Reviews of Theater Latté Da
We have always heard good things about this theater and on our first time here it exceeded our expectations! It is a wonderful old time small to mid-sized theater that has been lovingly remodeled/reconditioned and has a very cozy feel. The orginal outside marquee is gorgeous!
I went to the opening weekend of Jelly's Last Jam. What an excellent show! I've recommended it to lots of friends.
The theatre is intimate but very welcoming. The seating is great; comfortable and easy to locate. Go see a show!
Terrific musical theater company performing familiar productions along with world premieres. All of this magic occurs in the wonderful and intimate Ritz Theater, right in the heart of the Northeast Arts District. You won't be disappointed.
Professional and talented actors and singers, great production of Merrily We Roll Along. Imo some of the songs go on and on... But a real pleasure overall.
The set was awesome. Very talented cast. Loved he Child's in Wales.
Great theater space, easy parking. Happy to see they have remodeled the restrooms to be unisex. As to the plays, I've seen several excellent productions and others that were just so-so. Their specialty is musical theater, which they do very well, but sometimes a new musical adaptation just distracts from a good play.
Their latest production of 12 Angry Men is a MUST SEE. The world premiere of a new musical, the cast is spectacular. Every actor shines, as well as the sets, costumes, lighting, and amazing direction. Don’t miss it.
This theater continues to delight. Great original productions, friendly staff, and there isn't a bad seat in the house. This is my favorite of our local theaters/theater companies in the twin cities. We are fortunate to have them.
My first time at this intimate venue. Saw Once and it was marvelous ... though I’d be the first to admit that I’m not the most discerning theater patron. I just know whether or not I enjoy it!
The musical performances in the 30-minute pre-show are well worth getting there early. The staging for Once was very interesting in a good way. Cast did a great job in most musical numbers though a couple may have been singing outside their range. All in all this was a great experience.
Prepare to be delighted and highly entertained by the ever changing spectacle of "A Little Night Music". Filled with romance, great music and a highly talented cast, my Sunday afternoon went from dull to exciting in just a few hours. The Ritz Theater continues to be at the top of my monthly theater stops. My only wish...more seating in the lobby area...please.
Theater Latte Da is a true gem among the Twin Cities' theater scene and that's really saying something, as theater here is robust and exceptional. I love the intimacy of the Ritz Theater, which is home to Theater Latte Da. Every seat in the theater is perfect and allows you to truly engage with the production. While I would highly recommend any play put on by Theater Latte Da, if you have the opportunity to see "All is Calm" during the holiday season, do it. You will have an extraordinary theater experience. By the way, "All is Calm" is an original production of Theater Latte Da. Like I said...this theater is true gem.
Saw 12 Angry Men just now. First time we have been to this venue, and boy were we treated to a top notch, relevant, well acted, raw experience. Wow. We'll be getting season tickets based on this.
Twelve Angry Men is a brilliantly produced and performed at every level. What a great way to re enter the world of live theater after 2 years of missing live performance.
If you have a chance to see 12 Angry Men, I'd highly suggest doing so. (And thank you to the Minneapolis Arts/Theatre folks for working to keep us all safe and healthy) We had a wonderful evening!
Have yet to see a bad show produced by Theater Latte Da!! Always an entertaining time!!!
I don't have enough superlatives to describe "All Is Calm". The talented cast was amazing. The music, story line, and performances were all exceptionally good. It was an unforgettable afternoon with my family. I could go on with all the superlatives in my quiver but hopefully you get the point!
The theater is beautiful! This was our first time to attend a musical at Theater Latte Da, we had a wonderful experience. The show itself was absolutely amazing! Bravo to the entire cast and crew.
I loved the performance of La Boheme. My first opera and all was great - loved the "subtitles". I thought the singing and dancing was outstanding but what was extraordinary was the music - the instruments chosen for this were perfect and the conductor was amazing. The whole music score was brilliant!
Friendly, helpful staff goes above and beyond to assist patrons. Outdoor seating area to enjoy if you arrive early to enjoy a beverage. Drinks are allowed inside theater. Masks and Covid card are required as of 5 2022.
We saw All is Calm at the Ritz Theater. It was fantastic. The production left us with tears in our eyes nearly the whole 65 minutes. The experience at the theater itself was also very positive and COVID safe.
Very interesting presentation of a truly horrific war during which one one brief moment of civility and common decency occurred. The play was very unique in that it was continual, used very sparse props with a mix of quotes and familiar tunes of the time with all the soldiers in dark uniform such that the dialogue and songs required focus on the story of this unique event.
I have enjoyed several productions here . You would not expect such incredible shows at a relatively small theater with mostly local talent. The customer service manager is the best! BTW...this theater is in the old Ritz movie theater
Fantastic I had never seen La Boheme before and wondered how they would manage the subtitles but it was seamless The sets and performers were just great!
Great play. The cast was fabulous. Ten men with wonderful voices tell the story about the Christmas eve truce of 1914.
Theater Latté Da provides the Twin Cities with some of the best musical theatre and plays in the area. Under the direction of Peter Rothstein, the theatre is breaking barriers, taking care of their artists and staff, and providing the community with a captivating and unique performing arts opportunity. My experiences have been nothing short of overwhelmingly positive since I began attending, and have no plans to stop. The front of house staff is always pleasant as well and make the theatre easy and comforting to attend.
I have never seen a show here that wasn't fabulous! Consistently some of the best theater in the Twin Cities!
We got some of the last tickets available to the performance Chicago. I was a little worried being in the last row "M", but we had a great view of the full stage and actually preferred sitting toward the back. The show is very interactive with the first several rows, and made it a fun night.
How have I never been here before? Theater Latte Da specializes in musicals, and while there are certainly many other theaters in the Twin Cities area, Theater Latte Da's version of A Little Night Music is among the best local theater I've seen in the area. Local theater fans, if you've mostly gone to places like the Guthrie, don't skip out on Theater Latte Da, especially if you enjoy musicals.
Saw Once and was absolutely blown away—best musical performance I’ve seen in the past few years. Smile didn’t leave my face the entire first act. Pure magic to the cast and director. Excited to buy season tickets!
We attended the opening of Ragtime last night and it was spectacular!!!
The acting ,singing and relevant message were extremely well done.
It was our first time at Theater Latte Da and we will certainly be back for more performances.
Thank you for a delightful evening,
Jack and Margaret Smuckler
Amazing performance of “12 Angry Men” as a musical. A Minnesota original production. A must see!
You could tell that they worked really hard to make everything believable. The set, props, layout, audience participation, sound and lighting was all amazing. They definitely thought of everything, and the more you looked at the set the more tiny details you'd notice. As a tech person I really loved that aspect of it. Would recommend without a doubt.
I just had an amazing customer service experience with Theater Latte Da and felt compelled to write a review. For the first time in my life my husband & I purchased season tickets. Typically we only go to a show or two a year at different theater organizations across the twin cities, but I wanted to change that and start experiencing more of the awesome theater out there. (Especially after seeing the awesome line up for their 2018/2019 season.) This was a little spendy for us, and I was concerned after purchasing to read that the seats were selected for us and worried we might end up in the way back of the theater. I shared my concerns via email and immediately received a call from an incredibly helpful woman named Emily who walked me through each show we purchased and found me appropriate seats for all of them. Thank you Theater Latte Da for being so kind and accommodating and I cannot wait to experience your full 2018/2019 season!
High quality original productions. Lucky to live in Minneapolis with high quality theater such as this.
I love this theater company! Very professional. I don't hesitate when ordering tickets. I've never left disappointed.
We have seen so many amazing shows here! From Into The Woods, to to A Christmas Carol Petersen, the most recent All Is Calm, Peter Rothstein knows how to elicit all emotions. I have laughed, cried, and left most introspective. No matter the emotion, we are entertained and always richer for the experience. We will be back again...and again...and again...
Small and intimate theater that puts out high quality productions. Great staff and easy location.
I saw their performance of Assassins, and we absolutely LOVED it. I'm excited to see more shows there, and I'll definitely be watching out now for the cast members in other twin cities shows!
Great show to watch there, friendly staff & actors.
Skip the expensive trip to New York and enjoy the best local theater group Minneapolis offers. Theater Latte Da offers a fresh take on classical musicals and new plays. The revolving cast features prized local actors and its material ranges from new plays to Sondheim material. The theater is located in NE Mpls next to some of the hottest restaurants like NE Social and Young Joni. Free parking to boot.
Best anti-covid requirements of any theater in twin cities. Great shows as always.
Once; Fabulous Show. I hadn't been to a musical in a few years and I was swept off my feet. Cast was spectacular. The transitions, music and talent were just superb.

Great place. Now with more bathrooms. Still not enough but the lobby is not large enough for more.
One day left to see this fantastic show. Everything was superb.
