Reviews of Long Center for the Performing Arts
Such a beautiful venue! We finally got to see Micheal W. Smith perform! There are a few things I wish they could change. There is no lift or elevator to the mezzanine. I bought tickets for this show in February of 2020, not knowing Covid would postpone the show fir so long. February of 2021 I had a major surgery that makes it hard to climb stairs, currently. There was no open disabled seating. Needless to say, I made my way to the 2nd floor. And then up more stairs to our seats.
The concert was great! My only complaint is that you couldn't hear him, a lot. Especially during times that he would tell a story before singing his next song. The speakers above us didn't seem to work or were to quite.
All in all, I'd highly recommend attending events at the Long Center!
Went to a show here and the venue is nice. Drinks and Bathrooms were on the 2nd floor which is kind of annoying when we were on the first but there were stairs and elevators so it was accessible multiple ways. Very nice interior and bathrooms were clean.
Small, beautiful venue. Enjoyed being there.
Concessions where not that good but the performances was amazing. Would no doubt go again in the future.
This is just a great small town, authentic theater. Saw MJ Live this time (Michael Jackson Tribute) and it was terrific. This theater is small enough that every seat is good and it still has great amenities. Bar, nice large rest rooms, and a nice big lobby. I LOVE seeing shows here and I plan to see many more in the future. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
Beautiful theater. Wish more shows were held here!
Saw Zach Williams and Anne Wilson in concert! Great concert! Long Center is a nice place for a concert but the seat rows in the lower balcony were pretty close together so if you have long legs it's a tight fit.
I absolutely love this beautiful theater with the Wurlitzer! It has so much old-world charm, and everyone from front row lovers to back row balcony hiders (like me) can be accommodated.
Speaking of accommodations, that would be my one criticism: it's not overly accessible to folx using wheelchairs. (This is not unusual with older buildings.) It's not impossible, mind you, but it would take a bit of finagling.
My daughter's Kindergarten Class Christmas performance was excellent!
Went and watched the jazz Christmas concert and loved it!!!
Moderately sized theater, good for rentals. We barely fit a 115 member band on the stage, so anything smaller should have plenty of room. Audience seats are a bit worn, but comfortable nonetheless. The balcony has a much better view of the stage, but the sound quality is very high everywhere in the theater. There is not a ton of room back stage (our band had to wait in the side lobby before our performance). Overall, very nice.
Great seating, very polite and kind staff. 10/10 would come here again. We saw Steve-O while he was on tour.
I love this place. Great old theater built around the time of vaudeville heyday. It's been spectacularly restored and looks phenomenal. I've performed there as well, and it's so cool to look out on the house and see the balcony rise up so high. There are no bad seats, either. Wonderful place.
Awesome saw Steve o there and wish I would've known how nice this venue was for the last 20 years!!
It was great! And the theater room is beautiful. Still looks like it would have the day it was built.
There isn't a bad seat in the place. The closeness makes it intimate for concerts. My only negative is the leg space for a person my height is lacking. I got up and down several times just to stretch my legs out. Beautiful theater!
Wonderful experience. Talented orchestra and I hope they get more support from the community now that they've opened back up.
Saw the Purdue Glee Club End of Season Concert. Great show in a great theater.
Great space for choral performances. Have been there 3 times so far and each time they have done a great job accommodating the ensembles on their stage. Nice seating and has 2 levels so there is good space.
Great venue. Staff is always helpful. Long Center is bringing in some awesome music for us classic rock fans....Beatles vs Stones, Prince, ABBA and Elton John tribute bands.....and to top it off Bret Michaels.
Let's raise the roof on these shows. Rock and Roll never forgets.
This historic theater from the earlier part of the 20th century is still going strong. Despite a large chunk of plaster missing from a rear wall of the theater, the interior is beautiful. Excellent wheelchair seating with free-standing chairs, too. With a steady stream of all kinds of entertainment including free events, this is truly an old but still gleaming jewel in Lafayette.
I love this beautiful, historic theater, and I like attending live performances there. Today, I took my 86 year old mother to see a production by the Christos Homines Drama Troupe. The only problem we had is that the theater seats are quite low, so Mom, who has arthritis, had trouble getting into and out of her seat. The theater was a marvelous setting for this play.
Always love doing plays here the staff are very nice and friendly the place is well taken care of lighting was wonderful.
The venue is beautiful. Very old theater feel. The seats are nice. The only thing is the popcorn was prepackaged before the show and was a bit stale. The staff and volunteers were polite. The concession people were a bit overwhelmed.
We are lucky to have this in Lafayette. It would be nice if they brought in more outside talent so everyone could enjoy. My only complaint is same with every historical theater I've been in. Seats tiny, my butt big. It's not 1920 anymore and we grow things large in Indiana. I just fit but my 2 sons who are not overweight, but just grown men, were uncomfortable the whole time. Not sure, at this point, if we should replace historical seats or stop giving our kids optimal nutrition? Opinions?
I went to see Nate Bargatze do stand up, and sat in the balcony. The view was fine and the acoustics were great, but don't expect to be comfortable for very long; there is no leg room in those old seats.
Amazing show and beautiful place
Saw Theo von.... Great experience... Seats are pretty small... Wasn't a problem but saw people struggling with it
This theater is a jewel! It is beautifully restored, and we are lucky to have a facility like this in Lafayette. Every time I attend a performance at the Long Center, I enjoy the venue as much as the show.
We attended the Lafayette Symphony Orchestra's "Holiday Pops" concert here, and had a wonderful experience. Nice facility, and looking forward to catching more performances in the future!
The history and architecture here is amazing and the staff here goes out if their way to provide great service. Scotty Mcreery put in an amazing show.
Great venue but they won't let high schoolers perform.
Love it! If you love the orchestra, this is where the wonderful Lafayette Symphony Orchestra will be found delighting your senses with timeless classical pieces from centuries ago to present. The personnel director Dr.Weyser does her very best in making sure the top musicians are at long center for you enjoyment!
The performance was great! I've never seen the New World Symphony before.
Nice, historic venue with good view of the stage from every seat. Smaller than some performance theaters, but perfect for Lafayette.
Bass a little loud and need a little more room in seating. McCreary concert was very good.
I've been here for a couple of events lately and it's been a fantastic experience. The Vendors really add a special touch to this vintage theater. It's very nicely maintained.
What a Gem to still have in my community the detail in this place is extravagant! Beautiful, precious, venue
Saw Queen at this theater. Every seat had a marvelous view. Good acoustics and easy in and out local curb parking. Parking garage is nearby too.
Loved both shows! The 1965 Beatles and the Resurrection a Journey Tribute. Both were great shows keep pulling in stuff like this and I'll keep buying tickets.
Went to the nutcracker and the theatre was perfect. A lot of seating that is accessible and easy to see the stage. Annex rooms for goods to be sold as well.
Gorgeous! Lived seeing Gone with the Wind on the big screen. Prices on concessions were also great. Movie ticket was only $5.
Scotty McCreary was the BOMB 💣. Multiple genres of songs. Had a nice variety...even his opener was spot on... …
Loved sitting in the balcony where we could see everyone really well on stage and the sound was great!
Usually go here about once a year for some time of performance. Always a good experience and comfortable environment. All parking is on street or where you can find it, so show up a bit early to get parked and seated.
Beautiful and is like a step in the Past.
Wish I would have took pictures.
Lovely people.
There's not any really bad seating locations, but I was very uncomfortable in my seat. (I suppose you could fix this by sitting in the front rows which have different seats.) There's also a few glaring issues with the interior of the building.
Wow just enjoyed a beautiful Pops Synphony tonight at the Long Center and just amazed at the talent and beauty of the Venue!
Beautiful gem.
Enjoyed the Purdue Jazz Bands and the acoustics were fantastic.
We love the concert last night. Very good music. I thought being greeted by the Hollywood type ushers was special
Excellent Theater!
This theater was great for hosting a laser light show. Great seats. Easy to get to and parking just around the corner.
Located in down town Lafayette, I have been here many times. It is very well clean and kept up. Very old building. Alot of good stuff goes on here.
Seats are comfortable if you aren't tall. Acoustics are quite impressive. Would love to see a play here.
Very helpful staff. Great show! Beatles vs. Stones musical showdown. Beautiful building.
