Reviews of The Lab Theater
We were absolutely delighted by The Moving Company's production of What If on the last day of its run. Such a cool theatre space too, like a blank canvas primed for painting with words and action. We'll definitely be back.
We took our 5 year olds to see the Danger Committe at the theater. The venue space was open and pleasant although the risers were a little uneven and easy to trip on. It's also subterranean so keep in mind that walking up and down stairs will be necessary, however an elevator is available The staff was very friendly including the box office, ushers and bartender. There were just enough options at the concession stand to satisfy. There was an irritating issue with one of the lapel mics but it could have been due to a placement issue. The Danger Committe was great and I think we might need to make seeing them an annual tradition.
This theater is fantastic. I have done three shows here and I just saw Spring Awakening tonight. Don't walk, run to the Lab to see this show. The cast is outstanding under the direction of Ryan Nielson, who I had the pleasure of sitting next to. Also got to chat with Mara Currens. What a sweet and incredibly talented young lady. I will definitely be seeing it again next weekend before the three week run ends. That is all, carry on.
I’ve attended both the Minneapolis Burlesque Festival and Pink & White Ball multiple times at this beautiful venue. The stage is impressive and I’ve always enjoyed myself at this venue. Well organized, friendly staff and convenient parking right across the street.
My husband, daughter and I had the privilege of seeing Light the World in December. The entire performance, from the DJ and lighting to the tap dancing and singing was top notch. The theatre is beautiful. The stories told through song, dance, hoop, and aerial art were extremely moving. I am usually quite reserved, but I absolutely loved this show. We will definitely be back!
Great Mpls theater hosting wonderful companies such as the fabulous Interact Center. I highly suggest checking out 'Feast of Fools' presented by Interact and really anything at the Lab Theater. A really wonderful arena for live performance. Highly recommended for performances in a very comfortable setting. Enjoy!
We came here to see the Danger Committee after catching their act at the Ren Fair. It was even better here and we had a great time. Parking was easy and the venue was nice. You do sit pretty close together though. Great show.
This is a great space to throw an intimate show. It is a three story room with excellent sound and lighting. Elevator access for people in a wheelchair. Seating is unnumbered general access with some tables used for VIP. They have a table top beverage sales area where they serve beer, wine, soda, and water.
Had a wonderful time here. Was about to watch high school composers works be performed here. Excellent intimate setting.
One of the coolest venues in Minneapolis! While waiting in line to pay for parking a very nice person of The Labs staff came over and said we could pay for parking inside at the box office, saving time and us from waiting in the cold. Over all a great experience and a beautiful venue!!
We were there for the Danger Committee Christmas show. It was great, as always. The venue is largish...but the bathrooms are near the entrance at the top. The seating is in the dungeon many steps below. Remember that.
The space is very versatile. Being there it feels very spacious and open which is fantastic. The staff there was nice and there parking system was interesting and easy to use. If I got the chance to view something at the Lab again, I would.
Saw a show put on by the fabulous Aaron Rice, Emily Blacik Joos and Renee Starr with dancers from MYDT a couple weeks ago. The venue was superb as well as the staff. Loved the whole night!
This place was amazing! Me and several friends went and saw their shows, "Arden Of Faversham" and "Much Ado About Nothing," and, I must say, they were brilliant!!!! "Arden" was so depressing, and I've never seen it before but, the way they preformed it, along with the twist ending, made me fall in absolute love with the play! The actress portraying Alice in particular stood out to me and the way she showed shock and horror and grief absolutely yanked at my soul!!!! And I can't even express how enjoyable and hilarious their production of "Much Ado" was!!!! I got strong "mamma mia" vibes from the setting and clothes, but I also feel that the same things, along with the staging and the physical comedy itself added so much to their performance!!! I also adored the actors who played Benedict and Don John, as their portrayals were nothing less than hilarious! I hope to return to see more performances here in the future!
Attended the concert, it was an awesome experience. Special mention to Will Zachery and Vanessa for such awesome performance. Had complementary champagne and dessert. It was delightful.
SUPER COOL VENUE! Theatre space has a gorgeous, underground, industrial vibe. Audience seating is nicely terraced, so theres no bad seat in the house!
Seating is set up with a good viewing angle so stage can be seen. Row spacing is good so people can walk by. Hang up coats, there is no room to hang on your chair.
One of the more unique theaters I've been in. You walk through the doors and look down two stories into the theater. It's intimate and cozy with great walls and ambiance.
The Lab is a gorgeous historic venue suitably located in the warehouse district. With stunning original architecture and seating & lighting to please all, you definitely shouldn't miss it!
Easy to find in the North Loop. Parking right across the street. Enjoyed the family friendly production of The Knife before Christmas by the Danger Committee. Very fun and entertaining.
Crash Dance Productions had an amazing performance here, and it was at least partially due to this gorgeous venue. I'm excited to come back and see some more performances in the Lab Theater.
The building is nice, it's auditorium is wonderful however, it has a large staircase so anyone with a fear of heights might want to avoid more than others
not only is the venue really aesthetically pleasing but the people working up front were absolutely wonderful with working with my family when we needed a special accommodation. amazing place
Nice open theater. The show Danger Committee was awesome!
Easy to access theater. Hint, if you park in the lot across the street. Park in the spots labeled LAB, you can then pay for your parking in that theater, instead of paying at the pay machine outside.
Great space!! We attended the Cabarave show there and loved it. Great performance by great artists, beautiful space, and affordable beverage.
Nice theater I performed there. Good lighting and sound. The air conditioning was not so good. Overall it's a decent place.
Was at the Lab Theater to watch the Danger Committee. Great holiday show. The Theater was nice, not sure how other performances do at this location.
Great space. Versatile and affordable. Wonderful art takes place when The Moving Company takes the stage.
Very cool building and excellent parking! Loved the show we saw as well
Great atmosphere. Perfect staging for the show I saw. Great music and staff was outgoing!
No curtains on this stage. The dancers warm up in full view of us all. It was gorgeous to watch
Came here for a play. Location is nice and in the city. Staff are very nice and helpful. Plays at this location are enthralling and poignant. Seats are a little uncomfortable however.
Working for Classical Actors Ensemble at The Lab.
Amazing all around !! Such awesome shows with great casts. High quality, fun, heartfelt productions!!
My daughters dance recital was on the lab. It was a good venue with good seating, sightlines, and sound.
This was an awesome space and I would love to reach out to the theatre to see if I can use this space for a production.
Cool space. I was here for a burlesque show, the acoustics were good and no problem with seeing the performance.
Had a great time there. The burlesque show was awsome. Plus the vip ticker were not that expensive.
I highly recommend the show The Knife Before Christmas! Great show and I love the entertainment surrounding the knife throwing!!!
Very unique Art performances. Specializing in avant garde style performances. Experimental, different and occasionally brilliant
Such an amazing venue to both watch a show and perform in one.
An interesting, black-box type of theatre in Minneapolis. A wide variety of different shows
Saw an amazing show here. Everything was clean and we'll organized
Incredible show! MBF was awesome! So much talent!
Fun theater space. Feels very high end, but shows are usually inexpensive.
Saw Sueno by Pangea. Amazing! If u get a chance please go! Very well done!!!
The Lab is a great theater space. Very versatile. This is what theater is all about.
The Danger Committee is the best act around. Entertaining from start to finish.
Awesome, open setting, in a refubished industrial space, for experimental theater at its best.
Most seats close to stage. Sord throwing show was entertaining.
Open industrial type theater space, not a bad seat in the house though.
I wonderful unique venue with a long history of unique shows!
A little warm but watching my brother in law perform in Shoma, priceless!
Went here for a theater performance, and it was absolutely beautiful.
Super cool venue and great show!
Went for "feast of the fools", it is an amazing place. Accessible to physically handicap.
Not the most luxurious of seating, but incredible raw space
It's just a theater in the warehouse district and one parking lot. Come early for your show.
Fun place, could've been more organized for guests , bars...
Wonderful venue with a unique backdrop and staging.
Love the Burlesque shows here from Elektra Cute Presents!
Acoustics need a little help but the production of Odysseus was great!

My only problem was that the restroom is upstairs and everyone was on the bottom level
