It's a nice small venue. I saw Starset there and it was awesome
Fantastic small theater, great for acts that have outgrown bars but can't fill arenas. Beautiful interior.
Really interesting venue. Lights could've been better but clean and good sounding.
Great small venue for a concert, the balcony looked nice with seats.
I live this venue, one of my favorite places to see musical acts in a quaint environment.
Great venue for intimate shows- parking can be really difficult, though, so plan in advance
Great venue. Audio was pretty good but overall great experience.
Saw Todrick Hall....what a great venue
Great sound, good beer prices. No patio though, so re-entry can take a while at times.
First time at this venue. Came to see The Internet. The sound sucked! Nice decor though.
Awesome looking space. Expected overpriced drinks. Cool bathrooms shipped over from the Playboy grotto.
Venue itself is amazing. It just sucks that there is nowhere to park around there so you always have to plan for at least an extra twenty minutes just for that.
One of the most beautiful venues you'll go to. Crazy trippy bathroom.
Staff was friendly and professional and the decor is amazing!
Headliner Tiffany was a disappointment. She came out and blabbed. Then sung one song. Then blabbed and blabbed....stalling. Then sung one more song and then she was done.
Great sound and atmosphere. My only complaint is how hot it gets in there even during the winter
High priced weak drinks. Wierd bathroom with a lot of wasted space. Needs designated paths to get back and forth to bars and restrooms
Great intimate venue. Arrive early to secure better viewing location and drinks.
Awesome venue. Bad parking. Good ambiance. Usually good shows.
Great venue, great staff. Drinks are standard price (not cheap).
Gorgeous venue. Music's great and people are nice.
Great venue for an intimate concert experience! Staff was very professional.
This is a really good venue. However, parking in Dinky Town sucks.
Not much seating, so had to stand on main floor. But beautiful theater.
I had a great time here. Staff were nice and helpful especially when my friend lost her phone.
Very cool theater
Lovely venue! Spacious and beautiful such a nice asthetic!
Beautiful venue. Almost makes going to dinky town worth it.
Classy venue. Great bar service. Unique and fun.
One of the best venues in the Twin Cities. Not to mention they have the best bathrooms.
Decent sized venue, but can be a mess trying to get through coat check and get drinks.
Sound quality was awful. The mics were screeching from each other and I could barely hear the singer.
Nice theater.. Enjoyed the show
This is probably my new favorite in Minneapolis.
Very wet. Don't stand under ac. Otherwise, great venue!
Great concert!
Great concert venue, modern look and helpful staff.
Only dropped off food for the band. Nice atmosphere, exciting crowd, friendly staff, and sweet music!!!!
Awesome venue!! Always great and well kept. Thanks!!
Amazing building can't wait to come back to see another show!
Great, small venue! Not a bad seat in the house.
The chairs for a stand up comedy show were uncomfortable and too close together. Otherwise it was a good show.
I had fun at an event, staff was nice and gave us free tickets for an upcoming event
Nice venue, quite versatile. Don't miss the bathroom.
Awesome concert venue with a polite and prompt bar staff.
Very beautiful venue with a nice stage and standing area.
Good local venue, super cool bathrooms! \m/
The event was lit. Full house. Music had me reminiscing. Drinks were pricey.
Cute venue that has a lot of nice seating for VIP
Decent college spot...we saw biz markie there. The DJ set was nice.
Saw Dave Chapelle here! Great venue and awesome show.
Liked the space, had an upstairs balcony and lots of seating throughout
A great venue, unique ambience, great audio & lighting, good staff !!
Love this place, staff is friendly. Rick does an awesome job as their security chief.
Hadn't been there in years and it's completely different now. I love what they've done with the place
If you're into metal, it's a great venue
Love seeing concerts here. The sound is great!
Saw claypool Lennon delirium here. Great show nice venue
Worst venue for comedy shows. No bouncers to control rowdy crowds. Go to Acme for a real comedy experience.
Beautiful decor, great sound system. Lost a star for very high drink prices
Was not too fond of the bartenders and drinks, but was a pretty awesome place to catch a show.
Great venue for a concert! Staff was awesome!
My favorite small venue in town with the best sound
Clean venue, ample space to dance, and dedicated staff to spite the spun out wooks
If you're short show up early or stand on the stairs near the back if you need a better view 🤘 …
Not the greatest concert venue ever and security is a little intense
Blue October 2nd year in row saw them perform. Absolutely amazing....
Nice small venue. Great atmosphere.
Great spot to see shows. Cozy, great sound system.
Nice
