Reviews of Orpheum Theatre

This is a beautiful historic theater, with great details and motifs throughout. They usually host some very high quality shows such as touring Broadway productions. Most seats have an unobstructed view and good acoustics. I personally recommend sitting in the front few rows of the balcony. I feel like that's the best view overall. I'm torn between giving it a five star or not because given the history of the theater the leg space can be really tight AND the bathroom situation, especially for women, is pretty intense. They do their best with ushers to try to get as many people through as possible but there just aren't enough bathrooms for everyone during intermission.

This is a nice old theater. Great motifs throughout, lots of seating with good views for many of the seats and nice acoustics. We sat in Balcony 6, row K seats 5-6 (see picture from Wicked show prior to start). Well produced shows. The only one star hit is tied to the leg space of the seats - our tickets were $120 each and was quite tight for being 5'10"

Excellent venue, shows, employees and staff. Popular shows = packed crowds & bathrooms. There are bathrooms on different levels if you're looking to use other bathrooms. The price for beverdiges are higher than expected, so come prepared to spend higher than usual for beverdiges. Parking is easy, you can park on their lot for $25 (as of this review and show), which is located on the side of the building or find parking else where. Overall, an excellent theatre!

Watched the last act of Wicked on closing night in Minneapolis on August 28th. We were seated on the main floor row DD seats 6+7. So waaay in the back. However the sound quality was good and the seats were placed in a way that people's heads weren't a major obstacle in my viewing experience. The seats are also high enough. Keep in mind I'm 4'9" in all my glory and I didn't have any issues viewing the stage.
Wicked was awesome. Kudos to the cast and crew.

This theatre is great. It has old school vibes which is perfect for a theatre experience. All of the staff I interacted with were nice and knowledgeable. The show itself (Letterkenny Live) was absolutely amazing. It just has that old school regal feel and I'd definitely go see another show there.

The Orpheum Theatre is a beautiful place in Minneapolis to visit and experience a Broadway performance or whatever else exciting they may have going on. Stage is wonderful and easy to view from any seat and well worth going to! Staff are very professional and pleasant which makes the experience even better!

We saw Amos Lee here. Fast entry (no vax check, what's up with that?) Pretty quick bar line. My seat was the end seat in a row, close to the right wall of the theater. There was a big black speaker on the stage (both sides) that blocked 25% of the stage for me and a few seats to my left. For my row and all the rows in front and behind me. Dozens of people were in the same boat - two guitarists were rarely visible, and we never saw the keyboard player.

Absolutely beautiful theater! The structure is breathtaking itself. Being there definitely feels like you’re in a dream
Staff is a plenty. Everyone is very nice and knowledge - or at least willing to find a solution or answer to your inquiry.
Bathrooms are clean with many stalls. Very large and well lit.
Drinks are a little steep for portion and genericness. 1-2 is worth the experience overall. Bar lines tend to be long. There’s an upstairs bar with bathrooms as well as bathrooms and a bar towards the end of the hallway that tend to have shorter lines.
Audio is heard well throughout. I’ve sat upper level front section of the balcony (right if facing stage) and lower level underneath balcony/ overhang twice- once center back and once back left ( stage facing). Great views in all areas.
All of the events I’ve attended disclose that no personal audio is to be recorded or attendants will escort them out. BUT - on all 3 occasions there’s been other guests using their phones throughout the show - rude and distracting - and employees who stand at the entrances and on the side have never taken action. Not sure what to say about that.
Over all amazing establishment

The Orpheum building is absolutely beautiful inside. We got the opportunity to see Wicked and it was such a treat. The staff did an amazing job helping everyone during intermission to get through the bathrooms, and after the show warning them about strange steps. You can buy treats or drinks inside. If you get a chance to attend a show here I recommend it.
Rhea Tauer
Absolutely beautiful theater. Excellent performance of the Broadway Musical Anastasia. Fantastic staging, costumes, and lighting.
Only criticism, tight space for legs, and seating between folks. Drinks were also plenty pricy, however expected.
Lisa Smith
This theatre is gorgeous! Entry was slick, staff was pleasant, there are bars and restrooms on each floor. I have seen many Broadway shows here and they are all fantastic. The sound quality, lighting and orchestra pit are actually better than Broadway shows I've seen in NYC.
David Fletcher (RegNeoJazz)
Great theater...the sighines are decent.
I will say if you are shorter, I think from the main floor seating you could have some difficulty seeing the stage if someone taller sits infront of you.
Women: The lines to that bathroom can be on the long. Prepare accordingly. 😊
Ashley Cunningham
Wonderful theater! It's gorgeous on the inside and has an old time feel. We had seats in the second row, far left side of the stage. They were "limited view" seats but I had no complaints! They take show times seriously and make sure everyone is seated when they should be to limit interruptions from people coming and going, which is appreciated. The only downside is that there's one women's restroom with multiple stalls. So the bathroom line is extremely long during intermission. I still give them 5 stars as the female staff handling the bathroom line are professional and as organized as ever! It seems impossible to get everyone in that long line through the bathroom in 15 minutes, but they do it! Even if you don't make it back to your seat by the time intermission is over, you're still able to watch the show on a large screen in the hall right outside the theater until the opening song/scene is over.
Now came back for my second show here. Wonderful!
Benjamin Meyer
Watched Wicked during the final week of the show. The production was phenomenal! The theater could have better visibility from the main level. Got a sore neck constantly looking around heads in front of me. The crowd was quite bawdy, lots of drinking, got wine spilled on me by the lady in the seat next to me. Several interruptions from late comers with people standing and doors opening. Seats and isles are narrow. Next play I see will be at the Ordway in St. Paul.
Jennifer Braun
This theater is a gem. Beautiful architecture. Great sounds. Nice to have an intimate experience with an artist instead of a large stadium. Darius Rucker and Caylee Hamack were magical.
Tia Halverson
Saw Wicked tonight ! The cast did an amazing job! It was my first time seeing the musical. I was super impressed at how well they did!
Thank you for an amazing performance ❤️

This was my first visit to the Orpheum Theater in Minneapolis. It was extraordinarily well managed from buying my ticket to the finale. I bought a ticket on the last day of the run for Moulin Rouge. The system was so well designed that I was even given a view of the stage from the precise seat I had chosen. I had a little trouble because you must use your cell phone as your entry ticket, and I was clumsy with that. But, I got in. There was a well run bar with a gracious barman just beyond the entry and I could have a cocktail or soda. The interior decor was GREAT. You really know you’re in a historic building. I had balcony seats and I don’t know if there is an elevator. After I arrived at the first level of the balcony, I still had to walk up about 10 more stairs. Seating wasn’t too very cramped. I think taller men, over 6’ tall, might be uncomfortable tho. Acoustics were great and I could hear most of the spoken dialogue. After the performance, exciting the theater seemed to be magically smooth. There weren’t throngs of people pushing over each other trying to get to their parked car or taxi 🚕.
I’ve written too much already but my experience at the Orpheum in Minneapolis to see Moulin Rouge was A+ grand!
Annabelle Merchant
The show was awesome! The theater was well laid out and the concessions lines were short. The restroom line was very long during intermission, if you didn't get in line immediately, you would not make it back to the show before they closed the doors.
ariel smith
Went here for Trolls Live. Family loved it, from the bottom section there were really no bad seats. We had middle far left and could see great. The mens bathroom is a little far and the girls had a long line. Only downside is that they didn't have to many options for snacks but they did have a couple.

Seeing Joe Bonamassa at the Orpheum was absolutely amazing and the acoustics spectacular. Joe and his band was incredible. The Orpheum is a great venue to see a show at.
Dave Oertle
The Orpheum (for that matter, all of the main downtown theaters) provides such a classic and intimate setting to see any live act that you like. Joe Bonamassa was amazing. He delivers an unforgettable show that just leaves you in awe of his blues mastery.
Brandon Haag
Saw Les Miserables and was absolutely enthralled! The seats in the back had very restricted foot space, but the sound was still amazing. Find your favorite musical and treat yourself
minja81
Spectacular! We saw Frozen Musical and my daughters were just in awe. Will be returning again. Staff was helpful, place was clean and was easy to find parking right across the street in the ramp.
Alex Rudie
I have no complaints about this place. The interior is gorgeous and well maintained. The place is clean and tidy. Efficient entry to events and people with signs to mark the end of merch and bathroom lines. Decent snack options are available.
Naomi Dee
We saw Wicked , which was wonderfully done! The audience was so appreciative as well. (I appreciate appreciation these days) Intermission is a bit of a crunchy chaotic bind for women with regard to the restroom situation... but older nostalgic venues do their best to work with what they have and the employees made it easier to navigate the lines.
Brittany Doyouneedmylastname
Beautiful in and out- please just add another bathroom. Also, getting seats under the balcony really hinders your experience as a watcher. So much gets cut off from view if you are under the second floor.
Tonia Friday
The Orpheum Theatre is beautiful inside! The stage is great as well! The staff is wonderful and very helpful!
Drinks are pretty high price, 4 drinks cost us $90! Just beware of that if you weren't expecting that!
The seating is tight if you are tall or not a petite person. My husband and father were touching the seats with their knees and felt crowded with their arms.
Lines during intermission you have to get to the bathrooms early if you don't want to miss the beginning of the first act. I almost missed my daughter dance in the Nutcracker and still didn't get to use the restroom as the lines were really long. It's recommended that you use the bathroom prior and just not drink anything to not risk having to go during intermission.
Derek Siroin
Orpheum Theatre in Minneapolis, good spot, lots of action right around here. Especially if the Timberwolves are playing so get there early so you aren’t stuck in heavy traffic.
Inside is nice, older building for sure. Literally no leg room in the gallery/seats, I’ll be honest, it was horrible seating through 3 hours of show, so uncomfortable but I am tall so there is that.
Also, that picture walking into the seats, I almost broke my ankles like 10 times… it is a serious issue.
Nonetheless, crowd was electric haha.
Dave Miller
At 101 years old this place is a gem. It helps that Les Miserable was playing. We sat in the upper balcony and the views were still great. The staff was accommodating, helpful and friendly.
Nic with No K
The Orpheum is always lovely but when it is completely sold out don't count on making it back to your seat in time after an intermission if you have to use the restroom.
Seats are comfortable enough, views from most seats are quite good as far as I can tell, sound quality is excellent throughout. Highly recommend visiting this beautiful theater if you're in the area.
Rob Sutherlin
Even the bad seats are pretty good. The acoustics are amazing and the venue itself is wonderful. It can be a cluster*ck trying to get in with the more popular shows, but the lines move quickly, so it's not as terrible as some places. Parking around the area is a racket. Some places it's 25, other it's 9 - so plan where you want to park.
They give decent pours for drinks, and not too pricey, which is great. I absolutely love this venue and can't wait for some of the final shows this year. Wicked was absolutely phenomenal.
Joy Cooper
Just saw Cats here today! The lighting was incredible, the actors were phenomenal, and the overall experience was amazing. Highly recommend
Tibbe Luell
Such a beautifully kept historic space! We watched Les Miserables and the talent was unmatched. The acoustics in the theatre were phenomenal to support such incredible voices. I had a coughing spell and the staff was extremely helpful as I stepped out and helping me back in at an appropriate time. Just all around wow!
Andrew Scheffler
Went to see Les Miserables. Show was awesome. Staff is very accommodating. Orpheum had a nice private nursing room for my wife.
Drinks are expensive and you don't get a lot but you can bring them into theater.
Very good date night, would highly recommend!
Christy Anderson
A great production of the play Wicked, with cast that brought amazing vocals pleasing to the ear. Each actor showcases their talent by becoming the character drawing the audience throughout feeling the emotion that live theater brings to the audience laughter, suspense happiness fear etc.. A+ performance of a long running Broadway hit. A enjoyable and a memorable experience for our whole family of all ages !
Megan Heiser
Great venue, clean and comfortable! The railings could use a little tightening though.
babszolla k
I love this theater, not really too many bad seats in the house. Seats are comfy, but if you are shorter (or for kids) they have extra cushions to add to your seat to prop you up. The sound is great and productions are well done, staff couldn't be nicer. Parking close by and reasonable.
Jennifer Evenson
It was beautiful the architecture is stunning. We seen an amazing show. The acoustics are fantastic. Seats would have been fabulous in the very center of the theater...but, they were corner balcony seats and if you are tall your knees will be smashed for the whole show. Felt rather like a sardine. And ladies restroom interesting though it is, it's a maze trying to find the stalls.
Tami Nelson
Love this venue! Intimate, intriguing setting to see Joe Satriani!
Gabrielle Schliesmann
First of all, this is a beautiful theatre with a rich history, and you can really appreciate the architecture. Reminded me of phantom of the opera when I walked in.
My husband and I saw Wicked, and were glad that we read the reviews before arriving regarding the bathroom situation - be prepared for a long line during intermission, and most likely missing the first few minutes of the second act due to that.
The seats we had were not great - even though they said we wouldn’t have a blocked view, we ended up having a blocked view of the upper part of the set due to the balcony overhang which was disappointing because those of you who know the set know that there is a large dragon at the top. Something was wrong with the way the sound was set up as well - it seemed that there were speakers all pointing away from us and none pointed toward our section, so we could hardly hear some of the solos.
Overall, 3/5; we will definitely pick different seats if we come back again.
Tyler Scheeler
Beautiful venue! Great performance... bought 2 tickets to Wicked and our friends bought 2 next to us but apparently we needed to buy 4 at once because they changed our seating days before the show and split us apart... it was very sad for our spouses who had been looking forward to getting together for the show for weeks
Troy Kowalski
The staff was nice and the event we saw allowed for event parking ahead of time. Unfortunately common human decency of not talking during a performance has seemed to be lost and it interfered with my ability to enjoy the show that was being put on. The seats are also not conducive to taller people in the balcony seating area.
Jordan Butler
I saw Wicked last night and it was AMAZING! Drinks are pricey and bathroom lines are longer than you’d expect. However, those two factors didn’t taint the amazing Orpheum experience!! Great night and can’t wait to go back soon!
Diane Satriano
This theater is gorgeous on the inside! We saw hairspray with a group of 5 with one person holding all the tickets. We were through security in just minutes and had no problems finding our seats with help from employees.
There are multiple bars to make buying wine or beer a quick process. The only downside was the long lines for the bathrooms during intermission. I realize it might be silly to dock a star for that, but I would give 5 if they had more restrooms and better signage for them.
Otherwise it was a lovely and seamless experience. I would go back anytime.
Sheryl Prantner
We went to see Joe Bonamassa in this absolutely gorgeous theater. I was a Birthday present for my husband. And it felt like a intimate concert experience. Loved it so much. We would like to explore some more of theater in the future 😀😉😄😊😁
Way to go Orpheum. Lots of parking and reasonable prices too.
Loved, Loved, Loved, it.
Chris Nohner
We saw an afternoon performance of Wicked. The show was pretty good - our seats were at the very back so it was hard to hear everything.
The Orpheum is a gorgeous old theatre, but it's old- uncomfortable seats and no leg room for my tall frame. Would go again, just have to pay more for better seats and to avoid being surrounded by families with kids
Ann Mitchell
The show, actors, set, etc.were excellent. Our seats-not so good.We had seats in row HH, the last row of the main floor. If you are over 5'7" tall, do not buy seats in that row! I am 6' tall, my husband is 6'3". Our legs did not fit. We had to sit sideways through the entire performance. We are not certain how many rows are like that in the theater, but found that just one row in front of us there was an extra 4 inches of leg room. When booking the seats, there was no info regarding the difference in space in between the rows. We recommend buying seats in row W if you are tall. There is approx. 8 feet of space in front of that row because it is likely considered fire exit space.
Kate Brandt
Saw Wicked here. Seats were on the last row of the theater and it is NOT worth the money if you can't sit closer - you can't see the show and miss a lot of the small parts that make it fun. Bathrooms are only on the first floor. It's a gorgeous theater but it's old and makes viewings tough.
Aimee Granheim
Just saw Les Miserables and the show was great. The security to get in seems to change every time I go.
Tia Marie
Went to see wicked. Seated in row j and has an excellent view. Enjoyed an amazing show and was a wonderful gift to give to someone special. Would definitely suggest going to the side entrance, absolutely no wait.
Dawn LaCoursiere
The Orpheum Theater is one of my favorite in Mpls. The experience and play were excellent!! My son is deaf so had 3 very skilled wonderful interpreters signing the production of Hairspray! It was so much fun and my son chatted with them and told them what an amazing job they were doing and how much he appreciated them. We will be going back to hopefully see Hamilton this spring! ❤️❤️❤️
Billy A
Okay so the theater is gorgeous. And Taylor Tomlinson was hilarious. The Orpheum is like the perfect downtown location. Everyone there is very friendly. Can't believe I'd never been there before. Can't wait for the next show they have!
Kristin
I love this theater but I'm going to give it four stars because the seating really could use an update. The chairs are very snug and not very comfortable. If you are a bigger or taller person get an aisle seat so you can angle your legs and you won't feel quite so cramped.
Andrea Juve
We love the Orpheum but certainly wish there were better restroom solutions and drink stand options. If you want to grab something during an intermission, good luck! It is a beautiful theater and treasure to our city otherwise!
Devon Dodge
Went here this evening to see Les Miserables. Absolutely wonderful experience. The sound was great even in less than ideal seats, the staff were friendly, and the atmosphere was magical.
Definitely would see more shows here!
Sarah
Beautiful theater I've been to dozens of times. This time really let me know I'm getting old and more uncomfortable in the older seats. While I love the vintage look of things, I would also enjoy some updated seating for larger bodies!
Scott Berglund
Over the years I have been to a few performances here. It is always excellent, and the staff is always friendly and helpful.
Not only does the theater look pretty cool from the outside, but once you get inside you will be amazed at the beauty of this place.
The staff are always very nice and helpful, and the productions here are the absolute BEST!!! I have never been disappointed by anything I have ever seen here.
Emily Walker
Beautiful theater that puts on great productions. I wish there was more leg room for the seats on the balcony, even with me being a little over 5 foot, my knees were touching the seat in front of me, not tall people friendly on the top, but the seating down below has more room
Alexandra Dobie
I loved this place and the service was great. Except for one thing, I heard that multiple people wished that there were more bathrooms because of how long the line gets. However it was a beautiful place and the musical (Wicked) was amazing.
Paul Agustin
Beautiful theater, the seats are quite comfortable even for a person with back issues. The staff was wonderful and extremely friendly. No big sight line issues.
Gary Sather
It's a good concert venue. Be aware of your surroundings downtown, it didn't seem very safe on the street or in the parking ramp. Glad we were in a group.
TheWoodFly
This Show is Cheaper than Gas: STOP What you are doing and GO SEE THIS!!! I am a pilot. Literally fly the world over. Laughed my behind off at this show. It is original, outrageous, full of committed people who enjoy their craft. Best VALUE for the dollar. Nope, not a shill - they didn't pay me nothin' - I bought my ticket and had a GREAT evening and you will too. Go support them!
Katie McCall
Beautiful theater and the show we saw was amazing! The bathroom situation was unfortunate. The line for the ladies restroom was so long during intermission that several people were not able to make it through the bathroom line before intermission was over. Seems like a silly thing to complain about, but it did make the experience less nice. 🤷♀️
Nissa Nystrom Weber
We have absolutely loved the quality shows we've seen at the Orpheum. They really have top notch talent coming to their stage. The only complaint we have is the seating. My husband is 6'3" and he is in pain and discomfort for most of the show. The leg room is so tight for him, he has a hard time even adjusting his position to get some relief. I know it's a big ask, but, having some more affordable seating that the tall people can access, so, that they can truly relax and enjoy a show would be amazing. Atm, after suffering through Moulin Rouge and Wicked, we're not sure we'll buy anymore tickets here and that's a shame.
Grant Ruhoff
Went to see Taylor Tomlinson. The show was great.
The venue was beautiful, and the seating was awesome. The balcony seats are on enough of an incline that you can easily see the stage.
The refreshments were expensive, and if you use a card, it has an automatic 18% gratuity.
Isabella Ialongo
Came for the Bono Surrender 40 songs, one story show. Show and venue were amazing! We had issues with the Yondr staff though. I understand the show called for no cellphones which was completely fine though we had issues when we left the venue and had to unlock our phones outside. We had our phones unlocked outside by a female employee who took our phone pouch, unlocked it, and then accidentally dropped it on the pavement. Accidents happen, but she proceeded to tell us that "she's not responsible if our phones drop on the ground". I get its a stressful environment, but just say I'm sorry. Come on.
Rebeca Bernhagen
Always a good time, they bring great performances to Minneapolis!
Nick Freeman
Went to see the nutcracker. Fantastic theater, not a lot of leg room for the seats so beware. But other than that, it's historical and gorgeous.
Jan Kidd
Saw Cats ( nat'l touring company), on 10/25. We had seats in Orchestra pit, 2nd row. Beautiful theater. Don't use TicketMasters recommended parking. Very confusing to get back to your car after the show.
Collecting Minnesota
Great venue for a blues show. JOE BONAMASSA rocked the house Saturday November 11th. One of the greatest showman of all time.
alvin wong
Awesome theater with great ambiance. Went there to see Wicked which was fantastic! Would love to see more shows there in the future.
Nick L
Balcony 5, row E, seat 8. Perfect view of Phantom!
7/29/22
Balcony 7, row E, seat 5. Just saw Wicked there!
Jessica Wilson
Beautiful theatre! Highly recommended. This historic theatre is impressive and very worth the visit. We saw The Book of Mormon and it was absolutely hilarious! The theatre gets very full. The seats are a bit small for leg room and comfort, but are plenty sufficient for a 3 hour production. Unfortunately, the lower level seats aren't sloped sufficiently. I was behind an 8 foot giant who kept moving his head back and forth. It made for a frustrating experience.
Steve Dickes
What a wonderful theater. Intimate and spacious; lovely and ornate; with good acoustics and sight lines. We have seen numerous musicals and concerts here and most recently we saw Hamilton.
8/30/2019 update.
We just attended the Mark Knopfler concert. Great show for sure made even better by this wonderful venue.
Shawn Clifford
I've been here a few times an loved it, the culture you can feel in the walls and the the stage, even the lighting fixtures. The first show I sat on the balcony and yes, its for people with no legs, or little to none leg room, but it kept you sitting upright and watching the show. The second time I sat on the lower level which I prefer, The show this time wasn't going to fit on stage as I thought and its bigger then your eyes can show you. It felt really climatic sitting closer to the stage.
Noah Lucas
Classic building and beautiful interior. There really isn't a bad seat in the house. I visited the Orpheum to see Hamilton in September. We were seated on the floor near the back and it was still excellent. Obviously it would have been nice to be seated near the front, but the sound and experience was still excellent. Great venue!
J P
The staffing at the Orpheum is absolutely top notch. Everything is well organized, even the lines to the bathroom during intermission. The venue is a beautiful, cozy treasure of the twin cities. Full vaccination, masks, and ID checks are in place for all guests and staff.
Jenny S
Went there for the first time ever to see Pretty Woman The Musical! Fabulous Show! Glad they have a theater entrance via the sky way so we never had to go outside (a big plus in Minneapolis when it’s February)
Michael Ritland
Fantastic theater! We have been to several musicals here. No bad seats, great sound and tech!
Eric Morley
We saw Jersey Boys on this visit, but have seen so many shows with the Hennepin Theatre Trust. Jersey Boys was one of the best performances my wife and I have seen in years. We are thankful that COVID protocols are observed and enforced. We will be back again and again and again!
joshua-taylor
i recently came to watch fiddler on the roof at the Orpheum Theatre! i had a great experience. not only was the play amazing but staff and venue was fantastic. the only issue i noticed was i sometimes could hear the outside from my seat but it wasn’t that distracting. all in all, i had a great time at the Orpheum and will have to come back to see more shows!!
Rebecca Eilers
Very beautiful theater. Our seats were great. Enjoyed
Shana Sandoz Thiele
Beautiful venue 😍 every seat is a great one. …
Patrick Burns
Saw the Broadway musical, Come from Away.. Show was Phenomenal.. Really enjoyed it.. Beautiful theater..
Jamal Furat Mussa
Don’t judge this place by its age! It’s been around since the 1900’s and is amazing with its fascinating inside with great designs. I have lived here for almost all of my life and came here for maybe the 3rd time for a show. I came here a while back when Chris Rock was here and he was amazing. Celebs preform shows here, plays are preformed, classic movies and playing like Kings of Leon, Lion King and many more are preformed here. Now I won’t lie, it gets packed and crowded when there’s anything here as it’s conveniently located off Hennepin where everything is based like all the best eats, drinks and clubs. It’s funny because from the outside it doesn’t look new, but you go in and it’s like historic designs get you drawn in. Come see a show or play here and you’ll thank me later. I brought my parents here and they got mad at me for not being them here before, sorry peeps! This theatre will amaze you and keep you coming back, I promise. Thank you Orpheum for the great services and hospitality!
Kurt Leichtle
The staff and show, the Temptations, were excellent. Sight lines and music levels were near perfect. The cast's energy level was amazing.
The only flaw was parking. The fee machine was not functioning. Directions for using your phone were present but... Imagine people largely over 60 trying to navigate on their phones in bright sun. Putting a staff person to assist would have been logical.
The overall experience was very good and we will be back.
Jenn Mata
Beautiful and historical theater. Fantastic show. Friendly staff.
D C
Beautiful venue! I'm so happy the city/county time and money into restoring this magnificent theatre. I saw Ain't too Proud to Beg the story of the Temptations! Incredible stunning, show!
Cherie Taylor
This is a great place to see quality Broadway shows in Minnesota. The place is clean and well run. The only reason it's not 5 stars is that I am 5'10" with long legs and there is just not enough leg room in the seats. After a 2 hour show I'm tired of my knees being pressed up against the seat in front of me.
James Albinson
Fantastic old theater. The Marx Brothers opened the first show in the Orpheum. we enjoyed the big Disney production of FROZEN.
Lindsay Bird
Have season tickets to Broadway shows and always enjoy. One complaint is the restroom situation. If you’re not halfway up the aisle as the intermission begins, you will likely be waiting in line for the entirety of the break. Would love if this could be remedied someday!
Noah Raisanen
Absolutely awesome old venue. The lobby/gallery is a nightmare though. You can't move anywhere during intermission
Brenda O
I attended Wicked this past weekend (8/13/22), my first time at the Orpheum. It's such a beautiful place! Not a bad seat in the place, unless you're short and generally can't see if sitting behind someone tall (like anywhere you'd go), then do the balcony. It was fairly quick to go thru the line, get a drink and find our seats. Only 2 improvements needed: 1) they need more restrooms! We had to exit the building and go to a bar because the lines were too long (1 bathroom per floor). Unless they're ok with people getting up or re-entering during the play (which we had to do, and sadly missed part of the play), they need more bathrooms, and 2) lower the price of alcohol, wine and beer were comparable $11 per glass, which seems quite high especially for a play we paid a lot of money to see (but the play was definitely worth the price).
Caron Gibson
Ain't Too Proud was a great show. Actors were fantastic singer & dancers just like The Temptations. Acoustics weren't the best but the players really belted out the songs. Made you want to join in!
Jonathan Smith (Smitti)
Amazing venue, and “Ain’t Too Proud” is a great show!
Michaela Quast
The one thing I did not like was that the actors did not bow at the end and be recognized for their work. Not only that the people would not let us get to our seats so we had to wait until the next act to get to our spot. I also would like to see where the actual spots are when we purchase our tickets, instead of searching in the dark of the theatre to find our spot.
Janice Hanson
Love the beautiful Orpheum Theatre! The Temptations show playing there now is excellent!
Amy Winkel
Went the Orpheum to see Wicked. Amazing production! Only problem is seating. When this beautiful theatre was built, it is obvious that people were much shorter than we are now. There isn't a lot of leg room.
Sylvia Hamilton
Went to Wicked here. It was a wonderful production. The line was quick to get in. The theater was clean and well kept. There were plenty of bathroom stalls upstairs and downstairs. There was plenty of toilet paper in each stall.
RX Yang
My first time here and first musical! The theatre was classic and the show was marvelous!
Melissa Peterson
Loved the theater. However, because people are absolute pigs, I wish snacks weren't sold. I was appalled at the mess left behind on the floors. As well as the sound of struggling to open up a chip bag etc during the show is extremely annoying and distracting. Also, a slingshot should be given out with every ticket sold. When someone stands up repeatedly to come and go from their seat or someone turns on their cell phones to update their Facebook, Twitter and or snapchat etc. during a show, or struggles to open up their stupid snack, the other patrons trying to enjoy the show could partake in revenge on the culprit(s).
sarah johanns
The temptations show was awesome- but the crowd’s behavior was disruptive- there were many people who were in the audience that were yelling out and talking during sometimes- sensitive scenes- and no one from the Orpheum did anything about it. That was too bad. The show was great/ the singing amazing.
Ethan Johnson
Saw wicked here, sat second level and the seating was excellent. The staff was very friendly and professional. Great location for shows in the Twin Cities.
David Novack
Always enjoy the Orpheum such a fantastic place to enjoy the theater.
Alexis Castillo
Went to see "The Bodyguard". The show itself was very good. The theater is a classic and as such its design (chandelier and artwork) are very nice. The one issue I had was leg space while seating (not enough and tight).
Kelly Henseler
Beautiful venue for all types of shows. Gender neutral bathrooms. Friendly staff. You can even pre-order drinks for intermission so you can skip the line!
Joshua Humbert
The show was absolutely fantastic! The theater itself is slightly outdated and the seats aren't the most comfortable, but the perfection of the show made it all worth while!
Brad Van
Gorgeous theater. Severe lack of leg room in most seats (5'5" guests had problems) average entrance halls. Good views from the lower balcony.
Nathan Thomas
Show was great, drinks were good, staff was awesome. But the acoustics made it hard to understand anytime multiple people were singing, the seats were uncomfortable and too cramped.
Rachel Storlie
Venue was easy to get to with parking lot across the street. My only complaint is the box level seating has more obstructed view than expected. There was an entire scene in Charlie & the Chocolate Factory where 4 of the actors in a bed could not be viewed whatsoever from the left side of the stage. Other times it was limited but not for an entire scene. I felt like they could've moved the set and characters further in to center stage so viewing wasn't limited. I would go to Orpheum again but not sit in the box seating areas.
Tanya Troska
I saw Wicked for the 2nd time in this Theater... pure magic!
Zoila Romero
It is beautiful...but the seats are so narrow and there is no room for people coming in or out. But is a nice clean theater.
Levente Borvak
Friendly staff and amazing venue!
Erin Nakielski
We saw Dear Evan Hansen, the show was phenomenal, our orchestra pit seats were an amazing experience the only downside to our visit is the restroom line. We waited in the restroom line the whole intermission and barely made it back to our seats on time for the second half of the show.
Zach Marino
The orpheum is always an amazing experience. The staff are very helpful and the shows are incredible! Definitely worth the time and money!
Thomas Wilmar
This is a grand old theater in terrific shape. It is very enjoyable seeing shows here.
Joe Alderink
Absolutely loved it! It seemed pricey before actually going but getting to see all the intricacies of the stage and the amazing actors and actresses they employ it was worth every penny! It is cramped though so if you are claustrophobic be aware of that.
Alex Sneed Miller
Classic ornate theatre. Small seats are not very comfortable. House lighting when the show isn't going on is very dim so it's hard to read a program/handout before the show starts. Concession prices are very high. I wish there was more competition for large venues like this.
Douglas Erickson
Music is phenomenal! Every performance has been top notch - even Cats. Seating could be improved.
Christia D
Cats! Just Wow! Absolutely Beautiful! Tayler Harris as Grisselda (I think that was the cat that sang "Memory"), was amazing, tantalizing, scintillating, mesmerizing! I would go again if I could.
Dalton Ulmer
Beautiful theater and very helpful staff. Great music venue. Had a blast here!
Zach Williams
Sincerely thoughtful and accommodating staff. They really went out of their way to make my theater experience wonderful
David T
Saw a great Christmas/Acrobatic/Juggling show. Don't remember the name of the group. Kind of a Cirque De Sola type of show.
Patricia Smith
The show was spectacular, but the seats were so close together anyone over 4 feet tall and 90 pounds can't be comfortable.
Blake Dickey
We wife and I came here for our anniversary and saw Tony Bennet perform at the Orpheum. The building is gorgeous inside! We sat in the balcony of the theatre and thoroughly enjoyed Tony's performance. The room has great acoustics and my only complaint is that the seats are pretty tight.
Sydney Warner
The theater is absolutely beautiful! With Covid, the process to enter the building was quick and efficient. The staff are truly wonderful and the show was magnificent! I highly recommend this theater.
Julie Teran
Gorgeous theater, efficient and friendly staff, and SUCH A FUN show!
Kozetta Chapman
Awesome concert...terrible ushers who didn't really manage the crowd. This was our first time seeing Frankie Beverly and Maze in concert and we were looking forward to a good time. Instead, we were met by staff who wouldn't offer assistance to disabled or elderly patrons which resulted in many concert attendees missing the performances. It was quite an ordeal trying to locate our seats once we made it in the door. We sat down and tried to make the most of our experience. But, the ushers returned to inform us that we were in someone else's seat. Lo and behold, we were actually in our correct seats...the late comers actually had seats across the room. Go figure. Anyway, we sat back down and enjoyed the final 28 minutes of the concert...
Erik Amundson
Nice venue, wonderful staff and performances. I highly recommend. Only note is that it needs more restrooms.
Melinda Ferris
The theater was beautiful, the staff friendly and knowledgeable, and the show (Les Misérables) phenomenal!
Shannon Thole
This is a stunningly beautiful theater. I thought the seating process was a bit chaotic. Perhaps if they started seating earlier it wouldn't be a dense congested mob of people in the entries and lobby. Also in the balcony, there is a row of seats that seem to sit higher in proportion to the other seats maybe row P, but the heads of the people in that row really obstruct the views of those behind that row. Other than those few observations it was a lovely theater experience.
Renee Haupt
We saw Wicked, and this old theatre has so much history and is beautiful!
Could use more bathrooms.
Vikram Kulkarni
They host some very popular shows. Great theater. Seats are quite cramped. The place has only one restroom per floor, and leads to long lines. Concessions as usual are overpriced.
Vangie Dew
Love handicapped seating in balcony will never sit on main floor again . I'm disappointed in the bathroom situation if you not on that floor and have to use the elevator.
Breann Silfverston
The Orpheum is a wonderful experience every time. The historic architecture is so well preserved and meshes with the updated technology that you are in wonder of every wall, artwork, carvings and ornate details of the building! With a bar available and decent drink prices your night at the theater is not ruined by emptying the bank account on one beverage. The staff is friendly and helps to ensure you have a wonderful, classy time. I've seen numerous plays at the Orpheum and the building, the staff, and the shows they select to play there NEVER disappoints. (Picture from Dec 2018, Les Miserables)
Brooke Lanners
Such a beautiful theater and it didn't hurt that I loved the show that I went to see. This is one of those theaters that doesn't seem like there is a bad seat in the house! I am a bigger girl and the seats feel very close together but I still fit in a seat so at least that was nice.
Slsclimbhgts Minneapolis
Broadway shows are presented at this beautifully renovated theater. Always enjoy every show I've attended.
Tammy Thurber
Absolutely 💯 loved "Come From Away"!! Blast was had by our whole group; laughter, tears, sadness, happiness. …
Pattie Iverson
What an awesome performance, it felt so good to see something without all of the mandates of Covid!!
Margaret Roslik
Went to see the National Geographic Symphony for our World performance. The show was excellent but the theatre left a little to be desired. The theatre is beautiful and overall is a very striking venue. However, we were seated in the balcony and the amount of space available left something to be desired. Granted, I am 6'1" so I'm working with a lot of leg but it is uncomfortable to be required to sit sideways given the less desireable alternative of planting your knees into the back of the head of the person seated in front of you. Additionally, the screen was partially cut off which was disappointing. The staff was wonderful and very helpful but the bar prices are a bit steep...$6 for a bottle of water was a bit much. That being said, we did have a great time and will be back for other performances that might catch our eye.
Jeffrey Morrison
What a beautiful building. The seating is super cramped though. Very narrow, and very little leg room.
Tina S
Saw Les Mis. The theater is a beautiful backdrop for this great performance. Easy parking. Building recently restored. The chandelier in the theater was incredible. Street performers kept us entertained while waiting to get in. The crowd was excited to see the show. The atmosphere is sophisticated but laid back. Thanks for a great night.
Michelle
This season we have seen Cats and Wicked. Great shows. Love the orpheum.
mary helgeson
Beautiful theatre but there are just not enough bathrooms to accommodate the number of people. Hopefully it’s in the budget to revamp this.
Kelly Nelson
We saw Rock of Ages here over the weekend and enjoyed it, but it was really hard to hear the spoken dialogue from the top section. The wait for the womens bathroom was very very long, but the bathroom attendant was helpful and hilarious ("rush and flush ladies!"). It's a classic old theatre and the seats feel cramped, but that's to be expected. They're also very strict about photography of the stage. All in all we had fun.
Brandon Wojcik
I been to a couple plays now, Beauty and the beast and Book of Mormon. I promise you this is an amazing venue. But you get what you pay for, for seats. Lower level has way better leg room then up top and my thighs start to cramp after the intermission, but being up top doesn't kill my pocket book. Other then that the whole ambiance is just beautiful to look at while you wait for the show to begin. I will be definitely coming back for more in the future.
Why Not
A wonderful old building great place to see a play or musical just keep in mind the bathroom situation there's only like 2 and during intermission for wicked the women's line for the bathroom was by far the longest I've ever seen in my life I bet you there had to be 200 people in line to use the women's bathroom which there is two of.
Jason Reeves
Enjoyed watching Les Mis!
WI Frmr
Wow... great venue. Went to Les Miserables. It was really something to experience.
Kaylee Renstrom
I have seen many shows here and I absolutely love this theater!
Erin Hanlon
Saw Moulin Rouge. They was insane. We were blown away. Food and drinks were allowed in the theater during the show. People were getting up during the performance which was distracting. Also bathroom line was extremely long. We still had a good time.
polly skipton
Wicked was amazing. The theater is gorgeous. The stairs are a bit difficult due to the fact it was built over 100 years ago.
Shane Anderson
We saw Le miserable, it was absolutely wounderfull. Beutiful theater friendly staff very helpfull.
Sara Clementson
Saw Wicked here. Even though we had limited view seats it was still an amazing experience. Can't wait to visit again
Alex Grahmann
Beautiful, classic auditorium. A little hard to find the bathrooms, and there are far fewer upstairs than needed, which makes for long lines at intermission. Still, it's a beautiful theater and our family loves visiting for phenomenal concerts (Zelda Symphony) and Broadway shows (Wicked, Book of Mormon).
Patrick Hill
We've seen numerous performances here, my favorite being Waitress, mainly because Sara Bareilles knows how to write a catchy song. The venue itself is exceptional and being downtown allows for fantastic dining options before or after the show. Frankly, all the Hennepin Theatre Trust venues are outstanding... take your pick
Karla B
Super impressed with the balcony seats we had. It was a great (though somewhat distant) view.
Brian Fairchild (MorkaiTheWolf)
Went there for the Distant Worlds performance and I hope there is another show here to make come back and see it. Reminds me a lot of the local theater back in Detroit (in a good way). Staff was very ready for the large crowd and handled moving everyone through really well.
Only oddity was that the men's bathroom is down a back corridor and downstairs from the main level but the signage is very clear on how to find it.
Adam Buchanan
The theater is beautiful, and the productions there are amazing. Just went to see Mean Girls, and it was fantastic. Only downside is how crowded it feels. The seats are small and very close together. Also, the tickets are incredibly expensive for the size of the theater. I saw twice as many shows in London for half the price. Unfortunately, they're the only game in town for Broadway traveling shows, so you just have to pony up. My recommendation to the Orpheum management is to update the seating arrangements with some of that extra dough you're hauling in.
Boyice Williams
Great place! Saw the Nutcracker. Not a bad seat in the building.
Judy Heitz
Love getting back to the theater and the Orpheum is a great place to start. All seats are good and the employees are amazing.
Charles Sanderson
Beautiful building and great production but with very cramped seating. Facilities very crowded at the intermission, but there's a decent bar just next door...
Laura Kalkwarf
First time here - the space is amazingly beautiful! Come From Away was fantastic and took my breath away. Staff and security were welcoming, friendly, expressed gratitude that we were attending the theater again. Check-in was straight-forward, efficient, quick. Wonderful experience!
Michael Maki
Staff was great, got us in and out in a hurry, always made sure we knew where we were going.
Sammy Nyquist
I have visited the theatre many times and I have always had a lovely experience. Most recently I did student rush and it was so easy and the staff were so kind and fun to chat to. Minneapolis is fortunate to have such a great theatre.
Terry J
We are so fortunate to have such great theater and amazing venues and none is better than this one.
Jisoo Kim
We love Orpheum theater. Many memories & mant great shows. A++ a must visit spot in MN.
Jerome Dinh IFBB Pro
Beautiful auditorium for The Phantom of the Opera though we were in the nose bleed area, we still had a great view for the show...though when they say "limited leg room" they were not kidding and Im only 5'8"!
Brent Johnson
The Orpheum is.a wonderful venue to visit. We've enjoyed multiple shows here and they never disappoint.
Lauri Gustoff
I still love this theater, all seats are good. Professional respects for all, great place.
Barbara Jacquemin
Was in Minneapolis to see Hamilton. This theatre is amazing with the old world architecture look. The stage was spectacular! Balcony seats were great. Many stairs but easy to navigate around.
Diana Eide
Theater is nice but the chairs are super small and close together....they aren’t comfortable at all. Bathroom lines were extremely long during intermission.
Auntie Kei Kei
Orpheum is always wonderful. Staff is very helpful in getting you to your seats. As a bigger lady the seats are comfortable enough.
Every seat is a decent seat.
I enjoy stepping back into time when I am there.
Brian Dall
Saw "Mean Girls" from the Broadway season. Very well done.
Now went to Moulin Rouge recently - that was a fun show with updated snippets from songs that had the whole audience rocking. It was great!
Went to another show (Wicked) where we sat on the main floor rather than the balcony. It does change the experience. We recommend you try both to see which you like best.
Rob Brown
The Twin Cites is blessed to have such wonderful theaters as The Orpheum Theatre, The State Theatre among others. The acoustics are wonderful and great sight lines from anywhere in the audience to anywhere on the stage. That said, this theater could use a little investment given cracking plaster and other noticeable areas of aging. A great experience for theater enthusiasts, but a bit sad at the same time.
Vicki Tucker
The play Ain't to Proud to Beg was performed with talent and perfection. I hope the cast will come back for more upcoming performances. It's well needed. Keep your blessings.
Michael Hanson
We were here to see Conan & Friends and this Theater is amazing. The staff were wonderful and helpfull from start to finish. Great show was added to by great venue and we will definitely be back for another show.
Sarah Pantoja
Perfect day! Love the performance 🎭. Loved everything about it …
Laurie - Live by Design, Inc
If you are injured, take note! The show was amazing, the experience in the lobby fun...the seating, not so much. Unfortunately, a week before our tickets, I broke my ankle making crutches in a crowd nearly impossible. Thankfully, someone in my party arranged for a wheelchair to get us to our FRONT ROW seats. The seats were GREAT if you aren't injured. Had I needed to use the restroom it would have been very difficult to get to the facilities--alone OR with help. I don't recommend close seating with a manual wheelchair--or, being lame from the waist down. The leg room was VERY limited for me and my splint, making it terribly uncomfortable. TBH, I think I would prefer 2nd row for leg room, as you can put your feet under the seats in front. Row 1 has a railing to separate you from the orchestra pit and did not allow for any stretching of the legs! Given the same situation, don't even THINK about getting out ahead of the crowd. If you are handicapped and in front, just plan to sit and wait for the crowd to disperse. The usher that came to help was GREATLY appreciated!
ItsTheRio 1222
Great old theater, but because of age isn't the most comfortable (leg space and seats a little hard). But the shows are awesome!
Sheryl D
This is a beautiful theatre. It was easy to get to and we found parking easy enough. They are very COVID-19 conscious so bring your vaccine card. They served drinks and snacks before the show. Staff was friendly and helpful. Acoustics were spot on and I really don't think there's a bad seat in the house. Great place for a Broadway show!
Sabrinax10
Saw the production of The Phantom of the Opera and it was amazing. The theater is great. Nice seats, large bathrooms. Overall very nice experience
Chelsey Olafson
Don't book the top row if you are fat or afraid of heights. I was so uncomfortable and anxious the entire show. :(
Amanda Tinebra
I am a season ticket holder, and the shows they do here are absolutely incredible! The customer service does leave a bit to be desired. The post-covid cancelations process has been frustrating. This last week, our show was canceled after 5:30 on show day. We were already in Minneapolis having dinner, and did not see the email, which was the only notification they sent. Close to 6:30, another patron of the restaurant said something about it being canceled, and I checked my email. That's the only way we found out.
The original email said the show would be rescheduled. The following day, I received am email that said I needed to exchange or refund my tickets as no reschedule would happen. Of course, our season seats were not available. So we had to get different seats. All seats at the same price point were considerably worse, so I ended up moving up a few rows. The seat selctor said any seats would be the same price. They then still charged $45 for a change I didn't ever intend to make.
So overall: theater is great. Shows and employees on show nights are great. Customer service in regards to tickets is quite difficult.
Lady K M (Top Notch Class Act MC)
I went for the 90s Kickback concert. It was a beautiful evening filled with beautiful music and beautiful people. However, they didn't build for comfort. The seating isn't comfortable at all especially if you're husky, bigger in weight or tall. That was the worst part for me because you're literally knee to knee with your neighbor so the leg room/space was my downfall being a tall woman. Luckily, I had some beautiful ladies next to me who were jamming with me. I am a social butterfly so I make friends where ever I go, but I guess they built it to get the occupancy factor and not comfort. Outside of that it was a good night and parking directly across the street was only $10.00 event parking which isn't bad at all. Elegant theater i must say
Erica Brown
Dope venue great shows I just wish they would update the seats
Kelsey Wetterlind
Beautiful, just wish the seats weren't so jammed together. Also, not ideal for short people to see over heads in front of them.
Christina Meyers
What a beautiful theater 💖 This was my first experience seeing a broadway play, outside of NYC and wow, I was impressed. Luckily there are two bathrooms in the theater, but in 15mins many women were not able to get back after using the bathroom during intermission. Apparently this is a common issue here.
A suggestion to the theater - there is a woman directing bathroom traffic in the second floor ladies room, who I would like to ask to reassess her way of working. There are 8 stalls, two directly next to the winding line of ladies and six more a few feet further down. Why would you have a continuous amount of ladies lining up for the last six stalls and when the first two open up, whoever is standing in front of them gets to use them? Very confusing, ineffective and inefficient...aka Waste of time and a bit frustrating. I personally believe I only made it to my seat after intermission, because I refused to move to the further line. I was literally in and out, of the stall (stall 1) before 5 of the further 6 stalls had turned over. Needless to say those other ladies who were there before me were extremely upset when I left the ladies room before them.
Regardless of the odd bathroom line, the other staff were great and super friendly and the theater and seats were a decent size. It's always tight in auditorium seats but I felt like these had a couple more inches of space.
Robbin Warner
Never had a bad seat here....good acoustics.
Joe Bonamassa...excellent!
Rebecca Schriner
The Orpheum is a gorgeous, medium-sized theater. We got tickets for the traveling Broadway Anastasia show through the University, but we also saw decently priced tickets through Ticketmaster. There didn’t appear to be a bad seat in the house! We were on the main floor and sound carried well and wasn’t overwhelming. There were a few dramatic flashing lights for the show that caught my eyes, but the staff were kind and helpful and the theatre was clean with comfortable, large seats.
The Orpheum had strict COVID guidelines and restrictions, requiring vaccination cards or a recent negative test and IDs with tickets before entry. Visitors also went through metal detectors upon entry.
Andrew Toner
Les Miserables was outstanding. Orpheum is a great place to see a play
Emily
Beautiful venue and great view and experience from main floor. Only complaint is the lack of women's restroom capacity as I had to miss the first act after intermission.
Caleb Nelson-Lange
Have never had a bad experience here. Bathroom lines get ridiculous during intermission but they account for the longer lines.
Derek Peterson
Beautiful theatre. Seating is a bit tight if you're tall like me, but the acoustics and overall experience certainly make up for it
D D
Beautiful ambience, but hell the seats are for just skinny short people.
Ruth obermaier
Great show, lines were long for concessions and bathrooms
Aeria Castro
Great experience. The kids LOVED it so much.
The prices were SO expensive for the merchandise and they don't sell food. Only select candy at the BAR. 20$ for a beanie baby sized teddy bear? Seriously? Smh
Crystal S
This is a beautiful venue. It's a little dated, but that's part of the charm. I love seeing shows here because the acoustics are really clear and there really isn't a bad seat.
Alyssa Johnson
Theater was beautiful, sounds quality good, ample view of the stage(however, I was mainfloor center aisle). That being said, the bathroom situation at intermission was horrendous. They had staff directing traffic but the amount of people trying to purchase food/drinks/souvenirs paired with lines for the bathrooms that never ended it was not a great experience. Getting in was smooth, leaving was smooth.
Madison Arkadie
The theater is beautiful and the plays I've seen here have all be amazing. Only issue is the bathrooms are so far away and they take forever. The cost of items is expensive but to be expected and any theater. Will happily visit ahain for another play
Don Schiller
Beautiful theater. Many great plays or events are done there. Older folks would do better with the main level, easier to walk and see.
Jacob Kahnke
Very spacious. The seats are comfortable and are well spaced from one another. It is a beautiful, historic theater.
Aleisha
Family took us to see the Temptations show while in town visiting and the show was wonderful! Great music, great dancing. Full standing ovation.
Ashley Anderson
I took my son to Hamilton and it was incredible. I can’t believe how gorgeous the theater is. Obviously the show was the most astounding part. I can’t wait to go back to see Hamilton again!
Erin Matteson
Shows are great, Womens bathrooms are horrible. There was still a line when intermission was ending and they didn't hold the show the extra 5 minutes to get everyone through the line. When you are paying this much for a ticket you shouldn't have to miss part of the show b/c they don't have enough facilities to get people in and out of the bathroom.
Update: Still the worst bathroom situation. Remove one of the giant bars that take up half the lobby and put in a bathroom.
Bekah Chapman
Iconic building with beautiful detail and rich with history! Friendly staff with drinks and snacks available. Would recommend purchasing a parking pass at Lasalle plaza garage with you visit if possible!
Mary B
A wonderful theatre with fantastic performances!
Gretchen
Always a great experience! Highly recommend seeing a show here!
Wade Welper
HADESTOWN cast was amazing along with the sound and lighting. Easy parking and well organized but, I will probably not return again due to the seating which is incredibly uncomfortable and I am only 6ft 1in. It’s like a children’s theatre for the size of the seats.
Joy Kundert
Loved the theater! Kept the classic old style of the structure yet modernized to be functional!
Michelle Hammers
Went to see Wicked! What an amazing show. Somehow they need to get more women's bathrooms in this place!
Pam Dygert
Loved the show. I can't believe the idea I get, how smaller seating gets. It was a very tight theater. Thankful the show kept me occupied. Your staff was amazing and very aware of everything! Well done. Thank you.
lee richman
I saw mean girls here yesterday and it was fantastic. Our seats were on the highest balcony and 2nd to last row but we still had a clear view with no obstructions.
Lisa Gotelaere
Beautiful theater...old and original which leads to a women's bathroom issue. Unbelievable lines at intermission. Plan your liquid consumption wisely!
Emily H
Attended Bert Kreisher event. He was great. Special appearance by Louis C.K. Security was smooth and quick. Ushers were pleasant and helpful with directing guests to their seats. Quick and easy exiting venue. Only downfall was spacing between rows (balcony) of seats were narrow (limited space for taller patrons) but to be expected with a venue from early 1900's.
Phillip Peterman
Not enough bathrooms and the seats are very narrow. The play was excellent...
Wendy Solnitzky
Beautiful theater. Always a great experience.
Brynn
Beautiful theater, incredible productions, and overall an incredible experience
Jim F
Foyer is a stagnant mass of human bodies during intermission. Plan ahead and don't try to use the restroom between acts!
Linda Marie Thayer
Tremendous show - Moulin Rouge delivered in spectacular fashion!! The Orpheum was well organized, temperature comfortable. Staff in women's bathroom really help to keep the long line moving as fast as possible.
Matthew Alspach
The theater is a nice space with beautiful ornamentation and decoration.
The seating in the theater is narrow for anyone with shoulders, so you need to hunch over or sit sideways to fit next to your seat mates. There isn't a lot of leg room, either.
They no longer require masks to be worn to attend performances, stating that the lower levels of community COVID (not really) coupled with their "improved" ventilation system allow them make this decision.
I highly doubt the ventilation has been improved, since the show I attended used a lot of smoke/fog in the production, which was not quickly dispersed by the ventilation, so I imagine that any aerosolized viruses, including SARS-COVID19, would remain in the air just as the smoke and fog did.
Less than 10% of the audience members had any sort of face covering on and there was plenty of coughing in the audience (by unmasked individuals).
Let this be a warning to those not wishing to be infected with COVID to refrain from attending performances at the Orpheum Theater!
David Hallenberger
With the construction it can be challenging to get here plan ahead for driving and parking and you'll be ok the theater itself is great small enough so you dont have a major crowd to deal with and it is easy enough to find and get to your seats and even though we were In row v it still seems close
Kris Tomsen
Lovely place....had a great time and ushers were helpful
J Bayerl
This is always an amazing place to go. The old architecture is amazing. The shows are also amazing. The staff was also very helpful.
Tim Clark (Sparky)
I saw Spamalot, Les Misérables, Love Never Dies, The Phantom of the Opera and Jesus Superstar!
Best theatre to hold such great musicals! 👍👍👍👍👍
Ethan Sommer
Went to see Wicked. It was a fabulous production, as expected of the traveling shows the orpheum books.
M Dickson
Love this theater and Broadway in MPLS. Parked in the Hawthorne Municipal Parking ramp and took the skyway over, super easy and way easier to exit than the ramp across the street. The staff was super friendly and helpful. Recommend!!
Brian Wene
6/13/2017
As usual the Orpheum dazzled myself and a near sell-out crowd for this night of Gaelic Woman(a brilliant night of song & dance).
Thank You!
Judy Fisher
Loved the performance of Wicked, seats need some upgrading...great to be back in a beautiful theater!!
Lauren Diane Doherty
Intimate venue with great sound and a special feel from the moment you walk in.
Nicole Smith
We experienced Rent. This is one of my favorites. There is something about seeing it live in a historic building that makes it that much better.
Michael Urness
It's a great venue, even our cheap seats had a good view. The only complaint is the seating is tight for these modern American thighs.
Ben Torborg
Awesome Place! Always amazed with the performances here. The staff and bar tenders are nice and helpful!
eric scott
Had a fantastic evening watching Martin Short and Steve Martin
PetersonNaturePhoto Peterson
We loved it!! Piano guys concert, great acoustics, Comfy chairs, beautiful venue!
Jon Kunz
Great venue with comfortable seats. Les Miz performance was excellent. Go to the stage door after the performance for a chance to meet actors.
Angel B
This is my first time going to this location the parking was not bad it was right across the street and for $10 that was pretty decent the only main complaint I have is just the seating it's very cramped and your leg to leg with whoever you're sitting next to there's just not enough space. Other than that I had a great time and I really enjoyed the Valentine Comedy Jam!!
Michael Engwall
We always have a great experience when we attend a show at the Orpheum.
Debbie Bergtholdt
The shows at the Orpheum are always awesome and Wicked did not disappoint. Wonderful!
Erica Kantola
Love the variety of shows they host. My most recent visit was for Madea's Farewell Tour.
Inga Halverson (Norwegian Dreamer)
If you have long legs or larger feet the seating will be very uncomfortable. The shows are very well done and the theatre is beautiful .
Rose Leos
The staff was very kind and attentive, many of them complimented everyone's outfits and costumes for the podcast liveshows we saw! Security was also very quick and efficient
Glenn Steinke
It was nice to get out and experience live theater again. I was happy to see the Orpheum staff enforcement of safety protocols but very disappointed that a major safety issue was not addressed. You would have thought that with all of the downtime that the extremely dangerous situation of the uneven steps on the walkway between the main floor and the balcony would have been repaired.
Shaun Sheppard
Got suited and booted for an great Valentines Day 💝 Comedy Show‼️💯💯💪🏾 …
Amanda Gilbert
Overall the Orpheum is a great place that brings in terrific shows. I wish the seats were more comfortable especially if you are over 5'5" as there isn't enough legroom between rows which makes for a somewhat uncomfortable 2+ hours.
Brad Brockman
It was awesome to be back in the theater seats watching a spectacular live performance. The staff was super friendly and attentive. Do have your Covid-19 vaccination with you to gain entrance to the theater.
I forgot how beautiful the orpheum theater is. Just look up and see the beautiful ceiling and chandelier.
I can't wait to be back in March 2022.
M Nelson
Great smaller venue for music. Long waits for drinks, and alcohol sales cut off very early.
Rosemary Adam
So beautiful, if you get the chance to go, take it!!
Kimberly Anderson
I love the Orpheum! It's beautiful, glamorous, and so special. We were treated well by all staff. Gently reminded to wear masks before entering the building, etc. Did not like having to be forced into a Covid19 vaccination or test.
Laurie Owen
My only discontent is the narrow lobby, but I would not forfeit any of the structure.
Jack Lawrence
Beautiful theatre, not a bad seat in the place for view, but it's pretty stuffy and the seats give you very little room.
Kirk Davis
Beautiful theatre. Leg room is tight but seats are comfortable. Decent sightlines from all rows.
Hilary Wagner
Beautiful historic theater in the heart of downtown Minneapolis. A great view from any seat!
Robert Papendieck
Utterly fantastic performance of Wicked!!
Matt Olfson
The theater is a very nice and classy, and the staff showed the utmost professionalism. Concessions were a bit pricy, but that's typical anywhere you go. And there is plenty of parking available nearby in the various facilities, though I do wish the theater was connected via the skywalkeay system.
Ross Lager
I have seen 3 or 4 shows at the Orpheum Theater and have loved every single one. I have to drive 1.5 hours each time but it is so worth it. Plenty of parking near by and pictures don't do it justice.
Red Valentine
Went to the Orpheum to see Shen Yun with my daughter. The show was amazing and I was very impressed with how they enforced COVID testing and or vaccination. The place was clean. Everyone was wearing a mask. Staff was very helpful. Altogether a great experience.
I think I'm taking in love with theater and this place.
TallPockets
Great Atmosphere for an intimate concert. Very classy
Casandra McCrae
We saw Moulin Rouge here! The show was AMAZING!!!
Candace Swanson
Such a beautiful place to enjoy yourself and have a good time, great atmosphere!
Mike Boutelle
A cozy venue that brings in top talent. You can count on a quality performance!
Andrew Hoogerwerf
Beautiful theater but the lobby and concessions could use some work. Typically houses the tip traveling shows.
Tim Noonan (TimDawg)
First time visitor to this splendid venue. The theater is such a beautiful building and there's not a bad seat in the house!
Bradley Sargent
Great show today.. Seen Moulin Rouge 😃 staff was nice, place was clean and didn't have any issues with other patrons.. Overall a great time …
Christopher Johnson
Hamilton great staff and incredible show. Pleased with all. Head to the bathroom before the show, just like any venue the lines get long at intermission.
Nick Franzen
Love this theatre. Seats are nice and wide.
Amy Weishaar
Saw Wicked for the 4th time. BEST cast ever!!!! They were on 🔥! …
Joe Simonson
Beautiful theater, the sound was awesome and Wicked was amazing! 👏👏 …
Griffin Myslivecek
Aladin was wonderful. Increased security makes it take longer to get into the theater however it made us feel safe.
Jeff Sachs
The orpheum theater was awesome it is a must see for anybody visiting Minnesota or for anybody that lives here I highly recommend it. Love the atmosphere and the architectural beauty of this building.
Hether Wright
Have gone here to see shows a few times over the years. They're always kind and professional.
Rev Martin Shanahan
Pretty Woman cast was amazing. The space is absolutely awesome. We appreciated everyone masking so appropriately. What an absolutely wonderful evening. Thank you to everyone.
Alex Reis
The Orpheum is very beautiful. The productions are amazing. They are very entertaining and engaging with storytelling, singing, dancing, and even special effects with sound and lighting.
Gregory Cozine
Great theater. Beautiful renovation. Excellent for musicals
Derek Hughes
Such a fun historic building! Staff were great - very accommodating! It is rare to find professional staff and an affordable experience in one!
Deb Schmidt
When a conflict arose with our ticketed show for Jersey Boys, both Culhane and Shane were extremely helpful in resolving the issue. Couldn’t have been happier. Very friendly and great representatives of the organization.
Dave Wonders
Always top notch performances and a really friendly staff. Great date night!
Haley
A beautiful theater, I've gone many times before. Even in the balcony seats I was able to see everything!
Erin Y
I love this theater! It has a super old-school feel and it small compared to other performance venues in larger cities, so the shows feel more intimate. The acoustics are also great and seating is comfortable. Staff is always friendly and accommodating as well.
Timothy Lawrence
Great concert, polite staff and security, and great acoustics. There is not a bad seat in the house. I look forward to my next show there.
Grace Glover
Gorgeous theater in downtown Minneapolis. Great viewing from almost every seat but be ready for long bathroom lines.
Glynn Francis
Nice theater. More leg room would be a bonus!
Jessica Holden
The Phantom of the Opera was AMAZING. The cast was outstanding, the sets were incredible, the music was on point, and the pyrotechnics were just great. Just an awesome performance across the board. They also had staff organizing traffic in the bathroom during intermission, which was SO helpful. So highly recommended!! The only complaint I have is that the seats were small and not super comfortable, but... oh well?
Nancy Jo Austin
We brought our granddaughter on her 9th birthday to see Frozen. She loved the chandelier, gold leaf, molded/carved plaster, etc even before the show began. When it was over she wanted to see it again right away!
Lisa Okpara
Beautiful Theater with great staff. Wicked production amazing
G 4key
Really nice venue, but they are cheap on using the AC.
Jessica usselman
Employees are very nice. This place is beautiful. Great concert venue.
Rebecca Sakry
Musical play was great, but seats were not very comfortable
Christian Poynter
I've now been to a couple of shows here, and it's a great venue. Beautiful old architecture and decor. I've had a great view from my seat both times, and I think as long as you're not all the way in the back, you'd be able to see well.
I found it interesting that the restroom I used I had to use the stairs to get to, and then the sign said it was handicap accessible :) Definitely not for that one. Others in the building are, though.
Tony Colbert
Great venue and amazing show
Matt Springer
Tiny seats, as someone who wears size L t shirts. Other than that, it's a nice, historic building. Have been numerous times.
jessica hess
Beautiful location/theatre.
Peter Goldberg
Had a great time at the show that I attended here. The facility is nice and most things ran smoothly--I was impressed at the speed of the ticket line. This place suffers from the common issue of too few bathrooms at intermission, the lines were over 50 people long for the women's and over 30 for the men's restrooms during the entire break, with many people including myself simply giving up.
Jason M Sweeney
Historic venue with lots of charm and high class shows. A must for the lover of theater.
Jess Kelley
Best rendition of Les Miserables I've seen !
Tom Casey
So here is how I get to the stars.
The theater is Beautiful 5 Stars,
Frozen was spectacular 5 Stars
Staff for the most part was good 3 Stars... I would give them a 5 Star, they were friendly and helpful except that during the show they have these covid security people that police if your mask is all the way on and it gets very distracting. I saw them picking on multiple people and on a 5 year old kid by pushing their way down isles. I had my mask down under my nose. a bit, it was warm, and I am over 60 and needed a little fresh air. We had moved seats from row M center stage to about row U over on an outside edge, so that we could be more by ourselves, and less crowded. There was no one with in 20 feet of me, besides my wife, I had shown my vaccine card to get in, and the covid police still came over and said get that over your nose,
Let it Go!
Danielle Koski
Beautiful theater and surprisingly spacious and comfy seats for a historical theater.
Travis
Loved it! Theater is fantastic and Wicked was amazing!
Barb Higgins
This performance of Moulin Rouge was by far the best production I have seen at the Orpheum theater in the last 35 years. Loved it!
David Craig
They should create more seating. They could dig out the basement, drop the stage to the new level, and put in a new balcony level and seats with more leg room.
Sarah Thoreson
The theater is beautiful. The chairs are quite comfortable. The staff members are always helpful and courteous. Lines for entry and refreshments go rather quickly. My one major complaint is there are not enough bathrooms for a venue of this size. Getting in the restrooms before a show or during intermission can be nearly impossible if the house is full for an event.
Christy Jaeger
Overall my Orpheum experience was enjoyable. We saw My Fair Lady, a time worn musical that still grabs at your heart strings just a little. The interesting part was viewing it with modern day awareness. Professor Higgins was such a jerk! It was nearly a 3 hour performance and for the first time I became uncomfortable in my seat. We were seated MF row AA. That was farther back than I have previously sat, and my knees were not so happy with the tight quarters. Not sure if there is any difference in row spacing closer to the stage. It is possible I’ve gotten older and my knees more fussy. Maybe it was the length of the play. But I would highly recommend an aisle seat if you go with a tall person or anyone with knee issues. There is no room to stretch. With awareness, the theatre can still be a lovely night out.
Karen Barta
Such an incredibly beautiful building! Not a bad seat in the house!
Danyl Sowl
Beautiful, we saw Shen Yun, my star rating is out of the Orpheum's control and due to the uncomfortable seats and no elbow room. But please don't let that prevent you from experiencing the magic of the Orpheum Theatre! I also won't let that prevent me from enjoying another performance there.
Rob Bechtel
I have seen many musicals here now. Book of Mormon, Wicked, Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder, Lion King, and Mama Mia. I can now add Hamilton to this list.
The theater's decor is stunning. I saw wicked with "obstructed view" seats. Other than about 3 minutes of the show the view was great. I personally prefer the front rows of the balcony. However, just about every seat is good. The back seats are a little far, but that is expected for the back seats.
Production quality is breath taking. Actors and actresses are extremely talented. Seat designs are gorgeous and the stage is always beautifully utilized.
Every show has a special cocktail or two themed to match the show. The ones that I have tried were delicious.
Definitely my favorite theater in the twin cities.
Brian Bourbeau
I really enjoy coming here for an event; the entire staff are always very pleasant. The artitecture and style of the theater is inviting and interesting. It seems that no matter where you sit in the theater, you have a good view of the stage and good sound throughout. It has always been a very good experience. Makes for a wonderful night out.
Burton Collins
THANK YOU Orpheum theater AIN'T TO PROUD TO BEG..AMEN is A MUCH NEEDED MUSICAL FOR TEESE TIMES I HAD ALOT OF FUN...THANK ya'll singers and outstanding acting..WOW
Logan Arendt
The theater looks great. In a nice convenient location. Just wish the chair spacing was a bit better for tall people.
Joshua Minnehan
An amazing place for a show. sound quality is great I don't think there is a bad seat in the house.
Julie Ballman
I love the Orpheum - the classy architecture is beautiful and the Moulin Rouge play was awesome. Total enjoyed the experience!
ilida perez
Beautiful place we enjoyed Jesus Christ Super Star very much. It did seem to go very fast, they could have slow down a bit. There was also no break at all. Some of the voices were not strong enough (good) the the music. But still enjoyed the show and parking was just across the street.
Justin Van Kirk
Enjoyed "The band's visit" for my first time being to the orpheum theatre and I was not disappointed. Opted for seats on the lower half towards the back l, the view was still great and able to enjoy the entire play. There were points where it was difficult to hear some lines but that wasn't a damper on the overall experience. Nice atmosphere.
Michael Gallagher
A beautiful theater very nicely restored and well managed. Bathrooms are limited so get there early enough to take care of business. As expected floor seats are better than mezzanine, but it's hard to find a bad seat in this place. They did add metal detectors at the entrances so be ready for that coming in. The mezzanine seats are a little bit small and leg room is limited.
Bob Gordon
This place is very nice. We came to see Aladdin and were not disappointed. When we approached the theater we were greeting at the corner by someone asking if we already had our tickets. As we did, we were directed to the side door so we could avoid standing in the long line with people buying tickets.
It is a good sized auditorium with a great view from the balcony. It is obvious there is some history to this place as the decor looked authentic. The sound was pretty good. There were not too many times I struggled to hear what the performers were saying.
The only reason I gave it four stars is that I am 6' 3" and the amount of space between rows was terrible. I had to sit at some awkward angles to get my legs to fit. My feet even had to be a strange angles to fit. It was uncomfortable, but luckily the show was good enough that I didn't really notice it too often.
G. Cosper
An intimate experience in a classic tread-the-boards setting. As usual in this style, the center seats have the best sound and sight lines. But even watching from far stage left 10 rows in was still an excellent way to enjoy Broadway talent! Easily accessible handicapped restroom a bonus.
A Messner
We saw the Book of Mormon the other weekend and had a great time. The staff working are truly a pleasure. Even though it seems a little sketchy walking from the parking area to the theater (tons of parking options all over btw), once inside they have metal detectors and bag searches, so you feel pretty safe. The theater itself is beautiful, very charming. And the view is perfect from pretty much wherever you sit, whether balcony or main. We were in row L, center, and even tho a tall person sat in front of me, I could see fine. The only complaint, if you can call it that, that I had was that you hope you sit next to someone relatively small, because those seats are tiny with no elbow room. You can tell it's a historic place. But all in all, we had a great time, and it was a fun experience. We'll be going back again.
Christian Rieck
We had a great time at the show. The staff was happy and friendly even though they were very busy.
Dale Perszyk
I have been here many times. It's an excellent venue with a lot of character. The seats on the very sides close to the stage can be problematic. If you're going to an extravaganza with a lot of activity filling the stage sit in the first 10 or so rows of the balcony. We avoid the concessions because there are a lot of options close by for happy hour specials.
Erin
Fabulous shows, beautiful theatre!
Robert Ropars
Great theater that's ornate and rich in beauty and history. Only dings would be the old school also applies to the seats which are VERY narrow so a regular length show felt like worst kind of cramped middle seat flight experience. You'll be up close with seat neighbors so be warned. Also best seats happened to be pretty far back and the balcony seating is fairly far out and not super high so I would say people with even mild claustrophobia be careful and aim for seating farther up.
Kelsey Bethke
The building is beautiful! We saw the Phantom of the Opera and it was a wonderful performance. The lobby area is a bit tight when the theatre is full, and seats in the upper level are a little bit crammed, but my family and I enjoyed the theatre and show regardless !
Brian Huggins
Saw Book of Mormon there with my family. Always have loved this theatre. They kept the old classic look of a traditional theater. Which I am glad of. Staff were very friendly. I didn't order any drinks but my mother's coffee w/Bailey's she ordered, said was very good. Almost too much alcohol. When I got my merchandise at the half there was not too long of a line. Bought a book and a shirt and a pin. Don't know if I am throwing someone under the bus but the guy gave me the set of pins.. so thank you. Definitely go back.
Vicky Smith
I was given the gift of going to "The Phantom of the Opera" for my Christmas present this year. It was totally amazing! A once in a lifetime experience. I loved it! I had a wonderful seat and the sound of music and clarity of the performers was excellent.
I only wish that the gift shop would have been opened at the end of the performance also. It was so busy at the beginning as we came in that I couldn't get anything. The same during the intermission plus waiting in line for the bathroom. I would have brought a CD and a T-shirt. However, I absolutely loved the performance and would love to come back someday.
Angela Mertz
Beautiful old theatre with great views. I had seats on the main level, very last row in back and still had a clear view of the stage. This landmark theatre is well cared for and lovingly maintained with spectacular details and gorgeous ceilings! The staff were all very friendly, professional, and helpful. Great venue!
Ryan Bowman
Show was fantastic but for the love of all that is holy they need some new seating in that place. I'm 6'6'' and after sitting in a balcony seat through all 2 hours and 45 minutes of Rent... Well, let's just say I haven't been able to find my left kneecap in 72 hours.
Kevin Farrell
Beautiful theater in downtown Minneapolis. Seating good. Always plenty of good concerts and touring shows and musicals!
K C
Love the musicals. Skyway to the parking ramp is great! Note that the seats are tight squeeze. Long long lines during intermissions.
Tara Young
Frequent visitor here, and always have a great experience. Beautiful facilities, great hospitality, and wonderful shows. Location in downtown MSP is convenient to restaurants, parking and hotels.
Joanne Segner
Can't say anything ever bad..experience was great!
Sara Badertscher
Gorgeous theater! Wonderful performance! The seats were spaced a bit too close to each other. As a 5'8" person, my hips were completely pushed against the back of my chair and my knees were solid against the back of the chair in front of me. I feel sorry for anyone with longer femur than me.
Don Rose
Great place to see a show. Ron white was fantastic. Habe also seen Jersey boys there as well.
Tami Groth
Always a great experience seeing a show here. They handled the extra work of Covid protocols extremely well. I will return even though it’s a significant drive from home.
Keri K
Beautiful interior. Stadium seating. No bad seat in the house. Excellent sound. Fantastic performances. Great stage. They offer deaf interpreters for shows. Concessions are expensive, but similar to other nice theaters. Street or lot parking nearby.
Mitch Luecke
Mannheim Steamroller was absolutely awesome! The stage however could have use some actual Christmas decorations, like poinsettias or maybe a Christmas tree.
Jim Kelly
Great facility and friendly staff but how ridiculous is it to pack hundreds of people into a hallway on top of each other for 45minutes with masks on. Poor organization for the event we attended. Absolutely stupid
G Seckora
Great performances, easy parking, nice architectural aesthetics.
My wife and I have come to several Broadway performances here and have not been disappointed yet. We do recommend looking to see if your view will be obstructed before buying tickets.
Several public parking areas are close by and it is pretty easy to get to I-394 from the location. Several restaurants are also available across the street as well if you want to make a full date of it.
Xena Warrior Princess
Beautiful theatre. Staff was friendly & helpful. Not really a bad seat in the house as far as view goes. The only disappointment was the leg room. I'm 5.1 & it was pretty tight. I would go for the end seats or a front row somewhere.
Caroline Anderson
Saw Wicked and it was perfect. Beautiful theater.
Steve Stowers
It is such a great theater in a great theater town. We got a season pass for the first time, and I imagine we will continue to do the same going forward. The shows have all been world-class, and even though we have seats at the very top of the theater, we have not had a bad view yet.
Anita Strueber
Beautiful theater just a happy place to be
Barbara Anderson
I refuse to pay Ticket Master fees, so I went downtown to the State theater box office. Very nice people there. HOWEVER walking from my car to the State theater at mid day was scarry.. Hassled by individual and groups of loitering black people. NO Police presence on 8th street or Hennepin Avenue
Eric Woodruff
Show was great. Seats have NO leg room - and I am 5'6" tall.
Nita Newman
Show was amazing. The theater was clean and the staff were extremely helpful and kind.
Jess Heuer
Beautiful theater, uncomfortable seats.
wendy finn
Beautiful old theater. It feels like stepping back in time. Most of the seats have a pretty good view of the stage. The slope of the theater is not great so if you have someone taller than you in front it will block your view.
Barbe Marshall
The main floor has too shallow on a rake and the seats are too small, but if you get into the balconies you'll have a great experience. The restored space is stunning and they always bring in top notch work. Park in the Target ramp or take light rail in.
Beth Meyers
Staff did an efficient job of checking vaccine cards & still moving the crowd in quickly. I have always enjoyed the productions at the Orpheum!
Addy
Beautiful venue with great shows. Highly recommend!
James Kiefert II
We saw Wicked! What an amazing experience, we will definitely return.
charles scott
Love this theater. Have been to several plays and concerts there
linda slattengren
Play was great staff was wonderful all the safety implementation good except for being stuffed in there theater seats and lobby like sardines! No spacing hardly breathing room!
Nolan Brinkman
My wife and I have gone to many shows at the Orpheum. Most seats have excellent views. I recommend avoiding the far right edge and left edge seats. The Orpheum is a lot of fun, and the best place to see a show in the Twin Cities.
Ed Clark
I saw Hamilton here, of course it was amazing! We sat on the main floor level. This is a beautiful old theater with gorgeous woodwork and lighting. The staff are friendly and helpful. Beware: women who need to use the restroom at intermission may not make it in. The men's lines are also long, but move much faster.
S Kersten
Theater/stage nice, acoustics good. Prices reasonable. As a tall guy I did not know how close together the seats are, at least in balcony. While I could see great, my knees were aching by final act. Get an end seat! Also not enough bathrooms for everyone to use at intermission, get out of your seat fast or risk missing the start of second act, etc. Overall good experience, just plan ahead.
Dawn Yetter
Love this theater. Great plays and performances. The only problems are that the shows never start on time, intermission is always longer than it should be, and the rows of seats could be slanted a little more. If you have a tall person in front of you, your view is really compromised.
Chad Nelson
Loved the play, great show!
But was disappointed that the Rock Bottom Brewery was closed at 10:45.
Linda Schlatter
The theater is very beautiful and a nice historic venue. The sound and lighting systems were great!! We were in the balcony and the seating is pretty tight with very little leg room. The drink prices are in keeping with other downtown venues.
Jacque G
Beautiful old building with 1920s decor, stylish and welcoming. There's a quick wand scan at the entrance to prevent weapons, unobtrusive and safe. The productions are first class professional theater, we've never been disappointed. Staff are friendly, helpful, and polite. This is a great place to see good theater.
Seung Park
Nice vintage theater. Sight lines from most anywhere on the main floor were very good. Didn't have a chance to see from the balcony but would expect much the same.
Lacks in some areas: acoustics, restroom facilities, and traffic flow with-in the facilities. All issues related to the age of the theater and how it was constructed so likely unavoidable.
Enjoyable experience overall.
Lloyd Piepho
Fun, exuberance, laughs, this was a delightful play and the audience was loving it. Betty made a delightful Dolly and a very strong supporting staff made for a most enjoyable evening. The wardrobe staff get a "6" because the rainbow was just a start for the colorful costumes. The bright colors enhanced the dancing, the singing, the entire show was brilliant. I highly recommend it.
Kelly Fredrickson
Nice theater, polite and professional staff, but very limited on women's bathroom space. You will not get a chance to urinate during intermission if you want to be back to your seat on time, and given the amount I spent on tickets that's something that's completely unacceptable. Orpheum, you can afford to fix that. Get on it. And thanks for all the wonderful shows over the years!
Michael Carlson
Beautiful historic theater with an incredible line up! Avoid the balcony because the sound up there is lacking a bit
Brandon Vreeman
The theater itself is really nice. Beautiful architecture inside the stage area. The drinks and other things are fairly expensive, but not unexpected at all. Lots of price ranges for seats, so it could be doable for most budgets of you really wanted to go to the theater. The performance itself was really good. Great actors and the scenery was well constructed and worked well with the scenes.
If you need to go to the bathroom between shows, try to sneak out before the end of the scene, or sit close to the isles so you can get out quicker. There's only a couple bathrooms for a lot of people to use in a short time.
Another thing I learned is that you can pre-order your drinks for in between the shows. You get a number and go pick your drink up on a table guarded by a security person. No line that way!
Monica Lynn
The bathroom situation is not good. this is an old theater but without a doubt there's plenty of room for an additional large bathroom in the upper level .The upper balcony area is really steep! Its hard to see where your going to find your seat. No railings, it's scary. It really calls for one of the employees to escort you.
Richard Bourn
The theater itself is pretty nice. But like many places trying to maximize their profits, I found the seats to be very narrow and the legroom very, very small. In fact, I avoid productions there just because of how small the seats are and I am not an overly large person. I prefer to be comfortable when I'm paying premium prices for theater productions.
JJ Holland
Great venue! Beautiful! Wicked was wonderful!
mario molaro
Awesome shows and cheap tickets. It's small enough so ever seat is good and you can hear and see everything with out relying on the big screen or speaker system. And I love fee older style architecture and decor.
Andrew Hou
Went to see Hamilton tonight, and had previously seen Chicago and Wicked at the Orpheum. It really is an amazing historic building, and all the house seats are great... although I would not recommend the balcony seats for anyone taller. I'm a bit vertically challenged, so to speak, and even for me it was cramped. When they say "limited leg room", they are NOT joking around
Regardless, the shows are always amazing and worth a watch!
Miriam Schwiebert
A beautiful performing arts space that never fails to curate great performances. I've viewed shows from partial view, front and center, and balcony seats and have never been disappointed.
Lots of dining options in a variety of price ranges are within easy walking distance. If you park in a ramp at least a block and a half away from the theater doors, you will spend a lot less on your parking bill. When planning your visit, pay attention to event schedules for other nearby venues such as Target Field, the Target Center, and Minneapolis Convention Center. Major events at those venues will drive up parking rates and traffic density around the theater and the rest of the downtown area. Know your route, drive like a nice Minnesotan, and be prepared for lots of one way streets.
Trent Witz
Great theater.
Great shows
Michael Wanderscheid
A great venue.
